Wednesday’s Clue: A Head Above the Rest

Whose noggin might this be? Which eye does it match? How is this person connected to HGTV Dream Home 2010? And Ed … I’m not mean (just a little bit devilish).

  1. OH MARY—- I’m so Excited!!! I knew that you wouldn’t let us down!!!!

I will have to work on this one for sure—- it’ll take a while—BUT—- If THE NEXT Dream Home SITE IS NOT VIRGINIA— I’d like to sing this song to you:

    If it’s coming over you
    Like it’s coming over me
I’m crashing like a tidal wave
That drags me out to the sea
I’m crashing like a tidal wave
    And I don’t wanna be
    Stranded, stranded, stranded, stranded

    ———————————

“There’s a pain in my heart, I’m trying so hard to unwind
Makes me cry in the night, when visions so real make me blind
Wants to break through the fear
    Erasing the scars from within
Start a new kind of being – I’m down and I’m praying again

You see I’m Turning the key, unlocking the door
    Embracing the roller coaster world
And you know we’ve all been hurt before
Show me the way – show me, show me how
    Help me be brave
show me the way – show me tell me how
    What do you say?”

LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL—- I know no matter where it is, it will be Grand

Will come back later tonight—- going to do a few things and going out to dinner

Hey, — Let’s Keep the Blog Positive—at least it’s not a nose or lips, huh???

  3. YAY…Thank you Mary!

Climbing back up on the limb…
After looking at these pictures, I tried to line them up and I think this forehead goes with second eye, not the first one. The head is tilted so and it matches the second eye much better.

    Onward to more googling!

  29. CATHY LEMAR= about the 3rd eye, I don’t know— I’m not good with eye’s.

    1. All I can say is, Yes, It definitely looks like Gov. Richardson.
    2. I had a feeling— something about the comment, ” Oh, DB Coop, you are so close but so far away”, — it kept sticking with me and—
    3. The last Blog definitely took me Away from Virginia— I was having my Doubts big time.

  33. As to the Dogwood tree in New Mexico, it IS found in the higher elevations, though known as a dwarf version:

Dwarf dogwood is also commonly known as bunchberry or bunchberry dogwood. Dwarf dogwood is native to a broad area extending across North America in boreal Canada and the northern tier of the United States (south down the Rocky Mountains into Colorado and NEW MEXICO).

DBCoop on May 20, 2009 at 4:55 pm

  35. Thanks Lynn! I have an eye for strange detail, that mole jumped right out at me! lol :) I miss the big stuff, but I see all the small stuff!
Yes, It is either Massachusetts, or New Mexico. To me most clues fit Masschusetts, but you never know…..Okay Mary we got this one, next…..

  36. I don’t think the the middle is green like the cornus florida species…but am looking for a pic. But then with all these twists in the clues…..Mary may not have meant to be exact in the dogwood clue anyway…. :)

Guess it could still be NM…although my ancestors are not singing “Throw me the Lifeline” yet.

  39. Keep in mind the twists and turns MARY has been handing us as clues!

Virginia is NOT out of the running simply because we’ve identified the owner of the second eye as Gov Bill Richardson of NM. You might recall that the first eye belongs to Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine, and we’ve yet to identify the third eye (which may or may not bring us good karma!)

As I posted in the previous thread, when it comes to MARY’s clues, don’t count your chitlins before they’re hatched!

    W. on May 20, 2009 at 5:22 pm
  45. I don’t believe the third eye is that of former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney. Thanks for the link to that great photo by the way, Cathy.

As the last eye to identify, the third eye MAY be the most telling, or simply more of the three option format of clues.

Will we ever be able to draw a bead on the target? Perhaps the mystery eye will be our window to the (filet of) sole at the Academy Ocean Grill in Orleans, Cape Cad.

  48. So maybe all three Governor’s have ties to MA????

Cathy Lemar on May 20, 2009 at 5:23 pm
  49. Lynne….did u check out my last link to Romney and zoom into 200% then compare eye and eyebrows as well as line across bridge of nose?

Cathy Lemar on May 20, 2009 at 5:26 pm
  50. Yep Coop: You need to climb back up that crowded cactus limb ’cause that hairline does belong to Bill Richardson, who is serving his second term as Governor of New Mexico! Oh boy, I do not want to give up on Virigina, but the clues are starting to weigh heavily toward New Mexico. I have to admit, I love the gentle breezes and ocean air opposed to dry arid weather. Interesting about the Dwarf dogwood…I researched it a little bit, but did not find a photo of the flower buds? Are they like the photo clue from Mary?

I guess we need to decide which city now…. How about Santa Fe…it was founded in 1607, is the capital of the state of New Mexico!!
Santa Fe is located between mountain and desert and is rich in outdoors activities, particularly hiking and cycling!! There is the “The Genoveva Chavez Community Center” containing three swimming pools, an ice rink, a gymnasium, and a fitness center. Just a thought…about the teepee clue…well you will find the ‘Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument’ which is just south of town near Cochiti Lake, and oddly enough, the rocks are shaped liked teepees (or tents)?

Okay, change gears Marie…find a house plan that fits this area. It is really hard for me to sway from the Colonial/Plantation styles, but if we are building a dream home in the New Mexico area, I would go for this one: http://www.architecturalhouseplans.com/home_plans/124

I guess as long as the home has Dwarf dogwood planted everywhere, it will have a more lush feel to it! :)

Marie Miller on May 20, 2009 at 5:28 pm
  51. I believe that the 2nd eye(brown) belongs to Governor Richardson from New Mexico. The forehead too!

    W. on May 20, 2009 at 5:32 pm
  52. i reversed the eye and put it next to the other one and it really does seem to match Gov. Jim Doyle. Does Doyle or Kaine have ties to NM?

Cathy Lemar on May 20, 2009 at 5:32 pm
  53. Don’t rush to climb up on that cactus limb yet, Marie!

I’m not sure yet whether the third eye is that of Wisconsin Gov. Jim Doyle, but as Lynn posted, if it is, all three, Kaine, Richardson and Doyle have Massachusetts links.

DBCoop on May 20, 2009 at 5:34 pm
  54. yes Doyle does have ties…..MADISON – With gas prices hovering over $3 a gallon, Governor Jim Doyle today joined with New Mexico Governor and former U.S. Secretary of Energy Bill Richardson in announcing $1 million in new state funding for renewable energy and calling for a new national energy policy that focuses on energy independence.

Cathy Lemar on May 20, 2009 at 5:36 pm
  55. Hi Cathy! I did compare that eye to Mitt…I can’t seem to match up the eyebrows…Mitt’s eyebrows are very full and the 3rd eye has an eyebrow that is a bit less full, shall I say?

What do you think? Did you check out the one I sent…let me know what you think.

    Living the Dream!

Lynn Coggin on May 20, 2009 at 5:37 pm
  56. In a joint
campaign appearance with Kaine, New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson
pronounced that “the multiethnic component of Northern Virginia is going to
be critical” on Election Day. Kaine’s approach to winning that vote is to
    oppose local
    enforcement of immigration laws.

Cathy Lemar on May 20, 2009 at 5:39 pm

Cathy Lemar on May 20, 2009 at 5:41 pm
  59. So all three have links to each other…and links to MA….I still believe it’s MA.

  61. I have HP image zone…flipped it there and pasted it onto a word doc and then copied and pasted Mary’s eye #3 next to it… How did you ever find Doyle? Did you go looking at all the Governors?

Cathy Lemar on May 20, 2009 at 6:00 pm
  62. I like your Santa Fe Splendor, Marie—it’s got style and it’s got space. My only two wishes would be to redirect the traffic from having to pass through the dining room, and a 3 car garage. In that case, yes, divinely liveable (along with some nice shade trees planted about, and those dwarf boxwoods).

DBCoop on May 20, 2009 at 6:06 pm

  69. I missed the last clue, about the word that starts with the letter C and ends with the letter R. The only thing that I can see from those Master Bath photos is that the COLORs (blue, white, beige, mother of pearl ivory)are beautiful! I love the color scheme.
And it does seem that New Mexico will be the next location. Great!!! I cannot wait.

    W. on May 20, 2009 at 7:17 pm
  70. YES def Gov Richardson. I think it is in New Mexico, for sure….

So ummmm why not Philadelphia? Why not a city for once?

Jenn in Philly on May 20, 2009 at 7:22 pm
  71. Do you think that it will finally be annouced tomorrow? I think so. Well, NM is better for me than MA I guess because it is closer to family. I just want water! Hopefully it is on a slow moving river or lake!

JessiRose on May 20, 2009 at 7:33 pm
  72. I guess I’m having a hard time figuring out how all three of these gentlemen tie in? Do you think Massachusett does link all three, and that is the purpose of the identity clues? It all seems weird to me! Have all three of them met in any particular city in Massachusetts? I know headquartered in Charlestown, Massachusetts, the Massachusetts Democratic State Committee is responsible for publicizing the platform of the Massachusetts Democratic Party, the state affiliate of the United States Democratic Party….have they met there for any particular reason?

While the state flower of Massachusetts is the Mayflower, the state flower of Virginia is that lovely American Dogwood..I see more positive identifications for clues for Virginia than that of Massachusetts?

But, hey I am so confused at this ’state’ of the game…it could be almost any where? Maybe Kaine, Richardson, and Doyle hold a ‘key’ to the city?

Marie Miller on May 20, 2009 at 8:14 pm
  73. Marie….lok at my earlier posts….lots of ties to MA with Richardson and Lynn found ties to Harvard with Doyle. And Kaine went to Harvard too.

Cathy Lemar on May 20, 2009 at 9:08 pm
  74. CATHY LEMAR= I just got back from dinner— and wanted to catch you before you leave the blog for the night. I feel for you— I do. But I think sometimes, its just best to accept things the way they are— or at least, start trying to accept things. You’ll get over the hurt a lot easier.

    1. I’m Very Disappointed that it’s New Mexico.
    2. Honestly— I’ve said before— wouldn’t have minded at all if it turned out to be Mass.
    3. New England is a Beautiful area, Beautiful Country, Lots of Cabins, etc…—-A Winter Wonderland ( VERMONT ) is a major skiing area. And the Scenic Highway in the Fall??? It’s like an Artist took his paintbrush and painted every single color all over the trees

But what can we do???? I have to catch up on all the blogs—- But unfortunately, the Dream Home is in the Process of being built, and I think, from the picture, it is New Mexico

    Diana B

Diana on May 20, 2009 at 9:30 pm
  75. MARIE MILLER= I don’t understand. I’m out of the loop, because I left the blog when it pretty much first posted.

If that is a Picture of Richardson, how can it Not be New Mexico??

    Diana B.

Diana on May 20, 2009 at 9:33 pm
  76. I caught up on all of the blogs. Honestly, my feeling is that unfortunately, we are reading “too much” into it. It was OK to do with Mary’s staements, and the what if or what not in the First Picture Gallery. The way I see it— it is a picture of Gov. Richardson, and it will be New Mexico.

But—- only one way to Solve this. On my way to dinner, I was thinking, OK, how does Ravioli or even Ivory connect to New Mexico??? and then there’s Oats?

So, we have to go back to Square One. All of the Clues ( or most of them) have to Line up with New Mexico ( most likely Sante Fe).

If many clues do not line up—- then I think it will be Massachusetts.

(Then again— could all these governor’s have a connection to Virginia— that would probably be a stretch though)

I’ll be back later— I have a heavy duty homework assignment to do tonight. Maybe CATHY LEMAR or DB COOP (King of Klues)can help, if your still available??? Blog and let me know— so we don’t research the same areas.

    — I’m leaving the “First Picture Gallery” for Last— because a lot of those clues could lead to either Mass. or NM

  79. I have only one thing to say: the Dogwood is Virginia’s state flower and state tree. That clue gave us only ONE option, not a confusing choice of three, as others have.

Aside from various tenuous links to other states, I can’t imagine the intent of posting the Dogwood clue if it was designed to steer us in the wrong direction.

DBCoop on May 20, 2009 at 10:57 pm
  80. Thank you Coop…I’m feeling better about Virginia again, and totally agree with you about the Dogwood! My head is swimming with all the ambiguous clues, so I think I shall sleep on it…maybe I’ll dream up the exact location in my state of La-la land!! :)

Marie Miller on May 20, 2009 at 11:09 pm
  81. DB COOP and MARIE MILLER= As I just read your posts, I just felt an “overwelming anxiety” and Heat across my chest—-
DB COOP, you are Totally Reading my Mind. For the Past 30 minutes, I have been reading that “older blog” on the “Flower”— and most of the blogs— I’m with you.

Why would Mary do this? I don’t know. She’s not devious, she is nice, I think that she really is. Remember— this is a game, just a fun game.

  82. Hi Marie Miller, DBCoop, Renee & Diana. I am about to turn in for the night also.

The only link I can find is that all three governors are of the Democratic Party. They all attended the 2008 Democratic National Convention in Denver, Colorado from August 25th through the 28th. They are all Roman Catholics. And, as previously discussed, they all went to schools in Boston.

Yikes! I am so confused and can’t wait to go to bed…sweet HGTV dreams to you all!

Now— I just thought of a Possible Connection to ALL 3 Pictures of the Governor’s to Virginia—- in fact, I think that I can connect Every Single Congressman and Every Single Senator in the U.S.A. to Virginia too—

The Connection is, is that they all work in Washington, DC. But guess where they all live???? Some live in Maryland, but a lot of them live in Arlington, Virginia. In fact, they commonly speak of their ” D.C. Apartments”— but they are really living in Arlington, Virginia.

It’s kind of like; if you live in Brooklyn— you may tell people that you live in NYC— it’s pretty much the same thing

I’m am now off to my “googling duties”

  85. “It’s kind of like; if you live in Brooklyn— you may tell people that you live in NYC— it’s pretty much the same thing”
Well, if you live in Brooklyn you live in NYC, in the Borough of Brooklyn. NYC is made up of five boroughs. Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens , Staten Island, and Manhattan Island.
Sorry, but that is the fact.

  87. I’m not quite onboard with the Jim Doyle call yet. The difficulty is finding a photo with high enough resolution to magnify without losing image quality. Then the issue of when and where the photos were taken, and aspects of lighting AND of course, possible makeup or touch-ups to the photos we’re comparing to—the “official” Gov. Doyle website photo shows deeper outside edge creases to the eyes than in MARY’s photo, and a couple of pinpoint moles at the lower eyelid and outer brow in MARY’s photo do not appear in the official photo. Eye color shade is slightly different, which is also where monitor and printer variations come into play.

I’ve tried to convince myself it’s Gov. Doyle, but still holding out for a “noggin” shot from MARY as the clincher.

I don’t know, it just feels like there’s something rockin’ in Knoxville, and so far, I haven’t felt the earth move under my feet!

DBCoop on May 21, 2009 at 1:25 am
  88. NJGAL= Well, I must be mistaken. When I think of NYC– I think of Manhattan. I know that Queens County covers Queens, etc… (I’ve thought of it in terms of counties, not borroughs.)

    Diana B

Diana on May 21, 2009 at 1:52 am
  89. DB COOP= Yes, I agree— something may be rockin’ in Knoxville. I’ve got to say, that when I first saw that picture of Gov. Richardson— I wasn’t even so sure about that. I didn’t say anything, because it seemed that everyone is so convinced!!!
    1. If you look at the picture on his website, there’s a little notch of hair in the Middle of his Forehead (on the top.)
    2. I don’t see that notch with the picture on this blog— but, could have meant a new haircut.

But— I’ve finished the “Scrabble Board”, and it looks pretty Convincing for New Mexico so far. (But, that’s just as far as I got.)

I really LOVE VIRGINIA, but you know what? NEW MEXICO looks really nice. So far from what I’ve seen; it’s a bustling, energetic, lively, healthy-living city to be in.

I’ll post it tomorrow. Still hoping for Virginia— but New Mexico will be very nice

  90. NJGAL= Also, I just love NYC. I’m planning on going there a week or so before Christmas . Can’t wait to eat in Bobby Flays “Mesa Grill”, and check out different restaurants and shopping too.

This time, I hope that I don’t lose my Dad in Manhattan— like what happened last time
( all because of Dr. Seuss in front of Rockerfeller Ctr )— really

  92. None of the prevopus dream home locations have disappointed me and I am sure that this one won’t either. I have watched all the old dream home episodes and one thing that I have leared is that there is more than one kind of beatiful and it can be found in places I have never seen before. BRING ON THE DREAM HOME I am sure that it will be great!

JessiRose on May 21, 2009 at 2:30 am
  93. Just to muddy the waters a little: “Do you like to apply a little rouge and lipstick before getting your new driver’s license? It soon won’t matter in Virginia. The Department of Motor Vehicles is rolling out a new look for Virginia licenses, and that look includes a lot of black and white.”

“Starting in March, the state will begin issuing new licenses and ID cards with black-and-white photos intended to improve security and blunt counterfeiting.”

Even more confused now? Sheesh, it’s right there in front of you, in black and white! (Hey, we can’t let MARY have ALL the fun!)

  96. Def Still holding out for New Mexico, which has been my guess all along. Someone mentioned the point I had made in earlier postings about the fact that dogwoods can grow in NM, the Bunchberry Dogwood in specific. Enough of this coastal stuff, time to head to the southwest, and after having lived in TX who wouldnt want to stick around somewhere down there. Now if it could be a ranch house it’d be perfect.

Stephanie on May 21, 2009 at 6:29 am
  97. Just anounce NM won already! It’s so obvious…. Duh? Land of enchantment will be a cool spot since it’s such an unknown area. Did they start home yet? Must be started or built since it’s a few months from showcase.

Bill Chavez on May 21, 2009 at 6:40 am
  98. This final clue confirmed I was right on New Mexico! I think a nice rustic ranch style home will be great. I wonder whereabouts in NM? Santa Fe mountains are nice… they must be building it already so we’ll probably get a sneak peak soon enough :)

  103. Coop: Is this area in the Silver Springs area? The hills came to be called Boston Hill around 1880 after the Massachusetts and New Mexico Mining Company (also known as the “Boston Company”) purchased the Legal Tender claim. By 1883, the company was in financial trouble and the mine changed hands once again.

  109. NJGAL= Yes, and can you believe that I actually lost my Dad TWICE in Manhattan!!! Both by the Rockerfeller Christmas Tree— and we actually found each other ( without using cell phones)!!!! I talked to my Dad about it, I wasn’t thinking of it in terms of the “NYC Metro Area”—- Sorry!!!! Now I see what you mean!!!!

CATHY LEMAR= Unfortunately, I found VERY strong ties to “Italian” to New Mexico, I’ll post in a min.

  111. Honestly—- I “Googled” all the “SCRABBLE” Clues, and they are Very Strong to New Mexico. But, looking at the sites that I saw, Both Albuquerque and Sante Fe look like energetic, bursting, healty-living, fun cities!!!! They look very, very nice. And I know that Sante Fe has a strong S.W. art area.

    1. One thing to keep in mind= the SCRABBLE clues could almost link to any city— if you look for a link— you will find a link

    2. ORANGES= Nothing (too substantial )for New Mexico, though— it was WEAK

    3. OK, the Bear is the State Animal for NM

    4. The Flower on the older blog— and this is what is confusing me. What Species is Really that Flower??? DB Coop was thinking about this too. If that flower REALLY is a Dogwood Cornius= it is Virginia.

The State Flower for NW is the Yucca. When I looked at the picture of a Yucca, I thought— it COULD possibly be the same picture that was on that blog— I don’t know— not an expert on flowers, at all, LOL LOL LOL

    5. The picture of the Big Bear on the Last Blog??? Marie Miller located that it is a picture from NM

    6. The Forehead above?? Seems pretty definitely that it is Bill Richardson.

So, other than the Clues (ORANGE, FLOWER maybe, and also, what about Lakes???)— I think that it could be NEW MEXICO

Hopefully talk to DB Coop about this later— because I KNOW that DB COOP is the King of KLUES

  113. CLUES for NEW MEXICO—- I’m sure that there are more, different ones too—- I “googled” fast—- sorry for this long blog—-

Mary said, “ Oh, DB Coop, you are so close but so far away”. I still don’t understand this— because if Mary was thinking of SANTE FE instead of ALBUQUERQUE— BOTH cities are pretty close to each other on the map.

    SCRABBLE BOARD

    1. IVORY= Lots of Art Shops Making and Selling Jewelry and Art made of IVORY.

    2. ORANGE= Did Not Find Anything Sufficient
    • There is a clothing store, named, “ Orange Nation”
    • There is a species of a flower, Wooton’s Mock- ORANGE that grows in New Mexico.
    • There is a species of a plant, Osage Orange, in New Mexico.
    • I saw a picture of the desert sand at dusk—It was glowing with the color, Orange.

    3. BIKE= Lots of Bicycle Riding
    • “Albuquerque is experimenting with “Bike Boxes” in 5 Intersections. The Boxes eliminate vehicle “right on red” where they are supposed to wait behind the cyclists”
    • “ Albuquerque has been chosen to be the 2010 Host City for the “League of American Bicyclists” Bike Rally. The League brings in about 400 cyclists”
    • “New Mexico – It’s better on a bike!” Whether you are an experienced cyclist or you haven’t been on a bike since you were eleven years old, you will thoroughly enjoy biking in New Mexico. 4. OAT=

    • There are Oat Field Crops
    • There are Many Wild Oat Fields— in about 8 Counties according to a state map

    5. RAVIOLI=
    • The company, Sysco, has their Home offices there. I don’t think that they totally specialize in Italian food, but offer a lot of Italian specialties. Sysco is a Major Distributor to Restaurants, Hotels, and Catering Companies all over the U.S.A.
    • Between 1890 and 1900, over six hundred thousand Italians came to the United States .Italian immigrants did not truly start arriving in the state until 1880.( The Jesuit priests formed a bridge between the Spanish population and the newly arriving European immigrants.) Later Italian immigrants maintained this role in New Mexico.

Census data from 1910 shows 1,959 foreign-born Italians living in New Mexico. Italian newspapers and tight knit Italian communities kept the language intact. Albuquerque’s The Club Culturale Italiano used to run meetings in both Italian and English.
    • There is an Annual ITALIAN FILM FESTIVAL there too

    6. TEE PEE
    • In the Hotel Santa Fe, In Sante Fe, customers can have a Gourmet, Romantic, Private Dinner in a TEE PEE

    • “Pisoliths and Tepee structures of the Permian Reef Complex in New Mexico and Texas were first described, way back in history.”
    * Tee Pee’s are “southwestern” like and theres a history of them all thoughout the South West

    FLOWER
The yucca flower, is the State Flower for New Mexico. It does not like like the picture on the blog, with the Flower. But really looking at it, it Possibly COULD be. ( Dogwood Cornius is the State Flower for Virginia though

  120. TRISTA= I am disappointed to, I really, really wanted Virginia. I am a little depressed, but, what could we do? The decision is made— the Dream Home is probably almost finished!!!!

But— when I checked out web sites on NEW MEXICO last night ( was blogging research )— it really does look VERY , VERY NICE.– Energetic, Bursting Cities.- and Sun!!!

Personally, I’m not too much into the tacos, tequila sunrise thing.— and really, the only states that would take me Out West— would be California or Las Vegas (maybe Colorado).

    1. We have the Dream Home of 2011 to Look Forward to!!!!

And, I have heard that there seems to be a wave of “retiree’s” definitely choosing Arizona instead of Florida. It’s not that they are not coming to Florida anymore—but more people for some reason are discovering the “southwest”

Its just for me, living in Florida— I probably wouldn’t chose another “warm” climate location to live in.
