Wednesday’s Clue: A Head Above the Rest

Whose noggin might this be? Which eye does it match? How is this person connected to HGTV Dream Home 2010? And Ed … I’m not mean (just a little bit devilish).

  1. I believe that the 2nd eye(brown) belongs to Governor Richardson from New Mexico. The forehead too!

    W. on May 20, 2009 at 5:32 pm
  2. i reversed the eye and put it next to the other one and it really does seem to match Gov. Jim Doyle. Does Doyle or Kaine have ties to NM?

Cathy Lemar on May 20, 2009 at 5:32 pm
  3. Don’t rush to climb up on that cactus limb yet, Marie!

I’m not sure yet whether the third eye is that of Wisconsin Gov. Jim Doyle, but as Lynn posted, if it is, all three, Kaine, Richardson and Doyle have Massachusetts links.

DBCoop on May 20, 2009 at 5:34 pm
  4. yes Doyle does have ties…..MADISON – With gas prices hovering over $3 a gallon, Governor Jim Doyle today joined with New Mexico Governor and former U.S. Secretary of Energy Bill Richardson in announcing $1 million in new state funding for renewable energy and calling for a new national energy policy that focuses on energy independence.

Cathy Lemar on May 20, 2009 at 5:36 pm
  5. Hi Cathy! I did compare that eye to Mitt…I can’t seem to match up the eyebrows…Mitt’s eyebrows are very full and the 3rd eye has an eyebrow that is a bit less full, shall I say?

What do you think? Did you check out the one I sent…let me know what you think.

  6. In a joint
campaign appearance with Kaine, New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson
pronounced that “the multiethnic component of Northern Virginia is going to
be critical” on Election Day. Kaine’s approach to winning that vote is to
    oppose local
    enforcement of immigration laws.

  9. So all three have links to each other…and links to MA….I still believe it’s MA.

Cathy Lemar on May 20, 2009 at 5:44 pm
  10. Wow, Cathy, I am so impressed you can reverse the eye…I’d love to know how you did that? Very cool!

  11. I have HP image zone…flipped it there and pasted it onto a word doc and then copied and pasted Mary’s eye #3 next to it… How did you ever find Doyle? Did you go looking at all the Governors?

Cathy Lemar on May 20, 2009 at 6:00 pm
  12. I like your Santa Fe Splendor, Marie—it’s got style and it’s got space. My only two wishes would be to redirect the traffic from having to pass through the dining room, and a 3 car garage. In that case, yes, divinely liveable (along with some nice shade trees planted about, and those dwarf boxwoods).

DBCoop on May 20, 2009 at 6:06 pm
  13. Cathy…Yep…hahahaha…I hate to say I did look into the eyes of each and every governor…and it wasn’t pretty because my husband was talking to me and I have no idea what he said…do I need to get a life other than HGTV or do I just need HP image zone???? :)

  15. Good job on Governor Doyle Lynn. That’s too bad I was just picturing myself living in Marie Miller’s beautiful adobe home. I wonder what kind of curve ball “Mean Mary” is going to throw us now, to get us on another track? :)

  16. Hi Ed…oh, yes, I had (or, maybe, still have?) a nice dreamhome for my family all picked out for our move to New Mexico…

Love the pictures of the interior…the floors are great!

What are you going to pick out now?

Lynn Coggin on May 20, 2009 at 6:35 pm
  17. Hi Lynn, I remember looking over that little beauty when you posted it before. I haven’t picked anything out yet. I guess I will just hold on until the bitter end & see where the Dream Home will be. :(

  18. I can’t decide (VA could be it) but I have to say Blue Lake, Sabrina Basin, Orange County, CA!

  19. I missed the last clue, about the word that starts with the letter C and ends with the letter R. The only thing that I can see from those Master Bath photos is that the COLORs (blue, white, beige, mother of pearl ivory)are beautiful! I love the color scheme.
And it does seem that New Mexico will be the next location. Great!!! I cannot wait.

    W. on May 20, 2009 at 7:17 pm
  20. YES def Gov Richardson. I think it is in New Mexico, for sure….

So ummmm why not Philadelphia? Why not a city for once?

Jenn in Philly on May 20, 2009 at 7:22 pm
  21. Do you think that it will finally be annouced tomorrow? I think so. Well, NM is better for me than MA I guess because it is closer to family. I just want water! Hopefully it is on a slow moving river or lake!

JessiRose on May 20, 2009 at 7:33 pm
  22. I guess I’m having a hard time figuring out how all three of these gentlemen tie in? Do you think Massachusett does link all three, and that is the purpose of the identity clues? It all seems weird to me! Have all three of them met in any particular city in Massachusetts? I know headquartered in Charlestown, Massachusetts, the Massachusetts Democratic State Committee is responsible for publicizing the platform of the Massachusetts Democratic Party, the state affiliate of the United States Democratic Party….have they met there for any particular reason?

While the state flower of Massachusetts is the Mayflower, the state flower of Virginia is that lovely American Dogwood..I see more positive identifications for clues for Virginia than that of Massachusetts?

But, hey I am so confused at this ‘state’ of the game…it could be almost any where? Maybe Kaine, Richardson, and Doyle hold a ‘key’ to the city?

Marie Miller on May 20, 2009 at 8:14 pm
  23. Marie….lok at my earlier posts….lots of ties to MA with Richardson and Lynn found ties to Harvard with Doyle. And Kaine went to Harvard too.

  24. CATHY LEMAR= I just got back from dinner— and wanted to catch you before you leave the blog for the night. I feel for you— I do. But I think sometimes, its just best to accept things the way they are— or at least, start trying to accept things. You’ll get over the hurt a lot easier.

    1. I’m Very Disappointed that it’s New Mexico.
    2. Honestly— I’ve said before— wouldn’t have minded at all if it turned out to be Mass.
    3. New England is a Beautiful area, Beautiful Country, Lots of Cabins, etc…—-A Winter Wonderland ( VERMONT ) is a major skiing area. And the Scenic Highway in the Fall??? It’s like an Artist took his paintbrush and painted every single color all over the trees

But what can we do???? I have to catch up on all the blogs—- But unfortunately, the Dream Home is in the Process of being built, and I think, from the picture, it is New Mexico

  25. MARIE MILLER= I don’t understand. I’m out of the loop, because I left the blog when it pretty much first posted.

If that is a Picture of Richardson, how can it Not be New Mexico??

    Diana B.

Diana on May 20, 2009 at 9:33 pm
  26. I caught up on all of the blogs. Honestly, my feeling is that unfortunately, we are reading “too much” into it. It was OK to do with Mary’s staements, and the what if or what not in the First Picture Gallery. The way I see it— it is a picture of Gov. Richardson, and it will be New Mexico.

But—- only one way to Solve this. On my way to dinner, I was thinking, OK, how does Ravioli or even Ivory connect to New Mexico??? and then there’s Oats?

So, we have to go back to Square One. All of the Clues ( or most of them) have to Line up with New Mexico ( most likely Sante Fe).

If many clues do not line up—- then I think it will be Massachusetts.

(Then again— could all these governor’s have a connection to Virginia— that would probably be a stretch though)

I’ll be back later— I have a heavy duty homework assignment to do tonight. Maybe CATHY LEMAR or DB COOP (King of Klues)can help, if your still available??? Blog and let me know— so we don’t research the same areas.

    — I’m leaving the “First Picture Gallery” for Last— because a lot of those clues could lead to either Mass. or NM

Debbie Woodrum on May 20, 2009 at 10:42 pm
  28. We all know this picture is of Gov. Richardson. What about the RAVIOLI?

Renee on May 20, 2009 at 10:54 pm
  29. I have only one thing to say: the Dogwood is Virginia’s state flower and state tree. That clue gave us only ONE option, not a confusing choice of three, as others have.

Aside from various tenuous links to other states, I can’t imagine the intent of posting the Dogwood clue if it was designed to steer us in the wrong direction.

DBCoop on May 20, 2009 at 10:57 pm
  30. Thank you Coop…I’m feeling better about Virginia again, and totally agree with you about the Dogwood! My head is swimming with all the ambiguous clues, so I think I shall sleep on it…maybe I’ll dream up the exact location in my state of La-la land!! :)

Marie Miller on May 20, 2009 at 11:09 pm
  31. DB COOP and MARIE MILLER= As I just read your posts, I just felt an “overwelming anxiety” and Heat across my chest—-
DB COOP, you are Totally Reading my Mind. For the Past 30 minutes, I have been reading that “older blog” on the “Flower”— and most of the blogs— I’m with you.

Why would Mary do this? I don’t know. She’s not devious, she is nice, I think that she really is. Remember— this is a game, just a fun game.

  32. Hi Marie Miller, DBCoop, Renee & Diana. I am about to turn in for the night also.

The only link I can find is that all three governors are of the Democratic Party. They all attended the 2008 Democratic National Convention in Denver, Colorado from August 25th through the 28th. They are all Roman Catholics. And, as previously discussed, they all went to schools in Boston.

Yikes! I am so confused and can’t wait to go to bed…sweet HGTV dreams to you all!

  33. So, I’m not so quick to give up on VIRGINIA. Oh, and Cathy Lemar— Massachusetts would be OK, but I’d much rather Virginia.

Now— I just thought of a Possible Connection to ALL 3 Pictures of the Governor’s to Virginia—- in fact, I think that I can connect Every Single Congressman and Every Single Senator in the U.S.A. to Virginia too—

The Connection is, is that they all work in Washington, DC. But guess where they all live???? Some live in Maryland, but a lot of them live in Arlington, Virginia. In fact, they commonly speak of their ” D.C. Apartments”— but they are really living in Arlington, Virginia.

It’s kind of like; if you live in Brooklyn— you may tell people that you live in NYC— it’s pretty much the same thing

I’m am now off to my “googling duties”

    Diana B

Diana on May 20, 2009 at 11:29 pm
  34. I know nothing of all of the clues, but, my guess is Big Bear Lake, CA.

Life is what you make it, so make it good!

  35. “It’s kind of like; if you live in Brooklyn— you may tell people that you live in NYC— it’s pretty much the same thing”
Well, if you live in Brooklyn you live in NYC, in the Borough of Brooklyn. NYC is made up of five boroughs. Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens , Staten Island, and Manhattan Island.
Sorry, but that is the fact.

  37. I’m not quite onboard with the Jim Doyle call yet. The difficulty is finding a photo with high enough resolution to magnify without losing image quality. Then the issue of when and where the photos were taken, and aspects of lighting AND of course, possible makeup or touch-ups to the photos we’re comparing to—the “official” Gov. Doyle website photo shows deeper outside edge creases to the eyes than in MARY’s photo, and a couple of pinpoint moles at the lower eyelid and outer brow in MARY’s photo do not appear in the official photo. Eye color shade is slightly different, which is also where monitor and printer variations come into play.

I’ve tried to convince myself it’s Gov. Doyle, but still holding out for a “noggin” shot from MARY as the clincher.

I don’t know, it just feels like there’s something rockin’ in Knoxville, and so far, I haven’t felt the earth move under my feet!

DBCoop on May 21, 2009 at 1:25 am
  38. NJGAL= Well, I must be mistaken. When I think of NYC– I think of Manhattan. I know that Queens County covers Queens, etc… (I’ve thought of it in terms of counties, not borroughs.)

    Diana B

Diana on May 21, 2009 at 1:52 am
  39. DB COOP= Yes, I agree— something may be rockin’ in Knoxville. I’ve got to say, that when I first saw that picture of Gov. Richardson— I wasn’t even so sure about that. I didn’t say anything, because it seemed that everyone is so convinced!!!
    1. If you look at the picture on his website, there’s a little notch of hair in the Middle of his Forehead (on the top.)
    2. I don’t see that notch with the picture on this blog— but, could have meant a new haircut.

But— I’ve finished the “Scrabble Board”, and it looks pretty Convincing for New Mexico so far. (But, that’s just as far as I got.)

I really LOVE VIRGINIA, but you know what? NEW MEXICO looks really nice. So far from what I’ve seen; it’s a bustling, energetic, lively, healthy-living city to be in.

I’ll post it tomorrow. Still hoping for Virginia— but New Mexico will be very nice

  40. NJGAL= Also, I just love NYC. I’m planning on going there a week or so before Christmas . Can’t wait to eat in Bobby Flays “Mesa Grill”, and check out different restaurants and shopping too.

This time, I hope that I don’t lose my Dad in Manhattan— like what happened last time
( all because of Dr. Seuss in front of Rockerfeller Ctr )— really

    LOL LOL

  42. None of the prevopus dream home locations have disappointed me and I am sure that this one won’t either. I have watched all the old dream home episodes and one thing that I have leared is that there is more than one kind of beatiful and it can be found in places I have never seen before. BRING ON THE DREAM HOME I am sure that it will be great!

JessiRose on May 21, 2009 at 2:30 am
  43. Just to muddy the waters a little: “Do you like to apply a little rouge and lipstick before getting your new driver’s license? It soon won’t matter in Virginia. The Department of Motor Vehicles is rolling out a new look for Virginia licenses, and that look includes a lot of black and white.”

“Starting in March, the state will begin issuing new licenses and ID cards with black-and-white photos intended to improve security and blunt counterfeiting.”

Even more confused now? Sheesh, it’s right there in front of you, in black and white! (Hey, we can’t let MARY have ALL the fun!)

  47. Def Still holding out for New Mexico, which has been my guess all along. Someone mentioned the point I had made in earlier postings about the fact that dogwoods can grow in NM, the Bunchberry Dogwood in specific. Enough of this coastal stuff, time to head to the southwest, and after having lived in TX who wouldnt want to stick around somewhere down there. Now if it could be a ranch house it’d be perfect.

Stephanie on May 21, 2009 at 6:29 am
  48. Just anounce NM won already! It’s so obvious…. Duh? Land of enchantment will be a cool spot since it’s such an unknown area. Did they start home yet? Must be started or built since it’s a few months from showcase.

Bill Chavez on May 21, 2009 at 6:40 am
  49. This final clue confirmed I was right on New Mexico! I think a nice rustic ranch style home will be great. I wonder whereabouts in NM? Santa Fe mountains are nice… they must be building it already so we’ll probably get a sneak peak soon enough :)
