A Surprise for You

Never fear. I disappeared for a bit, but am back today with something simply amazing. We hated the idea of keeping you all in suspense for so many months as the HGTV Dream Home 2010 gets built and furnished so we … decided … to … install a Dream Cam at the construction site! Yep, that’s right. You can check in each day to view new photos and then talk about them right here. We can’t wait to see what you have to say. So … view away!

  1. Loving the opportunity to watch this Dream Home being built. I already love the view at sunset.

  2. Oh my gosh, the way you all keep coming up with great designs and beautiful locations is just amazing and good for us!
I love to design so can really appreciate the time, thought to detail and team effort that is obvious in your green home and dream home(s). The idea and insight regarding location is a wonderful tribute to a great living experience and community. During these hard economic times as I and many experience a loss of a job, it is so nice to be able to dream of living in a place where community is vital whether you are looking towards retirement, raising a family or just starting over which your green home and the upcoming 2010 dream home will fill.
My son in law is a Spanish and Japanese interpreter for our local pro baseball team the Seattle Mariners, so New Mexico is a favorite among all of us as well as we have lots of family in Florida awaiting us, ha! Thank you for allowing us to view both and follow the dream home so closely.
Aaaaaah, I will close my eyes and dream big of spending time gardening, reading, writing and enjoying family & grandchildren in such a serene and surreal setting, with such a connection to community and great cultural experiences.
Love the feeling of permanence in either setting that you’ve achieved. I could easily move right in! Thanks HGTV team you are terrific and so very entertaining and educational!

  3. I was really surprised to see that the new HG 2010 Home was located outside Santa Fe. I am so excited! It has been my lifelong dream to live in New Mexico. I love this area and grew up spending time there as a child, and I have always felt this force pulling me back to that area intermittenly throughout my life. It is my goal to eventually move and live out my life in the “Land of Enchantment”.

  4. Wow, how exciting for the Dream Home 2010 location to be on the Tourquois Trail! I lived in Albuquerque several years ago and loved it. I lived in the foothills of the Sandia mountains and driving home with the sun setting turned the mountains a watermelon color(the name Sandia came from..)
So much wonderful culture in the area with the hot air ballon fiesta, and the native american culture is wonderful to be a part of. I would love to move back and will be entering ever day!

  5. I lived in Bosque Encantado along the Rio Grande River in Bernalillo, NM for several years. I can atest to the fact that the 2010 Dream Home is being built in the most enchanting location yet. The mile high elevation has vibrant blue skies and the mountains turn a watermelon red at sunset. NM is a great place to live!

  7. Greetings Mary & Gail, I must say, New Mexico, absolutely, COOL choice for HGTV’s 2010 Dream Home.

I soo agree Moondoggy; It’s all about feelin it. You possess mega-smarts & common sense, a gift for picking the perfecto, dream home locations.

From one feeling person to another, for example the feeling I felt when I seen your handsome face for the first time. That special feelin, when, I hear that warm buttery caramel voice of yours. Just makes a girl want dessert before dinner is all.
    B. J. Thomas Hooked on a feelin la la laaa.

New Mexico it is, then you must, Moondoggy, incorporate into your overall design a ‘Mini Observatory” with a totally mind blowing personal telescope to checkout the beautiful NM shies, those starry nights, and one of the first to witness planet Nibiru approach from the South. We call it planetX over at town hall. Yeah, okay, whatever, I’m a huge conspiracy theorist, (I heard that). New Mexico has a few conspiracy theorist of there own. In defense of myself, don’t take my word for it.

There I was, just minding my own business, discovering the wonders and capabilities of my new high-speed internet… sorta like the difference between wagon trains & motor vehicles. Compounded by the humongous disappointment, in not only losing, the 2009 DH, in wine country. My favorite Monday night, Doctor ‘House’ season finale. I Otta!

Fast forward, while trying to decide on which state to relocate too, Cali, Iowa, NM, Washington, take full advantage of the mortgage fallout. Like, I mentioned, minding my own business, I pop over to enter my daily chance to win the 2009 Green Home.

I decide to mosey on over, have a-walk-about, so to speak. Two words ‘YouTube’ OMG!
I got close-lined, shanghaied, by watching Marshall Masters, Surviving 2012 and Planet X Part 1-5. What the planet-X is going on, propelling me to seek out my own truths.

Hmm first, what might, Stephen Hawking, and the likes of physicist Michio Kaku have to say on the subject of Nibiru.

After discovering soo many theories and the underground Norwegian military base, then lead me down a path of no return, and according to some of my family members, I’ve gone off the deep end, coo-coo-for-coco-puffs. Speaking of puffing, I promise, I’m not puffing anything.

So moving onto Planet X Town Hall, which just so happens to have, some really, (I mean really), smart NASA folks on board. Its no secret I would never be considered for hire with NASA. “The Geeks Don’t Want No Freaks” (Gotta busta rhyme here), Don’t you wish your girlfriend was hot like me… Don’t you wish your girlfriend was a freak like me! I’m just kidding! LOL, I refuse to allow those little factoids from engaging the super smart. Scripps, I know you’re laughing-out-loud.

Anyways, I learned that Nibiru is coming from the Southern hemisphere. Check it out Moondoggy, this is one of many reasons a cool mini observatory & telescope incorporated into HGTV’s NM 2010 Dream Home would be the ultimate to possess.

In closing, I just want to thank the person or persons responsible for inventing these short online videos, if not for them, I would be, missing out on our ever-so-hot-hot-hot, Jack Thomasson, Moondoggy caught on tape. Hooked on a feelin la la laaa Congrats, NM.

  17. Wow!! There is no more awesome place in the world than where you have picked to build. What a great spot. I moved away from NM back to TX after working 4 yrs on a reservation. My heart is still in NM remembering the fantastic sky paintings, as I call them – the fresh, dry air, all the open land to explore – the fantastic views in every direction. Whoever wins this house will be in absolute heaven. Judging from past house you’ve built, I’m sure this one will be stunning.

  18. OK, gang, I’m new to this so be gentle. You seem to be a fairly tight-knit group so I’m hoping you can add one more person to the group.

Back in the early 70s, I drove my little baby blue VW into Santa Fe and fell in love. A few years later, I volunteered at a little school in Chimayo, New Mexico and the love affair was sealed. I have been back several times and now that my sons are grown, I think that this may be the place I’d like to spend my Golden Elder Years. There is a reason this is called the Land of Enchantment. To whoever is lucky enough to make this your home, you will be blessed with so much more than just a home. And, should it be me, I promise a pajama party the likes of which you’ve never seen before.
    Signed ~

  20. Hi Patti Kerr, your post took me back girl… mentioning your 70’s baby blue VW. Remember, Hot Pants, Ditto high-waist jeans, Farrah Fawcett hair, (my heartbreaks for Farrah and her struggle with cancer). Charlie Angle’s (I wanted to be Jaclyn Smith, still a classic beauty), the Beach Boys, Motown, Jim Morrison, (too many greats to list).

Valerie Bertinelli, I had the pleasure of working with her father at GM for many years. Valerie the real deal, a genuine sweetheart. Remember shows like, Happy Days, (the fonz). Welcome Back Kotter, All in the Family, the Jefferson; Laugh In, Cheers, Bob’s Big Boy Drive In… Bubble up, RC Cola. Roller Skates, PF Flyers, Consequences & Good Manners. LOL

Drive-In theaters, (which would still be cool under those blue clear skies in NW). Steven Spielberg’s Jaw’s I still suffer from a mild case of Jaw’s PTS whenever near the water. Cruising, the Boulevard, OMG! Those really were some of the best times. Anyway, I had a Chevy Luv Truck then my 1975 lime green VW with a sunroof, that VW carried, (full of young crazy tanned girls in bikini’s), all summer long from the Valley to Zuma Beach. I honestly feel that was my favorite ride!

Thank you, Patti for spurring the stroll down memory lane. Possibly, Moondoggy, (Jack Thomasson), might incorporate some type of, classic VW dun buggy, maybe an outside soda fountain/outside theater, well stocked with some of the oldies but goodies incorporated into the New Mexico 2010 Dream Home.

Scripps, always made me feel welcome and so will you.

  23. It is a beautiful day to enjoy the sunshine at San Pedro Overlook! Having just moved here the beginning of March I never imagined such beauty. Even when describing high desert it did not seem appealing, however as I was driving up the mountains on the Turquoise Trail and saw all the beautiful undeveloped and preserved land on the east side of the Trail I knew this was a special place. And this morning the dream continues! Hope everyone has a great Sunday and Karyn: I only wish Mary & Lynn would come over and ask me if they could borrow a cup of sugar! LOL!

  24. Hmm, I better, go with the PG version, in my 70’s fantasy Moondoggy drive’s up in his candy apple red SS Super Sport Convertible with the 8-track tape blaring, jumps over the door in his tie-dye tank-top, Levi cut-offs & flip-flops. The biggest smile, that dervish grin, surely could break a young girl’s heart.

Knock, knock, Hello Miss Charlotte, (in that smooth southern black velvet voice), I do declare, my mama went to prepare her finest peach cobbler and learned our sugar jar was empty. Could you spare a cup or two? We don’t want to put you out none. Well now, Mr. Nascar, come in, shut the screen door behind you, we don’t want to let the flies in. Here JT take this jar to your mama, tell her, it is, my pleasure. Thank you Miss Charlotte, I’ll bring you some cobbler later. Anytime, now you slow down and tell your mama hello.

Now the conflict in this fantasy depending on what part of the 70’s we are tiptoeing through the tulips, there is a huge probability I could have been his babysitter and not his Mrs. Robinson. As those back tires spun up the dust from the dirt road, sending up exhaust clouds from a young man’s wild energy. The wind blowing through his long blonde sun-kissed locks, the music loud, as the lyrics begin to echo and fade off in the distance. I begin to tap my toes, sway from side to side swishin my sundress & hand sew apron, humming a few notes, I sing along to his righteous choice of tunes…

    A long long time ago
I can still remember how that music used to make me smile
And I knew if I had my chance
That I could make those people dance
And maybe they’d be happy for a while

    But February made me shiver
    With every paper I’d deliver
    Bad news on the doorstep
I couldn’t take one more step

    I can’t remember if I cried
When I read about his widowed bride
But something touched me deep inside
    The day the music died

    So,
    Bye-bye, Miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee
    But the levee was dry
Them good old boys were drinkin’ whiskey and rye
Singin’ this’ll be the day that I die
This’ll be the day that I die

    I started singin’
    Bye-bye, Miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee
    But the levee was dry
Them good old boys were drinkin’ whiskey and rye. La la laaa :)

  28. POD Cover Story in Astronomy and Technology Today
Read how POD came to be in Astronomy Technology Today. POD Creator, Wayne Parker, who’s a Grammy Nominated, Juno Award winning musician, writes about his dream of creating an affordable, highly functional observatory.

Click Here to read the story. Click Here to read an accompanying review by Dave Miller.

Thanks to the great people at ATT for their support!

I found this site/info on functional observatories. These are very, very, affordable.

Just imagine how much fun the lucky person would have, owning their very own Wayne Parker, I mean, observatory in your own backyard. I think the POD would go nicely with 2010 New Mexico Dream Home.

  29. Kat, sorry I missed your comment over at Green Home blog. The Native, 10 Commandments, is timeless in its teachings.

Thank you. Happy to know you appreciated those words of wisdom from ancestors that have long time passed on, yet lived their daily lives by those very words of great meaning & instruction. Many truths and depth in those wise old souls, like they new somehow, if future generations were not mindful bad things were in store for our beloved planet earth and its inhabits.

Perhaps since we now know better, we will do better. Like you, I love color too. I think it’s safe to assume, so did our Divine Creator. Even our planet, when viewed from a far off distance is breath taking.

Like a massive bowl of gooey blue goodness with swirls of heavy cream etching a creative design per each individuals visual perception.

The list is endless. California poppy fields in full bloom on a bright warm sunny day, unforgettable. Those Iowa oceans of emerald green cornfields, makes you ponder how they all manage to grow up to the same height, offering up such a beautiful nurturing sweet yellowness. So much natural beauty we take for granted Mother Nature’s Grandness we are blessed benefactors of her endless patients & devoted love.

Anyway, I personally wish you best luck when they spin the wheel, for the winner of this year’s, Green Dream Home, (A beautiful dream home); I get excited when Moondoggy JT announces the new location each year.

Sonoma, (Wine country), was my ultimate dream fancy, they came they built it, somebody else won it, boo hoo. In my world, you just cannot top Sonoma perfection.

On second thought, a chance at winning an Italianate Villa or Castle Dream Home, (besides, require the need for CPR), I cannot say fore sure, but where Scripps is concerned, there’s always tomorrow isn’t there.

However, in the meantime, (hint, hint), I do enjoy watching the excitement in others when our dream home locations are chosen & showcased.

Kat, I check-in about once a week (Have a walk-about so to speak). If you win the 2009 HGTV Green Dream Home, I’ll hear your screams ?

  31. New Mexico is so great! Especially the peace and quiet. I love the hot weather and the big sky. They have some of the most beautiful sunsets that you will ever see in your life! I would go outside almost every evening just to see all the beautiful colors. I grew up in New Mexico and miss it so much. And not so many people liked lightning, but sometimes I would even enjoy the “light show” nature has to give. Cant wait for this contest. I will be here more than once a week for sure!! This is MY HOME!

  32. Moondoggy, if you find yourself sailing down route66 with the top down, please slip in a,(nobody sings a-love song better), Elvis CD. Well, I cannot say it any better…

    Welcome to my world,
    Won’t you come on in
    Miracles, I guess
    Still happen now and then
    Step into my heart
    Leave your cares behind
    Welcome to my world
    Built with you in mind

Knock and the door shall be open
    Seek and you will find
    Ask and you’ll be given
The key to this heart of mine

    I’ll be waiting there
    With my arms unfurled
    Waiting just for you
    Welcome to my world
    Welcome to my world….

  35. Sometimes these smiley faces used in a post give me the creeps, they remind me of the song written by Norman Whitfield, ‘Smiling Faces,’ because… Well the words in the song say it all. Sorta, like the chucky doll.

Smiley faces sometimes pretend to be your friend
Smiley faces show no traces of the evil that lurks within
    Smiley faces, smiling faces sometimes
They don’t tell the truth uh
    Smiley faces, smiley faces
Tell lies and I got proof

The truth is in the eyes
Cause the eyes don’t lie, amen
    Remember a smile is just
    A frown turned upside down
My friend let me tell you
    Smiley faces, smiley faces sometimes
They don’t tell the truth, uh
    Smiling faces, smiling faces
Tell lies and I got proof
    Beware, beware of the handshake
    That hides the snake
    I’m telling you beware
Beware of the pat on the back
It just might hold you back
    Jealousy (jealousy)
    Misery (misery)
    Envy

I tell you, you can’t see behind smiling faces
Smiling faces sometimes they don’t tell the truth

Not you Moondoggy, your smiling face is precious & oh soo sexy.

  42. This is a perfect dream home and I love that there is land with it. I believe that is what makes a dream home. Do you know if there will be horses aloud in the community? Sounds like it would be perfect property and home for somebody with horses. with all the open space and all. Wouldn’t it be great if a mare motel or barn came with the home and an arena.

  43. I’ve been wanting to move to the SW for about 15 years now. My medical issues really can’t take the cold and humidity of MN anymore. I need a living environment that is safe and a bit less painfree! I’d be the happiest lady on the planet to live in such a wonderful location and home. I’d be secure and living safely for the first time in 20+ years! I could even go outside and just sit and take in the fresh air and view. I can’t recall the last time I was able to do that! I’d also be happy for the man in my life- he’s worked so hard for over 10 years now taking care of the daily work for me at the house and helping me with the things I just can’t do anymore. He, of all people, deserves something back for all the love and devotion he’s shown me because of my being disabled. To stay with a person and care about them in that situation takes a huge heart and alot of love. I want this for him….and me. God willing…

  44. I would hardly ever leave my house if this was mine. I would do my art and take care of my mother and grandmother and recycle. I have a great appreciation for this state as they try very hard to give back to the land and have sustainable homes and recycling is the norm. We have dreamt about a home like this all our lives. I am so happy that someone will live this dream. What a great location. I can’t wait to see the decor and all the eco friendly benefits in the home.
