  2. Well it looks like the casita will be way in the back and apart from the main part of the house. That’s nice, there will be privacy. Hope it has a kitchenette for long term “guests” (we all know about those family members who get down on their luck and just want to stay for a couple of weeks…….months…..uuuhhh) It would also be nice for a caretaker’s suite if this is used as a vacation home.

  3. Gorgeous sunset in this shot! We’ve been having some nice ones up here in CO too, with the afternoon clouds rolling in over the mountains.
Wow, I hadn’t looked at the pictures for a while, then I come back and all of a sudden the walls are up! Nice work. I love watching the progress and seeing these things come together in time-lapse style. I’ve also been watching the Blog Cabin be built over at DIYnetwork.com, it’s so much fun seeing it go from an empty lot to a beautiful home! Keep up the good work HGTV & DIY.

  4. Marie Miller,

You’re an Earth, Wind and Fire fan? You go girl!!! Sounds like an exciting tour. Hopefully I can catch it later.

    Lynn Coggin,

The Hot Air Balloon Fiesta is fantatic! Unfortunately I won’t be in Albuquerque then. If you go, enjoy! I won’t be in NM until November, but don’t tell Coop b/c I want to beat him there!

Louisville also has hot air balloons, especially around Derby time. The parties, hats, and Derby festivities are off the hook! There’s lots to do during the Derby, but I also love fall in Kentucky. There’s nothing like picking apples, sampling hot apple cider, and smelling the aromas from the bakery shop while waiting to pay for your produce.

    Renee loves and lives Green,

I never posted on the Winner’s blog. Too bad the comments were so negative. I hope Kari and Mike weren’t offended. They were chosen from almost 17 million entries. They should rejoice, not listen to those who envy them.

  6. Hey, I wonder if we could sneak over the Sandia Mountains in a Hot Air Balloon during the festival in Albuquerque and snap some “spy” photos of the Dream Home, or better yet, set down in the front yard, wave to the Dream Cam, and take a quick peek around?! Dedicated Dream Home bloggers have to be a resourceful lot….

Okay, just kidding, MARY. I don’t want to have to go sit in the corner for time out.

Speaking of, maybe HGTV could just route all of the “Awaiting Moderation” blog posts to me and ‘Show’—we’d be more than happy to weed out the undesirables faster than you can hit the delete button—zap, zap and ZAP!

For all the rest of us responsible bloggers, Happy Turquoise Trails, as always. And to Dutch and Pete Williams, keep up the good work. I’m sure we can count on at least one answer a week from each of you to bloggers’ questions, right?!

Okay, okay, MARY…I’ll stop trying to incite my fellow bloggers to unrealistic expectations, or entice Dutch and Pete to risk incurring the wrath of HGTV’s legal eagles. Sheesh, you know I’m just kidding again.

In all seriousness, I wish the very best to Kari and Mike Coffey on their Green Home win.

  8. Hi everyone. Great to see so many here. :)
I am glad I was able to post a congrats to Kari and Mike before it got very ugly. We all know the winers come out when the winner is revealed. I hope that kari and Mike know that those who do this ar just being sore losers.
I must confess that when I started watching the photos of this great home in New Mexico, I was drawn like a nail to a magnet or a moth to a flame. I have driven through NM twice going both ways to CA to ship my car to Hawaii. I still remember the views. I also went out with my Young Life group to Colorado by train when I was 16. I love the
    area.
Have great evening everyone. Dream big.

  10. Hah, since Danny came up with the idea, I guess I can’t get in too much trouble for it…BUT, can you picture this: a big black bear standing in the front entry doorway of the Dream Home…and WAVING at the Dream Cam!

Now, I bet that would get immediate attention from the folks at HGTV—AND Dutch and Pete Williams.

Okay, maybe another bad idea. I promise to wait patiently at my computer for more photos and video from MARY, a few bits of inside information every now and then via the guys on the job in SPO, and of course, those beautiful sunsets and bear-free shots from the Dream Cam.

  11. Alma Casiano: Just curious, why are your comments always duplicated?

hugatree: Yep, I do like the home & its floor plan, but I’m still partial to my Lightkeeper’s House Plan. Did you get a chance to see it? I’m now thinking maybe HGTV will see fit to build it either as the next Gream Home (in Massachusetts would be every so appropriate), or save it for the DH2022? Take a look, I would be interested in what you think: http://www.garrellassociates.com/LighthouseHousePlan.html

    Isn’t it fabulous?

Lessie: As a matter of fact I am a GREAT fan of Earth, Wind & Fire!! And, did you know that in 2004 and 2005, the two bands teamed up for what is still talked about as one of the great musical spectaculars in recent touring history? Another noteworthy bit of information about Earth, Wind & Fire and Chicago is that they banded together to aid food banks. In exchange for cans of food or a donation, fans could download three new songs recorded earlier! Fantastic don’t you think? :)

Well, back at the dream home, or maybe we should say ranch home (?), I’m still laughing about Coop’s comment about the a big black bear standing in the front entry doorway of the Dream Home…and WAVING at the Dream Cam! Oh my, I get so many different visuals from that! I can’t help but think of Miss GoldieLocks & the Three Bears, who live in the house featuring three chairs, three bowls of porridge, and three beds!!
Heaven only knows what will happen when the bears discover in turn that someone has been eating from their porridge, sitting in their chairs, and finally, lying in their beds!! Do you think the Dream Cam will discover GoldiLocks roaming around the framing site just waiting to try out her new abode? Will the HGTV follow the ‘GoldiLocks Principle?’ That this home will be just right in a manner akin to that portrayed in the tale? One of the three bears has already been sited waiving at the cam…watch out GoldiLocks!! :)

  12. Cynthia, you are right!! I was able to get a comment over to Kari and Mike. I let them know that all of the real “blogging buddies” really are so excited for them, will support them, will answer any questions that they have and most of all want them to keep in touch …. to tell us everything that they feel, see and experience in the GH2009!! I also told them to have lunch at Hurricanes, because the food there is sooooo good!! I am so excited to see that there is a little girl to enjoy the kid’s room!!! What a coincidence!! Every year they change it out…boy’s room, girl’s room and a few times it was gender neutral… Let’s see what happens for 2010!! Of course, I would love a big boy’s room as my son will be 9 and he loves bigger furniture and grown up “stuff”, like his computer, book shelf, desk, leather chair, queen size bed and his art work that he is collecting!! He has to have a bigger bed as he ends up sleeping at the end of the bed side ways!!LOL!! I was laughing so hard when I heard people saying that the “Sweepstakes” was set up because the winners have a daughter!! hahahahaha …. come on!! DBCoop, I hope you mean a Bear Statue!! Maybe mechanical…. maybe stuffed.. Or even like Danny said, a bear suit… Hey, that could hide another camera inside (to give us another view) and keep away any trouble makers! Okay, now that I think about it, that would be crazy because it may get the attention of a real bear looking for a hibernating friend!! No bears!! Has anyone been to Stuffy’s in Albuquerque??? It is delicious with stuffed sopapias (spelling??) with beans, lettuce, tomatoes, green or red chilies, etc.. (has meat if you like)… Oh, I can taste it now… Has anyone stayed at Seret’s One Thousand and One Nights??? Their casitas are amazing!!! They own the furniture store in the center of town, too!! It is a beautiful place to stay!!! They have the traditional furnishings and a fireplace in the front room!!! Needlessly to say, I love it there!! Lessie and Lynn, I love the Hot Air Balloon Festival!! I remember being there during Christmas one year and it was beautiful because the lit up a lot of the Balloons and the luminarios’ where everywhere!!! Talk to you all later..I have to go for a swim before the storms come again!!!!

  14. Renee loves Green: Oh my goodness Renee, it’s only 8:00 a.m. here in Brookings and you are making me hungry already for dinner…the restaurants in New Mexico sound devine!! Hopefully, I’ll get to travel there soon and try out all the Mexican cuisines you speak of!! Mexican cuisine is as exciting, colorful, and varied as the culture of its country. The strings of dried chilies that are the color of fire, baskets of exotic fruits and vegetables, stacks of tortillas and bowls of beige rice against black beans only hint at the array. I’m so ready for one of those meals that is distinctly Mexican!!! Not all Mexican recipes are fiery, though…thank goodness as I do not tolerate too much heat; many subtle and intriguing spice combinations are also found in Mexican fare. There is a small Mexican restaurant next to Old Town in San Diego that has the best Mexican food I’ve ever experienced…just fabulous….and, you will be intrigued by the ladies making the homemade tortillas…such an art to watch them make them! Okay, I’ve forgotten the best part about Mexican Fiestas…the margauritas!! ¡Esta bebida es mi más predilecto y usted podemos conseguir el margauritas más grande que yo jamás he visto en da de Casa Pecos en San Diego!! :)

  17. It seems to me from the cam pics so far is that it’s going to be like a Texas adobie bunkhouse style I saw on hgtv a couple of years ago,or some kind of Craftman greenhome hybrid(In a adobie shell) with a lot of prefabrecated sections to cut down the cost and material waste from on site constuction. Danny

Danny on July 2, 2009 at 12:25 pm
  18. By a voice vote, I guess we’d better scratch the bear suit idea. Although as Renee loves Green mentioned, a toy stuffed black bear might make just the perfect room decor accessory. (Take note, GH designers.)

Marie Miller, not sure if you’re thinking about the Old Town Mexican Cafe (which is right in the center of Old Town, San Diego), but the food is excellent there. It’s been a favorite for many years, and it truly is fun to watch the women making the tortillas by hand. And talk about margaritas, if you tried sampling one at each of the restaurants in Old Town, they’d have to carry you back to your car—but well worth the inconvenience!

By the way, I had an email from the folks at Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Georgia—so I’ll pass on the info: they’ll celebrate July 4th with a “Red Hot and Blue” Star Spangled Beach Party, including a live band, fireworks, of course, and much more. So if you happen to be in the area….

    Happy Turquoise Trails, pardners.

  19. YES! COOP! It is the Old Town Mexican Restaurant…I cannot begin to tell how much I’ve enjoyed the meals there…especially breakfast…yes, breakfast (they have the best Old Town Steak and Eggs)!! Love it, love it!! Nice to know someone knows exactly what I’m talking about!! Thanks for letting me know, and you say that Callaway Gardens contacted you…could the person actually be Patsy? Just curious..’cause if it is, she is my cousin!! :)

  20. Marie Miller,

I’m an Earth, Wind and Fire fan also. Lionel Richie was my favorite member BUT…

As much as I love the Temptations, Quincy Jones, Kirk Whalum, Kenny G and others, no one in my opinion is more gifted than Michael Jackson. His fluidity, creativity, and overall genius have no equal. Overall, he’s the greatest.

Lessie on July 2, 2009 at 9:13 pm
  21. Lessie: You’ve got it!! And, Lionel Richie is my most favorite of all times!!! :)

  22. Hi there Lessie & Marie Miller (and all of my other blogging buddies)!

Wait, I’m pretty sure Lionel Richie was a member of The Commodores. Maurice White was my favorite EW&F member!

  23. Lynn Coggin,

You’re absolutely right! Lionel Richie was the lead singer for the Commodores. Maurice White is a good musician but he certainly couldn’t melt the butter on my toast like Lionel Richie! What can I say, I like both groups.

  24. Okay, I’m new at this. What do you do with the “copy and paste” code when you hit “menu”? Do you get more up to date dreamcam photos? Why aren’t we getting more up to date photos then the month of May?

  25. Jackie, when you call up the dream cam click on the thumbnails. Put your cursor all the way to the right side of the thumbnails at the bottom of the picture. The thumbnails will scan to the right, when they stop you will be on the latest picture posted. Hope that helps.
