Are You Ready to Party?

We are! In fact, we’re planning a big bash that will be held at HGTV Dream Home 2010 … and we want you to help us pick the party theme!

Designer Monica Pedersen has developed three themes, plus invitations. Check them out, then vote for your favorite (up to 10 times per day). We’ll reveal the results during the HGTV Dream Home 2010 special that airs in January.

  1. (continued)

The team of experts will cook a variety of dishes and discuss ingredients from regions with historical ties to Santa Fe's cuisine, including Mexico, Spain and the pueblos of the American Southwest. Emphasizing the long history of ingredients like corn in the diets of people living in and around Santa Fe, chef Durham called the cuisine of Santa Fe "possibly the first fusion cuisine, as well as the home of the first prepared foods (like tortillas or tamales) in the region." Asking Francophiles not to take offense, Durham added that "thousands of years ago in Paris, the proto-French were still in the woods eating each other, while here, people were saying, 'would you like another tamale?' " The free demonstrations will be held from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sept. 5 and 6.

  3. Thanks, Lynn Coggin—I'm reading your Sabores de Santa Fe post just around dinner time, and I WAS planning a light meal. Now I'm going to have to head down to my favorite Mexican restaurant for some slightly heavier Southwestern fare, y una cerveza Carta Blanca!

    Happy Turquoise Trails!

  4. Becky Moncrief, I'm not sure who all will be invited, but I bet MARY is busy writing those invitations at this very moment, or at last passing on her guest list to Monica Pedersen!

I'm sure Dream Home bloggers, wherever they may live, will be watching the mail for one of those highly prized invitations to the Santa Fe Soirée.

  5. Marie Miller, have you found time to follow the Design Star path of your fellow Oregonian, Dan Vickery, through his triumphs and tribulations of the various challenges? (I'm including EdinOregon in that question also.)

My sense is that despite a few stumbles, he will go on to become a rising star among HGTV's constantly growing and evolving bevy of talented design professionals.

I wish him every success, as I do to all of the Design Star challengers who have the courage to step forward in front of the cameras for millions of viewers. These daring souls will endure weeks of toil and torment, and be rewarded with strongly opinionated bloggers (like me!) who will criticize, chastise, or congratulate them episode after challenging episode. Better them than me! Why even the judges are fair game in this program…watch out David Bromstad and Kim Myles, your turn in the judges hot seat may be only a season away!

  8. Good morning my blogging buddies! Wine, wine, wine…It looks like there are some crazy wine festivities happening soon in the local area near our next Dream Home. Here's the info:

On September 5th, 6th, and 7th – The New Mexico Wine Festival at Bernalillo wraps up the summer with the premier wine festival of the southwest! Just north of Albuquerque, the historic town of Bernalillo is host to the biggest wine festival in the state. Lots of great music, arts and crafts, and those summer foods we all love make a perfect backdrop for wine, wine, wine!

Live entertainment and 20 or more New Mexico wineries will be present. There will be free wine tasting and wine available for purchase by the glass, bottle, or case. Street and fee parking is available around the festival. Lush green grass makes for a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. Over 20,000 are expected to attend the biggest and oldest wine festival in New Mexico, now in its 22nd year.

New Mexico Bloggers – Let us know if you attend this event!
