Welcom back Gail! The wide open floor plan sounds great. I have always felt Linda's decorating was too cluttered. Wide open bringing nature in, with a Southwest theme sounds great!
Hi, Gail. I'm a fairly new blogger on this site. Really enjoying all the blogs, video logs and comments. I do have a question….though it's more about the exterior than the interior. Are they going to put Vegas (I think that's what they're called) on the exterior of the house. Do I have that word right….vegas (pronounced veegahs, I think)…the logs that protrude from the exterior just below the roof line? I think that gives an adobe home a rustic elegance.
Rhonda Foster, after your second post, you can no longer claim "I'm a fairly new blogger." You're one of us. In fact, it seems that you're a regular.
As for your question, I'll let the pros answer it.
this is annoying. its been two weeks since theyve updated the dream cam. wonder whats going on there????
Hi Gail, I love the way you search out information to share with us! Thanks for all you do for your wonderful bloggers. Can't wait to hear all the other good "stuff" you have for us.
FYI: If you ever feel overwhelmed from hearing all the fan-tabulous stuff Jack, Linda or Monica shares with you, I've got the perfect solution for you. Email me and unload as much as you want. I promise not to share anything you tell me. But if you reply to my post, I won't hold it against you. It's good for all of us bloggers to get the "inside scoop!"
Gail, can't envision sitting near the windows, extending my arms and feeling like I'm outside. Since I'm challenged in this area, ask Linda for more details or a website that gives us an idea of what she envisions for this gorgeous dream home.
PS I'm also available if Linda wants to run some ideas by me before implementing them in the home.
Dear Gail,
Glad to see you back as our SUPER FAN. My question is, will there be a guest designer helping Linda with the interior decorating of the 2010 dream home this year ?. Not just one room, but like a co-designer. This years dream home interior should be as fantastic as the exterior. Some one like Candice Olson would do justice for this home in helping as a co-designer.
Dear Gail: So very very happy to see your sparkling face with new information for us to mull over!! I can only imagine what georgeous & amazing views will be seen from the windows of the DH2010!! Capturing the location with open spaces in this home will be spectacular!! I cannot think of a better way to feel the nature surrounding this abode from window seats that feel like they are part of the natural setting. It will probably feel as though you can stretch your arms up to the clouds & touch heaven!! Thank you for sharing some of Linda's secrets!!
Now for my question to you! Choosing a window treatment for a large window can sometimes be a challenge, so what does Linda have up her sleeve for the wide open spaces of the DH2010? Will she opt to install a type of vertical window treatment, such as a vertical blind or panel track sliding blind? Or, maybe horizontal window treatments, such as cellular shades and wood blinds, which work best on windows that are taller than they are wide, and enhance a cozy and casual decor.
I hope there is some kind of over hang over each window outside because the sun is a killer when it streams directly in.I have this problem with my house now.I have 11 windows looking out at the lake and its brutal when the sun beats in, and blinds dont help, they just ugly up the windows so you cant see out.If there was a overhang the sun would be muted and the view would be priceless.I need to see more of the house.Cant wait for the super southwestern decor.
About the window treatments: I remember seeing on an HGTV show, I think it was Candice Olson, about blinds between the window panes that could be activated by a remote control. Does anyone else remember this? I would love that treatment as I can't see any fabric adorning the windows. But Linda always has something up her sleeve.
And Karyn, I like your idea of an overhang to mute the sun beating in, but I'm learning it gets cold at night.
Stay tuned. Hopefully, Coop will be back soon to set us on the right Turqouise trail.
Thanks so much Gail and Mary!! This is Awesome!!
Hey Gail, When it comes to the outdoor features, what can we expect with landscapes and amenities (i.e. pool, patio, deck, etc.)?
Thanks so much!!
Hi Gail,
I'm glad that hgtv finally figured out that you're irreplaceable – of course your bloggers have known this all along! Speaking of questions, I noticed that there are environmentally conscious features to this house (like the recycling room and heated flooring). What other green features will be incorporated into the house? In particular, I was wondering about water conservation, which is a major concern in the Southwest.
thanks!
Please update the pictures on the cam and clean the lense. Also, can you tell us if there will be a pool and firepit?
I love the green features, such as a separate room for recycling and radiant floor heating system. However, a swimming pool would be keen. Will there be one???
Gail,
We were thrilled to see you back!
My wife is a social worker in Texas. I would love to see her working in Santa Fe and utilizing her Spanish on a regular basis.
You all did a great job with choosing the new location. Will there be a pool? We have a large family and a pool is a perfect vacation at home in the hot summer months.
Hope to see you there!
Austin
What a great location. I need this house. Will I be able to use a wheel chair in this home?
As in an open shower and wide door ways.
This is a lovely house.

Hi ! i'm a brand new blogger. I've been reading all the other blogs and i've gleaned some great info. It seems the 2010 Design Home is to be in Santa Fe, with an open floor plan and the wonderful Linda Woodrum wll again dress another great house. I've watched HGTV since the first show and learned so much. My husband and I have entered for each of the homes built and dreamed how we would live in them. We are lookig forward to seeing the completed home and enering to win it ! Gail, I'm looking forward to future scoops on the 2010 Dream Home. A pool sounds great but will there be a fire pit for entertaining on those cool Southwestern evenngs ? Will there be any "real garden" or the typical rock and cactus landscape ?
All that I know is that I want this home!!!! What a great place for a writer or an artist. I have a friend visiting in a few days and I can'[t wait to show her New Mexico through my eyes. She lives in San Diego and the only wide open space there is the ocean. Don't get me wrong. That's a great place to live, however millions of other people have also discovered it. There is no getting away from people. I love breathing fresh mountain air here in Santa Fe. Best of luck to the winner.

Congratulations Gail on hosting for an additional year. Next year I’m going to send in a video. I’ve been blessed with my business and haven’t had the time to make one. A pool in New Mexico?I don’t think so. Window treatments? Take a look out the window at the scenery. Why would you cover the windows? Just let the “sunshine in and face it with a grin”. The sun is brilliant in New Mexico. I love reading these blogs. Everyone has an idea of what these homes should be. Does HGTV really listen?
Hi Gail, first time comment to HGTV houses. This is certainly a fun process, I really enjoy all the comments and videos from contractors. I live in the desert and try to catch rain water from the monsoons to water my plants, something built in would be a great eco idea for the home.

I dream of this home – in my dreams. I love to cook, so, of course, the kitchen and views are my favorite part of the home. The amenities are well thought out and carefully placed. The high faucets, stainless sinks, storage, drawer microwave, wine cooler, splendid counter space, non-obstructive lighting….. I still think this is the most fun place to have a bed and breakfast, ski-in and ski-out. Socialize, have fun and work and live at home. A real Dream Come True. Good luck everyone. We all want to win this one. Even the housewarming gifts are thoughtful. Great job HGTV.
