Your Vote Could Change History
Okay, okay. Maybe not history. But it could change the theme of our HGTV Dream Home 2010 party. You have through September 24 at 5 p.m. ET to cast your vote. Super Fan shares her thoughts in our latest video – watch and weigh in.

Hi Gail! So happy to see you back with us! Congrats on your continued SuperFan job! I look forward to seeing more blogs from you throughout this year!
Okay, I have a question…what will the flooring be like in this Dream Home? I know Lumber Liquidators and Shaw have done fabulous jobs in the past but will we have true adobe type floors made of stone, clay, etc.?
Thanks Gail for any input you give us at this time!
Hope all is well in SF!
Living the Dream!
P.S. Gail…can’t wait to see ‘smore’ of you! Okay, I just couldn’t resist that one and menat to put it in my previous post!
Living the Dream!
Yes that is a great question,I would love big plank wood flooring and southwest tile in the rooms. No carpet, hate it.I cannot wait to see this house and what they are going to do with it. I love the southwestern furniture that can be found online in New Mexico,Arizona and Texas etc.The style just makes you feel like breathing it all in,looking out over the range, kickin your boots off and enjoying a sunset.Yee haw
Hello Super Fan GAIL. It was so nice to receive your visit. Thanks for dropping by–online of course!!
I have carefully and with considerable thought and attention to every detail of the three options, cast my ten votes for the day. Which one? That must remain one of history’s mysteries!
By the way, GAIL, will there be ceiling fans in each room of the house I hope? They are so helpful in circulating the air in desert environments, creating a sense of refreshing coolness without using the energy thirsty A/C.
Happy Turquoise Trails, pardners!
Welcom back Gail. I too have cast my secret ballotts. Did anyone else notice that the latest pictures of the Dream Home Cam appear to have solar panels on the roof. Pretty cool Dream & Green together.
Hi Gail! Long time no see…welcome back!
I cast my 10 votes! I’d be happy with any choice as long as the mixologist comes up with a drink using my favorite “Firefly” sweet tea vodka!
OMG!!! When can I enter? I have been waiting so long for them to build in the west and this is so perfect for what I want!! I am an artist and I paint southwestern scenery and have longed to live in this area. I so hope I win. Can’t wait for more details!
Okay, I know that it has been since June that I have blogged!!! Oooppppsss!!! So rude!! I have finally settled in and my little munchie is in school (by the way, loving it…he has been so understanding and brave to start all over….. I love that little,,,now, I should switch to calling him,,, BIG Boy!!! So Proud!!!!!) !! No more company and almost all of the artwork is hanging… I large piece, still sitting along the wall.. How are you all?? I miss you so much and all of the wonderful advise..!! Probably will be needing more!!! Coop, I hope that they install ceiling fans in every room!!! It is necessary in the Summer !! Plus, open the windows in the Fall and Spring…. Spendid!!! Lynn, I love plank floors too!!! The older, the better!!! ED, I love that the added the solar panels!!! I am proud of HGTV to use Green Elements, to protect the environment and the owners of the homes!!! Gail, I can’t believe that we are actually and officially planning the PARTY!!! How awesome!! Okay,,, enough, enough… Talk to you all, again!! Love life by living green!!
Ahhhhh Gail: WELCOME HOME!! We have ALL missed you! Thank you for the new post, and please know that I, too, have cast my vote with the hopes that we are all in this one together! Are you still in San Francisco, or are you ‘on-site’ enjoying the Santa Fe amenities? You say a new drink is in the making? How special is that? It must be fit for all the Savvy Soirees you know…you know?
Renee loves Green: Welcome back…we missed your comments & happy to her that you little guy, oops I mean big guy, is doing so well!
My questions for Gail:
1. Will there be a pool in the backyard?
2. Will there be a closed in back porch..screened?
3. Will there be a moat around the property to keep slithering creatures out?
4. Will there be a roof-top oasis?
5. Will the master bedroom have a separate sitting room?
6. Will there be a ceiling to floor library room?
7. Will there be solar involved for heating and cooling, especially since there is so much heat there in the summer?
8. Will there be an attached garage?
9. Will there be tile throughout instead of wood floors?
10. Will there be a moat around the property to keep slithering creatures out? (Think I like this question the best!!)
Marie, thank you for your warm welcome-back!! And I love your questions!!! We know if you win, we could purchase some of those high frequency devices to keep out uninvited guests, no matter how many legs (even without), for your home warming party!! Talk to you again, soon!!! Love life by living green!!
I LOVE TO RUN!!!! will there be good running trails close to the house that I can just walk out of my front door and go for a jog ALL YEAR ROUND? For me, location is more important than the house itself.
Renee loves Green, welcome back online. You have been missed. Each one of our blogging friends has a unique input to add to the mix, and even one vacancy is noticed!
Marie Miller, nix the moat idea…this is desert terrain remember, albeit high desert, and water ATTRACTS all kinds of creatures! Being as this is Area 51 territory, and prone to aliens, better to protect life and limb with a protective energy shield, a la Star Trek!
Okay, Captain Miller, deploy the shields, and break out the Santa Fe Soirée party hats!
Coop: I guess you are right about the moat not being the best way to protect the Dream Home in Santa Fe from the servants of the dark world! How about a Sentinel Electronic Snake Repeller for protection!! Am I serious here? Yes! I really want HGTV to install this device to stand guard and protect this home day and night…the pulse will trigger the retreat instinct in our slithering intruders & I could sleep better!!
Also, remember once the shields are deployed, we become vulnerable, and more easily destroyed by our alien friends! Ahhh, I get it, just offer the buddies from above one of our Santa Fe Soirée party hats, and transformation begins! Fabulously fun filled times ahead…thank you HGTV!!! Dreaming BIG!!
Gail,
Great to see that you have returned!
We would love to see Saltillo tile used throughout the home. My in-laws built a home several year’s ago in La Jolla California that was georgeous. I have seen pitcures of the tile used throughout the entire home. The tile is pretty much child resistent! One does need to be aware that if you drop a heavy item the tile will crack.
Marie Miller,
The Sentinel Electronic Snake Repeller is an exellent idea. I did a little research on this unique protection from snakes. The system admits a pulsating vibration to all kinds of snakes. The effectiveness increases when two or more systems are utilized. One sytem is $130.00 and two systems cost $240.00. This also protects snakes from entering into garages and under rocks near your home. It is a shame that they do not make this system for black bears in the mountains!!
Gail, will there be a swimming pool in the back yard? A pool would be a great relief from the extreme heat of the summer months in that area.
We were truely excited to finally decide that as a family smore’s and barbeque would be a perfect party theme. Our family spends the entire summer in our back yard. My wife and I love to barbeque, swim and play with the dogs and kids. All of our children and Mom love chocolate!!! Bring on the smores.
Dreamin In The Mountains!
Let’s see, Marie Miller, electronic snake repeller on, check; shields deployed, check; party hats in place, check…. Excuse me while I interrupt this post in order to go change history today, ten times no less, with my vote on the 2010 party theme!
Thank you Coop!!! You crack me up with each and every blog!! Hope your summer and travels were wonderful… I am still reading through the blogs to see what I missed, etc!! I missed you all !!!! Okay, I posted my vote 10 times for the Party, three days in a row, now!! I know, I am behind!!! My big boy scored 4 goals on his new soccer team this morning!! Though, I did not win the beautiful green home, I have enjoyed the opportunity to move here to the oceanside and am very thankful for this new way of life… it is much different than the desert…. Not, saying that the desert is bad….not, at all!!! We just needed a change after 20 years!!! Marie, I love the idea of a sitting room off of the master bedroom!! And the floor to ceiling library!! Okay, back to reading the blogs!!! Love life by living green!!
Renee loves Green, your boy scored FOUR goals for his soccer team this morning? That’s more than I scored in a lifetime! Hey, I’m talking about soccer here, remember.
Happy Turquoise Trails and Soccer Tales!
I’m feeling so empowered these days—as I sit with focused intention, my body tensed, my expression a look of unstoppable determination, adrenaline coursing through my veins, my fingertips pulsing with electric energy, poised with absolute certainty to deliver yet another hit on the keyboard, and thus change the course of history by voting in the HGTV 2010 Dream Home party theme poll. Wow, now that’s a daily regimen well worth repeating!
Onward Turquoise Troopers & Party Pardners!
Oh, my gosh; my dream home for sure. Going to have to win this one so i can return to ol fair NEW MEXICO WHERE I WAS BORN AND STILL HAVE LOTS OF FAMILY. THE SANTA FE THEME IS AWESOME TO CELEBRATE THE DIVERSE CULTURE AND THE SURROUNDINGS ARE BEAUTIFUL. I LOVE TO SWIM SO INCLUDE THE POOL AND HOT TUB FOR MY AGING BODY. I WILL BE JUST ACROSS THE MOUNTAINS FROM TWO OF MY BROTHERS AND FAMILIES AND NOT TOO FAR FROM THE SANDIA CREST VIEW OF THE RIVER AND ALBUQUERQUE.
HOME SWEET HOME; HERE I COME……..
GAYLA
I’ve planned and given so many parties in my life, I would be so happy to give this theme up to Monica and you voters. Food and drinks (oh, I’ll be watching that bartender for new ideas) are wonderful, but I can’t give a party without music. Maybe a ten minute live presentation and then softly in the background. In my mind I hear guitars, a trumpet, and percussion. Am I heading in the wrong direction here? Party hats shoud have wide brims to block out the sun, right? But none of those dingle-dangle balls.
Time to go back to the plans to consider ceiling fans (yes) pools (yes) snake defenses (yes). Well, maybe I’ll sleep on it.
It all sounds good to me, Katydid. Could you slip in some “South of the border” music now and then, you know, a bit of mariachis and margaritas stuff?
Is there a fireplace in the dream home? I could not tell from the floor plans. Thanks!
Oh dear, same problem here. I know HGTV must be working feverishly to get it fixed. Good Luck.
When can we start entering! I sooo would love to win!
Everyone does the Santa Fe scene theme and I know because I live here. Let's try something contemporary for a change. The colors are vibrant and alive and so is the menu. Great job HGTV!
Gail,
Finally, we all agree that in our family a barbeque, great salad, french bread, and chocolate smores wins!
The drink that our family decided upon, is a Margarita with a twist of mint. Of course with our children we will need to have a refreshing lemonaide or root beer with homemade ice cream.
Everyone will have to bring their own beach towels for the pool. There is no sweeter place in the world than a place with water, family, friends, and great food. Let the party begin!!!!
Dream Big!
Okay guys! I cannot believe what I have been going through with my computer the past three days!! Yikes!! I was attacked by the Malware Maniacs!! It had to happen on Friday & no techs in town to remedy the problems! I could not access any of my programs…nil!! What a horrid feeling! Well, I finally got in touch with the local computer guru to come to my home to unlock the mysteries of computer complexities & here I am…better protected! Unfortunately, I will have to comment as a Guest for now!!
It will take me a while to get back in the grove, but I'm happy to be back to HGTV Land among the Plymouth Pilgrims!!
Mary;
When will we know about the winning party theme? All of my votes are for SANTA FE SOIREE to win.
I agree its southwest after all you know
Great! Took me a minute to get my bearings and realize that we've switched back to the IntenseDebate format, and seem to be down a number of previous posts in the process. Oh well, I'll have to get used to accessing the internet through Internet Explorer instead of AOL once again. By the way, oddly enough, a while back, when I contacted IntenseDebate technical support (they were very helpful) I was told to use Internet Explorer 7 or 8, or Mozilla Firefox, rather than AOL. Later, when I had further problems, HGTV's tech support told me their system does NOT support IE8, which is exactly what I'm using! Fathom that!
So, Marie Miller, I'm sorry to hear of your big-time computer funky stuff. I dread those "beyond my comprehension" high-tech nightmares. Don't hesitate to contact IntenseDebate tech support, Marie, if your signin or password is presenting a problem. They are very supportive, and quick to respond, in my experience.
Anyway, glad to have you back among the blogging. Guest or otherwise, the community always looks forward to your posts.
And now, with only a few days remaining to change the course of history before the 24 September 5 pm ET closing date, I'm off to rock the vote!
Oh, it's so good to see everyone again! I had so many glitches…not sure if part was my computer and part HGTV…anyway, we're back…YAY!
Can't wait to see which enchanting party we will be attending!
Living the Dream!
Marie Miller – Do you remember the 21st night of September?
Living the Dream!
Dear LynnCoggin: You have me! My mind is feeble at the moment, and the dust is just now clearing after the confusion of computer crashing crazies!!! So, please tell me…take me back….does it have to do with the Sonoma Dream Home? I do know that I visited Sonoma last year at this time with the dream of owning it! Ahhhh, history has a way of haunting us!!
Hi Marie…..Let me refresh your memory…okay, I'm taking you back…to the 70's…I know we share the love of a certain group…
Do you remember the 21st night of september?
Love was changing the minds of pretenders
While chasing the clouds away
Our hearts were ringing
In the key that our souls were singing.
As we danced in the night,
Remember how the stars stole the night away
Ba de ya – say do you remember
Ba de ya – dancing in september
Ba de ya – never was a cloudy day
My thoughts are with you
Holding hands with your heart to see you
Only blue talk and love,
Remember how we knew love was here to stay
Now december found the love that we shared in september.
Only blue talk and love,
Remember the true love we share today
Ba de ya – say do you remember
Ba de ya – dancing in september
Ba de ya – never was a cloudy day
Ba de ya – say do you remember
Ba de ya – dancing in september
Ba de ya – golden dreams were shiny days
Living the Dream!
Earth Wind and Fire sweet love them!!
Aww I saw E,W&F in Phx this summer…danced my head off (almost) LOL
I'm with you karyn and sagg99….love, love them….oh, how I loved 1978! LOL!
Living the Dream!
Lynn, the song came to my mind immediately! Yeah, that was a good one!
Hi Coop! Yes, it certainly has been a "beyond my comprehension" high-tech nightmare!! I am now so afraid of logging into anything that might start a worm hole, that I am also afraid of signing up for the intensedebate option! It is uncomprehensible to me that there are people out there just dreaming up ways of either making money and/or messing up your computer!! By the way, I am now using Mozilla Firefox also! I do not want to subject my computer to the madness I just went through every again!!! Having that said, thank you very much for your support and advice as you know I value your imput!!
footnote: Another irritating thing…I have to type in my name & email every time I want to submit comment….wassup? Why doesn't it remember me? Amazing how quickly we are forgotten?
did you log in to this blog at the top next to number of comments?
Marie Miller, Forgotten? Never, not you!!! The computer may not remember but your blogging buddies certainly remember and value you!
Marie, I can't be sure, but I'd say your internet security settings may be set on "High", which prevents sites, including this one, from retaining your sign-in info. I keep mine set on "Medium-High". If that's not the case, well, the internet browser you use could have security "firewalls" to prevent the retention of that info, or, it could be a residual software glitch. The internet security setting is the easiest to correct, the others are more work, especially a software glitch. Our thoughts are with you, for here in the blog you are a vital part of the Dream Home Turquoise Team.
Marie, Coop is right! You are a vital part of the Dream Home Turquoise Team. Hope it's a simple computer glitch.
I just looked at the most recent photos from the Dream Cam. It is so beautiful. Next time I go to the beach, I am going to build a sand castle that looks just like that!
Living the Dream!
Only TWO more days to vote for your oh so perfect par-tee theme in San Pedro Overlook! Vote, vote, vote!
Living the Dream!
I was so confused yesterday!!! See, that's what happens when you take a few months off!! I did get my votes in, though! Do we have to sign in with Intensedebate again in order to have our name pull up automatically? Hope everyone has a wonderful week!! Just wanted to check in today! Love life by living green!!
Hey Renee loves and lives Green,
I'm so glad to see you back!!!! Hope all is well and that you've adjusted to your new home.
Coop and Marie Miller: Your knowledge of computers makes me feel like I am learning my ABC's and you guys have earned your Doctorate. I only want to be on the Dream Home blog…..no I.D. for me. Hope you resolve your problems soon, but I wonder how you manage to blog so wonderfully here???? and still want more intense talk? ??
I'm pretty sure which party will win (well, you can't go wrong with any of them) .
My question for Gail: Will there be a water feature? Something bigger than a fountain, but smaller than a full size pool? It would be fun to get wet, inside and out, at that party.
Good question Katydid. I'd love to see a pool but I haven't quite figured out how you would get wet both inside and outside at the party. Please explain.
Reneelovesgreen – It is so nice to hear from you again! Hope you're enjoying FL!
Katydid – Keeping my fingers crossed for a water feature of some sort!
Living the Dream!
Well, Katydid, my knowledge of computers is just enough to get me into trouble. All I know is by trial and error over many years of frustration…yet I continue on. So which is the master of my fate, me or my computer? Hard to say at times.
I'm with you folks, a 'spool' (downsized spa/pool combo) would be perfect for me—enough to get wet without too much time-consuming upkeep, energy and water usage.
I would really like to have a downsized pool in my yard for the grandkids to enjoy. The reader before me had a very good idea for people who have a small space and not alot of sun to go swimming. A scaled down house would be great too. My house is large and this is too much for me since I live alone. Ascaled down beatiful house would be such a good idea. I have seen really big homes but would love to have one in a smaller version. Thanks
A spool, I'd love that! Especially the low maintenance. Great suggestion Coop.
Mr. Coop: 'Spool' is such a great name for a downsized spa/pool combo…you should patten that idea, and with the Royalties you could build all of us a dream home!! Your Spool Speciality would be building Dream Homes for the HGTV Groupies!! Please count me in!!
Another footnote: I believe that computers are a living, breathing entity that either make our lives easier (when they work), or keep our lives in a state of frustration! I personally would like to shed the bafflement, and stay out of the black hole!
Gee Marie, it seems like your computer experience was worse than mine! Now that's bad. Hope that nightmare is behind you.
To all my special friends out there in HGTV Land: I have a simple favor to ask: My friend, Donna, just found out that she has cancer. I would appreciate it if you could put her on your prayer list! She is a wonderful, gental & all so pure lady!! Thank you in advance for your spiritual help!!
Will do.
Good morning Gail,
I'd be a fool not to ask politely how someone can get an invitation to this fabulous event. I just live up the road and it would be such an honor. Any suggestions or is it a party for the TV family only? I hope the bloggers agree that the theme should be the contemporary Santa Fe soiree! Marie, your friend Donna is in my prayers.
Carole, how far are you from the Dream Home? Have you seen it? You can contact HGTV about attending the party. If you attend, please give your fellow bloggers a detailed report of all that happens.
Lynn, thank you for the warm Welcome Back!! Yes, we are loving Florida!! And my son is thriving in his new school, soccer team and just the environment in general. I find myself with a new attitude to get more involved even after all of the "Drama" I endured in Phoenix. Today, my motivation pushes me to start my business over again. It is so important to get all natural and organic foods into our children. And, with everyone's busy schedule, there is nothing better than having someone else prepare a tasty, healthy and delicious meal for your child, to build stronger minds and healthier bodies for a better future. It will take a lot of courage but, I am ready!! My passion does not die, though my spirit did for a short while! I am coming back! Coop, thanks for all of your info on the blogging blunders…. because, I was going crazy trying to figure out why my password wasn't working…I didn't "fathom" that the error could be on the other side, though, rest of what you wrote in "beyond my comprehension" .( I guess my son could explain it to me!! ) I am more of a computer amateur. So, I will go into IntenseDebate and reset my password or get technical help. Marie, I will put Donna in my prayers and send her only positive thoughts and energy. She is pretty lucky to have a friend like you!!! Love life by living green!!
Glad all is going well for you in Florida Renee loves and lives green. I can't imagine your spirit dying, not even for a second. But I can imagine you in a weakened state from all you endured in such a short time.
Isn't rejuvenation a great thing?!!
reneelovesgreen: THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for your prayers and positive thoughts for Donna!!!
The party will be a giant soiree but my vote (many times) is for "On the Rocks" as the theme for that beautiful home.
No problem Carole. Any theme is a winner for this great home!
I am not very good on the computer and I never know when my entry has been received. There should be something that tells you if the entry went through. That would help me out alot.
Joann, when my post is accepted, it turns a different color and posts immediately. Does that happen when you click the submit comment button?
