  2. I'm sorry, but I think the videos of the dream home would've been better without the exaggerated gushing of the super fan. Just say it like it is.

  3. Amazing, it is the perfect house! I am an artist and a writer looking for a new start for my kiddos and I, Not only would the home be perfect, but NM is the perfect setting for a family of three who is creative and needs a new vision. Plus the perfect canvas to dream over and over again! If it weren't for the desperate need for a home and a fresh start, I would honestly wish it to someone else! A girl can dream right!:)

    • i totally agree – I lived in SF for 3 years and out west for 9 years back 35 years ago – where's R.C. Gorman art in that house? Hmmmmmmmmmm? I love the location and even the outside of the house – but the contemporary furniture is sooooo not the SW motif….but they did a great job putting this house together and I respect that and the windows/views/vistas are to die for!

  6. I question abstract art in this location. It's not New York or similar. Ansel Adams pictures at mural sizes would be nice, or similar wild scenes in large high quality color photos. Some pictures of disappearing native culture might also be more appropriate.

I also have some discomfort with the starkly unnatural angles of the architecture – a more rounded adobe look would fit the site better, wouldn't it?

  7. Hi, Laura Barbosa from NJ. I am a full time Artist and I mainly sell to clients of Home Decor and Home Staging. I love your choice of artwork for this home! It is very complimentary and wonderful. I am entering to win the dream home and hope I become lucky this year! I am a single woman living off my art and wish everyone the best of luck!

    Thanks again and HAPPY HOLIDAYS

  9. Hi all,
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this year's HGTV Dreanhome! I have suggested (when they asked all of us) in the past to build a stucco/adobe home in New Mexico, so of course I was thrilled to see that they did this year! It is just amazing! I'm crazy abour the artwork throughout the house. How special to use local artist! I have always loved New Mexico and the beautiful people there. My husband and I travel from our home in Colorado to the Santa Fe area at least twice a year. It would be wonderful to retire early and actually move to this Dream Home! ~Teresa~

  10. Hey everyone, this is Isaac I am a lucky artists/stay-at-home dad who's "pull toys" were used to decorate the kids room! It was a total surprise and I feel touched and blessed to have so many people see my work in such a beautiful home showcasing my home state! If anyone wants to find out more about my work or is interested in the pull toys (I call them fish cars) I would love to hear from you. My website is http://www.isaacalaridpease.com or just google my name to find me. Thanks and I look forward to hearing from everyone interested! Much love.

    • Isaac, your "fish cars" are awesome…very unique. They are a wonderful part of the dream home!

      • Thanks so much jillybean! One of my favorite things about them is how each one has its own personality. I use recycled/reclaimed wood so each piece of wood is unique no two fish cars are ever the same. I have a ton of fun making them!

  11. Hey everyone, happy New Year! Does anyone know the artist's name and the name of the large painting of the Native American's face with the red and white striping that is featured at the end of the hallway? Thanks, Katenbuster

Katenbuster on January 4, 2010 at 5:50 pm
    • Hi Katenbuster. He is New Mexican artist Farrell Cockrum. Hope you are able to find him. The gallery is the Blackbird gallery in Albuquerque.

  12. Love the new Dream Home!!! A thought came to mind when the canvases in the dining room were placed—-how about asking David Bromstad to paint one for the Dream Home?

  13. Oh my goodness, this home is the best yet!! I was very inspired by New Mexico's natural beauty as a young adult, it would be an absolute dream to find this house to be a home. I really enjoy the the styling of the home and it's furnishings. And my mother would have a place to have privacy and still be close to the family (if the big kids don't get to it first) Absolutely Amazing!

  14. You said a lot about the soul of New Mexico and using local artists – but you never showed any art or mentioned the names of any artists. Can you show the art and tell us who created it ?

  15. Hello,

Could you please tell me who the watercolor artist is whose work hangs in the dining room???

  16. Linda and Jack have done an outstanding job of creating a Dream Home that incorporates so many details that appeals to active seniors (like my husband & I), such as: 'one-floor living', hardwood floors (versus tile), open floor plan, private master suite, great office, separate casita, very large garage and provision for a fantastic view of the mountains!! My own background of 10 years as a professional artist and 25+ years as an interior designer (residential & commercial) has given me the appreciation of the arts, architecture and interior design. We are extremely interested in locating to a warmer climate from our Lake Michigan shoreline home. As we get older, we desire the warmer temps for the arthritis issues we are experiencing. That casita would be ideal for an art studio. I would be in seventh heaven!!

  17. How great for our daughters to grow up surrounded by such beauty. Artistic beauty as well as natural beauty. The yard outside will be there fairytale land of dreams. I cannot wait to see them in the Wonderland playhouse. We can't wait to move in!
