How Many Windows?
Likin’ the online tour? I knew you would! Check out our Super Fan’s adorable poem and see if you can guesstimate how many windows our spectacular Contemporary Southwest-style home boasts.
Likin’ the online tour? I knew you would! Check out our Super Fan’s adorable poem and see if you can guesstimate how many windows our spectacular Contemporary Southwest-style home boasts.
How many windows? Lots and lots of them!!! Haven't counted yet but 50 is always a good number–add or subtract a few!
No hurry counting the windows—take all the time you need, Lessie.
Not sure how many windows but would be happy with only one just for the chance to live close to my sister! I love you Bev & miss you!
Anne
Forget the melancholy, 'tis the season to be Jolly!
And remember, the only detail that really counts is getting your entry in each and every day. As the Dream Home winner, you can then spend all the time you want counting windows, or not!
However, with all those windows, I can't help being reminded of the cost of keeping them sparkling clean. It makes me think of the cable TV phrase "pay per view".
If theres lots of windows how many sqft is the house and how big is the lot? mike
Mike Fitzgibbons, the house is 3,900 sq ft and it's on a 3 acre lot. Is that big enough for you?
Enjoy the holidays!
GAIL – Without peeking at the floor plan, I'll "guesstimate" 10 windows.
Hi bloggers , Danny here , The home is beautiful ! But no water ! I guess if you want a pool , spa , or spool there will be monies left over from taxes to put one in if the H.O.A. allows it . With the home in high desert backed up to wilderness, water would attract no telling what. ( Have you seen the video of the bear in the pool ? )…………GOOD LUCK EVERYBODY! ……………Danny
Maybe they need to conserve water in the desert. But since this is the dream home and it is fun to dream, I think the pool should be where they put the motor court. I don't know if that would work out with the garage unless you entered from behind somehow. It would leave room for an outdoor dining set between the pool and the dining room. If I were to put in a spa or hot tub, I would probably like it outside by the master bedroom and sun room. If they put in a fountain, I guess that could go by the patio in the back, but maybe this kind of thing is better left to the professionals.
How many windows? Too Many!! Most of the windows I LOVE with the outdoor views but when it comes to bathrooms give me small high windows as I love my privacy. There is alot about this house that I love and some things that I don't . Most of the things that I don't like can be changed. The one thing that can not be changed is the location (too close to my ex) but that is not going to stop me from entering this sweepstakes. After a shitty week-end HGTV you have made my day and made me want to dream again
Funny!!! Maybe if you win and move in, he will be rot with jealousy and move else where. Good luck!!
Reneelovesgreen, You comment about my ex made me laugh, thanks for brightening my day

I've been looking at the virtual tour videos and photo's but not sure, "I can just see there's a lot which would be an injustice if not with those views. Love that sunrise room off the master and those castle like chandeliers in there, oh!!!! Last year and all the other Dream Homes were dreamy but this year's is just grander. The thearter room doesn't have any, I'm guesstimating, and "don't laugh if I'm way off," 81. I know that is a large number but that may count any interior as well. I seem to be doing ok at this guessing blogs because I see I was right about the trim and the photo of the guest bedroom.
Terri1, your guestimate is as good as anyone else's. Sounds like a good number to me.
Does this mean each PANEL of glass? Now that could change things in the whole numbers equation.
Too many for mere mortals to keep clean!
Ed, you're funny, but I sure agree with you! Any possibility that they're self-cleaning windows?!
Self-cleaning windows? Now there's a money-making idea you can work on for us, Lessie.
Never can tell Coop. The manifestation of the idea may be just around the corner. Only one problem…whose going to change all the windows? Not me!
Well, maybe no need to change out the windows. Perhaps something more like a slick, spray-on surface to which nothing, not even wind blown sand or bird bearing gifts, can cling to….
No spray-on for me. I'm looking for something permanent!
Ed, I must agree with you!! You would definitely need an extension pole for many of them, especially in the Garage!! Glad to hear that your Wife likes the artwork and that she gets the Office… That's a great way to negotiate.
Regarding Ed's office decisions, it seems to be a statement of fact, rather than a point of negotiation, reneelovesgreen… You just have to do whatever it takes to make a relationship work, and winning the Dream Home couldn't hurt, whoever gets the office!
Your right Coop! When Mama's happy in our home everyone is happy! And the inverse applies as well!
It's not whatever it takes, because I can be selfish too!! But, when you have a little one… it just means so much more… So, I can give more… and it doesn't even bother me…!! Sometimes taking care of the family is better than what I may receive or benefit from! It is great to be around people like you, to understand!! I am sure that makes your life pleasant, as well! You seem to have one of those few "wonderful" souls!! Winning any Dream Home couldn't hurt…with the right insight and forecast!
Yeah, kind of like painting the Golden Gate bridge, Ed—once you finish at one end, you just start over again at the other!
That's true Coop. I have watched those Golden Gate Bridge Painters in action. Those altitudes aren't for me. I prefer my feet on Terra Firma. I had a friend in high school who wanted to get a job painting the bridge. He thought it would be a lifetime career. Too bad he had to go to Nam & never got to experience that job.
I have a guy who charges $6.00 per window inside and out and does a great job….hmmm….now, how much would that cost? Oh, yea, I probably would have to fly him in from Philadelphia and let him stay in the casita.
Living the Dream!
I love the floor plan for this house. I always get so excited to see the floor plan and the online tour. This home was a lot of fun to look at. The only question I have is what about privacy in the casita bathroom? An open shower can be sexy, but the open toilet idea, not so sexy.
Dawn, it just depends on your perspective. If you're alone, no problem! If you're with your significant other, who cares?! Once you've resolved the issue of gas leaks, you can handle the rest. If you're with close friends, no problem. They already know the intimate details of your life anyway.
BUT if you're with someone you're trying to impress, that's on you. Have separate rooms and it won't be an issue.
The open toliet, not sexy.. I agree..
I'm with you, Dawn. Yes to open shower, no to glass window onto the toilet. At least a 5 foot high wall with windows above would be greatly appreciated.
Too many to count. Just finished viewing the pictures. I previously posted that I liked the house. I would now like to say I love this house! It is so beautiful inside and out. Way to go Linda and Jack! I will be definitely entering every day. I like the car too. It has everything a mom could want.
Question: I know this blog is about the windows, but has anyone figured out what the shadow represents in Farrell Cockrum's painting? Can't quite make it.
Luba, would you happen to know since you're an artist?
Lessie – Maybe it is a shadow of the large rock outside the Dream Home?!?!?!?! LOL!
Living the Dream!
Is the shadow a tomahawk held in a upraised hand, ready to scalp the first non-native to pass within arms reach?
You're bad Coop. Make sure you're not the first non-native to pass within arm's reach. Does that mean Jack, Linda and other HGTV staff have an ounce of native American blood? Just thinking…..
It seems Marie Miller does. She said her Great G.G. ?. father was Sitting Bull. Now that's a connection to be proud of. She's such a Southern Belle. Where is she?
You're right Katydid! Marie must not be feeling well or she's socializing again. I can't imagine her staying away for so long. She was as excited as the rest of us.
Marie Miller, where are you?
Maybe our chieftess Sitting Bull is on her way to Sandia Park as we speak, in an attempt to talk her way into a few nights stay at this luxurious Dream Home. Keep us posted, Marie.
Maybe Marie did get her Commercial license and is headed to pick you up Coop.. Get ready to hide in a large boulder on your way through Sandia Park down the Turquoise Trail! Also, my Grandmother was a Chickasaw Indian from Oklahoma who married my Irish Grandfather in Texas.. Cool.. right! Just thought it would be fun to share.
I want to know, let me go look at it again (painting). Yeah that number of windows was reaching, I think that your number of 50 was a good practicle number start.
i am guessing 36.
have 66 windows …. but, I have a feeling there are a few spaces that aren't included in the virtual tour… And, I counted each window separate if they were divided, including the Casita. I love the tiled wall in the Pantry…. and the rain-shower head, with body spray valves in the Casita. I also love the idea that the coffee table in the Theater Room is actually 4 tables placed together. You can separate them for your use. My Son said that the Kid's Room is cool! He loves the Bow, Books and Cowboy hat with chaps. He also loves the large cork board because he loves taking pictures and enjoys hanging them. He laughed at the rubber duckie in the Jack and Jill bath. Dawn, if you won the Dream Home and didn't feel too comfortable with the glass shower …. and being able to see the toilet from the bedroom… you could install a beautiful drapery and then allow your guests to move them. Oh, one of my favorite things, is the low to floor lighting (similar to Movie Theaters) in the Theater Room! What a great concept … you don't have to disturb others during a movie when heading to the restroom or to grab a bite!! COOL! Can't wait to discover more! Love life by living green and having a dream!
I just watched all of the videos and I am speechless! I have to absorb all of this after I get back from my son's basketball game.
I'm loving all of your comments…I just don't even know where to begin!
Let's just say I am smiling from ear to ear!
Living the Dream!
Lynn, I love your response to my question. Maybe I've looked at one too many Highlights Magazines.
That's the only thing I like about going to the dentist!
Living the Dream!
I loved this house especially how spacious it is. I was wondering how wide are the doors in the house. Its hard to tell. About the windows there are too many windows to count.
Talk about not being able to get a word in edgewise…let's see if I can sneak a comment in here. Seems like an appointment is almost necessary with so much excitement clogging the Dream Home blog site.
As to the number of windows, GAIL, all I can say is that the views are clearly numero uno at this dream pad. It's a window wonderland!
PS: thanks for the nifty poetry in your vlog, GAIL. As you know, we love our poems here in blogland.
Just jump in Coop! You know everyone is waiting to read your comments.
Just waiting until the anticipation reaches a fever pitch!
Ah, before I forget to comment on the painting in the office—the location makes perfect sense. After all, it's where the "chief" decision maker holds court, and/or conducts business…
Of course, that thought is certainly open to question, I'm sure!
Precisely, that's where us wives write out our grocery lists, do our on-line shopping, and conduct all of our houshold ciphering and what not while our husbands are busy in the next room playing with that infernal remote control. LOL
Of course, that is open to question.. But, for me, I could give up the "chief" decision maker to my Husband, as long as his answers and decisions are all correct… otherwise, I may have to hold counsel to negotiate the terms and conditions!!! I believe that my Grandmother who was an American Indian has instilled me with much defiance but, more understanding, compassion and love.
I just finished the on line tour of the 2010 Dream Home and my heart had me in tears. This home is 100% PERFECT inside and outside. If I win this home I would not change anything, just move in and enjoy. Best of luck to all.
Ladyleo, you're right. This is one spectacular home! The winner will indeed be blessed.
To me, this home touches a person on many levels, not just superficially. Don't know why but this house is different.
Your lucky then…you have extra ump probably 4 winning!
But, then when u flip it, extra ump to be crushed when & if you're name is not the one called!
Happy Entry With Your Sweepstakes, it's all good!
Sounds like "How many petals around the rose". Counting windows is not my cup of tea, but I loved your poem, Gail.
Coop: Glad to see you have recovered from your hosting and blogging again. Marie might take a little longer, but I'm sure she'll be back soon.
Posted a few positives on the last thread, but here is one that just came to mind. Although there is no fire place in the great room, a beautiful one can be seen through the windows to the back patio. Seems to have a concrete ledge around it where a person could set down a drink. Now if the fire would ignite the alcohol in the Bahama Mamas…… our own fire works display. But nothing could compete with the stars in the sky, the sunsets, the changing colors of the desert. Oh, I love this Dream Home!
As you mention, Katydid, talk about fireworks—from some of the Dream Cam photos, I'd say that nature puts on some pretty spectacular displays for free. Nor would I want to see my Bahama Mama, or any other libation, ignited by flames. It takes too much work to mix them for that, and if the alcohol is going to ignite anything, well, I'll just have to volunteer for another Bahama Mama or its counterpart!
Well, if that's all it takes to ignite you, I'm sending you a case. If I knew where to send it
Hi Katydid! Regarding your comment, "nothing could compete with the stars in the sky, the sunsets, the changing colors of the desert."…True that my friend!!!!!!

Living the Dream!
Although I've never understood the logic behind the comment "views to die for", I'd say that this Dream Home has the views to vie for, as in enter daily and WIN!
The exterior views need no comment; they're stunning. One interior view that certainly moves me is the one from the Dining Room, looking to the Entry Foyer Sitting Area. With its soft aqua/turquoise tiled fireplace, and comfy armchairs to match, I'd be sure to place myself at the head of the table in order to catch that delicious image throughout any dining experience. After an evening of spirited and friendly conversation, nothing would be more inviting than a quiet repose in front of the fire to end a perfect day. Then again, there's that magnificent Master Bedroom Suite beckoning as well….
I'm envisioning sitting in the other comfy armchair, relishing our spirited conversation and realizing we may be soul mates after all, and our hands drift together and suddenly we are holding hands and the electricity sparks and then you mention the magnificent master bed, and I say but we haven't even danced yet. Ooooh, you're a fast worker! I am so dazed I don't even remember what music was playing.
where is the virtual tour? When I click on it to the left, it takes me to the 2009 tour.
Shoejunkie62, go to the Dream Home web page. Under the heading Step Inside is a picture of the fireplace and two chairs. You should see:
Take a virtual tour of each dream space and view gorgeous slideshows.
Tour HGTV Dream Home 2010 (Click on this link and it will take you to the tour.)
Now, one small request, HGTV—could I have a low privacy wall built around the Casita patio, just to give it more of a sense of "belonging" to the home (in keeping with the main house patio walls), and help to keep out unwelcome evening visitors as well. (Of the desert creature kind.)
Nice touch Coop, A low privacy wall around the Casita patio would be nice.
Yeah DB it is kind of open, now that you mention it. I thought they meant each panel of glass for the windows but I'm really not sure either but that defiantly does change the number in the equation. I seen where someone said 10 and I thought even a small ranch or bungalow has that many, they're not an architecture.
Gail,
Wow! This HGTV Dream Home 2010 takes your breath away. Linda and the team did an exellent job with decorating the home. We so enjoyed the on line tour. How very exciting to be able to visualize all of the hard work and dedication that went into creating this oasis-piece of paradise.
Just a speculation-but we would have to guess 72 windows are in the home including the Casita.
Okay, our favorite part of the home is every single room including the Casita. Wow! The contemporary design enhances the relaxed feeling of the home. This home is absolutely breath taking.
Wow!!!!!!!!
Dream Big!
I know I mentioned Winter Park was closest to my dream home but this just may top it. I love the wood ceilings and beautiful floors, simple wall treatments – impecable design design team! I'm going to guess 90 windows (including the garage and casita).
Question: the master bath. I can't tell if you can enter the master bathroom through the beautiful sliding doors or if it's setup so that you enter through the hall?
That baffled me too for a while. You enter from the hall, but it's a very short trip if you are seeking the toilet. The row of candles and sliding doors are just to allow a view.
I had to look around a bit, but I found the virtual tour and just finished. It took over an hour. As for the windows, at least 40. It depends on whether you count the banks of windows as one or individually, I guess. If the latter, I would say, closer to 70. I have one question, has the doggy dream home been replaced by a Kid's dream home? I just started blogging a few weeks ago, so, if you guys already discussed this, please excuse my untimeliness.
shoejunkie, your comment is timely. It appears to me that the kid's dream home has replaced the doggy dream home. Not a bad trade.
With the clean garage, I would think this little playhouse could be one. Maybe, a yard tool garage or a great potting shed? Is it left unfinished inside or not? Definitely, where the water element should be, guess a charge of heart with that.
That's ok, I'd definitely want to put spa/spool by morning room door area somewhere. Maybe build a great screened in area just for that and has glass ceiling.
Do you or anyone else have any idea why they might have done this? I'm just wondering if perhaps the gated community is not dog friendly. That is the one thing I would have done differently regarding the dream homes. I would not under any circumstances put any of the homes in restricted communities. First of all, they charge HOA fees that many people can't afford. And, secondly, they have rules and restrictions that some people just can't live with comfortably, especially regarding pets.
Good evening my blogging buddies! I will concede and give the winning number to reneelovesgreen…afterall, I think HGTV would be clever enough to make it '66' in honor of 'Route 66'!
Go Renee, Go Renne, Go Renne!
Living the Dream!
Lynn, did you count the windows?! You're incredible. I thought Renee guessed, but now that you've confirmed the number…kudos to both of you!
Whoever planned that is really good.
Lynn, you are too sweet!! I really tried… but, don't bet on me.. I had to count, then pick up my Son from school. How ingenious you are to think of Route 66!! Which I loved traveling..You know HGTV can surprise us all!! But thank you for living the dream with me and way beyond me!!!
shoejunkie62, your comment about the office is on target, and funny!
However, bear in mind that flipping through the channels on the TV remote is more than just a superficial pastime, it's a true-grit sport, roughly equivalent to the ancient Roman spectacle of gladiatorial combat before a raucaus crowd, thirsty for action. You know, the frequent curses of disapproval, the sudden roar of ear-splitting satisfaction, followed by a thumbs up here, a thumbs down there. Like a trained fighter, it takes years of intensive practice to reach professional status. Hence the hours of seemingly mindless channel surfing, all while in a state which resembles that of a semi-comatose three-toed Amazonian Tree Sloth. However, do not be deceived—this is serious stuff, requiring intense concentration. Even the slightest movement is vital to the continued well-being and mental agility required of the modern day husband. So carry on, ladies; put the office to its best use, and leave us men to our exhausting nightly battles with the demons of TV. Remember, to the winner goes the hard-fought spoils of technological wizardry. We aren't sure what those spoils are, though increased girth seems to be one them.
Well put Coop!!! Trust me… I will fight for that remote if it is another movie on the Sci-Fi channel and my thumbs would be in the down position!!! I love great Drama, Mystery or light Horror!! Though, I will be taking my Son to see Avatar … Have you ever written a book? Or do you keep a journal? How interesting you are.
Thank you for your generous compliment. Alas, I do not keep a journal. As for writing a book, I've done so once (unpublished) to keep a promise I'd made to my mother. I decided to write a "biography" (in novel form) of her life story, which was an extraordinary one. It will keep her memory alive as it is passed down to succeeding generations of my family.
Here's to keeping dreams alive, as HGTV does so well each year with its unique and spectacular Dream Homes!
Happy Turquoise Trails to you, reneelovesgreen!
How many windows? Just glad it's not of my concern to do so
Lots & lots of windows, not even tempting to count. I'm glad I don't have to replace or identify any one of them! With windows though, it's a real truth, crap occurs, a leak or two are increased with this odds of having so ___ many.
It's not of my concern how many… I like all the light it brings on any given day & the outside brought inside.
Now, at night, can you imagine the new look of this place from a far with all the lights on in the house?
Can you imagine the Christmas lights? The lights all around the edges and where ever you want. You get to know where you live in the dark quicker.
Try finding this place at night with no lights on now there's a trick!
From the nearest town, it's which direction?
There's hope to your car never dies
"Like a good neighbor"
Oh, there not home, great, hope my phone, cell phone works.
Guess, I'll just have to take a day off and enjoy the views
Which one do you choose?
Please don't ask how many lights? Lots and lots, 16 foot ceiling imagine changing that one!
Love, love, love, love the home!!!! I can't stand how much I love it and want it!!!!! So good!
I love how Jack and Linda can design a Dream Home to fit perfectly in with it's location.
This home is just beautiful and would only work in the dessert. I love everything about it, even that piece of art that I didn't like before. It fits in very well in the office. Beautiful Home!!!!
OH!!!! I forgot to guess how many windows…..I'll say 40
What dessert would you work in?
Strawberry shortcake, blueberry pie etc?
Just a little humor for you, I do know what you meant
Not that I'm counting either, lovelykitty, but it would seem from the photos that there might be 40 windows in the Great Room alone, with all those incredible views!
Gail,
You didn't tell us that you were being the room tour guide! I loved hearing your take on each room. Did anyone know?? The house
is great, you look beautiful (nice picture too). Now that I have buttered you up, sincerely, where is the water feature? Back to the tours I go.
forgot to guess on the windows. One million or so it seems.
I was wondering on the tour why the whole house is not disclosed?
Good morning my blogging buddies! How did I forget to mention one of my many favorite things at the HGTV Dream Home 2010? I LOVE the dramatic outdoor sculpture by Southwest petroglyph expert Ley Powell which is crafted in steel and comes from the artist's Shaman Series!!!!!!!!! It is perfect! I love this sculpture and totally adore where it is precisely placed on the property! I am pretty sure he is saying to everyone dining outdoors…"Stay, don't leave…come dance with me!"
Ahhhh……HGTV perfection at its best!
Once again…thank you HGTV!
Living the Dream!
Good work uncovering the info regarding the Shaman sculpture.
That reminds me of my favorite restaurant on visits to Rancho Mirage, Shame On the Moon. (Okay, close, but not at all relative to Ley Powell's dramatic sculpture.)
And, in yet another bit of irrelevant trivia, I believe the restaurant (Shame On the Moon) may have been named with the 1982 Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band song in mind. The lyrics include the phrase "Blame It On Midnight", which is another restaurant in nearby Palm Springs.
Getting back to the Dream Home—I agree, Lynn, Powell's sculpture fits the landscape perfectly, and serves as an evocative reminder of the Native Americans, their traditions and their culture, who have inhabited the area for thousands of years.
Okay, so now I can't take my eyes off of him….I think he placed a spell on me!
He is so prominant outside of the bedroom window as well! I am pretty sure he would say to me each and every morning what I say to my kids each morning when I drop them off to school….."Remember, only YOU can make it a great day!"
Living the Dream!
P.S. And, oh yes, my kids roll their eyes at me every time I say that to them!
I continue to pace myself as I view the Dream Home. Today, I took the mini tours and discovered the Dream Playhome (guess no doghouse this year). Do we count those windows, too? There's more than 21 windows and less than a million.
Oh boy, so much to take in, especially with Jamie Durie & Linda W. with their 60 second tours!! All I can say is WOW!!! From outside with the natural boulders, crab apples, paved entry, three car garage, banquet setting patio, pillars of rocks, outside fireplace, the fantastic playroom, low profile furniture, and lastly the sculpture….WOW! WOW!!!
The inside is more than I ever expected starting with the great room to the Casita it is fabulous beyond words!! The 16 foot ceilings add space upon space! The modern kitchen, the butler's pantry, the indoor/outdoor dining & the working space is fabulous (and, there is 'the' painting…who would have guessed it would be hanging there?)!!! I love the Jack & Jill bathrooms with the beautiful bedrooms, especially the lavender walls, but the Master Bedroom takes the prize with its open concept bathroom!! WOW!! WOW!!!! But, I have to tell you, my most favorite of favorites has to be the Sunrise Room….I LOVE IT!! Oops, I forgot to say the Media Room is divine!! And, oh my, the Casita is unbelievable…I could live just there!! I am loving the hardwood floors, I am loving every inch of the extreme Sandia Park Turquoise Paradise!! Oh yeah, Lindor Truffles are my favorites!! HGTV, you have out-done yourself this time!! Thank you for the DREAMS!!!!
How many windows….lots & lots & lots & lots….showing off the most terrific views….I LOVE THIS HOME!!!
Yes, Marie, did you find your shoe, and did the glass slipper fit?
Hi Marie! Did you find your shoes?
Living the Dream!
I thought the answer was forty two. Oops, wrong question…
The house is perfect! I love it all. Any the many windows is the best part!
I am not sure what the shadow in the painting is. I have noticed it too, but can't make it out. I guess when I win the home I can stare at it in person and see what it is, right? Oh happy day.
So many views and great details to absorb. It will take days, perhaps weeks, to take in all of individual pieces that came together to make this Dream Home so extraordinary. Every room is an open invitation to enter, relax, and enjoy to the fullest. (Okay, so I'll put any hyperactive guests in the Casita, at least until I can tone down that spicy interior.)
In the Meantime, Happy Turquoise Trails to You!
By the way, with all of those magnificent vistas from floor to ceiling windows, and light and bright rooms in virtually every part of the home (with the exception of the Home Theatre, naturally), I'll have to take a stab in the dark of at least 80 plus windows (including glass doors to the exterior, but not interior sliding glass panels)—okay, pick a number—83 will do as well as any. Then there's those remarkable glass garage doors to add in the final tally! Do you have your window/glass door chart handy, GAIL, to give us the official window count therein? Now that IS a lot of window to keep sparkling clean, but it's the kind of satisfying work (yeah, right!) that would keep me out of the casinos!
Aha!—At long last, my comment has arisen from the very depths of the moderation dungeon. Thank you, Admin, for making such a prompt and sensible decision (in my opinion, of course!)
You know in cleaning them, it probably would be an all day task
If animals or kids are abound, nose prints, kids hands, and can you imagine how many certain windows would have to be cleaned. That's a big number to undertake. Good task for
Due to circumstances beyond my control, my previous comment, with a stab in the dark estimate of 80 plus windows/glass doors (less the garage doors) has been inexplicably sent to moderation oblivion.
Will GAIL be providing us with the actual count, perhaps 87, to match the address number on Turquoise Drive?
The most fabulous features I think this home brings in for me is:
- Looking out and seeing the natural environment all around & out every
window
- One level, spacious & comforts as I have 3 stories now & so ready for
only have one story soon, but still have to wait a little while longer & real
estate market to bounce back further yet
- Lot size has room
- Close to cities, but not in any city and would prefer no HOA's too
Guess I'm trying to say, glad I found this site to how we want our next place as it's helped us decide.
Just spent an hour and a half viewing the the most beautiful home I've ever seen — and I didn't get done! Had to check out every inch of every room and insert certain oooohs and ahhhhhs at just the right moment. Way to go HGTV, from builders, architects and construction crews to designers, decorators and photographers. You have outdone yourselves with this one. Please pat yourselves on the back for me!! It will take me several more hours to see absolutely everything this home has to offer.
Will Monica be the one showing the home on January 1st? She is simply adorable. Her enthusiasm is so contagious.
I love, love, love the butler's pantry. What a great idea to keep the prep work mess out of the public eye. Makes for some wonderful entertaining. Then, with a dishwasher and refrigerators and wine coolers it's another great multi-purpose room.
I'm also in love with the enormity of the great room. What a place to entertain and share with friends. Once I've seen more of the home, I'll be back. Oh, and about those windows – don't care how many there are because I won't have to ever wash them. I'll have a check for enough money to pay to have them done for my lifetime!! See ya real soon…..
sorry – I said too much for just one little blog!!
Irish: I also adore the kitchen with its stools and the pantry connecting it to the dining room. It must be a caterer's dream. I would invite the whole Dream Team to a feast and all my fellow bloggers too. Just so Coop and I don't have to cook. Marie could take charge, thank you, darling. So glad you're back on the blog. It takes a long time to see everything.
The home is absolutely beautiful! It only misses big relaxing pool and waterfall.
The home is beautiful! It only misses big relaxing pool and waterfall.
And the next mystery question is: how many windows in the child's play house? Any guesses?
With it's endless reasons to ooh and ahh, this Dream Home deserves plenty of accolades. One of the more modest, yet ever so intriguing features, is the towel warming drawer hidden in the Master Bath vanity. How smart is that!
Inevitably, a couple of points popped up that I'd change out if I were to win the home: the Casita would need some cooling down with softer shades, and the glass wall into the Casita Bath would receive a "privacy" revision. In the main house, the "pencil post frames" in the Guest Bedroom, even sans canopy, seems to 'busy-up' the room, and make it appear smaller—on top of which, the bed posts (left side in photo) actually appear to interfere with the clean lines of the window frames.
Well, with 3,900 square feet of gorgeous living space, how minor are my differences of opinion about the charm and sophistication so evident in this contemporary Southwest beauty!
I've practically forgotten them already, and henceforth, my mind's eye will focus only on the abundance of glowing positives and visually pleasing vistas in and from every room. Bravo to Linda W, and Jack T.
How did you find out about the square footage? Would that include the casita? I agree about the privacy issue in the casita but there's an easy fix with a drapery installed. I'm wondering if the casita has a space for a coffee maker, mini frig as a mini-kitchen set-up.
Also, were you a little surprised that there isn't a powder room in the main house? Visitors would have to use the Jack and Jill bathroom which might be used by guests. Minor point though.
I love the walk-through pantry. Cooks appreciate that it can be used as a prep kitchen, thus hiding messy things like turkey carcass after carving.
