  1. I was expecting a swimming pool. I have one in my WI
home and should have one in this home

Cheryl Meyer on December 29, 2009 at 8:26 pm
    • There is a community swimming pool in the neighborhood.

lisa on January 1, 2010 at 3:43 pm
  2. there should be a room with a panoramic veiw of the best veiw with large safety glass sliding doors walking owt onto a large deck with hot tub and shower and maybe even a swimming pool and auto matic blinds that you could open and close at any time.

  3. I love everything about this home. I love NM and have been wanting to move there for a few years now. I think the only thing I would change is the black and metal chair in the great room. It looks like a doctors office waiting room chair. I don't know, I just dont like the vibe of it. Instead I would put a black leather massaging recliner there. Everything else is perfect! I thought I saw the hinges to doors on the edges of the pictures for the bedrooms. Who knows, they might have pocket doors, to match the rest of the sliding doors. Great Job!

  4. I really don't care for this home. It feels too commercial to me and not at all homey. All the doors look like doors in an office building. No doors to the master and just having curtains is just crazy talk!

I do like a lot of the decor, but some of it is just too weird together..ie the Buzz Lightyear and Woody decor in the kids rooms mixed with Native American weapons??

I will enter to win, but I will sell it as soon as I win. LOL I thought it was ridiculous to have a home of this size and expect the guests to share a bathroom with the kids room. Also, the guestroom is painted that hideous gray. Blech. It's a good thing they have a nice view out their window! It also seems crazy to just have 3 bedrooms in the whole place. The dream homes from the two previous years were awesome!

  5. I'd like to comment about a Vote Change I made today. If it weren't for my hub's cooking ability and "awareness" to great recipes, I would not have known to make this change. His mother asked him about a recipe he prepared for them in Florida years ago. Coconut Shrimp. He said the shrimp was large enough that when filleted, it could be the size of your hand. I thought he was joshing about shrimp that size. Then, after shopping for our New Year's crab boil meal…..I discovered they DO exist. LOL

He said the recipe came from the Neely's recipe site. So, I voted for the Neely's……If my mother-in-law, a wonderful cook, AND my husband say it's awesome….Guess I better give them my vote! There are so many fine chefs, G o d did bless people with that gift.

  7. You ruined this 2010 Dream Home! You turned what could have been your best home design ever and turn it into a disappointment and disaster!
Fire Linda Woodrum!! She has no clue how to decorate! First you don’t go to New York City to buy your furniture for a home in New Mexico; you shop in New Mexico. The culture there is influence by American Indian culture& that is how this home should have been decorated. New Mexico homes should be adobe/stucco inside and out & KIVA Fireplace not decorated with glass, purple and turquoise walls and fire places! You should have Navajo rugs on the walls and the floors; Nambe in the kitchen; American Indian pottery, baskets, and drums from Acoma, San Elifonzo and Santa Clara.; artwork by Georgia O’Keefe, Anis Adams, Atkinson, and Balloon Fiesta Posters. One again HGTV has shown they have no clue what American viewers want in homes. Personally, I think I could have decorated it better!
The only good thing about this 2010 Dream home is the view of the New Mexico Mountains!

  8. Your house is just perfect for the area. The Ethan Allen furniture could not fit better. Each room has it’s own personality. Nothing is overdone and is very tastefully done. We were at the Balloon Festival and were very impressed with the area. Coming from Maine and discovered the south west for the first time we found the different in the landscape just wonderful.

  9. I am a little confused about the design..It doesn't look like there is a master bedroom door…just curtains from the main living area off the sitting room…also, it looks like there is only a queen bed in the master bedroom…Not Good!! Always need a King bed for the master.

  10. Hi all! This house lives up to the title Dream Home! Love it! I was wondering how the voting will go for the cookware sets because I believe the Emerilware 15pc and the Cuisinart 17pc sets have eachothers photos for view. I personally am voting for the Emeril set by name but many may be choosing by photo so can that be fixed? Or maybe if one of the two sets win you'll allow the winner to choose.. just a thought. = )

  11. I didn't care for the house much at all. The ugliness of the decor was surpassed only by the nauseating, childish, continuously zooming and panning video editing and fake acting by the lady host. Maybe next year….

  12. hi everybody .i love the home and yes i voted i thught all of the gifts were fabulous .i would love to win ths beautifull home. God bless and good Luck to all.

  13. There were some of the gifts I would have like to have chosen two of!! Like the margarita maker AND the food processor!! Beautiful home. I live in the 'low' desert area near Palm Springs- the architecture is very similar to what I have seen in homes being built in our area. Love the wide open spaces and natural beauty- much of that has been gobbled up in our area recently. Wonder what the HOA fees are? Hmm, California dreamin' about New Mexico……

  14. I sure did vote! I loved the canvas with the hand prints. That would be a nice gift to let the Family be involved. It would be nice for kids to see their hands up there and how small they were at the time. The colors are a beautiful representation of the southwest! My Husband voted too. He really liked all the kitchen gift ideas. He spends a lot of time cooking and watching the food channel! We could utilize these things!!!!

    Dreamer28 on January 6, 2010 at 8:30 pm
  15. Yes, voted. And all the housewarming gifts are fabulous. I especially liked the idea of the margaritaville mixer, gorgeous set of pots & pans, and suprisingly the portobello mushroom growing kit–I want one! I actually just read about the soda maker in a southern living magazine and was astonished how many drinks it carbonates and if this is the same company as the one I saw in the mag, you can send back the empty and they will re-fill it for you. How Green! & much healthier than buying sugar loaded sodas. The winner has a LOT to look forward to.

  16. It takes me THIS long to figure out that a list of housewarming gifts is listed on the PRODUCTS portion of this site. Giada wasn't even listed as one of the votable items, yet there she is! This is a wonderful thing. Hubby introduced me to her years ago as one of his fav. programs. So….glad to see that her book is listed as one of the products. There were so many HOUSEWARMING gifts….it made my head spin! Great job! I think the votes must be neck in neck to get several of them listed. Am I close? hehehe

  18. I loven NM and this home… Best of luck to all

  19. It's pretty, but not a favorite. I loved the one in Katy, TX. There are not enough bathrooms and it's too modern. I guess that comment shows how old and spoiled I am, but it is supposed to be a DH. I assure you if I win I won't refuse to accept it. I will say this, it was unexpected. I'm sure my kids and gkids would love it. CT

  20. Ya, I voted… but what are the chances of me winning? im sry… not meaning to be a bore or a kill-joy here, im just more of a realistic being is all… I guess the closest guess to a percentage would be one in a million chance of winning..but of course.
Mostly I voted because the House is beautiful, and may be my first and only house I would ever own in my lifetime… as for the money… Im a fan, dont get me wrong, but with me being laid off from my job and unemployed I know how it is to have nothing and having to go without… and no… My family isnt like most… the day I turned 16 I had to make my own way… so im not new to the job core/grunt work bit… ive never been without a job this long… nor should I be…I have my certifications in graphic Design but no job experience holds me back from stepping forward. I did as much extra schooling as I could afford to yet its done no good .Ive noticed in a whole year of searching for "any" job that it is getting harder to just get by with the basics… right now… im sending the entries on a library's computer and sometimes a friends laptop all I can afford is my phone… but anyways Ya the house, the money the car… its nothing but a dream, if I do win it would be a dream come true but im thinking all that may be much for just me… I have an idea If I do win… but is anyone going to care? I dont know… but im going to try for this house… why not… good things emerge out of nowhere in this world sometimes… am I right? lol.

  21. the Bathroom that is next to the laundry room, only had access through the outside. Does tht mean that it is intended for, say, maybe….. a pool access?

karen on January 21, 2010 at 3:30 pm
    • There is no bathroom with only access from outside. That's a utility or mechanical room.

      dreamn_again on January 22, 2010 at 6:35 pm
  22. I voted and cannot wait to use my new Cusinart in my new home! We can't wait to move in!

bekah on February 2, 2010 at 8:00 pm
  23. As I've entered the contest of course I would love to see the theatre room with those cork walls so acoustically balanced as a place for musical instruments therefore dual purpose for music & film.
The butler pantry could have a case of Almond Champagne from Wilson Creek Winery in CA for the special notable guests that come for dinner and review the compositions of creativity that this location & home would provide anyone.
Living green to stay within your means, as shown in all the HGTV Dream Homes, would honor any homeowner throughout the world as I hope I am one this time as I daily look forward to the March drawing.
Thank you for the opportunity to comment and the awesome viewing / pre viewing.
