  1. I love the modern Southwestern style of the 2010 Dream Home! Sometimes modern design can make you feel like you're in a museum that is for "looking" not "living," but that is NOT the case here. It's drop-dead gorgeous, but also so warm and liveable! I could definitely see my family at home in an environment like this. Thanks for doing something a little different than previous, more tradtional Dream Homes! It's heaven :)

  2. Dear DB Coop:

I love the Solar panels, did not see that until I saw the aerial view. So glad. I won't pay PNM, they will pay me for the electricity I save. Also, Love the front entrance where you can have a party there also. I always wanted a wrap around patio for a rocking chair, but this is so modern and what a great idea to suggest this.

Like I said" "Mi casa es MI casa" (my house is my house)until I win then it is "Mi Casa es SU Casa" My house is your house) and then everyone can visit!

    Want to win

  3. Can anyone help me? I have tried to enter to win this very beautiful home but it won't accept my entry. It keeps telling me that I must put in a valid phone number….but I have put in a phone number. It just doesn't recognize that it is there. I don't know what to do.

LORRAINE on January 4, 2010 at 9:36 pm
    • Hi there! Just make sure you are formatting it correctly. The area code in the first box, then in the second longer box make sure you put you phone number with the hyphen in it. Example: 555-5555. If that doesn't work, maybe you could use a cell phone number? Good luck :)

  4. Is there a dishwasher in the kitchen as well?

  5. I love following the Dream Home and the Green Home. Thanks for all of your information and helping me visualize things before I could see them. There is one thing I have not heard mention about since seeing it on the special. The house obviously has some type of solar collector on the roof. Why so secret?
    Thanks

  6. One favorite room is so hard to pick, as the entire house (inside and out) is fabulous!!!! I would say the master bedroom suite/bath and sunrise room first (I have never had a bedroom or bathroom I wanted to spend time in, but these rooms are huge and look so relaxing and inviting). The kitchen and butlers pantry would be second – there has to be a place for EVERYTHING in these 2 areas – organization at last!!!

  7. Am I the only one who thinks that while the kitchen is beautiful, it's extremely impractical? You would have to store all of your food in either the pantry or the recycling room. If you're cooking in the actual kitchen, that's very inconvenient. The only other option is to prep things in the pantry, isolated from everyone else in a little room.

  8. All of the rooms in this house are fabulous, but my favorite room in any house is the kitchen. It's the gathering place for family and friends and good times. I especially love the kitchen in the dream house. The colors are spectaular, as are all the appliances and furniture.

  9. the whole house is fine but the patio area is the place to be, nice view , perfect sitting area etc.etc.. i can see my self out there grilling .

  10. I have no negatives about anything shown, I wanted to know about the water supply, and average warm temperture with the cold temperture for the area?

  11. I abosolutely love the kitchen and Great Room! We cook alot! The view is spectacular. The Toy Story Room is awesome, my 6 year old son loves Toy Story (who doesn't)! I have 6 kids and this would be a great home, one of my sons just moved to New Mexico fro college and to rodeo. Everything in the Dream Home is just thought out to perfection, the colors, especially the Art. I was in Santa Fe this past summer for the 1st time and loved all the local artists. I bought some beautiful jewelry. I love all things Western, my son had to drag me away. I live in Washington state, where as you know it rains ALOT, it would be great to have the nice dry climate with my whole family in that Great Room!!!! Kudos to all who desingned and built this awesome home!!

  12. My husband and I lived in New Mexico (Santa Fe for 18 years and Albuquerque for 3). He decided to go back to school and got a hi-tech job. His company moved us up here to Oregon, where we've been under rain clouds for the past 13 years. He is due to retire soon and we would love nothing more than to move back to New Mexico. Our oldest daughter and husband and grandson live in Santa Fe and it would be so nice to be near them once again. PLEASE allow us to win this glorious home so we can once again call New Mexico "home".

  13. My eleven year old son would love to win this beautiful and environmentally conscious home! I, of course, would be awestruck to be the random winner of this glorious space as well. I think I love the entry area the most. I am so calmed by the serene aqua tiled wall and fireplace space, not to mention the the relaxing and cozy seating area. I think it would be a Godsend to be the winner of this home, and the $500,000.00 would go to help pay the taxes and …. The car is also a perfect fit for the landscape. I have a Prius now, which I love, but may not be as suitable for this terrain. The home and property is really magnificent.

Susan on January 6, 2010 at 3:08 am
  14. The tiles are actually turquoise (not aqua), sorry, but I love them anyway and the way they made me feel watching the special. I also love all the WOOD in the house – lovely.

  15. Question –
It talked about a kids play room, but on the floor plan it doesn't show it at all. Is there one? What does it look like?

  16. Is there a play room? Why isn't it on the floor plan?

  19. Yes, this house is beautiful and every room is great. Hgtv you have out done yourself this time. And New Mexico is a beautiful place, blue clean skies and open spaces that's why they call it the land of enchantment. Yes, I want to win this house it is a DREAM…

  20. I love the morning sitting room . Would be a great place to drink your morning coffee and watching the Sun coming up in the morning with that view. My husband grew up in the Southwest and tells me how beauiful it is there. I have never been west of the Miss. River

  21. The decorating of this house is AWFUL .. way too much junk that is totally at odds with the interesting architecture. Through out all the crapola and let the spaces shine !! Get a new decorator. She made a mess of the Sonoma house as well.

  22. I LOVE THE casita it is just so romantic with the red walls and the shower you can see from the bed room HMMM I wonder how many SF the casita is?

  23. This home is fabulous. The Casita is stunning. I can sense a great deal of loving energy in this home. Thank you for providing a mini-escape every day for me. I became a nurse late in life and it has been a lifelong calling. I feel honored in the presense of healing energy that I encounter with the hospitalized. This home has this same type of energy. I can visualize it as being a place to give healing to others as well. Congratulations on the stunning achievement.

  24. I can't name just one room as my favorite! This whole house is amazingly beautiful! I would live in every room! I can picture our family there and hosting our special occasions with extended family in these beautiful spaces. I want it to be MINE!

The view is such an amazing thing !! This is my favorite DREAM HOME , I also was in LOVE with the home in SONOMA I wished and prayed for that one now I'm wishing to have this one !!!

  26. I love the house… It's beautiful… But, I can not understand the open bathroom. I don't want to see anyone doing their business when I'm relaxing on the bed and I certainly don't want anyone to see me!! I don't get it… If the toilet was private, it would be OK…

Lori on January 14, 2010 at 7:16 pm
    • If you won, why would you stay in the casita, when you'd have the master suite to yourself? Save it for a single guest staying over. They can't be both places at one time. The controversy over the "personal privacy issues" is something they do to stir up interest in the dream home sweepstakes. They've had an outdoor bathtub & showers that were questionable privacy wise, a master bathtub with glass doors to hallway of the house, etc.

  28. My daughter and I LOVE this house! Her favorite room is the purple guest bedroom and she was wondering what the closet in that room looked like and how big it was. This house is incredible!!!

    ~Thanks

  29. The atmosphere of the house, the fireplaces, the outdoor lounging, the dinning areas, the reflective meditation/reading area and the movie room welcomes a continuous and lite air of frivolity and upbeat encounters with others. This home offers the enjoyable highlights to any gathering, from the good sumptuous food prepared from a state of the art kitchen or straight from the "barbie" , and then retreating to the outdoor lounge for Summer Margaritas and stimulating conversation. Or a retreat into the Theater "Man Cave" for the Superbowl and then late night snacks with classic World War I & II movies. The anticipation already has me salivating over Brie cheese, muenster crackers and a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon.
