Norteño Margarita
Recipe provided by Quinn Stephenson
Yield: One Cocktail
Prep Time: 3 minutes
Cook Time: N/A
Ease of Preparation: Easy
Ingredients:
- • 2 ounces Tequila
- • 1 1/2 ounces fresh lime juice
- • 1 ounce of simple syrup
- • 1/2 ounce of green chile juice (see tips)
- • Margarita salt for rim
- • Lime wedge for garnish
Directions:
Using a lime wedge, coat the outside lip of a margarita glass and salt the rim. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Place remaining ingredients in the shaker and shake vigorously for three seconds. Pour the ingredients into the salted glass and garnish with a lime wedge.
Tips:
To make the simple syrup, use the ratio of one part water to one part granulated sugar.
To prepare the green chile juice, place 1 New Mexico green chile in a blender with 1 ounce of water and blend thoroughly. Separate the puree with a fine mesh strainer and place in a squeeze bottle. If New Mexico green chiles are not available, serrano peppers may be substituted.

Enjoying my second viewing of the Dream Home Special, but certainly it is so extraordinary as to deserve an in-person visit (as does every year's Dream Home.)
I hope we can look forward to open invitation tours coming soon. While I'm in the area, I'll enjoy ALL of the various architectural and interior design styles to be found around Santa Fe, from Old World Traditional to Southwest Contemporary. It's the diversity of design, anywhere from plenty of local flavor to subtle splashes of color and regionally sourced artwork and accessories that make the area so enchantingly of interest to me.
Now, back to the magic of the Dream Home Special. Happy Turquoise Trails & Santa Fe Soirees!
Coop, when are you visiting the area? If possible, schedule some time with Dutch, then give us a very detailed report about all you learn. Thanks!
I'm working on my schedule, but I don't think I can make a trip there until summer (unless I squeeze one in fairly soon—but I'd prefer not to go when the weather's on the frosty side.)
I'll have a long trip coming up to Thailand in a few months and that will keep me occupied for awhile.
Don't forget those special New Mexico Green Chili enhanced margaritas!
Andale, amigos! Vamanos pues!
Hey, JMack. I'll avoid sarcasm. I'm a card carrying liberal, used to be a card carrying communist. Gave up working for Avon in New York in 1967 to teach in Black schools in Canton, Miss. First to do so. Had threats from the Klan, run off the road by them, yack, yack. Demonstrated against Viet Nam in 60's and 70's. Member of young Democrats. Have always stuck my neck out for causes, usually liberal, in which I believe. That included and includes being politically active. But I never used insulting language toward someone I disagreed with. Maybe that's why I stayed alive. I saved the foul mouth for expressing my feelings with those who knew and accepted me. You have no right to denegrate people you don't know on this blog. And you certainly don't know Katydid, who has been a part since the beginning. If you can't behave yourself, stay out. Lessie in particular has tried to be patient, but I don't care if you are a full blooded Ogalala Lakota, it does not give you the right to come into a plesant environment and spray your anger your life's frustrations on us.
OMG, Coop, I meant to reply to you on the cocktail. I had another while watching the rerun of the DH tour. This time I used Tobasco, not wanting to go through the chili deal. I just bought one in case I didn't like it. Apologies for venting re JMack. What a jerk. I can't find his response to her right now, but it was nasty. I think, to late, that we all should ignore him and not reply to any of his posts.
DebbieFlorida, you are a hot mess, or maybe it's the cocktail with tobasco (good stuff).
I see that you, Coop, Lynn and others watched the Dream Home special today. I've decided that this isn't my Dream Home because I can't stay awake during the special.
BTW: From your resume, you can hold your own against anyone anywhere. Anyone who likes reptiles has my respect. Hope you're not around if I have a hoe in my hand and see a snake.
DebbieFlorida—LOL—At first I thought, OMG, was it my Spanish salutation that was misread? Really though, I realized who you were directing the comment to and why, and I can assure you that no offense was taken on my part!
Reminds me of when I've made comments about the Dream Home, forgetting that I'm still on the Green Home site, or vice versa. I'm sure other readers are scratching their head, thinking that old DB has finally gone off the edge and his mind has flown the coop!
Where does the electricity come from–does it have a generator? and what does it cost to run water and gas from the city to there? Is there air conditioning? It will cost a fortune to heat and cool that house with the high ceilings. I did see solar panels which were never mentioned.
The exterior is very plain and the interior very cold–did you notice the echo when talking in the kitchen?
Wonder how far from the city it was? Might be hard to sell….
As far as the water feature that many bloggers seem to want, I believe that a water wall or the multi-column fountain shown in this site below could be the ticket….
http://www.cswwnm.com/custom_fountains_waterwalls…
It's a company in New Mexico and serves the Dream Home area. In addition, as far as water conservation in the desert, I believe most of these type of water features are self powered by a motor so they only have to be filled one time.
I think HGTV wanted us to use our imaginations with this one and use some of the $500,000 to make it happen to our liking.
Living the Dream!
I love this site! Thanks Lynn. I would be happy to spend a wee bit of the $500,000 on a water feature, inside the home would be great. One of the pics made me think….maybe they planed a water feature around the base of the monolith, but found it too huge an effort.
Maybe a wall one inside and a smaller one outside……….dreaming big time.
Lynn, this is a great find! Love the way you keep us updated.
One of my friends had an exercise pool installed in her basement. That sounds more appealing to me than watching uninvited and unwanted critters in or near my water feature.
When I went outside this morning, it was 17 degrees and the wind was whipping. Are you experiencing the same weather?
I know you are cold, but the Raven won and have a wild card slot, no?
This is a happy/sad time. Happy that the Ravens made it to the playoffs but sad that Houston didn't make the playoffs. It's a shame that they both couldn't make it, especially after Houston spanked New England!
Hope the Ravens can repeat Houston's victory over New England next week.
Fly Eagles Fly!!!!! E-A-G-L-E-S!!!!!
Living the Dream!
Lynn, I can't believe the Eagles lost to the Cowboys. My daughter is an Eagles fan. I'm hoping the Eagles are victorious over the Cowboys on Saturday. Go Eagles go!!!
It was a real bummer…yes, we are looking forward to next Sunday in Dallas….go EAGLES!!!!!
Living the Dream!
Great site, Lynn! Thank you for the discovery. I am a lover of water, from indoor fountains to outdoor, ponds to pools, bay to breakers, so this site you provided was quite a treat.
After careful consideration (about two minutes worth!) I decided I'd spend a few of those $500,000 greenbacks on the 6' Single Column Fountain with covered water basin outside and just off to the right of the front entry. The next water feature would be to incorporate the Contemporary Fountain into the right flank of the low back patio wall, for viewing from the Kitchen and Great Room, yet without encroaching on the spectacular views. Last but not least of all, I'd place the Natural Multi-Column Fountain in a "softly" visible (and audible) spot against the Master Bedroom/Sunrise Room patio wall enclosure. I think that might suffice for my love of the sound (and views) of water. If I could solar power them during the day, so much the better.
LOVED THE OUTSIDE ,BUT THE INSIDE DID NOT SEEM SOUTHWEST. I WOULD HAVE LIKED MORE TILE ON THE FLOORS AND MAYBE AN ADOBE FIREPLACE. ALTHOUGH THERE WAS SOME SOUTHWEST DECOR ,I THOUGHT IT WAS LACKING.
Agree with you very much. Sponsors can't sell southwest though universally, so they put in the home what they can sell & what is selling. Latest, is modern contemporary in thruout all motifs. So here we are with what is put in the lovely southwest, what is marketable & what they are selling to us as southwest.
Big business, does what big business does, and this is a give away for all the free marketing they can garner for all the lucky donated products to come up with design space.
This house is beautiful, and the type of home I have always wanted. Hope to see myself within this dream home.
Just voted for the housewarming gifts. I think the popcorn machine will make the Home Theater smell just like going out to the movies, but better cause you don't have to leave home. Whichever seat you pick, it'll be the best seat in the theater.
I'm also so glad to see Gail back.
Dear Bloggers,
We just completed watching the HGTV Dream Home-Again! Wow!!!!!!!!!
Lynn, The Custom Stone & Water Works, LLC. is out of this world. We went to the site with anticipation of great water designs that would be offered. But, the "Multi Column" fountain parallels the large rock in the front of the home. We believe that this would be a perfect fit in the front of the home. The indoor water fountains are just as fabulous as the outdoor. Oh, my this is a fantastic site! Thanks Lynn!
Happy New Year All!
Dream Big!!!!!!!
Agreed Austin…love the Multi Column fountain! Glad you liked the site!
Living the Dream!
Hey ! Love the New hgtv home. I taped it so that I can watch it whenever I want to.
For those of you who have Google Earth with Street View. You can take 360 degree tours every few feet from Hwy 14 to the gate house, as well as all down the entire route. Check out Madrid. What a delightful little artists' colony.
Can we see Dutch waving from the clubhouse, or maybe the Dream Home?
One Question;
Can you enter to win more than once in a day? I submitted more than one form and it didn't say "only submit one"
do those count? or count againest you? HELP!
Don't know what happens to extra entries, but the rules posted say only one e-mail entry per day. Good luck!
Thanks to GAIL's newest blog, I guess we know the answer to this question now—the HGTV computer simply "dispenses" with the extra daily entries, always leaving one valid entry, so not to worry if you accidentally submit an extra or two during the day.
thanks! good luck to all!
probably not the right place to ask but when entering do you have to enter by email OR mail or can you do both?
Dawn, the rules state you can enter once a day by e-mail and as often as you like by snail mail. You can check the rules posted for other restrictions.

Living the Dream!
Hi Mary!
What a GORGEOUS home! HGTV, you did it again. Not only beautiful but every detail has been enriched to the culture of the area and the state of New Mexico. The recipe is fantastic. I can see myself relaxing next to the outdoor fireplace on a cool sunset evening, sipping on my Norteño Margarita, thanks to Quinn's recipe. I send my thanks to the fabulous HGTV Dream Team of creating one of the finest quality built homes that will be standing strong for many years to come. What a true compliment to the land, mountains and valleys. Just beautiful. Great job and well done!
I'm new to New Mexico and live in Albuquerque. I need a permanent home and this one would do fine! I drove by SPO today; beautiful area! Would like to know more about taxes and insurance for my new home!
I too would like to know – are there HOA fees since it is a community – and if there are how much are they? Also, is the mortgage completely paid for whoever the winner is? Just curious questions is all folks and thanks in advance. Happy New Year!
Did you go through the community? reply with your information and I'll send the HOA & Property tax information.
Temps in our area have recently been in the NEGATIVE numbers WITH a LOT of snow.
So to read that the weather is MILD, is just another perk of this DH!
Negative temps?! Yikes, it's beyond my comprehension!
I think the home is amazing. I love the character of the house. I basically love the views, because I live in the city and you don't see homes like that, well at least I haven't seen one. I give this Dream Home two thumbs up good work HGTV!!!!! : 0 )
Hey Guys: Okay, I feel like a fish out of water here! I guess that will teach me NOT to go out of town during a special time like this….the beginning of the end! The end being the person picked at random to WIN this absolutely breath-taking SouthWestern Contemporary-Styled Home! I can see myself relaxing with Quinn's Norteño Margarita while snuggled up close to the outdoor fireplace on any given evening!! Thank you once again HGTV Dream Team for creating another jewel! This gem shines with its surrounding mountains and valleys along the Turquoise Trail!
Marie, even a valued HGTV blogger deserves a little time off for good behavior—although after the Vegas trip, we may have to sit you in a corner for awhile….
Wow Marie, You wrote almost exactly what I wrote! I am about 4 bloggers above you. Read what I wrote. You must be my HGTV soul sister as we think alike!
KCMORealtor, Sheryl
I just love this house! My oldest child was so fascinated with it that she preferred watching it to one of her favorite shows! Has anyone noticed if there is a powder room?
Yes indeed, it is nest to the office.
Lynn, thank you for sharing the info on the fountains.. Maybe, there is an indoor wall water feature across from the sitting area… as we have yet to see that wall between the Office and Dining Room (the mysterious "powder room?) Can't wait for the unveiling of that space. It was soooo cold this morning in South Florida!!! Tomorrow, even colder!! Coldest temps in 9 years!! My dog doesn't want to go outside. He actually needs a sweater. Marie, can't wait to hear about your exciting adventure in "Lost Wages"! LOL!! Congratulations to the married couple. I hope that you made your entries! I kept positive wishes, sent your way! My Son mentioned that if we won, that he would change the playhouse into a changing room and then add a stage to put on different plays with his newly made friends. How entertaining and creative! I know that I would eat outside everyday possible. Okay, there is no pizza oven … but, with $500,000… you could add one. And a spool (exercise pool, you swim against a current and it doesn't take much room…and you can add it to the solar power grid)!! Thank you Linda and Jack for all of the hard work that you do! Your passion, creativity and talent is greatly appreciated by many of us. You continue to amaze each and every year. The wonderful products that you use from the HGTV advertisers is never boring or redundant. By purchasing local artwork and home goods, you personalize the home and excite us. Desert living is tranquil, pulchritudinous and spiritual for many. (as long as you keep the scorpions at bay) Thank you MARY, for always keeping us interested and informed. GAIL, we want to hear more from you and hope that you had a marvelous Holiday!!! Coop, you are doing an awesome job keeping the perspectives of others open and honest, without judging! Always the wise one! Love life by living green and having a dream!!!
Thanks, reneelovesgreen, but it's not always easy! However, by and large, as GAIL stated in her newest blog, we're a good-natured and reasonably well-behaved group of HGTV dreamers!
Hi there,
I love New Mexico….and i dream of living there. …I enjoy the scenery, the rich culture and great architecture of the area. Hope that someday my dream comes true.
I mean next!
I know there is some complaining going on about the Dream Home for 2010, but have those that did ever given thought to a family that never had a house? My wife grew up in terrible circumstances & never even had a "home" as a child due to the circumstnaces she was brought up under. She lived in a "prison" & yes I helped get her out of that situation, but all I am able to provide my wife & now son with is a small apartment, though we are still able to say "home" due to the love our little family has for each other. I would absolutely LOVE to win this sweepstake for my wife & son just so we could have a house, finally! A good working car, finally! And cash that I would put away to help us live there & help to pay the medical bills my wife has due to having Fibromyalgia (chronic pain) & ME/CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) from a coma she had been in. (Continued…)
(Continued…) There would be EXTRA cash in our lives, finally! My wife & son deserve to have such beauty around them & to have not only a "home" situation, but a house they can finally call home sweet home. It would do my wife immense good to be around such peaceful views & to have such nice things in her life, & my son too. There are people out here who are desperate for such things, some even more desperate than us too, but atleast I am in a position to be able to enter for my family & do my best to try to win what truly would be a "dream" for all of us come true. I just don't think you are understanding the desperation of some people out here & I wanted to remind you what a blessing this home could be.
Well put!! We send you our well wishes and much luck!!! Don't listen to the negativity… as there are always that bunch that come in this time of the sweepstakes!! I usually ignore it unless they attack some of the friends that I have made!! Some just can't appreciate anything. Good Luck!!
Thank you very much, reneelovesgreen!! We really appreciate the well wishes & for the fact that people feel good for us. That means a lot. TY.
Kevin, you shared from a perspective no one had considered. Thanks. Hope your family situation improves and that your wife finds some relief from her illness.
You are welcome for my pointing out this perspective to everyone. I am touched that reneelovesgreen & yourself responded. There are many people like myself out there, I believe, that have never had the opportunity to have an actual house to call home. It is a sad thing for a family, but having a solid foundation in my marriage & with our child makes for a very loving family that compensates in a lot of ways for what you don't have. But, boy, I sure would love to see my wife & son's faces if I could tell them, "Hey! We finally have a house to call home! And a vehicle that will actually work & be reliable! AND on top of that these kind people are giving us money too to help us along!" I just know their faces would beam so!! I know it would make me cry the biggest tears of joy & I wouldn't care if there was a camera there or not. That would be the most touching & compassionate thing anyone had ever done for us. I am hoping our family situation improves also with the help of a lot of prayers. And thank you from the bottom of my heart for saying you hope my wife's illnesses improve. That was nice of you to think of her & to send her well wishes. She goes through so much.
Hi Kevin,
I can relate to your situation too. I am single, never had a home, injured nearly 3 years ago and partially disabled for life. The chronic pain, migraines and severe joint pain in my jaw/head due to arthritis sitting in is somewhat incomprehensible to those who have never experienced such debilitating chronic pain. As I sit in my one bedroom apartment and in the middle of a snow storm with severe pain due to the weather, I am greatful that I have a roof over my head and this home and location of this gorgeous home will benefit those such as your wife simply because it is in an area that is dry and free from a lot of bad weather. It would improve the quality of life just by that alone. So when I see those that are on here complaining of the way that it was built, the location of it or what furnishings it was supplied with, I sit and shake my head in total confusion when it could benefit so many that don't have much. Kevin, my prayers go out to you and your family. I wish you the best and may God bless you with this gorgeous home. I know you would put a lot of love into it.
Take Care~Sheryl H.
Hello Sheryl H. (KanasCityRealtor),
My heart goes out to you, Sheryl. It has to be so hard going through the pain you go through being single. I know that my wife has told me many times that she doesn't know how she'd keep her head above the pain she goes through without me in her life & I was just sitting here thinking about you & what it must be like to go through the pain you have without anyone right there to be supportive by your side. I truly hope you have good family or genuine friends to stand by you through this all. Living with chronic pain as you & my wife do is so overwhelming & I would just hate to think you are going through that alone. You are so correct that such debilitating chronic pain is incomprehensible to those who don't live with it day in & day out. People who don't have a loved one with it don't even begin to see or know the true meaning of pain. I feel for you. (continued…)
What a disappointment.
HGTV builds a house in an area of the country with a unique style, and almost entirely avoids incorporating any of it. Yes, it is true that not everyone in New Mexico has or wants a "Santa Fe" or "Southwestern" decor. But all of that is part of a allure of New Mexico. If you are going to build a "Dream Home," why would you not take advantage of that. When people dream of moving to New Mexico they typically have that in mind.
The casita – well, most casitas have a small kitchen and perhaps a living room. This casita is really just an outside bedroom with a very unusual layout that makes it unusable for a great many people. Even as part of a couple, I don't really want to be on display when I'm using the commode. And all the light from the bathroom going to the bedroom at night.
The tile walls. People will probably love them or hate them. I generally don't like them, and they would be a pain in the neck to replace. It's not like changing the color of a painted wall. Even if you like it today, will you like it in 5 years? Try to hang a picture on it. Try to paint over it. After paying the taxes and ongoing maintenance expenses, the winner is probably not going to want to shell out more $ to demo a wall and start over.
No TV in the greatroom?, and it really would be hard to put one in, because there is not an obvious wall to use. In a casual southwestern home, you would expect a TV in the greatroom where everyone congregates. Instead, it is tucked into a relatively tiny room with bad seating options. Was that the best furniture they could get from Ethan Allen for TV viewing.
The laundry room seems like it is in the master bedroom? That doesn't make much sense to me.
Overall the home is just too formal. Southwest living is generally more casual. This home seems designed as more of a formal design showcase than a home for real people to use. I can see fancy cocktail parties working well. HGTV missed an opportunity here.
John, I feel bad that you don't enjoy the Dream Home this year. But, many of us do love it … and would love to correct a few items for you.. The first laundry room is beside the Sunrise room.. the second one is in the hall close to the Guest Room. There is no TV in the greatroom.. yes,, Because there is one, huge one in the Theater room, and in the other bedrooms. And, as for the furniture.. you can move it to suit your needs… (I think it looks much better than theater seats) I believe that frees up the Great room for entertaining and breathing in those unbelievable views. I do agree with you regarding the Casita… though you could easily fix those items that you don't like …. maybe installing a "fog" feature in the glass wall or a simple curtain.. And … they have not released detailed info on the interior.. there may be a small fridge… coffee maker… And, you can down play the tiled walls by painting the other walls in a more neutral color. The designer can not design for you personally, as this is a random drawing.. But, once you have won… you can decide to change some items or to sell it… This is the 14th year of the Dream Home and the crew at HGTV are very passionate at what they do… and work hard at doing it!! Don't forget it is a Dream Home…. if you want something a little less costly… there is a wonderful Green Home and Blog Cabin that is given away, as well!! I don't think that anyone here will force you to enter for something you don't really love!! Good Luck!!
Great points and a reasonable opinion shared by others here. However, if you were here with me right now walking through the house I'd like to think you'd see it differently. Having developed/sold luxury home communities/resorts for the last 12 years I think this sets the standard for media rooms. As for the laundry room it is in the master suite but off the main hallway. As for places to hang art, photos or other New Mexican wall coverings there is a lot of space to do so. And if you can afford to own a Dream Home then you'll be able to redo the Tile wall in the great room in 10-15 years as needed. Thanks again, you brought up good points.
Wow Dutch, that's the first time i heard you go on the offensive. You're good!
People do feel strongly as you do John as a missed opportunity is just that as here, but not what is selling, so we get what we get. I definitely love true features that could have been articulated in this Southwest home, but isn't with this version here, but it's a give away, built with latest & greatest products trying to take it's spotlight with manufacturers products as installed for marketing 101 as done here.
Some of us do work in these professions, do understand more here & need not have silly fluffy rebukes on ideology from one blogger to another, please. Let it go, it’s just a blog for voicing ideas, thoughts, notions, to giving aid to marketing staff here on any product or new proposed products. Come to reality, you may want it to be more than it is here, but it’s just a blog for marketing & getting feedback for suppliers, manufacturers, & vendors as they are their clients for this business they do here. You have become familiar on blogs & with personalities here at HGTV/Scripps. They get paid no different than anyone else, only their jobs are publicized as is.
You are correct PFG.. We all work hard. But, we are lucky to not be scrutinized by so many bloggers. We have all built up a friendly community and appreciate differences, perspectives, objectives and enthusiastic commentary. Most are aware that the Sponsors/Advertisers are the driving force for the direction and completion of the Dream Home, Green Home and Blog Cabin and are very happy to support. This is not new, as it happens in most Commercial situations, even within our Government. We merely like to support the crew of HGTV as yearly they astonish the majority with their creativity by completing another home that is completely different than the one before. There are few who come to disapprove with the process, politics and winnings, so we may jump in for a interjection. This blogging community is full of delightful, intelligent and caring individuals who appreciate that this a Sweepstakes (given away for free)…and understand that HGTV could never appease every palette of individual preference. The main objective here is to keep to conversations positive, uplifting, honest and open. All have the right to make complaints or objections, as long as one is not hurt by their words, which I am sure that you would agree. The last few years a few came on to attack, so HGTV implemented "IntenseDebate" to clean it up. BTW, what would you do with the home if you won… and are you entering ?? Good Luck!!! Have a wonderful day!!!
This is the best yet! Love it! I can imagine retiring there and having my children and grandchildren visiting!
The house was wonderful. I wish the program would also give more detailed explanations about water, power and internet access. It has an office, but no one stated if one could get cable, DSL or any other form of internet access. I tend to look at the "bones" of a home and since I work from my home, that would be an important feature for me. It gave the wonderful impression of relaxation – which I think most of us need. Smile. Good luck everyone!
Jan, someone said the Dream Home has internet access. The water source is a shared well for every five homes. SPODutch is a resident and can answer all your questions.
SPODutch, were you at the Dream Home party? If so, in what scene(s)? Will try to find you the next time the Dream Home special is shown.
Unfortunately I was not at the party I was out of town and it pained me greatly not to be there…the house was finally coming together. The only camera time I received was on HGTVpro.com as part of building the home and it was so much fun to have Jack interview me in front of my house here at the Overlook.
LOVE New Mexico… especially skiing Red River. And I'm sure my family would love a round of this drink at the Dream House!
WOW!!!!!!!! This is a dream house to beat all dream houses. My mom says she wants it sooo bad.
I am entering her and I everyday. She is 76 and quite spunky. I would like to wish everyone good luck.
I can only look at the pictures and DREAM BIG.
Bev
Tell me which vlog and I'm going there now. Waiting for your response. Just think, I know a CELEBRITY!
SPODutch, looking at the Southwestern Style Varieties vlog. Is that you with Jack standing in front of your home? Neils? If so, nice home! Are you coming to the blogger party if a blogger wins?
does anyone know how much the taxes would be?? would the $500,000 cover it with any left over? I know in the past many winners had to sell immediately because they couldn't get a loan to cover the taxes. How do we figure out how much it would really be? thanks to anyone who can answer.
The house is fantastic—love decor—not some New Mexico kitschy crap—would be perfect in Santa Barbara–Miami Beach or the Hamptons. Great taste in everything in house but won't be entering as wouldn't even visit this tasteless provincial area. Amazed that people criticize the house–I'm sure they all live in dumps in middle America!!!!!!!
I don't live to far away. I live in Las Vegas. However, I wonder if they would let a single women win.
(Continued…) Yes, the weather in New Mexico will be of great benefit to my wife too, this is very true, as it would be to you also. So, yes, when we see these people complaining about such things as the location or the furnishings you & ourselves included do shake our heads in much confusion. Have these people never had to go without? Or have they become so detached from what that feels like that they forgot? I don't know. But, it is good to know that you too see where I am coming from & your well wishes are so touching when I know it would do you a lot of good to have the home too. I appreciate your prayers for myself & my family. We wish you the best also. (Continued…)
(Continued…) Your words have truly touched my heart & I hope you know there are those out here who not only understand & feel for your pain, but that are here for you for all you go through. My wife is on Facebook if you'd like to look her up. Her name is Diana Fox. She said you may request to be her friend if you would like some genuine support for all you go through. She truly understands what you are feeling & is such a good woman, she would definitely be there for you should you need a friend. (Just in case…no hard feelings if you don't want to…) Take good care of yourself, Sheryl, & know that you will be in our prayers too.
Love the Dream Home, the turquoise colors pop and relate to Nex Mexico. Monice is a fabulous presentator in showcasing the home. Love the Casitas, could be used for a Mother-n-Law's quarters. Perfect, close to the house. Low maintenance landscape is a plus.
Hi Kevin,
Thank you for your prayers! I cannot get enough of those.
I have my dog Princeton with me. My mom is 82 and lives 30 minutes from me so she doesn't have the strength to help. My sister lives in Florida and I live in Kansas. My brother lives an hour away with a growing family and two jobs so I only see him 4 times a year. Between Princeton, the good Lord above and my team of doctors and physical therapist that I see once a week I make it through each day. Even though I don't have anyone here to support me through this I count my blessings every day. I sustained a macro-trauma to the right jaw and neck nearly three years ago. I have been unable to work since. I am a licensed Realtor but have referred everything out to one my co-workers and just take a referral fee. I suffer horrible headaches, migraines, vertigo, eye pain, neck pain, constant ringing in the ears, and the jaw is so constricted due to atrophy that the jaw is considered locked closed. I have my jaw stretched once a week in intense physical therapy which usually leads to severe migraines afterwards. The purpose of stretching is to maintain an opening. When I started PT, I had about a 3 mm mouth opening and now I am at 26 mm. but have to continue PT for the rest of my life to sustain an opening at that level. I use to go to PT three times a week but my insurance cancelled me and now that I am pre-existing I am uninsurable. Between the costs of doctor visits, medications and physical therapy, I can only afford to go once a week. I am not asking for any pity here, that is the last thing I want. What I do want to make apparent is when I see people on here complaining about the location of a home, how it was built, what furnishings they supplied it with, I sit here and cry thinking what a precious gift that HGTV and this team of builders, designers and decorators not to mention all the vendors that have donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to provide someone a beautiful home, bought and paid for and then they have to go and tare it down with the words and criticism. It hurts me to hear such things after all these people have worked so hard to give such a wonderful and loving gift. As long as I live, I will never understand that. Kevin, I appreciate your loving support and I would be happy and feel honored to be in touch with your wife. You can have her e-mail me at skh1228@kc.rr.com. I feel we are all family here and I come here to the HGTV website a lot just to see the beautiful homes, decorations and I am glued to the HGTV cable channel.
It brightens my day everyday. Thank you Kevin for your loving words. God bless you and your family in 2010 and many years to come.

I have watched the dream home a few times now and each time find something new to like. I still don't like the casita tile (love the colors tho). Small glass tiles are not my favorite. The floors get prettier with every viewing, and like the sunrise, guest and master bedrooms alot. How great it would be to live there. The area is just beautiful. Never noticed the glass garage doors until someone pointed them out. What's with that? That might be a changer down the road if it really was what I thought I saw.
I am in love with this house! I watched the show and have put in my entries! I would be blessed to win such and amazing gift! My husband and I have yet to own our own home. I would love to be able to tell my husband that we are moving to New Mexico!! We have spent many years separated due to military service and well it would be a wonderfull new start for us. Good luck to all who have entered and God Bless the family that wins!!!!! All the best of wishes to them.
I love the home and can't wait to be living there. I can see myself there now. i'm amazed at the negative comment I've been reading. I was laid off of my job at a popular boat company and have been on unemploiyment for one and a half years. My company is paying for us to go back to school through the
Trade Act. I would love to live in New Mexico. My dad was born there. I'm a single woman, it would be perfect for me to go there and write a book. Again love it. Amagine waking up to that every morning. WOW, what a blessing.

BEAUTIFUL!!!!! New Mexico or stay in frozen Minnesota? New Mexico here I come!
OMG. This house truly is a dream home. I know there are tons of people dreaming about winning it. I am definitely one of them. I can imagine actually being able to raise my two beautiful kids there in a home instead of some crappy basement apartment. And it probably wont bother me nearly as much that the sperm donor hasnt done anything because me and the kids would be pretty set up. That office is great too. Ive been dreaming about what business I would be running from there
Well good luck everyone I am going to be entering and praying everyday for the next month.
I think the house is absolutely AMAZING!!!!! I never thought in a million years I would fall in love with a pueblo style home and decor. When I think southwestern decor, I am instantly taken back to 1990 to the little mexian guy sitting down with his head down leaning on a cactus and really bad colors. So NOT 1990….lol. I love the touch of turqoise in every room. An opportunity like this couldnt have come at a better time for my son and me. We really would like to be settled between California and Texas (family in both states). I am entering like everyone else. I hope it goes to a great family that deserves such an awesome gift.
