  1. I have been thinking about this home since the first time I saw it. I would love to live where it is hotter than here. What a great dream come true for someone I hope it is us, I need a new start for my family! And if its not I wish the winner congrats and happy home to you!

  2. I grew up in NM,at WSMR, and have always felt that my soul belongs there. Over the years I have returned to visit friends to hike, snowshoe and camp throughout the desert& mountains. New Mexico is surely Gods Country! It would be a dream come true to be able to call New Mexico home!I hope the winner,if not me, fells the same way about New Mexico. Best of luck to all.

  3. where are the shades or night time privacy

laura on January 30, 2010 at 5:05 pm
    • The home is off on its own 3acre lot, in a gated community. Once won, the winner can't add all the finishing touches they feel are important. like more window treatments.

  4. Each day that I "visit" this home I can only dream of living in it! What a wonderful demonstration of SouthWest living and salute to native american artwork etc. I certainly hope whoever wins will truly appreciate every corner of this beautiful home!

  5. HGTV is the best! I put the notice on facebook for the sweepstakes! I send tons of emails to my friends about it! I LOVE HGTV!

  6. Finally this home appears to be handicap accessible . This has been a much needed.

  7. I'm sure everyone of the 5.5 million or more who will enter the 2010 Dream Home Sweepstakes are hoping their name will be drawn. I'm curious about the past winners. How many many are residing in their homes?

pgoodman on January 30, 2010 at 7:00 pm
    • No one who has won an HGTV dream home is living in it. They've been from across the country from the dream home they won, and decided to sell it sooner or later.

  8. Can someone tell me who the manufacturer of the exterior windows is for this house?

  9. Why are you not accepting my phone number, or my daughters number ????

Lucy Nelson on January 31, 2010 at 12:13 am
    • What's going on ????

Lucy Nelson on January 31, 2010 at 12:20 am
    • There are also mail in entries, if you can't get your phone number to work with the online form.

Some other folks have reported problems with their phone number too, but I've had no problems entering. Is there something unusual about your location, and thus your phone number? This is the first year they're allowing Puerto Rico to enter for example. They might have missed something, but don't worry the official rules allow for online not work for everyone, everywhere, everytime. Are you sure you completed all the mandatory fields on the form, sometimes error messages are wrong for such things. Did you enter your phone number exactly in the format they show. Does it have the right amount of digits?

    LOL !!!!!!!!!!!

    Good luck to everyone!

  12. Does it come with a HOA??????

MsAtl on January 31, 2010 at 4:43 am
    • Of course it does. It is in a gated community with a homeowners association.

  13. A-maz-ing . . . what else can you say about this home. Just completing the entry form brings a little ray of sunshine into my day. I love all the shows on HGTV and this contest is just a little something extra for all of us loyal fans to enjoy each day. Keep on dreaming . . . .

  16. What a lovely way to exhibit the finery of HGTV's programming all in one annual give-away. Each and every house exumes not only up-to-date architectural and decorating ideas but the beauty of our country in the most appropriate and varied settings chosen for the homes. Your room-by-room displays are wonderful and enjoyed often. Thanks for providing such a welcoming venue to each day's television menu on HGTV and offering this chance to truly become part of the HGTV family.

  18. I heard of a sun room but not a sunrise room, just love it as the sun rises its always a start of a new beginning and I prefer to watch the sun rise instead of setting. Its a beautiful area and a home that is calming to one's soul. HGTV desing team did a great job my hat is off to them

  19. Bravo Zulu to the HGTV Staff and Builders to Dream Home 2010. A very nice and well put together concept of the home. The home is beautiful. There are no complaints from me whatsoever. We as Americans should be proud of the benefits we have here in America. Other countries around the world do not offer what we have here in America. The problem with American’s is that we complain too much about too little which makes us look ugly and not appreciative to what we have in this free Nation. As American’s we just need to thank God for our blessings and not complain and find faults. The only thing I did not here the host mentioning when conducting the tour of the home on television was closets in the other three bedrooms. Building codes in America requires that if you want a room to be called a bedroom you have to have a closet in that room. But all in all I have not complaints whatsoever. Once again hats off to the builders and HGTV Staff.

  29. OMG, this house is absolutely exquisite.. I love the Southwest and the location in the mountain, makes it even more inviting..The outside entertaining area, is the best and with the sunset and some friends with cocktails, that would be heaven..The whole layout is like a dream come true and this would be like vacationing every day…Of course, I would have to fill up the space, with more than just me..I would just walk around it every day, pinching myself, saying this cannot be TRUE…I also have relatives out in New Mexico and theyall could come over for a reunion… This would fulfill my life to no end…Someone will be very happy being announced the winner of the GREAT HGTV home and everything that comes with it… GOOD LUCK ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  31. We love this Dream Home! My husband is from Albuquerque, New Mexico we have lived in Idaho for more than 20 years but dream is to retire in the HGTV Dream Home. My husband’s family was one of the Albuquerque, New Mexico founding families from Span. We have much history there and want to win this dream home and move back to New Mexico. You can find the “Candelaria” name on a mural in old town Albuquerque which illustrates the founding families and conquistadors.

Wish us luck, Mike & Cyndi Candelaria

Cyndi Candelaria on February 1, 2010 at 8:02 pm
  32. Love, Love, this beautiful home. Being from New Mexico, I can say it is the perfect place to live and I want to go back. I have been away far to long. I visit my Uncle in Santa Fe every year around Indian Market.
    You can't beat New Mexico!

  33. ha, god has nothing to do with it. gods not here now , nor will he ever be. thats just a figment of peoples imagination. your better off praying to a rock

harold on February 2, 2010 at 4:07 pm
  34. Aaah where to begin, I just watched your story on HGTV's dream home and I must say what a TOTAL disappoint it is. Having lived in New Mexico for the last 55 years your dream home does little to capture the Southwest style. Matter of fact it in my opinion it fails totally. The design of the house looks like some of the prisons that have been built in NM and the inside geez where to begin. The kitchen, what kitchen??? Looks more like a fancy sushi bar and very unfriendly to use from what I can see. The media room, lousy attempt for one just blah. And the furniture, I know Ethan Allen was a sponsor of the show, though the designers missed a great opportunity to show case true South West furniture. The surrounding area of Santa Fe and Albuquerque has custom South West furniture builders that would knock your socks off. Did you use any them, barely. The casita, what a joke, a glassed in bathroom, how stupid!! The fire places (including the out door fireplace), gas??? are you kidding??? They should have been wood burning!! Kiva fireplaces or local stone designs should have been used. There is a friend of mine near Los Alamos that is a custom fire place builder. I've seen his work and it would knock your socks off. The only thing I don't have much of a gripe about is the landscaping, though it did need to be fenced in someway for pets, coyotes are in abundance there.

I've seen Southwest homes that would blow you away at half the cost of what the dream home is. You really dropped the ball on this home when it could have been a show case of Southwestern design. Instead you gave us an eh type of home, Not all that spectacular. if I were to win the home, I would have to take that $500,000 or what would be left of it after taxes and do some remodeling in short order, or just sell the place. Lordy, HGTV miss the boat on this one.

Bill on February 2, 2010 at 5:29 pm
    • The HGTV dream homes have always been contemporary transitional styles, with local touches of art and nature added in. Informal surveys showed they would get more interest that way, instead than following a classic style which most folks either love or hate. People made similar comments that the Sonoma, CA home should have showcased Victorian furniture, etc. If you win the dream home, you can have a wonderful time shopping for things and make it into your own personal dream.

      dreamn_again on February 2, 2010 at 7:55 pm
  35. This home is so gorgeous and beyond what I could ever dream of. I absolutely love this place not just because of the home itself but the outside of the home. I have waited my whole life to escape Missouri where I currently live, to live somewhere like this and I just wish whoever wins this happiness. I read some other blogs and my determination to someday move somewhere where it would be dryer and my heatlh would eventually be better and a good place to move my children and a place where they could explore nature and life more than they do here, definitely would outweigh any amount of taxes I would eventually pay. Some things are much more valuable than money.

Cara Marks on February 2, 2010 at 5:37 pm
  36. Hello again fellow bloggers, This one is for “Bill” I think the HGTV Dream Home is fabulous, whether or not it is “true” to Southwestern style or not. If you are so against it, then perhaps you should not enter and give us others who love it more chances to win…just sayin. To “Harold” I will pray for you WHILE I pray for the house!

    • Its behind the house past the outdoor grill. Check the photo sections of the online tour.

      dreamn_again on February 5, 2010 at 10:01 pm
    • across from the outdoor grill and family area. You can see it on the video if you watch closely

  38. Does anyone win that hasn't played every day for 10 years? I got started with entries late January and wonder if there is any hope. I just wonder if the computer randomly chooses the everyday player for the last 10 years?

NJO on February 7, 2010 at 2:32 pm
  39. How far is the nearest neighbor, school, hospital? I can't tell what the neighborhood is like. Is the house in a neighborhood or on a few acres? Sorry I must have missed something. I know it is between Albuquerque and Santa Fe, which I love. But how close to shopping? Ha!

nana on February 7, 2010 at 2:46 pm
    • The home is in a gated community which has building lots sized around 3acres a piece. The community has a clubhouse with a pool & spa. They've said its 15 minutes to some shopping, 45 or so to Albuquerque for city-type amenities.

  41. Everyone needs a dream. Everyone. It breaks the bad news cycle daily. I would be thrilled.
My hsuband is a disabled vet and we adopted 4 children. We are blessed already but
I could actually expand my veterans organization that has kinda been dwindling here in Ga.
An actual office space. My husband lived in Arizona once and I have been through New mexico some, but with this Native American heritage, and my love for wide open spaces, it would be ever so
nice. He lived in Arizona after Vietnam. We are taking care of 7 people right now and the space would definatey be nice. I have a four year old who gets up very early to see the sunrise. What a treat for her to see that specticular sky. Never stop dreaming. When dreams die, creativity ends and HGTV has plenty of creativity and dreams.

  43. Ohhhhhh man!! I so drool over this every day and night!!! Words cant express how much I would love to win this house. My girlfriend and I want to be photographers with an in home studio, thats something that is nowhere in reach because of the cost of the stuff. This is like our dream, BEAUTIFUL HOME, the view of the land is MAAAAADE to be captured on camera. The truck will be awesome to carry photography equipment. Right now we are tearing up our saturn with the weight of our equipment. One car is already gone dead because of our situation. The money….WHEW…..We can help a lot of people with that money. Mom can finally stop working two jobs after 31 years. We can write off scholarships, start a foundation….THE POSSIBILITIES ARE SOOOOOOOO ENDLESS. This is going to be great.

Regis on February 8, 2010 at 5:37 pm

  44. This is questions; What is the small room that you see at the back patio (with the door and with red curtains in the window)? What is the Sg. footage of the house and how many acres on the property? Could the winner put in a lap pool?

Denise Sirkus on February 10, 2010 at 5:21 pm
    • that's the childrens playhouse look at photos 7&8 on http://www.hgtv.com/dream-home/back-patio-photos-… to see a little of the inside. The dream home is listed as 3900 sq ft, on 3 acres of property. The winner should be able to put a pool on the property if they follow the guidelines for the development (appropriate fencing, etc.). The community center of the development has a community swimming pool that the monthly maintenance fees help provide.

  45. I would be so happy if you would ignore my first comment, it was one of those, boring sob stories, I was not having a good day. This is what I would like to say: How wonderful that you all are giving this fabulous home to some lucky person. It is beautiful beyound my imagination, serine, peacful, a life fit for a king and queen. I could never imagine living like that, and in New Mexico no less, I love the enviroment, the beautiful scenery, artifacts, paintings, jewelry….I love the silver jewelry and the beautiful stones, I like the weather, I have never lived in New Mexico climate, and adore the thunder and lightening, it is so exciting to me, how grand this dream home is, and thank you so much for the chance to enter, day after day. This is the most exquisite place in our beautiful, wonderful UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. God bless you all for giving someone the chance of a lifetime.
