It appears there is a dirt road not far from the court yard. It seems to run from off the driveway by the bench along the house past the garage.
Please let this be my home…..I am obsessed with this Home. Can't Wait to move in!!!!!
Does anyone know the size of the Kid's bedroom closet?
Does anyone know if those are actually solar panes atop the house? That would be excellent!
There is a walk in closet in every bedroom. See the floor plan here.
http://www.hgtvpro.com/hpro/photo_template/articl…
also it is a 4kW array.
I just saw that great, Bissell, commercial — the one with the lady who runs a "doggy day care center." That is my favorite BISSELL commercial!!! Especially, the part about "Mr. Jiggles" — that is Classic!
H_S…."use your inside voice"….LOL…Love that commercial. It is a Classic…you are right!!
That is too funny! Yeah, that part is my second favorite!!! hahaha!
Since you are a movie buff, I thought I'd tell you that I'm watching, "ATime to Kill" right now! What a POWERFUL movie that is, Oh My God!!!
Have it!! Good One!!
Honestly, I feel most worthy of winning this dream home because I left a happy home on the beach FLA) to build a guest ranch in NM- lost my Husband and the Ranch, moved to Las Cruces, made it in retail 4 years then the bottom fell out and I am loosing my home, I have worked so diligently for 12 years to have my home and security here in New Mexico. I have extended family and friend sin Albq. and Sante fe…this would be a healing for my struggles, I LOVE New Mexico. Please all- give me your blessing…..
Bloggies… I am heading out to the Super Bowl concert on the beach!!! I will be catching up tomorrow.. (probably 500 more comments, hehehe)!!! Love life by living green and having a dream!!
Hey, Renee, enjoy that concert! Who's performing??? No I don't mean THE WHO's performing!!! hahahaha!
The concert began at 6 p.m. Robert Randolph & the Family Band, Barenaked Ladies and O.A.R. are scheduled to perform. Fireworks at 9:40 p.m. The Who is today!! hehehehe ….. I have never seen so many school buses and people partying on their yachts!! Glad that we live so close to the beach, no shuttles, buses or taxis needed… But, the water taxis are always fun…(and I think that would be a fun job) Hope you have a great day today!!! And I will be cheering for your "Nayleens"…… YAY!!! Touchdown!! or is it score … or a goal… hehehehe
Enjoy the concert, Renee loves and lives Green. Don't forget the space shuttle launches tomorrow morning.
WOW… I forgot!! OOpss.. Are you doing anything special today? Hope that you have a great day!!!
Good thing that they moved it to Monday…..
Talking TRASH all day long!!! Since I don't have a favorite team, I'll be all over the place.
Hope you get this before you go, but I wanted to say:
Have a Wonderful Time!!!
* How exciting! *
Thank you…. too sweet!!
Those are solar panels.. The info is one the HGTVPro site and within this site…. I am too lazy tonight to post for you.. but, it is there!!! The kid's bedroom closet's size is not posted….
There is no closet in the kid's room, just the wood unit on the wall with the three part level.
HGTV I will enjoy this house unlike anyone else, if I win MY Dream Home this will be a gift from God. Me and my husband just got married in may of 2009, we are just starting our lives together and we want a house for our future, specially after we have our children. Ilove your TV Channel HGTV is always on at my house, I love your decorating ideas, and enjoyable hosts. I am going to say how we love this house in the three languages we speak at home: "YO AMOOOOOOO ESTA CASA DE MIS SUENOS." "EU AMO A CASA DOS MEUS SONHOS." I LOVE MY DREAM HOME."
Jenny….boy am I gonna have a hard time with only knowing one language, if I win. I read somewhere that 33% of the polulation there speaks spanish in their homes. I guess I'll just have to learn quickly. I'll have to call my sister-in-law to help me. When I was a small child, I did speak polish but do not remember it now. If you don't use it, you lose it….is what they say.
HGTV has outdone themselves! I take a look at this house on a daily. I can just picture my family relaxing and taking in those lovely sunsets. My grandmother visits every spring and we take three weeks in the summer to visit her. The Casita would be a great way to get her to stay permanently! Goodluck to you all!
I just wanted to say how Beautiful this home is. I have always dreamed of living in New Mexico. This would be a dream come true in the grandest way. Thank you for listening.
Thank you so much for the link . . . just when I think that I have viewed EVERYTHING about this house . . .
This has to be the greatest Dream Home yet. Two laundry rooms on top of all the other fantastic and unbelieveable features. I can only imagine what it would be like to win this house. I can only HOPE……
Well, the epic storm is over. Final accumulation for my area: 33.8 inches of snow. First place was 38.8 inches of snow. The State Highway Dept is still trying to clear one lane on I-95. It's bad, but people are in good spirits. Should be an interesting Super Bowl tomorrow. Super Snow vs. Super Bowl. Wonder who will win.
Wow, Lessie — almost 34 inches of snow! I'll bet things are pretty much at a standstill there! Is your area equipped to handle that much snow? How soon will they dig you out? And I am so sadly clueless when it come to football — where is the Super Bowl being played (aren't I pathetic?!?)?
The Big Game is in Miami — snow shouldn't be a problem.
C&E, believe it or not, the 34 to 38.3 inches of snow will not shut down this area for long. The primary concern is getting power to those whose power is out, only around 16,000 plus now.By Monday, we should be up and running again, well at least the major arteries. I-95 now has several lanes open, but the ramps still need work. If you're driving through, w/o exiting, you're good. If not, you may spend an extra day or two here.
Although we got a late start shoveling, we stayed at it until around 10:30 PM and got our driveway and one car cleared. We were the only ones with access to the road. When the snow plows came thru, they didn't cover our opening. However, the curbs have at least five feet of snow or more. Schools will probably be cancelled Monday because no one has gotten to the sidewalks yet. Side streets will probably be cleared by Tuesday, the day the next snow is forecasted for the area.
Lessie, I'm glad you're back blogging after all that snow. I was hoping that you and others weren't without power, like so many other people in your area!
I used to hate it when the snowplow dumped a big load in my already cleared driveway — glad that didn't happen to you.
We're good, H_S. Our utilities are underground. Even the snow plow was good to us.
WOW!!! Lessie, hang in there my friend…. Wish we could go play in the 33.8 inches of snow!!! I know, probably not what you want to hear…
You'd love it Renee loves and lives Green. Kids are having a great time sledding, making snowmen, and having snow ball fights. Even adults are joining in on the snowball fights.
Our final tally was 28 inches! So fun…now…come on spring!
Living the Dream!
P.S. I think we are due to get hit again on Tuesday or Wednesday. You?
Yes Lynn, we're scheduled to receive that snow also. But so is Luba and Glenn in New York! In fact, New York should receive the full impact of that storm accoridng to the weather forecasters.
Well, go figure, we (NYC) were spared this time and I made sure I had everything so that I would not need to go out. {te he he}
On happier thoughts: Did you join the snowball fight, Lessie?
Luv2C_NewThings, those partiipating in the snowball fight didn't have to shovel. Everyone else was shoveling!
FYI: the preparations you made for the storm, save them. New York should receive snow from the Tues/Wed storm.
Hey Lessie,
Yup ~ we got hit good on Wed and that is what I kept telling my neighbors as I was shoveling with them. This is Mother Nature's payback for not clobbering us during the weekend.
Everything is good now though. Took two tylenols for the back yesterday, all major roads are clear, buses were still running day of the storm, and school was back in session by Thursday morning.
As strange as it is to say – there were no kids playing outside. No igloos, snowmen, or snowball fights. I guess they would all rather be nice and warm inside.
Shoveling heavy, wet snow is no fun. Hope you don't get as much snow as we received. So far we have an overall total of about 80 inches. Tried to break up some 3 inch ice today. Brought out the shovel, spade, hoe, etc. After about an hour or so, I stored the garden tools, came inside and took some aspirin. Decided to let the sun do it's job without interference from me.
Lynn,
If it helps any, I'll hope that none of us gets clobbered with anything until waaay after the DH Winner has been announced.
Agreed!
Living the Dream!
Sounds good to me, especially if I win or someone on the blog wins!
It would be great to have two laundry rooms one for my wife and one for me.She does not like for me to mess with her laundry.LOL. And winning this house would be so nice.It would be nice to see how a 3900 sf home feels like compared to 900sf with two kids. Our youngest messes up the house before we can blink.lol If we won this house it would take her a lot longer to turn the house upside down.lol
Thanks Gail for the great video! We love New Mexico! This home is the nicest so far! We love all HGTV's attention to all the details! Dream Homes get better every year! Thank you for helping us all live the dream!
I agree wholeheartedly!
I love the dream home it's BEAUTIFUL.
I want it !! I have to have it !!!!
Can't stop wishing and dreaming.
No don't stop wishing or dreaming, and keep praying, "someone's gotta to win.' But, whoever does sure will feel like a dream come true.
Wow! Two laundry rooms! This Dream Home has it all! That is just the coolest! I was looking at the floor plan and wondering about the "white" areas not named as a room. So the area closest to the Guest Room and Jack and Jill bathroom is the second laundry room. How about the other "white" areas are they something too? Are we instore for some more YUMMY surprises, Gail? ;>)
Isn't that floor plan great, Teresa? One of the white areas (between #16 and #17 on the floor plan) is a utility closet only accessible from the outside. Because of the radiant floor heat, they need room for that, and it probably has one of those great tankless water heaters, too. Are there other areas you are wondering about? Bloggers can be very helpful.
Yes, yes Wyo_Girl! The floor plan is amazing! I was so excited to see an adobe house in New Mexico first, but then a floor plan like this! Wowza! It certainly is a dream come true for some lucky winner! Thanks for the info too. Hey, where are you in Wyoming? My husband and I travel to Wyoming for his work alot. He owns the business (sales) and we get to travel all over Colorado, Wyoming, some Montana and NEW MEXICO! The Home Office in the Dream Home would be wonderful for him! ;>) I wasn't wondering about any other areas, but thanks!
Teresa, I'm on the western side, in Star Valley. It's about an hour south of Jackson Hole, on the Idaho border. Do you ever get this far west with your husband? I also used to live in Colorado — grew up in Monte Vista (not that far from the dream home) and worked in Littleton until I retired. Where are you located?
Hi,
My husband was just in Jackson 2 days ago. I didn't travel with him this time. That is a beautiful area! I do travel up that way with him some, but I'm a little afraid of 1-80 in the winter. (ha) I'm in Westminster, Colorado, close to Boulder.
See floor plan http://www.hgtvpro.com/hpro/photo_template/articl…
There are walk-in closets for both the kids room and guest room and one white space is the 2nd laundry room.
Hi TexasTwo Step,
I knew about the 2nd laundry room because of the recent video Gail posted. Thanks for the info on the closets though. Duhhhhhhhh! ;>) i should have thought of that! ha! Where are you from in Texas? I grew up in Houston! Alot of our family is still there.
Teresa,
I live in Canyon Lake, Tx between San Antonio and Austin. 1 Mile from Crystal clear Blue Canyon Lake and 1/4 mile from the Guadalupe River. Home of winding cypress tree lined river roads.
We love it. My family has lived here for 8 generations. Would'nt mind New Mexico either. How about you" Where do you live?
I haven't been out that way in years…would love to, pretty part of Texas. I sure wouldn't mind living in New Mexico either! ;>) I live in Westminster, Colorado near Boulder now. We have been here 35 years, but I still have my Texas accent…never wanted to lose it.
Teresa,
Know why Texans talk that sloww talk….It's toooo hot to talk fast. Just a little Texas humor, from one Texas gal to another Texas gal.
Ok ok…very funny Frankie, I do know how hot it is there in Texas though. Houston really is…it's that crazy humidity! It can be 100 degrees and 100% humidity down there. ;>)
Let it Snow! ??•*¨*•.¸¸♥ ¸¸.•*¨*•?? Let it Snow! ??•*¨*•.¸¸♥ ¸¸.•*¨*•?? Let it Snow!
For those of you who did get SNOW recently, please post your total amount.
For those of you, who didn’t, please don’t “rub it in” [too much].
We didn’t get any here in P-cola.
Virginia Beach 1- 1 1/2 inches. Much better than last weekend of 9 inches. However my daughter and friends are Snow boarding up in Northern VA this weekend so I hope they can get home today. Thanks for sharing the recipe it sounds delicious! Dreamin…
I wonder how many bloggers are without their ISP, or worse yet, power???
About 24" in Hershey PA! Roads were clear before it even stopped snowing, we've got awesome snow removal crews! Headed out shopping to shake off the cabin fever. We were stuck in the house for an entire day!
Wow, you've got outstanding road crews!
24" and the drifts are at least 30" on the Eastern Shore
I am sure that there will be snow in Miami… (I read an article yesterday in the "new times" and it mentioned those things that come with the Super Bowl…..) Crazy.. I didn't know that Florida accounts for half of the prescriptions in the US… for those who use it recreational… WOW.. Where did I move to?
28 inches! Another storm is heading our way and should arrive on either Tuesday or Wednesday…we'll see!
Living the Dream!
H_S: From Southeastern Michigan: All our usual snow seems to have passed us by and landed East. We've had 2 or 3 inches. Sounds crazy, but I think I miss it. oh well, there's March coming up. So sorry to hear about the mud slides in the LA area. Nature can be cruel sometimes. Keep safe, dear bloggers.
Katydid, I felt left out. Rain for some places could be just as bad as snow. Fortunately I live in an area where all this rain is releaving the drought we have been having for several years. Our water bills have been enormous! Thank you for your concern.
No snow here in Albuquerque !!! The forcast for the Dream House might get snow tonight (70%) & tomorrow (50%). Maybe we will be able to see pics of fresh snow on the Dream house. When Gail wakes up in the Master BR tomorrow morning, she can take pics for us. HA HA. We all know she is secretly staying there.
I hope the weather ain't bad when I go over there to walk thru the house. : ) Wednesday is suppose to get better & the tour starts on the Thurs. the 11th, so it should be nice when I go.
Hi H_S,
Snow for Wed. killed my server! I started going through withdrawal symptoms by 8 pm, but it was back up about an hour later.
Total count for the snow had to be a foot or two. The last time I went out to clear the walk it was around 10 and that was a foot alone!
Hope you continue NOT to get any snow your way!!!
My "server" was down for 15 hours on the 5th – 6th, and agian on the 8th. I called them yesterday, and they gave me credit for 5 days on all my services! Glad you're back up again.
We had snow for an hour, but it didn't stick!
H_S
What is the job market like for a couple of aspiring dentists who will soon become Mr. & Mrs.? Is there a need for dentists in the area?
OK, guys — I'm working so diligently to catch up on blogs it's cutting into my Lindor Truffles excursion time! When blogging starts to interfere with with my pursuit of Lindor Truffles I know I have a serious problem! I'm outta here for now — talk to you all again soon!
C&E… Funny.. It takes an entire day to catch up on these blogs… Hang in there and enjoy your chocolate!
Hi C&E
When you get your Truffles the sugar will renew your vigour. So, you'll be able to catch-up even fiestier and faster!!!
C&E, I understand what you mean. That's why I've decided to do the best I can, even if it means not catching up. Enjoy the present. Forget the past.
The second laundry room IS genious!! What a great thought and addition. I am curious if there are folding tables in either laundry room? If not, is there room to build one? My husband built one in our present LR and I love it!
My husband and I have had very few breaks in life, so this home would be such an exhale and "ahhhhhhhh" time for us. We have managed to "keep up with the Jones" because our taste is expensive, through replica DIY projects and a love for our home. We scrape by every month though, just barely dangling but with our heads high. No opportunity for college education for either of us, but the drive and positive attitude to accomplish great things has kept us afloat. We're both acheived success through the years simply due to work ethic and a "can do" attitude! It's powerful stuff!
(continued on next message…)
(continued from previous message…)
All in all, winning this house would move us closer to my mother (Sacramento, NM) and sisters (Albuquerque and Artesia) from whom I've been estranged since my teenage years. Visiting every few years and seeing the neices and nephews only periodically is awful. My husband's parents are deceased so this would give our children an opportunity to get close to their grandparents and me some time to mend, forgive and spend as much time with my Mom as we have left.
Plus, we are homebodies, so this house would become a home quickly. We LOVE spending time at home, maintaining, cleaning, cooking, gardening, and entertaining! I'm clicking my heels, have my fingers crossed and saying prayers. This whole experience is on my heart in a big way, though I am realistic too, and still have the beautiful life my husband and I continue to grow.
Anxious for the drawing so we can begin to settle in whichever direction is destined to be for us. Thank you for the opportunity~
Rhonda S: I pray that you will be reconciled with your sisters. Open your heart, forgive, and spend time with your Mom. Life is short, with or without a Dream Home. Good Luck.
You are very kind, Katy~ I thank you for your sentiments. The contest is optimal because it allows us to maintain our own family identity that we have worked so hard to establish, while presenting an amazing opportunity. Time is the real gift – I wish there were more of it. Thank you, again. We all have a story, and I'm sure you and all the others have just as much reason to pray about winning. Best of luck to you, too.
Your kind sentiments are appreciated, Katy ~ The Dream Home is not needed to make amends – I agree, but what is does do is present a unique set of circumstances, providing my husband ownership of the significant role in our lives that he so deeply deserves and allows us to maintain the family identity that we have worked hard to establish, while unfolding this amazing opportunity at the same time. It is truly unique and allows everyone to "win" : ) Regardless of how the contest goes, perhaps time is the real gift – I wish there were more of it. I'm sure you and all the others entering have unique and special reasons for wanting to win as well. Sincere thanks and best of luck to you, too.
Thanks for the info on the laundry room. While I don't have kids, I can just imagine what it will feel like to not have to lug laundry from one side of the house to another. Actually, I'm just loving not having to lug laundry upstairs/downstairs. I know everyone is excited. I lost my job and this would really be an amazing thing – to win my dream home in my dream state – NM.
I'm testing as I haven't seen the comments I've posted.

Question of the day for Super Sunday, February 7, 2010
What Super plans do you have for the Super Bowl???
My plan is:
• Turn my computer OFF
• Enjoy sipping some aged Single-Malt and Winter Lager
• Create a made-from-scratch Very Veggie Pizza with double Jalapenos
• Root for the Saints, but not get my hopes up
• Pay more attention to the Ads than the Game — I heard that a certain beer company (that starts with Mil…), is going to have a novel one
• Enjoy the Half Time show (Who dat?)
Whatever your plans are, I hope you enjoy yourselves! Regards, H_S.
Eat!
Drink!
Watch the game!
Enjoy the company of good friends.
As always…. vote on the favorite commercial! (We will keep our eye out for the Mil…. commercial)
Cram everyone into the family room for the halftime show.
Start all over again, eat, drink watch the game and enjoy our friends.
On the news today, they had an interview with a company rep. The idea is spotlight small businesses. The small companies are the ones that'll help get the economy going again.
Enjoy your plans!
Your day sounds great, H_S!!
Put the computer on sleep
Prepare the guacamole, salsa, Portuguese Soup, nachos (bean, cheese and salsa) All Organic
Remove the chilled Prosecco, white wine and a few beers
Root for H_S's team (plus a City that needs a win)
Visit friends a few floors down (my son's friend's home …. we will bounce back in forth)
Watch my favorite part …. The Commercials and Half Time Show
Get my son to bed to read his novel (needs good sleep for school and a soccer game tomorrow)
Take the dog down
Relax
You guys crack me up…I love reading your posts! I already printed off your hot sauce recipe, sounds like a keeper. I guess I'm more of a listener. Here in Idaho today absolutely beautiful blue sky"s, 20 degrees, stars at night as WyoGirl can verify. She's on one side of Jackson Hole/Grand Tetons and I'm on the side. I can't wait for the Superbowl, chips & dip, tacos, jalapeno smokies, Go Saints! Watch for the Career Builder commercials.
That sounds spectacular, Cowgirl Cool! As to "Hotness" — it varies from person to person. I happen to like it Very Hot!, This sauce is mild to me, but I like the flavor of Cayennes. I'll watch for the C….. B….. ad. Thanks for the heads up!
Thanks for the info on the little bottles. I'm sure my hub will break out the single malt the got for Christmas. I'll have a Margarita (or two) with my new bottle of Patron and some hot peppers. We have chips made from toasted lavash bread and home made cheese salsa dip. I'm not cooking, as we had a minor disaster on Wednesday. Water leak that ruined the cabinet containing the sink. A mess.
Gotta be The Big Easy. Just gotta be. All my Cajun buddies down there are in heaven….They actually proudly call themselves C–n A—s, but that would be insulting to say on line. You have a great day. Before you go to sleep, take a couple of ginger tablets and drink 2 glasses of water. I "garrontee" you won't feel so bad tomorrow!! Oh, why not ask everyone to tell their favorite commercial tomorrow?
Thanks, Debbie. That's a good suggestion for tomorrow's question — I'll do it!
DebbieFlorida, haven't heard C–n A—s in a long time! Itr'a like you're family.
Get your hopes up, H_S. The Saints are the SUPER BOWL CHAMPS!!!! Celebrate, celebrate, celebrate!!!
Still dreamin about the DH. Now it's better…. My daughters have no excuse with the laundry so close not to have it done. The Casita would be great for the guests. Privacy like at a hotel yet the comforts of home. My mother has been hospitalized for the past 8 months. She is finally at home and doing much better. I can dream of having us meet her there in early summer and having such a relaxing vacation. I will keep dreamin with all of you:)!
The dream keeps getting sweeter and sweeter!
Has anyone seen a good book (kind of a pictorial guide) of New Mexico or better yet Albuquerque and Santa Fe. I went to our local Barnes and Noble and found lots of the type of book I was looking for but the were all fro NY State as that's where I live. They have some on the web site but I thought someone might have one they could suggest. I just love the area.
Personally, I don't know of any. You might want to look at this website:
http://www.amazon.com/Pictorial-Guidebook-New-Mex…
Cathy,
Try going to http://www.newmexico.org you can order a free Vacation Guide. Or you can subscribe to New Mexico Magazine at http://www.nmmagazine.com throught this magazine you get pictures and information on hiking, fishing, golf, pueblo dances, ancient cultures, balloon festivals, folk art markets, southwest cuisine, historic landmarks and more more more…. have fun
Good suggestion, Texas TwoStep!
Try the NM Tourism Office or ALB and Santa Fe Chamber of Commerce. They will even send you a relocation guide. They can also refer you to any "coffee table" pic books.
where is the disney clubhouse?
Do you mean the childrens playhouse? Its in the back of the house by the grill area.
Please click the link below. It should help answer your question.
http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/dream_home/player/0,1000…
someone: I think it's right where the "water feature" was supposed to be. After I was told there would be a "water feature" by HGTV, there was none. Don't you think I deserve an explanation? I'm a nice lady. Maybe I should drop a note to Super Fan Gail.
This house so beautiful!! it will make any family truely happy!! I know it is the break I need but I will be happy for anyone who wins! we have all had ups and downs, some worse than others ups and downs in life is what makes us all strong!! I will not post how bad my family needs this, pitty from others will do no good, blogs shouldnt be about feel bad for me please, and about family trama, we all have it!! I wish everyone the bests of luck and I am so exicited it is getting so close!!
Hello all,
When scanning around on this site, I thought I saw a "play house," but I can't find it on any of the video tours. I clicked all the "dots" on the map, but no play house. Was I dreaming?
Click the link below, I think it will help answer your question
http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/dream_home/player/0,1000…
Its in the back of the house by the grill area, looks rather plain on the outside.
It doesn't matter what part of the house you are talking about Mary, you never fail to get us all excited about it. Thanks for all your hard work.
Robin, you are so right!! Don't you think that our Super Fan, Gail always fills us in with such excitement and that Mary does a great job getting it to us!! They do a lot of hard work that looks so easy to us…. its nice to see another bloggie appreciating it!! Thank you!
Yep, Mary and Gail can make me look forward to cleaning toilets!
Ha ha ha ~ that is so wrong, but on thinking about it…
If I win and am living alone then I guess there will be no doubt that I will have to!
One more thought: I consider myself a "country artist," so I'm looking at all this space for a spot to work where I can close the door and hide the huge mess I always make. Also, oil paint funes are not the best aroma–need ventilation. I wonder if there are windows in one of the garages that can be opened. I would also guess there are plenty out there who would love to have space for a heated work shop. My bet is I could work something out!
I don't know how you would be able to open and close them, if they could. But, you could leave the doors open for ventilation….. You wouldn't have to open them all the way.. Isn't it awesome that the doors are glass?? What great lighting there will be!!
There a type of garage door screen that opens and closes over the opened space from the side. That would keep the critters out and provide ventilation. You could turn the play house into a studio. I'm dreaming of a studio myself. I can't do oils here in Fl because of the vent problem. But there are some new "oils" on the market that don't have the toxicity and clean up with water. Also eco and health friendly terps. Check out Pearl or Cheap Joe's on line.
This year's Dream Home is in a perfect location! I love the media room along with the home office which is perfect for someone like myself who works from home and for writing my book! My family including my mother would love to come for an extended stay!!
The second laundry room is a great idea!
Penny Sparks
Yep… I am thinking that my Mom wouldn't want to leave! (though, that would be okay with me and my son…. he would love having his granny!!!) What a great place to write a book!! Good Luck to you!!
Happy Super Bowl Day, everyone! I think my cocktail of choice today will be a margarita, in honor of the HGTV Dream Home! Go Saints!
Hi Neighbor, we're going for tacos today also in honor of DH. I'm lovin' the blue sky's we've had this weekend. And yes! Go Saints! I'm jealous you're retired as I'm already dreading thinking about work tomorrow, I must be getting tooo old. HaHaHa
Wyo_Girl…. You, too!! Oh a Margarita sounds great!
Watermelon sounds so good…. Or and melon…….
5 cups cubed watermelon or other melon, seeds removed
1/2 cup simple syrup (equal amounts sugar and water, heated until sugar melts), cooled
1/2 cup fresh lime juice
2 cups silver tequila
4 ounces orange liqueur
2 ounces melon liqueur
Watermelon/melon wedges, for garnish
Directions
Place watermelon/melon in a food processor and process until smooth. Pour the pureed watermelon/melon into 2 empty ice cube trays and freeze until firm, at least 4 hours. Place 8 martini glasses in the freezer to chill.
Place 2 cups of the watermelon/melon ice cubes and the remaining ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into 4 glasses and repeat with the remaining ingredients. Garnish each glass with a watermelon wedge.
Yummmm! I am saving this recipe!
Haha, the laundry room might be the coolest place for a "FEMALE"… lol
The coolest place for a "MALE", would be the Home Theater room or the 3 Car Garage! You know how us guy's like our toy's… If I could pick my favorite of the two, it would be the Home Theater for now…
Maybe I'll let know you what my favorite room in the house is tomorrow… =)
Yep… I knew that is how you men think…hehehe!! My husband would love the garage and the office!! He loves his computer, cameras, etc!! I think the laundry room is a convenience, but I am sure that it would not be my favorite… I love the kitchen and the Master suite! Take care!!
Luckily, no snow here, and the rain has finally cleared out to a sunny if slightly cool day in the mid-50's.
Not sure yet what the day will bring—just a quiet Sunday I bet. Anything going on today in the world of interest?
Coop, I have some inside info for you. You know how much you love the Pirates of the Caribbean.. and do you remember who my son loves?? Well that Yacht is here and my son decides to walk the dog more often than usual…. Of course, he is dreaming and this is one of his biggest dreams to meet him!!! Is this interesting for you??? hehehehe
Coop: WHO are you kidding? Close game, almost over. Bet you are glued to your TV with all your buddies.
May the best team win.
Attention All Super Bowl fans: I've never seen more riding on a game—paying tribute to those in the recent earthquake (Colts) or those whose lives were forever changed by the hurricane (Saints). This will be a high scoring game because of all the energy. Let's say maybe a hundred points total for the two teams. It's not a game between the Peyton's, the fans, the touching individual stories, or the hopes of many. This game will boil down to COACHING, not who wants it most. Therefore, I'm taking experienced coaches because the teams are about even.
Anyone else want to thrown down the gauntlet before the game starts?
Hi Lessie, here in Idaho at our house it's all about the Saints. While we love the Colts and Peyton, I guess we are rooting for the so called underdogs and think they have the heart and drive to want it more…… whew, ok, now that I made that commitment. I need to eat some chocolate. Enjoy the game.
Cowgirl Cool, that's why I'm neutral. I'll support a win by either team, even with the odds in favor of the experienced coaching staff! This is going to be a great Super Bowl and I'm in it for the fun, not the team.
Lessie… I couldn't even try. I am not a football fan. So we will be enjoying the company that comes along with the Super Bowl, the Commercials and the Half Time Show!! I am cheering for the Saints, only because I feel they need a win to spotlight their wonderful city!!! I hope that you day is great!!
Renee loves and lives Green, for a person who is enjoying as many of the side benefits as possible stemming from this Super Bowl, sure seems like you're a football fan to me. Or is it you're a "fringe football fan" who only enjoys all that comes with the game? If that's the case, you may as well consider yourself a football fan. How do you think the rest of us were drawn into this game? From the side stuff, not the actual game!!!
Look at all the people who enjoy Thanksgiving but don't like turkey. They still enjoy Thanksgiving, right?
I have to go with the Colts Lessie. My husband has the Saints. We pick opposite teams every year just to keep it interesting. So if by chance the Saints win you will know I have had to endure alot of pressure and harassment. Of course, if the Colts win it goes without saying who is in it up to their chin !!!!!!! Have a blast everyone !!!!
Makes for an interesting evening, Barbara. Like how both teams are covered by your family, now that's good!
Thanks Lessie. Well we know what happened now but I can't complain. Since the Colts led for most of the game I only had to endure about 10-15 minutes of harassment from my husband. We had a really good time !!!!
Because of some Louisiana roots, my family is too excited about the Who Dat? win! Don't know when the relatives in LA will stop partying, but it's all good. Just glad I'm not there! So 10-15 minutes of harassment is no big deal, especially since the majority of the game was in your favor. From what I hear, EVERYONE had a great time. Even Petyon Manning will enjoy the good times celebrated by his hometown. Finally Nawlins has victory!
I must have a fever!!! A New Mexico fever***
I woke up early this morning around 2am dreaming of walking in the entry hall with my family in the Dream Home 2010.
I know someone will be fortunate to win this lovely home and I wish them only the best!My children even asked me this morning”
Did you enter the contest MOM=for the Dream Home 2010??” I said yes= as I do each and every day!?!
There are a few that have had similar dreams. I remember a few weeks ago it happen to Heritage_Seeker (a.k.a. H_S) ….. And my son asks me … "Mom, did you enter today?" and "what is everyone saying on the blogs?"….. Isn't it wonderful? That is part of the fun, enjoying the dream!!! Much luck to you!!
Hey reneelovesgreen, I was looking for some of the older bloggers on the freebie Friday site and just wasn't very many, …….I was wondering if you saw my post on page 39 , about my "Snookie Pillow " I started making for my older cats, just thought about it , and thought it would be a terrific way to keep the plastic grocery bags out of the land fill , for a while any way….. I was thinking too, Wouldn 't making a Snookie Pillow be a nice project to do with Kids, to tell them about helping the earth , and then they would have a cute pillow to play with in their room, that they made. Something so easy to do with them.
I have to look that one up!! I didn't see it…. What a great idea and helping the environment…. Those cats are very lucky and what a good person you are!!
Public Confession to Adisneyfamily: I'm sure you've heard the saying, 'the road to hell is paved with good intentions." The Lindor Truffles I bought to cheer you up, cheered me up after shoveling yesterday. Hopefully, I'll be able to replace those Truffles before we meet. Unfulfilled good intentions—W E A K!!!
How lucky adisneyfamily is?? I would love to meet you as well and I would bring you the Lindor Truffles as I am not that big of a sweet fan. My vice is frozen coconut bars…. (the all natural ones without fructose).. My son and I can eat one a day every day of the week!!
When we meet, Renee loves and lives Green, I'll know what to get you. I'll get enough so I can taste them also.
You are so sweet!!!
Hi Lessie,
So you are a Chocolate Lover, like me? I made a Chocolate Fantasy Cheesecake for our Super Bowl party yesterday. I wish you had a piece of it, girl! It had 10 oz. of semi-sweet chocolate in it, 3 oz. German sweet chocolate, Creme de Cacao, and a Oreo cookie crust! Then I put Strawberries and Lindor Truffles on the top drizzled with milk/dark/white chocolate (lightly ;>) on top. It was killer!
Teresa, now that's scandalously decadent!!! Can you please prepare your Chocolate Fantasy Cheescake for the blogger party? Please and pretty please because everyone needs a smidgeon of scandalous decadence in their life.
There is a Blogger partY? Really or are you just pulling my leg? This Cheesecake…you would only need a smidgeon…whewwwwwwwwwww so chocolatey that you taste the chocolate 30 minutes still on your tongue.
Yes, if a blogger wins, there will be a blogger party!!! In fact, we will have a Tina Turner/'Retha Review, along with some Marvin Gaye, smoothe jazz and other music. It will definitely be a fun party! So a smidgeon of your cheesecake will be fine. Of course you've seen the Margarita recipes we're have, along with some other beverages. I think you'll enjoy yourself.
As soon as we know a blogger wins, Renee loves and lives Green will begin plans for the 'bloggie bash."
And Oh??? As far as the Superbowl 2010 is concerned…The more competetive team will
win!!! The team that wants to win=
WILL WIN!!!
***Football Rules*** Yeah!!!
Now that's what I call uncommitted, but I understand because it doesn't matter who wins.
Hey Gail,
Just wanted to comment about how all the bloggers are calling Sandia Park "the desert". It's too funny because I guess we are really flatlanders down here in Roswell, NM (yes, where the aliens landed or crashed!) because it is the mountains to us this is the desert. It is so beautiful up there. My husband and I were both born and raised in northern NM and our families go way back to the mining days. I can't think of a more beautiful place in the world or somewhere I'd rather be. By the way you did a great job and we can tell that you truely loved every step of the way! Bravo GAIL!
My Family have all lived in the Florida Panhandle all our lives, we have always dreamed of going out west. It sounds heavenly, aliens & all!! I tour the house every day, just dreaming about what it would be like. May dreams come true!!!
So many decisions: what team to bet on—Saints or Colts? What to drink—beer or margaritas? What to munch on—chips and dip or Lindor Truffles and mixed nuts?
Time to sign off and put this show on the road!
Hope that you don't mix them all together… hehehe …. Have a great one, my friend!!
Enjoy your day, Coop. It's all good to me!!!
Well I only entered once I figure if I win it it will truly be a gift from god. My husdand and I lost our home back in may and have been staying with my mother in a 14 by 70 mobile home it has two bathrooms but only one works. we have no privacy at all so that is also a strain on us. would love to win the dreamhome and start over well good luck everyone and God Bless Sandra / NC
I believe last years' Dream Home winner only entered 5 times. I wish everyone could win…..
Yes, Myrna. She mentioned that she entered 3-5 times. It is a game of luck. Sandra, you still have time to enter until 2/19…. if you get the chance. Good Luck!
Two laundry rooms! What a dream! My Grandkids can all do laundry, one thing that Grandma has taught them. As for the folks that say they would sell this house…NEVER !!!! I would relocate from Florida to New Mexico in half a heartbeat !!! I would donate my 12 year old double-wide modular to a good family; have a humongous yard-sale; rent a U-Haul; & GO WEST!!!!!!!!!
Yes, I agree! My family will do all we can to be able to KEEP this wonderful home if we win it!! It certainly will be a dream come true to anyone!!
gremol, I wish you much luck!!! Good job on teaching the Grandkids to get that laundry done… It does seem a shame that someone would have to sell the DH, but I believe that they are just being realistic. You need a job to pay for water, taxes, HOA fees, etc. or enough money in the bank, investment, etc… If I won, I wouldn't make the decision for a while… I would research the area, while living there (even if just for an extended vacation) and work with the professionals to works out my options!
GO SAINTS! WHO DAT SAY THEY GONNA BEAT THEM SAINTS?! P.S. I hope I win the 2010 Dream Home! I love all the Bloggies! Beverly
Back at you!!!
I am from La. and I can tell you it is crazy here. Parties going on everywhere. I love the dream home! Good luck to everyone.
The extra laundry room is a great place for the college student to do her thing. Other people might be able to get their laundry done.
I too have been watching the dream homes since they started, and thow I loved the other houses I really never wanted any of them or cared for the decorating. My husband and I always said we would get rid of all the furniture. This house is truly a master piece of serenity. We love the lines of the house, the flow of the floor plan, the tile work sends chivers down my spine and other places I won't mention here. The colors are so serene, and we love the art work.We both love the location also .Not easy to find a house and furnishings we both love. It took us two years to find a couch we both liked. You have certainly hit a home run with this one.Now if I can just stop drooling on my computer.Even if I don't win thanks for the great ride.
After all of the difficulties in our lives and my grandsons – this room is just another reason why this house will be perfect for my family! I've never thought about living in this part of the country but there is something about this house that touches me and I have every hope that this house will bring my family together. I'm very excited about the prospects this home could bring for us! I've officially claimed this house – so watch out everyone else!
Too cute, Lessie.. I must be a Fringe Football fan!! That's fine with me. I love enjoying company and watching my big boy (have to stop calling him my little boy) cheer and enjoy the excitement. My husband is out of town so, it is nice that Luca can bond with the other guys…. Love your analogy! I guess my main point is that I don't have a team, a player nor understand the plays so, I put myself into it by enjoying all of the other "activities"… I am the "one-hit wonder".. only there for the Super Bowl.. hehehe … Lessie, Have a great day!!!!
That's exactly what I mean Renee loves and lives Green! You're just like millions of fringe football fans, in it for the entertainment only! That's what I am too.
