I've never blogged a thing in my life, but when I saw the Dream Home for this year, I just had to write. As a current resident of South Jersey, but a native of Albuquerque (40+ years), my heart clenches when I see not only the great Southwest style of the home, but the beautiful, stark vistas. There is something about the barren landscape that makes me yearn for home. Whoever wins this home will be changed forever by the Land of Enchantment.
It looks like the only entrance to the second laundry is from an outside door. Does anyone know if this is correct? Or is there an inside door entry and where is it? Thanks for any reply–
http://www.hgtvpro.com/hpro/photo_template/articl…
check out the floor plan – kids bedroom and guest room have a walk in closet and the white space next to the guest room closet is the 2nd laundry room. you enter it from the hall on the right side of the media room. The outside door outside of the master bedroom laundry area is (I think renni tankless hotwater heater and boiler for the master bath, jack and jill bath and 2 laundry areas.
I hope that helps.
You are correct TexasTwoStep … that outside door is for a utility closet… The master suite's laundry room is next to the Sunrise room (entry from)… The second laundry room is next to the guest room….
Laura is right, according to the floorplan, there is an entrance from outside the house into a room. Could this be for outside storage? Gardening supplies, etc.? Certainly not a lawnmower (hehehe). I'm also curious about this room. Or, wait, is it the playhouse?
The idea of two washer and driers are wonderful. We have a four level house and the laundry room is in the basement. Way too many stairs! But these are not laundry rooms. No folding areas, no hanging spots for clothes coming out of the dryer. And where would you set up an ironing board. Not that I iron.
Not trying to be negative. I love the DH like everyone else.
Yes, I agree, will post later. No folding table in laundry room/s a big draw back. Watching Super Bowl.
All I can say is when I heard about this dream home in New Mexico and saw where it is located I became so excited just thinking that this might be the thing that could finally bring my family (husband and children) closer to my family there in northern NM where I grew up. Everyday when I log on to enter and see this beautiful home it brings tears to my eyes, I've never wanted anything more than this. My children can finally grow up amongst their cousins and grow up in this beautiful place with such rich culture. The cash giveaway is incredible and I could finally open my own salon. What more can I say but this would truly make our dreams come true.
This home is beautiful..I don't have any luck so I would never win this house, but me and my little boys love watching the shows….maybe someday they all can build me a dreamhouse…good luck everyone.
Lessie you at too funny! I totally understand about the Lindor Truffles disappearing. I went and bought some today to savor during the Super Bowl. Like you I am uncommitted to either team however I am looking forward to the commercials and the half time show. Enjoy the game everyone and keep dreamin the dream.
However the Super Bowl goes, I hope that the Dream Team decides to drop by for a visit—the HGTV Dream Home Team that is! Four weeks from today would be just perfect…I'll plan on being home all day.
I'm ready for my close-up, HGTV!
Oh Yes Coop it would be wonderful for one of the bloggers to win and especially one that has dedicted so much time and enthusiam to this website. Thank you and good luck!
Oh yes, I hope you win. I'm ready for your "close-up" too. Sorta like, "you show me yours, I'll show you mine". You take the Dream, I'll take the Green.
Good one, Katydid!!!
Who do you think will answer the door, you or Show Me, hehehe……
Yes ~ Good Luck Coop.
As a returning blogger, we are all rooting for you too!
I was wondering if I can enter online everyday (and) mail in an entry form by hand printing your name, complete address, phone number (area code included) and date of birth either on a postcard or on a separate piece of paper no larger than 8½ x 11 inches, and mailing the postcard or paper in an envelope with proper postage affixed to: HGTV Dream Home Giveaway, PO Box 52628, Knoxville, TN 37950 postmarked by February 19, 2010 and received by February 26, 2010. Limit one (1) entry per stamped outer envelope. Can I enter online and by USPS mail? Or can I only register online or mail in entry form? I don't want to break any of the rules.
Please respond.
Thank you sincerely,
John
You can do both — only one online entry per day, but as many snail mail ones as you are willing to hand print!

La célébration à la Nouvelle-Orléans, durera jusqu'au mardi gras !
I just wanted to thank HGTV for building such a beautiful home to give to some VERY LUCKY winner. I can't stop looking at the pictures. This must be heaven on earth, my Dream Home
Hey reneelovesgreen, Ooops , I did it again and posted wrong , I meant to post for you , top of this page , under Jane and michael, you replied first , then I did, really sorry I keep doing that. It's not that important ,I just wanted to get your opinion about my little project I 've been doing , It's not something that appeals to everybody, but I 've been a rescuing cats for about 15 years, helping the ones that are hurt or lost and finding homes for them, I started doing the Pillows for my cats that are older, but this Pillow is great because it cost so little to make , and is good for the strays too.and people lol
Ali B…. no problem.. What a wonderful thing you do!!! Those cats are definitely lucky to have you!! Take care!!!
Success! My husband and I made our annual trek into Atlanta to the Lindt Chocolatiers shop to stock up. Not only did we find everything we wanted, not only did they have some of our favorites on sale, but today they had everything but Valentine's Day chocolates for HALF PRICE! (I just had to shout that!) We made out like bandits — we are set for the next year! I had two Fiorettos and was able to settle in and finish reading all the new posts. Enjoy your Super Bowl game, everyone, and may the best team (yours!) win! Just be ready to blog afresh tomorrow!
C&E I bought the new Fioretto's today to eat during the game and they are delicious! Go Lindt for making such delicious chocolates:)
I agree that the Fiorettos are good, but my heart still belongs to the hazelnut Lindor Truffles!
You hit the jackpot C&E!!! That's better than the Super Bowl!!!
You've got that right (although I have to admit I watched the Puppy bowl rather than the Super Bowl)! Congratulations to all Saints fans, though — your team is Number One!
Lindt Chocolates for HALF PRICE? Should have bought a truckload—coulda' sold 'em online for twice the price! Think of all the bloggers that would have sent in orders! Talk about Candy Bowl champions, you ARE every chocolate lover's MVP.
Believe me, Coop, if we'd had access to a truck our house would be overflowing with Lindt Chocolates right now! I even convinced another patron in the store he needed to buy more at that price — am I an excellent unpaid salesperson or what?!?
Winning this home would be the best birthday present ever… I love, love, love it. What a nice change from Michigan this would be… I'd love to see my beautiful hubby's face hearing that we won. We so deserve after the past few years. Beautiful home, 3 acres, awesome terrain, New Mexico, can't beat it. Good luck everyone!
[a moms dream, 2 laundry rooms and an awesome kitchen, just keeps getting better.]
Go SAINTS …. YAHOOOO! 74-yard interception … Take it home guys!
Congratulations Saints Fans!!! 31-17
Exciting second quarter!!
Now Back to Dreamin about th e Dream Home. Only 11 more days!
So happy for New Orleans! Congratulations Saints Fans!
Loved this one…

Living the Dream!
Agree with you Lynn. This was a great game. When it started, I thought it would be a Colts blow out, so I started doing something else while listening to the game. Came back for half-time and the fourth quarter. Didn't enjoy the commercials as much as I thought.
Ditto Lessie about the commercials……….
My favorite commercials were the Doritos ones. The little kid challenging the guy dating his mom and eating his doritos……classic!
"When the Saints, go marching in" and they did. Great game. I was pulling for the Colts, "Hold your horses, hold your horses", but they didn't let them loose when they should have. " Who stole my heart away", WHO did a great job at half time, but wasn't the lighting spectacular? I remember doing follow spots
Congrats to all you Saints fans.
Along with everyone else, CONGRATULATIONS SAINTS FANS!!! This will be a long Mardi Gras season for you!
Whoa, way to go SAINTS! As a team and for the city of Naw lins, they did good.
What d'ya think, H_S—wasn't it about time for the Saints to go marchin' in?!
Congrats to all the folks in New Orleans; the lights are back on, heads held high, and each and every one has a right to be darned proud of coming back to beat the odds.
Last night, I followed my plan. A little scotch, drink a beer, a little more scotch, another beer, make my pizza, have a beer — well you get the picture. Anyway, after the half-time show, I was feeling a little…..ummm….lethargic, yeah, that’s it!
Then, the 2nd half kick-off – OMG – brought me right up out of my chair, fully energized again! Leave it to coach Sean Peyton, he’s got “big ones!”
Having been hit, myself, by hurricane Ivan in 2004; I had felt the utmost sorrow for those affected by Katrina in 2005! In the years I’ve lived in P-cola, I really didn’t have a favorite football team. Not only is New Orleans the nearest to me (200 mi.), but they also “had my heart!”
Today, I share their pride and happiness; and your words are special to me as well!
Hi All,
I gotta say I feel that coming on HGTV and reviewing these comments and looking at the pics and videos is a daily basis for me. I can't stop dreaming about this house. I think about it all day long every day. The very first time I looked at this house the first place I clicked on was the Kids Bedroom, when I saw that is was mostly Toy Story tears came to my eyes and I got goose bumps. My son is obsessed with Toy Story. The reason why tears came to my eyes is because I have never hoped or wished for anything more than this extraordinary home. In the past (6) months I was laid off at work, my house was foreclosed, my son's father and I separated and my tranmission went in my car. Like they say when it rains it pours. Words can't even describe the way I would feel if my son and I won this house. I would love to start a new life and have my son grow up there and start school there once he turns five, he is only 2. Good luck to all.
High everyone ! I used the time during the game to catch up on blogging sites. I have a few questions.
I listened to gail talk about two laundry rooms, but when I looked at the floorplan I believe I saw another laundry in the Casita – could that be? Three laundry places. Has anyone else seen three?
Can anyone figure out if a 10.6' X 30' RV fit in the garage? I don't know the dementions, but the inside of the family room should be 14' so maybe the garage is too. I thought I read or heard that RV s would not be allowed to be parked outside the home.
I cannot watch the videos every day any more, it is just too hard for me now. I even smile when I see a commercial about any of the sponsors but my favorite is the vacuum cleaner animal hair taker off. The Wellborn cabnets in the kitchen are my second fave.
Congratulations to the Saints fans !!!
There is no third laundry room in the Casita. Sadly there are no dimensions on any of the plans, so can't say if your RV would fit in the garage, but yes you are correct it cannot be parked outside.
Hi David,
I had wanted to be able to plug it in and use it as another Casita when all the kids come this summer. I guess that I will start sewing something that looks like a Casita and just throw it over the RV so no one will know what I'm doing. I do think ther is a place not too far where We can store it.
Sandy, the biggest worry about the RV is that the garage door is only standard height. I don't think an RV would fit unless construction was done and a taller garage door was installed.
Sandy….be careful!! There are quite a few of us with this addiction…… The Garage is tall.. but the doors would not allow a RV…. Maybe a near by storage for the RV…… Good Luck!
Renee, the addiction of RVing? Besides other places, yearly we go from LA, CA.,to Atlanta, to Denver and home again, with lots of stops. Its a must not an addiction.
I notice that the blogs are not in order for what ever reason, but since I am talking to you I want you to know that I don't consider you GREEN. You know way too much information so I am green with envy. You spread your knowledge so willingly and so sweetly and are cute to boot.Thank you for all that you do and say and for helping to keep so many of us excited! Sandy
Who Dat?? Nobody! Dat’s Who!!!
La célébration à la Nouvelle-Orléans, durera jusqu'au mardi gras !
{The celebration in New Orleans, will last until Mardi Gras!}
You're right about that, H_S! Personally, that victory celebration may last for a year! I know it will for all those in my family!!!
News Flash: Dream Home has Evaporative Cooling System!
For a video about it by Jack Thomasson, and other interesting video topics, use the following link:
http://www.hgtvpro.com/hpro/pac_ctnt/text/0,2595,…
Regards, H_S.
In the first video you can catch a glimpse of the whole home audio system. And I got its name. Here is a link with info about it.
http://www.homeauto.com/products/wholehomeaudio/w…
also could be the home automation system too.

Great link, David. Thanks!
Yep…. I saw that the other day. Thanks for posting and hold it close as I am sure the question is coming up again…. and again….. hehehe….
I have always been sure there was a cooling system although I couldn't prove it. They have left no stone unturned with house. Thanks for the info. Can hardly wait to tell my husband as he has been hearing about this for weeks.
Ask him to watch the video, Barbara. I think it's the 7 th one over in the series.
Yes H_S, Coop posted that link earlier and Katydid or C&E commented about it earlier.
I don't know how I could have missed Coop's post. I will have to look for it and apologize! Do you, perchance, recall where it might be? Thanks for letting me know, Lessie.
Go to page 4 under this blog. The orginial comment was by Carol (has 12 replies). Donna from Chicago (not Katydid or C&E, sorry Donna) made the comment about the evaporative cooling system. Coop responded to Donna and gave the link.
Hope this helps. H_S, you're such a stand-up guy. I don't think Coop or Donna from Chicago would accuse you of taking credit for their work. Are you related to George Washington?
Lessie, Thank you for the follow-up! I went back and posted my apologies to Donna and Coop.
Further, I cannot tell a lie – I am NOT related to George Washington. (hahaha)
Question of the day for Monday, February 08, 2010.
Now that the Super Bowl is over, the question is:
What was your FAVORITE commercial??? (watch out for the Principal, though!)
If you need to look at some of them again, YOU CAN at the following link:
http://www.cbssports.com/video/player/superbowlco…
Regards, H_S.
The babies cheating….hehehehe…
The "inside voice" dog collar ad was great! You're right, Renee — Pay Back!
I liked the Letterman-Leno one, and I was amused by the sock monkey getting a tattoo!
I had a "sock monkey" on the bow of my sailboat when I went to a "Christmas in July" gathering, but I never thought about a tatoo for it!!
From the limited few I saw on Yahoo this morning, I really liked the Snickers ad with Betty White (why do I always seem to choose everything chocolate-related?).
That was the first one I put on my list!
I liked that one too C&E.
By far it is the little boy taking care of his Mama's date. Please don't eat his doritos and Do not mess with his Mama!!!!
I nicknamed that one the "Booty Police!"
cja, that was my favorite commercial too.
I just realized that I failed to mention that DebbieFlorida suggested this QOD.
THANKS Debbie Florida!!!
H_S, did you notice the "See videos by: Quarters or Advertisers?" Maybe you can view your favorite video that way. Now I know you have already checked that out since you have a detailed mind, so please take this as an FYI.
Lessie, thank you for pointing that out. I looked at all 4 Quarters, all Advertisers, and the FLO website — no luck. Perhaps the advertisers who DO have their ads on the CBS site, need to pay to do so. Oh well, I was hoping that others would be able to see it as well.
Again, thanks! Regards. H_S.
p.s. Do you like my new avatar? It's a picture of my wife & I, taken in Thailand, back in 19……!
I like your new avatar, H_S! The year is not important as long as it's you. It's also a sweet salute to your first bride. You must have some great memories!
Sorry you weren't able to find your favorite commercial. Maybe you'll accidentally find it and be surprised….al least that's what I hope happens.
I love the "Asteroid" ad. Gotta love that cold Bud Light!
Bud Light is my "usual" beer. They usually have great ads!
Being the mother of five children, I can't resist the talking babies!
Living the Dream!
P.S. My second choice is the Green Police.
Having never had children, I can't relate the way you do. The Green Police was excellent! I agree.
I can't believe there is only 11 days left until someone finds out they have won!!! I sure hope it's me and my family. We are all so excited to see what NM has to offer. It would be so great, being as though my husband is looking for a new job!!!! How great would it be to be in a new city with a new job!!! Best of luck to everyone!!!!
cja, the winner of the 2010 Dream Home won't know until sometime in March. Hope this doesn't spoil your dreams.
Hi, cja. I said something like that, too, but was corrected when a blogger replied that entries are no longer accepted after Feb. 19th. We actually find out who wins on March 14Th. I wish everyone the best of luck!
Wow! That is cool Gail. The more I see of this home, the more it is gaining on what was my favorite in Lake Lure! Fantastic Dream Home. Great job everyone.
I agree, Joyce. Until I saw this Dream Home, DH 2006 in Lake Lure was my favorite too!
No, it's more so intriguing being you, because it must have been taken by someone else with a water camera underneath you. I've not experienced scuba diving, yet. Sorry forlate post, "Super Bowl night." Have a pleasant day!
Oh My Gosh, you mean I don't have to drag laundry everywhere?!?! That is the best idea yet! I love those designers who realized that I don't need my own unmentionables being drug all through a house or accidentally falling out the of basket to my room while company is there. THANX DREAM HOME TEAM!
I love everything about the new Dream Home 2010. As a grandmother raising a 7 year old granddaughter, I can see us living in this home. Perfect place to be. New Mexico is a wonderful place to live and being near Albuquerque and Santa Fe is even better.
Enjoyed your little fun, David. Brought a smile to my face as I stare at the deckful of snow I probably won't get around to shoveling.
Lessie , I don't know if you have ever killed a snake with a hoe before, but, just remember , be sure it has been sharpened very very good , they are one tough skinned foe to reckon with, that is poisonous ones , the oak , chicken or other non poisonous ones not so forceful or brave. Just Please ,don't try to be to Brave yourself if you are alone and encounter one
Yeah, with the help of my brothers. I sure wouldn't try to kill one alone. I'm outta there if I see it, especially if I see it before it sees me.
We would pick blackberries during the summer and would ocassionaly run across snakes, but I was in a group and didn't care. The only time I ran was when we heard a rattle. We all ran.
A new location after being recently widowed plus damage to the place I am in now from a fire, sounds wonderful. My children and grandchildren would benefit from the cash too…. The place is perfect, but it needs a fence to contain my four-legged fur children.
Twinkle Toes
Is there any such thing as too excited?
No, I must answer, as long as the nails are not bitted.
Oh, the hours spent clicking and touring and dreaming!
My rumpus is now in the theatre chair, movie streaming.
Two laundry rooms! Pinch me awake!
It's to the laundry mat I must now gather and take.
Toasty twinkle toes on the floor and before the fire,
Gosh! I could run from room to room and nary tire!
Feeling fantabulous after kitchen or patio fare,
The writing could continue in the sunset or office lair.
Was The Lord, amazingly, to hand me the keys,
The dogs would never again have to want, 'could you take me out, please.'
Here, I will say, HGTV, be blessed for the work that you do,
But, if I win, surely, I will be saying it in person soon!
Wow! Thats great Dawn! Thanks for sharing
Welcome, welcome! Thanks, WHinFL, for the thumbs up!
Hi Dawn
That was very light and uplifting. Like WHinFL said, thank you for sharing.
Glad you liked it Luv2C. You are welcome!
Dear Gail, I have never blogged, but I just had to tell you that this is one of the best home giveaways HGTV has had yet. i been reading alot of the blogs before mine, but haven't noticed the question I have. I've seen lots blogs about the hot water heaters, which sound great by the way, but my question is; Is there a well or is the water supplied to the house by way of pipes from the nearest water supplier? I apologize if I have missed this question and answer somewhere already. I hope I win this house, I haven't ever won anything like this, and would love to move closer to family in Arizona.
There is a community well. The maintenance of the well is part of the HOA Fees.
thanks for the quick reply. is there a place on the website that mentions all that good stuff?
I want to tell you this Dream Home is beautiful it would be a dream come true for me and my family.
What a beautiful house!! It would be awesome to live there while raising our family!!! Freedom from living in an apartment to a beautiful house, what a blessing!!!
I heard that the water in NM is quite hard. Is there a water softener put into this home?
Not only hard, but I understand that the property developer doesn't guarantee how long the well water (each well serves five lots) will even last. No water? There goes your home value.
Hate to throw cold water but in my enthusiasm I did a little homework on New Mexico. Among other things New Mexico boasts the highest violent crime rate in nation through 2007! Additionally, it appears to be the "dumbest" state of the fifty. So, if you're enthused about raising your kids out there think again!
It is an absolutely beautiful home and locale but bring your gun(s)
I hate to break it to you David but were living in 2010! not 2007! As for you little homework maybe you should do some more research!
As for Living in New Mexico were considered to be one of the top 10 places to Live, and as for the Guns yes by all means bring them! we usually use them for Hunting Animals like Deer, Elk, Antelope, Mountain Lions, Bears, etc…
Wow, what a truely unbelievable Dream Home, I can feel the energy through the posts. I know there must be millions of fingers toes and eyes crossed in anticipation. Entering daily hoping to win praying it is their lucky day…. What an amazing job you have!!!!! Like the rest of those that enter I just know Im gonna win. I have even planned the move in my head over and over again and its been so much fun to do. (Come on you know you have too!!!) I love this. I love Dreaming about it. so even if I dont win I have new inspirations for my home and I have learned a lot about NM a place that I hadn't given a second thought to. Good Luck guys!!!
I love this house! I would love to live in New Mexico. Property taxes are extremely high at $27 to $30 per
$1,000 accessed value but to me it would be worth it. As an artist it would be heaven. There is nothing I
would change about it. Job well done!
I don't know where you are getting your figures but we pay something more like 3 dollars per thousand accessed value in property tax here in ABQ. My sisters in Illinois pay something like what you are quoting on their homes.
This house would be a dream come true. Having a second laundry room would be fabulous. I am always competing with our college student for the room at home. Thanks for showing us all the things we don't see on the regular "tour".
ok is their any rooms that u are not showing us because their on the map of the house their is a room front of the double batroom thie is a door but what is in their and then i want to know about the closet in the gust and kids bedroom how big are they
Hi Richard,
I can not give you a 100% answer, but many have said during previous blogs that the white spaces are maintenance rooms and/or some closet space.
Hope that helps.
This truly is a dream home and WOW my heart beats so fast when I am looking at it and thinking about it that's how excited I am about this house it will be the best gift ever to win this home. I have spent so much time looking at this home from top to bottom, it is spectacular and would be the perfect place for me to relax ,be at peace, enjoy the beautiful surroundings ,and get creative in my business adventures. Winning this home will allow me to give more to Haiti then I could ever imagine with the money I could really help in the live of others. Thanks for the oppurtunity to enter my name in each day into the entries.

EVERY YEAR I'M ALWAYS EXCITED TO ENTER THE CONTEST BUT THIS YEAR JUST TAKES MY BREATH AWAY -I'M EVEN MORE EXCITED -I HAVE TO SAY THIS IS MY FAVORITE HOME -FOR ME THIS IS MY DREAM HOME -HGTV SEEM TO ALWAYS AMAZE ME–MY DAUGHTER AND I HAVE OUR FINGERS CROSS AND HOPE I WIN———GOOD LUCK EVERYONE
This is a fun fact, my family was already going to New Mexico for a vacation with friends. So my daughter showed us the house and me and my husband fell in love with the house. If we win my daughter will flip out!! I really want to win, if we don't my daughter will be crushed!! Also, my daughter told me about there being 2 laundry rooms but I didn't believe her. Now that I saw this, I do believe her now!
I just really want to be the one who wins, I have my mother and my best friends entering in so we have a 2/6 chance to win out of the six emails we are using. HAVE FUN AND I WOULD LOVE TO WIN!! THIS IS FOR MY DAUGHTER!!
I'd live there even if it didn't have a laundry room! New Mexico is the "Land of Enchantment" and a place where each time I visit I feel like I'm part of the earth. I dream of living there, it's a wonderful place. This "dream home" is fantastic!
This may have been asked before, but I was wondering about the bathroom in the casita. The glass is beautiful, but are there curtains or some other privacy option. From some of the photos, it looks like you can see right into the shower from outside!
It has definitely been asked before, and many people have the same concerns that you have!
Hi Jen P…go to "but Where's the Grocery Store" Blog. Under Casita Contest there is some discussion about what people would do, if anything, re: the Casita privacy issue. There is discussion all over the other blogs too. Happy hunting!
Can someone please tell me dimensions or how many square feet the casita is? i want to do a similar one but i don't know what size is enough but not-too-much. maybe with room for a washer/dryer too.
Under roof living space is 3,900 square feet. The lot is 3 acres.
I think I read somewhere that it's about 875 square feet but I can't recall where I saw it.
so terrific!
