Can You Haiku?

Photo by Outdoor Exposure by Denise

Good morning, bloggers.

Thank you, Heritage Seeker, for inventing and posting the haiku contest. I am so impressed by this talented blogging group. The winning entry, submitted by show me the green, is posted below:

rising sun’s pure light
mountain vistas dawn to dusk
whispered dreams now true

All entries were fabulous and worth a read. I will make sure the winner of HGTV Dream Home 2010 receives a copy of our haiku collection when he or she is handed the keys to the house. My fingers are crossed that one of our very own blogging friends wins this year. Wouldn’t that be fun?

  1. Beautiful, of all the pictures I've seen that would be deserving for a special place in the Dream Home, this one is at the top. Congratulations to the Haik winner and all the other posts.

  2. What a breathtaking photograph! Thank you so much for sharing it with us!

I am a long time lurker in these blogs. LOL I discovered the dream home contest last year and have been a faithful follower ever since. Even though I have never posted here – I've thoroughly enjoyed all your comments.

Like all of you, I am in love with this home and dream of seeing the views from all the different windows in person. I can almost feel what it would be like to enjoy a peaceful cup of morning coffee in the sunrise room.

Best wishes to you all! Of course, I am hoping to win this amazing home, but I will be thrilled if one of you does, too. So, I'll just keep on entering and dreaming!!

  4. Absolutely love the area and the home is beautiful and functional. Can you tell us if the garage also has radiant heat in the floor as well. Also like the high ceiling double garage area , this would be perfect for a tall car lift to store a trailer above and your avalanche below , the car and Harley to the sides , don't you think ;)
    Great Luck to everyone !

  6. That is the most beautiful picture I have ever seen. The colors mixed with the scenery just says WOW! That is GOD at His best. You even see His promise peeking out amoung the clouds. I just love it. Thank you for the wonderful pic. I hope you have this framed and given to the winner. This would make a wonderful addition to the home.

  9. I wanted to do the vote thing where the winner demographically was going to be from, but I didn’t see my location, “far north” :(
Wouldn’t it be so very cool to have a winner from the 49th State win The Dream Home in the 47th State? FYI- My birthday is March 3, the day after the winner is chosen…what a GRAND BIRTHDAY it would be if my name is drawn!!

  13. Hello bloggers,

Just a question…. I may be on holiday in florida during on the day HGTV is supposed to surprise you at your doorstep. If I WERE to win…. and I was not home, what will happen? Will they go to the next winner? Or will they just call/email. Or, even better, come to florida where all my relatives are?

    Thanks everybody! 1 day left!

JoAnna on February 18, 2010 at 3:19 am
    • In the past they tried multiple times to contact the winner.

  14. This picture brings me joy. I have feelings of peace and serenity, oh what a beautiful place God's earth is, and the land of enchantment is aptly named. I along with everyone of you, longs to be the recipient of this lovely gift, a place to call home, what could be better? I hope to that the winner is one who has been here from the first dream-home, the reason I say that is because I meet that criteria, ha ha. I believe it to be my time and if by chance I am wrong, I will not hesitate to enter again and again year after year. It never hurts to dream, but remember that the chances of your name being picked is very small, but like I tell my family, somebody has to win and it may as well be me, right? I believe the winner last year only entered 5 times!!! That made me feel pretty bad, since I made good and sure I entered each and every day. Anyway, that was last year, and I am still blogging, so if it is to be one of us bloggers that wins, well I hope its me, no hard feelings, I just hope its me, I am sure you all hope the same for yourselves too, right? Good luck to you all and God Bless.

    • I couldn't have said it better, DaddysDarlin! I have caught myself looking at this breathtaking photo and completely losing myself in its incredible beauty… it makes me want to move to New Mexico. Perhaps if I don't win the Dream Home I can at least visit this magical place in the desert. I moved out here to AZ a few years ago from the East coast and I have fallen in love with the big colorful skies and desert terrain. And to top it off, this Dream Home is the most beautiful one I have seen yet. Something about it, it is just simply magic…
And I wouldn't change one thing about this home! I have 2 little girls that love purple would go nuts over the Alice In Wonderland playhouse and a little boy who adores Toy Story!

  15. That picture is so amazing, I have never seen anything like it. I could really enjoy watching the sky from that dream home. God bless you all, including me.

  19. I am really glad this Dream home comes with cash prize too. Winner can use it to pay tax for the home and enjoy living there. In the past some winners could not afford to pay huge taxes and end up selling their Dream
home. I hope HGTV will keep this tradition and will offer some cash prize with the Dream home in future too.
    I hope I win.

  23. I really think this picture should replace the picture in the Great Room. You could auction off the other picture and donate the proceeds to the High School!

  24. Haiku is wonderful. As an eighth grade English teacher I have my students do a three week section on poetry. They all love Haiku. Super Fan, your Haiku is perfect. Of course you have one extra syllable in your second line, but that is just fine. The thing that you have done that is one of the requirements of Haiku is that you have written about the aspects of nature. You get an A+ for creativity.

    Linda M. on February 19, 2010 at 8:41 pm
    • How cool that you teach eighth grade! I love middle school kids. BTW, I keep counting 7 syllables in the 2nd line — how are you getting one extra?

  25. Hi how are you. My name is Alicia I'm so glad are people like you. But at the same time gives me sadness because the winners are always the middle class economy in which 90% achieved their objective the American dream this year I would like to win a poor family as the prize inclued half of million dollars for comply with the rules of the prize.Aunque I confess that the houses gave the year 2008 for back were much better than an advance much better than solar electricity had is an GOOD anyway THANK YOU VERY MUCH. ALICIA AVALOS.

  27. I have never seen such a beautiful sunset in my life! Your picture takes my breath away. I am a writer and a creative person in fashion and other things. I love New Mexico and have put my winning in God's hands.
I once met R.C. Gorman and have the picture to prove it as I was invited to his home. The story behind meeting him is very funny. I met him on the phone while focusing n my work. I will save the story for later.
You are very talented and and have a great gift for captivating God's beauty with a camera.
Thank You for sharing this with us!

  35. WOW…now this, this is my new home ~ poetry in motion. Gods presence is the pure and real beauty in this life. More overtaken I would be to live with the warmth of His love surrounding me with the breathtaking presence of His hand. There is no artist that compares.. though His love follows in His children that walk with Him in everything they are.
