Can You Haiku?

Photo by Outdoor Exposure by Denise

Good morning, bloggers.

Thank you, Heritage Seeker, for inventing and posting the haiku contest. I am so impressed by this talented blogging group. The winning entry, submitted by show me the green, is posted below:

rising sun’s pure light
mountain vistas dawn to dusk
whispered dreams now true

All entries were fabulous and worth a read. I will make sure the winner of HGTV Dream Home 2010 receives a copy of our haiku collection when he or she is handed the keys to the house. My fingers are crossed that one of our very own blogging friends wins this year. Wouldn’t that be fun?

haiku has inspired

  4. I enjoyed the photo very much! When I am having a snow filled day–I tune in to see this picture, I close my eye's and dream of a time when all of America was untouched by the human hand–this reminds me of that, and I thank-you all for posting it….It is very beautiful & peaceful. Truely, "God's Country!"

    • This is really to think about. I know when someone wins lottery here in NY that, after taxes, they end up with around 40 % of total price. 60% was taking away. I figured out that on 2 mil we would need to pay back 1.2 mil to own this win and end up with 800.000 in our pockets.
In situation on winning this house, could not afford to live in.

  11. H_S Hello, Being new at all this, I read on the blog a page back, they mentioned the p and numbers beside the names, what do they mean , I don't have a number by my name , as many others don't either , now, I have been worried about the entries I 've made , I hope I haven't goofed up, I only started learning the computer the same time I started entering the sweepstakes, a few months ago,….. I didn't know, I could have my own email on my husband's computer until recently, I have always used his computer , now he has a lap top and doesn't use this PC any more, now that I have gotten my own email , I have used it when entering for the DH , do you think that has made my entries not count., I did try to change my email a couple of times a while back, but it wouldn't allow me to keep my user name so I just stopped trying. I have asked HGTV but haven't gotten a reply back yet…… What do you think? or anybody that has knowledge of what the rules are.

    • Before I give a more detailed answer, I'd like to Know your favorite "Potent Potable."

      Heritage_Seeker on February 11, 2010 at 2:31 am
      • Now, H-S , lol , I bet if I new the answer to that I would know more about what I'm doing , the only answer I can give is, first tell me yours lol

        Ali B on February 11, 2010 at 3:04 am

            Ali B on February 11, 2010 at 3:31 am
          • Well, on that note H_S, all I can do is give a guess, at what that is , my favorite Potent Potable ,Hummm, let me think , Hummm, well I did think of a couple but they were far from Potent, I guess I don't have one , so now tell me yours

            Ali B on February 11, 2010 at 3:49 am
    • Hi Ali B you are fine with your entries. If you go to the bottom of the page and register under intense debate then you get the numbers beside your name for each blog you send. If you don't understand something go to google and type it to get the answer. Potent Potable -strong drink is probably the meaning HS meant the other two meanings are jeopardy category and weed. Best wishes and keep dreaming….

VABrenda on February 11, 2010 at 8:12 am
      • Thanks very much VaBrenda, I appreciate you taking the time to let me know , the only strongest drink I could think of that, I would consider my very favorite , was coffee, and I drink that at my on risk, lol, with acid reflux , I have to stick with my next strongest ,.Milk, lol

  12. Hi Folks; I'd really like to know what is the elevation of this house location. I would also like to see a picture of the house and the snow – if that is the appropriate weather. Most places in that area seem to be getting some cold weather with precip of the white, cold, kind.

Is this considered to be close to the Indian Reservations?

You answered one of my questions about accessability. Also, I want to know about the electronic hookups for PC, etc., if the reception is good there. (Is it Satellite or cable hookup?)

    Thanks for your input.

  14. Hi everyone. First time posting! I have been up now for five hours (it's almost 5 am and I'm going to have trouble focussing today!) devouring every piece of information about this incredible place. The energy and love is felt in this home. The local art and attention to detail, I can feel the pride through the photos. The excitement everyone has is amazing! Gail is so great. I had no idea what a wonderful area it is too. It was so fun researching the geography, the city and the feelings I had just experiencing it all….wow. I'm going to visit this area one day very soon in the future. I can feel it.

Matt Dabney on February 12, 2010 at 12:15 am
    • Matt, if you log in to Intense Debate (like those with their names in blue) it's much easier to find your posts. As to your questions, it's up to other bloggers here to decide whether or not to answer them. Nobody from HGTV is officially on this site to answer each and every question. Hope that helps.

  23. I long to return to my birth state and every year when we leave from a short stay there and return to the pale blue skies of central California, I cry.

Each day I enter my email address with hope and yet I know that one day – Super Dream House or not – I plan to return home to the land of my ancestors, the Land of Enchantment. The Super Dream Home at Sandia Park would make my return that much sweeter. Thank you HGTV for offering this wonderful opportunity.

  24. Hello fellow bloggers. My name Is James Goodrich. I am from Michigan. This my first time blogging so bear with me. Iam a navy veteran. I served in the navy for 6 yrs, I did 3 tours in country of Iraq and afaganstan. I suffer now from post traumatic stress disorder. I seen 50 of my closest freinds die ride in front of my eyes. I have constant nightmares from this. The reason why i share this is because I ask that you would pray for me to win this house. It is much more than a house to me. You see while I was serving in iraq I lost my grandma and uncle who raised me and I didnt even get to say goodbye to them because I was in Iraq. The only grandma i have left, is 80 0yrs old. Her house Burnt down last summer. She survived the fire by laying in the bathtub with cold water, until the fire fighters arrived. She has a very hard time getting around. She is currenly living in a motel. She can barley walk at her age. and has to depend on strangers to help her to walk and get groceries from the store. If i was to be chosen for this house. It would be way more that word could expalin in a blessing. I want my only grandma i have left to live with me so i can take care of her. I am currently living in my sisters basement, so she can help me to get to my ptsd clinics, I ve prayed and prayed about this house, cause to me it is much more than a house, It wold finally be peace where i could have my only grandma i had left who i luv very much, So i ask if you do pray that you would pray for me to win, Thank you James Goodrich

I wish you have a beautiful house and you live with your grandma and both of you live in comfort, peace and joy for the rest of your lives. I wish you recover from all traumas you have endured and seen.
I admire your grandma for sitting in bathtub and I really wish that lady total relief of her troubles and comfort of opulence and joy. She is also hero. I wish you both enjoy your life in opulence, never short of money-but plenty in peace and joy and health. I wish you both will have plenty, plenty time (many years to come) to enjoy each other company in comfort and joy.

Speaking of space, I grew up in PA, in a cottage on 40 acres near Pittsburgh, and my heart was always looking westward to regain the peace and love I knew then.

Good luck to everyone.

  45. I am so in love with that picture of the rainbow in the desert I think it would be so awesome to have that picture painted as a painting on the wall of the new dream home…. God does the most beautiful portriats in the sky!!! After a spring rain I think of you
The sunlight shining through pillow clouds and dew
    Out shines a rainbow
Beautiful colors all in a row
Every time I see a rainbow
It always makes me think of you
Even though it looks like a frown
I turn the rainbow upside down.
I pretend it is a smile on your face
With lots of beauty and grace
Every time I see the sun
I pray for a spring shower to come
Every time a spring shower comes I think of you
I hope you see the rainbow too
When it comes down shining through
It will always remind me of me and you.
