  3. I will be closer to my dream home when I win it. My children and I will be in Santa Fe for our Spring break ski trip at La Quinta inn hotel. Look for me there because this house is mine according to Deuteronomy 6 verse 11 in the Old Testament.

  4. What no no Gila Monsters!? Just Bears, Coyotes, Snakes, etc. ? How ever could I live in such a place without any Gila Monsters! My little 10lb. Poodle "Princess" would want to make friends with all the wild creatures that she could, and as cute as she is, she'd would have a host of friends! The area sounds enchanting…Should I not be the Lucky Blessed Winner, I'd consider buying a lot next door and building a similar home should I ever win the Lottery Jackpot! This has been great fun no matter…RS.

  5. My question would be, "how are you going to pay for the outrageous property taxes, insurance and maintenance fees to keep this 1.5 mil house?" "are you using part of the cash ($500,000)?" Just wondering what past winners have done also, have they been able to keep these homes or do most have to sell them.

DOJ on March 7, 2010 at 7:11 am
    • With lots of hard work, the money will go towards the house and the majority of the winners have kept their home. Hope this helps

Michelle on March 9, 2010 at 3:02 pm

I would also like to ask the winner: What is your favorite room in the dream home? What will you do with the casita?

  23. The HGTV rules said that the winner was going to be "AMBUSH" . WHAT EXACTLEY DOES THIS MEAN ?????

Maggie on March 8, 2010 at 3:56 pm
    • It means the notification is a surprise when an HGTV film crew and host/hostess shows up with a new car, a giant poster board check, lots of helium filled balloons and says Congratulations, you're the winner of the 2010 HGTV Dream home.

      dreamn_again on March 9, 2010 at 2:46 am

Michelle on March 9, 2010 at 2:39 pm

Susanb on March 9, 2010 at 4:01 am

  31. the sweepstakes is not fair. I TRIED TO ENTER my name and it would not let me because I did not have an e-mail number. You know not everyone has computer and it is not fair that anormal person can not enter your stupid contests. I was a big fan of your programs but NOT ANYMORE YOU SUCK MARY HAMILTON 1527 8TH ST. S.E. ROANOKE, VA. 24013

MARY HAMILTON on March 9, 2010 at 11:09 pm
    • you can mail in your entry. do you know how to do that?

janice on March 10, 2010 at 3:34 am
    • Mary, Did you know that you had more (even better than online) chance to enter by mail? You can mail in as many times as you wanted per day, to just one per day on-line (computer) entry. Also, for some of us who don't always have e-mail or computer access at home, the library is/was a wonderful place to visit.

All is not lost, you should not give up on the great enrichment HGTV provides. Anyways, they will have another one (another giveaway) coming up soon. So get with the program and get an e-mail address, use the computer at the library if you need to … there is going to be another give away starting in April.

At least one benefit i see you getting is – learning to get an e-mail address… Good Luck

Etse on March 10, 2010 at 3:55 am
  32. Congratulations. How many times did you enter? Did you send in any mail entries or just online? Who could keep such a great secret.

    Barbara1 on March 10, 2010 at 1:12 am
  33. I would probably ask……………
How many time did you enter to win the HGTV Dream Home??
What is the first thing you will do when you get to your new home, the HGTV Dream Home?
What will you do with the 500,000 dollars?

    Gina V on March 10, 2010 at 1:17 am
    • Hello, I don't know if I'll be the winner, but I entered many many times.. The first thing is the Wow effect:) and with the $500.000 I have to pay all the winning taxes.,
If you win $1 000 000 lottery ticket they are going to give you less than $500.000 and this house is considered a lottery and if you don't have this $500.000 to pay the taxes you will have say Good bye to your Dream Home:(

Stefimt on March 10, 2010 at 5:14 pm
  34. can I come out and stay with you for a week or two

    janice b on March 10, 2010 at 3:31 am
  35. Hello! I would ask them what made them enter the contest? Is the house the real house of their dreams? I know my answer, and I hope I get to tell everyone! Good luck and Congrats to the winner.

Cindy Johnson on March 10, 2010 at 9:06 am
  36. Congratulations Dream Home winner in Louisianna (my guess. My husband with New Mexico license plates will arrive in Louisianna early Friday morning. He announced the winner is Louisianna).

    Are you packing to move?

warmweather on March 10, 2010 at 11:02 am
    • My husband (made his announcement about the winner in Louisianna) also said he is going to Florida.

It is so much fun to encourage the winner (Louisianna or Florida or CA)

warmweather on March 10, 2010 at 11:14 am
  37. there are big birds in New Mexico big enough to lift a 140 pound person in the air and take them for lunch! Let me know if you see them last I heard there were 12 spotted. Look up before you head out if you decide to live there.

  38. what a gorgeous home it is. How nice to believe that we can all dream for just a little bit, just knowing that this will be a reality for someone is nice. The question I'd ask the winner how you are feeling right now? Then i would ask what feature if the house appeals to them the most? GOOD LUCK TO ALL!

  39. HOW WILL THIS CHANGE YOUR LIFE/THE LIFE OF YOUR FAMILY?
WHAT IS YOUR LIFE LIKE NOW?

ARE YOU EXCITED ABOUT MEETING JACK THOMPSON?

  40. Are you currently living a green life? Have you planned for a career/ job move as well? Do you plan to help others in need of housing with the additional $500,000.00- basically paying it forward in appreciation as your dream has become reality?

Ran on March 10, 2010 at 7:04 pm
  41. I would ask the winner, if they told others they were entering, or if they tried to keep it a secret to better their chances of winning. Also how many times did they enter, and was it just on the website or did they enter thru mail as well. Although these will be the answers I will tell all of you when I am asked all these questions as I am the next winner!!!

Brandie on March 10, 2010 at 7:08 pm
  42. Wow! How many submissions did you send? Where they by Mail or E-mail? Is the cash prize enough to "Pay All the Taxes?" Did the IRS hit you up the same day you heard that you won? Wouldn't it be "Funny" if you found out from the IRS that you had won because they were notified first and showed up on your doorstep first? "Hello, we are with the IRS and you OWE US $750,000.00!"

    KAMADDOG01 on March 10, 2010 at 7:13 pm
    • I quess that mean's only rich people can win, right???

His joke might come true….That the winner in Louisianna or Florida.

warmweather on March 11, 2010 at 6:17 am
  44. Ok, so I know alot of people already said this one but I would for sure ask two questions..
    1. Who is the first person you told about your winnings?
    2. What do you plan to do with the money?

    GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!! :)

Ashley on March 10, 2010 at 7:58 pm
  45. If it airs at 8pm live on the east coast, I will be sure to be home by 5pm on the west coast. Very few programs are actually aired "live" on the west coast, but I will get off work early so I can open the door and act surprised! (lol)

  46. Now that you've won the HGTV Dream Home 2010 – how will your future change & what will you do to "pay it forward"?

MadiKlintworth on March 10, 2010 at 10:19 pm
  47. When you entered the contest, did you act like you had already won? If they have children what were there feelings about moving to a whole different state. What were your feelings as you viewed the house and car on HGTV as you entered daily or just how many times did you enter? Was there ever a time when you just believed that this home was meant to be for your family?

Sherri Justice on March 10, 2010 at 10:46 pm
  48. If you plan on living in your new home, how do you expect your life to change for the better?

    Dreamer314 on March 10, 2010 at 10:51 pm
  49. Ok , so you won this fabulous home. Have you thought about what it will cost in Taxes, insurance and maintenance ? Will you have to sell it ? How long will it take before you realize that a home that has more value than what you earn is not a pleasure to keep. It would become a nightmare. All that said, I wish you all the best in your new home.
