While We Wait
Good day, bloggers.
I hope you’re not suffering from boredom. A watched pot never boils, so we must keep busy.
I’ve included pictures that showcase the HGTV Dream Play Home. My handsome hubby, who stands 6’1” tall, gives you perspective on the play home’s size. I think the interior is adorable! I also couldn’t resist “cooking” in that amazing gourmet kitchen.
For those curious about the sound system in this year’s HGTV Dream Home, it’s controlled by a small touch-screen monitor in the home theater. (The stand stays in the theater, but the actual device can travel throughout the home.) It’s one of those extra-special touches that make HGTV Dream Home 2010 incredible.
Many folks have asked how long it takes for the winner to receive his or her keys once the HGTV Dream Home 2010 Giveaway show airs. Plan on approximately six to seven weeks.
Your Super Fan,
Gail

I think that whoever wins the house should come on and tell all. Tell how the wait was what they are feeling and what they now plan to do. Try to answer some of the questions that people asked for the winner that maybe Hgtv didn't ask.
Just so we can feel like we are apart of it.
But I think we should all promise not to say anything mean and not to over do with more and more and more questions.
So I'm sitting here reading the blogs, watching Design Star and I have all my windows open for a clear view of the street. With all the talk about a white van pulling up for the ambush, every fleck of white I see in the corner of my eye makes me jerk my neck to see if its "them" and my neck is starting to hurt a little. Then, I remember watching one of the past DH giveaway shows where they showed up for the ambush driving a similar vehicle as the one to be given away. So, now- not only am I noticing every white thing that goes by (some of which have been birds), but Im also noticing every G M C vehicle that goes by…maybe I should turn my computer desk so I don't kill my neck…I think this is going to be a long week ;]
LOL! You really need to head over to the DH MB and post on the BOLO thread. You would enjoy it.
There's no way of knowing what vehicle you are looking for…except for the fact that in some they have brought a duplicate of the sweeps vehicle. When they come, they'll come…if they come…just relax and enjoy the dream until the winner is announced…there's no use in stressing,
I don't think they would want to air a show awarding the $2million prize to someone who cannot qualify to pay all the taxes and costs associated with winning!! So once you have been announced on the March 15th show then on to credit approval and agreement of the terms before you can receive the keys — thus 6-8 weeks! Remember the winner must sign the transfer papers for the house, pay all the taxes associated. Then arrange to pick up the GMC Terrain pay all the taxes, this is a gated community so you have all the fees associated with a private community that have to be paid. And as with anything else — no money no keys!!! By the way taxes on $2million could be around $750K!!
Um…most winners haven't kept the houses- instead sold them. This year comes with a cash out option from the developer. So, your "reality check" needs to take a reality check. If the winner is financially able to keep the house and wants to keep the house (they may realize the location doesn't work for them or something) then they will and if not then they will take the cash option. Also, to your theory of announcing the winner and then credit check…they would be in a legal mess if they announced a winner then took it back.
The large federal income tax is not due until April 2011, so you would have a year to sell or keep.
This has been discussed (and more or less resolved) over numerous posts in the past.
***DBCoop***::
Just thought of something: If we take into consideration the 5 day part of the rules, thus the winner being ambushed by the 9th, is there a clause to the effect that the winner cannot tell anyone until the airing of the show on the 15th (to avoid press leaks etc)? They must do something like this. But, do they expect me to keep my mouth shut about winning for 6 days!!???!!! Now, that is going to be a feat!
In last year's winner's interview with a newspaper afterwards, they said they were ambushed the monday before and couldn't tell anyone until after it aired.
adisneyfamily: "the monday before" what day? How many days were there between ambush and air? I seem to recall last year's show was on a Sunday night. Do you mean 6 days?
Dean- you're funny…that's all I remember…google it if you want, but that doesn't mean they'll do it the same.
Maybe they'll have to sequester you…jury style!
I agree with Jane. Let's hope that the winner is a blogger. Good luck all!!
New blog thread just arrived and for some reason I cant get in. There are already 7 comments, but when I click on it , it just says "Sorry, cant locate"- or something to that effect…
Click on the title of the post instead of the comments. Not sure why this is happening.
And it shows the pres. at the computer. Which would mean that it was an online entry, right? I'm so jumpy. Every where I went today, I was looking for someone to ambush me (I know, a bit soon….but a girl can be hopeful, right?)
I think you are right, but it could have been set up that way just for a photo op…I guess we'll all know by the 15th (one of us will know sooner)! It never hurts to be hopeful…Good luck!
Okay- someone posted the idea of posting where you'll be in case your are investigated on here. A couple of others joined in including Coop, so I will jump on the bandwagon. I am usually at home unless I am running an errand or up to something spontaneous…but those all mean that I would be coming back home. My thought would be more to say don't get discouraged if the winner lives on a military base…they are easy enough to get on especially if you have the right credentials…the public affairs office would help out too.
I have been looking at the Dream Home video, blogs and checking out everything I could. Our memories of all the wonderful vacations, how ever short, in both Northern and Southern New Mexico are keeping my hopes and dreams alive. I hope who ever wins will love living in such a beautiful home and area…it's a great home in a state with traditions that should inspire all. The Turquoise Trail was a trip to be remembered, with all the lovely stops along the way…..this home fuels the desire to be there. So here's to many blessings to those who dream, and to the one that wins! Would that it be me, it truly lives up to the state that claims to be the Land of Enchantment. .
OK….how come I can post a comment in here, and NOT in the Winner Announced Posting portion. It shows 12 Comments IN. When I try to go to the Comments, it sends me to the Search tab. Search? Me?
I had the same trouble. In the search bar type in and the winner is and it will let you post.
me too.
Me too!
I just tried it again and it's not working now. Maybe all this excitement is causing an electrical overload…lol
CLICK ON THE TITLE OF THE POST. NOT "COMMENTS".
Thanks for the suggestions. I was able to read the new thread "The Winner is".
*****I CAN HELP!*****
For my blogger buddies having a difficult time posting to the new blog titled, "And The Winner Is…"
Look under the photos to the right and click on "Permalink", you should then be able to post a comment.
For those of you who didn't know there was another thread from MARY about the winner being chosen, it was posted at 2:52pm….so hurry and I'll see you over there!!!!!!!
Hope this helps and, as always, best of luck to all!
Living the Dream!
Thank You! That worked for me!
The playhouse will be my new art studio. I have so many projects going, that I need the extra room!
Hi everyone! My heart is beating a little stronger…They have chozen a winner! I so need it to be me…..Wonder when they will contact the winner? May the one most in need and Faith win!
Yesterday there was a small insert all about The Turquoise Trail! OOOhhhhhhhhhh wasn't that something? Also this morning there was a notice about recalling GM cars too. Is ours in danger? Before I go off I really want to thank some very special people. The Human Affairs people at :Wellborn for the lovely cabnetry in the kitchen, the GMC Terrain, the Subzero refrierator, the Rinnai water heater, the Wolf stove, Lumber Liquidators and other suppliers. Many commercials were great and I know their products are in the home like Cascade, duracell, Lindt Lindor Truffles, and more…I am sorry that I cannot think of them right now. The Scripps Network Inc. and HGTV Network This Sweepstakes is a wonderful way to advertiize products "That would be found in any Dream House". Blogging/Posting has been a ball and the most addictive thing I have ever experienced Thank you one and all including the most wonderful bloggers in the world. We have some prettier streets today just because of one person Ali B.
See you in the next spot for sure. Believe Dream and Smile Sandy
I just figured it out!!! They read our posts and knew we were going to have those colors out so they surprised us by having their colors like ours. Oh how fantastic, that is so great. It makes me feel that besides the bloggers there is this greater family out there including the administrators!!!! OOOOOOOhhhhhhhhhh how exciting is that? We are all together on the same page and having fun.__Now I know I was thanking HGTV for surprising us. Wonderful!!!Sandy (No, I am not excited)
How could I have forgotten favorites like Bissell and WalmartI have to post on next thread.
QUESTION
Hi Gail,
Does the home come with a security system?
I am a stay at home mom so I will be home and my hubby Jeremy could be at school, clinicals or work. Bring on the ambush, we are eagerly waiting!!!! Thank you in advance HGTV!!!
Here I am again I hate the waiting!!!! And I have 2 days off work!!! Maybe I'll go buy some balloons for the Dream Team, I will give them a GREAT BIG WELCOME AND THANK YOU!!!!!
I so want to win the dreamhome I mean don't we all today if you guys read the rules they are possibly choosing the winner I hope it's me and they will be contacting on march 14th and the special will air on the 15th so we juat have to wait twelve more days luckily for me I entered everyday online and did some mail-ins. Just hope it goes to someone on the eastcoast! hint hint!
But they said something about in the rules contacting on the sunday of march 14th which is next week and the special is airing on the monday the 15th which is the day after so that's only a day I mean who couldn't deal with 24 hours you probably couldn't figure out who to call anyway! And if a neighbor notices act like you don't know what there talking about!
No, it says "on or about March 14", which is vague at best. We were discussing this on page 7 of this post and in the rules it also states that the potential winner has 5 days after notification (the winning) to return the legal affidavits. So, that would mean that the winner is ambushed (in this case) sometime before March 9th. That gives the winner 5 (maybe 6) days to return the legal stuff before the airing on March 15th.
What it comes down to is HGTV has to make sure all of it's legal garbage is taken care of before airing.
What it REALLY comes down to is no one really knows and I'm getting tired thinking about it.
Just have to let it go and let it happen…
Well just to let hgtv know if Im not home I’m probably in labor so bring it on I’m ready to hear the good news!! “That I’m the winner”.
OMG!! Just came back on the blog-o-sphere to check out what's going on with finding the winner for the DreamHome and I happened to read into one of the threads here. What a lot of misinformation and confusion I ran into!!! Apparently there is some thought out there that if you can't pass a credit check you can't win this prize, and that if you can't pay the taxes on it the day you win it they will choose another winner!!!
I loved coming onto the blogs to check out the latest information and see all the great things superfan has to show us, but some of these threads are purely ridiculous!
I agree with you, but try to just look past the unfounded remarks and go on to the next- sometimes people speak without knowing what they are talking about. Im sure there will always be people who try to bring people down, but I truly believe the majority on this site do have good intentions. Keep on dreaming- its getting so close now!
There were even people thinking that it was mandatory to fly the balloons to be eligible, as well as a ton of questions that we have answered hundreds of times…lots of new people around and a lot who both don't read before posting and those who don't read the rules.
Cannot blog on the new blog site, it can't be located bummer.
I'm glad to here that last years family doing fine.
Click on "And the winner is…" instead of clicking on comments…
I see that Mary commented that she had an issue with the "And the winner is" blog. I too was unable to access. Wonder what the problem is?
All my nieces and nephews, and great nephews will go bananas playing in that house. I really hope I get to share it with them. Heck I'm young, my own kids will love it one day.
that is the cutest little house for the kids, very dreamy and room for imagination. But that Kichen look even better, let me show you how to make some Danish Frikadeller (meatballs)
My grandkids have sat with me while I watched, and entered HGTV's dream houses since 2000'. Each year they pick out their rooms; they get so excited about each house every year, so, we all are anxiously awaiting the winning results!! We have loved the differences, and locations of each home.
Is there something wrong with the blog? I can't open the comment page for March 2??? It says there are comments. I want to read and possibly ask questions about the drawing. A page comes up that says something like nothing could be found in your search when I click on comments. What's wrong? Anybody..help.
OK…since I can't get into the Mar. 2 page, here's my question. You have all these paper entries and all these electronic entries. How do they choose between paper and online? Obviously they have bins and bins of envelopes. I could understand someone blindly pulling an envelope from a hopper, but then what about the online entries. I don't understand how they choose between the two. Maybe we're not supposed to know, but I am curious, aren't y'all?
Last year's video has been posted many times, and it looks like they used the same process this year. Here it is again:

Hello everyone, well I hope I am the lucky winner, Ientered daily from day one! I keep waiting for that phone call or that door bell to ring. Good luck to eveyone who entered, everyone of us deserve this! Love ya, Ashley
This is so exciting…..I have always wanted to open my door and see someone with a large check, balloons, champaign (even though I don't like champaign) with a crowd of strangers just screaming surprise! But this time with keys to a house and the possibility of a new life ahead. It is a beatiful opportunity and blessing to be able to experience a dream come true…..it's a cinderella story…..best wishes to all….I know we all have our thoughts in clouds 9, 10, 11, and 12.
My two and half year old would go absolutely crazy for that playhouse! After my split with his mother and a year of living with my parents due to relatively very high support payments and the economy, this would be much more than a dream come true, it would be a fresh start on an amazing level! Thank you so much for putting forth the effort to keep us informed and excited! Good luck to all!
I can't wait to see my kiddos (2 1/2yr boy and 3 3/4yr girl) having a blast in there
Do you realy have to be a blogger to Win?
Its highly unlikely the winner will be a blogger. Everyone who entered according to the official rules (which didn't mention blogging) was eligible to be selected as the winner.
I can’t wait my husband and i talk about the dream home everynight. It would just be nice to have a home of our own we live in my father in law’s house now and it needs alot of work. My two year old son would love the kids room and the play house. I wish everyone luck. And a big thanks to hgtv.
This would also be a great late b-day present seeing how the 15 is only 12 days after my b-day
Its a randomly selected winner, and a sweepstakes prize, not a gift for anything… Birthday gifts are supposed to be a purposeful and thoughtful act of respect and appreciation. This is neither.
Hi Gail,
<img style="text-align:right; padding-right:10px;t" src="http://visionserver.net/images/_hgtv_dreamh_painting.jpg" alt="Dream Home Painting" />I painted a watercolor of the Dream Home, this is how my wife and I visualize our new home. I can see all the art we will create sitting in the
back and from the Casita. We also have photos of the home in our home office.
It might be fun to ask the bloggers what they do to see themselves in the
Dream.
Thanks for all the wonderful info and insights.

Is anyone else having trouble on the site with a format change. Some of the comments are highlighted in grey, and there is no reply icon.
Hi everyone, is anybody having trouble with the format. The reply icon has disappeared, and many of the comments are highlighted in grey with a longer stream of posts.
I concentrate on the positive because it’s all positive. Keep smiling and blogging and enjoy each day. The person meant to win will win. Why worry, just be happy!!!
I will soon have a family of my own, wouldn’t this be the most wonderful gift to add to the most wonderful moments of my life! I have been struggling multiple consumer fraud issues the past 3 years completely ruining my once wonderful youth. This would truly be a blessing for us! Fingers are crossed the prayers are rolling multiplying by the day. Good luck to all of you who have entries in one of those or many of those bins!
Sandy LA Thank you for your kind thoughts , What inspired my thoughts for the Balloons for Showing Appreciation to HGTV and Surprising the Ambush Dream Team, was the Beautiful Haiku Picture of the Sunrise in New Mexico, Those colors were just so intense and Stunning, I just thought ,Why not ,use the Colors of the NM beautiful Sunrise/Sunsets for a Theme to Honor HGTV and the Ambush Team, I just Hope they enjoyed the Idea as much as we all have, It has been Great Fun!!! Thanks Everybody for All your loving Support ……… I hope tonight isn’t the end of our blogging, But if so, ..Have Lots of Fun While we All Wait for the Big Reveal !!! March 15th >>>>AliB
I so hope it’s me! Last night I went to take a test so that I could be temp. employed by the Census, just to earn a little extra money, and the guy giving the test never even showed up! So what did I do?!?! I went and wasted some money and bought some lottery tickets! That was sure smart… But maybe, just maybe, I didn’t need to do that because the dream home will be mine! It would be a dream come true! Oh I so hope it’s me!!!
OMG, I was wondering when everyone kept referring to the Dream Play Home…HOW ADORABLE IS THAT! I’m a huge fan of Alice in Wonderland (I hope my little girl will be too, someday!) and that’s just AWESOME. Wow. I mean, the house and all is nice too, don’t get me wrong, but I never even thought of a playhouse version of the DH…that’s just cool. Wow…much better than the doggie dream home (my Corgi prefers to laze about on our laundry instead!)
I can’t wait to see who the winner is, I hope it is me and my kids. It would be life changing, I want to move real bad and start a beautiful new life in that beautiful home.
I can not afford the house. Nor could I afford to not take the house. Since as stated, the taxes on your winnings would not be do until april of 2011. I would use the $500,000 to take ownership of the house. Pay any fee’s to the community or for picking up the car, txes title etc .. How would I afford to keep the house, that remains to be seen. Rent it out ? Roomate ? Reverse mortgage ? Gainful employment in the area ? Creative financing ? Payment plan with the FEDS ? Sell some of the artwork and furniture ? Not sure what all the options are. It would be worth trying to make it work at least for a few years. It is a great looking area and truely the experience of a lifetime. Michigan is not much to look at in my area.
I am probably alone, however I am not a big fan of the play house, not sure I would want my daughter out there instead of in the house with me, or that should would want to be. It seems to small, probably be a storage shed for me. Maybe practice my guitar in the Casida to keep the noise away from the family ….. 1 in 40+ million ? Not likely I have to worry about what to do if I win, still better odds than the Power Ball though !!
I was very happy with the contest and I dreamed a lot but now I’am not so happy because…the IRS..the taxes. I think that HGTV should pay the taxes. It would be better for them.It is not a good present for the people that watch their programs every day.It is a problem for us.I said….
HGTV should pay the taxes.
y Dad died last October and my Mom is all alone in Nevada. My husband & I would really like my Mom to move in with us. Our house is very small, but the Dream Home is very large! She could live in the house or stay in the Casita-whatever she would like. The house is in such a beautiful area. We, also, don’t have any “views” from this house and I just LOVE views, expecially sunsets. If we do win, we will be very blessed. Good luck to all who have entered. Don’t be disappointed if you don’t win, there is always next time.
Whoever the winner is, that is one lucky person especially since it’s a 1 in 40,000,000 chance!
My husband thinks I am nuts…but I am a dreamer…
Anticipation continues to drive my family bananas but one member of my family is stired up the most, my 7 year old son Brandon. I really don’t know why he’s so eager to win…what goes through the mind of a young child? Maybe it’s because we have had more snow in Iowa this year than any other year since the early 1900′s? He honestly wants this house so badly he counts down the days as if it were Christmas. Brandon has already told his friends, and teachers, of second grade that he is moving to New Mexico. My whole family awaits with anxiety, to say the least. We all love the house and the state.
Being life long Iowans, to move to New Mexico would simply be a dream come true in itself. In fact, we have been seriously inquiring about Santa Fe and have decided to move there, no matter what, in the near future. HGTV has totally inspired our desire to move to this awesome State.
We really don’t have anything to loose. In the past few years I have lost my mother, father, brother and last grandparent. There is no reason to stay here in Iowa any longer and it’s time for a new fresh beginning with just Me, My hubby and two children.
I truly hope God knows that many of us all have this same wish and desire….but hopefully he will let the best person win…one who will appreciate such a fantastic home as well as the State it’s in.
Good Luck to all and God Bless.
