And the Winner Is…

Today the folks at HGTV congregated at a local fulfillment house to select the winner of HGTV Dream Home 2010. Our president, Jim Samples, was on hand to chose the winning entry and read a thoughtful Christmas card from our 2009 winners (let’s just say they are doing well and are incredibly happy).
Could you be the lucky one? I honestly don’t even know the name or location of the winner. I cannot wait to watch the giveaway show on March 15 at 8 p.m. Anyone planning a dinner party? If so, don’t forget to serve our signature Dream Home margaritas.
Good luck!

OMG…. me!!!!
seriously?
seriously?….as much serious as you..or I…or even the cookie monster….assuming he entered….
Best of Luck!
So you have been notified that you won, oh lucky one?
i am very lucky, so i think they might be coming this week and telling us
It's me, not you, sorry
I 'll take your "It's me" and raise ya a "I got this"…….;)
Best of Luck!
I think my luck ran out since my phone I used on entry form died this past week and still not fixed =(
How do you post a comment?
scroll down to the bottom of this page…you see the are to comment in then. Welcome!
as you did….;)
Did you win seriously??
Are you freakin serious?? I read the rules and they said that it will be a total surprise, that they will come by your house on March 15 at 8.
No, Carrie, that's not exactly right, and I'm "freakin' serious". The show airs on March 15 — they ambush about a week before, based on information from last year's winner.
I received two calls from a "stranger" on the 3rd and the 7th. One was local and the other was long-distance. In both instances, when I called right back the woman (both of which sounded alike), told me she had dialed the wrong number. I hope you are not disqualified simply because you didn't pick up the phone on the first ring…..Oh, well.
That's tellin 'em Wyo Girl….;)
But perchance they are in the midst…as I speak….er type…..;)
Best of Luck!
Not always…..
So… Have they picked someone or not? Are you "The Lucky One?" Seriously…
No… (lol) I didnt mean to stir everyone up…. That was just my wishful thinking and still dreaming.
I am still glued to my window…. wishing wishing…
Hornets nest on da blog…….good one Lucky…you got 'em fired up and ready to win…
so…who wants this here Dream Home?
Who's got it?
Who gets it?
Who really…really wants it?
I do…..
Good Luck to all!
i am very lucky so dont get ur hopes up. Sorry to say, but when I feel lucky It is always good
I believe if you tell anyone of your good fortune before the official announcement, you are disqualified from winning and must forfeit the prizes.
Don't you think they have already ambushed the winner? They have to make sure they 'qualify', etc. and need at least a week to dot their "I's" and cross their "T's" before they show it on tv on the 15th, so I am imagining (most unfortunately) that if I haven't heard from them by now, someone else won. That's why they picked the winner on the 2nd. They needed time to make sure the winner qualified. It's certainly a beautiful home and a very lucky person/family that wins it. I just hope they can afford the taxesand expenses involved and can keep it! The government should waive taxes in a situation like this and let the winner use the cash to live there and truly enjoy it!!
In the rules it said something about them contacting a winner on the 14th of March. I really hope that we get it.
I am not sure how one qualifies……its a random drawing. Anyone know how they weed out those 'unqualified"?
I am guessing it has to do in part with if you or your family works for one of the sponsors. I dont know other than that!
Ok my fingers are crossed. This could be the answer to multiple prayers. I think I will cross my toes too.
It's ME!!!!! so im my dreams
me me me me me me please, please please
I hope it is me, I'm an artist and want to paint that beautiful vista and sell my art at local galleries. Best of Luck everyone!!!
My heart is beating fast rite now!! everyday i look at this house picturing me and my fiance setting on the beautiful patio watching the sunrise and the sun set. It's just a verry beautiful house to start a family! I cannot wait! i even put it on my reminder so i wont missed it.
It could very well be me…best birthday present ever!
I hope I am THE LUCKY ONE
I have to go out of town unexpectedly for a funeral. What happens if the Dream Home Team can't get hold of the winner?
so has there already been a winner picked? If so why do we have to wait until Monday?
best of luck to all that entered. I grew up in Albuquerque and it's a wonderful place.
We are all winners in this game. I wish the best for the one they pick.
So it is the day of the announcement. Don't you think that the winner already knows they won. I know it isn't me because I am still at home in rainy New Hampshire and not in sunny dry New Mexico. I figure the winner
has known about it for several days by now. Damn I wish it was me.
I am never lucky so I know it wasn't me. I so wanted to move to New Mexico – have been trying but lack the resources. It really would have been my DREAM HOME.
Happy for whoever won!
well the fiesta party just left… we had the Dream Home margaritas too!!! Im waiting just moments until the big show!!! I know its me I can feel it. I will let you all visit!!!
Totally excited in Kentucky,
Heather
It is a scam people this is not a random lottery….due some investigating…..it is a scam!
OMGOSH!!!!!!!!! We have been waiting for this all day long! YAY!!!!! The time has come! Thank you so much MARY! I can't wait to see who the winner is!
So, I guess we will soon find out whether it was a mail-in or an online entry?!?!?!
You're the best HGTV! Jim…you look mmmaaarrrvvveeelous!
Living the Dream!
Lynn, nice catch on that little bin # 14 marker!
H_S
Actually I think there are at least 15 but the highest number I could spot is 14 so I thought I'd play it safe.
Living the Dream!
Lynn, I think you are correct because if you look at the view where he is standing, bin 14 is behind 9 and there seems to be one more bin behind 10, which would be 15 :0)… I'm so glad they posted this, I knew something would be posted eventually and was waiting (tick-tock-tick-tock).
Agreed!
Living the Dream!
I'd guess the number of bins to be 15. As you say (and Lori M), there is another bin behind #10, which would be #15.
However, at this point, it would SEEM that the winner was an online entry. More shall be revealed, right MARY?!
Yep, I think you're right on …. When you save the picture to your computer, it's named "winner selection."
Yes, Coop, I believe it's a online winner since Jim seems to be picking it from the computer. Hard to believe this day finally is here. Can't wait to recive my surprise ambush!
I'm glad the number went up only by about 700,000 from last year rather than a couple extra million entries.
Last year they had 18 bins. Surely there is more this year with 700,000 more entries, ya think?
Maybe not — the bins are only for mail-in, so it may not have gone up in proportion.
K9NUT-probably more online…those bins are only mail-in
Hi Lynn … Yes, HGTV is flying OUR COLORS! Hooray! Seeing all those balloons really puts me in a PARTY MOOD! Compliments to you for your keen eye for detail!
Jim is at the computer, so it was an online entry. Good thing I entered both ways!
Lynn, you are right. Noticed colors of balloons!!!! They match with the colors of DH10. They designed everything to great extent. The winner will feel like a truth celebrity.
Didn't use all the balloon colors H_S suggested, but I did use the colors my girlfriend had in stock. When I get home, I'll use H_S' colors. By then, surely the winner will be notified. The reason I'll put out new colors is to support and congratulate the winner!
have they already notified the winner?
We are estimating that it will be early next week.
Hi Lynn, I am super new to the blog and did not know how to just post a normal comment??
So do you know if the winner has already been notified? I would think so considering the show airs on the 15th and I would assume they would try a few times to contact the winner to ensure they are home??
Again I am new to the blogging so I was wondering if you had heard anything on how it works?!
Thanks:))
Hi yvette1313!
Well, there certainly seems to be a lot of speculation that the winner has already been notified. In previous years, the winners were notified the week before the giveaway show aired on television.
Only HGTV knows for sure…
Living the Dream!
P.S. To make a comment, go to the bottom of the page where it says 'Post A New Comment'…hope this helps!
Hey Lynn! Do you work for HGTV? Just curious.
I am wondering how they use the online submissions to "draw" a winner… do you know by chance?
Hi there Tara! LOL! No, I don't work for HGTV…wish I did though. Last year, I had sent in an audition tape to be the next Super Fan but HGTV decided to keep Super Fan Gail for another year. Oh well, maybe next year?
I had explained somewhere on this post they way they choose the winner. If you keep reading down these pages, it is there somewhere. I posted it about one week ago.
Better yet, here is a link for you. Look at the video in this one and I think you will find the answers to your questions!

Hope this helps!
Living the Dream!
I know I'm dreamer, but my heart keeps telling me "It could be me. Miracles happen and the impossible is only impossible if you believe it to be! May the force be with me. I have already told my husband if the doorbell rings on the 14th and he does not recognize the face, open the door and expect lights and cameras! P Jackson
you mean that they are rainbow colored baloons??? Yea that's for me!!!!!!!!!!!
…basking in the beauty of so much artistic vision. Use it wisely. Congrats from the rest of us who shared your dreams!
The anticipation…
I am sure is just as exciting for HGTV as it is for us outside of TV Land…. The moment I have been losing so much sleep over… Now hopefully I can unglue myself from my window and allow the " surprise " to take place…
This will be a beautiful gift for anyone who submitted an entry. So many have posted their "deserving" stories… We all have our share of challenges and adversities, However… We are given strength thru the Lord to maintain and remain…. so I believe, whether a blogger or not… We all are blessed in everyway, once we pull back the curtains… we can see the forest when we take time to see thru the trees…
Good Luck Winner ! and God Blesses.
Amen! Lucky One. Life is one day at a time and if we have the Lord in our hearts He will carry us through no matter what He allows to happen in our lives. We can live in Peace knowing He is in control if we let Him. I could never have it any other way! If it was His will for me to win this sweepstakes to use as the way for us to get out of debt and to do ministry full time instead of part-time, than I thank God. But, if it was not his way, than I did not want it and I thank Him I wouldn't have won. I hope the won who wins really does realize it was not Luck but that God really was in control of the results.
Amen!
AMEN! This is so cool. I have prayed exactly the same way!. Your blog is exactly what I would have put. Our God is an AWESOME God. Whether God chooses either of us I also know He will provide for our households in miraculous ways. I don't know you, but I am going to begin putting you in my daily prayers for deliverance from your debt. And to be able to be used in full time ministry.
God Bless
Well spoken, good luck to all of us whether it's this home or in our own. We all need the strength to over come this recession in our GREAT U.S.A.!!!!!!!!!!
Awesome and uplifting comments. Thank you! Very inspiring.
The Lucky One, I agree with your comment. This has been a great blogging year. In a few days, we'll have the opportunity to see which "deserving" person won this magnificent Dream Home. Everyone who entered in my opinion is deserving.
what a wonderful response.. Good luck to the winner.. As lucky one said.. God Bless us all.
You got that right, Lucky One. WE are very blessed and sharing this blog has been a blessing to many also. Keep the Faith!! Everyone..
I agree wholeheartedly. I just pray that who ever is the lucky winner that they will use their blessings to bless others and have the home blessed to do God's intended purpose. If the person who wins does not know God, I pray that God will use the home to lead that family to meet and serve Him and to help them to help change the lives for others for the better. I have already told God that I will dedicate the home back to Him so that I will be able to help others while I am blessed to live there.
I just wanted to tell you. i to have a challenging life with many adveristies everywhere i look , but what is most and formost the important thing to treasure is the lord forever.all he does for us and most of the time without a thank you . even though its hard for me and my family i know i am blessed. and thank you for pointing the most important part of all this the lord. i hope my family and i have a chance at this blessing which would turn everything around ,but he knows whats best, for each one of us .good luck and god bless you
WELL SAID!!!!!
Thank you for sharing with all of us who have entered, that it is truely God that leads our lives.
We all sometime forget he needs us to believe that we can find the good in all life's situations.
Good Luck to all and God Bless.
It is nice to have dreams, to wish and hope…..I have been one of them who invisions myself relocating from SD to NM…..It will be a blessing to whomever wins this magical home….
My name is Christine Simon mother of three beautifull Girls, we live in Brookyn New York and the three of us have been praying every day that God would Bless us with this house. Where we live right now is hopeless. My children room is under a grocery 24 hour grocery store where people hang out all night and smoke all night. I've complaine to the landlord, the police about the second hand smoke that my children inhale all the time. My friends always tell me how smoky my house smells. Winning that house would be a dream come true for us because we cant afford to move any time soon. Plus the fresh air would the best part of winning this home.
OMGOSH!!!!!…WOW…..Now my heart is racing even faster….I'm so in love with this house…GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!!!
Holy Smokes!!! It's official! YAYYYYY!
Thanks Dean, I got in! Good luck to you!!!
To you as well!
Oh my heart is beating a million beats…Is it me?????
Seeing all those entries makes me nervous ;-/
Congrats to the winner…
Again is it me??? listen HGTV. I don't need a grand ambush, I don't think I can wait a couple of days. I don't know if my heart can take it… Just call me… come now.. I'm home..
All of us feels the same. All our hearts beats in anticipation and we all nervous.
Knock Knock…..is Jane home?…..can Jane come out and play Lets Make a Dream Home Winner?
Best of Luck!
We are all anxiously waiting with the same heartbeats or not for the announcement.
Good Luck and Congrats to whomever wins.
..My stomach is doing flip flops…(bad visual)…can you imagine being the lucky one out of 40 million??
Everyone seems so calm ! (smile)
AHHHHHHHHHH!
don't let that calm cool exterior fool you!! lol
I think this group will be The Lucky One. It is the nature of this group personality.
I have the calm of a winner…!
And the nervousness of a potential winner…..
And the frantic roar of a caged animal……..woof!
woof ?! is that all you got?!
GRRRRRRRRR… ok grrrrrrrrr… lol
i am with you all the way roscoe p…
i could not have said it better.
they are killing me i cant wait im totally excited but every time i think about it getting closer i get so
freaked out. im scared.
Nothing to fear. I have decided that if I dont win, I am going to figure out a way of building of my own dream house from scratch, with the sponsors represented. Where there is a will there is always a way.
i love your way of thinking maybe some of that can rub off on me.
Thank you doll, its taking along time for me to relax and let life happen. If it doesnt work the first time, walk around it 180 degrees and think of another plan.
Janice Vegas Hey, I love your logic Janice, and I believe you'll make that walk work the first time around , most anything works for us with positive sight, and you already have a head start
You must be a little psychic. I am just in the middle of trying to figure something out, and your words were a support and encouragment. Gosh we have all benefited from each other on the site. Love to You and Good Luck
That's the SPIRIT! ~ Still dreaming to live out all my dreams ~
You my dear Both_sides_now are the dreamer that will live your dreams EVERY day. BLess and good luck.
Headed off to dreamland as I have an early dental appointment in the morning (gotta make sure my smile is bright for the cameras, wink!) … Just wanted to say I appreciate your kind words and your blessing. My heart is full tonight … Sweet dreams.
Well…if ya gonna get that sacred so easily…you can't come to the campfire cookout and tell ghost stories on your new patio……or can ya?….;)
Best of Luck!
Campfire cookin'……..pass the smores plz
I think it's an online entry, since he's standing at the computer. I could be wrong though. Don't know how they pick someone from the letter bins.
I only know from watching the previous winner selection video that they had numbered balls for each bin and they picked that Bingo style before moving on to that individual bin.
Must say the excitement is nice.
Yeah but someone had said that they pick a few winners just in case their is a problem. So that can be the winner or backup.
I agree with you the excitement is nice
Or it could just be Jim Samples turning the computer on…
I would think the photo they post would match the first selection, and not necessarily the backups.
Though I'm certain you're right that they've made multiple picks to grab the backups. Too much hassle to assemble all the bins a second time to pick backups after the fact.
Hi there! How are you…excited? What did you mean they have to pick a few winners in case of a problem? How can you be disqualified?
Oh my goodness, my heart is beating so fast.
In my mind I'm planning the party celebration. As I live in Santa Fe, NM, I will hire a local bus company to drive my family and friends to and from the Dream Home. I don't want them driving home after drinking the Dream Home margaritas.
The first order of business is having my dear friend and Pastor Bless my new Home, a tradition in the Hispanic community. This occasion provides a special opportunity to mark the joyful event and to thank God, from whom all blessings come, for the gift of a new home.
Then the Mariachi music begins, followed by food and drinks.
All I need now is to “set the date”
Tori, I was planning on doing the same thing….having my pastor bless the home and all who enter there. First give the glory to God, He controls the universe. I put my total trust in Him. God bless you and good luck!
Let the good times begin. Such a respectful and good comment about hiring a bus, and may Mariachi always be part of your life.
Is the "Yorkie" in your name refer to a Yorkshire terrier? We have 2 silkie terriers who would love to visit with you if you win the home!
Yes, Yorkie Tori, Dedicating our homes to the Lord has always been our first priority in the past and will be for this home if He has chosen us to win it.
I f I don't win, I hope it is you! I would love to be there for your Mariachi music and Margaritas!!!
WOW…… That is amazing, all of those entries. How exciting ..!!!!
Check out the bin in the right photo. How exciting for anyone who mailed their entry in a yellow, turquoise or pink envelope. Sitting right on top!
The first month I did mostly blue, turquoise and off white; then in February I switched to light and dark pink in honor of valentine's day
…I just remembered last year watching the video and seeing all the different colors and thought, this year, I'm going to use color too.
How fantastic. Maybe those are yours? Also, look at the bin with the number 10, there's another pink one!!! Good luck!
I mailed in those exact colors as well as lime green…200 total. I got excited when I saw that photo. Hope they're mine!!
I was amazed last year when there were so many envelopes that were decorated beautifully. I sent in a few envelopes…plain white business style envelopes so the pretty ones were not mine.
However, I do believe that it was an online entry which was chosen by President Jim.
Best of luck to you!
Living the Dream!
I agree look at the picture on the left. it looks like he is pressing the space bar and if you watched the video that told how they chose the winner than u would no that that is what he is doing on the COMPUTER!!!
good luck to all COMPUTER entrys lol!!!
especially ME!!! Keep praying
maybe they could use it for this years green house???
OMG!! I'm sooooo excited. I've been telling myself for weeks that its me!! All those entries makes me nervous though. I can't wait to get there!!
Well now, the suspence of who won and how they will be notified is going to be the topic tonight. Everyone hopes they are the ONE. I imagine someone soon will be celebrating and the others… tears!!!
I wish the winner blessings with their new home.
I really hope my mom wins, both of my parents are getting a divorce and well I think the house would be the big key of me and my brother and sister living a happy life. I really do hope I win the house, not like i would not miss all my friends, i would but this is not where i was meant to be. I think I am supposed to live in Sandia Park, NM.
PLEASE GOD, let the winner be my mom.
OMG !! I have to get my hair colored before the ambush gets here !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My hair appointment is tomorrow…..hope they don't ambush me at the salon!
That would be wild! I didn't sleep a wink last night. Trying to make sure my house is at least clean and neat. It is very chilly here and I want to be able to say….."Welcome to my home!" It blows my mind to think of who might be with the team. And to have them in YOUR home. How cool!!
Ya'll will just have to see my long, grey hair on TV because I don't know when I'll have time to dye or cut mine!
I have been out of town with my husband on business for two weeks but he is bringing me home later today, Wed, and then tomorrow at 9:30 AM I have a much needed hair cut and color apt. So I pray that they will not come until later Thurs. or after. Pretty Please HGTV!
lol..i love it….was thinking the same thing…gotta make sure im having a good hair day
Won't get my hair colored but maybe I should. Maybe not. Think I'll stick with not until I decide to get a new hair style.
Yes! Yes! Keep your house, spouse and children looking fab for the cameras! We will all be cheering the winner on!
That's cute!
WOW!…that's a jump from last years entries…I should've mailed more in …LOL
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!!
wait and see if it was a mail-in before you say that…if it was an online entry then it wouldn't have mattered
what about if you entered online! I never knew that you could mail in entries! I entered online everyday and am wondering how they would select a winner online.
This is something I have been dreaming of all of my life
my grand children would be so happy I'm at work and cant stand it .. Good Luck to all..
I've literally been dreaming about walking through this house in my PJ's. I'm hoping this dream comes true. But I do have a question…If you're not home when they come to tell you that you've won what happens? Do they move on to another "potential winner"? I may be out of town the weekend before the announcement show and don't want to miss them. ; )
Trust me when I tell you this….they will make sure you're home, at work or where ever it is that can be the "anbush surprise" they're looking for. They spend two weeks deceiving you into believing they are this or that person so they can find out as much info as they can on you then they inform the people around you who you are clost to (because they can't pull the surprise off by themselves). So unless you haven't had someone call you within the last few days with some outlandish but believable story…you're not the one.
I've already come to terms with my disappointment but I'm excited for the winner so congrats to you who ever you are.
Ya, me too….but after all tomorrow IS another day….along with next year AND the next dream home!!!
I read your post and my heart is thumping so hard right now, I'm think I'm going to faint. I received a call from "someone in CT" this morning while I was in the shower and tried to call back but the number on my caller ID is "no longer in service" – then my husband says he's received 2 calls today while he was at work but he couldn't take them (he works in a factory) – the caller ID showed a blocked number. We never receive phone calls from ANYONE but family and friends. How many times do they attempt?
All this waiting and anticipation will pay off! I keep hoping, praying, thinking positive ,dreaming, wishing, Ohhh I pray its me!!! Just this once, a dream come true!!!!!
HELLO! I HAVE ENTERED THE CONTEST EVERY SINGLE DAY. I HAVE HAD THE WORST LUCK THIS YEAR EVER. MY HUSBAND AND I BOTH LOST OUR JOBS, I LOST MY HOME, I HAVE THREE CHILDREN AGES 9,8,6 ALL BOYS AND I RECENTLY TOOK IN MY BROTHER IN LAW WHO HAS AUTISM AND MENTAL RETARDATION. I AM A FULLTIME COLLEGE STUDENT AND HAVE NEVER BEEN SO PHYSICALLY STRESSED AND SICK IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. MY HOUSE WAS FORCLOSED ON AND WE HAVE ABSOLUTLEY NO MONEY! I HAVE TRYED TO GET HELP BUT NO ONE WILL HELP US. WE ARE GOOD PEOPLE AND HOPE AND PRAY THAT WE WIN THIS. THIS WOULD ABSOLUTLY BE A DREAM COME TRUE GOD BLESS EVERYONE!
Bless your heart I'll pray for you you'll get through this I hope you win i was so selfish to want this house more than anything when there is other people out here like you who deserve it
You keep praying you have the right attitude
Yeah!! I thought it was today. Can't wait to find out who won this gorgeous dream home. Like everyone else you know I would love to win it and have my incredible dream come true
Mary, thanks for keep us informed!
Further, thanks for the link to the Dream Home margarita!
Let me see now; 40,640,000 entries divided by my number of entries……..
……Wow that's less than 1 million!
My odds are better than one-in-a-million!!!
That's better than some of the lotteries that I don't enter!
I feel good about this!
For some reason Heritage_Seeker….
I think alot of us feel good about this…. We will know soon
Heritage scroll down. There is more on the blogbash you were talking about. Maybe you have a different cool idea for a gathering.
Doesn't that mean you would have had to send in 4,000 entries?
Did you send in 4,000 entries???
Let me see here……..hmmm………
If I did a simple example of 50,000,000 (fifty million) divided be 50 entries…….. well even with a simple calculator……… that would be 1,000,000 (one million).
Since the total number of entries was somewhat over 40,640,000; if I divide by only 50, I get a little over 812,000.
Where did I go wrong??? (40,640,000 divided by 4,000 = 10,160; I like those odds much better!)
Oh, I was just kidding. But, I see how you came up with it now. Wow, the odds are better than I thought!
Hi HS, when I first saw ALL those envelopes (at least 750,000 … if 15 x 50,000), it reaffirmed just how much a longshot winning the DH really is — It's truly a needle in a big ole haystack …. But then I saw your post, and you put such a positive spin on the odds … now I'm thinking, well maybe, just maybe. So nice you're here to point out the silver lining, thanks for that!
LOL! Hey, what a great way to look at it. The odds may not be great, but they are BETTER! You're too cute.
LOL, Heritage_Seeker! Hey, what a great way to look at it. The odds may not be great, but they are BETTER! You're too cute.
Oooh… Margarita, that's what I was missing! I'll bet the odds look even better than one-in-a-million after a margarita. Especially the Dream Home Margarita. I think I'll make my husband and myself one and we'll kick back to dream a bit.
Try a Radioactive Long Island Iced Tea and you can get your odds down to 2-1…..;)
The real Q is can you sign the paperwork after one?….;)
Best of Luck!
i no how u can narrow them down even more if u entered online than u have a pretty good chance cuz the picture on the left shows him pressing that LUCKY space bar!!!! which is what choses the winner on the computer bens… i entered around 200 times i entered me, my dad, my mom and we each have 2 email addresses and i entered everyday almost i might have left out a couple of days but oh well
I"m ready HGTV, come get me and take me home!! I don't even care if I look terrible on the camera, catch me in my worst clothes and a messy apartment… it doesn't matter!!! Congratulations to the winner of this unbelieveable home!! The suspense is killing ALL OF US!!! A large party is definitely in order!
Looking at those full bins makes me wonder if the Dream Team will find a clever use for all that paper.
I agree, being energy efficient and recycle/ reuse conscious I am sure they will do more than the dump it to waste
Etse Hey , and a after thought to my reply to Andie/printmaker , also , is not only shred it all up for Cat Litter , but give it away Free, lol One company really does make Cat Litter from paper, Called "Yesterdays News "
That's the cat litter we use for my sweet little kitty! It took some getting used to (she's very nit-picky) but we love it!
Andie/printmaker Hey , lol .I'll throw out a nice thought for them "Cat Litter" would n't it be nice to shred it up all up and call it , ' Where Dreams Come From" Keep Dreaming Dear Friend
a person in tennessee needs to win this
you are not the only one, both of my parents are getting a divorce and it is very hard. So i really hope if we won this everything would be ok
Ya try having ur grandpa die and ur Great aunt all in 1 yr then ur grandma moves in with u gets cancer dies after 6 months. then this year ur mom and dad almost get a divorce u get a restraining order on ur uncle because u find out some terrible stuff he did ur older brother never is around anymore and ur mom refuses to talk to the family that u miss that live in florida. now that is a messed up life and on top of it we have had to file bankrupt and move into a town house under my aunts name even though we r still paying for it…
I agree!
they should save it and give it to NYC for next years New Year's Eve celebration. they could shred it all and make confetti !
if its like last year each bin has a number that they put into the computer and it picks the winner from that bin. mail ins are in the bins and electronic entries all have numbers like bingo balls and they put that number in the computer to get a number from whatever group that number is for.
Since you asked Andie, Were boxing it up and sending it your way……enjoy!…;)
All the Best!
Lord, let it be me!!
I know! I've been praying since January 1st! I'm 13 and if i win, i will go on a mission to the community homes
I promise i will stop my bad habits too
OMG! It's finally here! Well in 13 days
I have had this feeling deep down, as I'm sure many of you have that I will be picked. Because of my credit & financial situation, I can never buy a house. But I did just win my disability after 4 years YEAH! I live right here in Albuquerque in an apartment at the base of the mountains, how convenient. My best friend lives in Sandia Park and I love it out there!!!! So quiet, so serene. But, if I am not picked I am sure the Lord above will grace the best person with this house
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!
I hope you understand the meaning of property taxes and that you never really own your home. The government always owns everything. If you can't keep up with the property tax payments and the utilities and maintenance of the home you'll have to sell it and be in the same boat your in now several years down the road. Just something to think about. Owning a home is alot more than just having it payed for.
….then you know the breathtaking beauty of New Mexico. I wish you well, though in my wildest dreams and with much faith, I see ME living in this incredible HOME! I live in a midwest town called LUCK (truly) and my e-mail address is santafeheart (that gives you some idea of where my heart is (truly)……..and maybe with that LUCK….and destiny…..I long to return to NM – this would allow me to do that – and help a lot of folks, too! Lived in Santa Fe for many years – returned to midwest several yrs ago to spend time w/family, esp granddaughter (10 – wants to be a designer!) – Trying to get back there somehow – sending resumes – looking at rentals – this is the Dream Home – our blessing! I wish you well.
Thank you Mary for helping us wait with all the information! I hope whoever wins will love living in such a beautiful home and area…it's a great home in a state with traditions that should inspire all. The Turquoise Trail is a trip to be remembered, with all the lovely stops along the way…..this home fuels the desire to stop and live the dream. So here's to many blessings to those who dream, and to the one that wins! Would that it be me, it truly lives up to the state that claims to be the Land of Enchantment. .
First order of business this evening … house cleaning.
We just put company from Atlanta on the plane this afternoon, so our house is clean. But we will need to pick up the ingredients for those margaritas!
I nominate this post best of the day! LOL
Can you clean my house when you're done? I wouldn't want you feeling bad about cleaning the wrong one… haha
I was so excited to read the information, I first thought it read that the one drawn had sent a Christmas card. Silly me… So, we still have a chance! My goodness, I am acting like I am 5 years old!
WOOPEE! GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!
It is always fun to dream. I think I've been entering since 2003? I get excited around this time, the picking of the winner (which they've only shown a couple of years now), getting a chance to see the envelopes and paper (hoping to see your color), it'sall fun. Then the disappointment (normal reaction), which is ok because usually the winner is sooooo excited and it's really fun to watch. I most enjoy it because it gives my daughter and I something to have fun with, wondering if we will get ambushed. We also thought, if nothing happened by the 10th, we were not the ones.
Can't wait! Thanks again HGTV for sharing the drawing and a few pictures (and of course the new blog).
Love it all..GOOD LUCK EVERYONE! And don't be to upset if you don't win, there is always next year!
Almost for got…we should all toast the HGTV Dream Home tonight, with a Dream Home Margarita of course!! CHEERS!
OMG!! I've been checking all day for this blog! It's official – we can all get paranoid now! I can't wait to see all the crazy posts filled w/ speculation!
Hold on , it's going to be a wild ride until the 15th!!!
Oh, how true! And, we own a black Caravan with blacked out windows (you need to keep out the heat in Florida); so, I can imagine any neighbor who doesn't remember our vehicle may think it's the Dream Team!
LOL! So true! Stick some balloons on your antenna, & freak people out!!!
By the way, next time you buy a vehicle, I think you might want to try white, living in FL!!
Oh, you're a dickens! Visualizing me driving through the neighborhood with the balloons on the antenna is so darn funny! And on the color of the vehicle, white is a great idea!
Crazy posts is right! We'll probably hear everything from dark cars and vans to mysterious knocks and phone calls to strangers crossing our paths. Everything is suspect right now…
Oh man, now i'm going to be paranoid! I wonder how long they take to notify the winner??? I mean it will take them probably about a day or two to find out info on the winner, then another day or two to plan the surprise, and maybe another day or two to travel to the winner's location???? so like 6 days max??????? AHHHHH or it can happen ANY minute now……..
The balloons on my mail box look just like the ones at the drawing!! How weird. Or…..is it?? lol For those of you who know…..I live in a gated community. Today the thought hit me….what if they wouldn't let them in because someone is supposed to call the security gate and leave their guests name. They assured me that if they showed proper Identification, they would let them in!! So even here in a guarded community, I can be ambushed! NOW, I am even more anxious!!! I will feel so blessed just to have the ambush team in my home. I love HGTV and watch everything!!!!!!
To answer another question….about what I would take to the new home….my photography, pottery, plants, antiques, tools, dishes etc. Just not much furniture. Why would you?? The furnishings are wonderful as is the art. I just love that painting in the office of the Native American with the flag…really moving! The cheerful petroglyph and the monolith are both sure to make me smile!! Good luck and best wishes to everyone, but, I AM going to win. The good news is…..I don't mind sharing so keep in touch!!
Hello, Junior Blogger here!
Hey 1naturelover!Your balloon's are so ironic! I had a lot of ironic moments with this house too!
For example, The dream play house, themed Alice in Wonderland, related to me, because in my drama class, I did a 2 week skit on Alice and Wonderland Just me and my friend! My favorite number is 16, and that's how tall the ceilings are! The road right off the trail is Simmons road, and that's my BFF's last name! The dining room seats five, and with the outdoor seating (14 people) That's my family (5), both of my grandparents (4), my Aunt's family (4), and my uncle who is unmarried (1), All together 14! I know i sound crazy, but isn't that funny?
-Emily
Yes, Junior Blogger, Emily….I read your posts and I too have many happensuches…or coinsidences…you just never know. We are all looking so hard for something to hold out hope for. I just want you to know that IF I will, I will blog and post pictures and invite some fellow bloggers to the DH. Keep thinking positive!! Love your attitude, Ann
Thank you Thank you and Thank you. I have no idea who I am thanking or why it just seemed appropriate. It took awhile for me to get inside here, but it is worth it. I am so happy that my colors are exactly the same that are attached to the bins. Maybe that is all that were available. Ali B did you know those were the colors that they would use? Ok enough! Blessings Be With Each Of You or as mom used to say, "A Blessing On Your Head" Sandy
Hey Sandy LA Not at all, but , I 'm tickled pink that they did,!!! and I know H_S is very Proud too.
I also noticed the color of the balloons.
I figure we still have a couple of days before worrying about how we and our houses look…afterall, now they have to do research on the winner and plan their trip, etc. The fact that Jim Samples is standing there doing something on the computer does give me a flurry inside that it may be an online entry (I didn't mail any in) and produces some giddiness- that fluctuates with the reality of the million to one chance reality.
At least we know that HGTV knows who the winner is.
I think you're right. Based on last year's process, they hit the space bar for an online drawing, after drawing a ball from the hopper for the virtual or actual bin.
H_S, Is it at all possible that on Feb. 25th they saw that no more cards were coming in and picked the winner then and have been doing research since. These pictures could have been taken then and posted today. Do the rules say "around" or "ON" this date? Please let me know what you know. Sandy
Sandy LA: Rules state drawing is "on or about March 2nd," winner will be notified "on or about March 14th," and mail-in entries must be received by Feb 6th.
Ack! I work on Sundays!!! Might take that day off… or… HGTV will have to show up before 6:30 AM! (So I can call out… er… excited?!? LOL)
The wording in the blog says "today"…which I am guessing if it was any other day it would have said "yesterday" or something like that…it also said in the rules that the mailed had until Feb. 26th to be received.
Weird… all but one of my posts vanished today. Just wanted to thank you for telling me about the wii game, in case you didn't get my reply before it went away. This blog is wonderful, but not without its flaws!
Does anyone know if they will show us the selection video before the 15th? The video I saw from last year showed them picking the winner but just didn't show the name. Will they do that again?
I hope you PICKED ME!!!!! Fingers crossed, wished on a star, rubbed a lamp that produced a geni with 3 wishes, and everything else that brings you luck. We could really really use this in our lives!!!!
Oh my goodness I am SO excited and giddy right now! This is awesome and the time is drawing closer, woohoo!!!! I can't wait to move my family into that house and live happily ever after!!!
Please be us!!!!!!!
OMG – Is it me?
Wow! What a lot of entries. Was it a computer entry or a mail-in entry? (I did both).
I am headed out after work to buy my balloons to greet HGTV when they come and find me. I'll be getting the same five colors in the pics…Yellow, Orange, Red, Purple and Turquoise.
This is so exciting! Is anyone else losing sleep like I am? It's been a rough and quiet week (last week) and now, the excitement is kicking up all over again. The next week or two are going to be tough to get through. I'll be looking at every car on our street a little closer and checking my rearview mirror to see if I'm being followed and looking funny at everyone walking by in the neighborhood. Let the fun begin!!!!
Good Luck to Everyone!
I know I am!
I think I am having chest pain!!!! Do they call before they come?
I am still praying and hoping! Please God let it be me!!!
I was just thinking…everyone who has entered the Dream House giveaway better have smelling salts close-at-hand ! Yipeeee…faint….thud ! Good luck to everyone on all your wishes, dreams and prayers !
As a native New Mexican I just have to say, ‘CONGRATULATIONS’ to whoever wins this beautiful home. I was able to visit and tour the property and it’s the quintessential of modern New Mexico Pueblo style.
What a great job the HGTV crew did from the ground up with this dreamhome! Best of luck to all who entered…I’m keepin’ my fingers crossed!
Thank You , Gayle
Thank you Gayle
Thank you so very much Gayle that is the most neighborly thing I have seen or heard of in a very long time that made me dream that i would like to blessed with the house so I could have a kind and courteous neighbor like you. Thank you again for your kindness I hope that it spreads thru all these bloggers minds.
Yipps and Whoots, and Hollers. I am soo excited that the hoopla and celebration has begun. I have been thinking about a bloggamadilla party for the longest time and imagine that the bunch of this on this site, and previous bloggers can have a hoopla time- a party celebration, to honor the winners and losers. But here is the catch, the sponsors, perhaps the same ones that sponsored the HGTV sweeps for 2010 are involved. Offered are major sponsor prizes, like a green car, a small version of the DREAM HOUSE, a recycled house, a referbished prop, on a prime piece of property. Other prizes may include a stay at a major spa resort in NM, and a treasure chest of giveaways. Everyone that comes gets some kind of prize. Food booths, and area merchants can set up tented stores. Local craftsman, and artisans are there for the party. There would be major promotion of the party. And this close group on the site would show up in full regalia. I can see Heritage on his motorcycle, Janice Vegas on her mountain bike, Coop in a limo, renneelovesgreen in a greenmachine. Good luck to all, and I do hope one of us bloggers is the winner. Wouldn't that be diviva. How would you show up to the party, any takers?
And don't forget Emily, Riding in her parent's car!
Nobody gets forgotten, come one come all. Its a huge party!!!!
That sounds great. Count me in!!!
I'll 'Kick it Around' a bit.
Did you know that Harley's no longer come with kick starters?
With the right planning on the blog and sponsor party it could be a wonderful midstream, or after winning event You are in crazyinlove
*****Just Some Fun Stuff To Talk About!*****
For those of you who missed the video from last year, here is some information. Last year, there were 39,183,686 entries for the HGTV Dream Home 2009 in Sonoma, California! Over 900,000 entries were mailed in and over 38,000,000 were online entries. There were 43 times more online entries than mail-in entries!
(continued)
(continued)
The 900,000+ mail-in entries were divided up into 18 "Physical" Bins and the 38,000,000+ online entries were divided up into 764 "Virtual" Bins. In front of the bins, there was a hopper with 782 white balls in it, each labeled with #1 through #782. A 'Super Secret Agent' cranked the hopper round and round and then President Jim Samples reached his hand in and very randomly pulled one white ball of the hopper. It was #764 which belonged to one of the "Virtual" Bins. If the ball chosen had been #1 through #18, they would have gone to that particular Bin on the warehouse floor, reached their hand in, pulled out an envelope and that person would have been the Dream Home Winner. The "Virtual" Bins were #19 through #782.
(continued)
(continued)
Next, President Jim ever so casually walked over to the computer, pulled up "Virtual" Bin #764 on the computer and as it anonymously scanned the "Virtual" Bin very rapidly, President Jim pressed the space bar and VOILA! There was the Dream Home Winner of the beautiful home in Sonoma! Little did we know at that time that it was Cheryl Smith from Florida…but President Jim and some Verification Agents from Ritway knew at that point!
Phew! It was quite the process and the perfect random drawing for a perfect HGTV Dream Home!
So…do you think a mail-in entry or an online entry won this year? Any thoughts?
Living the Dream!
I hope it was an on-line! I had more of those! It looks like an online entry. The 2009 Green Home winner was a mail -in, & they didn't show a computer.
I agree, i think it's an online entry!
Lynn, it most certainly must be an online entry, unless Jim Samples was just checking his email (or this blog) while he was waiting
Thanks Lynn, for the update! Reading all the comments from the bloggers and seeing those two beautiful pics with President Jim Samples in front of the computer and all of the mail bins and beautiful red, yellow, orange, blue, turquoise and purple balloons behind him have made me happier and more excited than I've been this year! Thank you HGTV and President Jim Samples for making life so exciting for all of us bloggers for the last several months! I salute you! You really do make Dreams come true!
I definately agree it is an online entry. There is no reason to be at the computer unless it is a virtual entry.
My belief is that all the cards were entered on the on line site, so that the computer could do the picking. I don't believe it was an either or, that doesn't seem like a fair way to do business. It was probably done in connection with a special program to pick a winner randomly. I'm sure it was done very fairly according to law, and ethics.
WOW, the waiting is finally over. Hey Dream Team, at least call us before the ambush – I don't know if my heart will take it when you give us the news that my WIFE & I have won this magnificant house. Got the cars and bags packed already. Can hardly wait – see ya soon Sandia Park.
