  1. Like that you aren't giving away any hints as to whether it's mail or online. :-)

    @StephenWNagy on March 12, 2010 at 9:21 pm
    • Yes, and no hint as to whether or not the winner has been notified. That gives a few some hope that there is still a chance.

      Jan_of_FL on March 13, 2010 at 12:42 am
    • How do they know the winners will be home when they arrive with the cameras?

amy on March 13, 2010 at 2:00 pm
      • Hi amy, i too would like to know that. I think the winner knows days ahead that they won by a phone call from hgtv.

maggie on March 16, 2010 at 8:55 pm
    • So was the PIC that was posted of the drawing not this years drawing? I thought the PIC was from this years drawing which looks like an online entry. Humm

      crazyinlove10 on March 13, 2010 at 3:19 pm
      • I think it was suppose to be this year drawing Crazyinlove10, so I also think it was an online entry that won since the President was standing at the computer. Guess we will find out for sure MON. Good luck! My husband and I each had 27 online entries and 7 mail entries.

        Michele with 1 L on March 13, 2010 at 11:19 pm
        • That is what I thought too Michele with 1 L but then some post thought not so again I was confused. I do hope it is an online entry because that's all I did.

          Dreamin Til The Last Minute

          Good luck To All

          crazyinlove10 on March 14, 2010 at 2:27 pm
    • please let it be my bin, please let it be my entry

Tom Baxter on March 13, 2010 at 9:42 pm
    • I love their selection with the exclusion of so much fabric covers applied to make a room look some what exquisite..

Nellie on March 14, 2010 at 5:02 am
    • Can't wait, can't wait …CAN'T WAIT!

Tesa Wallace on March 14, 2010 at 1:39 pm
    • Well according to the picture of the drawing it looks like an online entry as he is standing in front of the computer. I only entered online so I am hoping the picture is of this years drawing. I think it would be because well why show a PIC of last years drawing when this year is what gives us hope.

      crazyinlove10 on March 14, 2010 at 2:49 pm
    • OMG, there's a van with a satellite dish parked way down the street from our house!!!!!!!

Larry on March 16, 2010 at 12:19 am
    • Did the winner get a phone call days before from hgtv before the :ambushed attack " .?

maggie on March 16, 2010 at 4:53 pm
  2. Oh how exciting!! I get to be the first to blog on the new post! Thanks Gail and Mary–this is great information! And, yes, I am totally anticipating Monday nights program! I can hardly wait!

Myrna on March 12, 2010 at 9:23 pm
    • I am so excited to watch and see who the winner will be. I know if I win I will be there enjoying the time with my son before he goes to basic training. What a great time that would be for both of us. Congratulations to who ever wins this wonderful dream home!

Deborah on March 15, 2010 at 4:36 pm
  3. Here We go again!!!!! Just a few more days.

AnneEliseSouth on March 12, 2010 at 9:27 pm
  4. Whew!!! Hey Gail, do you know when the winner is getting "ambushed"? I thought it was this Sunday, but I was fearful of not enough time to edit for TV. Good luck to all, I can't wait to see their face, either!!!!

EJC on March 12, 2010 at 9:29 pm
    • Since my 25 year old JVC TV died (bless its' little electronic heart), I would like to know if they plan to show the ambush on the internet simultaneously with the telecast. Best wishes to all out there in blogland. I don't believe I have ever seen(read) so many excited people. I hope the winner is truely blessed (the extra money $500k vs $250k really helps) and enjoys this beautiful house–an oasis in the desert.

anne on March 12, 2010 at 11:57 pm
      • I would really like to see the person who wins this house be able to afford to keep it if that is their wish! It is a beautiful setting and the high-speed rail would help with the commute if they need to work in the city. Imagine all there is to see and do in the area. Art, skiing, golf, hiking, fishing, eating local cuisine, Native American and Hispanic culture, Old West history or just cozy up in your beautiful house with a good book and favorite beverage. Enjoying life with family and friends! I'm ready! How about the rest of you!

PatMath on March 13, 2010 at 12:17 am
        • Mmmm….sounds perrrrfect. The winner will be soooo BLESSED!

Myrna on March 13, 2010 at 12:50 am
        • I just hope the winner keeps this gorgeous house and not flip it for a fast buck! That should be a crime punishable by death!!! Better yet, why doesn't HGTV put in the contract that the winner must physically live in the house for 10 years before selling it? This would keep all those only out for a fast buck out of the contest and give more chances to someone who sincerely wants to pack up and move from Salisbury, MD to Sandia Park, NM to enjoy a house they have dreamed of all their life in an area of country that they have always wanted to live but may not get a chance…all for a new beginning!

Sandy Kennedy on March 13, 2010 at 8:15 pm
          • The cash prize included in this year's prize will, hopefully, enable whoever gets the house to keep it. Some past winners were forced to sell the house because they didn't have the money to pay the taxes, etc that coming with winning this large prize package.

Guest on March 13, 2010 at 10:40 pm
          • One would also have to have a high income to keep such a gift. Takes a lot of money to keep up on the taxes of a 1.5 home, live in a gated community, the expense to run the home, etc.

I hope the winner uses much wisdom with their gift and chooses what is in the best interest.

Auntie on March 13, 2010 at 10:46 pm
          • I don't think every past winner that has sold, wanted to. If I won, I would live in it until I sold it. That would COMPLETLEY break my heart to do so, but there's no way I could keep it. I am a student with another 3 years of schooling to go before I become an RN. If you use all the prize money towards the taxes, you still owe about $200k-$250K. Even if you took out a loan, you would pay about $800 per month per $100K borrowed. Lets not forget you have to factor in the yearly taxes on the house, which someone else blogged breaks down to about $1,400 a month. If you borrowed $200k, you would owe about $1,600 plus $1,400 a month. That's $3,000 a month, just on the mortgage, and property taxes.

Misty on March 14, 2010 at 10:53 am
          • Wow, what a silly thing to say Sandy. Punishable by death? You have got to be kidding! Not many people could keep this home, and the ones that could might not want to leave THEIR home. New Mexico might not have the jobs required to live in this house.

Gee, what a sweet women you must be to write such drivel. Anyone that wins this house should sell to the highest bidder, and live where they WANT to live. Maybe like where their family lives! Duh!

I hate to say this, but I hope someone that really appreciates the opportunity HGTV is giving to someone to have THEIR REAL dream home wins this. I guess that would not include you, huh?

Debra on March 14, 2010 at 6:24 pm
          • Think about lottery winners: they may win a million bucks but at least half of it goes to taxes. The entire $500 thousand will go to income tax and think of the electricity bills and property taxes after the initial winning. I know I wouldn't be able to afford that kind of cash! I would keep it, but I would probably have to rent it out sometimes.

Chelsea on March 14, 2010 at 6:55 pm
          • what are you, new? Nobody can be required to live anywhere, for any time, never mind ten years. While I sympathize, in concept, it sounds good, but in reality, things could change for anyone at a moment's notice, making it necessary to move. I, myself, WOULD move there and stay there! LIfe can unfold anywhere! However, if some freakish circumstance necessitated moving, I would.

Guest on March 15, 2010 at 12:30 pm
      • Actually, whoever wins the 2010 Dream Home package worth $ 2 million dollars will have to pay 25 % automatically to the IRS. So, the Federal Income Tax for $ 2 million dollars is $ 500,000. In other words, the winner won't win a dime. In fact, depending on which state you win this prize in; you'll also have to pay a state income tax or luxuary tax; which can go as high as 10% or more. So, before you can even accept the keys to this house, you might have to pay an additional $ 200,000 in taxes. I wish HGTV would give future potential winners $ 750,000 and make their entire package worth $ 1.5 million. That way, the winner will be able to have some money of their own.

Spirit on March 14, 2010 at 9:24 am
        • Are you sure about the 25%? I thought the mandatory IRS withholding was 20% which would be $400K with an estimated $50K for insurance, 1st year's property taxes, HOA dues, etc. In any event, HGTV did well to be so thoughtful with the extra cash….

anne on March 15, 2010 at 1:53 pm
    • Do you really think the winner will find out on Monday as well?

Cyndi on March 13, 2010 at 11:24 pm
    • Sandy Kennedy, Would it really be a crime punishable unto death for someone who did not have the extra $250,000-$300,00 that would be needed for the income and property taxes and Assoc. fees etc. to sell the home and fullfill their dreams of getting out of debt, helping their family financially, be able to do volunteer ministry work and meet the needs of those whom they are let to do?????? I sure pray not.

      Michele with 1 L on March 13, 2010 at 11:32 pm
      • I agree Michele with 1 L, even if my husband and I both worked full time for a year saved every penny, and sold our current home we would not be able to come up with the extra to pay the taxes that would come due April 15 of 2011. I would love love love to keep it, so perhaps what we need here is tax reform!

        love_n_life on March 13, 2010 at 11:38 pm
        • Thank you Love_n_life. I would also love, love love, to keep this georgeous, perfect home, especially since we do not have one for we gave ours up to go into the ministry. But I know someone whether it be the winner or someone who would buy the home will have all their needs met in a home that they would need. Hummm, except I would put a whirlpool in the MBR tub. Just soaking without the massaging water does not do it for me. He He

          Michele with 1 L on March 14, 2010 at 12:34 am
    • They can't give us that bit of info they want all TV's tunes in to see. Oh the wait it has been exciting but oh so nerve racking. Best wishes to all.

You always come through for us and repeating the drawing process was perfect as, I have seen a few questions on it, again!!! I can't wait to see if it was mailed or an online entry. Still exciting after 10 years!! Love life by living green and having a dream!!!

  10. Blessings on the winner! I can't wait to see the tv coverage. Really hope it is either someone I know or someone in my own Southern state! Thanks HGTV for giving us a reason to dream and to take pleasure and delight in it. Again, many blessings on the winner of the most beautiful home!♥

    Mary E. on March 12, 2010 at 9:48 pm
  11. Rats….want EVEN MORE information Gail!!! On-line entry or mail…..which won? How exciting!! I'm home if y'all still wanna contact me in South Carolina!!! Can't wait to see location of next HGTV Dream Home also!!!

Shannon on March 12, 2010 at 9:58 pm
  12. I usually try not to speculate and disect, however I watched the video again. After Gail explained the process a bit, Gail said "last year Jim Samples got to push the space bar to select the winner" My question is does that mean it was a physical bin this year, because Jim supposedly picked the winner this year too, but Gail said "last year" in the video, so what do you all think? Congratulations to the mail in person if they won. : ) It wouldn't be me. : (

Cami on March 12, 2010 at 10:02 pm
    • I was just thinking maybe she just stated that because she was there and witnessed it last year.. Maybe she didn't witness it this year.. But it did look like it was picked off the computer this year from the picture posted..

Michelle on March 12, 2010 at 10:13 pm
    • Usually Gail's blog entries are put up a week or two or three after she actually does them. I guess they have to go through some kind of an internal approval process. She probably created this video blog before the winner selection event occurred for this year.

      dreamn_again on March 12, 2010 at 11:23 pm
      • Thank you, I didn't consider that.

Cami on March 13, 2010 at 3:05 am
      • I believe she looks at all the blogers and sees a common question, and tries to answer it. I believe she just made the vedio, and want's us all to feel confident about the process, as well as a deserved update. Who knows maybe the winner is still unaware, and is about to be picked tonight, or tomorrow! After all it would be almost impossible to keep such a big secret from getting out to the general public, especially the blogers!

cheryl on March 14, 2010 at 12:20 am
    • I was thinking Mr Staples first year with HGTV started a year ago and that might be a reason why it was brought up how he got to choose the winner.

Auntie on March 13, 2010 at 2:52 pm
  13. Oh… I want to work for HGTV!!! It sounds Like a blast… sneaking up on people…blind folds…blessing people! What fun you guys are having while we all can't sleep! Thanks for the updates, HGTV you Rock! Good luck all! I have family coming.. I will be checking in late at night after my company goes to sleep. I will miss you guys..

La on March 12, 2010 at 10:02 pm
    • I caught the part about the blind folds too which was I think was not mentioned on last years video. Plus, the part about knocking over the mail in bin in this video VS. if last years was a mail in I thought was said that Gail would "Jump In" the bin. So even though it looked like Jim got winner off computer, maybe he didn't? Well, guess we will find out in tonite!

      Michele with 1 L on March 14, 2010 at 5:59 am
  14. Why are they just simply reviel the winner by now. What is the big deal to hold it as secret? I bet they ambush the winner already. Why it is a secret ???????

Tatyal on March 12, 2010 at 10:03 pm
    • The advertisers who sponsor the dream home want to get another viewing audience for television show exposure of their products and ads.

      dreamn_again on March 12, 2010 at 11:24 pm
      • That makes sense! Can you imagine the many millions that will be watching the show Monday? Then, to advertize all the quality products that went into the Dream Home. Yes, great exposure.

Myrna on March 12, 2010 at 11:39 pm
    • PLus! After all our excitement over this since Jan.1, I think it would be a let down if they just told us on this site instead of all the facinating hoopla that goes with it for our entertainment on the Winners Revealing Show. Plus, for the benefit of the Night of Honor, "The Winner"! HGTV thank you for generous gift to the winner and for making their dreams possible and for giving all of the rest of us the opportunity to keep dreamin with the next giveaway prize.

      Michele with 1 L on March 14, 2010 at 6:05 am
      • Problem is the winner has already been chosen and notified. The ambush already happened and they are just showing the fil. Unfortunately some people do not realize that the winner is chosen and Monday nite is not when they might win. HGTV does not make this clear so people will watch Monday nite when they have no chace of winning. Why do this to people? This is just mean!!!!!

Betty Bowden on March 15, 2010 at 3:23 pm
        • How do you have this information that the winner gets notified and ambushed prior to the actual evening of announcement? Just wondering.

Eleanor on June 17, 2010 at 10:44 am
  15. that is really exciting and really scary i'm just wanting to know who win;s this. the winner is truly
blessed . this is going to change someones whole life in one day and that is just amazing .
truly a godsent. i hope i am on the upper end of that deal.

YASMIN LINDSEY on March 12, 2010 at 10:04 pm
    • If you haven't been notified by now you haven't won. Monday is just a big commercial

Betty Bowden on March 15, 2010 at 3:25 pm
      • maybe it's a LIVE broadcast??

        Ann W. on March 15, 2010 at 5:10 pm
  16. I still think I have a chance. I hope! Thanks Gail! Sooooo excited…

Michelle on March 12, 2010 at 10:08 pm
    • You have no chance. The winner is already chosen and notified. It was picked back on March 2nd. Five names were chosen and I am sure they do background checks on these people to be sure they can afford to keep this house and have no blemishes on their background. You just find out the winner. If you haven't been called by now you aren't a winner

Betty Bowden on March 15, 2010 at 3:27 pm
  17. Good luck to everyone who entered. I keep looking out the window hoping to see hgtv vans lol, anybody else doing that still?

Dream Weaver on March 12, 2010 at 10:14 pm
    • hahaha, I do that every time I hear a car pass by. There's a daycare nextdoor and we're on a private road, so I get a lot of butterfly moments. tehehe, it's so cool how in love with this house everyone is!! I've never seen so many people come together over something!!! Good luck to you too, keep looking, you never know, they might actually come!!!

EJC on March 12, 2010 at 10:25 pm

Myrna on March 13, 2010 at 12:01 am

MontanaGal on March 13, 2010 at 12:05 am
    • I have passed that phase, not too worried or anxious…..but ready to hear the door bell to ring or hear a knock!! I would definitely not be one of those people that you can hardly tell if they are really excited!! I would win for Everyone and all their dreams. I would feel like I had been crowned the QUEEN!!

Nature lover on March 13, 2010 at 12:11 am
    • Not only listening out for the door bell, but repainted my foyer walls a few evenings ago.

tesserandreve on March 13, 2010 at 6:47 am
      • You pooer thing. If you haven't heard by now you didn't win. Monday night is just a notification to us of who already won. What a rip. Get everyone's hope up to watch Monday nite when you didn't win.

Betty Bowden on March 15, 2010 at 3:31 pm
        • Don't have pity for me. I am on spring break and the foyer painting was to be done anyway and how do you know that they will not choose to do the reveal and ambush live this year! Many are not expecting that and most everyone who is able plan to be home for the special tonight. There may still be hope for us who want to believe, so let dream. I will still be moving to the southwest after my husband retires in a little over 3 years. Best wishes to you and yours.

tesserandreve on March 15, 2010 at 7:17 pm
    • You betcha Dream Weaver, (nice nic btw, one of my fav tunes). Not only that, but I've got perimeter video cams and sonic sensors……they won't get me by surprise…..;)

      Ambush the "ambushers"…..lol

roscoe p coltrane on March 13, 2010 at 4:41 pm
    • LOL Last evening, I was looking out the window for dh. He had to work overtime.

The deck sliding glass door (ugly) blinds is typically open so we can watch the outdoors, critters in the area, cars passing by, and make sure our plants get the sunlight. Then, when I go to the kitchen, try to get the natural light to come in there, too. So…I can look out that direction as well. We have a neighbor across the street…she's better at boloing than myself.

Too busy to hgtv bolo. In fact….someone had to remind me when the date was for the revealing. I must have rusty boloing skills taking place.

Wishing everyone a wonderful week…with/without hgtv vans surprising you.

Trish on March 13, 2010 at 6:34 pm
    • Nope, I live in a high rise…. My windows and doors overlook the water, so I can't see any cars arriving. So, it would be a complete surprise for us, though I am sure that chichi (our dog) will notify us of someone's arrival….. I think the first few years of entering, I was so excited, watching and waiting, but now I am more passive.. But, should I win, you will truly see my excitement…. no worries…. I would be excited, thrilled,,,, tongue tied ….. googling over Jamie ….. and completely appreciative!!!

reneelovesgreen on March 13, 2010 at 6:52 pm
    • Yes I am still looking. : ) I keep feeling that I should have seen something by now….some slow driving car with a smiling face looking at me as they pass by…..but I haven't yet…..I fluxuate between being excited, and feeling disapointed…..I share the same thoughts as Trish though…..

I wish everyone a wonderful weekend and Monday……with/without hgtv vans surprising you. ; )

Wishing on a Star on March 13, 2010 at 10:05 pm
    • Ive pretty much stopped jumping up to look out the window, but I do have to admit that with the posts this morning about Jamie Durie possibly coming for the ambush, I've spent most of the day out in the yard cleaning up! I know the odds are that he or anyone from HGTV will not be here; but its a beautiful day finally, no flooding rains, lots of sunshine and my yard needed major work after all of the wind lately. Besides, if I did win, I think I would be horrified for Jamie Durie to see my Outdoor Room that way :)

WHinFL on March 13, 2010 at 10:31 pm
    • if you read the rules of the sweepstakes you would know that they dont "ambush" the winner until march 14th (tomorrow) so everyone still has a chance. good luck!

    • All day from about 11:00 AM until about 2:00 AM I sit in the front living/dining area at a table with my computer on blogging and Message Boardering while they can fully view me through the open view window. Maybe they will video me on the computer blogging to you all if they come to ambush me? I try not to always look out so they can surprise me! HE He! P. S. That was 2 A.M. in the morning! I am a night owl! What a Hoot!

    • I will admit I have been paying close attention to the vehicles that go by. It would certainly be a dream come true for anyone who wins. It would truely change my life and those who depend on me since it would not only help me but many others too. It's so nice to see there are so many optimistic dreamers!! Good luck everybody!!

Carol on March 15, 2010 at 12:38 pm
    • lol…a few days after the drawing we had a helicopter circle our house about ten times and then even hover in front of it. Both my husband and I got all excited thinking it had to be them. We still have no idea what that was about, but the winner has surely been notified by now.

      Brenda F on March 15, 2010 at 5:28 pm
    • Just a half hour left and yes I keep looking out the window. Last year while we were watching and waiting, my husband snuck out the kichen door and creeped around the house and knocked on the door 1 minute before the showed the winner. The kids and I started screaming and jumping up and down thinking we won!! It was a very cruel joke…lol

  18. After listening to the video of how they "Choose" a winner…it's SO RANDOM…why bother spending TIME in the HOME listening to all the vdeos looking at all the photos and tours and blogging…I think if you have not spent some TIME here you should honestly not be in the TOP MIX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's just my opinion.

crystalstar on March 12, 2010 at 10:15 pm
    • No one can earn this dream home by spending time doing those things that were not written in the rules. I believe the process in choosing a winner is very fair. It gives all of us dreamers a chance in being that winner. No one should be excluded. Just waiting for the unearned and grateful blessing to be revealed!

      Mary E. on March 12, 2010 at 10:33 pm

MaryJane on March 13, 2010 at 1:35 am
    • I think whoever needs it most deserves it…besides, it's random and that makes it fun!

Lauren on March 14, 2010 at 6:18 am
    • rrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeeooooooooooowwwwwwww ! my,my how "catty" !! sounds like someone is getting a bit agitated. Perhaps this is the problem with certain bloggers who think they have "exclusive" rights to being considered as the winner of the HGTV Dream Home, Please. ANYONE & EVERYONE should have the same chance at winning this contest as the next person. Whether you are well to do or of modest means should not come into play. Just because you have ample time to "blog" your day away doesn't mean everyone else has the same luxury.

tbonell on March 14, 2010 at 2:57 pm
      • Thank you tbonell. I agree. I have one computer and several full time students in my household. Plus Jobs. Not everyone can sit and blog. All entries should have a fair chance. GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE !!!!!!!!!!!

        tru2hgtv on March 14, 2010 at 5:01 pm
      • It should be fair and IT IS FAIR……again, this is not a contes! Everyone has the same chances of winning. Good luck to all of us!

    • Excuse me but I have a several year love with Disney's Alice in Wonderland. I have performed at Walt Disney World as the Mad Hatter, designed a clown character inspired by the mad hatter, decorated my dining room in an Alice in Wonderland theme and drink from a Disney Alice in Wonderland tea mug. I am the one person I know who deserves a house with an Alice in Wonderland themed playhouse and you say I don't because I haven't spent enough time on HGTV website. I live HGTV I don't need to desperately grasp others ideas on how to do it. But today as I am nervously awaiting the ambush yeah I am constantly checking the website.

    • Crystal….you should be ashamed of yourself. I guess you will compain the loudest with Sandy of course, that you didn't win. The things people say about the winners each year are horrible.

Good things come to good people. Remember that.

Debra on March 14, 2010 at 6:34 pm
    • I think it doesn't matter if you are a blogger or not. We all have a shot and we all have a shot in hell. Whoever wins will deserve it no more or no less than anyone else in my opinion. Some people want to enter and might not even have access to a computer on a regular basis. What if the person works two jobs and has kids or doesn't really know how to blog because they are older….

Heidi on March 14, 2010 at 8:54 pm
  19. Sounds like a fair way of picking a winner out of all those cards and e-mails. I guess we won't know until Monday just how close to the deadline they actually do the ambush…..this year. Don't forget to set your clocks ahead this weekend!

D in Mass on March 12, 2010 at 10:15 pm
  20. Does the winner already know? Do you tell them before you make the announcement. That would mean I am no longer in the running. How sad! I so hoped to start over after just retiring. A place to paint, and breathe easy, with bucolic views and weather I could love and in which I could florish. I have seen so many others and mostly we have the same story; decades of hard work, looking for a dream come true, hoping for a place where loved ones would take a delight in visiting……………………….dreams are powerful things…………………

    J LaLone on March 12, 2010 at 10:18 pm

Lisa DeWitt on March 13, 2010 at 2:44 pm
    • I have wondered myself how much time elapses from notification to broadcast. I'm sure HGTV doesn't want to send a camera crew to an empty house, so they must set things up beforehand so it isn't really a surprise when the cameras are rolling.

    • Good luck Dya! But if your family doesn't win maybe you have a space in your home like a section in the basement that could be sectioned off inexpensively that you could call your own. But if not, maybe you and your sister could work out a alone time schedule for each of you in your own bedroom. Good Luck! But remember alone time is important but so is quality together time so you can bond and make memories together.

roscoe p coltrane on March 13, 2010 at 5:59 pm
        • Trail Boss Roscoe! You are funny! I wasn't referring to "long little doggies"! Dogie is a term cowboys used to call motherless calves in the Old West. Comes from the Spanish word "dogal" referring to the rope used to keep a calf away from its mother when she was being milked. The reason there were so many motherless calves was that Mexican longhorn cattle then raised in Texas were not milkers and therefore allowed to roam unsupervised. many calves were separated from their mothers, especially if they had been weaned or were old enough to be weaned… thus a lone little dogie!! Ha Ha! How's that for cowboy trivia!

Meanwhile back at the Campbell Ranch in Sandia Park a beautiful dream home is waiting for some blessed soul to take possession! Good luck to all anxiously awaiting dreamers and bloggers! P.S. I will definitely pass on the giant arachnids!

I will decide when I sing and I think that will be sometime on Monday. Stay tuned to see. It isn't as exciting you say, well you know nothing. I am just as excited as when I decided to enter in Dec. of 09. In fact, I know so much more not than I did then. I know something about each of you , well almost. I keep lookin' towards my front door and think that every vehicle that passes by is a possibility to be "The Team". ??? We all are just hopin' ….which is such a great feeling. Blessings to all!!!♥♥♥

    • What is it mail in or online I did both .again this year best to all good luck.

      Tamara2 on March 13, 2010 at 2:45 am
  33. Since the time zones are all different in each area, we will all be watching the same reveal at different times, a 1, 2, 3, hour difference whether standard, central , or pacific, time. Depending on living in what time zone, is whether there will be an ambush or not, other wise you find out live, but it will all be seen live on t.v………I Guess??? They probably do a check on people with in 5 days after the reveal. This is all my guess?? And also 1st whether drawing will be by mail or internet.

debbbie on March 12, 2010 at 11:18 pm
  34. With over 40 million entries, I have came up with a super brilliant idea! If HGTV collected a ONE DOLLAR per entry fee for Dream Home 2011, think of how many dollars could be donated to charities such as Rebuilding Together or Habitat for Humanity! This fee could easily be accomplished using Pay Pal for the online entries, and entrants wishing to mail in entries could be issued little stickers to be placed in the lower left hand corner of the envelope or postcard! With all the revenue collected, think of all the homes that could be built for lower income families! Plus one lucky person would still win the Dream Home! Any comments on this brilliant idea of mine?

    • If they took money, it would change from being a sweepstakes to be gambling, which has much more legal baggage to implement, and not everyone who enters now would…

      dreamn_again on March 12, 2010 at 11:34 pm
      • Could it be donated… Like how American Idol did it or American Red Cross??? by clicking a box or text messaging a certain number???

La on March 12, 2010 at 11:57 pm
    • I think that would be Great to do that always help other people in Need….

    • Keep giving more free stuff and nobody will work, I work my ass off for every $$.

Mike on March 14, 2010 at 1:08 pm
    • What if the person who is trying to win a dream couldn't because you put a money restriction on them, which make unable to participate in a chance of a lifetime..I AGREE it not a sweepstakes at that point, it is merely a way limit entries and to extort money from individuals who may or may not be unable to pay…Maybe we should leave charity donation to such groups who are organized for such a purpose. Don't get me wrong I believe people should help people, but not in this way. Other wise it changes the meaning of "sweepstakes"

Dale on March 14, 2010 at 1:08 pm
    • Well the $1.00 would have to be optional as it would turn a sweepstakes into a raffle and the rules would be much different. But I do agree that would sure be a nice way to bring millions of dollars in to help those in need.

      Good Luck everyone!!

    • I think this is a great idea! It brought a tear to my eye. I hope HGTV is able to implement it.

Kathleen on March 15, 2010 at 8:51 pm
    • This idea is great, they could also find away for the winner to be able to keep the home as well. I read somewhere that almost every winner has had to sell their dream home because of having to pay fees or something…that is sad.

mary on March 15, 2010 at 9:04 pm
    • Great idea! I would certainly buy a chance to win for a $1, getting to make difference at the same time is a nice bonus.

Angi Thoele on March 15, 2010 at 11:11 pm
    • One year HGTV did take money. $20.00 per person to be exact to bus groups in to tour the DH. They said half of ti would go to charity. If I can find the story, I'll try to post it here. They may still charge visitors, don't know.

Observer on March 17, 2010 at 5:10 am
  35. I'm still in dreamland. I looked up the weather conditions for "our" beautiful DH and it's clear and 47 degrees with a 50% chance of snow on Monday. I just finished watching Throw Down with Bobby Flay. He was in San Antonio, New Mexico making a green chili hamburger. San Antonio is just south of ABQ. Seeing the green chili immediately put me into my Sandia Park zombie mode…twitching head, drooling slightly…frantically running back and forth to the window…where is that van?

    • OMG You sound like me…..lol! I am having so much fun, how about you?

      • Yes. I love this blog. I've never been so "hooked" on anything like this, as if I have a little too much time on my hands, which I don't. I have tons and tons of work, projects, etc. It really has been fun to hear all the different thoughts.

        Andie/printmaker on March 13, 2010 at 12:45 am
    • Every time my mild-mannered black lab goes to the front window to growl and bark this week I've stopped whatever I'm doing to run see what's up! Goofy, huh! In Colorado we called the green chili burgers "sloppers"! Yum Yum! I really think they will hire a local production company to film the ambush. What do you think?

PatMath on March 13, 2010 at 12:07 am
      • Sloppers….that sounds really tasty. Regarding the production company? I haven't a clue. :)

    • Too cute, I bet that describes 99% of us! I am hoping that van is in Orlando… :-)

  41. This is TRULY incredible!! I've never had the "heart" to take a chance, nor had the inclination to "TRUST" that a contest, such as this, would ever be the "answer" [so to speak] to MY "Dream Come True"…DREAM HOUSE COME TRUE, that is. Until, OF COURSE, I had the blessing [and chance] to see HGTV's Dream House Contest.
Honestly, my fiancee and I hadn't really watched any of the HGTV programs until about two to three months ago, when we "FINALLY" opted for [and could afford] a DVR with which to record and watch MOST of their programs – hence, we are TRULY addicted NOW, and actually watch JUST HGTV programs, whenever we aren't asleep or tending to either the kids or our tiny apartment.
Needless to say, [WE] FELL HEAD OVER HEELS in LOVE [AGAIN]…with the HGTV 2010 Dream House, as well as with ONE ANOTHER!!! THANK YOU HGTV…my faith in "DREAMS" has been restored; hence, I haven't stopped DREAMING of living the rest of our LOVING days and life with the boys in that HEAVENLY home…OUR fingers are crossed!!!

  43. It would then turn into a raffle. There is another cause that sells tickets to win a house for donations to their charity.

  44. Quotation from the movie "Waking Ned Devine"

Narrator: Saturday evening, and the universe is much the same as at any other point in the history of the world. The planets and stars orbit and spin, and do everything that is expected of them. On earth, as the sun sets, millions prepare for a weekly event that is much less predictable. In sixty three countries around the world, dozens of lottery machines spin hundreds of lottery balls. It takes seconds for the winning numbers to be selected… seconds for the losers to realize they've lost. But for the winners, it is an event that will undoubtedly change their lives forever… lucky sods!

  47. I thought I would post my final comment reg. the HGTV 2010 Dream Home. I have been so excited about this giveaway every since I found about it around mid February. I have toured the Dream Home everyday on line and feel like I have actually physically been inside of this beautiful home. I just love it as I know most of you do. The all on one floor plan, garage, beautiful colors, open floor plan, decorations, location is just the total best. I am dreaming constantly about this Dream Home as many of you are. I am in it to win it and keep it. I am so very ready to receive it and start a whole new life in NM. Just the fact that everything is all new and different is so appealing. I think the builders and decorators hit the jackpot on this Home. This is it——- the big weekend we have all been waiting for when the winner will be announced and then it will truly be over for those who didn't win because we have been looking forward to the end result for so long. I want to say GOOD LUCK TO ALL WHO ENTERED. I am believing & dreaming it is me and I am in "anticipation count down".

Janet on March 12, 2010 at 8:28 pm
    • I can relate to all you said. Believe it or not I actually had a fortune teller tell me how many children I would have how many miscarriages, that my life would have many hard trials and tribulations and that with my strong faith that God would carry me through to my earthly reward of a very rich blessing to become wealthy and enjoy a good life Well she was right on all counts up to the last part. May the dream home will bring the final prediction to reality. LOL! (side note..this old woman said she was born on a Haley's Comet and that she was going to leave the earth to return to heaven on the next Haley's Comet and she did die of natural causes the night of the last Haley's Comment at a ripe old age.)

Yungkate on March 13, 2010 at 3:35 pm
      • I myself think fortune tellers give people false hope and that their powers do not come from God as they say they do.

        Just my opinion.
