The Winner of Monica’s Wrap

Good morning, bloggers.

I have some fantastic news to share with you: One of our blogging friends won Monica Pedersen’s beautiful turquoise wrap. A very happy congratulations to Janice Vegas. I know that you will wear the wrap with excitement and style. I know all of the bloggers will join me in happiness knowing that one of our friends has a sweet memory of HGTV Dream Home 2010 to cherish forever!

And hopefully we will have something else to celebrate next week. Watch the giveaway show on Monday night at 8 p.m. EST to find out who gets the home, the SUV and the cash. Will the winner be someone from our blogging community? Only time will tell.

Your Super Fan,
Gail

        @StephenWNagy on March 12, 2010 at 8:22 pm
        • I just received an email, found it late Wednesday afternoon, and opened it with the inkling that it might be the shawl. Next beat or two, I had a what if moment, but then I snapped myself back to reality. The winner is yet to be revealed.

Janice Vegas on March 13, 2010 at 8:48 am
    • Does anyone know if the winner of the house has been notified yet?

    • I woke up this morning with an idea. Would't it be great to enable each of us to have an opportunity to stand center stage and have an opportunity. Perhaps we submit photos or share a story or poem, like what Heritage did with the Haiku. Each one of us deserves a moment of being warmed in the wonderful southwestern sunshine. GOOD LUCK this weekend for the HGTV DREAM HOME

Janice Vegas on March 13, 2010 at 9:29 pm
      • I think this is actually a terrific idea for the future, and hope that each one of us has an opportunity, to have a small venue to submit pictures and tell our stories. I think every one on this blog is wonderfully unique and special with amazing stories to share. Tonight I offer a special shout out to all my friends who we have not seen in awhile, and to my friend RJMstone– we are all missing you, and hope that all is wonderful in your neck of the woods. Please stop by and let us know how things are going.

      Janzee/Janice Vegas on April 7, 2010 at 10:36 pm
      • Janice, what's with the name change to Janzee? It sounds exotic. I've been extremely busy. Hopefully I'll be joining you again SOON so I can get in on the search for clues. Hope all is well with you and your family.

Lessie on April 8, 2010 at 7:08 pm
        • Hi Lessie,

Everything is A.Okay on the homefront. I have been experimenting with names thinking that Vegas is not it for me with the glitz and razzle dazzle. Janzee it actually a nick that my family called me as a kid short for Janice Zelda, can you imagine. I dont share this with too many folks. I think they were thinking Zelda Fitzgerald. The youngones in the family now want to call me Zel. We miss you on the other thread. Clue number 2 should happen any day and the conversation has covered many topics including canning and trout fishing, states that offer the bee symbol to the many country club communities throughout the country offered by Coop, I love the banter and can't wait to see you when your schedule permits.

That will sure keep you warm on those cool desert nights huh, Good luck Sunday

    Keep dreamin the dream

    crazyinlove10 on March 12, 2010 at 3:46 pm
    • Dear crazyinlove. Your beautiful comment sounds like an amazing crazinlove comment. The shawl is surprisingly warm, although light-weight as it is made in part with Alpaca fibers. For about a year, I have been dreaming of starting an Alpacca farm. You dont kill the animals just shave the fur.

Janice Vegas on March 12, 2010 at 8:55 pm
      • Now that you have first-hand experience of a shawl made with Alpaca fibers, will you pursue your dream of starting an Alpacca farm?

Lessie on March 12, 2010 at 9:06 pm
        • I have been looking into the possibiltiy of land grants on government borrowed land. I would have the animals I love, and be able to offer the wool to world markets to help cloth the needy. The wool keeps you warm, as the turquoise shawl does, and it breaths. This would be quite a good church project.

Janice Vegas on March 13, 2010 at 7:15 am
          • Sounds like an excellent project to me, Janice. How did you the Alpaca become your favorite animal?

Lessie on March 13, 2010 at 5:08 pm
          • Dear Lessie,

The Alpacca is amongst others a favorite, and have been looking at world markets in terms of saleable fibers and necessary opportunies to help the needy. For many years, I never really gifted myself with a coat.not because I could not afford it, I would just borrow others and kept promising that I would buy something weather worthy the next year. Well for two years I have been in awe of a company called Peruvian, the owner whose mom started the company goes to Peru each year and works with the growers and the tribes that live in the mountains. The Alpacca is a hardy creature, and the wool is extremely saleable, so this is where the story begins.

Janice Vegas on March 13, 2010 at 8:40 pm
      • Janice, there are quite a few women alpaca farmers in Maine. That plays into the large community of women sheep growers and women weavers. I have a couple of friends who participate in the yearly shearing. It's a wonderful confederation of women artisans. They even did their own nude calendar a few years ago. Many do felting. My next door neighbor is a glass artist and does the most marvelous huge buttons that are used on felted hats, purses and jackets. The llamas (not sure about the alpacas) are used as gards for the sheep. They are ferocious in protecting their herd. Again, sooo glad your won the wrap. It is perfect for you.

FloridaDebbie on March 13, 2010 at 1:08 am
        • This is quite an intrigueing post. Wouln't it make for a great movie- the whole idea of this Bohemian confederation of female Alpacca growers. They have a language unto themselves, and those animals are remarkable-gentle but like you said defensive.

Janice Vegas on March 13, 2010 at 6:52 am
      • Thank you Janice your so sweet. That sounds like an awesome idea and I hope you are able to fulfill all of your dreams. I am for anything that keeps from hurting and killing animals.

    • Dear Jan_of_FL,

Thank you for the compliment, I would love for all of us to have a center stage op, in the contests to come. Wouldn't that be great if HGTV could swing this somehow. We all have big things to say!!. Last night I saw a few names highlighted from my side in gold and reds. I dont see them this morning. Maybe the web gods were smiling upon various people and you were one of them. GOOD LUCK with all of your dreams.

Janice Vegas on March 13, 2010 at 8:22 pm
      • What a great idea, Janice Vegas. You know, it's almost like HGTV is our babysitter and they are finding themselves responsible for keeping us entertained! Must say, they are doing a great job.

So, that was your reference to the colors, I couldn't figure it out. Just for the fun of it, I am going to go with your theory that maybe the web gods were smiling. Just for fun, do you remember what my color was?

Good luck with your dreams as well!

        Jan_of_FL on March 14, 2010 at 12:50 am
        • Hi Jan_of_FL. Did you ever live in Phoenix by the way. Your colors last night were in shades of gold, and you were the first person along with paperers that were in these tones. Good Luck and Blessings!!!!!!

Janice Vegas on March 14, 2010 at 1:47 am
          • Hi, Janice Vegas! Thank you for getting back to me. It was fun to hear that it was shades of gold. Wouldn't it be fun to think that it meant that I had the "golden ticket?" But, I think that the lucky winner is already chosen, and I am really happy for whomever has won. Wow, the thought of winning that beautiful home is just amazing.

I have not lived in Phoenix, but we have visited my husband's family there. It is beautiful!

Trying to catch up with your posts (goodness, it must be like a full time job keeping up with replies!), and wanted to mention that your ideas with the Alpacca are wonderful. I wanted to tell you the same thing my husband says to me when I want to try something new: DON'T LET ANYONE TAKE AWAY YOUR DREAMS!

Warmest wishes and Blessings to you, too!

  27. The only way I am gonna win the Dream House is if the Lord Himself slips a paper with my name on it, in with the other entries. while the judges aren't looking. OMG! I CAN'T REMEMBER IF I ENTERED! I AM SO NERVOUS I AM BITING MY TOENAILS! I must have entered at least once. I have entered ever since the house in N. C. was built 'cause I wanted that one really bad. Well, actually, I have wanted every one since then, really bad. I do believe in miracles, I see them every day. God, I don't ask for much or a lot of frivilous things, but I sure do need this house, Lord. If it's Your will, I don't want it unless You think it's for the best. And if not me, I know You will pick someone who is just as deserving. We humbly bow to Your Will. Thank you.
Congratulations for winning the beautiful wrap, Monica said it matched the color of the Dream Home kitchen!!! Maybe you will be cooking in it, ya never know.

Faithfulandforgetful on March 12, 2010 at 3:58 pm
    • Probably only in my dreams, but I am suddenly attracted to everything turquoise. I went into Whole Foods Market today, and thought gee I should invest in this rubber clogs to match the wrap. Don't be nervous about winnie sweetheart its a cinch.

Janice Vegas on March 13, 2010 at 1:10 am
      • If you buy them clogs you'll have to take a picture with the wrap and post it on here too! Love the idea.

        Michele with 1 L on March 13, 2010 at 1:23 am
    • Dear Faithful,

I reread your post and thought that if you are biting your toenails, it must be quite a feet. I'll betcha you have quite a partnership in the miracle category with you and your abiltiy to make things happen at the helm. Wishing you all of the good luck, and success. And I dont believe for one minute that you forget anything.

Janice Vegas on March 14, 2010 at 2:03 am
    • I think Wyo Girl mentioned a really cool site called Blog Cabin, I think also hosted by HGTV. I think there is an op to win there as well. May the Lord Bless you in all of your miracles.!!!!!

Janice Vegas on March 15, 2010 at 7:38 pm
  28. Thanks Mary for letting us know who won…I was starting to wonder if it wasn't a blogger- which was a sad, sad thought as the bloggers were the ones who inspired the giveaway.

Janice- I am SO happy for you! It looks so great on you! You look BEAUTIFUL! Are those blue eyes I see matching it? (Or I could be seeing things.) It is a perfect fit…it looks like it was meant for you all along!

Beautiful background…where were the pictures taken?

Oh and to those who think that the winner wouldn't be able to blog and keep quiet about winning the house, Ms. Janice has been great at keeping this little secret…so, who knows maybe a blogger- even a still active one did win the house…and for the record- not me- unless for some reason they haven't let the winner know.

Once again- Janice- I am so TRULY happy for you…it may not be the DH, but it is still exciting and you look great!

adisneyfamily on March 12, 2010 at 3:59 pm
    • Okay- I have to reiterate that for some reason you winning this totally made my day…you deserve it ;o)

I also had to comment that part of your beautiful look reminds me of Lynda Carter when she was younger…funny as I was born in the late 70's and missed her most popular times, but you look great!

Janice Vegas on March 13, 2010 at 5:11 am
    • Hi dizz, point well taken about keeping the secret for winning the DH. I know we are all looking for clues. I opened my Freebie Friday notice on Wednesday late afternoon, and received the wrap on Thursday-spent most of Thurs. taking pics. There were no instuctions in the congrats about not sharing. I think that our winner could be on the blog and would probably be given important instructions for MUMS the word.

Thanks for the congrats dizz, I feel like I am wearing this shawl for everyone, and my grandma Maty. P.S. I think Lynn Cogins had a cool idea. Maybe there could be more giveaways throughout the year, and the winners have a brief bio, or video to go along with.

      • Sorry, I haven't been on for a few days…I kind of lose track when it hits the weekend and I am doing other things. I was curious..are you on facebook or do you have a website for your writing (a different way to get ahold of you).

I bet you had a lot of replies to write on here ;o)

adisneyfamily on March 15, 2010 at 1:08 am
        • Just this upcoming week, my daughter in LA who is a brilliant actress, is going to build a blog or a website for me. I had an idea that was spurred on by by your adventures, and feel somehow that you could be involved. I would like to tell you that there is a wonderful spript contest called Sciptapalooza and would like you and some others on this site to check it out. They are a reliable script writing contest entity, and have connected some recent scripts to Lifetime TV for example. I don't know if it is appropriate to give info, but in the next few months, Lord willing I will be up and running. But maybe we can check with the web gods. I have a strong feeling that the bunch of us will stay in touch in the future and will be blogging, intense debating and vying for THIS DREAM HOME and upcoming.

Janice Vegas on March 15, 2010 at 3:03 am
          • I looked up the scriptapalooza…that is definitely interesting.

adisneyfamily on March 15, 2010 at 4:00 am
          • Great darling, now check out Final Draft, cause you are going to need it to write scripts. Don't pay top dollar for it at Final Draft, but rather there is a writers site, forget the name, but I know if you navigate you will find it, for way less. The new updated version is Final Draft 8. If you get it follow the download precisely, and watch the tutorial first. I say first. before getting to work.

  29. YEAH for you Janice! The wrap looks fantastic on you. It's great to see a picture of a fellow blogger. You look beautiful. I'm so happy for you, what a great smile. Where are you with that gorgeous background?

    K9NUT on March 12, 2010 at 4:01 pm
    • K9NUT, I can't remember a time in my history, that the compliments were so prolific. I would love to send out a compliment bubble to each and every one of you, and tell you that we were all in this together. The photos were taken at the Redrock Canyon in Las Vegas. There are hundreds of miles of protected terrain, verrigated red red rock, and interesting creatures like yellow eagles, mountain cats, snakes all kinds of critters, and well springs that exist in the hottest days of the desert from deep underground springs.

Janice Vegas on March 13, 2010 at 1:16 am
  30. Janice, where did you take that photo? That's an amazing view! No wonder you're so one with nature, you're surrounded by mountains. Just want you to also know – you have a beautiful spirit!

Lessie on March 12, 2010 at 4:01 pm
    • Dear Lessie, the photo was taken at Redrock Canyon, about 20 minutes from where I live in Vegas. The surrounding mountains and creatures that live there are healing. As soon as I get to this air, and the rocks, I feel uplifted. Whereever we are in the country, having a vista or packing up a knap sack and getting to that place is healing. Where are you love?

Janice Vegas on March 12, 2010 at 8:10 pm
      • Vista? Winning the Dream Home is the only vista I'll have! Right now I'm in the midst of politics, between DC and Baltimore. That's why I like looking out my back windows, because the trees, water retention pond, and slight hill are peaceful. The front view isn't bad either, but I like the back view better.

Lessie on March 12, 2010 at 8:30 pm
        • I thought it might be in Redrock area, I'd love to live out that way. Maybe HGTV will do a two-fer on the SW and build one out there someday…

Hey a shout-out to Lessie too….good to hear about ya and glad you're back bloggie buddy!

        • Lessie, I just know that wherever you are you will find your vistas, in the midst of your political endeavors, or in the backyard of the DREAM HOUSE. No doubt in my mind you will! God Bless, and Good luck

          • You're absolutely right, Janice. Can't imagine living without a a place of refuge.

Lessie on March 13, 2010 at 5:20 pm
    • Dear Lessie,

Thanks for the heritage comment. The deeper we look into someone's eyes, we begin to see the connections and closeness we all have from the very beginning. I love to explore the way families begin to interconnect at one point in time. The same mom and dad?

Janice Vegas on March 13, 2010 at 8:31 pm
      • You're right. The one exception I've found is that it may take a while to get past all the barriers to the transparent layers within. It may take years and years and years before reaching that transparent layer and interacting with the person we "think" we know.

Also I've found that families can include anyone who plays a key role in your life. Those are some of the best connections.

Lessie on March 14, 2010 at 3:16 am
        • I am fascinated with the last part of the comment and feel you are correct. Generationally we have changed the word family. It is a curious proposition to see how those barriers may be melted., and it may take time. We have all been through the cracking of the walnut, if you will in an effort to excavate the meat inside the nut.

  31. Here is Janice's winning comment on Design Happens:

Janice Vegas · 2 weeks ago
What would I be wearing mmmm… for the HGTV DREAM HOUSE CREW that pulled up to announce my winning. I picture myself in my writer's garb the usual- on a cool day I usually wear a purple pancho, and lots of silver jewelry, with a dangle of blue stone earrings that I have made. The khaki pants are simple and when I fall asleep at the computer in the middle of a chapter, or scene, I typically go straight to bed in the khaki pants of course. No problems about opening the front door, with a wide smile, some fresh roses for everyone on the crew, some steeped sun tea, but here is the O'Henry twist- I am now wearing the blue pancho perhaps very much like the one all of us are loving.

ConnieMoore on March 12, 2010 at 4:02 pm
    • Thanks ConnieMoore for posting Janice's comment so we can read and enjoy it!

Lessie on March 12, 2010 at 4:11 pm
    • Hi Connie,

It's fun to go back to the things we have said on the blog. I don't think it had anything to do with the comment. I wrote a short note to the team, and they mentioned that I was a computer generated selection. I would love to think more, but alas it was pretty straight forward just as the winner of the HGTV HOME will be.

Janice Vegas on March 13, 2010 at 1:19 am
  32. For all those who think the winner of the Dream Home will stop blogging or tell everyone, not true! Janice continued to blog and encourage us without saying a word. The same could be true for the winner IF they have been notified.

I am so encouraged! Today is indeed a great day!!!

Lessie on March 12, 2010 at 4:05 pm
    • Funny- both your comments and questions to/about Janice sound like a ditto of mine ;o) Are you back from all of your trips?

adisneyfamily on March 12, 2010 at 4:12 pm
      • That's because we think alike, adisneyfamily! I have another trip the last week in March. When I return, I'll begin working on a one day writer's conference on June 12th and a personality training workshop on June 14-16 in Columbia, Maryland.

Lessie on March 12, 2010 at 4:23 pm
        • Maybe you are the winner than… One can never know until the 15th…. ;o) or adisneyfamily? hmmm…. to ponder.

La on March 12, 2010 at 8:05 pm
          • It would be great if I'm the winner. Or if adisneyfamily, you, or another blogger wins because it means the bloggie bash is a go! If a blogger wins, are you coming to the bloggie bash?

Lessie on March 12, 2010 at 8:34 pm
          • I am learning this blogging thing…You can teach this old dog a new trick or two? What is a blogger bash and when is it?…Lessie, also tell me more about what you do: I am a trainer and positive speaker… I understand you write as well. How can I get started. Okay, win the dream home, use the office space to write, use the money to get a book published… but what if I don't have the cash? Ideas and thoughts? Thank you!

La on March 12, 2010 at 9:26 pm
          • A blogger bash is a party we'd like to have if a blogger wins. Hopefully, it will be the same weekend the winner sees the Dream Home.

I'm on staff with CLASSeminars dot org. We have a writer's conference every year. It will be in Abiqui, NM again this year, not far from the Dream Home. We also train speakers. The Personality Workshop teaches speakers and writershow to effectively reach the different personalities in their audience.

Also, I do BSF (Bible Study Fellowship) and have been a leader in it for many years. Check out CLASSeminars dot org and see if you would be interested in what we offer.

Lessie on March 13, 2010 at 4:11 am
          • Hi Lessie, Thank you for your conference info. I use to be in BSF also but not as a leader. I think it is the VERY BEST Bible Study there is. If there is anyone who wants to learn the Bible in a way that they will learn it, understand it, and remember it this is the study you would want. I think it's available in most states in the USA. Thank you Lessie for your faithfullness in all that you do to serve others.

adisneyfamily on March 15, 2010 at 1:11 am
        • Are you an author Lessie? If so what kind of book do you write? I'm an aspiring author that had written a Childrens Bible/Devotional book that I need to find a publisher for. Plus some other works that I need to continue to work on. Do you teach writing at these writer's conferences?

          Michele with 1 L on March 13, 2010 at 1:08 am
          • Yes. I love inspirational writing. In fact, I'm in the process of writing a book on forgiveness. Is your Children's Bible/Devotional book completed? Have you written a proposal yet? CLASSeminars dot org offers a one day writing class, a more intense three day writing class, and a super intense writer's conference where you have the opportunity to pitch to editors. Also, classes are offered in different locations.

Lessie on March 13, 2010 at 4:24 am
          • Yes, Lessie, my book is completed. I even had my sister do illustrations for it which are really cute but she is not a professional and I was told alot of publishing companies like to use their own illustrators which would be fine with me. Yes, I did write a proposal for it many years ago when I thought it would fit in a children's Family devotional section but at that time there were not many in that area. Since then, all of these Children's Bibles have been published and very successful and in looking at their set up I discovered my book was set up perfect as a children's Bible and it unique from the others. Back then, I did get some good feedback from Focus On The Family and Questar . I am ashamed to say that I have not continued to pursue the finding of a publisher because of getting other things taking up my life. But I do believe God gave me this unique book of which I believe can turn into a series and that He wants me to pursue it this year. This was going to be my next priority.

Lessie on March 12, 2010 at 8:36 pm
        • I like your prayer the best kid. My hubby and I went out to Redrock Canyon, and spent hours trying to get the right shots. In short I was a version of Lucille Ball, primping, adding make-up, looking at my mug in the mirror, and trying to get the "right" angle for the sun. In short I really got into it. A little nervous at first, I kept telling my hubby, the photographer that I was not particullay happy with the shots. He took 100 pictures, and by number 98, I started to relax and so enjoy the warmth of the wrap and being outside. We found an offroad secret area, almost like undiscovered land- this is where the best pics were taken.

    • Dear debbie, thank you humbly for this compliment. I would be saying the same thing to each and every beautiful woman on this site. My hubby took some good pictures- at least 100, with me saying " move the camera up, don't get that side, stop! At one point, the passersby at the loookout area began to giggle. They looked at us with humor, as I was trying to get just the right angle, and flapping my blue wings and squawking.

    • Dear Wyo, thanks for the compliment, I am excited for me, and for all of us as well. I would love someone on this blog to WIN. I did not swear to secrecy, or cross my fingers or click my heals, The Freebie Friday was a random drawing according to Chad Parizman, the Guy- this is what the little not mentioned.

Janice Vegas on March 12, 2010 at 7:46 pm

        Michele with 1 L on March 13, 2010 at 12:52 am
        • Michele with 1L, there was a separate entry for the wrap on Freebie Friday several weeks ago. In order to enter the contest you had to offer your email address and then answer the question- What would you wear to celebrate ,when you found out that you won the HGTV DREAM HOUSE. My entry was picked at random according to the email I received and not based on anything I had said.

Janice Vegas on March 13, 2010 at 7:47 am
  40. Hip Hip hurray!!! I have noticed that you have been blogging a little more than usual and of course being very positve and calm. When did they notify you? and how? Details, details, details, that's what we want to hear. You really are lucky to have won something from this program. Maybe this will start a new trend to give away a few things that have some significanse to the DH or GH. I had mentioned how much I liked Gail's necklace and earring set – Gail, how bout it? So happy it is a blogger and that it is you.
    CONGRATULATIIONS!!! Sandy

SandyLA on March 12, 2010 at 4:51 pm
    • Dear Sandy, I agree with you and love the idea of more HGTV giveaways throughout the year. Details–A little congrats notice must have come in on Tues., but because I have so many emails, I usually go straight to the blog responses because I love communicating with the group. I discovered the email on Wednesday, and received the gift via Fedex on Thursday. Opening it up was a wonderful surprise. The wrap was tied with an almost invisable polka dot bow, and the first thing I noticed were two beautiful cards from Monica and Gail- those two fantastic kids. The message from the girls conveyed one for all of us- "keep dreaming", There were little stars in Gails envelop with a big smiley face-they fell out all over my lap and felt like those stars in Sandia had just given me a pocket full of starlight. Good luck this weekend and may God speed!

Janice Vegas on March 12, 2010 at 7:35 pm
      • Janice , you really do look beautiful in your winning wrap and I love the three pictures with the different expressions. Have you ever modeled before? You make a great one. But I expecially can see the beauty within you that really radiates and explodes on the outside for all to see. I am so glad you won the wrap and good luck on winning the dream home. Plus, I think it was so cool how they wrapped up your wrap for you with the stars. So Cool!

        Michele with 1 L on March 13, 2010 at 12:49 am
        • I can only tell you Michele, that as I read your compliment twice, I had to hold my breath because I have not heard this since I was a young woman, and I can say that I am very humbled and grateful. I would mirror back this joy to you. I acted professionally years ago, and studied film tech/prod at UA, and then suddenly realized that teaching special needs kids was where I wanted to be. Fifeteen years later, I picked up the camera again and decided to become a producer. I even took classes at a community access station to refresh in south Florida. The girls at the HGTV office, prepared a beautiful package-the best is yet to come, and know that the winner will have such joy with this home. God Bless, and Good luck to you.

      • I'm still catching up here … I'm only on page 2 so far, and your fingers must be moving lightning as you respond to all the comments here, which is so very kind and considerate … Your descriptions are wonderful as I visualize the pocket full of starlight that have rested softly in your lap and remind me of a favorite poem of mine, "Good Night, Ryohei" by Susan Casey, a gifted poet and college instructor who lives in Seattle. Enjoy!

The stars are cool and distant,
        dream options
        for a long, luxurious sleep.

        You look at them. Find
        the one that is
        your namesake. And your
        friends'. And
        mine.

        They are not close together.

        In fact, you wonder
        how much distance lies
        between one and another,
        between you and them.

        They were there yesterday,
too, when you didn't see them,
        they were there
        for thousands of years

        and when you're eighty
        you will see them
        just as clearly,

        the familiar if indistinct
        form they make,
        their lopsided yet constant
        presence.

        Both_sides_now on March 14, 2010 at 6:38 am
        • Dearest Both_sides_now,

Yes my fingers have almost taken on a life of their own. I read your poem, "Good night Ryohei" and immediately became interested in the author's history. Thank you for bringing this to us. I thought of my grandmother whose star I can see twinkle on a bright clear night, and a friend that I have loved very much. The star spoken of reminded me of the love I had for gram, sometimes I shape the image of that lopsided star through both hands, but its bigness doesn't balance, it seeps through and can not be contained. The wind is whipping here in Vegas close to the mountains, and cold as a blizzard. It was such a good night to read this amazing poem, and feel that star light all around me, you, and the HGTV blog. Your love of poetry brings tears to my eyes. Bless your vision, and GOOD LUCK. I hope I am not sounding like a fortune cookie, but I mean it.

  44. I swear Janice is in my backyard….Snow Canyon? Springdale? Ivins? Can't wait to hear where she is.

    B Jill on March 12, 2010 at 5:25 pm
    • Dear B Jill, I am at the Redrock Canyon in Las Vegas Nevada, at certain times during the day some of the mountains cast an opal shadow on the landscape. Photographers and artists come out to spend days with the art of the area.

Janice Vegas on March 13, 2010 at 1:28 am
    • Hi B Jill you probably already live in the DREAM HOUSE. Where are you?

        • What a surprise to see you sandwhiched between a friend from weeks ago. When I read you this morning it was almost like seeing a time traveler…here's why. Late last night I went back to the thread to look for some of my old friends, perhaps write them a message to see if they are still on the site in a new carnation, or rose or something. I have some company, I will check back with you when they leave, I wanted to address your beautiful question Stone.

  48. hope there is no power outage monday nite .will be interesting what state the lucky winner resides in …..,how soon will the 2011 dream house be announced as to what state is chosen? I think OREGON IS a good choice up around BEND OR SISTERS is beautiful country.

vivilori on March 12, 2010 at 5:46 pm
    • I completely agree. I love the area around Bend, but its being high desert as is San Pedro, they may not do that environment again so soon. There hasn't been one in the midwest. Maybe on one of the Great Lakes? I can't seem to log in, so I may not be able to respond right away.

FloridaDebbie on March 13, 2010 at 1:21 am
    • Hi vivilori … this is just a hunch, but I'm speculating that the HGTV 2011 DH may be sited in Oregon (Columbia Gorge area, Portland/Dalles), or Idaho, Montana or Wyoming, somewhere near the Lewis & Clark trail. Why? I noticed in one of the bloggers' photographs of the media room that a video presentation about Sacajawea was visible on the monitor. I also saw an artbook about Mark Rothko, a mid-century abstract expressionist, who spent his growing up and early art years just outside of Portland, Oregon. His mature works emphasize the artist's interior spiritual experience and longing, and are also subtly influenced by his interest in Native American and Northwest art, and the geographic landscape where he grew up. And as you said, the area around Bend, Oregon and Sisters, Oregon is beautiful country … so you may be on to something! ~ Still dreaming to live out all my dreams ~

  50. IS HGTV surprising the "winner" this weekend, right before the show airs on Monday?

Dana on March 12, 2010 at 6:11 pm
    • I'm thinking the winner already knows because they would have to know to be home and have filmed it for show time. But, maybe there is still hope that they may not know.
