Your Perfect Day at HGTV Dream Home
If you won, what would your day look like? Super Fan muses today, just to get the conversation started. I’d probably take a morning hike through the desert that surrounds the home, come back and whip up a late breakfast, sun myself on the Casita patio, head out for a shopping spree in Santa Fe and then come home to host a huge house party – hip-hop music blaring, folks dancing and Dream Home margaritas overflowing.
What about you? Come on, folks. I want you to blow up this blog post – let’s shoot for over 1,000 posts before the giveaway show airs on Monday evening at 8 p.m. EST. Be creative – I will be reading.

Gail – what a perfect day you have thought about. I too would get up and have coffee in the sunrise room watching the sunset. I don't think I could sleep in because I would be too excited. I would invite all my friends and family. I would love to just spend the day exploring the area. We could take a hike on those beautiful trails. Then come back and have a backyard barbecue. I personally like the margarita idea. To end the evening, I would soak in the beautiful tub while sipping a glass of wine. sigh…..
It sounds like we are one mind. lol
I agree! I put sunset but I meant sunrise.
It's all good,lol
Dreamin Til The Last Minute
Yea…I'd have all my friends over I'll tell you that. How do we know if the winner HAS been ambushed yet? or not?
If I had won the house, the first day would include a discovery adventure going thru the entire house just to a find all the wonderful things. I would certainly spent that evening on the patio just relaxing and maybe grilling. Then off to the master suite for a soak in the tub.
The next day would be a cooking experience in the fantastic kitchen. I love to cook and bake. All that room would be perfect.
But I guess I will just have to dream.
you are invited too………………………
i am packed and ready to entertain my 10,180 friends here in cincinnati at the dream home open house i will throw- than race off to climb the terrain around it- remember everyone is invited when i win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't have much of a choice about how to spend the first day in the dream home. The puppy (chihuahua), no matter what time it is, comes in, licks my DH's face, and says it's time to go OUT! NOW! Then everybody gets fed — cats, pup, humans — and a quick walk for Princess (the pup) to leave her "mark" on everything possible. Then I'd go walking through the house trying to find the perfect place for my workroom — I do machine embroidery and quilting — then choose a spot (probably at the other end of the house) for DH's "stuff". He'd spend the rest of the day installing his computer, TV, lounge chair, books, and all the detritus of a long engineering career in there, and probably try to figure out how to grab another room or two for all his "stuff". I'd be arranging my stash of fabric, six sewing/embroidery machines, computer and my things in my chosen room — which would have a fantastic view of the surrounding neighborhood. Now the hard part would be deciding which would be more lovely – a morning view or an afternoon view! The cats would explore the house, looking for the perfect place to take a snooze, and the puppy would take over the entire place, as pups tend to do. We'd have to have a party for the family, and let my daughter and her DH and the grandkids decide where THEIR rooms would be for when they visit and let them start to put their imprint on those rooms!
After that is done, another walk through the neighborhood would be perfect before dinner. Altogether, we would have a lovely, lazy day staking out our "spaces", and just wander into the kitchen and family whenever we were hungry and help ourselves to the spread of goodies waiting to be devoured. My daughter and her husband would be in charge of that, since she's a much better party-planner than I am!
ALL OF THAT SOUNDS LIKE MY FIRST DAY SPECIALLY THE PARTY WITH ALL MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY. BUT I KNOW THAT FIRST MORNING WAKING UP IN THAT BEAUTIFUL HOME I WOULD PROBABLY PINCH MYSELF AND WHEN I AM SURE IM NOT DREAMING I'LD JUMP ON THE BED LIKE A BIG KID CRING AND THANKING GOD FOR SUCH A DREAM COME TRUE
I was thinking the same thing …. pinch myself, jump on the bed screaming "I WON….I WON" !!! then run around in my nighty taking in every room screaming…. "I't's mine, It's mine" !!!! Then call all my friends to come over & PARTEEEE !!!
Congrats to Myra, I will baking cookies & bringing them to the housewarming party.
I think that the first thing I would do is faint!!! My God, …something this good could never happen to me. I would call the whole world on that first day and invite everyone over, and…..maybe I still would not be able to believe it!!!
Gail and Lisa, This would be a DREAM of my lifetime! You both have made such an exciting entrance to the day! I would have to sit and gaze in each room and pinch myself to see if I was the true glorified winner of this fantastic house. I would spend the first day inside the house just enjoying all the beauty and smells encompassing my new surroundings with my husband and pooch.
CONGRATULATIONS TO MS LEWIS !!!!!!!!!!!! MAY GOD CONTINUE TO BLESS YOU WITH MANY MORE MIRACLES.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree with all of the above…Explore the town by day and barbecue by nite… Lot of family, a few friends and a major "sleep over" because no one would want to leave! I would wake up the next day…make a nice pot of coffe and a lovely breakfast and sit out on my front porch and watch the sun rise! Is this Heaven????
Well Mary you didn't give us much to work with as your plans sound perfect to me the only thing I could add is watching my children play and see their eyes all in awwwwwwww.
Oh Mary – I do so many of those things you said, and definitely invite you to the party. First things first – I'd donate all that canned food in the recycling room to a local food bank… and change the photos in the photo frames to friends and family. Hope to see you soon. Audrey
Sounds good to me…nothing could top this total package except to see great satisfaction on my children's faces…total awesomeness in an instant….Still dreaming in Georgia

i was crazy in love w/ the 'dream home giveaway'. i'm from new orleans & evacuated to columbia, s.c. to take refuge from hurricane katrina. i lost every thing like many others but along with that everything was about 20 years of my art work & work that i collected. my art work that was not lost was stolen i was able to salvage 3 pieces that are on my facebook page. it's now been almost 5 years & i'm living in a 1 room efficiency apt. i have not been able to paint using my oil because of circulation problems. its very depressing at times but i have to remember how greateful i am to be alive & have my mother alive.
one thing for sure its been a real shock to be homeless or moving so many times, something like 6 times in less than 5 years. so yes i was so in love w/that beautiful home in new mexico. not far from one of the largest artist colonies in the u.s.thank you grace coleman 1art3@bellsouth.net
i would paint and enjoy the beautiful sun rise and sunset.
thank you so much for listening.
Yes I was crazy in love with this house too. But it was just a dream and the best thing about dreams are they can continue if not for this house for the next one. One thing no one can take away from us are our dreams.
Yes Hurricane Katrina was such a devastation for so many but as you said you are grateful to be alive. Though your apartment may be small you got out with the most precious thing which of course was your life as sad as it was many who didn't. Things can be replaced but not your life so please continue to count your blessings.
I paint too so I do understand about ventilation, perhaps you can take your painting outside on a nice day and paint all the clouds away.
With our art and our dreams and our hearts filled with hope and faith anything is possible.
Good Luck
Keep Dreaming
Oh my….where to begin?I believe I would start by sitting in the sinrise room and enjoying my coffee and just looking out the windows to the beautiful sun rising and plan my day…..I think i would retreat the master bath and soak in the bubbles,,,,,I might stay there all day??/just not sure, then again I may drift into the entertainment room and enjoy a nice movie before I wonder off into the grand kitchen to fix a feast for my family……And I think I would retire in the Casita just before I sit outside and enjoy the beautiful breese……Oh my,,,,Im just not sure where I would begin…….so many thoughts as to where?????
Thanks for the new blog! I would definitely wake up slowly with a huge mug of mocha in the sunrise room and then into the kitchen to make some huevos rancheros for my son and myself. We could go have breakfast out on the back patio. He would then want to go play in the play house for a while while I work on my photography. Then we'd bike over to the community center and go for a swim. Then back to the house to get lunch and prepare food and drinks (Dream Home Margaritas, Lindtinis, wine and beer) for a great night with lots of friends…then do it all again the next day
I've been quietly reading the blog every day (as well as virtually exploring the house!) and dreaming about how magical it would be to walk into it for the first time. That experience could only be outdone by actually waking up there the first morning! I would wake early with the sun and let my husband and baby sleep in. I would make my coffee quielty and go out to the patio to breathe in the morning. I bet the sounds and smells of the morning desert are incredible. When everyone was up I think we'd go for a hike with our camera, binoculars and wildlife book. I'd love to begin capturing the landscape (and my family in it!) The rest of the day would be walkign through each room and marveling! Then we'd begin preparation for family and friends to come help us bless our new house/ new life!
and the next day, and the next day and the next day……
WHinFL,
Lindtinis……..explain these if you would, I'm not familiar!
Let me see………root word: Lindt……. I understand that part! How does, "…tini(s)" come about?
Please share!

Okay! Now that I'm enlightened, I would GLADLY be your 'Free-of-charge Bartender'……..I'd make sure that your favorite beverages were awaiting your return from the Community Center!!!
My reward would be a visit to a most wonderful home on a 'Perfect Day!'
You're on!
YUMMMMMMMYYYYYYYY! Around for all of the bloggers!!!!
Absolutely! They are on me if I win
Sounds like a wonderfully, delicious day!! I know that the artistic photography in New Mexico is amazing!! Yummmm ….. Lindtinis….
New Mexico is definitely a place I'd like to photograph more whether or not I win the Dream Home. However, if I won that house I'd be able to set up my own dark room which would make it that much better!
Now I am with you on that. I could get lost in that house.
Gail, your day sounds so perfect I would probably do something very similar, so here goes — up at 5 AM for a 40-minute walk with my 3 dogs; back home to feed them and get my morning tea started; sun salutations in the sunrise room; putter around in my garden for a while; after a quick lunch, off to the boarding stable to ride my horse; back home to let the dogs out and feed them again; a quick nap before starting dinner plans. If friends are coming over and it is warm and dry I would recruit my husband to grill something while I made some sides and dessert and set the table out on the patio, where we could sit out and enjoy the evening; otherwise we would eat in the dining room and then watch the views from the great room as the evening progresses. Later perhaps we would watch a movie in the media room, and after everyone leaves off to bed in that tranquil master suite! What a dream day in the Dream Home — the lucky winner is definitely in for a treat! Thanks, Gail, for letting us dream just a little while longer!
I love the fact that your horses are your babies and that they will travel everywhere you go. What kind of horses do you have. I love Apps
I have one very old and retired Appaloosa gelding and one Tennessee Walking Horse gelding, who is my riding horse. I also have one overly plump and spoiled miniature donkey who is my old Appaloosa's companion! Of course all would accompany me if I moved to New Mexico (much to the dismay of my husband!).
I know the dream house is getting snow today. I can see it snow on the Sandia's from my house in Albuquerque. If I got the house it would be like a dream vacation for me. I would soak in the large master bedroom tub and spend a leasurely day exploring the house or sitting in front of the fire place reading a good book. My friends and family could spend the afternoon in the theatre room watching old videos……
Hey Tracie, Even if it is snowing in Sandia, I would still have to walk outside. I have never been in the western part of the U.S., I have always lived in Ohio. This year was an exceptional year for snow – we received foot after foot of it and my poor husband and his bad back had to do battle against the elements on a daily basis. I could not help because of health issues too. I've never walked the desert nor seen the beautiful western mountain ranges. So, I could not resist spending some time outside of the wonderful Dream Home taking in the views snow or no snow.
While I didn't think that far ahead (Thank God because I obivously didn't win), I know what I am doing now….holding back the tears of disappointment, tring to be happy for and not hate the winner of the beautiful home that should have been mine. I just hope the winner will appreciate all the talent, creativity, and inspiration that went into that home. I also hope they appreciate the beautiful scenery of the 5 mountains they will see. I hope most of all, that they will live there and be happy….not sell this gorgeous house for a fast buck.
Oh, Sandy. You shouldn't hate whomever wins. How sad. Why should the home have been yours more than anyone else's? Do you deserve more than others?
This is why I'm surprised every year that HGTV builds THREE homes to give away. I hate to see the hateful remarks start as soon as the winner is announced. It happens every year and it is sad, so sad.
They build 3? I know about the Dream Home and the Green Home. What is the 3rd?
The Blog Cabin
The Blog Cabin? What is this and when do they do it?
see my post right before yours… good luck to you!
I see Thank you
Thr cabin
Aww no one should hate anyone for winning!! yes its sad when its not you but it means one person less in the drawing next time, and they where ment to have it… I am sad too but I am sure it is someone who truely needs it!!
Who said she hated who ever wins. She was just stating her feelings. That's what you all get upset about , when we don't let people express their feelings! You can't win with some of you. That's why this blog dets so depressing at the end of the Sweepstakes!
Now, Debra, I didn't say I hated them…please read more carefully. Since u do not know my circumstances…….what makes u think I might not deserve it just a little bit more than most. Until u walk in my shoes………..That what happens when people don't read carefully..they make inaccurrate statements trying to make themselves the better person.
I don't see anywhere that I stated I hate them. Who are u to judge me? How do u know i don't deserve it just a little more than most. U havecno idea what my circumstances are. !
thank u Patricia since Debra can not obviously read…just likes to jump to conclusions…and I was stating my feelings, dreams and hopes….
Hi Sandy! Thanks for the good laugh. 40 MILLION entries but this beautiful home as you say "should have been mine". Really? This may or may not help prevent certain sorrow for you in the future. There will ALWAYS be someone smarter, cuter, thinner, wealthier, healthier, prettier, funnier, taller and happier than you. There will ALWAYS be someone uglier, fatter, poorer, dumber, shorter, sicker, less confident and more unfortunate than you. I hope you can find some peace and happiness. I think that's why Gail is asking us to "dream". If we all blogged about our reality no one would enjoy reading it.
You are a terrible person, but I'm not sure why you feel the need to hurt some one , just because you are not perfect!
Andie, I don't think you are terrible at all. Great statements — there will always be someone on both sides of your situation. Thanks for trying to put things in perspective, even if some people don't "get it."
You're very sweet. I didn't want to feed the little troll. lol. Also, I think you and I must have ESP. I was just about to send a post that I thought you must have won because we hadn't heard from you in such a long time. If you did win I am so happy for you.
Don't I wish! I took a couple of days off because the blog was getting a little tense. Some trolls were personally attacking some blogger friends, and a lot of new people were asking the same questions that we've all been discussing for months, and I didn't want to "start over". Of course, I probably just created more tension by a couple of my new posts. I better work on my attitude — maybe a Margarita would help!
I'll drink to that!!!…hic…..hic….
Did someone say "drinks"……you pouring Wyo_ Girl????
Saddle me up to the Bar……;)
Sorry Andie…. not everyone is going to like all the comments on a blog…….and since u obviously can't read or u would know I don't hate them……nor did I say I did.
Thank you Sandy for your thoughts. I CAN read. Did I say you hated anyone? NO. I said thank you for the good laugh. That was based on your comment that the DH "should have been mine" (yours). You sounded so upset by it all. I was letting you know there will always be someone more fortunate than you as well as less fortunate. Please re-read my previous comment. Have a nice day.
Sandy, thanks for sharing your honest feelings. I'm sure you're not the only one who feels this way. That's why I gave you a thumbs up. Although you're disappointed, I love the way you chose to bless the winner with positive words. Thanks for being so transparent.
I want the first copy of your book on forgiveness. You are the soul of kindness, lovely Lessie.
DebbieFlorida
You got it! When I get it, you'll get it.
Add me that list Lessie…..forgiveness is a quality we all need more of….;)
thank u Lessie….I wish the winner the best…I am sure they will love that gorgeous house. Why do people try to put words in someone's mouth and then slam them for saying what they THINK they said. No where in my comment did I say I would hate the winner. Geeeez.. I bet I won't write anymore comments here…..where do the adults write their comments?
i vote thumbs up too! I know exactly how u feel. though i'm still hoping they show up or did they already pick winner?
The winner has been picked almost two weeks ago. HGTV doesn't say exactly when the winner is notified so its a surprise to them, and doesn't publicly announce that the winner has been surprised until the end of the tv show which is set for Monday night.
What do you mean that they do not announce on tomorrow's revealing show that the winner has been surprised until the end of the 30 min. show. Isn't that what the whole show is all about? Especially since it is only 30 mins. wouldn't they start out with their ambush surprise announcement where ever they did it first and then go through all their questions for them?
They could do things differently. In the past few years, the usual format of the show is to show you the dream home in a condensed fashion, with short breaks of video clips of the ambush team saying they're on their way, they're getting closer, showing a small video of the selection process without revealing the winner yet, breaking to another clip asking do you recognize anything, then showing a few minutes of surprising the winner, then they'll only ask a few obvious questions and save more questions and answers for online videos, posted later in the week…
The winner is not announced until the end of the show. A good strategy for keeping the viewing audience until the end of the program. Otherwise, people may turn to another channel if they didn't win.
How do we know that the winner already knows? Isn't it supposed to be a live surprise?
We don't know. Only HGTV and the winner knows, if he or she has been ambused. We won't find out until tomorrow night. Personally, I don't think the presentation is live, but I could be wrong. Right now everyone is giving their personal opinions. Like all of us, you have an opinion too. Go with your opinion until the winner is revealed tomorrow night.
It definitely wasn't live last year. Anyone in the eta time zone could tell . They didn't time the setting sun quite right.
i agree with you if the winner sells it for a quick buck i'm going to be pissed, they should appreciate it
I am sooooooo sorry for you people who just DON'T GET IT!
I won't be, kaylen, as the winner has the right to do whatever helps fulfill his or her dreams. Why do people think they have the right to tell others how to live?
Indeed….well said Wyo_Girl…! Two mouse clicks up!
I know how you feel I had some things to do today and I didnt want to leave the house… just because i was hoping i was the lucky one to get a knock knock on the door
Im about to break down into tears i had my heart <3 set on this house it was going to change my life completly. Im torn at the idea that i didnt win but im trying to think positive and hope that its a live show tomorrow and that i MIGHT still have a chance.. i think its better if i stop thinking about it i just cant stop looking at the pictures and thinking of waht i would do in every room!!! AHHHHHH Congrats to the winner im going to get offline!!!
Hey Sandy they sure were lucky! LOL you go girl spill your heart out !Next year!
Hope you get over to the blog at the cabin were putting together a guilt that we'll givin to the winner, last years was very nice. The theme is farm anything, you can send in material or make a square.
Congrats to the lucky winner. Hope you have a fast sale, because afterall, ALL the previous winners have sold (some faster than others). The First Time Homebuyer credit is valid for a few more months (Maybe Congress will extend it again??) Again, Congrats! Enjoy the $$MONEY$$
Hey Sandy Kennedy , my heart is in pain for the ones that are hurting so much ,for not seeing their hopes and Dream come true to win the DH,…….but , I feel your statement was just a figure of speech , sorta like , how Mothers will sometime say, " your Father is going to kill you when he gets home" even the child knows she doesn't mean he is really going to kill them, .just another way of saying he is going to be upset with them… you are just upset, understandably , and didn't mean you hated the winner, .Right? Sounds , to me with your love for Beauty and Creativity you are going to be fine…… it will take a little time for all this adrenaline that has flooded through everybody these pass few weeks to level out , but, it will, and we can get excited for 2011DH, someone has already said it may be the one we love the most. Chin Up , OK, Hug to you , *AliB
Yepper on that one Ali B……
Hugs to Sandy Kennedy! I used to tell children….to hate someone, you have to love them first. I think it is just disappointment in not winning that gets to many. Not the person…just the sense of loss. It IS a beautiful home. Have you noticed though, HGTV keeps making the next Dream House even MORE spectacular! I have to agree with you that the talent, creativity, and inspiration of this home is simply amazing! And the mountains? Sounds like you have had the opportunity to see this area…how blessed you have already been!
Lift your eyes to the Mountain, and continue hoping in that which is True for you.
Wishing everyone an opportunity to feel happiness for the winner. We never know what shoes the winner has worn and walked in,or, may have to walk. Many heart felt warm wishes to the winner.
How do you know you didnt win?
I thought the ambush was live on march 15th 8/7 ct.
I thought it was live as well! I guess they have to make sure someone is home if they incurred the expense of traveling to reveal the winner. We've all had fun with the what ifs. The house was just my style, so if nothing else I got plenty ideas!
I don't think they sell for a "fast buck"….well maybe in a way….I'm told by my financial friends that that is the best thing to do or the taxes, etc will eat you alive….and I'm sure one reason $500,000 is given to you to help with all that…also, did some research on past winners….out of the 9 Dream Homes given away, only 2 still live in them…most sold because they couldn't afford the taxes & upkeep on the homes, not to make a fast buck….and lets face it, most of us on here can't afford a $3 Million dollar home or we'd already be living in one….sooooo to those who are upset about "not" winning, it may be a Godsend….lol….
What a lovely thought. What to do what to do?
I would wake up whenever I wanted knowing my husband is finally retired after working 45 years. We'd make coffee together and laugh because we would finally be free. Free from the bills, and free from the constant hassle of running a business and having so many families depending on us. We could finally relax and remember what brought us together 33 years ago. Life, work, and kids sometimes gets in the way. It would almost be like falling in love again with each other and with New Mexico.
We spent three weeks there this past fall, and loved the Santa Fe area. There were trees there which reminded us of our East Texas home. I don't think we could live without trees.
We'd have that coffee in the sunrise room and plan our day. We would walk the area or do nothing. That would be fine as long as we did it together. Always together. Dreams do come true. If not this year, then another. I think I'll start that dreaming today. Now, where's that husband of mine. <wink>
Love your post, Debra. Your thoughts of just spending some time with the one you married & love is all the gift/suprise I need this time around. GOOD LUCK WITH EVERYTHING, & may the LORD BLESS YOU & YOUR HUSBAND, ALWAYS!!!
What a perfect day, Debra!
Debra, I am so with you! I am 65 (in 2 months) and what a wonderful place to spend the rest of our lives! New Mexico is beautiful and what a great place to have family and friends join us. It would be one of the "highlights" in my life.
My husband is finally retired also. This dream home and it's location would change your life We have never vacationed out west but that is one of our goals. Hearing you talk about the Santa Fe area and East Texas sounds wonderful. We live in Ohio – always green in the spring/summer and usually cloudy more days than not. So, SUNSHINE would be a wonderful change. It would truly lift your spirts, the ever changing sky, the desert, the mountain views, the stars at night and, of course, 300+ days of sunshine.
I would wake up in the new house and enjoy a cup of coffee on the patio> I would breathe in the fabulous New Mexico air, crisp and dry, I would reach down and pick up a handful of the earth to bring me back to my roots. Maybe take a walk and listen to the crunch of the dirt underneath my boots. My friends and family (who live in Albuquerque) would welcome me home at a wonderful dinner prepared in my new kitchen. We would spend time discussing our homes, families, changes, and challenges since last seeing each other. Then I would soak in the tub while having a glass of wine, listening faintly to the chatter of my happy children running through the house. Thanks for the fantasy, Gail!
Well we would probably spend most of the day screaming and then going into the turquoise kitchen, and take out a turquoise cup to heal our sore throat.
Then we would walk our dog and have her get used to the surroundings.
I honestly don't know what we would do because the dream sounds so far fetched, but I personally would take a long shower in the casita and scream some more
yes screaming… and jumping… and screaming some more!
I see myself not being able to stop smiling………so much that my my jaw would hurt from smiling .I'd go for a super long walk with my dog….and my boyfriend…….and like many of you…..make coffee and drink it outside watching the beautiful scenery…..and smiing some more… just being thanksful for such wonderful luck! WOW can you imagine?????
I know I'd do most of the wonderful things mentioned by many bloggers, but the first few days would be just like yours….shreeking and eeking and drinking tea to calm the throat. It would take days and even weeks to get settled in with all the nooks and cranies to explore, eeking all the while with each new discovery of a hidden treasure in some drawer.
Btw um is that a laptop in the casita on one of the drawers next to the bed I see a black thing that looks like a laptop.
I don't think so, but there's a laptop in the home office.
Looks like it could be a DVD (or Blu-Ray) player for the TV…
Iv'e been sitting by the door all day waiting for the crew to come all day. i hear my dogs parking but their just parking at the cars driving by on the street.
the pictures of the sunsets do look very pretty.
You could make a million bucks with dogs that can park cars! Then you could buy your own dream home!
HA! HA! THAT WAS A VERY FUNNY OBSERVATION!
i ment barking*
barking*
The first thing I would do is pinch myself to make sure it was all real. After coming to grips that this is reality…my husband and i would make breakfast in the big kitchen. Then enjoy the entire house and take our two dogs for a walk. We would probably begin sightseeing on Day 2.
How can they be sure that the winner is going to be home at 8PM Daylight Savings Time on March 15? Do they tape whatever is shown on Monday night at an earlier time/date? Do they tell the winner to be home because they are comming? Is it really "live"? I would like to read comments from others with the same question and concerns?
I personally don't think they have contacted the winner yet but I could be wrong! I think that with todays tech they could very well surprise someone at the last minute they do it all the time on Publishers clearing house. So I think they could do it live. i know that there has been a lot of negative comments on this blog but I will not and refuse to listen to any negativity!! I guess you and I wont really know until they either show up or see it on the show good luck, god bless ya!!!
I read the rules and it said "on or about 3/14" that's today !
Yea…that's today. Its 3:00 our time…. and no Melissa, we REALLY won't know until we watch tomorrow and see who the winner is…obviously, if the show starts and you get a knock on the door….holy cow.
I thought one year they notified 3 or 4 people that they were "in the winner group" but that they would not know until 8pm which one was the 'REAL' winner. That way there is still the element of surprise but they can be sure the actual winner is home waiting. Sounds reasonable doesn't it?
Wouldn't that be SOMETHING??? Just sitting there watching HGTV and the doorbell rings. It would be my luck to answer the door and it would be someone selling something – not giving away a DREAM. Oh well, I will be watching and I am sure you will too.
And the "or about" is the key words. I hope too they haven't ambushed yet but they do give themselves plenty of wiggle room.
But I also agree, with today's technology they could do most anything.
Dreamin Til The Last Minute
I'm right beside ya there gal…….I'm a hopeless romantic and Dream House hopeful…..
Yep I can hardly wait. I have goose bumps just anticipating the winner here in just a few hours. That is when I will stop the dream on this one.
But Keep Dreamin On The Next One,lol
oh my gosh! i didn't think of all that stuff!
Me neither! So I can still have hope…maybe???? Probably not <<<sigh>>>! My 4 y/o is bummed-said her house is boring now and wants the way better one with the dolly house in it! HA!!!!
Anything is possible in today's world! I am waiting anxiously for that knock on my door! I can not wait to move to New Mexico – and start a new life in the most gorgous house I have ever seen! My husband is just retiring and I can not wait to explore every nook & cranny in the house. My two granddaughters (4 & 6) will love to come visit and our son has lived in Phoenix for 10 years and we only see him maybe once a year. Now I can have my entire family in one house without worrying where I will put everyone! And entertain !!! Oh my gosh! Coffee and a good book in the sunrise room, cooking breakfast for everyone, exploring the property and settling in for our first night by a cozy fire. This is going to be heaven on earth! I can hardly wait!!!!!
That sounds nice Carol crowther. I'll be waiting on that knock as well.? If it's you….I'll shout out a big "Congratulations"!!! Ok? You are right in writing that….. "Anything is possible!!!"♥……
Sadly, I feel that the winner is already chosen and knows that they have won. And guess what, it is not me!! BUT maybe I am wrong and they actually will be knocking on someone's door at 8PM Eastern Time. Maybe I should wash my hair and dress half way decent because it could be me. You need to do the same because it may be YOU!! Anyway, I know I will be watching tonight to see who the lucky person is. GOOD LUCK!!
It was all a surprise to recent winners and the expressions are real. Yes it is live but the minutes might be off a few for the tv crew and commercials.
Last year's winner was ambushed the Monday before the Sunday that it aired.
I'd like to know how that works too! I haven't seen any strange trucks around my community! But I've been looking!
I couldn't wait to start my day in that beautiful kitchen, with a cup of gourmet coffee and after my first evening in the master suite with the en-suite bath. I'd sit in every chair in my new home, nap in every bed, marvel at my win and just be happy. I'd explore my incredibly peaceful surroundings and be so thankful for such a beautiful dream. Thank you HGTV for this adventure. Blogging has been wonderful and I've read blogs from beautiful people. May God bless each and every one of you.
Coffee in the Sunrise room to view the… the… sunrise! With a fire going in the fireplace.
Breakfast in the kitchen. A slow hike around the property taking absolutely everything. (Repeating daily… cause I know I'll miss ALOT!)
Lunch in the kitchen. A nap in the great room… Wait… no… a nap in the foyer! Yeah… with a fire going!
Then, a party with:
Music playing through out the house.
A dinner in the dining room.
Conversation on the back patio.
(Intermission) A sunset viewing on the Casita patio. (End Intermission)
Return to the conversation on the back patio.
And Rock Band 2 in the media room!
Oh, Rock Band 2 — that would be fun!
Loads of fun! Working on the guitar solos for Night Rangers songs. Never realize just *how* good they are! (Course… I'm a drummer… not a guitar player. :p )
I think the winner knows before everyone else does … Somehow they are contacted and maybe some preproduction work is done to tape their reactions etc. I am in the military and it is impossible to pull a surprise visit without some surveillance and cooperation from those that have won. What happens if they show up and there is no one home? Do they cancel the announcement show?
They normally surprised the past winners in advance, so they'd have something to show on time for television. One scenario was to do it first thing in the morning as the winner was about to leave for work. Another scenario was to do it at the winner's place of employment with a little help from their supervisor or manager. Other times they had someone close, relative or friend, invite the winner to an event, and surprised them there. Some of those were on the same day as the television announcement, some were televised a few days later.
the rest of my comment is below, it was too long.
Later that evening I'd cozy up with a nice book in the seating area outside the master bedroom and read by the fireplace. I'd also maybe choose a good family movie for all of us to watch in the Entertainment Room. My children loved the house as well and reminded me daily to login and enter. The only time I could not is when my dad passed away in January, however they still reminded me.
While I fully believe that the winner knows as they usually do the ambush ahead of time, I just wanted to comment on your post that it is possible to surprise someone…even on a military base and I have seen it done with other things- on military bases…public affairs is great with coordinating and once they are able to obtain the unit information (public affairs-not HGTV) they are able to get the help of the chain of command. So, in answer to your post…the cooperation does not have to be of the winner…HGTV can not do it alone, but they can do it with the help of the military. Seperately, if you read the 2002 winner's interview on the HGTV website, they were able to set up an elaborate ambush at the police station that winner worked at in which the winner had no clue ahead of time…though I am guessing it was still filmed prior to the air date.
Your response is very realistic and probably true. I have thought of those same issues you mentioned and I think that HGTV will have to plan this whole thing in advance. So, if what we both think is true, then someone else has won but I still want to watch and see the excitement. The only bad thing is the dream home won't be part of my dreams anymore. But, it sure was nice thinking about it and viewing it on my computor over and over and over again.
There is always next year! No?
OK… that was the fantasy.
Reality…
I'd probably be laying on the floor looking up at the ceiling in complete shock and awe!
Take one scene one. Everybody on set, lets do that shot once more. We loved the way it looks but want to get an EXTREME CLOSE of usenterprise
I should probably shave… LOL
Looking good. Roll the CAMERAS
Can I borrow the turquoise wrap… (Congrats, by the way!)
(OK… really… I look better in black!)
Yes you can borrow it. usenterprise, your husband is going to shave, and you can wear the wrap for the cameras.
Actually, my wife! LOL
You can both wear it, at the same time. Make a tent and camp out.
How bout REO speedwagon they are good friends of mine. Probably get them to do the bloggers bash
My perfect day would be waking up in the Master Bedroom and watching some tv for 10 minutes until I woke up. Then I would go into the master bathroom and put the Bathrobe in the warming drawer built into the cabinets and I would take a relaxing 30 minute shower. After, I would put on the robe and some slippers and walk into the AMAZING kitchen and make some breakfast, probably eggs/bacon and toast and eat in the sunrise room while I looked at the beautiful sunrise. Then I would hang out with the family and bond for a while. Then I would go into my master closet and put on some southern clothes and go out to town for lunch/shopping in my new car!!! I would invite everyone in town and throw a HUGE party and cook for everyone outside in the outdoor seating area. After everyone left, I would discover all the luxuries and relax, then I would blast my favorite music as loud as it would go and dance around in my underwear, (stop laughing, you guys do it too!! hahaha) After, I would take a walk under the stars and then go to bed in my cozy room!! ahh, so nice to dream, huh?? good luck guys
hahahaha
This sounds like fun, EJC, but I have one question. What in the world are southern clothes?
I forgot about the warming drawers!!! wonderful….getting out of the tub into a cozy towel.
I got this image of EJC dancing in his "warming drawers"!
hahaha, Wyo_Girl- Southern clothes are just cowboy boots and stuff, I don't really know what I meant. hahaha, CaSSandra Smith- too funny!!! If I win, I promise I will film that and post it on the blog! jarjer- that was the first thing I thought of once I looked at the master bath, I'm so excited to see who won tonight!! GO BLOGGERS!!! WOOT WOOT!!!
I would love to jump out of bed and watch the sun come up in the sunrise room with a cup of coffee and my husband still sleeping. I would enjoy the peacefulness of the morning. Making breakfast with the kids in that big kitchen everyone in their p.j.'s. We would have lunch in town and enjoy the shops and N.M.'s wonderful culture. By dinner time we would be outside having a big dinner party with all of our family there. Oh, how I miss N.M. it was a part of my childhood and I am still enchanted!
Gail Thanks for the inspiration!
Sounds like everyone is thinking along the same
line. The only other thing I would add is…
I would love to go on a Hot Air Balloon Ride. Have always wanted to do that.
I would want to fly over HGTV Dream Home, and see it surrounded
by its wonderful environment.
thats an amazing idea!
Wow oh Wow
My OTHER perfect day would be after a year of living in the dream home. I would wake up and take a long bubble bath and watch TV through the sliding doors (SO COOL!!) and then I would get dressed and go outside and work on my tan. Then I would go into my art studio and paint a masterpiece in the sun inspired by the beautiful desert!!! After, I would make a feast for lunch and we would all eat outside in the sun and play boardgames, then some TV. I would have some snacks and go out to town and greet everyone, inviting everyone to ANOTHER party, and through a huge bash at my house. Then I would go out for a cooking lesson and make dinner from what I've learned. Then I would take a second bath and go to bed while watching TV. So yeah, I'm determined!!!!!!!! Thanks Gail!
My perfect day would be taking a run in the morning. Then make Huevos rancheros for breakfeast (with New Mexican green chile sauce). The weather in New Mexico can be unpreditable this time of year and is probably windy. So I probably wouldn't plan an outdoor party. I would head out and do some shopping for the party. Buy some New Mexican gifts for my guest. The party would have Green Chile Stew, homemade tortillas, chips and salsa (Sadie's salsa) and of course margaritas. Weather permitting, we would gather on the back patio and watch a beautiful New Mexico sunset! After bidding farewell to my guest, I would walk through my amazing house and hope that it wasn't all a dream.
BELLOS BLOG REALLY SOUNDS DELICIOUS I LOVE MEXICAN FOOD……..AS FOR THE PERFECT DAY……WHEN YOUR 80TH IS FAST APPROACHING EVERY DAY …. IS THE PERFECT DAY AS LONG AS I CAN GET OUT OF BED ON MY OWN TAKE CARE OF MY SELF AND STILL HAVE MY DRIVERS LICENSE I FEEL BLESSED. ….HAVING HGTV TO WATCH IS FROSTING ON THE CAKE!
What a wonderful outlook you have!
Perfect!
I agree so much with the run in the morning. Only, I would wake up and run all over the home with the hubby, kids, and dogs screamimg. After we all calmed down my husband and I would get breakfast ready for the kids and dogs. I would be staring outside at God all day saying thank-you!!! We would have a beautiful cup of coffee outside with the kids and dogs. Stare a little more at the sky with thanks.
Then, we would get the kids ready for some seious shopping in town. Great idea that you had for gifts for the guests! After shopping we would hit the trails with the kids. Then, plan the biggest party that we could for our Mom and Dad, family, friends, and bloggers. Bring it on!!! I guess the dogs would have to be at the kennel that day because we will be busy with the preparation for a fun party outside. Oh, wine will be my choice of drink. But, strawberry Margarita's sound sooooo good. The food that you mentioned above sounds great!!! Gail we would be so honored to have you and your family too.
Congrad's to whom ever won!!!
I love your perfect day Gail!! Oh gosh..my perfect to would start out with my husband and I relaxing and drinking juice(we're not coffee drinkers!) in the sunset room and taking in the beautiful views surrounding us. Then while my husband whips up breakfast in that gorgeous kitchen, I will get our girls up and ready for our day. Which would be a nice bike ride around the area, and of course I'll have my camera like I always do, and take lots of pics! After our bike ride we'll come back for some lunch out on the Casita patio. A little later in the afternoon my husband and the girls will settle in the fabulous home theater room for a movie. Meanwhile I will retreat to the master bath and soak in the tub with some candles lit to set the mood, along with some relaxation music. Just after my soak in the tub, the massage therapist will arrive and set up the massage table in the back patio. Meanwhile my husband will do some "indoor grillin" for dinner and make some of those dee-lish Dream Home Margaritas!! I will end the perfect day with a relaxing massage, awesome views and good eats!! Just PERFECT!!!
Oops…I meant to write…my perfect day starts out with…
i would praise the Lord and get everyone in my family involved…to be able to give to my family as much as they have giving me. i am disabled and the opportunities for a reclaimed wood sales as well as a greenhouse to help sustain and florish my family. this is the umphh needed to activate me and mentally prepare my thoughts and mindset to put chronic pain on back burner.
i not to uptodate on blogging, facebood, twitter, etc…if not too late to dream i am going to bed to dream that when i wake, you all will be here to scoop me up and fly me to my dream of all dreams. this house will be the magic carpet ride to the retirement of my youth. i also plan on embracing this next stage of 50ish and take the burden from Momma and have the holidays here…not enough room or pride in this damn place to boost my spirit anywhere like this dream home will answer the dream of my heart and soul
Tina, I read your blog and can relate. I hope that you will be the one to win. I am a RN and have witnessed people in pain. I myself have a kidney disease that provides it's share of chronic pain for me. I don't know you but I will send up a prayer to the Lord to either take the pain away or help you through it. I will be watching tonight on HGTV to see if you are the winner.
I would spend that time giving all the glory to Elohim, then run through the house in tears…. Glory to God
I also have chronic pain from scoliosis and 5 back surgeries. I'm in the process of trying to start a home business that I feel too tired to actually do. I'm in school and almost done, but I'm in pain all the time and sooooo tired. As I put in my post, what I truly want to do is foster dogs and play the piano. The house seems so big, but the property is awesome. I'd want a pool for building myself up and soaking away the pain. What's your pain from?
Thank you for the new post and redirecting our thoughts to "the dream". It's really been fun. I pulled up the Sandia Park conditions/forecast and today is 45 degrees with 70% chance of snow, 50% tomorrow. It's 5:00 am. I would walk slowly through every inch of the house finally parking it in the kitchen for coffee. I'd head out towards the front gates with my best pal (husband) watching the sunrise and down the main road looking for a local breakfast for some green chili and eggs, more coffee…off to Santa Fe to Cafe Pasqual's. The rest of the day pretty much mirrors yours. What a dream.
I would wake up,drink some tea, take a long bath. Then spend most of the day horseback riding and shopping. Then have a big dinner party with my family, neighbors, for sure you(Gail) and your family.
On this perfect morning, I will get up early and enjoy the incredible sunrise in my beautiful "sunrise" room. As soon as there is enough light, I am going for a morning run on the 6 mile nature trail that runs adjacent to San Pedro Overlook neighborhood. Since it is a perfect day, my sons will home for the weekend. They, however, are still sleeping while I am running. When I return, I will take a long soak in my luxurious bathroom. I will then wake my sons on the way to make them breakfast in my amazing kitchen. If Sandia Peak or Santa Fe ski area are still open, we will then head up for a few hours of skiing. If my perfect day is after ski season, we will still head to Sandia Peak with mountain bikes and ride one of their numerous biking trails. On the way home, we will stop by the Triangle Grocery and pick up what we need for enchiladas and chile rellenos for the party that night. The kids will probably head to the home theater to watch sporting events or movies and I will start prepping the Mexican food and margaritas. Family and friends will arrive and we will enjoy food, drink, a multi-colored sunset and the incredible fellowship that this environment inspires.
I would probably walk around the house all day, just looking at the perfect house with the perfect furnishings and beautiful landscape…I wouldn't want to sleep! Not even in that perfect bed.
I would proably do the same thing. Someone would have to pinch me so that I knew it wasn't really a dream.
Gail, I would thank God for being blessed with this most beautiful home, make a big breakfast for my family and taking in my surrounding, getting up extra early to watch the sun rise and looking out the window. I would walk through the whole entire house as I have memorize myself in it many times before, and now I am actually here is where I wanted to be all along, no regrets, no sorrow, just praising god and rejoicing and thanking him, knowing this is my purpose, my place, my home, not changing anything and knowing this is where I belong.
I would just enjoy the day exploring the house with my kids and then we would the soak in the beauty and the realty of our dream coming true.
i would spend my day watching my children play and enjoy the freedom of the outdoors
while my amazing hubby grill us up some burger's then as the day gets away from us
we would all sit by the outdoor fire and watch the sunset together while the kids are put
to bed i would light the candles around the tub run a bubble bath grab a bottle of wine
and me and my man would well you get the picture.
Cont..
have a house, a home that I truly love everything about, the outside, the inside, and full it up with so much joy, love and laughter, with song, dance, and happiness. Happy to love it, and put love in it!
I will than walk outside and breath in the fresh air and look up at the beautiful skies and see all what god created as if it was the first time, the sun, the sky, the clouds, and then focus on what is around me, the trees, the dessert my home and thank god again for making it happened giving me a chance to start a rebirth of new life feeling like I am on top of the world and god is looking down on me, watching over me and my family and again their I am rejoicing and celebrating being bless with a home, life, family, love and happiness.
And as I continue on the day, ready for anything that god has planned for me, and all the time thanking him for what he has given me.
Cont.. What will I have the mind to do this day is to reflect on how great God is in paint, write, or song. Giving God praise for his love and grace that he has for me and my family, knowing that he has blessed me and I am able to be a blessing in somebody else’s life through work, kindness, music, dance or paint, remembering that is was by his loving grace that I am here living in the HGTV dream home.
Amen to that
Great minds or Thankful minds think alike! Be blessed Jewel! I think with your outlook on life that you will find joy in the little things, as well as, the big things!
Give honor where honor is due!
It's over so what difference does it make what any one "would" do. The only person that is going to do all these things is the one that won! Move on!
because it's fun to dream
It is okay to Dream to the last min…
If the Winner had already been picked Gail, would not tell us to do this…
And it's fun. LOL!!!
Yes, I'm afraid she would. but I'm not trying to stop any ones fun, just be realistic that's all. You people are getting upset over the truth, why?
Patricia, you're acting a little bit like a troll. Don't spoil other people's dreams. It's a little bit mean, don't you think?
Who's the troll? You don't know me so stop with the hateful remarks. All I stated was truth, why get so mad at me? Are you this hateful to every one? I feel sorry for you!
Patricia…Wyo Girl's remarks aren't meant as hateful…a troll is an internet term for someone purposely posting negatvie remarks…which your remarks are negative. While I agree with you that the winner has probably already been notified, it doesn't hurt to let people enjoy the house until it is gone. While there are some people who are stuck on the idea still that they are the ONE, most know the reality that only one person can win and are just having some fun. If you don't agree with it then just skip over rather than making negative comments and starting arguments. Wyo Girl was just trying to ask you to let others be.
Thanks, adisneyfamily. You always get me. I love that after all of her mean remarks, she calls ME hateful! I probably shouldn't have fed her in the first place — I know better!
Hi Patricia! Thank you for your thoughts. I'll just agree to disagree with you. Oh, and I found a perfect friend for you on page 1 of this new blog. Her name is Sandy Kennedy. Bye! I'm moving on now….and laughing! Have a lovely, thoughtful day.
OH my the truth hurts doesn't it! Dreams are for what is to come, not what is past!
Patricia, bitterness is very unbecoming, and negative emotions will only bring more negativity into your life. Let us dreamers dream on, without casting clouds on our sunshine. God Bless you.
Who's bitter? I love how you are so quick to know me or my thoughts! I have never wanted or wished anything but the best to all of the people on this blog. I am realistic though so if that bothers you then I would say that it is you who casting the clouds. I am offended by you putting me down and then blessing me in the same sentence. I am blessed by God and he is the only one I owe anything to!
Patricia, you may very well be right. I think the winner has been chosen too. But since I can't verify that, I think people should be allowed to dream until the HGTV show reveals the winner or until the dreamers are ready to move on. To me, you're ready to move on and there's nothing wrong with that. Enjoy your journey! The only difference between us is that I'll encourage others to dream until they're ready to move on.
Lessie, my friend, you have the kindest heart I know!!! I have learned much from you.
Know that it's mutual, Renee loves and lives Green. You've taught me so much about eating organically and living green. Hope we get an opportunity to meet outside our blogging world.
Thank you Lessie. I am glad you'll encourage others to "DREAM ON". I never wanted to crush any ones dreams. Everything I stated was taken the wrong way. I dreamed about winning this home as did all of you, but when am I supposed to stop? The contest is over, they have more than likely chosen the winner, and that winner more than likely knows they have won. So now when do I stop dreaming about "this home." I am not trying to hurt any one and you can continue to dream about this home. All I said was it's time for me to wake up! I can't live in a Dream that never ends! Again I'm sorry if I hurt any one but some of the remarks made to me were down right hateful!
Thanks, Patricia. If I could put myself in your shoes for just a minute, I would feel EXACTLY as you do, even regarding some of the comments toward you. You've accepted the fact that you have not won the Dream Home. That's good! When that happens, it IS time for you to move on. Others may not be in that place yet, so it may appear to them as though you're trying to steal their last seconds of hope for a better life. Just as they need to give you the freedom to move on, so should you give them the freedom to continue dreaming.
Personally, even though I would love to win this Dream Home, after I viewed all the photos and read all the info on it, i never returned to the virtual tour because I didn't want to become attached to the home. I chose to invest my time in the bloggers and learn from them because I feel my virtual friendships will be more rewarding than focusing on a home I may never see or own. But that's my approach. Each person has to choose his or her approach to handling their personal response to not winning a Dream Home they truly see as life changing for them and their family.
I couldn't agree with you more Lessie. You say it far better than I ever could.
Let the Dreamers Dream….and perchance a Dream awaits us all………
Best Wishes!
Patricia, the first part of my comment must be approved before being posted and it was too long so I had to split it. Here's the end of what I sent you. Hopefully it will make sense after reading the first half.
How would I have been able to share with you, if I had not experienced your feelings? The Islamorado Dream Home taught me what I now share with you. Hopefully, our virtual friendship will extend pass the announcement of the winner tonight. I consider myself a winner because I've gained so much from fellow bloggers. Even if i don't win the home, I consider myself blessed.
Lessie! Blessed are the peacemakers! That's you! I always love your comments as well as RLG! The two of you are kindred spirits in deed! Hope to see a familiar face at the live ambush tonight! Maybe yours!
We have to be careful that we don't get so caught up in dreaming that we forget to be thankful for what we already have. Sometimes dreams can breed discontent.
so true
Thanks Patricia, for this comment. I agree with Lessie and indeed, logically you are probably right. However there is the slight possibility of something still in the aire today…so why not have a dream till we know what's what. I'm sure if the van pulled up to your house 5 min after this post you wouldn't mind…;)
Emotions can get the better of us all….I wish all bloggers the best in life and good fortune to us all!
You're a-ok in my book,….;)
Agreed! Again, so eloquently stated with such purpose.
We all move at different speeds enjoying our journeys
being taken in our living our lives. No rush here!
We choose all the things we must…who, what, when,
where & why it's all over as we determine it.
PFG, it's the same thing you would have written if you had read the comment first. That's why we're in agreement.
its okay, why dont you move on? just a question
I have never thought like this in 10 years of entering the Dream Home!! No one has to move on, there is a great community here who loves having fun with the dream and the virtual friends made…… You can be awake and still have dreams…..
and you have negative vives lay off of it i've read your posts on 2 or 3 different times all negative
the post i did is for patricia strickland sorry if i posted on the wrong post
That would be "vibes" wouldn't it? The truth is not always positive is it? Again I have never wished anything but the best to all of you. Why is it you all can state your feelings, and I have read some real stories, but I am not allowed to state my feelings. None of you know me and you should be ashamed of yourselves for being so mean to some one just because their views are not the same as yours. I think it is you who should lay off!
Hi Patricia! Your comment stirred up the pot! I think most bloggers are passionate about life in general. I realize that you were just stating your opinion. I think from looking at all the info given that the winner hasn't been ambushed yet…that is to happen live this evening. I'm still dreaming until then! I agree with Lessie and RLG that many of us have enjoyed sharing the dream and equally or even more importantly the reality of living each day to the fullest and making new friends via blogging! I think that today is another beautiful day like every day each of us has been given so far! I look forward to seeing the look on the winner.s face during the ambush! Who knows it may be yours! Cheerio then!
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz………………
I say we move on and away from this post….IT'S GONNA BE A GREAT DAY!! For ALL of us no matter what! I think it would be REALLY, REALLY cool if we could just delet this original post like it never was there. This is what has been a waist of time!
"WASTE" of time.
LOL!! to the corner with you!
tee hee
WELL SAID! HA! HA! WITH SUCH ATTITUDE!
You have to wake up eventually though right!
relax, lady. If you don' like reading people's dream – don't read them!
I would first thank God, for his amazing blessings that he had just given us. Then I would watch the beautiful sun rise, sit outside and have a cup of blue mountain coffee with my husband, have a nice healthy morning meal with all fresh fruit from the local farmers markets. Then my husband and I would walk the dog saying good morning to all the neighbors that we passed along the way. Get back home shower and dress and take a drive in that beautiful GMC Terrain, and go into Santa Fe and get friendly with the locals.
What a great day it would be that first day waking up in all that Beauty… Best Of Luck To You All!!!
I think your plans sound wonderful. What to do first? I would wake up and have some morning coffee while taking in the views. Then go site seeing and maybe scout out a local place for lunch. Then head back to the house for a nice cookout or dinner with family and friends. I'd love cooking in that kitchen. Maybe try some dessert and drinks on the back patio with the fireplace blazing.
I will thank the good Lord for giving me such a wonderful gift.
Wow, it is fun to dream. I still think the HGTV crew can do whatever they want regarding who wins…if they want to wait until 8 pm Monday night to track down the winner they will….they also may have contacted a neighbor to see if you will be home, or ambush at work…although it is most likely that the winner has already been contacted, it is not impossible that they have not. My family will be home watching to see whoever wins…in the meantime..the dream…. I would love to explore the dream house inside and out with my family, take a long walk with my dog to enjoy the views and area, explore the possiblity of a spring ski with my family. Of course have a fun party with neighbors, friends, family, kids…play games because i love the open concept and even when preparing dinner in the kitchen you are part of the atmosphere of the Great Room and can still be so involved because of the beautiful open concept of the house. DREAM BIG!
Oh Gail!! Your day sounds so wonderful. Aren't you so lucky to have been able to spend so much time in , this home? You would be a welcome guest to any of us bloggers, should one of us win, you know that, right? __ The first thing I would do is find the very center of this home and do some meditation and say my thanks for such bounty!! I am not sure how long it would take me to get the feelings released that would be overflowing from my heart , just bursting!! __ Next, I would squeeze some fresh juice, make some coffee, maybe have some fruit and eggs in the sunrise room or master while the sun rises in the beaufiful NM sky. Then I would get dressed in something comfy and cozy for an afternoon in Santa Fe shopping. I would purchase some flowers, some veggies and some fresh bread for dinner that night. As I am out and about Santa Fe, I would meet people that I find interesting, there are MANY, and invite them to come by for a bite and some music and fellowship! Can't wait to get to know the locals. The people here are the glue to this community and it's heritage. I would wan to fully absorb into it. __
Cont.
When I returned home I would spread the flowers around the house and relax. Having a massage would be very high on the list, after a long steam shower. I would be so incredibally relaxed. Then for a short nap in the guest room. Love that room!!
When I wake up I would go into the master closet and think…..I could live in here!! lol I would wear a long flowing dress and float through the home just touching and feeling and soaking in all the different aspects of this space. I would lay on the floor and look at those gorgeous strong ceilings. This would be my FORTRESS!! My home, my refuge. I would live and die in this home!!
When my guests arrive I tell them to feel at home and look around. Music would be flowing and their would be laughter and joy all around. I would ask my new friends what ideas they have for our next gathering. This would be a place for all to enjoy. Have to share this dream with those less fortunate…..have to!!! AH…..still the Dream!
Sounds good to me…..2nd!
today i woke up with an overwhelming sense of peace, began my grieving process, sadly realized that don't have a life, been holding my breath for the last two weeks, eventhough, the chances to win are very slim…but, hope is the last thing you loose, then your appetite, then your pulse…oh well, back to reality, i guess that, this is what we are known for, "the land of the free and the home of the brave"…brave enough to dream…….
The very first day in the Dream Home I would probably walk around in a daze in each room being so thankful that I won such a wonderful prize!!!
Well if I won the dream home, I would get up with my kids and have my coffe, then after a nice cozy breakfast we would all take the dogs down the trail to explore the area. After that I think that we would work on just explore the surrounding areas, maybe even do some light shopping. i would also make plans to have my family come down from WA to see my new home and just thank god, that finally something has gone right for me and my family.
Also I would just actually enjoy life and maybe sunbath to relieve all the pain and stress my life has been. And begin to focus on a new beginning.
I would probably wake up at stare at that beautiful sun rise then go to the kitchen and cook up a great breakfast. Then i would go for a walk with my family and 3 dogs. Next i would go and watch a movie in the home theater!!! After i do that i will start cooking so the huge party we r going to have!! Thx for another great blog, Gail!!! My fingers are crossed! Can't wait to win!!!
My day would start off with a nice walk with the kids and my dogs, a slow start while we sip on tea and talk about things, waiting for it to warm up a bit outside, looking at the most beautiful views, I would after the walk have a nice breakfast with the family of eggs and bacon toast with juice. Taken a moment to think about what we have to do for the day, we would more than likely spend the day as a family enjoying the few moments we had and feel blessed for…..
I have nothing against dreaming but when the reality of the end is here, it's time to wake up and move on to next year. Why are you so rude, and where did you get the name HGTV? PLEASE!
uh……. HOME and GARDEN TV…….. that's a no brainer. Nobody makes you watch, or be involved. If you don't like what it's all about, you have the option to stop.
RIGHT ON guest, let sleeping dogs lie, and let us dreamers dream, after all this the HGTV DREAM Home, get it DREAM Home.
I was referring to the person who uses the name HGTV, I'm not illiterate. I have never in my life came across so many hateful people.
Quack, quack, quack, quack, quack, quack…blah, blah, blah…ZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Andie, you're really making my day!
That's great news. I'll pose a toast to us…and other happy, considerate bloggers…may the illiterate "I have never in my life CAME across….", sad or bringerdowners (new word created just for this blog) find peace, calm, even laughter… somewhere, somehow.
well, that's just duckie! LOL you are funny!
Yeh a bunch of hateful SORE losers. New Mexico has enough problems without people like that.
