Feeling a bit teary-eyed after watching the giveaway show? Not sure about you, but I adore Myra Lewis! What an inspirational story. Here are a few fast facts:

Education and Career:
-Myra serves as the Assistant Director, Deep South Center for Environmental Justice, where she develops training programs (life skills, technical and environmental) that target the unemployed and under-educated.
-Myra earned an M.S. in counseling psychology from the University of Florida Gainesville in 1996. She earned her doctorate in counselor education from the University of New Orleans in 2001, specializing in multicultural issues.
-Myra earned a B.S. in science education from Xavier University in 1967, and an M.Ed. from Texas Southern University and the University of Liberia while serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer Teacher and Volunteer Leader in Liberia, West Africa, from 1972 through 1975.
Inspirational Story:
-Myra’s home in the Gentilly district of New Orleans was devastated by Hurricane Katrina. She and her now-25-year-old son, Chris, lived in both Houston and Baton Rouge before returning to New Orleans to live in the Algiers district, one block away from the river. She renovated her original home, which now serves as a rental property.
-Myra’s highly functioning autistic son, Chris, a gifted visual artist, is pursuing an associate degree in fine arts. When she learned of HGTV Dream Home’s proximity to Santa Fe, she dreamed of an early retirement in an area where her son might flourish. See Chris’ Artwork
Giveaway Story:
-Myra has entered the HGTV Dream Home Giveaway for the past several years. This year, she and her sister Deidre Marion Charlot (who lives across the street from Myra) reminded each other to enter every day. Watch Exclusive Giveaway Video
-Myra has traveled to New Mexico twice and says she was “enthralled” by Santa Fe.
-Myra loves this year’s HGTV Dream Home, especially the courtyard, rock columns, tile work and casita (she plans to host many visitors).

Come on folks get with the positive program. I keep logging on to read the final blogs and people are still worked up. Give it a rest. The 2010 DREAM HOME is gone, gone, gone. Trust me I wanted it so very much but I believe in giving blessings to the winner. I am over it and have moved on. I do go back and tour it while it is still available to tour on line and relieve my dream but I know it has been won by someone else. There will be other Dream Homes and also Green Homes so there is still some hope for those of us who did not win the 2010DH. Let's all stay positive and give thanks to God for what we have. Above all remember ONLY ONE PERSON CAN WIN.

Of course I wanted to win this dream home like everybody else i guess since i am going through a foreclosure, but I am so happy that Myra Lewis won it. i cried right along with her when I heard her story.that goes to show that there is always someone that has been through a lot worse than you. Kudos to you HGTV and congratulations Ms.Lewis, as far as i am concerned you have earned that home.

I've been reading these comments and have to butt in because NO ONE has said anything remotely RACIST on this post so why even bring it up? Are you one of "those people" that thinks all white people are racist and thus blames all of this negativity on race? You should feel ashamed of yourself for having such negative thoughts. If this woman won by choice then I think there are tons of more deserving people out there among the millions of entries. Take me as an example, a single mom of two little children who has been in and out of local homeless shelters in the past years while waiting for a low-income unit. I lost my husband to cancer a few years back, incurred huge medical bills and lost the house after that. My older daughter is also an autistic. For the past few months, I had to go to the library or the local technology center, waited for hours to use the computer just to enter in my entry hoping that one day I will win… something. I didn't even have an address so I borrowed my cousin's address instead and I have been hanging out at her house for the past couple days to wait for the HGTV truck. Oh well, everyone has his/her own sad story, I am still blessed that I have my beautiful kids, my health and I will keep chasing the next dream homes.
