The 2011 Location?
Good day, bloggers.
Well, I must say that this was a great HGTV Dream Home season. I want to sincerely thank you for your energy and talents. It is such a pleasure to read our blog. You are some of the most positive, interesting (not to mention talented) bloggers around.
Here are my top 5 favorite blog discussions from this season:
- Intense discussion on bears and other wildlife
- Haiku contest
- Monica’s wrap contest
- Privacy “solutions” for the Casita
- How you would spend your perfect day at the DH
I am doing my best to get some intel out of Jack on the HGTV Dream Home 2011 location.(Knowing Jack, he will say that the next home will be north, east or west of this year’s home. But you can’t blame a girl for trying.) Where do you think the 2011 location will be? Care to share your guesses?
If you are wondering how to fill your time until the next HGTV Dream Home is revealed, please join me on the HGTV Green Home blog. My first “sneak peek” videos have already launched. I hope to see you there. Let the greaming begin!
Your Super Fan,
Gail

I would really love to see the next dream home location be in the bahamas!!!
How about the beautiful coast of Maine? Very dramatic scenery!
I would like to see you build your next dream home in Coty, Wyoming. You will find the best of everything there, once your there you'll fall of your horse and what to stay.
When you dream, look to the stars and dream Big!
KC
Ok, I want to ad more thoughts for 2011 house: I like eclectic, modern mixed with old spanish-south american style, and art, and energy efficient appliances….+ energy , materials, and water saving. This is why I really I liked the Florida green home – it was such a nice eclectic style to me. + all those features to preserve water, energy….
It need trees around for shade and fresh air, some land to plant veggies, fruits, to play, and to relax.
The house should be crisp, fresh, but cozy and relaxing….does not have to be huge, pompous. The less is fine. Just nice flow for every day activities. Also I like a nook or small room as library – to sit and read, and room to work and paint ( I do animations, illustrations, web sites and I need quiet time to be able to do this….I believe anyone can use quiet time. My time- as we can call it.)
Hey I was just thinking how much fun it would be to have an Easter Egg Hunt at the 2010 DH, 3 acres to hide eggs and plenty of hiding places.
When I was a kid, every year, the Saturday before Easter, we went to a lake surrounded by sagebrush, and olive trees, with little bits of tall grass everywhere, and trails that went all around. we had an Easter egg hunt and had a homemade fried chicken picnic. It was great. There were lots of places to hide the eggs. No one was ever out there on that day, but us. The next day was for the real reason we celebrate Easter.
Have a great April tomorrow and the next day.
All who celebrate Easter, have a great tomorrow and the next day. Have fun, and love the reason for the season.
All who celebrate weekends, have a great day tomorrow and the next day, every weekend for the rest of your life.
That sounds like you all had a ton of fun. What an awesome way to spend Easter. You too have a great Easter and every day that follows.
i would like a place that is retirement-friendly.. somewhere peaceful where i could settle down. if the cash prize was 1 million, then it would be really retirement-friendly
i would like the house to be very upscale and classy! that would be so exciting!!
i think FL or HI.
Boulder CO would be a nice location for the athletic. Would like to see more "Green" built into the home. Plenty of property to take advantage of geothermal resources.
I would like to see the next Dream Home Giveaway to be built in, Tucson Arizona. It's beautiful ,warm and is somewhat more allergy-free than other states. I'am asthmatic so this is very important to me. I definitely would enter the contest if it were to be built there.
Arizon is cool. It really is beautiful there.
I agree about the beauty of the state of Arizona. I lived in Sedona for a while—–loved it and surrounding areas.
What about Sedona, Prescott, Fountain Hills, Flagstaff, Lake Havasu or perhaps somewhere halfway between Phoenix and Tucson?
I would like the next Dream Home to be built in the Upper Perninsula of Michigan. We call it" God's Country"! It's the Great Lakes State that also has many inland lakes, wilderness and wildlife. Once you have seen the Upper Perninsula of Michigan you never want to leave it.
It gets a LOT of snow and black ice to boot! Not that it isn't pretty, but maybe southern MI would be better in a lot of ways.
Well, don't mess with Texas, folks, unless it's a Dream Home in the community of Shavano Park at Huntington. ( shavanoparkcommunities.com ) Secluded and private with generous greenbelts, these luxurious estate homesites offer stunning vistas only fifteen minutes from downtown San Antonio.
Just wanted to give a nod to the Lone Star State!
Git ready to saddle up and hit the Dream Home trail, pardners, 'cause starting Monday it's gonna be a rough ride. Pack leader MARY will challenge us with many grueling hours of demanding scouting, unforeseen obstacles and pitfalls at every turn, dubious and confusing signage to frustrate us at each fork in the road. Show up rested and well supplied, for the weaker and inexperienced among us often fail to complete the journey. To those who persevere, the rewards are great. So dream big, dream smart, and most of all, Dream Home!
Sometimes I get the impression that you think or know that the Dream Home location will have cowboy/horse type features. Either that, or your just a good ol Californian cowboy at heart. Either way I love a good ol western, with horses, trails and the whole cowboy theme. Giddy up. I am ready for the ride.
testing
Actually, I think there are two things that get me going to the "cowboy" theme. The first is my sign-off line, "Happy Trails", which of course began with "Happy Turquoise Trails" in honor of the New Mexico Dream Home.
The other thing is (sorry, no offense intended to any character, real or fictitious) that when I think of Jack T scouting for new Dream Home locations, I can just picture him riding off into the sunset with cowboy boots and a ten-gallon hat. Go figure….
that when I think of Jack T scouting for new Dream Home locations, I can just picture him riding off into the sunset with cowboy boots and a ten-gallon hat. Go figure….
Are you saying you think it is Texas? You sure mention texas associated words and phrases a lot. I remember when you mentioned the ten-gallon hat, it was about Texas.
Hey! Check out my new pic. I have saddled up and I am ready to go. My horse's name is-
—–Trackin Jack——–. I am ready to ride, This sturdy horse can cross that miserable dividing river as many times as needed….Hopefully only once. This horse is a Tennessee Walker so I am waitin for ya at HGTV headquarters. You better hurry cause this posse is leaving on Monday!
DB you better find yourself a horse and saddle up, cause we're gonna be trackin down Jack all over the country, East to West North to South (South-only cause you wanna go to Texas).
Boy, those avatars are sure tiny. At first glance I thought it was a camel….
On closer inspection, by enlarging the avatar, I see that it's a great photo of you and TrackinJack hot on the trail of the next Dream Home.
Get ready to break camp and hit the trail 'cause we got a lotta' miles to cover!
PS: my trusty steed is groomed and pacin' the stables. We'll be saddled up come Monday morning and hit the trail before dawn breaks.
By the way, my horse's name is Trigger Happy—a takeoff from "Happy Trails" and Roy Rogers' horse Trigger.
Eeeeehhaaaahhh!
Oh, Dear Coop,
I cannot resist this "Aesop" moment, (w/a smile). I suggest:
The Rabbit and the Turtle
to be reread,
As a few of us gear-up
for a new retread.
While the Clue Flag may well
leave some sneezing in the dust,
Our motto of —-Patience and persistence
will totally be a must.
And while the Clue Journey might create
minute moments of consternation,
In the end we'll look back
where the alternative was
Dream Blogger procrastination!
Happy DH 2011 checkered flag line week!!
PS: an Aesop fable fan—-and a fan of your "Tour Guide Expertise".
Well done. Now that's one fable that's no tall tale!
I think that this years DH will be in Lake Tahoe, CA because of the wildlife, great skiing, and other outdoor
activities.
I also think the Nashville area in TN would make a great location for a future DH.
I BELIVE IT WILL BE IN bOISE,iD. gO big blue.
I thought I saw where it was going to be Cape Cod , Ma? That would be great. My husband and I have been trying to move to Ma for the last 4 yrs. We can't sell out home for what we need to move up there. It would be super.
stranded in Ms
You are probably thinking of the Green Home which is located in Plymouth Mass. which is by Cape Cod. You can start entering for that home online or by mail, on April 16th everyday until June 4th. This is the Dream Home which usually starts Jan. 1st to mid Feb. This is the time of year that they usually announce the next Dream Home location, after giving us clues to where it might be.
I believe I entered one other contest 1 time before I really saw the house then not again until 2010 dream home. About 3 years ago I spoke to God about so many of the details in the HGTV Dream Home 2010. Then they built it just where I had asked for it. Things that were not even available then that I asked for where in this house. Each room placed exactly where I had asked. Furnishings, colors I was so specific if I went thru each thing it would take more than an entire tv show. From the rocks outside to the dove hanging from the light, to my dog that we didn't even have yet on weaved bowls on pillars, the fireplaces 4 of them just as I had asked the turquoise one with the wing back chairs and then the only room in the house with no windows just behind the fireplace the theatre room but comforatable with chase'ss and black and white art of mountains, cork on the walls. If it was pleasing to God I asked for lamps made like tee pees, the raised hands sculpture in great detail as I litterally went thru New Mexico with my hands raised praising God, faucets, a childs play home instead of a doggie home and so much more. And then someone else won my dream home.
Amazing. The one you speak of "works in mysterious ways". And from a country song I just love. "Some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers".
Submit your final, best inference….where will the HGTV Dream Home 2011 be?
Kentucky (wahoo!),
Montana
Georgia
Hawaii
other_____
1st being more likely, last being less likely…..
Montana
other-Tennessee
Kentucky
Georgia
Hawaii, I would love it though. Hawaii would be a shocker… Please shock us Jack…someday.
I was thinking of Missouri too!
How about Branson Missouri?
I have saddled up and I'm forming a Posse, we are leaving Knoxville Tennessee Monday morning at 8am.
Check out my new horse, his name is —–TrackinJack—– Which is exactly what we'll be doing, until we find Dream Home 2011.
So find a horse give him a name and saddle up and join us..
I nominate DBCOOP to be the sheriff/leader of the Posse, all those in favor raise your guns in the air and shoot once. That was your last bullet, there will be no more shooting on this trip. We will be using our fine intellect and well tuned sleuthing skills to catch this One Eyed Jack, The DH Dreamer.
Thanks for the vote of confidence, Cami&TrackinJack, but in case I sleep through my alarm on Monday morning, you can all start without me. Trigger Happy and I'll catch up real quick like.
When it comes to weapons, I'll have my water pistol on one side and ping pong ball air gun on the other 'case we run into some mean critters or low-down desperados along the DH Trial.
Well, time to git fixin' a bite to eat 'round the campfire and spread out my bedroll.
Happy Trails!
YEE!! HAAW!! I reckon that we'll be right there with y'all. I'll saddle up Dream Chaser and grab my air soft riffle and my rapid fire suction cup pistol and we'll mosey on down the DH trail together on our quest to find our dreams and one eyed jack. Until then, Happy trails y'all!!!
Well alright!!! that is a posse of 3. Ya all better hurry up, all the good horsey names are goin quick. If you join up tooo late ya may end up with stickhorse, or worse stickdonkey.
Hey DB & HGTVLVR those are some purty fancy guns ya got there, I'm gonna have to pack my marshmellow air gun.
Sounds good to me, Cami. Just be sure to bring plenty of ammo for your marshmallow air gun, 'cause those are great to roast around a campfire after a hard day's work.
I was thinking of my little marshmallow gun, but I could make a nice long arm, big barrel, Marshmallow shotgun. I'll include a Marshmallow stick that goes inside, so I can roast them first and then shoot 'em across the prarie. It'll be just like the 4th of July, flames shootin into the night sky.
Sound good to me too. Now don't forget your marshmallow air gun though, I think were gonna need it. I hear that One Eyed Jack can be pretty tricky. See y'all then.
P.S. Do ya want me to pack the potato launcher too?
Yes Pack a potato launcher and a pea shooter.
Other bad horse names. (these are actually horse names) STUCK-N-D-MUD, Hoof-Hearted (where is he anyway?) ol' #7 (stubborn mule from Grizzly Adams), Widowmaker, Spook, Buck Off, Wild One, Clueless, Caution, Chaos, Dr.Jumpsalot, Edgy
Alloverdaplace, Frozen Motion, Genuine Risk, Go Already.
Tooo tired to go on…………(no that wasn't a name)
Some great names there! I don't know 'em personally, but I think I do remember one of them vaguely. Wasn't that one horse, Clueless, in Seattle? There are a couple of names in your list I like, but won't repeat here. However, Frozen Motion does remind me of a trail horse I rode once, whose name should have been Slow Motion!
Well, only one more day to horse around, and then it's off to the races.
I've hear of Go Already. I'm not sure, but I think he's from Kentucky. Although the horse that my sister-in-law once tried to ride should have been called Buck Off, because every time she got on him he would buck her off. We all thought that it was tooo funny. I think he did to, because it seemed like he was laughing too. He!! He!! He!! Happy dreaming.
Coop, are you thinking of undefeated Triple Crown winner Seattle Slew? Although I think I like the name "Seattle Clue" even better! Regret was the name of a filly who won the Kentucky Derby (like Genuine Risk), but don't choose the name Ruffian, another filly who came to an unfortunate end on the Belmont racetrack.
Now that I think about it after a long night of tossing and turning, waiting for the first clue to pop up for Dream Home 2011, I was confusing the name "Clueless" with the movie, "Sleepless in Seattle". Oh well….
Are you looking for the horse named Romantic Comedy? LOL!
That is great that you have a bedroll and are sleeping by the campfire. But I am bringing along my 6 in. cube, push button, blow up motel room, comes complete with indoor plumbing bathroom and two queen beds, and a microwave, and a small refrigerator. Hey I am taking orders for more instant motel rooms, so let me know if you want one.
I am considering taking my homeschooling son along, this is an adventure he would enjoy reading and maybe even writing about. (he needs this) I'll ask him if he wants to go, we need someone to take care of the horses anyway.
Sleeping by the campfire? Are you kidding? That's just for the publicity photos, after which Show Me will pull up in the limo and drive me to the nearest 5 star hotel. But don't tell anyone else.
I'm in,DBCoop, with my horse "don't get on" , my sling shot and a quiver full of jelly beans! "I ain't never rode", but I shoot straight ! P.S. I love your poetry. Take care.
I am joining the Posse to find One Eyed Jack the DH Dreamster.
My name is Luke and my horses name is Skywalker.
I will take care of the Posse's horses.
testing to see if my pic will show up
Alright, just what we need, one mean hombre to fight off the bad guys and keep the horses safe. Welcome to the Dream Home Posse, Luke & Skywalker.
Count me in on the posse! My initials for now will stand for "Clues & Enigmas" and my very own and very real Tennessee Walker will be code-named "StateSecret"! We will bring our slingshot and marshmallows for ammo to deter anything that stands in our way of finding the next Dream Home locale, and I'd better bring some carrots for "StateSecrets" because he doesn't work for peanuts!
Welcome to yet another valuable member of the Dream Home Posse, and to fellow equine agent "State Secret"—MARY has no idea what she's up against this year!
Peanuts, I have a launcher for those too. I'll bring that too. Thanks.
I would love if they did a home in HAWAII.Everyone always forgets about the island thats part of the us..Ocean,People,Sand what more can you ask for.HGTV pick hawaii for your nexxt dream home 2011!!
Us bloggers haven't forgotten about it, we love that pick. There will be an HGTV Dream Home in Hawaii some year, I just know it.
I agree, Hawaii would rate off the scale if HGTV built one there, and it's been suggested by a number of bloggers as the perfect Dream Home site.
I've already mentioned this location a few times before to try and get Jack T's attention, but one more time won't hurt—it's Kukui'ula, on the southerly tip of the beautiful garden isle of Kauai. Koloa and Poipu are two of the typically quaint Hawaiian Island towns just a hop, skip and a hula from the Kukui'ula Plantation Home Estates.
If it's Hawaii this year we can just board our horses on ship and sail away. Another blogger said it only takes 5 days to get there. Hawaii has a few ranches and horses! no problem. Now that's an adventure. Yippeeiaaaaa Hawaiiaaaaa. Yeee haaawww alohaaaaaa.
I know that the cruise liner Queen Mary 2 has an onboard kennel for pampered pets. Maybe they'd have room for Trackin Jack, Dream Chaser, and Trigger Happy…while we wined and dined, lounged by the pool and enjoyed afternoon high tea on our way across the Pacific to the tropical paradise of Hawaii.
Not exactly the hard life of a cowboy/cowgirl, but hey, even cowpokes gotta' kick back and enjoy life now and then. After all, these Dream Home location rides are a real bear, and that MARY is relentless when it comes to herdin' the flock.
Virtuality has it's advantages, we can do anything we want, go wherever we want, and not have to pay a dime to do it. This trip is the best bargain vacation to be had.
LOL…or clean the stables!
That is why you are the leader of the Posse, you never forget the details. I forgot about that awful chore.
I know right? That's why it's sooooo awesome!!!
Heading north to snow country could take Dream Home 2011 to L'Etoile du Nord (The Star of the North) Midwest state of Minnesota, and the scenic community of Eden Prairie. Within 18 miles of downtown Minneapolis and 20 miles from St. Paul, Eden Prairie is home to the Bearpath Golf & Country Club. This private estate development is set among rolling hills and picturesque lakes and creeks, with spacious waterfront and water view lots available for your very own custom built dream home.
The location is convenient to a broad range of big city attractions, easy-going Midwest small-town communities, plenty of healthy outdoor activities and a variety of natural wonders.
Any sightings of Jack T lately in Albany, Springfield, Rochester, Cambridge, Jackson, Buffalo, Houston, Bloomington or Madison? Or maybe just hanging out at Starbuck? Yep, all cities/towns in Minnesota, folks.
No DBCoop. Haven't seen him yet, but I hope to soon. Happy trails to you too.
Have ya got the country all scouted out for the big day tomorrow? Have you covered just about every area?
Darn tootin!!!
Yes Wyoming, That is good bear country, altho the Montana Skies are beautiful also. Any place in the western states is an okay place.
Seaside, FL. B-E-A-UTIFUL!!! Place.
Okay, talking about a rough ride (officially to start Monday morning according to our fearless leader, MARY), the 7.2 earthquake across the border in Mexico this afternoon was strongly felt throughout Southern CA.
As for me, not a drop of water lost from the pool, nor any breakage from odds and ends stashed around the house.
Guess I should still be in good shape to hit the Dream Home trail tomorrow morning, barrring any further unforeseen obstacles.
Happy Trails!
It's a good thing your headed to Tennessee the rendezvous point. Sorry your trembling over there. I think G O D is taking matters into his own hands, with those D rug L ords, I hope they got the message.
That's really weird that your clock stopped then.
Glad y'all are O.k. DB.
I love the HGTV Dream Home give away, one aspect is that there seems to be a downtown/midtown revitalization. For many of us (Americans) employment is also associated with downtown/midtown. Recently I looked at apartments downtown to be closer to my job, cost for much less functional space was at least twice the cost of my patio home.
Just a thought, what about a two bedroom on the metro bus line as an option for those who do not drive.
Who other than HGTV can take an unassuming piece of land in downtown/midtown America and make functional living space. Functional includes doorways which will accomidate a walker and or wheelchair, one story or with a lift to reach the upper floors. The elevator from the show Will and Grace at Grace design shop. Yes, I think Houston, Texas would be great, but the concept could work in anytown USA. BJ
Now, getting back to the more important business of scouting the Dream Home 2011 location….
Since the 'Show Me' State of Missouri was recently mentioned (in my case, appropriately so), how about a possible DH in and about the exclusive community of St Albans, which is west of St. Louis and overlooks the Missouri River. The estate homesites of St Albans offer panoramic river bluff and distinguished country club and golf fairway views. Residents may walk to the post office in the Village, shop at the local market, enjoy an afternoon picnic on the surrounding parklands, or pursue some of the other varied recreational activities available to homeowners.
A word to the epicure—fine French cuisine is served with continental flair in the elegant Gardens of Malmaison restaurant in St Albans.
('Show Me' approves of this message)
Missouri sounds great, and the community even better. Sounds rich.
Hi DB, Why don't you have a pic of your horse?
I was wondering the same thing? Ol' Roy had a horse. You can delete him after the hunt is over.
Trigger Happy's camera shy, I guess. Always trying to avoid publicity and the public eye. Must get it from me.
Mine is right there with ya, DB.
Must be a little camera shy too. Might be the big bang and the cloud of smoke from the flash that kind of scares her off.
Missouri sounds great, and the community even better. Sounds rich.
Western Kentucky – a perfect place for a lakefront home is the Barkley/Kentucky Lake area. The area is so beautiful! There are so many places for recreation, boating, fishing, swimming, hiking, horseback riding, picnicing, camping, hotels, resorts, golfing, and entertainment. The man-made lakes stretch from western KY all the way down into Tennessee. The land between the lakes has a beautiful, scenic drive from one end to the other. It is a real treat to visit the nearby small, quaint towns (Grand Rivers – to name my favorite) which have antiques, shopping, great home-cooking restaurants. Nashville TN is the nearest big city and just two hours away. Paducah is a smaller city, but a shorter drive. Please give this some thought! Thanks.
It sounds nice, I like Kentucky, and Tennessee.
Just getting things ready for the long journey ahead:
Trail maps, cell phone and GPS…check
Bedroll stashed…check
Bathrobe, PJ's and slippers…check
Canteen and fresh water…check
Granola bars and oatmeal packets…check
Sunscreen and bug spray…check
Cowboy hat and sunglasses…check
Side arms on board and loaded…check
Laptop…check
List of 5 star hotels and fine dining spots…check
Digital camera and binoculars…check
Teddy bear…check
Looks like I'm ready to roll on Monday morning….
I'm going to go buy a big US map for the wall tomorrow, not sure if Walmart has one though. Maybe in the office section? Would an office supply store have one?
Don't think were gonna need one. We have GPS, lap tops, and cell phones. We'll check it when we get to the hotel, oops, the campfire.
I would love to see HGTV take this giveaway to the next level…Maybe an International Dream Home. Country side in France, Italy , Australia or even Brazil.
Boy, just the logistics, and lining up advertisers/material suppliers would be a monumental task, much less the legal issues of building overseas and securing permits, etc, etc, as well as abiding by foreign laws—AND sorting out U.S. tax implications would be a nighmare.
Aside from those minor issues, sign me up!
The recent mention again of Kentucky brings to mind the following exclusive northcentral estate community of Harrods Glen, near Louisville.
"Harrods Glen is situated on 60 acres of gently rolling farm land and features only 46 breathtaking estate lots, each averaging over an acre. All homes are required to be timeless in design and all exterior elevations must be prepared by an architect. Each home will be one of a kind. These homes will mirror the type of home designs that were classic designs 100 years ago and those designs will continue to endure forever."
Is it time to get out my Kentucky derby hat?
Everytime you mention Kentucky I can't help but think of that yummy chicken and mashed pot. and biscuits. Lets stop at KFC on the trail.
Fine by me! Will they have anything for the horses there?
I don't know, do you think the horses will eat their signature coleslaw? Nobody likes it anyway.
I hope the execs at KFC are reading the Dream Home blog. Maybe they'll change the recipe..
In West Virginia or Kentuky, somewhere near the rolling greens and trees with running horses…….
Heading over to western Kentucky, just minutes south of Bowling Green, is The Club at Olde Stone. Tucked serenely into the hills, this handsome community offers distinctive estate homes and scenic view custom homesites, along with a range of amenities such as a championship golf course, private club with fitness center, tennis courts. There are plenty of outdoor activities available, including hiking, bicycling, canoeing, fishing, or stretching out on an island meadow for a picnic and a nap.
The Overlook at Olde Stone, located on the western bluffs, will feature impressive homes on gated estate lots from 1/2 to 1 acre that will command spectacular views of the golf course.
If your tastes lean toward the rural country life, The Farm at Olde Stone is where you can enjoy the open space and serenity of life in the country while still being connected to the community. 1-acre and half-acre lots are offered.
There's no end to the beautiful scenery, outdoor living and cultural venues surrounding The Club at Olde Stone. Nashville is an hour's drive to the south whenever the lure of the big city might strike.
Hey Coop, did you know you have surpassed awesome on the blogger scale, or reputation meter. Pretty cool. I guess you're super awesome. Don't let it go to your head though, or you'll have to wear a ten gallon hat.
Thanks Cami&TrackinJack, but so far so good. Show Me keeps me well grounded with subtle reminders of my fallibility now and then! My hat size is about 7 1/4….not sure how that translates into gallons.
I hope you build 2011 Dream Home By the Ocean just for me and my life Dream . That is my wish before I die . I have a passion for the Ocean and I am just in Love with it. .
Let hope the Dream home be in Nashville, TN
OK. So a new poll is on the homepage asking where the new dream home will be. I've voted a few times and each time the results says "Montana 100%" even though I voted for Wisconsin. I guess the new dream home will be in Montana ????
Hmmm — when I voted earlier today the results showed Montana 25% and Wisconsin 75%. I will go back and look again!
Just checked again and still get Montana 25% and Wisconsin 75% — how odd! I have no explanation except maybe blog gremlins!
I guess it was a technical glitch in the poll. I voted several times to see if it would change and it kept coming back 100% Montana. I just tried it again and the votes are more distributed now – glitch or a clue?
I am still waiting for Montana to come through…Just waiting! No hurry…
I think it should be here: http://www.harborshoresresort.com/vision/index.cf…
I want to buy one of the cottages on the Paw Paw River.
I found this area just by chance and now I take my family to Lake Michigan area for a few short trips each year. Love it! Sometimes we drive to the towns nearby (Holland, Saugatuck, New Buffalo, Grand Haven), wonderful beach towns for every walk of life. The beach towns further up the coast of Lake Michigan are great too – more remote and peaceful: Ludington, Muskegon, Traverse City, Leland and Charlevoix to name a few. Sunsets are incredible.
CNN Money voted St. Joseph one of best places to retire, Delta airlines (Sky magazine) picked St. Joe's Silver Beach as 2nd top beach getaway in the world, Parents magazine voted Silver Beach one of the top family beaches. Holland has been named top place to retire as well.
Michigan would be a great place for the Dream Home for many of the reasons you mentioned and more!
Why not somewhere tropical?
like the caribbean?
the dominican republic is a beautiful place to live
OOOOH!! The Dominican Republic is awesome and the cost of living is reasonable there I hear.
I;m hoping the 2011 Dream Home will be in the northeast, hopefully eastern Mass or Rhode island. Maybe on the seacoast. Can always dream.
CAPE COD!!!! Beaches, woods, shopping. We are Green on the cape. Try our tiny getaway for the next green home.
I think the next DH would be in Maine
Anywhere in Montana would be great. The state has four seasons and the best outdoor activities year round. It's a great place to experiance nature and to enjoy what life has to offer us.
A lot of places in Montana may be great, but others maybe not as much.
I just a stoke I sorry the word, but Wisconsin or New Jersey, really puerto Rico
I think they are doing it all WRONG. What good is a home in Maine or New Mexico for someone whose job is in Indiana for instance? What they should do is pick a winner and then design a home for the winner where they live. Then have the big reveal. The decorating will be taylored to the tastes of the winner and not the pie in the sky dreams of some fancy decorator who has carte blanche to go to any extreme. I think this would be a much more interesting way for the public too. Imagine, instead of one TV program, they have one for picking the winner. Then another when the design is made etc. Then meeting with the decorators, picking out the cabinets, countertops, appliances, colors of the rooms etc. Then the big reveal. They could have 4-5 shows throughout the season instead of one and I'll bet everyone would have great audiences. HGTV take note!
I second that!
Hey daver, that sound interesting. Certainly a new take on it. I could buy in to that.
Hope to see the 2011 in the Lake Wenatchee,WA area or Miles City, Montana area. Even around the Laconner , Wa area.
so… when do we get to start entering to win it???
and by the way I'm still ok with Utah…
How about in Missouri, like St. louis county
Massachusetts, Massachusetts, Massachusetts…. 'cause I'd live to live, retire and BE there…..
I have been lucky enough to have been in all 50 states. The Great US of A has such wonderful choices. I am glad it is not me that has to choose!
Very true! I am holding out for Montana!
philly pa???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? that would be excelllllllllllllllllent!!!!!!!!!!!!!
