  1. To Super Fan GAIL—it was so thoughtful of you to take a break from your busy schedule and walk me through with a personal tour of this wonderful Pinehills Green Home. An amazing home, right down to that really great Laundry/hobby room.

Talk about Gold at the end of the rainbow, I'm sold on this lovely Cape Cod dream.

Now we know that not only does Plymouth Rock, but it's certified Gold! Way to go green HGTV!

  2. PS: Speaking of the coming holiday weekend, MARY, in order to keep the Dream Home location search from getting too messy, when you're dropping clues next week, please be sure they're hard-boiled, 'cause when we crack 'em open, we want 'em easy to peel!

  3. Yippee!!!! So the fun starts on Monday — I can't wait to see the first clue! This will be new for me — I didn't join the blog until after the location was revealed last year — so I am looking forward to some great times sleuthing out the next location! Just let me get my deerstalker cap, my meerschaum pipe, and my Persian slipper full of tobacco ready and I'll be all set!

  4. Hey everyone, the format has returned to normal on the Green Home blog, so you will have to repost your comments, which have disappeared (well, all except for mine for some reason!). Sorry, Coop, I hope I haven't jinxed the format again by posting this on the Dream Home site! LOL!!! I promise to do some serious repenting if that happens!

    • P.S. Everybody's comments are back on the Green Home blogs — all is right with the world again!

  7. Hi Gail or Mary; How about the two car garage on the back of the house, can we have a look on the inside?. Also this green home only has two bed rooms, why not three. No room for guest, or family to stay.

  8. I know I am excited! I love cold snowy weather! It never -EVER- snows where i live!

  9. I just took the tour and can't believe how different and how beautiful the 2010 Green Home is. I'm so glad, first of all, that Dr. Myra Lewis won the 2010 Dream Home. Very deserving and a wonderful gift to her and her son. This Green home is very different with all the whites, reds, gold tones and silver. The designer hit it right in each room. My favorite would have to be the tower, where I would turn it into a studio and paint all day. Of course I wouldn't complain about the kitchen and great room and outside living area. Absolutely out did yourselves. I can't wait to enter….

  10. The Green Home Is amazing. I think it is the perfect home for me, a single person. I feel like I can use the tower and the kids room for guests. I love it. Thank You.

  11. Hello :)

How much land comes w/ the lot? Do you think there might be enough space to put an RV and RV hook up system…Or do you know who would know?

Also, If I win it I would want to put an all weather green house on the property…So, I could grow fresh fruits and vegetables all year long… It would be nice to know if there is space for that… Any thoughts on who might know? Just curious :)

P.S. You would think HGTV would put a garden area or green house area in every one of their Green homes they give away… it is an important focal point of Green and sustainable Living… would have been a lovely addition to this beautiful property :)

    • Great idea about the attached green house! Either a passive solar system, or solar panel to heat it in winter would be needed for New England winters. If the house was positioned correctly, sun wise, a walk through greenhouse could have been built into the porch, or on the empty side of the house. Passive solar could help heat the house aslo if done right. Hopefully the right ears are listening, and future homes will have one.

    • Hi C. Faris,

I think alot of us are of the same mind about the greenhouse idea. Driving back from L.A. last night I heard a radio host talk about a new book that has come out about the new survivors. The book actually titled Moses, is all about how people are thinking of basics. Plant seeds, maintain a water source, grow family vegies in a greenhouse just like back in the times of the bible. With this primary attitude toward preserving the earth, we will develop a new consiousness. I love your question about the lot size and travel vehicles.

  12. A green house with raised beds for those of us who aren't getting down on our knees as well and then raised beds outside of the green house for the heartier crops and that's sustainable and green!

Marsha on April 4, 2010 at 11:16 pm
    • Plus plus plus, on the raised bed idea.

  15. I just checked out the Green Home for 2010. What a nice design, but I have one problem with the design. Where is the closet for the children's bedroom? 2 swinging hang-up bars do not constitute a closet. I know the kids need more closet space than they get, per usual, they are kids. Just a little concerned. The tower looks fantastic, and love the 1st floor beyond all realms of belief, just the closet concern.

  16. What a dream come true! I have been in love with Cape Cod since my first time there as a teen in the 60's. I love the tower part. I would call is a crow's nest, however. My mom, who died of Ovarian cancer a few years ago would have loved that. She visited a house with a crow's nest in Florida and spent alot of time there gazing out over the ocean. Whenever I see a house with a similar design, I think of her lovingly. It has always been my dream to have a place on the Cape….but to have a house like that is unimaginable! You can bet I'll be entering EVERY day!!! :)

  18. Beautiful Green Home HGTV! Such a creative and bright place to live. Love the tower area to write my books and the MB sitting area to read my books, and the great kitchen inside and outside to do our cooking. Looking forward to seeing the walkthru show this weekend. Thanks so much for your generous gifts of homes and hard work making them so wonderful!

  19. Yes, I love the possibility of a LARGE (Energy Efficient) Solor &? Heated Greenhouse with All raised Beds. Made so it won’t break down after a few years, [ like a Big Sunroom ] on the SouthEastern side that catches all the Winter sun — Heated & with the Best Green Filter System. Also a waterproof floor with plenty of drainage.

  20. Love it!!!! My husband and I watch HGTV programs and get such great ideas from the shows. Your shows are very informative and seems like all around good folks. This new home I love the tower area! I can just see my husband and I just a rockin' away on the front proch and enjoying life since we retire soon. Thank you for all your programs and for all the hard work and for everyone involved in building these homes and making dreams come true..

  21. Well Mary, My George I think i'm on track for the 2011 HGTV DREAM HOME Location. Here goes,

The town of Red Cloud (town in Nebraska) was founded in 1871 and named in honor of the chief of the Oglala division of the Teton-Lakota Sioux. The honey represents the official state insect (honey bee)since 1975.The bowls can be identified with the speed bowl (stuck care races) and the valley bowl which is the bowling alley……………some of the hints I can't associate all of them with Red Cloud, Nebraska. I cant wait to find out where the 2011 dream home is located…

  22. This is one beautiful home. My husband and I have never won anything. I found out last year I was dying and It would be wonderful to spend my time left looking out that tower, Then knowing when I'm gone my husband would always have a place, We have worked hard all our lives but never made enough to save for a place of our own. Time has flown by and now that we are nearly sixty it looks like it may never happen. I has hope every day that God will let me leave knowing my husband is safe in a place of our own , This home is truly a dream come true for the person who wins. Good luck to all that have entered and watch your show. That is how I learned about this site. God bless!

  23. I am new to all of this since I don't have cable TV myself–I'm afraid I would sit all day long watching HGTV. However, I started about half way through registering daily for the 2010 green home and I have been telling all my friends and family that I will be moving to Massachusetts as I'm winning a house there. I'm using the "Secret" and the power of positive thinking.
