A Little Help
I’ve been reading the comments and want you to know that each clue is indeed legitimate — a little tricky, but a crumb that will lead you on the trail to the correct answer.
I’m going to give you a little help. You are looking for one, and only one, one-digit number in each caption. Disregard the photo of the compass — the image is not a clue and will not help you determine the location.
Carry on.

Hmmm, complete silence from the command post. Does this mean that MARY's run out of clues?
315 IS the area code of Cortland, NY. It is also on HIGHWAY 41. Cortland, NY was the 41st city in NY. People from this town: Elmer Sperry was the inventor of the gyroscopic Compass; David Hannum (a horse trader), Judge Morse Ames – a children's court judge who acted in the best interest of the child.
Just throwing my guess into the ring with the rest of them.
Who knows…..maybe Jack was scouring NY when he went there a year ago. Hmmmmmmm?
I forgot to mention….Pure Adirondack HONEY. : )
Fellow Dream Seekers: I'm off to the races this morning, but will return later in the day. Remain ever-vigilant, and when MARY fires off another clue, answer with a fierce response. We'll crack any and all resistence in our efforts to gain high ground in this battle—from which we can survey the landscape and pinpoint the Dream Home 2011 encampment.
Carry on….
I just looked at the 'clue' pics again, the dates on the clues are (April) 5, 8 & 9. Could this be a clue ??
Just thought I'd post my guess. I think it's Ohio. I added up the numbers, (I got 1, 6, 1, 9.) and that's 17. Ohio is the 17th state. And the University there has a Honeybee Laboratory. If it is Ohio, I'm gonna wait for 2012. I want to move OUT of the Midwest, not somewhere else in it.
I love the picture awesome message and precious young lady.
Another clue !!!!
Hey there fellow bloggers. Hope everyone is doing great today. I was just thinking about the numbers clue. I could be wrong, but I was thinking that 1-6-09 is starting to sound like a date. Does anyone know if there was anything significant to HGTV on that date? Just a thought.
Still having problems getting to your exact comment, I must put out an all points to the webgods, I wanted to tell you that I think that the bunch of us could be very good friends, and share recipes, and stories and visit each other at our HGTV HOMES, that we will all win. What part of the country do you live or spend time #1HGTVLVR. Also check out the new clue, I am sure that you have
Hi there you. I think that we could all be really great friends too. I really like talking to you and the rest of the posse. I too think that there are a lot of really great people on this site. Isn't it fun to hear what everyone has to say about all the clues and the DH. Your right, I also think we could all win, maybe not the DH, but just to know really great people like yourself. Please, keep the recipes coming and I will too. I'm from Minnesota. I assuming that you are from Vegas??? Also, I have checked out the new clue. I'm thinking that the pictures in New York. Not quite sure what it means yet, but I'm thinking something golden or diamonds or something like that. Hmmmm??? How about you? I'm so confused. How about you??? TTYL Keep dreaming big!!!
I would love to see this home built in Alabama the Beautiful. The beaches are so white and bright. There is so much to do and a great place to get away. Gulf Shores is great and so is Orange Beach. Please build a Dream Home here and Hopefully I will win. Love your show and I watch it everyday. Also remember Alabama won the Championship and the SEC conference rocks!
Its BOSTON,
After reviewing was has been stated, I believe 1609 could possibly be the date when the location may have been mentioned in a previous HGTV show, 'New Life on The Great Lakes". If this is the case the reason for the compass pointing between the north to northwest location indicating the numbers 330 would be accurate… Slide 1 = 3 (pattern), Slide 2= 3 (Closet Shelves and Door, photo showing items in numbers of 3), Slide 3=0 (Overall Pattern), Slide 4 = Nothing (intentional throw-off pic). I believe the location may be Pennsylvania which also has the three rivers and is where you can enjoy Lake Erie, one of the 'Great Lakes'. 1852, L. L. Langstroth, a Congregational minister from Pennsylvania aka "the father of modern beekeeping." Hence, the honey.
I,'m guessing Kansas, they have a huge shopping center and has a known diamond store! people go there from all over to buy diamonds there. Look up their zip, any bees there?
I bet it is somewhere on Delmarva!! The Delmarva Peninsula was founded in the 1600's!! Surrounded by the Chesapeake Bay, The Atlantic Ocean and the Delaware Bay…. Hmmm…….
mu guess is that it will be arkansas
Rhode Island's state motto is "Hope." As in "don't give up"
I know I have seen this little girl on a commercial and I cannot remember the exact commercial but I do remember seeing this little girl. Would it have anything to do with the type of commercial or is Mary simply stating Do Not Give UP !!!! I think she is saying keep going on to search for more CLUES!!!!
Could the first clue be a hint of the town name? Honey Brook, PA, Sweetwater, TX, etc. YOu get the idea.
Mary,
You are So Very Fun/Tricky! When we put all the numbers down to one we come up with 7 which means this home has got to be in Heaven or Heavenly? Still reminds me of West Coast! Beautiful Pics by the way!
Wow…my numbers were totally off from what everyone else has gotten, but I am still leaning towards NY, VA, MD. Love the year, and area code theories, those are prob. more accurate than how I came up with my nos.
clue#1-(3) flowers pictured
clue#2-(2) sets of everything in the closet
clue#3-(3) red chairs on porch
clue#4-(3) three solar panels, three windows, &/or third flr.
–tl——(11) = New York! Awesome Fun Mary!
Awww shucks, my zip code theory wasent right. Four numbers, what in the world could that be?
If you add up all the numbers in each caption to get a single number you would get 1622. Then, if you add up all these numbers to get a single digit (just though I would run with it) you would get 2. The 2nd state is Pennsylvania.
Oh wait, maybe it is the 11th state….New York.
Don't Give Up + a child : "Don't Give Up" was a song redone by Alicia Keys and Bono for the "Keep a Child Alive" organization that provides medicine to families with HIV or AIDS in Africa. The headquarters is in NY. Alicia Keys is also from NY.
Found a picture of the Gadsden Flag and the 1st. Navy Jack flag with a snake on it to.
Also, "Don't Give Up the Ship". There is a ship on the state flag of New hampshire. http://www.50states.com/flag/nhflag.htm
