HGTV Dream Home 2011 Location Clue Four

Ready for another numbers game? Remember: You seek a single one-digit number in each caption you read. Then add them, subtract them, multiply them or do whatever you think is best. Maybe they are nautical measurements. Maybe they are part of a World War II Cherokee code. Maybe they represent someone’s birthday. You must decide and post your best guesses below.

By the way, when I said I expected 1,000 comments, I meant 1,000 thought-out comments about the Dream Home location. I will let you slide this time.

Ready, set, go:

•One number from this caption in an HGTV Green Home 2010 article on locally sourced green building materials

•One number from this caption in an HGTV Green Home 2010 article about indoor environmental quality

•One number from this caption in an HGTV Green Home 2010 article about energy and air quality

•One number from slide 18 in this HGTV Green Home 2010 article about the Living Room

  17. I believe that the next logical place to build the next HGTV Dream Home is surely Vermont. Its natural beauty is so inviting for going green.

Elizabeth Dean on May 22, 2010 at 7:29 am
  18. is it a zipcode? I got much different #'s than other folks! Means its NY.

    • Recheck your numbers. That last one is tricky. Have to go to the correct caption!
Also you can choose so many different combinations! You get to interpret.
Hoping it is correct to Mary tho! LOL

  20. Dear HGTV, Your station is the main thing i watch !! I think Tennesee is the best place for your next give away the air is so fresh and it have so many resorts and near the bible belt . The smokie mountains are there also. i also love the green home in Mass. Please let my family move there.

Tyrone Blalock on May 28, 2010 at 6:06 am
    • Tennesee? COOL!
Then when some go to tour a new Dream Home in TN, maybe they will swing by and see HGTV's new address. Maybe they will have a COOL LOBBY (museum) with 1/5 to size all of their Dream Homes and Green Homes so we can really see them in smaller 3D. ( Be Cool HGTV and think like DISNEY!) You are very famous! Be an attraction millions will pay money to visit and remember always. I would love to see something like this. All could learn how the HOMES are designed, built, decorated, ETC.!
Immortalize Linda, Jack, etc. etc. etc.
Hope it has a cool cafeteria too with snacks that have nummy things from
the regions that HOMES were built in.

  24. HMMMM…

What if M.A.R.Y. has been giving "WRONG WAY" clues now. Since
she posted this "Wrong Way" sign! So then, her message of it being EAST of the
2009 HGTV Dream Home in New Mexico would have to be read as a "Wrong Way" clue!

    Heaven help us!

    Rethink everything?? No Way?

blue on May 30, 2010 at 6:47 pm
  25. Why did MARY say…… "" Maybe they are nautical measurements. ""?

It must be near a body of water OR maybe on a body of water? Lighthouse, Houseboat, island, must take a boat ride to get there? Hope it comes with a boat and has a 'boat garage'!

    Nautical Measurement……………………
Below is the unit of length for sea or nautical miles, as well as information about fathoms, cable length, and knots.
A fathom is 6 feet, the length of rope a man can extend from open arm to open arm. The rope was lowered into the sea to measure depth.
A cable length is the length of a ship's cable, about 600 feet.
A nautical mile is 10 cable lengths, or 6,076 feet.
    1 nautical mile = 1.1508 miles
A knot is the measure of speed on water. One knot is 1 nautical mile per hour.

  31. C&E said this, so…
    The numbers I get are:
    #1 — 9 1/2 (9, 1, or 2); 2; 12 (1 or 2); that gives us 1, 2, or 9
    #2 — 60 (6 or 0); that gives us 0 or 6
    #3 — 2010 (0, 1, or 2); 3 (from third); 14 (1 or 4); that gives us 0, 1, 2, 3, or 4
    #4 — 42 (4 or 2); 4; that gives us 2 or 4

    So 1 6 3 2 = Dover was setted in NH in 1623

    Or 9 0 0 4 = added up = 13+0+0 = 1,300 lakes etc. in NH.

    Or 1 6 4 2 = 1 , 4 makes 14…..and 4X2=8
    N = 14th. letter in alphabet
    H = 8th letter in alphabet = New Hampshire

    Or 2 0 3 4 = 2 + 4 = 6 and 6+0+3 = 603 is NH area code

    Or 1 6 0 2 = 06/ 21 Date NH became 9th. colony!

blue on June 5, 2010 at 4:37 pm
  32. The state is New Hampshire.

  33. 1. 1, 2, 9
    2. 0, 6
    3 .0, 1, 2, 3, 4
    3. 2, 4

    Well….
    1. Take 9-1=8
    2. 6
    3. 2
    4. Take 2X4=8 ………………. 8 6 2 8 = 6,288 ft. = Mt. Washington, NH

    Well….
    1 .2
    2. 6
    3. 3
    4. Take 2 + 4 = 6 ……………… So 2 6 3 6 …… (0) 3266 Zip Code in NH

So 9, 6, 0, 2 = 2,960 ft. elevation on Carr Mt. at Rumney, NH

  34. I'm with Deerspring's comment H Nelson Jackson made it across the US in a Winton motor carriage car which he called "Vermont" after his home state. He made the trip on a $50 bet.

I'm assuming the sign deals with VT leading the US in Public Health and Safety and ranked lowest in car-related deaths?

  37. (For those who want to use these numbers to get their location choice to match.)

    From Mary:
CLUE#4 (Not a year!) Remember: You seek a single one-digit number in each caption you read. Then add them, subtract them, multiply them or do whatever you think is best. Maybe they are nautical measurements. Maybe they are part of a World War II Cherokee code. Maybe they represent someone’s birthday. You must decide and post your best guesses below.

    A. Caption#6 – 9-1/2, and 2×12 . . . . . . . . so 9, 1, 2
    B. Caption#3 – 60 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . so 6, 0
    C. Caption#3 – 2010, (third), 14 . . . . . . . . so 2, 0, 1, 3, 4
    D. Slide#18 – 42, 4 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . so 4, 2
    (I get maybe….. 2, 6, 3, 4. . . .OR 9, 6, 3, 4 . . . OR try some other combos? )

(Then play with those numbers if you need to.)

(What's with that "Wrong Way" sign?)
