I was strolling down a country lane and a lovely flower stopped me dead in my tracks. Isn’t it pretty? Can you identify it? I am hoping for 2,000 posts on this one!

  3. I do believe this is a Physoslegia Virginiana! Another clue proving my location deduction for the dream home! Can't wait for more clues – maybe I'll see one that disproves my thought!!

  4. This flower could very well be a bitterroot, which is the Montana state flower. They have the Bitterroot mountains in Montana around Bozeman, so that is a definite possibility.

  5. I think it is an azalea, but where?

  8. Hi there sweety. That's to bad that you didn't see the eagle. I was hoping you would have, but I'm sure that there was plenty of other things that you were enjoying there. If you had fun there, I'm sure that we will too. That's if we decide to go there too. Well, have a great evening and sweet dreams to you.

    • Good Morning #1HGTVLVR, I know you will love wherever you visit, and whatever adventure great and small you experience. I think that this site has brought out the explorer, designer, lover of the DREAM HOMES and great story tellers on this site. We have so much to say, and so many places to go

  9. I can't read through all of these, but if others have mentioned that the photo resembles part of the peach blossom–well, that's what came first to my mind. And that also brings a number of states to mind!

  15. The flower is Prickly Pear, the flower that comes out before the fruit on Prickly Pear cacti. The picture
looks like the Post Cards of Arizona. That is my guess Arizona.

Lorraine on May 3, 2010 at 12:32 am
  16. Florida is the ORCHID NATION and it fits with my clues so I agreed I think it looks iris but I needed to change my mind and it could be Hawaii!!!!!! It is definitely in FLORIDA!!!! It has to be a warm region and ready for orchid blooming or any other blooms right now.

    melissa_again on May 3, 2010 at 1:16 am
  17. Dear Renneelovesgreen, what is your newest thought on the direction the clues are going. Are you liking someplace in upstate New York, the Carolinas, or previously mentioned Arkansas, or do you have another flavor of the day. I think many of us are going through this. I am going to put my thoughts together and post tomorrow about my newest.

    Janzee/Janice Vegas on May 3, 2010 at 7:05 am
    • Hi Janzee…. How is your day today? I hope beautiful. I am still going in circles.. I posted new info on Colorado today under the "Clue 8" thread. Not sure which way to go, as the clues are leading in many directions depending on the interpretation of the clues!! I can't wait to see what you come up with!

reneelovesgreen on May 3, 2010 at 3:23 pm
  18. I agree with Lorraine – that the flower may very well be a cactus flower. After a really close investigation, the out-of-focus green in the background seems to have some little lines coming off it. That could be the cactus plant. Yep, I think so. No cactus that I am aware of grows in the Northeast, but I may be wrong. That leaves anywhere from California, throughout the dry south. We just drove through Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas and I saw lots and lots of cactus. I am thinking of southern California – again!

  19. Ok she said country road…John Denver sang a song …Almost heaven West Virginia…take me home country road…

  21. Rhododendron macrophyllum ‘Seven Devils’ — Native to the coast of Oregon, this plant was named after the Seven Devils hills which form the rugged ocean side cliffs between Bandon and Coos Bay. Leathery leaves are medium large to about 5". Loose trusses of 2" pink to deep pink flowers grace this shrub. 10-15"

By the way Oregon also has dairy farms which correspond to the last clue!

AdryLee on May 3, 2010 at 11:48 pm
  22. I think the flower is a Peruvian Lily. My guess is Virginia, Vermont, Washington state, or may be even Michigan.

  33. It looks like a wild Poppy which we have in Texas, especially in the Central Texas area. We also have lots of country roads.
It also could be in North Carolina as there is an abundance of wild flowers there similar to this.
Either state would be a very lovely place for the 2011 home!

  40. OK I am getting so lost and I know the clues have to be so confusing because they are making my head spin, but I'm still thinking Vermont, New Hampshire, Conn, Mass, and or Maine, by any means the east coast is so beautiful and yes thats where I'm from but I have lived all over because I come from a military (Marines) family which we were transferred everywhere. I grew up in California, but lived in Texas, and now have been in Utah for the past 30 years, so, I'm still sticking with places back east. Oh Mary, I hope you let us know soon because I cannot sleep at night wondering and 6 am comes early since I'm adopting my 17 month old grandson. It would be great to see something back East becauseI would love to move my hubby and grandson back there and show them what its like living in heaven back there. Gardening, raising animalsand friendly neighbors oh how I miss it.

  41. its the coast rhododendron, the state flower of Washington. the dream home 2011 is in Washington State!!

Bethany on May 9, 2010 at 4:33 pm
  42. From the picture I think its an Azalea, which is the state flower for West Virginia and Washington.

Kelly on May 10, 2010 at 9:58 am
  43. This looks like it could it be a Ladyslipper. We had them growing in Massachusetts when I was little, but it was illegal to pick them because they were endangered. They could easily grow in upstate New York somewhere. Just a wild shot in the dark.

DesignGirl on May 10, 2010 at 7:42 pm
  44. I persoanlly think that this is a peony. They are very fragrant flowers that are native to Europe, Asia and Western North America. In 1957, the Indiana General Assembly passed a law to make the peony the state flower of Indiana. Of course, since the photo is extremely close up… it really could be anything! However, "Mischievous nymphs were said to hide in the petals of the Peony"…
Peonies can actually be grown in just about any zone, as long as they have a cold season.

  48. It almost looks like a form of magnolia blossom. I have one. Same color. Same petal.
I also live in Virginia. We also received about five snow falls this winter. It was unusually more than past winters. There is definately an abundance of beautiful locations in Virginia.

Carol in Virginia on May 19, 2010 at 6:55 pm
  49. After studying the flower better earlier I think the flower may be in West Virgina called a( Big Laurel ) Rhododendron. Also in Montana the Bitter root may be a possibility. I mentioned Texas Wild Orchid before but the cow throws me off. Don't see much of the dairy cattle there if that matters, more longhorns.. I saw a clue somewhere I think about the pretty people and thought many say in the Miss America Pageant beauties come from Texas & then we had the TV show Dallas. We also have the Georgia Peach the pretty young girl and the first Miss America Pageant was in New Jersey lol. It can really be anything east of New Mexico that has some snow. Granite fits them too & some of the trees & history also. It 's tricky hope we find out soon. ;-) .

Karen on May 20, 2010 at 2:55 am
  50. That is no doubt a Columbine. That is Colorado's state flower! The next home is in Colorado!
