texas
Guesser, I tried to google Virginia and tried the different sites it gave to find the picture but I did not find it. Could you tell us the exact web address it is at? Thanks!
Does everyone know that there is a new "non clue blog" (ha, ha), that Mary has posted? It's entitled "Tipping of the Hat". You can get to it from this blog on the right side where it list the different clue blogs.
I mean "Tipping My Hat To You".
I'm still voting for Montana!!!!!

Damn, I knew the snake was a political satire. I remember it from school but had a hard time looking it up. Does this mean I have the correct location or just the correlation to the snake and Virginia?
Moss on the ground? Hmmmm…. I guess Oregon is quite close, Rocks?…mountains…. definetely Oregon.
From my previous answers to your clues…Rhododendron macrophyllum –> Native of the coast of oregon. Yes, I believe it is Oregon!
Looks very much like a Diamondback Rattlesnake. I agree with and I looked up and the eastern states of this snake Florinda and Mississippi, Louisiana, and other south eastern states. So I am now thinking may be it will be in Tenn. LA , Florida????
RIGHT !! My 22 year old boy, 19 year old girl,& 11 & 9 year old girls could NOT share !!!
New blog, not a clue though

Just a guess
The 2011 Dream Home is in Wisconsin
okay, forgive my newness to the game, but don't you think the next HGTV home will be in a completely different region from all the previous?
I say it lies in Florida.
I am going to go with North Carolina, flower looks like a native flower of NC and so does the snake.

yes my friend you are absolutely correct! The timber rattler represents the 13 colonies in a cartoon drawn by ben franklin, the only curve in the snake, which is supposed to represent the coastline is stated as virginia.
Seems to be near or around Deadwood South Dakota
It's got to be north eastern TN……….at least, I hope so…..It has all four of the us venomous snakes, dairy farms, wild flowers, bamboo preserves, and honey farms.
I haven't figured out where yet, but I definately think it is somewhere along the Natchez Trace Pkwy, at first I thought somewhere in MS, then thought maybe in the UT, WY area, but I think all the clues seem to really lean more towards Natchez Trace Pkwy, maybe near the Ridgeland, MS area??
When I win the house this little critter can hang about if it likes. After all, it seems it is I who will be the intruder and hopefully it will welcome me, my cats and dog. If it doesn't then it will most likely loose its head right away.
I know all of you bloggers would be in awe if you could experience the beautiful mountains in Western Montana. Spectacular!!
I'm still voting on Arizona!!!!!!
USNS Red Cloud (T-AKR-313) is one of Military Sealift Command's nineteen Large, Medium-Speed Roll-on/Roll-off Ships and is part of the 33 ships in the Prepositioning Program. She is a Watson-class vehicle cargo ship.
She was named for Corporal Mitchell Red Cloud, Jr., a Medal of Honor Receipient.
Laid down on 29 June 1998 and launched on 7 August 1999, Red Cloud was put into service in the Pacific Ocean on 18 January 2000.
USS Washington (BB-56), the second of two battleships in the North Carolina class, was the third ship of the United States Navy named in honor of the 42nd state. Her keel was laid down on 14 June 1938 at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard. Launched on 1 June 1940, Washington went through fitting-out before being commissioned on 15 May 1941 with Captain Howard H. J. Benson in command. In early 1942, Washington and twenty other American ships were the first to be equipped with fully operational radar.[2]
I think you have it Aunt B – I think its North Carolina!
USS Saratoga (CV/CVA/CVB-60), was a Forrestal class supercarrier. She was the last aircraft carrier in the US Navy to be laid down as an axial-deck ship, and was converted while under construction to an angled deck ship.
USS Hamilton (DD–141) was a Wickes class destroyer in the United States Navy following World War I, later reclassified DMS-18 for service in World War II. She was the first ship named for Lieutenant Archibald Hamilton.
The navy landed on Utah Beach on D-Day.
I'm just throwing in my guess: In or around Omaha, Nebraska possible the Platte River area….
All the clues seem to be aimed at points west—-of the Rockies.
It's gotta be Ohio!! The timber rattlesnake is native to the region…I also found some pictures of flowers that looked VERY similar to a previous clue. There are also honey bees in Ohio AND it was the 17th state. Thus the numbers 9, 1, 6, 1. There is also a Cartier in Ohio….just some food for thought. Goodnight all!!
I think it is just in Virginia, somehwere in the mountains/country. I have no clue what town.
how about Nebraska?
We live in Northern California and all applies….from San Francisco north.
Texas our a southern state, but texas happens to have most rattle snakes i think lol
I'm thinking "Don't tread on me," the motto of the Gadsden flag, first unveiled in Charleston, SC, rhododendrons are native to that part of the US, rice has been grown in the South Carolina low country, etc.
Virginia……..near DC and the Blue Ridge Mountains.
This is NOT a diamondback rattlesnake. Not sure what it is, but it's definately Not a diamondback.
I have an answer and I bet it is the first one posted about the snakes curve ball
O.K.
IF you look at the curves of the snake it is the shape of a lower case F and it is the curve ball
Florida
OK. I think I'm on to something… I think Mary is referring to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers – the class A baseball team affiliated with the Milwaukee Brewers. There is a large inland lake in that area – Lake Winnebago – I think I'll look for new developments there. And of course Lake Michigan is nearby – which I am very familiar with (from the other side) – we love "The Big Lake" ! Wisconsin was one of the choices in the early dream home polls – the cow could represent Wisconsin cheese/dairy…

All the clues point to Vermont. Jacques Cartier was the first explorer to see the Green Mountains of Vermont. The battle of Saratoga is still celebrated in Vermont. Red Clover is the state flower. There are dairy farms in Vermont, as well as honey. The timber rattlesnake has been seen in Vermont. My guess is that the new 2011 dream home will be built somewhere in Vermont.
I just can't make the Cartier connection… though when I start looking for places that fit Cartier, some other clues dont fit! I'll guess Mrs. White in the Conservatory with the wrench… oh yea – thats another game I've been playing alot – my 7 year old has discovered the board game Clue and asks me to play all the time – getting confused here!
I did not review any of the number clues, but I’m taking a wild guess that it’s South Dakota. Based on the stamp picture mostly…
The Vermont State Insect
No. 124 of the Acts of 1978, effective July 1, 1978, designated the Honeybee as the official State Insect. This "social" insect, which grows and lives in highly organized colonies, is important to Vermont farmers and orchardists by being a principal pollinator of certain of their crops. But it is best known, of course, for the pleasant-tasting and healthful honey which it produces. Though they represent a relatively small part of the state's agricultural economy, Vermont beekeepers generally produce several hundred thousand pounds of honey each year.
Aunt B's insight about Red Cloud, Washington, Hamilton and Saratoga all being Navy ships or carriers seems to also lend support for Newport, Rhode Island. A map shows a Naval Construction Battalion Center in the Narragansett Bay area as well as a United States Naval Complex in Newport. I can't wait for the big reveal!
Its Gainesville Florida!
Looks pretty much like the diamond back I viewed slithering across my front lawn,in AZ.
I would love to own a dream home where there are no snakes, and beautiful land for gardening.
I definately think its in a southeastern state
Past Dream Homes have been in Wyoming, South Carolina, Florida(3), Maine, Oregon, Maryland, Georgia, Texas, North Carolina, Colorado, California, New Mexico. I'm thinking it would be easier to figure out if I eliminated some states. So I'm going to guess that next year's dream home will be in a region of the US that has not been represented yet. Different maps show different regional areas but I'm going to use the following breakdown: Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Southeast, Great Lakes, Central Plains, Southwest, Rocky Mountain, Pacific-Alaska, Pacific.
Of all of these regions only two regions have not had a Dream Home – Great Lakes and Central Plains.
Leaving Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinios, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio
Based on all the clues I think Wisconsin and Illinois are most likely.
To kill the Timber rattler is against the law. If you are bothered by the snakes then call someone to have them removed.
