Tipping My Hat to You

No clue today, but I must say that I like your determination and persistence in tracking down the clues and the location of HGTV Dream Home 2011. Some of my favorite comments appear below. Washington? Arizona? New York? Virginia? Vermont? Who knows? Oh, wait, that’s right — I almost forgot … I do!
“Funny —I was researching Rutland County in Vermont (which is where that one species of snake is in Vermont) and when I typed in Rutland New Home Community it actually linked me right back to Virginia, not too far from the Williamsburg area. Mary isn’t the only one who has me circling between Vermont and Virginia.”
-Our Army Family
“The snake reference points to Newport, R.I. There is a Round Tower in Newport, R.I., that is said to be a mysterious tower of stones and seems to be tied up in lore about venomous snakes. It is said that anyone who had been bitten by poisonous snakes could look upon it and be saved. I’m not sure of the connection, but there are also references to the serpent knight of the round temple.”
-a fan
“I have to say I’m sure it’s in Arizona. Our state has everything to offer but the ocean. The three C’s: copper, cotton and cattle.”
-CheeckOrtiz
“New York state is home to 17 species of snakes, one of them being the timber rattlesnake. The timber rattlesnake (listed as ‘Threatened’ by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation) enjoys the widest range …”
-Ladybird
“Vermont contains one venomous snake, the Eastern timber rattlesnake, which is confined to a few acres in western Rutland County. Vermont is still my choice.”
-C&E
“There is a Snake Valley in Utah. Diamondfork, Utah: Diamond for the snake, fork for its tongue.”
-Snowrider 321
“Okay, I am sticking with Montana, just changing the town. I am going with Lower Rattlesnake, Missoula, Mont. Montana has rattlesnakes, and why not live in a neighborhood named Rattlesnake? Still don’t know the meaning of the numbers clues, but I am fixated on Montana — don’t know why!”
-RaineyinNC
“Ok, this is just my personal shot, but from the clues what we have so far looks like a Timber Rattlesnake, a dairy cow, Rice Bowl restaurant and Red Cloud on the stamp, also a Cartier. That would leave me to guess the Omaha, Neb., area.”
-AmandoC
“Just in case it’s not Vermont, let’s not forget Pennsylvania. The Poconos are a big destination for honeymoons. The state beverage is milk. The cartoon of the timber rattlesnake that was later used on Colonial flags was drawn by Benjamin Franklin in Pennsylvania. The state colors are blue and gold. There are probably other connections. Maybe I’ll look into it just for the fun of it.”

hoping its not ultra modern this time, some good home lodge look… or perhaps some shabby chic and antique… well ya know i dont have a clue where its going to be, hope ya all are right though and its in the foothills of the mountains of Virginia or North Carolina and whomever wins the dream home would be ultra blessed
Sounds great Kerry, I love a good lodge home look.
Or even red and white for Wisconsin Badgers in Madtown area??
Madtown anywhere USA might be appropriate.
The R N V could reference Reno, Nevada too!
I think it means Return, No Vacancy
Hey Group! Does anyone know if we can start submitting our entries for the 2011 dream home sweepstakes?? I think we should all be writing them out, just in case!!
I wouldn't do anything just yet Kona, they may change the rules on us. The sweeps doesn't start until Jan 1, 2011. 'Course they reserve the right to change anything, like when they start the contest.
I'm gonna go to bed now, before I yell again. Goodnight y'all. Sweet Hawaiian Dreams….
Sweet Hawaiian dreams to you too, Cami!! I really hope you get your wish.
To answer your question, I would go to Hawaii with unlimited funds and live in a tree house on the Kona Coast. For fun, I would live in for some time- The South of France.
I just wanted to let you all know that no matter where it is, there it will be. Although, I'm sure it will really be awesome, wherever it is. Hawaii, would be nice though.
That's my thinking doll face.
You're too kind, sweetheart.
Good grief…this could go on forever…

When will the madness stop????
I give up, when??? I know, when somebody wins. Oh yeah, then it will just start all over again. Shoot. J/K Cool, isn't it???
The madness will go on and on until Mary (such a sweetheart) sees and reads what her inconsistencies have done to the minds of all who choose to humor her…Tis possible that she is simply waiting for everyone to crack. Ya think?
I think the location is North Carolina & we want to win!

What we know about Mary… She can be devious, she can be nice, we married her off, turned her into a nun (although I think, wait, on second thought lets not go there), she could be anywhere in the world, but apparently is NOWHERE to be found (leading me to think she married Waldo, but I guess we will have to wait on that, too), she has quite a sense of humor, but no sense of time… Anything else to add?
LOL, No sense of direction… Oh wait that's us..
Let's see—she apparently has no natural fear of snakes, is a mathematical genius (number clues), shops at Cartier, has a sweet tooth (honey jar), seems to be on a first-name basis with "Champ", is an avid gardener (stops in her tracks for red clover flowers), a sailing enthusiast (nautical terms and the compass), is a cautious driver (pays careful attention to road signs), a budding philatelist (stamps), dedicated long distance hiker (forest), grew up on a ranch (knows her cattle), and enjoys Chinese food (rice bowl and chopsticks.)
Amazing what you can learn about someone online!

LOL! Especially since we don't know if MARY is even her REAL name!!!
The more we know you Mr. DBCoop, the more I think you might have all of these attributes as well. I would have to add that Mary probably loves to entertain, and must be an extradinary cook.
Yeah, and a fear of really big, ugly green things chasing him!!! LOL!!! But don't worry Coop, we will still protect you.
Coop & the big, ugly, green thing, or Coop & Mary??
Coop & Mary & The big ugly green thing. There all invited, but the big ugly green thing has to behave itself though. LOL!!!
LOL, time for some comic relief.
Hmm, think it's time to choose a restaurant for dinner…my guests are getting restless.
I'll sneak back online later.

Hi you all from So. Cal. When I returned from my trip I came here right away to say Hi. Then I went back to where I left off which was Clue #7. I am still there because my computer goes out and doesn't let me go anywhere. It just freezes and I have to wait for an hour and that has been my days – lots of waiting…..
I want to thank Cami, Reneelg,Armyfam, and C&E. I know there are other people but I think these four ladies have blogged the most. How many hours have each of you put in to get our numbers up? You see, if you took the time to write , than the least I can do is read! I am relearning all types of facts. I had
to teach so much of that New England coming to America. The Colonies were fun – awhole semester.
Was I out of town when you guys had a question and answer session with Doctor Myra? If it happened, where can I go to get a recap, and hear some of this groups's questions. By the by, still thinking about that summer blog get together, and have not written to the HGTV gang yet, but will do that this weekend to see if they are up for it, have schedules that concur with us and etc. I would just love to meet Mary, Gail, Jack, and Jamie, and if there is anyone else on the staff having a social time in a few areas of the country would be fabulous dawling.
Going back to the clues tonight, to cross check, and have a look at Vermont, Pennsylvania, the Carolinas and Virginia. I am looking for crosscheck clues with the snake and stamp clues which so many of you aptly brought to my attention that it could relate to the stamp act. I googligooed as Cami says, and found that there were not original serial numbers on stamps, as I thought in the first place, which may have matched some of the number clues, but instead markers, for zip codes. Correct me if I am wrong. I think many of us have indicated the relationship with history, based on Mary's comments so the trick is to find the state that keeps repeating in the double intended clues. I tip my hat to Mary and the quite brilliant group for taking us on a blindfolded trust walk.
Excellent googligooing Janzee!!! I also, tip MY hat to Mary and this brilliant group. Thank you to all of you, for it has been an wonderful blindfolded trust walk, hasn't it?? May it continue…. Sweet Dreaming to you all…..
You have such a positive delightful attitude #1, I have such good thoughts about this cafe.
Thank you soooo much sweety, but with people like you, you make it easy.

Hello! Again it Mike, Mlriscoolduede. I like all the bloging too. I just don't have a lot of time to do it. I hope the HGTV Dream home is close to my home State of Oklahoma. I know I said Arizona before ,but, since the snake pop-up (yuck!) I think it might be close to my home state because we have a lot of rattle snakes here including rattle snakes. I don't know how many species of them we have but they are creepy and slimy. They are mostly in the mountians and fields. Oh heck, they even have a yearly contest here of who can catch the most of those creepy, slithing, slimy, things. Yes, people get bit but, I have not heard of anyone dying becaue they have the Doc, there with the antidote and an ambulance to take them to the hospital. Enough about that, but, I would like to expand my guess to include the states of Oklahoma Kansas and Nebraska, because we too have those flowers cows, and trees. If it is not too late for me to say. What city? I would say the State's Capital of those State or a city close to it. What do you think? I hope I did not creep anyone out too bad, I hope you can still sleep tonight? See ya! Good day:-)
Thanks for the concern…luckily the excitement over the dream home nuetralized the fear of snakes enough that I didn't have any nightmares (and I was the one who posted that I thought I would- which was literal)…don't know about anyone else. Great to see you around when you can be!
Could it be Minnesota?
Cool, Minnesota would be great too. It would be nice, huh??
either that or it's california..cows, honey, mountains, woods, snakes, flowers. The number clues seem to me to be a zip code. What do you think?
It could happen. I've thought that it was either a zip code or an area code for where the DH is. Although, some people have though that it's the number of square miles of the state of the location. However, I did come up with a couple of locations though. Texas was one of them. Wisconsin was another, although, California would be a great location for it too.

I am wondering if one of you will win a wonderful prize if you have guessed the place??? Seems only right to me. Maybe even double your chances of being th DH winner. Raggedy is even getting a bit ditsy.
Just the honor of being able to say you picked it first if you can track down that you indeed were the first to say it ;o) …bragging rights.
I just wanted to let you all know that no matter where it is, there it will be. Although, I'm sure it will really be awesome, wherever it is. Hawaii, would be nice though.
Take it easy kids, the party has just begun. First we have to get through the horderves. Happy Cinco de Mayo to everyone. And for those celebrating tonight- a toast of apple juice, lime and sweet pepper sauce. Ha now for the Chips A Hoy.
Nice…. Good thing I took the evening off….
I think when MARY gets the green flag that all is in order for the big reveal, we'll know right away where the next Dream Home will be. Until then, I'm hanging around the starting gate, chatting with fellow bloggers, enjoying the sense of excitement shared among us, and trying to avoid any false starts or wild rumors (as fun as that might be.)
Until then, keep the faith!
Well said!!

I enjoyed reading about some states as well. I am sure that Mary will be giving us a Mother's Day gift for sure Huh Mary? I am curious, has anyone ever seen Mary or a picture of her? That's besides Coop who actually saw her when she tipped her hat. You had me going for awhile but then I thought who was
talking!!!!! My gardening hat off to you gals and your helpers as well. Congratulations and THANK YOU
very much for pulling us through.
I am going back to Clue #7 and continue to try and catch up – I only have something like 47pages!!!

Well it's Thursday…..time for another clue or maybe the BIG REVEAL!?! This would be a wonderful Mother's Day gift! Please Mary! Where?
Bribery will get you everywhere…hehe…
I received my Mother's Day flowers yesterday….yep….yesterday would've been a great day.
Maybe Mary will present it tomorrow, so the moms can focus on what's important….themselves….LOL Just kidding…I meant …. they can focus on FAMILY.
How would it be if you were really thirsty, and had a bottle of water but you couldn't get the cover off it?
I'm guessing that you are dealing with that right now.
New clue posted…. kitchen, granite…hmmmm
Okay…here is my new hunch…the winners weekend is lurking around the corner…I'm guessing the winner's weekend is lurking around the corner or happened this last weekend…I'm thinking that we would have heard something if it already happened. There is part of me that thinks this coming weekend, BUT would they make everyone work on Mother's Day?!? I believe the rules said the winner had to be able to travel before May 15th…which is the following Saturday…so, I am thinking that weekend is too far away for the winner's weekend- although I am not counting it out. SO- to finish my thought…I am thinking that the reveal of the new location will be during the t.v. special for the Winner's Weekend as that helps promote getting viewers as people want to find out where the next location will be and some people may be past caring about the 2010 dream home anymore. SOOOO- since HGTV seems to like showing their specials on Sunday evenings (though the ambush was moved to a Monday) I am guessing the winner's weekend special will air either May 16th or 23rd. (continued)
While May 23rd would make it a nice birthday present for me (finding out the location on my birthday) I hope that we do not have to wait that long. I would love for it to be sooner…I just have that inkling in my head that they are waiting to reveal it with the winner's weekend and unfortunately, while it would be a nice Mother's Day present, this weekend is too soon as we haven't heard any advertising.
I could be wrong- Mary could surprise us before that…this is just my theory.
How would it be if we get up every morning, looking forward to reading the morning newspaper, only to find that the newspaper boy has delivered Mondays newspaper again for the 4th day in a row.
Cami, It would be just like that movie "Groundhog Day".
Hadn't thought of that. That show is one of my worst nightmares. Especially if the day that kept repeating was awful.
I would have called the newspaper co. back on Tuesday morning.
How would it be if you were reading a mystery novel, and when you got to the ending, the pages were missing?
I think since Mary's been quiet, maybe this is the last clue? I don't think the reveal will be on Mother's Day either unless they want to be sneaky and have NO ONE watching.I was so sure the location was California, around San Francisco. I got to thinking that "The Presidio" was home to many Naval officers and I know that San Francisco was and is a embarkation point for Naval ships so I'm still sticking with that area. Somewhere around that northern CA area though southern CA could also be in the running. But I tend to think cows and clover go together and the best area for grazing would be northern CA. Also that first picture on the Dream Home home page looked like the Coast Hwy. to me. So I'm going CA anyway! We'll see!
I'm STILL voting for Montana . . . . and a true dream home with a view of the Big Sky, the mountains, the wildlife, the National Parks. Ah .h .h. h. wesome . . . . .
Thank You Mario Pleitez, for taking such a Breathtaking Photo! It looks Heavenly with the sunlight filtering down on the trees! Looking forward to finding out where this 2011 Dream Home could be?
We had a saying up North " Light dawns on Marble Head" this picture makes me think of that!
Ok something about weddings, honeymoons…the Pocconos in Pennsylvania are famously known for the honeymoon destination.
Well, Mary, You have me singing the "Blues" but not the Jazzy New Orleans type, unless I just guessed that as the answer to all your blue kitchen. But I really wouldn't want to have the dream home there. I am just at a standstill in not really knowing, beyond a honey, or rice or wrong way sign, or flower or cactus or trees or felix the cat trick bag of numbers, or blue/granite/island kitchen, or Cherokee code and nautical knots and rattlesnakes, etc. shadow. I really do believe though that this last clue relates to either the color of blue because you said in your clue to look for plural "kitchens" connection, and when seeing all the 8 kitchens of which this one is a part of on the picture link C&E, I believe found athttp://www.hgtv.com/designers-portfolio/room/trad.. that the only thing that every single kitchen picture has in common is the color Blue. For not all have an island nor grannite nor green apples, nor tea kettles nor crystal. So I believe the color blue is the connection to the new dream home. Or, unless you are refering to a past dream home kitchen of which I believe this is but having hard time findi
So I am just gonna sing the Blues until you reveal the location. (P.S. my last post was too long and since I am sooooo down and out and can't remember the rest of what I wrote and had to erase because it was too long of a post, I will just end here. Byeeeee!
Definitely Rutland, VT Reminds me of when I used to vacation there at my grandparents house as a child. The woods looked just like that. Makes me really miss it again. I would love a place there to make new memories again for our family! I hope that's it!
Ok, I'm going for North Carolina, eastern side of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park … perhaps Cherokee area?
Omaha Nebraska some where in Nebraska
Oh and also the Stamp Act was during the American Revolution which was signified in ways by the Rattlesnake.
I wish that they would pike Albuquerque, NM. Loved my childhood there and would love to move back but since the fall in home prices in Ca. Doubt if I could sell and even cover the move. Wish I could get hold of Holmes I have a friend who could use 3 shows at once to get her home together.
Geneva
I am 100 percent that it's somewhere in VA. You have rattlesnakes there, a Cartier in Richmond, McLean, and Dulles…..the stamps could signify the Stamp Act and the Virginia House of Burgesses. The Honey could signify Virginia Honey Hams. And VA is known for it's agriculture—ie the cow. There are many country lanes there with flowers. If I had to pick I'd say Richmond VA. Willow Oaks area of Richmond—there is a Granite Recreation Corporation there. If I'm right do I get a prize? lol
Also just found out that Dogwoods are VA's state flower. That flower pic could be a pink dogwood bloom.
The websit says the name of this photo by Mario Pleitz is "Despertares En La Montana"
Probably Tennessee! idk! Did I see mountains?
“Vermont contains one venomous snake, the Eastern timber rattlesnake, which is confined to a few acres in western Rutland County. Vermont is still my choice.”

Sure could be!!!!!
what is red cloud????
