HGTV Dream Home 2011 Location Clue Nine

You’ve been asking, “When does the madness end?”

We’re nearing the home stretch; the location announcement is coming soon. You must stay the course, my friends. Be patient and have fun – the teasing and trickery is all in good fun.

  1. I just checked something out. All the kitchens in the HGTV Dreams Homes boast Sub Zero and Wolf appliances. Sub Zero/Wolf appliances have three manufacturing plants. Two of them are located in Madison and Fitchburg, Wisconsin. The other in Phoenix, Arizona. Maybe that is the connection we are supposed to see!!!

Mary Jane on May 10, 2010 at 5:50 am
    • Except the kitchen Mary gave us has a Viking Stove and a Hansgrohe sink faucet. Not Kohler!!
      Sorry.

KonaSand on May 10, 2010 at 7:11 am
  2. I can hear it now, "Just because Mary says it is in location (fill in blank here_____) what do you mean it is over? It can't be over! Can we really trust her when she says "It is over and the location is ________"?"

Does anyone know of a reputable therapist that gives a group rate for blog enthusiasts? I think our little team will need some help when this is finally over… Which of course we know it isn't. Right?

Debra Gilmour on May 10, 2010 at 5:51 am
    • Go to Intense Debate, and register. It will offer you an option to set up a blog or web, I think. You may want to check it out for future reference. Just a thought. Let others know that are new also.

  3. Hope everyone had a nice Mother's Day yesterday! I'm especially hoping there's an extension
of the holiday today with a new clue or better yet, a reveal. The only things I have to add to
the case for New York is that Food Network's Rachael Ray has a home in the Lake George
area near Lake Luzerne and there are apple orchards a 45 minute drive away according to
an interview. The Shakespeare stamp on the postage clue may have something to do with
the saying "Red at night, sailor's delight" for the beautiful lake sunsets. The saying may have
come about from a line he wrote.

  4. Bowling Green, KY where the Corvette Museum is located but that is not where the dream home is located.

noidealeft on May 10, 2010 at 12:28 pm
  5. After much wasted time, I decided to look at real estate listing around Lake George. I have decided that the dream home must be in Diamond Point, NY. Maybe even on Lakeshore Drive. The listings that I found aksing over one million dollars had beautiful water views with lot of trees. Diamond for Cartier. That, my blogging friends is the best that I can come up with. Oh, I forgot, much of the area is haunted by ghosts from battles fought around Lake George. If I am right, we must remember to ask Mary if the ghosts come with the dream house as a special gift.

noidealeft on May 10, 2010 at 12:53 pm
    • Fort Ticonderoga is in the area also. Probably accounts for some of the ghosts.

  6. I love this blog! Every day when I read it you all put a big smile on my face! I'm as antsy as the rest of you for the location reveal….but this guessing game is too much fun. My definition of Mary's idea of "soon" is:

    S –Someday
    O–Obviously not today
    O–October, maybe…
    N–Not soon enough!

    • I am really worrying about the Dream Team at this point, and the Dream Home.

  7. Well…it is Monday AGAIN…so, maybe that will bring us another clue…maybe a reveal…at least a new blog topic???? Mary did have a Monday/Thursday pattern going on.

    • Mary is a crafty person. She gave us a new picture. She enjoys torments us.

      • New pic, but pics haven't been decided to be clues…also new quick poll…so, she is around…just not ready to give any info yet.

Our Army Family on May 10, 2010 at 4:05 pm
        • If the most recent change to the main board isn't a clue, do you get the feeling like the reveal won't be this week either? I do.

  8. Cartier Boutiques that sell jewelry (AKA shiny things).
    States that have Islands.
    States that have Dairy Cows.

NJ, NY, CA, VA, HI, NC, MD, MA, WA.
All of the above states have the 3 criteria listed.
I am still not sure if Mary's 1st clue is honey or maple syrup.

Summer on May 10, 2010 at 1:49 pm
  9. Summer i think the first clue was honey, i think the title of the picture was honey, i'm home. So i still think it may be tenn. But i am not stressing over all these clues. I am having fun reading everyone else stressing over them. But can not wait till they tell us. But that is just my thought. Who knows only Mary

lmbarshaw on May 10, 2010 at 1:59 pm
  10. I am sticking with my decision of Diamond Point NY. Mary's picture of New York City makes me believe it is somewhere in upstate NY. Diamond Point is a beautiful place. The dream homes are always in a beautiful place, ergo, ergo nothing, Mary is making me nuts. If she had put a picture of nuts up today, I would be convinced she is having way too much fun with us.

noidealeft on May 10, 2010 at 2:08 pm
  11. Mary said, "Look for the connection." Is it perhaps that the kitchen in the Green Home was from IKEA and this looks like it could be an IKEA kitchen too, only with touches of blue? We know that Vermont has a lot of granite but is that what the clue is pointing to? What about the cabinets? Also isn't Vermont the "Green Mountain" State or is that New Hampshire. But… perhaps the connection is that it is a New England State as is the state of the Green Home? Maybe it is a state that has an IKEA store? Boy it could be anywhere…AR, CA, CT, FL, GA, IL, MD, MA, MI, MN, NJ, NY, NC, OH, OR, PA, TX, UT, VA, WA. Oh well, just a thought to throw a monkey wrench into the mix! Have fun and we'll know soon enough!

  12. Cartier Boutiques that sell jewelry (AKA shiny things).
    States that have Islands.
    States that have Dairy Cows.
    States that produce Maple Syrup.
States that may have a connection to the stamps clue.

NJ, NY, CA, VA, MD, MA, WA.
All of the above states have the 5 criteria listed.
I need to do more research on the snake, flower, and #s clues.

  13. I feel like a little kid who wakes up for Christmas morning, only to discover Santa hasn't come. Only it's like the Groundhog Day Movie, it happens every morning.

Is everyone on the Dream Team ok? Is the location ok? Is the home ok?

Cami on May 10, 2010 at 2:43 pm
    • Now calm down Cami, I'm OK, You're OK, we're all OK. OK?

      • And the BEARS O.K.!!!!! Okay!!! :) :):):)

JWmson on May 10, 2010 at 2:57 pm
        • Wel…. OK. I'll try to be OK. Maybe the Dream home is in Ok-lahoma.

Cami on May 10, 2010 at 3:06 pm
    • Cami, maybe it's Oklahoma City, OK! They have BEARS in OK.

JWmson on May 10, 2010 at 3:07 pm
      • Bear are OK if they're Teddy Bears, or if they stay in their woods. Black Bears at least are very timid, and would rather eat berries than people. It's said that more people get hurt by a black bear who simply runs into them when he is trying to run away, they rarely attack people.
When I lived in Mass. my town had a problem with a Black Bear who found Donuts in the Dunkin Donut dumpster, and got hooked on donuts (probably honey glazed) They finally captured and released, he never bothered people, he just wanted donuts. So if you're in the woods, and you are afraid of bears, just bring a few donuts along. You'll need to come up with a mathematical equation
to determine how far you can run in the time it takes the bear to eat one donut, and ration accordingly. Pure Science!

  14. Where do you think the Dream Home will be New York, Arizona or Tennessee? There is a new pic on main page.

Cami on May 10, 2010 at 2:45 pm
    • OH I hope it's Az.

George on May 10, 2010 at 2:48 pm
  15. The clues may be leading from Lake George to Lake Luzerne. There are some corresponding streets
in Lake George that are found at Lake George streets/sites (Sagamore, Lake Shore , Lake Tour)
and there is a Broadway (Tipping My Hat) . This is a stretch but Clue 9 – Route 9 from Lake George
leads to Lake Luzerne. There is a Dumont Street that means "from the mount". One of the three
timbersnake counties in NE New York was Warren County.

Deerspring on May 10, 2010 at 2:50 pm
  16. Oops, I meant "There are some corresponding streets in Lake Luzerne that are found at Lake
    George…".

Deerspring on May 10, 2010 at 2:54 pm
  17. I'm beginning to think it's Tennessee and things got a little rained out, which is why it is taking so long. Maybe someone got bit by a snake. Maybe the Dream Home is really sinking. Maybe someone got lost in New York and ended up at Cartier. Maybe while excavating they struck gold and went on vacation. Maybe they got attacked by bees. Maybe they were confused by all the numbers on the house plans and didn't lay the foundation just right. Maybe they are having a hard time moving the trees around. Maybe they needed to uproot a stubborn tree.

Cami on May 10, 2010 at 2:55 pm
    • Yes, those are all very good thought out reasons. Good thinking Cami

    • or maybe they are having just too much fun watching us on this blog!!!

Deerspring on May 10, 2010 at 2:59 pm
    • Cami, you are so right. Maybe it was all those things, or some of those things, but whatever things it is those things need to get over them fine selves and tell us where they are! We could help them! But we can't if we don't know were you are. Just send us a ticket and we will come, I promise!

Debra Gilmour on May 10, 2010 at 4:00 pm
      • Wouldn't it be great if we could help them? Or comical. They should have a super fan builder.

Cami on May 10, 2010 at 4:13 pm
        • That is completely doable. I am all over it! I am going to the garage and getting out my husband's toolbox… Jack, I have a laser level and I know how to use it!

debragilmour on May 10, 2010 at 5:13 pm
          • You went totally funky on us. It scared me for a minute, I wondered who had taken you?. Did you sign up with Intense debates? You are the real Debra Gilmour right?

As for you as designated Super Fan Builder, that is a great idea. Here she comes Jack, you better get some chores lined up for. She seems like a pretty determined person, she could probably work circles around your crew.

Cami on May 10, 2010 at 5:28 pm
          • It really is me:-) For some reason my picture isn't coming up right. Still need to figure that one out… But, I promise it is me.

I used to help my dad with his projects all the time. I can hand-off hammers and other tools with the best of them. But, I must admit I envision myself as more of a "white" hat sort of person. You know, the one who gets to tell the yellow hats what to do LOL!

  23. the granite site that C&E gave goes to a dealer who's phone number is in L.A. California. gee I wonder could we all be that far off. Maybe it's Carmel.

Every time I see the GM commerical I say to myself " That is my house that I generously gave to Myra, who did say she could not take the house until her son was finished with school, which should be pretty SOON now. If she doesn't really want the house – because she would have to leave pretty New Orleans, I will take it back. I do want warm weather (not hot). PLEASE CHANGE THE COMMERICAL SOON.

  26. Speaking of Islands…………
What about Rhode Island? This is a state I have not previously guessed. It does have the word "island" in it, and the last clue was a kitchen "island". I don' know much of anything about Rhode Island, except that it is a very small state.

  29. Did you know that Rhode Island has a Gold Coast? Interesting, because Chicago also has a Gold Coast. Cartier has a location in Chicago and the Cartier photo that Mary posted is of Cartier Chicago. Maybe the clue Cartier is suppose to point us in the direction of Rhode Island's Gold Coast. After all………this state does have the word "island" in it. And the last clue is "island".
Also, Rhode Island has Dairy Cows, and the state produces Maple Syrup.
    More on Rhode Island soon………

On the other hand, the island stands out a lot, so it may be in a island and there are many islands in EU.

  31. The 1st clue….honey or maple syrup………maybe it is neither one. Maybe the clue is silverware, after all, there is a spoon in the honey jar. Plus, Mary posted a photo with chopsticks. I think the chopsticks are a hint….because the 1st clue is silverware.
Did you know………………..Rhode Island is known for making silverware and fine jewelry.
    Silverware……1st Clue.
Fine Jewelry…..Cartier Clue…………plus, Rhode Island has a Gold Coast.
    Rhode ISLAND…….Kitchen ISLAND clue.
    Cow……..Dairy Farming in Rhode Island.
And…………this fact is not relevant to our clue search……..but JFK and Jacqueline Bouvier were married in the state of Rhode Island.

noidealeft on May 10, 2010 at 5:49 pm
  39. The flowers are hydrangea. A lovely plant and very pretty, too. I was liking this picture right up until I read the following (attribution to wiki):

1.) Hydrangeas are moderately toxic if eaten, with all parts of the plant containing cyanogenic glycosides.[4] Hydrangea paniculata is reportedly sometimes smoked as an intoxicant, despite the danger of illness and/or death due to the cyanide.[5]

2.) Having been introduced to the Azores Islands of Portugal, they are now very common there, particularly on Faial Island, which is known as the "blue island" due to the vast number of hydrangeas present on the island, and on Flores Island.

3.) Species in the related genus Schizophragma, also in Hydrangeaceae, are also often known as hydrangeas. Schizophragma hydrangeoides and Hydrangea petiolaris are both commonly known as climbing hydrangeas.

Which takes us back to the snake (poisonous), the reference of location (island), and possible commentary of our blogging (schizophrenic).

I think I will stick with the cake…

debragilmour on May 10, 2010 at 6:01 pm

I would really like to see them do a Eco Friendly Green Home in New York City I'm not sure that would be easy but then maybe it would be the burrows that you would need to build in to have room. I think it would be a good challenge…

  47. How about a loft in New York City and a ski cabin in Vermont? Do you think that would be too spendy?

Cami on May 10, 2010 at 4:00 pm
  48. Is this for real? Is it in one of those locations, and those only? Then so much for all our good ideas. New York? Maybe upstate would work. Tennessee? I hope there is good flood insurance there – a beautiful place – so pastoral in places. Arizona – that would be a good place if it was around Flagstaff up in the mountains. We just drove through there a couple of weeks ago. Most of Arizona looks a lot like New Mexico, which we have just done. Hmmm. I don't think it is any of these places.

    • Unfortunately, they are so unpredictable who knows. However the other pics that have been on the main page are ones that have been shown here before. I don't remember a pic of New York City. Does anyone else rember that pic being shown before?

  49. OK, just by chance if they did get flooded into the next state or two (GOOO VIRGINIA!), then it would explain the nautical references. Perhaps we need to start calling Jack, Admiral Jack (Captain is already taken, plus it is a higher rank). First Mate Mary would certainly tell us if the ship was steering to a new port, right??

    • Well since the clues could still lead anywhere and they never explain the clues afterwards, they might just keep it to themselves to save face.

      • True. Maybe that would make perfect sense. Except that it is killing me!!!

  50. Hi everyone! I was hoping, as I am sure you all were to, for a reveal thread. But, at least Mary has finally narrowed the state options down to three. After looking up skylines for all three of these states, I believe it is a New York skyline for Arizonia's nor Tennessee's look nothing like this but New York's do. So, with that I think we should all concentrate on finding the exact New York location for the dream home. I don't think the picture actually tells us which area of New york the dream home will be in but was just to lead us to New York. Ok, Ben & Jerry here we come! Yum! So which gated community do you think all our clues lead to the best? I have no clue yet.
