HGTV Dream Home 2011 Clue Ten

What if HGTV Dream Home 2011 were located in New York City? I mean, think about it for a second. HGTV Dream Homes have traditionally been built near mountains, oceans or lakes. Then we did a 180 in 2010 and built our first Southwest Dream Home right smack-dab in the middle of the desert. Wouldn’t it follow that we’d do something even more groundbreaking in 2011? And the Big Apple certainly has its perks: fabulous food, culture, performing arts, history and proximity to Long Island’s breathtaking beaches and the upstate’s lakes and mountain ranges. Seems perfect to me. Thoughts?

  3. Well maybe, if it was located where we could enjoy our dream home. New York sounds exciting! It would be a dream and adventure all at the same time.

  4. New York City is loads of fun, energy, the Arts are fabulous. I loved it there when I went a long time ago. Drove North along the Hudson to the Catskills, so breathtaking. I would say yes go for it, I would love to be there, and in a drive away be in the awesome country side in any direction you go.
I declare Vermont, to be the location for the next dream home though, as far as the clues go.
Second generation Florida girl says go for it in NYC… Renee'

  7. II am from NYC. It would be a dream come true for the building of a home within an apartment. I would love to live maybe on 5th Ave. in a penthouse. I am retired from the Police Dept. I could sit on my roof terrace at night and see the beautiful lights. My 16 yr old daughter has cancer and being treated at memorial sloane hosp. The new home would be close to the hosp for her. She is thinking of attending Barnard College so that would also be a convinence. Just living in Manhattan would be a dream come true. With all of the exciting things happening in NYC this is the perfect place for the next HGTV home giveaway. Thanks in advance.

  9. Don't know about the clue, but NYC would be wonderful for the dream home. Fabulous city and my favorite of the many I have visited in the whole world.

  11. I loved NYC while I lived there, but I am now quite over it, thankyou.
Too crowded. There are few standalone houses, and there are in the millions.

  12. The other side of the spectrum is how our daughters view themselves as how they need to be to be excepted, try looking on the facebooks and see how 11-17 year old girls are dressed like whores because they think that is what they need to do to be valued. Pretty sad men can get fat, bald, teethless, or gray and women still love them but a woman gets replaced because men can’t stay happy with who they have. Kind of a sad way to live.
The problem is in this society EVERYTHING is open for sex, sex, sex when it really is intended for husband and wife. You can’t even watch a commercial anymore without “dating” places to tell you to go cheat on your spouse I’m sorry this is just sad times we live in!!!!

How COOL would that be to have a home overlooking the hubbub of NYC???? Something on a high floor. If no mountain or ocean though, a pool and a rooftop view are a must. Good luck… and can't wait to enter for that one!

  14. That would be nice in all, but I still like the idea of having a home in big cozy place where you can just relax.
