Come to think of it, we almost moved to VT last year when my husband was getting ready to change jobs. Wow, we could have been HGTV neighbors!

I love the location!!! I looked it up on Mapquest and Stowe is only a 20 minute drive to Montpelier (the State Capital). Also, if you want to go to Burlington(the largest city)……it is only a 45 minute drive from Stowe. Plus, Stowe is a resort location with plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy during all 4 seasons. I hear the home is going to be rustic comtemporary……..sounds perfect to me. A beautiful mountain home, warm, cozy, and with the best view on earth!! I cannot wait to see the floorplans. I like rustic…….it suits me perfectly. Plus, I believe that contemporary means the home will have large windows………..I hope so!!! Wow……this home is going to be stunning!!!! Thank you Mary for letting us off the hook today…..I feel much better now.

Well, here we are again with another HGTV Dreamhome. I have to wonder "why they continue to build these houses". It must be to bring viewers to HGTV. It isn't because the average individual who might win this home 'WOULD BE ABLE TO KEEP IT". What average individual, with an average income, would be able to afford to keep a dream home that usually cost at least a mil. I WOULD MUCH RATHER SEE THEM BUILD AN AFFORDABLE HOME, IN THE UNDER 1/2 million range, and even that is high for people who don't live in California. This shouldn't be about advertising every company that donates products to this home, but about giving a prize that someone can afford to own. Plus, your chance of winning it is slim to none.
Lanie62 on June 19, 2010 at 3:36 am
I have to agree strongly with Lanie62's comment. WE live in California ONLY because we're disabled & my kind of rich ( at one time) parents bought this fixer-upper for my sister & I. Of course we think Ca.'s beautiful and has nice climate, BUT we still don't have a pool, asbestos is leaking through all of the floor tiles, we need more of a backyard, a fence in the front, etc. etc. I guess we ought to try for "Extreme Makeovers," too. The cold weather would be GREAT for my sister (with M.S.), but we both prefer a warmer climate. We've snow ski'd before & it was really fun, but THAT is very expensive & we can't do that anymore. Anyway, I'm not trying to get pity at all…I just WISH the 2011 Dream Home was further southeast or south & would be handicapped accessable (sp?). ANYWAY, maybe the 2012 Dream Home will be more suited for us?????!!!!!!! BUT I do have to say "I told you so!" Me & many other bloggers guessed Vermont awhile ago. GOOD LUCK to you all!!!

Now that we've come to a close with "the reveal", and turning the page to a new chapter "the design", I'm really looking forward to the 2011 HGTV Dream Home…I love old world rustic charm, so this should be very exciting.
I love to move to Vermont, can’t wait to start on this one.

does the winner know he or she won or do they find out June 28

I think that New England area is good, about time they went North, and I'm sure it will be a beautiful setting and the design will go with the area.
Diane Lawson on June 23, 2010 at 4:59 pm
It would be nice to get to vote on the floor plan hope it happen.
Jan B on June 23, 2010 at 6:46 pm
Having lived in New England all my life, I think you have made the right choice. We live in Sunapee, NH, also a ski/lake resort area, but visit our timeshare in Stowe twice a year. There are so many things to do and see, within close proximity to Stowe. In the clues, you showed Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream, which was a dead giveaway for me, but I would like to mention that the VonTrapp Family Lodge is not far from there and a sight to see and visit. The homemade Maple Sugar ice cream, in the village of Stowe, is to die for! I guess I will be visiting and keeping up with the construction of this build! I certainly won’t be missing any opportunities to enter the sweepstakes on it!
Faithful Fan,

I missed the challenge of guessing the location of the Next HGTV Home., but when I came on this site and saw the view, I knew it was Vermont for I am from near that area. Hiked the mountains and lived in Burlington, Vt. Living in Colorado presently, but home is Vermont. P. Tetreault

Well, we did manage to get ride of the sidebar, but I have no way of replying to a previous post, now. Yeah…?
Wow! Just finished viewing the site photos and boy what a view… again HGTV does it right… if we don't win the Giveaway tomorrow can we start entering for this one now?! LOL
THis looks like a perfectly delightful location. All American Village with lots of history. My mothers family landed prior to 1630 in Lynn, Mass. & Highland Falls New York was the landing of the military Germans from my fathers side. They were (cerare Military and town businessman.prior to the Civil Waar. I would have an absolutly fabulous time exploring all that old space & history. We would love the adventure of a new world, knowing that we have family not too far away and lots to learn. Villages like this have so much to learn about
One never learns too much. There is always moore. Some just takes moretime that others,
The location is BEAUTIFUL!!! We have always wanted to leave CA and can hardly wait to start entering our names 4 Dream House 2011 – Hold on Vermont- Here we come!
I so agree with the person who made the comment about you doing a handicap accessable home. That would be better then the 2-story ones that is unless you want to put in a elevator or lift chair. The baby boomer generation is approaching rapidly. Designers need to become more aware that we need better homes designed for US. What is wrong with the mid west?? There are some pretty fantastic places here too?? I think your next home site should be in the mid west with handicap accessiblity for people in power wheelchairs. That would be perfect. With adjustable sinks, wheelchairs that can just ride in to shower stalls, cabinets that are easily reachable, wider doorways, and most important commodes that are high rise. Wall sockets that are higher so you don't need to crawl on floors to plug in a lamp, door handles that are levers not knobs. Let a diabled person advise you from our point of view!!!
I LOVE IT! THE LOCATION LOOKS SO BEAUTIFUL!
I CAN’T WAIT TO WIN IT!

How many acres is this house to be on; hopefully not too close to other facades. Considering the number of trees in the area I would assume that there are to be "guards" over the rain gutters!. Were the trees that were removed mulched? In my present home I really like having a shower, toilet, and sink in with my laundry which is not far from the back entrance (my husband worked construction and went directly to the shower area at the end of his work day) This site is a GREAT CHOICE– four season changes with beautiful foilage.
Although all aspects of the poll would be exiting to be part of, WHAT could be more exiting then a FINISHING NAIL !!! Like finishing a Marathon, building a Pyramid, getting a PhD degree, climbing a Mt. Everest – a great feeling of accomplishment, although not mine, just like I have never accomplished any of the above. But NAILING THAT LAST NAIL would bring me closest to any great accomplishments I would still love to make in my lifetime … AND … I would get to see this AMAZING structure …. please, please, give me that hammer, the building is going up SOOOOOOOO fast …
being from the south, i would love to have a white christmas every year!…

I could not be more excited to see this home being built in Stowe! I am completely obsessed with HGTV and can literally watch it 24/7! It is, for me, one of the best tv shows to spend time watching. The ideas, inspiration and lessons learned from the various shows are fabulous! Living minutes from Stowe and working in the town of Stowe I will be able to keep track of the progess on a daily basis….and will hopefully get to meet Jack! I am one of the most excited FANS you have! Welcome to Stowe and thank you for choosing this location! Deb

I am disappointed. Why Vermont? Why haven't any of your staff even thought about places like new york city, or somewhere near new york city? Why not new jersey? Everybody is not a fan of seclusion and some of us are nowhere near retirement. We need to step the game up a bit…grab some excitement. Why not miami? Somewhere near miami? Why not build a dream home within the city? My idea of a dream home is in a walkable community near transportation, near restaurants, nightlife, good schools, and yet nestled away in nature. How about Chestnut Hill or Mount Airy located in Philadelphia, or Gladwyn, montgomery county which is located about 10 minutes from Philadelphia. Come on HGTV…Live a little. I am in my thirties with a family and sleepy towns are not for active people. However, this would make a nice vacation home!

After vewing your area selection I was very impressd with the area an the location. After
raising my daughter as a single parent while

Stowe Vermont is the ultimate get-away spot and a great town to live in. I lived in VT for over 20 years and
spent lots of time in Stowe. My dream is to one day have a home there again. That's why I'd like to visit the site with Jack. I know some great restaurants, Jack. Dinner's on me Thanks, HGTV!
I went to Vermont for the first time this year and I love it there!!!! I am so excited to follow the progress of the HGTV Dream Home 2011. I would love to have a home there. It is going to be gorgeous I am sure. I have wanted a log home for a long time.
