Contributor to HGTV Dream Home
Just an FYI that comments on the Clue 14 post have been closed. I’m so sorry for the delay in updating you.
While we wait for the location announcement, will you participate in a poll? I’d love to know your thoughts.
Mary is a contributor to HGTV Dream Home.

OMG !! OMG!! At last, at last !!!
Thank you so much gremol for letting us know on the green home blog that this reveal is coming! That was the first time I had checked on a GH blog, since I have beeen so wrapped up in these DH clue blogs. I am so excited to finally find out the DH 2011 location after 2 months of blogging about it. Yahoo! Thank you Mary and Jack for finally revealing to us. I hope it will be really soon. And yes, I would love to participate in a poll for HGTV.
I know, I about jumped out of my seat:-) We have to be close, now!
Hi gremol, I share the joy OMG OMG is right. Oh woowww!!!!!
I don't know how to blog! But, I figured that the dream home should be in Delaware. First stae, cow on the flag, peach blossom is state flower, etc…
The clues could certainly fit Delaware too. Never know.
I would love to earn the opportunity to go and help Linda decorate the green home. I would love to leave my signature on the kids' room, and help around on the others. Please make my dream come true and fly me out to come help you dear dear Linnda. Thank you!

I'm new to this blog thing so here goes….
Vermont is beautiful! I'm so excited about the new Dream Home 2011. Every year I tell my husband I'm going to win and then I DON'T. But its fun trying and seeing each new home.
Good luck to all!
What an awesome location and chapter Jack & co have created for HGTV's eclectic green story book!
I can't decide. It will take me a few hours to decide. I would like to choose them all. Can we have 10 votes each?
Cami where is the poll? Is there a new one on the main page?
Can't you see it above this post at the top.. It is in a gray box. Maybe yours didn't load or something.
I missed the "hammer the last nail" option. I want that one because it would also cover the second option and put me on the build site where I can just toss out a few ideas to Linda, too LOL.
Very clever Debra. I was trying to figure out how to get to do them all?? Two isn't bad.
You know me, always mutli-tasking LOL!!!
Actually, it would also cover visiting the building site. You know Jack would be there to supervise the hammering of the nail. So this option covers everything but the floor plans.
Certified smart girls in the room!
I like how we all work together to figure things out!
Cami apologized to you. Please find it in your heart to forgive her. Hope you have a good evening.
Hey everybody —here it comes, hold on tight, breathe, waiting!!!
You'll have to wait until at least tomorrow-bare minimum ;o)
REALLY! I'm a New Englander at heart, born a Texan. We lived in Massachusetts for 8 years where we raised 4 children. As often as we could we would visit Burlington and cross Lake Champlain on a ferry to go to a summer family camp. We are all back in Texas, or in a neighboring state; but, oh, to be back in New England, esp. Vermont!
well im kind of an out sider and new to this blogging but i dont think anything cami said was rude. sounds like the other person is the one that cant quit being rude and get over it. this is a place where people can go and exspress their own opinions and ideals. who cares if someone dont agree, get over it and move on. and im not gonna keep on with the arguing with you newbie if you reply to this comment. so dont exspect a response. and thumbs up cami, your doing a good job. good luck to the winner!!!! it will be time to know very very soon!!!!!
You said it becky !!
And this comes from the one who had a remark earlier that I reported because of it's offensive language. Then he deleted it about 10 minutes later. This is the behavior that I am talking about Mary. It is not good for HGTV's reputation nor is it good for this blog!
And in complete disregard to what Mary is asking people on this blog continue to support someone who obviously and blatantly made a rude and disrespectful statement. It's funny how they continue to make comments but blame me for the one carrying on. Mary, this kind of behavior is not good for this board. Back a while ago one person left because of a rude comment that was made. Those that have been on here for a long time have formed a "click" and are rude to many people that have just started getting on here. They themselves have talked of how they ban together…which would be a good thing if it wasn't banning together to back up each other being rude and disrespectful!
Newby, Cami apologized. Can you accept her apology, please? It would great if you could. None of us ever mean to hurt anyone's feelings, yours included.
I think it takes a certain amount of maturity for that type of action. Obviously someone is lacking in that ability & will continue clogging the blog. Nice try though Becky! thumbs up!
Like I said….here is a good quote:
"never argue with an idiot they drag you down to their level then beat you with experience."
Wish I would have come across that sooner lol!
Newby: This is no laughing matter. You are accusing people of ruining HGTV's reputation? How ludicrous is that! You talk about a "click" of long time bloggers being rude and disrespectful…..? I am a long time blogger and I find (us) humorous, curious, informative, encouraging, prayers when needed.
I don't understand why you feel you have to police the blog and report to headquarters. You are not needed for that job. Admin. does an excellent job. Take a vacation, rest and come back refreshed.
I agree Becky everyone here has worked very hard for that self expression, and we all need to unleash and get things off our chests.
I'm biting my tongue or should I say my fingers since they are doing the talking for me on here. All I have to say is that I have been a group moderator & banished trolls like Newby who only want to bring everyone else down to their level.
If you have ever been a group moderator then you would know what a troll is. I'm not a troll….I'm a blogger defending myself against a group of veteran bloggers who like to chase new contributors away. I don't bite my fingers or my tongue because no one else here does
I feel the same way sometimes when a word or two gets mismatched. We are not able to see each other's faces, if we were everything, would be taken in fun. So the next best thing is to put one moments madness into sixty seconds worth of distance run-Rudyard Kipling. We all have too much to say, and all are heard.
Mary PLEASE don't turn this blog around, we'll be extra good !!!
Maybe the turning this blog around comment means to turn it back to the New Mexico blogs, for maybe the new DH is also in NM?????? Ha!
It could happen
That would be fantabulous!!!!
Sounds like that song…
don't take your love to town,
don't turn that blog around,
that skiier was the last HGTV clue upside down.
the home sits on a 4393 ft. snow mound
I almost missed your comment Mary. "Don't make me turn this blog around" LOL (with head bowed and with a dejected look upon my face) I am sorry Mother Mary, I will try to be more careful about my choice of words next time. Thanks for letting me apologize again, and have the last word ; ) Please don't punish the whole blog, most of them have been very, very good. Please continue onward with the very very slow pace that Father Jack has set for us..
Bless you my daughter! You've been good! No need for confession!
I was going to reply to you about having Debra's Unbirthday party but found out Clue 14 was closed. Couldn't get here fast enough. Haven't seen Debra for a while. I am not a veteran on this blog but I am a disabled veteran and I resent having someone use that word in a negative way. I don't want to respond to that person because I don't want to say something I would regret. If it wasn't for You, Cami, Our Army Family, C&E, DB Coop and so many others this blog would'nt be so much fun. This person is trying to destroy the atmosphere and I wish there was something we could do about it.
Ahhh…thank you for saying we make the blogging fun…we try…some days harder than others.
Sending love to ALL of the bloggers.
I think the only thing we can do is ignore it completely!
Am I having a unbirthday party? I thoroughly enjoyed my regular birthday party so this sounds like fun! But, I have been off the blog for a while and I think I missed something. Am I supposed to bring the cake? I can do that! How many are coming (for cake ordering purposes…)?
Can I be the mad hatter? A very happy unbirthday to you.
Why thank you! I don't feel a day older:-)
I think there will be several they are already expressing an interest. Remember we are going to meet half-way on I-5. Cami is going to look cute driving down the freeway in her Mad Hatter outfit. Does the cake come in different sizes? You probably should order the largest one they have. We will have a lot to celebrate. And even more if it is in VIRGINIA!
Got it! Clearly I was having a blonde moment. I didn't realize it was my unbirthday party (or, maybe it was that over 50 thing LOL). I thought it was a bloggie party. Halfway sounds great and yes, they do come in a 6" and a 9" version. With all the layers there will be plenty to go around, but slicing them gets messy (trust me). I say we slice it in half and we can agree on assigned sections:-)
How bout if some of us hunker down in the cake, and then pop out when we have the HGTV Reveal. Uh Oh did I ruin the surprise? I think Mary is going to surprise us with her own cake popping surprise.
Maybe they will have Jamie pop out of the cake.
THAT sounds very nice!!!!
Boy Debra. You're supposed to have an unbirthday party to appease the rain gods. It seems like when you had your birthday, the weather was beautiful. Since you can only have one birthday a year, we figured if you had an unbirthday it would work your magic too. Hurry up! The thunder & lightning, the hail and the downpours today are playing heck with all the work my landscapers are doing outside today. At least they got the backyard rotortilled before it got too bad. I promise I won't pick on your weather anymore, if you call Thor off! ^_^
Oh that one as meek as I should have such powers. Think about it Ed, don't you think I would have done this by now if I could LOL?!?!? But, ever the eternal optimist I am harnessing my ultra-super powers and waving my magic wand rigggght…, NOW!
I think you have powers you don't realize you have. It is now partially cloudy out there! Thank you!
Holy cow! Seriously?!? Channel, Debra, channel… VIRGINIA, VIRGINIA, VIRGINIA…
This may seem like a strange request, but since you seem to have a lot to share could you send some clouds my way again. Our forcast is sunny all week.
I'll make a deal with you. I'll trade any cloudy days I might get for your sunny ones but someone else has to trade me some days in low 80s. It gets hotter than blazing hades around here during the summer. i want to enjoy getting outside without melting.
I had soo much fun today on the thread you started. There are more than 100 plus comments all of us wanting to go to the party you started. Love to you, and all your thoughts.
Everybody loves a party!
That's the spirit! Don't forget to visualize, while your channeling!
I second that. I love this blog site and all it's colorful characters. It took me one entire day to figure out how to join Intensedebate—-and I'm not about to give this progress up now!!!! This is the first time I've ever joined a blog—-so as I give it a "10" I also give myself a "good job girl" I know how to pick 'em!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL LOL
PS: Besides Khazzie and Simi have now become "HGTV blog junkies" also. haha
Me too! Soney is a blog junkie too!
Good boy, Soney. Khazzie and Simi would be in awe of you, I can tell by the way your Mom talks about you. Here's LOL from us.
Is he your 80 pound lap dog?
Soney is 80 pounds and growing. He almost weighs as much as I do. Thankfully he loves to play baseball until the cows come home. Unfortunately my pitching arm gets tired. I am going to have to research if someone makes an automatic ball throwing machine!
What breed is Soney? Max is what we call a malamutt since he's Malamute/Shepherd/??? mix. He's 90-lbs of pure love & goofiness & he too thinks he's a lap dog. We think Elvis is English shepherd mix because of his looks & herding desire. Of course, he dreams of being a sled dog too if Mama wasn't such a wus.
Mutts are the best dogs!
They sure are. I say I have several different good dogs all balled up in two. I wouldn't trade them for anything not even the 2010 Dream Home or winning lottery ticket.
The just become part of the family, don't they.
They sure do. I hadn't had a dog since 1981 or 82 until we adopted Elvis in 2005. I had developed asthma & allergies REAL bad in early 80s so when our last childhood dog died, my parents didn't get any more. After that & before Elvis, I would either break out in hives or have itchy eyes & shortness of breath when I got around dogs. When I held him & he didn't cause any bad reactions, I knew he was the one. Then a year later we adopted Max.
Some things are just meant to be. : )
Yes they are & I definitely believe in fate.
i have two rescued dogs. Both German Shepherds or so they were advertised. One is about 30 lbs, black and tan, fully grown. One has red curly hair, black muzzel, weighing about 45 pounds fully grown. Had raised German Shepherds and these two wonderful creatures only have the heart and mind in common with a German Shepherd so it must be that all dogs are wonderful creatures. They both are wonderful dogs. My rescued cats love them. Spay and neuter your pets, please.
All of my fur kids–cats & dogs–have been neutered. If it would get rid of some of the ego & attitude around here, I'd neuter my husband & son too, haha. German Shepherds are great. We had one as kids & she was awesome.
And I've been spayed, lol.
Cami's sons made catapults in scouts. Sounds like a good option.
And yall are rubbing off on me too.
Kudos to you:-) I was a neophyte in April of this year and the same people helped me figure out Intense Debate, and a myriad of other "things" I couldn't figure out on my own.
Hey, Mary, I think we could have our own HGTV Bloggers show. Give us a potential project and we can analyze it six different ways to Monday, and entertain the masses doing it LOL!
Dear Debra: I didn't figure it out—— YOU and CAMI and others WALKED me though the entire process. Without your help I would have been in tears. I still have more things to figure out but not right now.
Hope you enjoyed every crumb of that wonderful B-Day cake. LOL
Thank you, it was a group effort:-) As for that cake, it was FABULOUS!
I don't think I've ever had one of those but I am a big cake fan which is starting to show on my once girlish figure the past few years.
If I ever get accused of a crime, I want all of you on the jury. Now, there is an idea for a new show. We get to be jury to dueling designers.
Oh, Boomer awesome idea!! Such a visual this is. I vote for it LOL LOL
I suspect we'd all be in on it together. lol
Funny! As I read this one of my daughter's cats is sitting on the printer next to me! She is fascinated with the screen! LOL
This is great. Two more potential HGTV blogger pals. I play fish videos for Khazzie and Simi. (yes, I know how bonkers I sound) LOL
My dogs love to watch other dogs on videos & Max the malamutt (mal/shep/? mix) loves to howl with other dogs & roo roo with other mals & huskies on videos. Elvis hates for him to howl.
Funny my dog, little bear, used to accompany when I practiced the accordion. That was many years ago!
Max will howl to the harmonica too. You should have heard him & my sister's little rat terrier howling together once when we were visiting. my sister says that was the beginning of Lucy's singing days, lol. Lucy loves Max making them an odd looking couple with her tiny self beside his huge self.
I taught me Jack Russel to howl before she passed away. She would ride with me in the car, and first I would howl and then both of us woud be on the highway at full force howling up a storm.
LOL! Sounds like the howling sessions with Max. He will let me know alot of times he wants to have a howl along by looking at me & doing this low whine & then wait. Soon as I start, he starts. Once I took Elvis to the post office with me when he was a puppy & he had already figured out the music came from box in the dash. There was a church next to the post office paying a song with the bells that he obviously liked because when it stopped playing, he started pawing & growling at the dash thinking it was on the radio & I had turned it off. He sulked with his head turned looking away from me the rest of the way home.
Elvis has a high level of intelligence and I bet he talks. Imitation of sounds without the fricatives. I bet he repeats names or phrases with intonation like "I dont know", and "I wanna go".
One of my dogs will look behind the television after watching dogs on TV. I think he thinks they are back there. Amazing since I think he has a brain the size of a walnut.
LOL boomer I was just going back through the blogs…this is hysterical. How many dogs do you have?
I also wanted to say what a BIG heart you have which I can tell from many of the blogs… You are a wonderful example of what a fun and caring person/blogger can and should be Thank You !!!
Zoie, that means a lot to me coming from you. You have brought a smile to my heart many times. It is so wonderful to meet wise bloggers like you and to learn from their experiences.
My family has 2 dogs, 1 cat, and 2 snakes; an eastern chain king and a red corn. My husband is a self educated herpetologist. I love all of our pets. The reptiles are actually the easiest to care for. We take them outside in the summer to climb the trees and move about in the fenced vegetable garden. Otherwise they stay in the wonderful habitats we have created for them indoors. They hibernate in the winter. But of course they aren't as cuddly at the 3 mammals.
Boomer you are so sweet, many thanks for the wonderful compliment and I feel the same way about you!!! I am fortunate to have met you !!!
So you have 2 dogs, 1 cat and 2 snakes…haha wow. I am SCARED to death of snakes, even little snakes and this sounds nuts but worms give me the creeps (at least I am not scared of them…lol). Please if you don't mind tell me what is endearing about snakes… there are so many people that have them as pets so they must be lovable in their own way. I really would like to understand. Thanks Boomer !!!
Oh gosh that is soo funny boomer. What extraordinary intelligence animals have.
When I first bought my wolf howling cd to try to get Elvis to howl, he was looking all over the house for them instead & finally followed the sound to the tv & gave me this ticked off look. Not Max, the first sound of a howl, he threw his head back & sang along with them. Elvis is very curious about crying babies on tv and gets excited by laughter & bossy about arguing even on the tv & he recognizes Kiefer Sutherland's voice, lol. The funniest two times with Elvis watching tv was when we were watching an Elvis Presley movie & he saw the guy's face singing to EP's voice & started growling & barking. The other time was watching our wedding video & he looked at the tv, then us, then the tv & started barking at us on tv like we were imposters or something.
These stories are so funny! It is no wonder we love dogs so much.
You are so right about that. Who needs the comedy channel for laughs or teddy bears to snuggle with when you have dogs?
ttsousa1 that is hysterical… I will have to try that with my dogs haha but Keifer Sutherland's voice too…haha that's wild… that reminds me of a Seinfeld episode where Kramer went crazy when he heard Mary Harts voice. lol..;.thanks for the giggles !!!
Yeah, he loved watching 24 with us & when I put in a movie with Kiefer & he hears his voice, he comes running to the living rooom & plops down in front of the tv to watch with me. Have I got him trained right or what? He loves Kiefer, gospel music, & he knows an Elvis Presley imposter when he sees one, hahahaha
Cody cat use to love watching our tank gang when we had an aquarium & my mom's too. I want another tank but going to wait until hubby is done moving with the military.
My kitties are fascinated by the computer too.
Cats love to be involved. My cat sits on the back of my chair while I blog. He does not correct my spelling but being up there drives the dogs nuts and I have to read all the posts to all of them.
That's funny! I can picture you sitting there reading your posts aloud to the animals. I wonder how much they understand?
Thanks for the compliment, and right back at you — I too enjoy having fun on this blog! I think we will all be ready to party when the location is finally revealed and an Unbirthday party for Debra sounds like a great idea! Debra, the Smith Island cake site has a lemon blueberry version as its cake of the month for June or July (I forget which month!), so now I am torn between that and the strawberry one! If we do an Unbirthday party for you we can have one of each!
We have a winner! As a Gemini, my other self would love two cakes, too LOL! Funny the Smith Island strawberry one was for May. I usually have strawberry shortcake for my birthday in June. That peach one looked fabulous, too. Seriously, we have a large group and could easily polish off half a dozen of these cakes! By the way, I know most people don't know this, but I LOVE cake!!!
Oh for sure it will take at least two cakes or two dozen for the unbirthday Gemini party——that's why Geminis' are so much fun to be around. hehe LOL LOL
There you go telling us more secrets! ^_^
This is going to be one big fun Unbirthday Party for Debra. All those flavors sound yummy. You mean they have a cake of the month club oh my I will have to check that out! See ya
This is turning out to be the birthday that just keeps giving LOL:-)
I hope I am not too late for the unbirthday party. Did anyone bring the pineapple upside down cake someone mentioned a few clues back? I brought flowers from my garden.
YOu are just in time:-) BTW, LOVE the flowers! What are they?
Peonies, originally from my beloved grandmother's garden. I have taken them everywhere I have moved. 2 shades of pink and white and they smell incredible. And they do not have ants!
Thank you, Boomer! They're PERFECT!
Sounds like people are going to keep gaining while the birthday keeps on giving cake! ^_^
Yep, we'll need extra wide doorways by the time the party ends, lol.
Eddie, I couln't get back to you on the other thread, and just wanted to say that in Parke,r the water looked clear to me, but I know the lakes and streams you traverse look like the very berry of waters. I have yet to see them, and will continue on this trek. Looking for my own lake, the property we saw was all dust-forget it.
I haven't been called Eddy in years! Are you trying to make me feel younger? Having been to the Colorado a "few" times it just seemed like an oxymoron to mention the Colorado and clear in the same sentence. Dust isn't too bad if you have enough water to irrigate! By the way there is some great striped bass fishing in the Colorado! ^_^
Well EdinOregon, you remind me of a boy/man and you know you can never take the kid out of the man, so if you don't mind when you are behaving yourself, I would like to call you Eddy. I am sorry to say that the oxy more on is on my floor. I use it to wash aways dust and dirt, and it works quite well. On your irrigation comment, you are correctamundo, irrigation and a water source is the first thing I investigate on the property, and out there in Twenty Nine Palms, there was not much of what I wanted on the ten acres of land. This is not an area I would recommend to HGTV, but I sure do like getting out and pacing property. I will be doing alot of that in the next couple of years. By the way, is it possible to find your own lake on property in Oregon?
Been to twenty nine palms. Definitely a hot dry area. If one has enough money you can buy anything Janzee. Seriously though they do have land on lakes. Some of it is private property some of it is government leased land. There are also a lot of farm acreage that has five to twenty acre ponds on them. Sorry i took so long to reply. my fourteen year old daughter found our (her) 2 pound chihuaha on the bathroom floor dead. He was only 1 year old and she was devastated. It has taken awhile for the crisis to die down. Very SAD! No problem with the name! ^_^
Oh Ed, I am so sorry to hear that your dog passed away. Those little chihuahas have a tendency to have heart problems. I know how your daughter is feeling, and I am very sorry to hear this news, and as Cami has said, we all grieve with you. Most recently when our Jack Russel passed, we had a burial service in back of the house, all the neighbors and her cat came to pay respects. The ritual of some sort of service always helps everyone and offers solace. If you have another chihuaha in your life, you will see the myriad of similarities almost as though Daisey is trying to tell you something. What I tell all my friends is that YOUR family comes first, you dont have to answer any of my posts – you come to visit when you please. Thank you for all of the land info it was very generous of you.
My wife is creating a memorial garden in the back yard for my son who passed away in September. He loved that little dog too. That might be a good place to inter Micro! Thank you for the kind works.
All of a sudden I am feeling intense emotion like gushing water. As I read your post, I am trying to stay very focused. I am smug and flip and sometimes think that I have severe problems until I hear about our friends who have lost a child. As a parent it is the greatest heartache, but I believe very strongly that in heaven we will be reunited with our family and continue in the higher domain. Years ago, when I was producing for PBS, I met a woman for lunch who looked at me and told me that she saw my grandma. She described Matea to a tee with long dark braids and a smile on her face. Then she asked who was standing next to her, she referred to Marco by name, and I began to cry. Marco was Matea's son who passed away at two. She said they were standing together and having a party. The word "party" was the secret code between grandma and I when she passed. All at once I realized that life as we know it continues in a higher domain. My LDS friends say that all will be reunited again. Continue your joy Eddie and be in this world with happiness. May you be blessed and healed from all sadness. The commemorative garden is a wonderful idea.
Ed, I am so sorry to hear this news. I can sympathize with the how you and your wife must feel. My niece died 10 years ago. She was only 10 at the time. My sister worked the soil at her gravesite and created the most beautiful garden there. For the longest time my son referred to graveyards as grave-gardens. I love the thought of creating a memorial garden by the house.
My sister gave my kids some of Ruby's trinkets. One was a collection of bubble gum machine aliens that you see in many stores. We decided to start adding to the collection. We put a quarter in the first alien machine we saw, turned the knob and was amazed with what we received. The tiny green alien was holding a sign that said, "Miss You." We all started crying, realizing it was a message from Ruby.
I pray the the loving memories of you son will help you through the difficult times. Hugs to you and your wife.
Thank you boomer. Your story brought a tear to my eye. I do believe Chris communicates to us from time to time. Especially through his dog!
Janzee, every time one of my sister's senior pets dies, my parents & her next door neighbors all gather for graveside service in her backyard for them.
I just caught this one. i am SO sorry about your daughter's dog. That is very sad indeed. give her a hug from me.
Ed, I am so sorry to hear about Micro! Give your daughter a hug from all of us and let her know she has our sympathy — the memorial garden for your son sounds lovely and would be the perfect place for your sweet little dog!
Oh jeez, P.S. thanks for your comment yesterday. I couldn't get back to it on clue 14, but I will tell the photographer you liked her work. I also love the way the light comes through the trees.
Cami, your Heavenly Father will forgive you. OK, Mary and Jack, please bring on our BIG DH 2011 REVEAL! But NOT in the slow pace Cami said, but in the Energizer Bunny's pace. YES! Thank you!
Thanks for insisting on the energizer bunny, I was in an ever so humble position, I felt I couldn't ask for too much. LOL.
By the way did all of your kids make it out of the house to boy scout camp?
Yes, and they should be coming home soon. My how time flies. Thanks for asking.
Is it really camp if they come home in the same day? That doesn't involve actual camping… I have never gone camping so I don't know, but it seems at least on night away would be required. Otherwise it is just more work for Mom…
Actually it was like sending them to school..Pretty easy, they tend to come home with more then they take though. They have a few overnighters too. That is more work.
Today they came home with trees and catapults.
I think you need to clarify that statement Cami. I picture Catapults like the Romans used to use! ^_^
Think little 6 inch blocks with popsicle sticks and rubbler bands.
The image I am seeing of my husband towing 6 large catapults behind the car as he dropped off each boy, is pricless, thank you. LOL The mother comes running out of the house yelling-No Way you are not leaving that thing at my house. Sheesh you would think she was talking about an elephant…..
That was my imagination running away with itself sorry.
No apologies necessary. If you can't let your imagination run away from you, in front of your fellow blogchiatrists, where can you? ^_^
Are you planting the trees? Save the catapults for the next food fight. We might need them.
It's probably day camp Debra. I used to go camping all of the time. Now the wife won't go without a motor home!
Wow, a lady who doesn't mind roughing it. I won't go unless it is camping at the Hilton!
Funny! But I believe you! Do you bring your tiara? ^_^
Now, Ed, that would not be practical. I wear my jacket with the crown embroidered on it. I could add a few rhinestones to it though… Hmmm, come to think of it…:-D
Have fun! By the way some of those multiple million dollar motor homes are better than a suite at the Hilton! ^_^
Now that is the proper way to camp!
My husband likes to camp out one night and stay in a hotel the next. After about 2 whole nights of camping, he packs up the tent and camps in the hotel.
I bet they don't appreciate him driving those tent stakes in their floor! ^_^
Not the slow pace! All the troopers are having coffee. Step on it Father Jack, the road is clear, the weather is fine and one of us has to go to the bathroom. The next rest stop is THE LOCATION!
YES!!! That is exactly just the ploy we need to get us there faster. It might be more effective if a few more girls have to go. I think I need to go too father!!! Don't bother boys, Father Jack will just pull off to the side of the road for you guys.
Or give the boys a jar. I gotta go too!
Been there done that! Especially now that I am older! ^_^ Can't wait!!!!!!
Me too, me too.
We have gone from tiaras to tinkling?!? Mary, do you see what happens when we don't get what we want? Location, PLEASE!!!!!!
LOL! Well, you know what happens when you get stuck & have to wait a long time. Full bladders & insanity.
Funny. It's stange how we segued that way! ^_^
Don't worry sweet Cami. I'm not really sure just what went on here, but I can tell anyone that you are a very sincere, very real person and were never mean, rude, or clicky in anyway to me. In fact, you welcomed me right away. I sincerely enjoy your friendship and I value it. I think that we all need to move forward and put this all behind us, because for the most part I think there are more important things to worry about. Sometimes, when we blog, it's hard not to write things that others might take offense to and it might not be taken the way that you were intending it to. I think that we all have done it from time to time. I say, Oops!!! If I took offense to everything that people said and didn't mean for it to sound the way that it did, I would be mad at the whole world all the time. So, Happy Dreaming to you, Cami!!!! TTYS
This was the link i clicked on from dreamn_again: http://www.hgtvpro.com/hpro/dh_2011/article/0,314…
It takes you to the story.
I too am new to the blog and I am really enjoying reading all the comments and different postings and I am also excited to see where this house is going to be!! though i have to say upon checking out the clues for the past few months, im sticking with my gut….Vermont!! =) hugs to all!!
I think Vermont also. I'm still leaning toward Mad River Valley area, Stowe, or someplace close that area.
Hugs to you to JTodd28, isn't this sooo much fun?
Hugs to you too. I am still dreaming about a mountain farm in the south.
I am not new to the blog just kind of a lurker (shhhhh – don't tell anyone) but from all the clues I have to reveal myself for a brief moment and disagree with you. I cast my humble vote of location for the Poconos of Northeastern Pennsylvania…. famous for honeymoons, close to New York's border (hence close to the city), very close to the infamous "Rattlesnake Roundup" and a few different mountains for skiing. As a matter of fact one has a slogan of Vermont skiing without the drive soooooooooooo……. yup – I vote for the Poconos of NEPA… I really hope not since I live around here and so I KNOW WHAT IS HAPPENING AROUND HERE AND IT IS NOT PRETTY WITH THE FEDS AND ALL but ya know how that goes…… Much love and good luck to the winner wherever the house may be…
Sorry Sally! hgtvpro let the cat out of the bag earlier. They had the Stowe Vermont announcement and the first 50 construction pictures posted for a few hours. Before they realized their mistake and pulled the link!
All I can say is PHEW!!!!! lol……. I can only picture the crew working on the house with the Feds looking over their shoulders in PA….. lol
Welcome! And your gut was right! Stowe Vermont! ^_^
Oh yes. I want to help design the location of the laundry rooms(s), all 4 fireplace locations, and the lagoon style pool area. Yippee! You think they want my advice? Hummmm….
I know….im thinking nice outdoor hottub for nights out in the snow, a path for sledding with a t-bar lift would be cool to go with it!! Def. many fireplaces, gas preferrably….hahhaa….at least a 3 car garage, a big eat in kitchen, hardwood floors but yet with a rustic-y log cabin type feel to it esp if it is up in the mountains!! Oh yeah, they would hear my suggestions, cover thier ears and start saying lalalalala….=)
Humm. More than one laundry room. Genius. I just hope there is a clothesline for summer drying.
I'd love to help design a pet room that leads to outside area for them to hang out in safety as well.
What a wonderful idea ttsousa!
Oh, I like that idea!
Soney likes that idea too!
Great idea, ttsousa. My cats are indoor only but are leash trained. Being able to let them out in the sun on their own is something I've wanted for a long time. There are some great designs for outdoor pet spaces.
Great idea! Let it have a place for rinsing off dirty/muddy paws, a floor that is easy to clean but not too slippery, enough space so that dogs could hang out there when they must be kept from getting underfoot in the house, and a separate section for cats that leads out to an enclosed area like a screened porch so that elderly cats like mine can lounge in the sun safely!
Yes, yes, yes, all the above C& E. My cats are leash trained but since we have had to move in with grandma and grandpa, they get to go outside in a beautiful landscaped area which is safe and enclosed but I prefer they not do this and would like something as you stated.
To me it seems like this is blogging as usual for all of the veterans here….so I will carry on too. It's not about arguing….it's about standing up for oneself.
Anyway, I have come to the conclusion that the majority of people on here lack good 'ol common sense. So the issue has everything to do with psychology…they try to make themselves feel better by trying to belittle others. It's okay people…they do have help for that and I will posts some good places for you in the near future
Let's see…….I think I was in the 5th grade the last time I said "let's step outside". I always won too
Since then I've learned to control my anger in that way. One thing I will never do though is back down. In any situation I will stand up for myself when I know I am in the right!!
Step outside to a woman doesn't mean the same thing to a man. Women talk it over, for hours until they cry and hug. Men tend to get thrown over and can't move for hours, then they just cry.
I am woman hear me roar, Cami….when it comes to Newby, just ignore!!!
Once again…..a fake……who wants people to feel sorry for them.
A fake person is someone who is not genuine and will do whatever it takes to make themselves look good. They will downplay others to illuminate themselves. Fake people take part in hypocrisy and lies. They will change their personality to fit in to a certain group.
I’m impressed, I’ve never met such a small mind inside such a big head before!
That sounds like a threat…maybe you should report that to the police.
Newby! Do you understand that this is a blog for people interested in the HGTV Dream home and not people that want to listen to you rant on about yourself! If you can't find somthing constructive to add to the conversation why don't you just move on!
LOL…good one, MARY!
As for the poll—there's only one clear choice for me.
If I were to visit the construction site with Jack, I'd pepper him with questions about the location of the NEXT Dream Home, and Jack would end up sending me home!
If I helped Linda Woodrum decorate one room, we'd probably end up disagreeing over the color of a feature wall, and the compromise would be a stripe of each color, which wouldn't work at all.
And driving the final nail? Well, I'm sure I would slam my thumb with the hammer instead and pass out. End of THAT fun adventure.
So it HAS to be helping to design the floorplan, or at least a little input here and there—my forté. When do I start?
Thanks Coop, you never disappoint. I hope everyone gets a much needed LOL.
Glad to see you are OK, Coop!
All right you're hired Coop!
We have been worried about you Coop. I hope everything is well on your end.
Excellent thinking as usual Coop.
I just can't waiat to find out where it will be! I am so excited! We'll be good, I promise.
Hmmmm…….. I like fireplaces……big windows…….a huge kitchen………a master bath masterpiece…….a wrap around porch………..
A very Good idea in closing the clue 14 Blog postings. It had gone WAY OUT OF CONTROL! I am soooooo looking forward to the Reveal and just hope it will still be tonite. PLEASE!
I'm with you, tonight would be FABULOUS!
Thank you Mary…we love you!
FYI guys- don't you think that maybe the reason that the last blog was closed to comments is because of all of the fighting. Several people are bringing the same topics on to this new blog. Please…let it go…EVERYONE…regardless of where it started, regardless of where it stands now…let's just get back to happy blogging.
I don't think it's several people but just the one who doesn't know the meaning of "just let it go". Mary tries to break it up by starting a new blog & they just carry it on over here. What is the point except to be a nasty troll to ruin the fun for everyone.
And once again someone with their blinder on!! I was not the one to bring up anything on this blog…I have just stood up for myself.
It's best not to make any comment if you are ignorant of the situation
Nope- several people brought it up here with good intentions, trying to still defend bloggers or other similar things, but still brought it up.
Or rather- i should say that at the original time of this post the person who was and is being truly negative hadn't even posted on this blog…others had brought it up several times.
You are so right, I got roped into "N"s" negativity; I won't do it anymore; let's just dream about 'our' Dream Home', wherever it shall be !!
so true and everyone seems to betrying to ignore it but this guy just wont give up. GOSH!!!
We just give him up !!!
While the poll has interesting prospects, I would love to be able to help design the floor plan of the home. There is part of me that thinks it wouldn't happen because it may be too close to Blog Cabin…but I definitely think it would be cool for the viewers to have a little say (not that we deserve it) as to what features would be part of their dream home. Thanks again Mary for the poll and new blog topic.
I like the floor plan idea, but I totally missed the "nail the last nail "option. I like that one! How many times may we vote, Mary?
Wishing and hoping and
thinking and praying,
planning and dreaming
I think I passed your state park home area in Arizona over the weekend. I went through Parker, Lake Havasu, and Joshua Tree in Cali over the weekend.
Mary- while I am guessing you are off work for the night and we won't get any response until a new blog topic…can we have a hint as to when we will find out? Is it correct that it will be revealed during the Green Home winner's special…or sooner…or later?
hmm very tough choice and it looks like from the results that the floorplan option is the most popular… Now that would be exciting!!! Of course, I would love to go shopping with Linda too !!! Now not to sound selfish but I am going to be … pick four "bloggers" ….one for each of them ….. Keep Dreaming !!! Thank you Mary !!!
OMG, I just saw your picture! I LOVE it!
haha thanks Debra, that's the real Zoie… My name is Jane
I just LOVE the halo of pink hair! And those rose colored shades? Totally FAB! She is so fashion forward:-)
haha and mind you the glasses are Dora the Explorer…. I always wanted to make greeting cards with funny/sarcastic saying's so I started a little business on the side called ZoieGifts and this is the Diva pic. Thank you !!!
I love it — four different bloggers for the four different options! Mary, Zoie1361 has come up with a marvelous idea and I think it's a winner!
Thanks C&E now we just have to see if Mary and HGTV will buy into it
Oh I just saw the part about the four bloggers (OK, I am easily distracted by cute dogs in rose colored glasses LOL). What a GREAT idea! Oh, and I want a white helmet. The head guy (Jack) always gets to wear the white helmet. But I will add a few touches to it. Maybe a pink rhinestone crown…?
LOL, that sounds perfect and for me I'll take a pink helmet with a diamond tiara. Surely that is not asking too much..haha !!!
Every girl needs at least a tiara or two LOL! Of this I know! We will find just the right one that fits over your helmet, perfectly:-)
We'll just get a construction welder to weld it to the hard hat! ^_^
Oh no, never welded! A few pieces of strategically placed soft foam inside the crown will work to keep in on the helmet. Because you never know where you may need to wear it next. A lady may need to remove said crown and place it directly on her head for the next event, at the HGTV dinner party maybe…?
Yes Ma'm! Sorry! My bad! ^_^
LOL too funny Debra and I totally agree !!!
I can picture it now! A construction helmet with a tiara! Funny!
Ed, we are talking here about serious fashion accessories. This is a very important safety accessory. The tiara is vital for the complete look. Safety first, fashion-ALWAYS. Ask Linda. She can tell you. A mix of texture with color and practicality… Practically every girl in the south owns a tiara LOL!!
As I said before, yes Ma'm. Sorry! I keep forgetting about high fashion! LOL
Ed you're getting beat up but I have to say I agree with Debra….fashion is a must !!!
Yes Ma'am. That is evident from looking at your dogs picture, Jane! LOL
I have voted for every option. I thin I will continue with the hammering of the last nail. As Debra pointed out it will probably cover everything but the floor plans.
Hi boomer, sounds great… I am still selfishly hoping they pick 4 bloggers (one for each option) haha you never know
I just looked at pic of Zoie. Oh, the girl is a class act !!!!!!!! Awesome LOL
We should introduce Zoie to my little Jake. He is a pound puppy, too:-)
ahhh maybe a wedding in their future another tiara or crown perhaps!!!
Well, he is a little prince so Zoie would become a princess by marriage:-)
She's a perfect fit and she has been practicing for that role since the day I was lucky enough to bring her home
Thanks MeKazSimi, she's a character
Your profile speaks volumes of they type of person you are. What a wonderful, selfless comment.
Thank you so much and that means a lot to me coming from you !!!
Mary, my thoughts about the latest poll is that I think LInda is doing a WONDERFUL JOB decorating so I did not pick that choice. (Even though I love decorating) And I THINK you already picked the location for 2011, unless that is why the LONG DELAY, so I did not pick that choice. So even though I would love a free vacation to the construction site, I don't think that was what you meant. So, I picked to be able to help pick the floor plan of the DH, which would be fun. Thanks, for asking us our opinions. Your very SWEET! SLOW, at times though. Ha Ha! OK, Bring on the Reveal!
I know….and some of the clues were very confusing….not that I expect full disclosure but it would be nice to feel like I had a good guess and I never felt as though I did!!
!L.Michele: I cannot find the link to the latest poll. I know you had trouble at first and someone helped you out. I could not find that box at the top. Anything you can do to help me out I would appreciate so much
Katydid, Is 1LMichele talking about the poll on the top of this page? If not it may be on the Dream Home main page.
You are correct Boomer, because the top page poll was not up for me yesterday, but is today.
Katydid, I originally thought the poll must be the one on the main page and that is why I posted these comments on them. But now when I came back here today to reply to you, I did get this other poll at the top of my page. Yesterday it was not here for me. You have probably already discovered it by now, but if not, then go off the blog and then come back to see if it is here. Good Luck!
Michele and Boomer: Yep, it was up for me today. Thanks for your help. I picked the floor plans too like so many of you. I would make sure there would be a bedroom and full bath on the main floor.
I agree…..I might be new but I agree….let's keep things on a positive level!!
I was looking back through old Green Home topics and it looked like they started getting location clues at the end of June…unless timelines on everything have changed, we should be finding out our location soon as I don't think we would still be guessing when they get their clues. (I say "we" and "they," but plenty of us are on both…so we are both the "we" and "they.")
Army, can you tell me your definition of the word S O O N ?
LOL- my answer to both you and boomer…long overdue. Reality, my definition of soon above is within the next two weeks- I am guess during the Green Home t.v. special if not before.
Remember…Mary used the word "soon" in April, I think it was April. It was sooo long ago, I forgot.
see my answer to Sandy
I'll look it up.
I'm new on here also and I see what newby is talking about. There are a lot of Pots on here calling the Kettle black. EVERYONE need to back off or there will never be any resolution. I don't blame newby at all for sticking up for themselves.
I new there was at least one other sane person around ! Thanks for pointing this out. Yes, I will stand up for myself1!
newby why are you talking to yourself?? you create another person "new 1 too" to defend yourself, then you forget to reply in your newby blog space get a grip-newby-new 1 too
Uhhhh….no this was not me. This is obviously one of you veterans trying to make me look bad! Grow up people! Seriously!!
That really was funny! ^_^
Marlene you made me lol !!
Very good Marlene!!! I gave you a thumbs up on that one. LOL LOL LOL LOL
Hummmm, are you really Newby? Haven't seen you here before.
This is strange, I was the first one to reply to Newby's twin, which you can see by how many hours ago I posted, but it ended up posting after many others and hours later. I thought maybe the Admin. deleted it off, but I guess they just rearranged it. Strange! But I guess I was correct in Newby's deception. So Sad!
I accidentally posted to the main thread instead of replying to you. Here is my original reply.
Welcome new 1 too. Hope you have fun on this blog. Figuring out the clues is next to impossible! I still haven't committed to a location but have had lots of fun reading everybody's ideas. Many here are very witty and it is an incredible place to learn all what this country has to offer. I think I have vacation plans for the next 15 years!
Boomer I think you have been fooled again. That's Newby with an alias!
I was just trying to give new 1 the benefit of the doubt. : )
I'm new too, and all I can say is, get over it and get back to the topic, which is the Dream Home.
hi there newby
That's twice Marlene! lol lol
You are very wise. It is all about the dream. Even if all of the clue can point to Vermont, I still say Virginia or Tennessee. That's my dream! (Plus most of the clues can fit Virginia and Tennessee too.)
I see Newby got you again boomer!
Notice that this poll differs from the one on the main page as it took away location and instead has hammer in the final nail…hmmm…does that mean that MAYBE these might be possibilities…uhoh getting hopes up…nah- still stuck in reality that a poll is probably just a poll, but they would be cool options to do!
Hi love, dont write back stay focused on the puterr, just wanted to say hi.
I say they should have a blogger party at the site!
Yeee Haaa!!!! The first thing I do is answer emails, and lo and behold, it happens everytime. The blog suddenly gets a little funky, like it's thinking and within minutes something wonderful and new happens everytime. A moment ago, I felt like I was nibbling on the last of the peanuts on a flight, swirling the package for any salty-sugary find, and then took a survey…just waiting, and so incredibly excited.
The same thing happened to me. I was trying to type a post & eveything went all funky. I felt like I was in one of the scenes in Lost when the time changes again, hahaha.
LOL….I am just as confused on this site as I am when I watch Lost.
Haha…my dad said that show would drive a genious insane. Maybe that's what happened to me because I loved it so much I started buying the season dvd collections the week after the series ended. Hey, idea…dream home next year is on a deserted island & underground like a hatch and guest quarters can be like the Others huts and recreation center in Black Rock but PLEASE, no black smoke, polar bears, or wild boars or stupid button to push every 108 minutes.
I have got to get back into the show and watch it on DVD. I loved the first 2 seasons, then I missed a few and felt I could never catch up.
If you rather save $ you can catch up on them at YouTube and ABC.com although it's a pain in the rear because each episode is divided into 5 different parts & some have less than desirable video quality. I cried so much when it ended I had to have dvds so I oculd pop my Lost friends in the box whenever I get to missing them. Plus, having the dvds you can go back & watch over again & pick up on things you totally overlooked the first time around.
I think I would want the option to watch it over again just for the reason you mentioned. I remember watching reruns of the first 2 seasons and thinking \”I missed that the first time.\”
I love it when that happens, we never know where we are going to wind up in this time machine. Right now I woiuld like to set the time for "any moment day of the great reveal."
I think we can all second that Janzee.
Ditto dear, and by the way I am looking at your most adorable picture. I want to make it larger to see that beautiful you. Gorgeous!!!!
It looks like you are near some mountains and there is a horse behind you.
That would work for me! The problem for me though is that the site slowed down to a crawl. I would type letters and they would show up ten letters later. I kept wanting to retype the words. I don't want that kind of time machine. The reveal would be next year! ^_^
That almost sounds like shades of ground hog day. I am glad your time machine will keep you in the immediate future. How bout tomorrow? Eddie, I just figured out that I have the ability to rate other's comments, I thought that was only for the selected few. I feel that it is an honor, and so I am going through all the posts with my gold stars and with a click of a thumb I am seeing a plus sign.
Who said you weren't trainable? LOL Good for you! I try to pass on the green thumb of happiness. Besides I heard authors shold never miss the opportunity to try something new. They never know what inspiration the activity mights provide or when they can reference the activity in future works. Is that true?
Well professor Berkley, as you are the educational coordinator for this fast train, leading to the current DH announcement and the green thumbs coordinator, and time machine engineer, I will also have to bestow the emeritus honor of trainable or past trainable on you. I shall hold my current status in abeyance until the past catches up with the future, and I have time to document the current or past occurance if it in fact occurs. We all hope that it does not later, but sooner.
Ah Ah whatever you say! ^_^
A woman must have the most current word you know. That's how we woman are.
I'm learning! ^_^
I love that little signature smile. Over the years through friendships marraige, brothers, work, I have oftened wondered about the men are from Mars woman are from Venus phenomenon, and of course who gets the last word. He who talkest fastest, doesn't let the other in edgeways. Does the id exist, or have we manufactured it, to sell books, send the guys off on guy hunting trips, ladies day out? What I've come to, is that the little time away on our own islands is just for giggles. Guy/girl disagreements are best solved with your "smile and nod" approach, and best of all, when we come home there is so much more to talk about especially with this HGTV thing-it is better than any of the latest girl movies. As for the hunting and fishing trips I don't think much can top that, you could probably have the last word on that one.
Actually Janzee, my wife is my best friend! I would love to have her go fishing with me, but alas that is not her thing. Hunting I have pretty much given up – too hard on the old knees. I have gone fishing with mixed crews an all male crews. There is definitely a different dynamics there! The all male trips are a little more ribald and serious. The mixed trips are a little more relaxed. Although I see differences in the ssexes, I think there are more similarities than differences. It is definitely a complimentary relationship! I thing differences are emphasized for marketing purposes! There are also degrees of difference within each ssex. The cave man personality on down. And the wall flower on up! just my opinion! ^_^
you are the same person that won the poncho or turquiose wrap, right?? Where are you from and how are you doint?? I am Ann from Arkansas
Hi Ann, it is so good to see you. We have had many wonderful conversations over the months. I have missed talking with you and glad you are on the site. I am Jan, and I living in LA temporarily. Yes, I won Monica's wrap, which is now retired because of the heat, and is in a plastic zip lock in my closet where I can see it and give it a pat. Oh! but the memories of that wrap, are ones that I will never forget. I made wonderful friends on the blog, someone referred to us as a sisterhood- I am going to read the thread to find her name, and everyone shared in the joy of that blue bird of happiness precious gift. I won it for all of us. That small moment in time, and the graciousness of Mary, Gail. Webman Parizman, and Monica that beautiful character gave me my groove back. I probably didn't need to win the wrap for that to happen, but there was something to celebrate about. I finding lots of ways to celebrate every day! Love to You!
Hi there Janzee. So sorry that I wasn't able to reply to your previous reply about the neighbors, so I am replying here. I went to reply and the blog was closed. Just my luck huh??? LOL!!! Anyways, Hi there. I hope you all are great and I hope your trip was awesome. Also, Yes we are good friends or neighbors that have to check in with each other. I didn't want you to think I have ignored you or something like that, because I wouldn't do that to you or anyone. Well, TTYS!!! Happy Dreaming to you!!!
I love you #1, you can come and go whenever you please. Good friends and good neighbors like each other in all weather. You come for tea and finger sandwhiches any time.
So good to hear that Janzee. You are a wonderful friend, too, and you can come for tea and finger sandwiches anytime too. Love you too. Take care. F/F
Tanks my friend. F/F which I think means friends forever.
You are welcome and Yes that is what that means.
Newby… not sure if you are New 1 Too also but…I'm fairly new too and respectfully will you please let it go…We understand that you are upset and you have stated your concerns. Now it's time to get back to what this blog is really meant for and that is too have fun !!! Thank you….
How about "respectfully" directing your plea to the many many others on here that are carrying on??
Zoie (love that name) Please, tell me, have you been on THE BLOG CABIN or
THE GREEN HOME? You have a way with words, I have been on here for six
months and only have 70 posts according to ID. You already have 82 so I
congratulate you for getting your number up so quickly. We can sure use you.
It seems that Mary has begun to expect 4000 posts to her threads!! LOL
Hi SandyLA, thank you and yes I have mainly been on the Green Home blog. By the time I realized that this blog was here, you guys were so far into all the clues and research etc., so I kind of sat back and occasionally visited and read through some of the blogs. Not that I couldn't have commented on the location but I did not have time to go back through the clues first. Now that the location is HOPEFULLY coming soon, I can chime in more. Perhaps my number is higher because I talk too much ….haha .
Just let it go…let it all go–old comments, new comments…find a happy tangent to talk about.
Could someone tell me WHERE is this poll? I've renewed and refreshed several times. Thanks.
At the top of the page "Would you like to"………vote on one.
Right below the text that reads,
"Just an FYI that comments on the Clue 14 post have been closed. I’m so sorry for the delay in updating you.
While we wait for the location announcement, will you participate in a poll? I’d love to know your thoughts."
there should be a grey box with the poll.
The box mentions PollDaddy.com. You may be able to get it from that site.
Thanks for the help. Had to use a different browser for some reason. I see it now.
Funny…I forgot to look at the results…it looks like most people are in for wanting to have input on the floor plan.
Well, I guess I am out of here until maybe a peek later, for it does not look like we are getting the reveal today. SO SAD AGAIN!
Did you get your taxes done?
OH my, that is such a "So Sad" subject too! NO, Boomer, I have not got my taxes done yet. I have still been bad in participating in this 2011 DH clue game and blog, so I have not been spending much time on our taxes. The task is much greater than most with having to calculate a whole years worth of expenses since , Unfortunately, I do not keep up with it monthly due to many circumstances. But, thanks for your concern.
Are you a procrastinator? Me too.
YEP! I just get too busy with doing other things. He He!

I am sure you meant to say fun things Michele! ^_^
Mary, I just want you to know that even though I am a westie, if you want to post the location at 5:00 a.m. EDST I am totally OK with that. Really. The east coast bloggies deserve to know. Just in case you were thinking of waiting, you don't have to… Promise.
I am a westie and I agree with Debra!!!
Pitter patter, just like a school girl waiting for her first date to call. I thought that feeling had gone out the window along time ago, but I am totally feeling it now. I wonder how many of us are sitting with that grin? Ya know that grin, watching the computer for someone to just reach out and touch us with the news. We will all be glued to the computer when….The newness of the experience that HGTV, and this site offers is always on the cutting edge of surprise. At this very moment, I am looking out the window at one generous pine tree, said a few little prayers. I feel blessed happy to be on this blog and to have such a wonderful group of friends. Practicing my breathe
I'm kind of glad the option for location is gone…not just in the fact that it is already chosen for this year. I think if I picked my dream location and didn't win then I would be more disappointed…especially since they probably wouldn't repeat a location (despite the multiple Florida homes). Right now, the dream homes are where they are…meaning no say in the location…so, since the location is not that important to me, it is easy to move on to dreaming of the next spectacular Dream Home.
If I had a hammer, I would hammer in the mooahrning, I would hammer in the evening….all over this lannnd. I would hammer our freedom, I would hammer out the love between my brothers and my sisters alll over this lannnd. I think that is a great idea HGTV gang to put the last nail in the house. I like that idea.
You all are not going to believe this, but I had takeout Chinese food for dinner, and my fortune cookie fortune said "Any doubts you may have had will disappear early this month"! Also, one of my lucky numbers was 16! So I interpret this to mean we will get the location reveal tomorrow, the 16th, early in the morning! I may be grasping at straws, but this new post from Mary definitely gives me hope! Please don't turn the blog around, Mary — if you mean you will make us go over all of the location clues yet again, I don't think any of us could take it!
We had Chinese too & my fortune cookie just said "Your choices at them oment will be good ones. Trust yourself." Hmmm, I've always trusted myself if nobody else, well, except God. I am going to play the lottery on my #s tomorrow.
What were the "lucky numbers" they have on the back? Maybe if we add, subtract, multiply & then divide them, we can come up with 6/16/10, the REVEAL date!
LOL, maybe so. I stink at math so I'm not going to even try to work out a combo that would turn my #s into something else.
You are starting to sound like Mary! LOL
Hey, Mary, did you hear that?!? You are a laugh riot, Boomer!!
Very cool, on the fortune cookie C&E. It is said that fortune cookies offered in blue rice bowls know many things. You are quite an important icon on this blog, and I know I have suggested this before, but thought if you register with Intense Debate you will see all this huge plus signs. Just to let you know your words have a tremendous impact on us with or without an association with ID.
Sorry, but I have to say I'd love it if it were more west than east unless the coast of NC or FL but no ski resorts in FL so that's out altogether. Would love for her to take us right back to San Pedro Overlook or anywhere else as beautiful in NM.
Plus if turned back around which mean she'd be going west, there's always chance of Hawaii.
And maybe it will be the 16th state on the 16th day of June! Bet you can't guess what the 16th state is without looking! (Just think of what boomer has been dreaming about!)
That's one fortune that would make a lot of bloggers happy!
Well Mary, most of us have behaved so well, followed your clues and directions. Thank you so much for reading our comments, putting excitement in the clues, making us think and do some wonderful American State History research. I know I have learned some interesting info.
So very excited for the "BIG REVEAL"!!
Much love and GOD Bless all fellow bloggers.
Renee (from NY)
Hugs to you Renee (from NY).
I'm an Aries, so I want to visit the construction site and design the floor plan and then deal with my patience and patience and patience—–until finally the final nail is pounded into place! As for the room design I can't imagine a multitude of "personal touches" being placed into one room. Although, it would probably end up being quite a conversation piece.
Dear Me, I didn't take the poll that way. I thought that "THOSE' people wanted to get a feeling
of what each of us would be interested in doing. Ane then if they decided to choose the
one with the most votes, we would have a contest to see which one of us would get the
chance to do it! But we know that this was a thread to get us going again. I missed the
whole play. I have spent hours today on #14 on the bottom of my screen saved HGTV
and posted and posted to different people. Then I turned my computer off because it was
acting funny. I come back on about three hours later (after the laundry) and guess what
a new thread. Coop again did not threaten to go away and Mary came to the Blogs aide.
Hi, Sandy, I was just having fun giving my hypothetical take on it. I logged in this morning (after three days away) and read and blogged–left–came back and wa la—-new thread—-for a moment I thought it was the reveal. But this is just as exciting, because I think we are close to the grand moment from Mary. Tomorrow—I hope I hope I hope. LOL
I think today is a great day to bring back my "QUESTION OF THE DAY"…
If you were chosen to help Linda deccorate the children's room, what theme would you decorate with?
My first instinct would be to have Disney be a sponsor and go with "Cars" as the second one is coming out next summer. I will have to get back to you with a more creative answer.
Sidenote- Monster's Inc. 2 is coming out Novemer 16, 2012…that's the one we are excitedly awaiting.
Funny OAF! I guess you are still the DisneyFamily at heart! Even if not in name!
As my tag said when I switched names, "While I am no longer adisneyfamily, we will always be a DISNEY family!"
You can't go wrong with Disney!
I can't believe they waited that long between the first one & this one. Hope the 2nd one is as good as the 1st.
Monster's Inc was my older daughter's first movie in the theater when she was almost 2. She still LOVES that movie. In a weird way, it is kind of good that they waited because it wasn't one of those movies where the 2nd comes out right away and everyone brushes it off since everything seems to have a sequel theses days. Now, it is almost like something totally new and fresh…it will interest a whole new set of kids (including my youngest), but also have the interest of those who remember it from before.
And the 3rd sequel to Toy Story. I've been waiting for that one since I read about it 3 years ago.
trust me…my daughter is practically counting down the minutes.
Well, if it's near the coast, there will be another Pirates of the Caribean out again by the time of giveaway. It could be done in pirate theme. If it's in the northwoods area, wildlife-northwoods adventure. They already did the Toy Story theme in 2010 Dream Home. I loved that one. If we knew Cami was winning, the kid's room could be Island Adventure but then she might commandeer the room from the kids & take it for herself, hehe.
You sure know how to get a an island lovin girl excited.
The theater room could be decked out with Disney and the bedrooms could be free to anything they wish. I will have check out the upcoming Disney movies. As for the girls rooms I like the colors Army Family suggested. Turquoise and lime green. I wonder if a warm color could be added to those two colors?? The only color I can think of would be lavender, and that was done a lot last year. There must be girly color accent that could go with those two colors, besides lavender.
Or maybe just a soft pink/peach color, with lt ice blue, lavender and sage green accents. I was going for the antique look with those suggestions. So either lt sage green walls or light peach/pink walls, or creamy yellow/gold walls, with antique colored accents, and furniture.
For the master bedroom. Lindt truffle chocolates all the way. Major colors Cream/Gold colored walls with Reddish and gold accents throughout the room. Dark brown antique furniture, four poster bed with lush canopy drapes. I like the castle bedroom look here but don't want jewel tones, that would be too busy for my eyes. Just the reds, creams and golds and maybe a little silver.
There are definitely some accent colors that would work to make it girly…I was thinking gender nuetral, but bright pink and purple could go with it. My daughter has a flannel sheet that is lavender with circles of all of those bright colors we named…so, they can work well together.
I am all the way with Lindt truffle chocolates. I could live on those things. I like the red & gold colors in bedroom myself & castle theme sounds great too since I have some castle & other fairytale theme collections. I also like brick red in the kitchen at least on one main wall. If there are 4 bedrooms, there could be a boy & a girl room–pirates or rock & roll theme in the boys and castle/fairytale in the girls if it wasn't used in the master but in a way it could go for child of any age because a teenager isn't going to want a room that looks too kiddie.
I really like the Disney themed media room. You hit the nail right on the head with that one. I do have a suggestion on the living room furniture for pet lovers who have fur kids with alot of hair–more leather or microfiber type material & less cloth. Trust me, even with the Bissel Pet Vacumn, which we have, it doesn't get it all although it does do a good job. And if your pets are part of the family, no matter mansion or shack, you want them to be a part of your life & not shutup off in another part of the house all of the time especially if they have always been indoor pets.
That leads to the pet room that I would suggest adding onto the floor plan for times when they need to be in their own space. Have built in caves for them. My animals–dogs & cats–love having a dark "den" to go into sometimes to sleep and they love windows to look out especially windows with screens for a nice breeze in spring/summer months. Ceramic floor, built up bed, & kitty condo type thing and ceiling fan which takes less energy than constant a/c or even for winter months for pets with thick hair. Put some potted trees & other plants in there too to make it feel like their own personal outdoors when inside. A pet door for them to go outside into enclosed pet area outside big enough for dogs to race & wrestle around & to have their pool in the summer months. Some trees in there too for shade & a fake fire hydrant for dog to pee on–JK on the fire hydrant. Some grassy area, some concrete, & some bare dirt area. I notice my dogs & cats love to rotate and roll around on all 3 surfaces. Yes, my pets are spoiled brats. You got me on a roll there Cami. Somebody stop me.
All of our pets are kennel trained. They love going in their kennels at night. If I don't open up their door early enough in the evening, they keep pestering me until I do. They actually bounce up and down & start running in circles, when I finally get up to cage them for the night! ^_^
Both our dogs love going outside to hang for awhile but they want to be with their humans most of the time to make sure we don't eat anything without sharing with them. Elvis is so protective especially of me, I can't fart without him there to smell it to make sure I'm ok, lol.
I don't think I will take a chance on commenting here. LOL
Yes mam you betcha, we have been missing the question of the day, and all the responses and the unusual and fantastic questions they were.
I will try to keep them coming as the blog can definitely use some distractions.
I can't wait, just like the old days.
An abstract preteen or teen room with colors like turquoise and lime green that could be used for boy or girl.
agree, gender neutral….good colors!
I'm for a teen/tween room, one for a boy & one for a girl !! Plus a nice guest room. And don't forget the pool !!!
I just said the same thing thing…room for both girl & boy and make it tween/teen because older kids don't want a baby room as they call it. Believe me. I have an 11-yr-old. He wants to keep all of his Toy story and Lilo & Stitch stuff but doesn't want them in his room for his friends to tease him over.
My vote is for Fairies. They are darling, cheery, sparkle, and have special powers. Plus, my granddaughter would positively LOVE them!
fairies would definitely work for us
It might work for my girls, but one of my teenage sons loves skeletons that glow in the dark, and bats with red eyes and evil looking ravens in his room. It's like halloween all year in his room!
One of the many reasons I am glad I had girls. My brothers terrified me as a child!
LOL My wife is just the opposite. She wishes we had all boys. The girls are the ones that give us the most trouble. And with boys she says what you see is what you get.
Ed, I agree Girls are more of a challenge when they are in their teens, but they will always be a close daughter for you don't lose them like you do sons, who after they get married you lose that closeness due to they usually end up doing more things with their wives family because of her closeness to her family. That is what we have experienced anyways.
i'm glad my husband would rather retire from the military in NC than MA because for me it's colder there in more than one way yet my family treat my husband just like the rest of the family. they're not always pointing out his differences like they're handicaps. my southern accent is not a handicap. I am darn proud of my accent & where I come from & the next time they start about it, I'm going to fill them in on some of my family history beginning IN MA with my grt etc grandfather being first assistant to John Smith & that my ancestors helped paved the way for their great state.
Ttsoussa1, Go For IT! But do so with Love.
I always try my best to be a better person than them to keep peace because I don't want any rifts in the family but Lord knows it is HARD sometimes. His now ex-sil was the worst one for it. Thank God she's an ex now & nobody else in the family likes her either, I mean nothing about her. At least it's just my accent they don't like, lol.
I don't know if your husbands family is like mine was in MA. But they were always teasing each other, sometimes mercilously. My wife who is from Alabama/Florida was quite offended when she met my aunts & uncles. I then explained the family dynamics to her. She overcame her polite Southern up bringing and started giving as well as she got. Then she was part of the family. I don't know if you have the same situation, but you might try doing the same thing! ^_^
I thought that might be the case but I walked in on them talking about me being stupid southern hick & they hoped our son didn't grow up to have my ignorant southern accent. I just walked back out the door. I figured it was better to leave it alone at that moment. His friends are all very nice to me & some of his other relatives. It' just the immediate family other than his mom who was a sweetheart & she passed away in December.
Sorry to hear that! That is not the case with my family! That doesn't sound like they are very gracious to me! I hope your husband stood up for you in no uncertain terms!
Not really because he swore he never heard them say anything except the ex-sil and he didn't say anything to her either. That's why I don't go out of my way to go with him to visit them. The only one I miss is his mom & she's passed away.
Since my oldest son's wife is from the Cech Republic we don't have that problem! ^_^
Well that is a blessing ED. Our two daughter-in-laws are wonderful and we do all get together as a whole family for each of the adult birthdays where I will make dinner, giving the birthday person their choice of the whole meal for me to cook. But it is during those in-between times that we do not get a phone call (unless they have a reason to) to just see how we are doing. But our daughter calls EVERYDAY, so she can know how we are doing and keep us updated with what and how she is doing. We call her our \”Sunshine Girl\”! She is our youngest and is going to turn \”30\” this year.
Fairies are perfect for almost any age. IMHO
They could cover a broad range of colors, too. You could go with a neutral base color of cream and have fairies of all different color schemes flying/placed around the room.
I love good fairies for everyone.
It appears that some infantile person is signing on under different names an giving you thumbs down Cami. I have given you a thumbs up, but i only have one thumb. Fellow thumbers we need help here!!!!
I did all that I could, too. Maybe a separate post is required?
I say don't worry about the thumbs. We all know who deserves them in our hearts and we should strive to live humble anyways.
Fairies are cool too & although I don't have a daughter, all my castles & a few other fairy-tale theme collectibles would fit perfectly in the room for guests.
I 'm kinda leaning toward an Alice in Wonderland theme!
While my older daughter would love that, HGTV tries to stay ahead or on top of the trends and I don't know if that one will be as trendy next year as the movie will be old then.
Or princess in winter wonderland.
I would open the room up to a bay area, where the kids could use a unique work area for homework, crafts or collecting things. I like the idea of softer or muted colors that thematically carry through the house, but consult the winners to bring in a choice of comforters, pillow cases etc. The choices would be literally wheeled in so the kids no matter what age could pick and choose. I would also love to see a type of book case unit, for collectibles and fine books. Hard wood natural floors are always best, but once again a throw rug that the family chooses would be great. If Vermont is the state, I think a soft cushy rug with a cushy no flame retardant couch for the kids would be wonderful too.
That would be cool to have some elements picked by the winner…otherwise- show two sample rooms ahead of time and then put in the one that fits the winner's needs…okay, now I am just in dream land.
All ideas come from the inspiration of genius. Dreamland, and Disneyland is where it begins.
Why not a bear skin rug? I think that's a great idea having the kids room open to a play/work room!
Lions, Tigers and Bears oh my. What a great organic comment Ed. I have alot of friends who are hunters, and I think it is so important for kids to be connected to the outdoors. I love the idea of an art/play room where you bring the wilderness to children. Mmmm maybe collection tanks, a microspcope, telescope. Vermont would have every opportunity for a lookout into nature, space, and what can be seen through the eyes of science.
I can picture that room. All of the fun things I enjoyed growing up!
When I was a kid I actually had a friend by the name of Stevie, whose father was a ham operator and whose mom let all of the kids draw with crayons on their own wall. They had a "pick" cake in the frig, for everyone to grab a hank off of. He had that kind of a room with unusual artifacts, and you could spend all day studying his fossils and wierd pics of animals. We would go on little expeditions with him down to the creek to unturn rocks, and found pieces of things to explore under his microscope. Then we climbed his tree house, where Stevie Toffel told us some of the best scifi stories I have ever heard.
Ah good old SciFi! That's pretty much the totality of my reading material lately. A couple of novels a week worth! When I was in the cub scouts the den faher was a ham operator too! We used to talk to people in Australia from his set!
Are you sure you are not my Stevie?
Nope unless your Stevie lived in MA and his name was Edmond! LOl
No my Stevie lived in Yonkers NY next to a creek, and a tree house.
Great ideas Janzee!
Ahh your comment warms the cockles of my heart. I am a person whose kids had to pick out my clothing because I have often been mismatched. This site, has intrigued me to really research my love for art and design and generated a renewed interest. I know we all share this research experience. My mismatched of yesteryear, is today's fascination for combining ecclectic, patterns, combinations, and its also simplicity of form, architecture, workability and eco friendly.
We have all been created special and with different talents. Keep on using yours for the Glory of your Creator.
Before I turned on my computer, I was in the midst of a prayer, and asked creator to put me on a path to help, "what can I do to help you dear Creator, I thank you and love you", is what I said. Then I read your beautiful message and got the chills,I am still feeling and receiving those words. You are doing good things in your community 1LMichele, for the children and your family.
Thank you Creator! Janzee, now you have me \”Chillin\”! LOL! He is sooooo good, and has such perfect timing with His answers. I am ALWAYS Amazed!
I keep going back to your post to get the chills. For a long time I was forgetting about him, but he never left he was standing behind me and in front of me all the while.
Can we have a girl room and a boy room?? It would sure help to know where it's going to be. If it will be at a ski location, then I would have to say a snowboarding/sports room for the boys. If Disney is a sponsor, which I hope they are, then how could those two things work together? Lets see..The last Cars movie was set in the desert.. If perhaps this cars movie has some woods/evergreen tree scenes, I have always wanted to decorate my boys room into a camping scene with evergreen trees and a tent with maybe a bear and a lake/fishing mural. Is there any info. on the cars movie? Anyway, that would go well with what the location is likely to be (just guessing)
I had that thought about skiing anbd then thought not to say it since we didn't know the location, but…realistically, Mary gave snow as a clue…so, a preteen/teen room with a winter sports theme would be good…or just snow in general. My daughter has combined her love for a Christmastime birthday and her love of Paris for her current room which is Paris in the winter…eifel towers and snowflakes.
You could do a "Heidi" room for a girl in a ski chalet:-)
Where will you put your Tara Room Debra? ^_^
I am sort of liking Cami's Princess in Wonderland room for my crown room:-)
Yes your highness. And what kind of throne will you have?
Gosh I love that idea/
For a girl snow theme, I like ice blue and lavender/blue, lt pink and white and silver. A funky wall wavy hill painting around the whole room, with a blue sky. This is fun to dream up. Your daughters room sounds beautiful.
Real Ice skates, snow board, mittens, ear muffs, scarf, hats. Maybe an ice/snow castle (on wall) depending on the age I guess. White covered evergreen trees (on wall) Big stuffed bears and penquins would be cute. Off white furniture, maybe a four poster bed again with sparkly sheers as canopy/drape.
That is soo gorgeous Cami. I am loving this. I have shabby sheek stuff in my house that I got at a yard sale and then antiqued it. Family that come visit all want first dibbs on my furniture, as I give it away every few years.
Or for those who love winter & animals, wolves or sled dogs can be good theme for either girl or boy if they couldn't do but one room and either feminine or masculine stuff added to it later. for boys, snowboard stuff added or for a girl, snow princess stuff could still be added. Start neutral & build from there.
Great thoughts…I think that there are so many great nuetral stuff and that they should do a somewhat nuetral theme so that it can be adapted to the family who wins.
What is going on with your comments. I think you should write a note to the website, and let them know.
There is a person who has logged on under 3 or 4 different names & is giving Cami thumbs down. I have been giving her thumbs up but I only have one thumb to counteract the perp. Everybody needs to give her thumbs up to counteract the negativity!
Okay darlilng. You are correct. Do I go to the pics of the thumbs and simply click on the thumbs up. What I am seeing from my end is the negative sign, on Cami's posts. I think there is a terrible mistake here. I am going to try to clicking on your thumbs now to see if it works.
Holy Cow, I did it. and you know when I clicked on your thumb, the number went from one to two. I am going to call on my good fairies and start to comment on everyone.
that's the spirit!
I am moving back and forth to the most difficult post I have ever read from you, and then clicking on your humorous responses. I suddenly realize that you are a very strong man, like a warrior who has earned many feathers. In the midst of all challenges you manage to stay present, and work through each strata with humor. You deserve that racoon hat Ed.
I am humbled! Thank you!
You deserve all good every moment of every day!!
I've been doing it & even refreshing so I can do it again. This makes no sense that this troll can't just let this go. I wish the administrator could just block them from getting on.
Hopefully something can be done. Glad to see you assisting. Since I am signed into Intense debate I can only thumb someone once! That doesn't sound quite right – does it?
No, it doesn't.
Hi Ed! Just wanted to let you know I am doing my part to get Cami's thumbs back up again too, and also to congratulate you, Boomer, and Lynn for getting enough posts to pass pagage and get them off of the top ten list! You intensedebate bloggers are a fantastic bunch, and when I have a little more time I will make the attempt to join you!
I was reading on of Coop's postst earlier and I think he contacted the admin about Ppage and corrected the discrepancy. You can have my place. I am now taking B12 and wear a brace when I sleep to prevent Carpal Tunnel!
I like that camping scene idea & snowboarding for boys.
I wanted to tell you that I love the idea of a camping theme, and in my adult life visited a friend when I was stresed that built a tent for me in her living room. We sat there gossiped, read poetry and stuffed our faces with marshmellows. I think a child's room would be fantastic with a wall mural three D, that could get carrried out somehow into the room. Maybe the colors of the mural melt into the wood floor or some sort of wood column that carries that mural out.
Could do a crayola room for younger kids…that is something that can be gender nuetral. If by chance the home ends up in Pennsylvania that would be a great idea as there is the crayola factory…which now that I am on Pennsylvania- they also have the Hershey Chocolate Factory there; so, that could be a room too…not that I thought it was in Pennsylvania before a minute ago,but once I said Crayola I was on a Pennsylvania spree…which now that I am rambling, if it is Vermont they can do an ice cream treat themed room.
A chocolate room would work for any bedroom, especially my room.
At Hershey, they turn the different chocolates into different cartoon characters.
I would do toy story. I think. I just love Woody and Buzz.
That would be fun and I know a lot of kids that would like it (inlcuding my 2 girls), but I don't know if HGTV would got for Toy Story two years in a row.
Perhaps, if it is going to be in a four season place, which is likely, there should be a bedroom decorated for each season, including chocolate season. I guess that will be five bedrooms.
All year round is chocolate season…it would look like Wonka Land for me then, hehehe.
Ooh- with a chocolate scent…I am really stuck on Hershey right now, but in their 4D movie at the factory they spray chocolate smell…mmm.
OMG! I'd weigh 1000 lbs because i'd be thinking even more of it 24/7, lol.
Wonka land is definitely a winner in my book!!!!!!!!!
And do we get some of those Oompa Loompas to make more chocolate & sing for us too?
Okay I just figured out what is happening. Somebody is coming in as a guest, and then clicking on your thumbs. I think it is time that this person use his own green thumb to start planting some veggies it is a great hobby.
I can suggest a few places for him to plant the veggies, but I am sure the administrator wouldn't look kindly on my post! Lol
Oh dear Ed, You really don't want to get down into the dirty soil with them do ya? Keep your true-to-yourself head above that and keep it in the "Sunshine" that we have grown to appreciate.
No Ma'am. Yes ma'am! The devil made me say it! ^_^
LOL! Your a GOOD Man, Ed. Are you a cousin to Charlie Brown? He He!
I don't think so! But if it keeps me out of trouble – sure I am! ^_^
Okay, I have another idea for the kid's room from my college days. I had a friend we called Artist Bob, who made all the sets for a theater group I help started at the UA. One afternoon, artist Bob invited us to open his garage, and upon doing so asked me to ever so slightly push a domino, which caused a ball to roll through a tunnel, which caused three wooden stick pins to spin around, and then a wooden train to wind around a track. When asked how he built this sculpture, he replied "physics my dear Watson". So, I think a sculpture like this in the kids room, that would promote a fascination for art, math, physics, engineering, and the list goes on would be very educational. This sculpture could be contained in a small area and the rest of the area used for space.
That would be very cool and would probably intrigue many kids.
Ah thanks Our Army Family, as I kid I loved playing with these thingamagiggybopper thinking things.
Kinetic sculptures are fantastic!
I could just see you inventing one of them. Graduates of Berkley are quite smartistic.
That reminds me of the game, Mousetrap:-)
It did for me too Debra G. and I am sure that Bob thought of that, and added his own spin on it.
I loved the Mousetrap game when I was younger. I even bought one for my grandchild but unfortunately they do not play games like I did when I was a child. I Love games even now! I think they are much more family friendly then TV programs.
Could not agree more! Shoot the TV!
LOL! And to be honest Debra, I really believe the TV is the devil's #1 Tool in keeping families apart and from spending time with our Creator in prayer and in His Word. So SLY he is. I have pretty much given up TV recently for this reason. But I will confess that the sly one has done it again to be with having me spend sooooo much time on the computer now with this clue game blog. Fun and good things are ok if done in moderation, but the problem comes in when they drag you into taking up so much time in our shortened life that they control us and take us away from the important things in life and what we were created for.
Fun, very fun.
I wish I could remember what he called that contraption.
In the woods, maybe a frontier theme, with a flintlock, coon skin hat etc. would work.
funny- we just bought my toddler a coon skin hat at Jamestown.
I had one when I was five. I remember it got real hot in the summer, but I wore it anyway! I don't evver wear hats anymore! ^_^
When you win the DH, we will all chip in to get you that coon skin hat. You must wear that to our blog party, and I will wear my grandmas fox wrap that I gardened with.
I remember my grandmother's fox wrap and mink stole. It was weird having a head on something around her neck. At least it seemed weird to a youngster!
Mine does not have a head. And in today's day and time, I am not wearing mink anything. I still wear my leather shoes, and purses, but thinking about the animal just for show like that is not for me these days.
Well then ED, "Hat's OFF to you" He He!
LOL I hate hats. My little brother always wore them. He is balder than a cue ball now. I still have a full head of hair. Maybe there is a correlation? ^_^
Ha! There very well could be.
I think a clubhouse rather than a playhouse for kids to grow into so they can use as a music or art room as they get older & get rid of the toys.
That sounds soo adventurous for the kid in everyone. I would probably spend more time looking at the collection than my kids.
My son has one of those hats. He doesn't wear it anymore but wants to keep it along with his favorite toys–Thomas trains & Disney–for his kids.
Love this question. College decor like pennants, t-shirt pillows, cups… from colleges everywhere. Or multicultural, earthy/environmental/peaceful decor. (I know, the last one sounds like something from the 70s!)
Ok, for this room there would be two pennants one for the Oregon State University and the other one would be UVA!!!!
I would make it a room where you interact with construction elements and have a hiding place with a secret door in the closet. THere would be things to climb maybe something that swings where you can drop onto your bed…..keep them active and having fun!
For me that would be great in like a family room or multimedia room that has area to play…our family spends a lot of time together as a family.
Just like the old days. Your question of the day, has become the question of the year, you always keep us on our toes.
I really like the colors they used in the Plymouth house for the children's room. I can see both my Granddaughter and Grandson really loving that room. I particularly liked the Dog picture in the room. Since you brought it up I have envisioned a nice red lobster over the fp of the Plymouth house to match the kit counter and the couch. I would see if the son of the son of the winner of the Albuquerque house could do one. I like his style and use of primary colors. If it is in Colorado I might do deer or snowmen or fir trees for the children's room. I guess teddy bears go well with VT . We shall see soon.
Reading the others I am inspired and the theater reply reminded me of a Puppet theater. I would have a puppet theater for children and a log cabin theme would go well in VT or CO. Lot s of Lincoln Logs to build and forts and clubhouses are great.
There are a lot of sports themes and for the Plymouth house I have been designing a lobster in a red sox cap for over the fireplace. I know how tacky. I just love Red Sox and Lobster.
BLOGGERS! Go to page 10! It IS STOWE, VT!! Click this link:
The 15th annual HGTV Dream Home will be located at Spruce Peak in Vermont’s Stowe Mountain Resort, amid emerald-green rolling hills, winding roads and picturesque ski slopes.
I would love to see a vintage style amusement park theme. What child doesn't like heading to an amusement park, midway fair event, or a carnival. My good friend painted a really cute mural of a rollercoaster and merry go round in my son's room. It even had a ticket booth and concession stand on the walls. It is such a fun theme that can grow with kids and be updated as they get older.
This is totally awesome! Progress on the blog! I have been told that Ignorance is bliss… So I choose to ignore negativity, and hopefully find bliss!!!! LOL
Thank you Mary for the new poll, and not turning the blog around on us…. It is truely appreciated, and I promise not to cause trouble, or arguements… I will try my best to stay on topic, or at least with the current topic going on the thread at the time…. So, location? Can you please tell us soon?
It's funny how I have not been on here for quite a while and still people are hurling insults and saying I'm the one that's carrying this on.
I'm beginning to think it's in Colorado ski country. That would fit the "house plan" I have designed for 2011DH. LOL
Respectfully can we all stop making comments about the topic we would all like to stop please. TY
Army Family, I would love a boy bedroom, a girl bedroom, a guest bedroom, (each with their own baths); plus a big country kitchen; a retreat/bedroom for Mom & Dad; a workshop for Dad; a workroom for Mom; energy efficient; garden space; & of course the pool !!
I would have to have an indoor pool in a cold location. I would settle for a smaller indoor exercise pool
Don't forget the palm trees around the pool Cami. Then you can make believe it's Hawaii with snow outside! ^_^
Are you going to have fireplaces in all those rooms too? ^_^
A nice big rock fireplace would look great in country kitchen and more elegant type in the living room or great room and casual in master bedroom.
funny- I thought I replied to this earlier…anyway, sounds great!
I would love to have raised planting beds if it is in the south. If it is in the north, the growing season is much shorter, so I think I would like a small green house.
Since we are still on the blog bus. are we there yet.
If only we knew how fast the bus was moving..
We are there when "Mean Mary" says we are there. Just like when I used to go for rides with my parents! LOL
My would like to see a separate guest suite, either attached or situated much like the SW Casita, with room to accomodate four comfortably.
Another exposed bathroom?!!! ^_^
Exposed bath? I meant a guest house only larger than the one in 2010 DH.
oh,yeah that one was all glass right? Naaaah—-stone, doors, and cement this time. ha
I am soooo excited about the reveal. You know you are just killing us all Mary. I have already started writing out my entries.
The poll is almost impossible to answer. I would like to do all of them but the most, I would like to pick the floor plan and have Linda decorate with the space I set up for her in the town the was carefully chosen.
If you have enough money for postage, you could fill out a truckload of entries in the next six months! LOL
I believe we don't send in anything until January. I could be wrong, I am only going
off last years timetable. I have been asking if I am correct but have not been answered
i am soooo excited I just can't hide it…. Dream Home 2011 …bring it on!
Pedal to the medal, Father Jack! Mother Mary, turn the music up, please!
I just want to put it out in the universe again, I think Pennsylvania is the spot (keystone state, don't tread on me, Quakers, farms, skiing…) Again, this is FUN!
works for me…my family loves Hershey.
If you or someone in your family is/has served in the armed forces, THANK YOU and God Bless!
I was in the Air Force, but my husband IS in the Army…the people I give the biggest kudos to are my two daughters who spend a lot of time without daddy and endure the moving around away from friends extra. I don't mean to sound sappy…it is because I just got done putting a toddler to sleep with a teddybear with daddy's voice saying goodnight to her because daddy's gone…this time only for a few weeks. Anyway, yeah- we are in Maryland right below PA.
Please pass the thank you along to your husband.
Sounds like PA would work great for us both! I Love the Northeast, here's to thinking positive
Thank you for the thanks ;o)
my 18 yr old son leaves for the army in september. im worried but i know he will be off the sreets and out of trouble,, so Heck Yea and God Bless
What career field is he going into in the army? Even though it is hard to have your son leave home…he will definitely have people looking out through him as he goes through basic training and AIT (his school). As for later…not all jobs in the Army put the soldiers in harms way.
well he didnt do well in school so he had to finish in alternitive school. and he took about 3 test for the army and he could only score high anough for infintry or scout. so he signed in on 19th delta scout i think is what he called it. he got a 49,ooo GI Bill scholorship but Im not exactly sure what he is going to do with it. after his training he is sapose to serve 3 years active and the rest on reserve. 8 years total i believe. the biggest thing that upset me was he only got a 500.00 sign up bonus.
I couldn't find this post and responded to you on the main blog.
Who doesn't love Heshey? LOL
Have you been to the factory or Hershey Park? We haven't done Hershey Park as my girls aren't too into big roller coasters. We do plan to go back up and see the zoo at Hershey (as well as the chocolate factory again) this summer when we go on a roadtrip.
my boss is from buffalo and they go to hershy sometimes. she brought me back a great big hershy kiss. yum yum!!
Haven't been there. From the descriptions from friends, I would love to experience it!
I linked just as many clues to PA as VT, same for VA. I guess the same could go for NY and DE but the first 3 are sweeter.
That's the object! Let's have fun! ^_^
I'm cleaning the house & it hits me. Was this a scold from Mother Mary "Don't me turn this blog around" or another clue? Could she be trying to tell us she's turning around & going back to New Mexico? I mean afterall, there still has been no reveal of location, just a poll asking what we'd like to do to help with the home.
"Don't make me"…ugh…my fingers working too fast on me there.
I wish that were the case, but I think it was most likely an admonition for all to play nice in the blogbox…:-/
Yeah me too, but I'll keep my fingers crossed. Afterall my post yesterday was deleted when I merely suggested maybe the pic of Santa Fe linking to the blog meant it was going to be in different development east of the 2010 Dream Home but not out of the area. I know I didn't say anything offensive other than the nasty word e c o n o m y so it was either a mistake it was deleted, Mary didn't want the cat out of the bag yet, or she was telling me no way, get over it.
Hey you forgot the part where you said a girl can dream can't she? ^_^
I sure did, didn't I? A girl can dream, can't she? lol.
Nah, I think I remember the thread below was the one that was meant to be deleted. You have NEVER said anything delete worthy, and Mary is too coy to admit someone has named the location. You're safe:-)
Thanks Debra. Hope they didn't get mad when I gave my honest opinion on the not-so southwest decorating in 2010 dream home. Besides, perhaps they weren't just thinking of us diehard southwesterners but a winner from some other part of the country who isn't as much into the decor as we are but love the house because it was totally awesome even lacking the kiva fireplace which could easily be added.
How many times has she said that! We are more than halfway there. We would drive her totally nuts if she turned the blog around. Or, would we go totally nuts? Okay, Mama Mary, I will behave.
Definitely a scold rather than a clue…otherwise they would have locked down the last blog…I have never seen them do that for fighting before.
