Mary, just so you know, I clicked on a link from a post and there it was, this morning on the HGTVPro website. I shared with my blogger friends because that is what we do:-)
It was not done with any malicious intent. I'm pretty new to this and have not been part of the reveal before. I thought it was a bit anti-climatic, but I just knew with all the suspense the bloggies would appreciate some closure (I know I did!). Plus, I figured if it was already posted, with quotes from Jack and pictures, that it was OK…
You did nothing wrong Debra! I think this is the third or fourth time a blogger has found writen proof of the location before "Mean Mary" posted it. She hasn't sent terrible Ed to the naughty corner, so you should be safe! ^_^
It was great research. If it was not meant to be seen it would not have been there. This is my first year of the reveal also and I thought it would be more dramatic.
I'm sorry Debra I did not mean that you did anything wrong because you DIDN'T… If I had found it I would have posted it asap… It was on the site for all to see. How could we know that they perhaps put it out there prematurely . As Ed said no naughty corner…haha !!!
Does anyone else think it odd that HGTV would put the GH in MA and the DH in VT?
guest on June 18, 2010 at 12:00 am
Not really, it permits Jack to manage two projects at the same time and reduce travel and time away from family. Jack has to be on site a lot so it must be demanding on family obligations.
If they send you to the naughty corner, there will be a lot of us who backed you up (including dreamin-again) who are also in that corner…. Maybe we could play some cards to while away the time? LOL
Oops, did someone let the Vermont Teddy Bear off the assembly line before it was time?
No problem. we won't breathe a word of it to anyone, just as boomer promised. (However, I was JUST IN TIME with my sign on to catch all of the action.)
I HAVE to tell SOMEONE though, so I'm going to whisper it to Show Me. It won't go any farther than that.
I always get a little hungry when I know something is in the works. Oh wouldn't be devine if we were all sitting at a mountain cafe with a good cup of dark chocolate herb tea, a dollop of fresh whip cream from a local dairy or the best coffee and an ever so light and fluffy stack of flapjacks that could melt in your mouth. The orders in, what else does everyone want for a late lunch or dinner?
S – Someplace wonderful
T – Trees
O – Ordinary it is not
W – Winter wonderland
E – Exactly what we want
V – Very unusual
E – Everything you want in a dream home location
R – Restaurants
M – Many attractions
O – Outdoor activities
N – No place better
T – Time to dream
Hello all, I'm behind on blogging & it looks like I really missed something ??? I was in a traffic accident last night, someone ran a red light & wiped out my car; I spent 6 hours in the ER for them to tell me I had contusions !! (I kinda' knew that)!! I'm OK though, but my car is junk now, so I have lots to do dealing with insurance & such. Will try to check in when possible !
good luck to you sorry about your accident. i hope it wasnt a hit and run!!! that happened to me one when i bought my first car….6 hrs after i bought my first car…..i didnt see it again for 3 months. i forgot what it looked like by that point! im glad you're ok though!!
Sorry to hear about your accident, glad you're ok, you'll probably be sore for a few days. Good luck dealing with all the rigamarole. We''ll try to send some better luck your way. Take Care!
Please do not pooh pooh contusions. Wait a day or two and then look and see what there is.
You will probably find colored bruises in places you did not realize. If you have any headache
please look in to it immediately. I am so sorry that your car is gone I sure do hope it was
a clunker. I'll bet the other guy came off less than you. Be well and take it easy God bless you.
I wish it had been a clunker too, it was an '06 Chevy HHR with less than 55,000 miles on it & totally paid for !! Oh well, I have to find another car now, don't know what kind I want, I loved my little HHR !!
Yes, but apparently someone posted the the info and build photos before they had Mary's permission. Everything has been cleaned off for now, but a number of us did see the article, and foundation/build pictures. It is definitely under way in Coop's beloved Stowe, VT
Yes I saw the slideshow etc earlier when I was trying to get from wordpress to intensedebate . I read your post and checked it out. Someone must have goofed up. Do they usually allow the reveal to leak out like this? Somehow I was expecting a GRAND FINALE with whistles and bells etc. on the main page. LOL
I love you! Thanks for your enthusiasm and optimal optimism and feel the same to you. Okay, I am not changing it to mud unless its for a facial. I'll wait twenty four hours.
Are right now what's your problem? I am looking at a post and it is definitely from Janzee in blue! You haven't been taken over by body snatchers or something. Have you? ^_^
It was there Boomer. I think they were a little premature and have shut the link down. "Mean Mary" can't try fo fool us anymore with her devious clues! LOL
On page 10 I was able to copy the announcement and post it (including Jack's quote about Stowe). If you go to page 10 on this blog you can read what was up on the HGTVPro blog for a while…
Here is the announcement portion of the blog:
lifted from HGTVpro.com:
The 15th annual HGTV Dream Home will be located at Spruce Peak in Vermont’s Stowe Mountain Resort, amid emerald-green rolling hills, winding roads and picturesque ski slopes.
The custom-designed home will blend rustic mountain appeal with modern architecture. Created with the bold, innovative ideas that make HGTV Dream Homes so exciting and unique, it includes three bedrooms, three and a half bathrooms, a gourmet kitchen and wonderfully creative living spaces. The home site is nestled in the gaze of the magnificent Mt. Mansfield, with its breathtaking scenery and invigorating outdoor activities. During the winter, visitors and homeowners alike can snow-shoe, snowmobile, ride horses, ride sleighs and ski. During other seasons, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, hiking, leaf peeping and airplane gliding are available. In addition, the eclectic village of Stowe offers a thriving arts community and exciting cultural happenings more typical of large cities.
"This HGTV Dream Home is the first in Vermont, and we intend to show the features that make this location so amazing," said HGTV Dream Home Planner Jack Thomasson. "It’s a spectacular place and the perfect location for our fifteenth-anniversary home."
About Stowe Mountain Resort
The addition of a slope-side luxury hotel and spa, base area, an inter-mountain transfer gondola, lifts and trails, mountainside restaurants, a mountain golf course, winter and summer attractions and spectacular mountainside residences have reinforced Stowe Mountain Resort’s position as an internationally renowned, year-round destination. Visit stowe.com for more details.
Here is what I have to say about that. Cami and I decided that HGTV should have a dream VACATION home in addition to the regular DH. So the DVH is in Hawaii in 2012, and the regular DH is in VA. Right Jack…? Please….? Pretty please…?
From looking at the Spruce Mountain site the cabin floorplans appear to be part of a different area of the resort. the homesites have their own hyperlink. I imagine HTVhad to meet very strict archeticural guidelines and get approvals but not follow the published plans for the cabins…
anyone got a solution to avoiding carpal tunnel! my hand is killing me from scrolling on the mouse!!! its my fault i can't walk away from the blogs but still i don't want injuries from it!!
thanks ill have to try that!! i gotta do something, im hurting bad, my back too but that always happens no matter what i do, especially when im sitting to long.
They have these removable inserts that make them work extra good. You take out the inserts and make sure the velcro is covered and throw them in the washer. I air dry them.
I have back issues too. Those came from breaking my neck (and not knowing I did it). We are going to try to fix it next week. Part of my wrist problems come from this as well.
I used to swith my mouse to my left hand at work. I also have a wrist brace I sleep with at night. The doctor suggested I take vitamin B12. I don't have any more problems! There is also a track ball you can buy to replace your mouse. It just requires moving your thumb on a ball!
thanks Ed, i gotta start taking my vitamins anyway!! i started to take them at one point but i was on some other medications at the same time and wasnt feeling that great so i stopped not knowing which of them was causing the problem. time to try again i think!!
Better hurry up the kids wiped out about five pounds of it before I got up this morning. They also ate half the Chinese burritos I fixed last night for dinner tonight!
LOL!! As the oldest daughter in a family with 7 children, we pretty much were putting up canned goods all summer long. But, I did learn a really great trick. If you run out of things, just throw whatever you do have in a pot, call it sauce and boil up some spaghetti!
Funny! I have ten pounds of spaghetti and a dozen cans of sauce in the pantry for emergencies. And for when I am too lazy to plan ahead! i.e. take stuff out of the freezers the night before! ^_^
Tired, sore, and hoping the web person at HGTV Pto who is getting chewed out for activating a page while he/she was loading it won't get in too much trouble. Its a simple mistake, simple to make and simple not to make.
Vermont is beautiful, especially in the fall. I've photographed all over the New England states in the fall but have never been there in the winter. They are rather severe aren't they. So now what? Surely they will address this blog soon I would think.
In the winter it is a different world. Sometimes it gets so cold the trees freeze solid and split open. When they do, it sounds like a gun going off – POW! Other times there will be a heat wave in the middle of winter and everything turns to slush and mud. And let's not forget the ice storms where everything has a crystal coating, sometimes two inches thick! If your car is outside you can't open the doors until you thaw the ice off of them! Been there done that! ^_^
I want to thank MARY for our Dream Home 2011 wild goose chase, which covered many long weeks of late night, red-eye research, cryptic clues, and mind-numbing numbers navigation. Her crafty clues led us over hill and dale, through fair weather and "fowl", to every possible compass setting and Chinese restaurant in the 48 states, AND Alaska and Hawaii. We were scattered north, east, south and west, with forks in the road, dead-ends, and wrong way signs throughout our dedicated quest. At times "udderly" confused, we plodded this way and that until, spent and exhausted, a few weary stragglers decided to rest their heads (and their frazzled blogging fingers) at the nearest Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream Factory, which as luck would have it, was in Vermont. Let it be said that, at MARY's request, we never gave up!
Hmm, should we be extending our sympathies, OmahaLady? I think envy is more appropriate! That wouldn't be a bad place to get locked into overnight, as a matter of fact!
I just want to thank you too Coop, for first being the first one, (yet again this time), to figure out the location again,(if it is VT for sure), And second for all of your wonderful posts. You really are an awesome person and I really think your posts are great. Good luck to you Coop!!!
The person who found the updated the HGTVPro website complete with the location announcement and foundation build picture links, this morning. I am no longer mentioning names because someone is clearly going to be hearing about the "mistake" back at the HGTV office, but a number of us saw the announcement and viewed the pictures before they were disabled this afternoon… So densetve, you were right. Stowe, VT it is:-)
He has his ways of communicating for different things & he rats his fur siblings out when they do something wrong like Max eating the corner off my husband's birthday cake I had just finished decorating. He'll either come to me with that sharp Lassie bark or he'll grunt like when he's ratting Tux out for being up on top of kitchen cabinets. He's also very protective. We believe his primary breed is English Shepherd (very intelligent herding dog) & other maybe chow or husky. His mom was shot when her pups were only 3 wks old because she was thought to be a wolfdog but he looks nothing like a wolfdog. Max is really smart too although he acts like a big goofball. He taught himself how to shake, give hi-5, sit, & go down just by watching Elvis when we'd give treats. He watches stuff Elvis does & learns from him.
I drew my own dream home layout when we first got married but I have lost it somewhere with all the moves. It was a layout of combo of a couple of floorplans I liked and planned that it would have the southwestern stucco look outside & the arches, art niches, & pony walls inside & let's don't forget fireplaces. I wish I knew where it was.
Hi, I did the search for Stowe, and a hit came back for a dream home in Stowe, but it was a "dream home" for the person who built it. It was already completed and furnished. Don't we usually get to watch the construction. Unless there was something else, I don't think Stowe is it…IMHO
Is there something else I'm missing (no jokes – have heard all the "one brick short…" from my husband, lol)?
zpdedoda on June 17, 2010 at 11:16 pm
Sorry you missed it ZP. There was an announcement on the HGTVPro website and the first 50 pictures of the construction. It was have been premature because they closed the link. You can put that brick back now, but it is definitely Stowe! ^_^
Okay, I think I'm catching up now…yeah, #1…I missed it too. Just got on after being too busy for a couple of days…thought something bad had happened (header said "no more posts"). Guess a few lucky ones got a preview, huh? How fun that must have been.
Hi there. Good, I'm glad your back. I guess that a couple of people did find a link to the new DH and they removed it right away. We could still be wrong though. It said that it was in Stowe, Vt. and it really sound beautiful. I can't wait until they finally tell us the real location, though. How about you????
For purposes of enjoying this lovely location, I think we need to make a list of potential house warming gifts. Here is a start:
Skiing lessons
Full coverage helmets
Knee pads
Crutches
A case of Ben-Gay
A programmed phone system with speed dial numbers for a prescreened list of reputable dentists and orthopedic surgeons in the area
I gave up skiing- so no ski lessons for me. I want the 2010 Green Home so this one can be for someone else.
Battery operated socks would be a good gift.
I like the socks idea, too:-) As for me I will not let a thing like a full on face plant which resulted in a LOVELY black eye, deter me from learning to do something that I apparently should already be pretty good at by virtue of my figure skating skills.
Note to ski instructors EVERYWHERE: Ice skating and skiing are not even close to being similar! We are talking legions apart, oceans away, from one universe to the next diametrically opposed to each other. And to that six-year old that whizzed by just as my face hit the ground, it is not nice to laugh at adults just because they scream on the way down…
Re: note to ski instructors.——-pause———sorry I'm laughing so hard—–pause. There, better. You brought back a memory—-my one and only "30 second" trip on ice. You're right those "six-year olds" lack compassion! haha
How about a emergency fund for all the co-pays and emergency room visits. It might come in handy to cover all the injuries from learning how to ski. Let's hope they won't be necessary though. LOL!!!
And I'll donate a nice warm quilt (since it'll give me a reason to buy more fabric) and that way I can be involved even if I don't win…again.
Whew, close call: my laptop battery almost went out on me…I had to scramble
Now that's excellent thinking aerosgal. I'll also bring a lot of yummy hot chocolate and whipped cream for the top. That would go great with your wonderful quilt on a cold winters night. Imagine, sitting by the nice toasty fireplace with your cup of yummy hot chocolate curled up with your beautiful quilt watching the snow gently falling outside your beautiful new dream home. Wouldn't that be sweet??? By the way, We should be calling you quick draw??? He!! He!!
#1HGTVLVR on June 17, 2010 at 11:35 pm
ummmm, i had to go get a bit of brownie…okay, I'm slow…why "quick draw"? then i'll give my brownie recipe…
That would apply…I was right in the middle of typing when I looked down at my battery level…as slow as my typing was going, I did not want to start over…
If my first skiing attempt is any indication, those co-pays could come in handy LOL! Thinking I was going the "low impact" route I tried cross country skiing. HA! I got stuck in iced tracks, going downhill, in a curved and shaded area. The first thing to hit were the corner of my sun glasses which were shoved into my eye. It was NOT pretty!
I know. Great idea right???? You poor thing. That must have hurt. Sounds like you need a better trainer. LOL! Maybe this go round will be a lot better for you and you won't be needing any of those co-pays. One can only hope. Skiing is a lot of fun, but it's definitely an acquired taste. Practice does make perfect though. You hang in there girl. You can do it. Happy Dreaming to you Debra.
That's always fun too. That is one of my all time favorite things to do in the winter. We like to have races and make a huge family day of it, if it isn't too cold for everyone, that is. Then we drink hot spiced apple cider or hot chocolate after wards and catch up with each other.
okay, this is my first try from my email…if it works, boy, will this be better. I was really having trouble just typing responses right on the blog…let's see…
Oh, I'm glad that it worked this time. I wouldn't have even thought that you having a problem at all. It's really great to hear from you, any way you do it.
Well, thank you, that's so sweet. I pop back and forth between the hgtv blog pages and my email (imagine my husband saying something silly about me becoming addicted…hmph). Both are working well tonight. Guess last night something was a bit snaffu.
aerosgal on June 19, 2010 at 3:10 am
You are very welcome. I do the same thing and my husband says the same thing to me, about being addicted. I don't think that I'm addicted, just having a lot of fun with an awesome group of wonderful people. I'm glad that the site is working better now, because from time to time, it does that. I had a little trouble viewing the video for the location of the new DH today, but I think it's better now. I hope so. Well, TTYS. Good luck to you and Happy Dreaming.
.Debra , you really need to paste these ski stories forward. They are great.
PS: I'd love to meet the person who thought a paper thin blade is meant to "stand up" on on ice. And as for skis–well when the snow boards hit the scene, I thought "now there's a ski I might be able to go down hill on." LOL
Honestly, I did not connect all the clues to Vermont. Some of them fit anywhere USA and some of them fit the West Coast states and Vermont was so at the forefront that It seemed too obvious. I guess it's like they say, "Not being able to see the forest for the trees." LOL
Sorry MeKhazSimi. Although I'm not big on anywhere north because I just really can't take the frigid cold winters, Montana is a beautiful place well at least from pics I have seen anyway.
God definitely went all out when creating the western part of our beautiful country & made it stand out among all the rest. I might be eastern born, but I'm western at heart.
My best guess is either tomorrow or after the Green House winner is contacted. With the accidental reveal on the HGVT Pro blog earlier in the day, timing of things may be different:-)
I was and am still a little bit focused on either Providence, RI. or Minnesota. For all we know, we could still be wrong about VT. Remember, they haven't officially revealed the location just yet.
Where's C&E at the moment? That fortune cookie of yours was just about right on! Talk about the Chinese dinner that sees into the future, that one is for the record books.
Hey everybody they are probably accepting proposals for DH 2012. I know they want the home completed by July 31. So the Stowe VT house is probably much farther along than everyone thinks. i had a friend send in a proposal for 2010 and this is his link to the RFP. http://images.hgtvpro.com/pac/dreamhome_search/im…
Did you see the pictures from HGTVPro before the link went down. They were all dated on the bottom. Basically as of two days ago the basement is in and the first floor above is roughed in! I remember seeing that RFQ on the HGTVPro site last year! It's amazing how fast they can put these houses up!
I just find it hard that they would choose Plymouth, MA for the Green Home and Stowe, VT for the Dream Home . . maybe they are just toying with us, trying to throw us off. . . just my thoughts.
Texas gal on June 17, 2010 at 11:25 pm
hard to believe I meant
Texas Gal on June 17, 2010 at 11:28 pm
It was officially posted on the HGTVPro website for a bit, but then taken down. Page 10 on this blog has a lot more information and the press release statement from Jack saying it is Stowe, VT. Someone let the cat out of the bag early, but it is definitely VT. Pictures of the building site and construction were accessible for a while, too.
Thanks Debra . . I just found it odd that's all. Again, thanks, I appreciate it!
Texas Gal on June 18, 2010 at 1:06 am
Developers pretty much bid on the priviledge of having the homes in their developments. It just happened that the most attractive offers were in the North East this year – the blog cabin, the green home and now the dream home!
Here is my thought about the close proximity. Jack has a family and other business ventures to tend to in addition to Dream Home. If HGTV had the homes relatively close, it would allow him to go back and forth managing the builds, and still have some time for his personal life and family.
They need to clone Jack then, lol. I can definitely see the reasoning behind it but still feel it was a bit unfair the New England area got all 3–Blog Cabin, Green Home, & Dream Home. Oh well, it's in a beautiful area so I am sure it will be a beautiful home loved by someone next year this time.
It's a 4 1/2 hour ride from the green home. maybe not as close as it seems.
Kathleen on June 18, 2010 at 2:29 am
That's kind of funny in a nice way Kathleen. 4 1/2 hours wouldn't even get you a fourth of the way across Texas. They have a different sense of "nearness" down there! ^_^
The College World Series starts this weekend! Busy 10-11 days ahead. Eight of the best college baseball teams and 100,000 fans in town for a while. I will be busy until next Thursday then I take a forced "vacation".
I'm so confused, I would have given dollars-to-doughnuts that Clue One was
Honey spoon = honeymoon = Poconos.
I'm having trouble telling up from down..(again no jokes)
zpdedoda on June 17, 2010 at 11:48 pm
I'm just pondering the thought that "dont make me turn this blog around" could be a clue in itself, and we're headed back west again, but I don't think any of us really want to go back and start all over…we've come too far. Have a great day everyone!
The reveal was accidentally posted on the HGTV Pro blog this morning. As soon as word got out, the site page was disabled, but not before some of us were able to see the building site and foundation pour photos. It is definitely in Stowe, VT
I know that someone has mentioned Vermont…..HOWEVER, I believe I found some of our clues while on vacation this past week.
Do you know how many WRONG WAY signs are posted in Wisconsin? MANY! And, my dh informed me there IS a Lake Champlain in the area. I'm quite sure many of you would agree it has the wonderful dairy cows AND plenty of snow to cover all those clues. lol While in a gardening center, checking out the apple trees, there was also an organic section that had quite a few of the Honey produced in the area. As much as I thought it was NY…..I may have to reconsider, Wisconsin as my new choice for the DH.
Trish on June 18, 2010 at 12:14 am
honey did you not read the blog today? we found it!!!!! its in Stowe, Vermont!!! the HGTVpro site had up the pictures and everything but when they found out we knew…zap!!! they disappeared!! the BIG REVEAL is coming soon!! : )
The home site location was posted accidentally on the HGTVPro website, with a link to the building site photos. It is definitely in Stowe, VT. Here is what was posted:

Ah Ha!!! Another one who thinks it might be in Wisconsin. That was one of my guesses all along too. Just for that reason. Mary did tell us that a couple of us were right on. That would be a nice location for the DH too. It is a wonderful place.
It's o.k. I knew what you meant. He!! He!! Anyways, Yes I did see that. I'm not sure what to think about it though. I found a link like that last week, but it was removed right away too. It said "view the Dream Home" and I clicked on it and it said the builder was from Edina, MN. Then I went to click on it a few minutes later and the link was gone. Not sure what to think about that one either. Hmmmm???? Things that make you go Hmmm???? J/K I guess that for me I will wait until they really reveal the new DH. Although Stowe, VT. does sound beautiful. Have a great evening you. TTYS! Sweet Dreaming to you.
The difference #1 is that this announcement was on the official HGTVpro Website and was up for a few hours before it was removed. I was one of the ones that was lucky enough to view the official announcement and the first 50 construction photos. They have the basement poured and the the first floor roughed in on it. Pretty elaborate hoax?! ^_^
My theory works…..put in some definitely WRONG sitings and places and Mary will just shake her head out of frustration with bloggers such as me; then, we'll get the official site.
Trish on June 18, 2010 at 2:49 pm
Oooooh…when we travel, I tend to notice the license plates. By the way, it's really something to see Hawaii tags pop up in the midwest!
If we're doing any BOLO on this event, I noticed TWO Tennessee tags. One of the tags was a U-haul that had a loaded trucked hitched to it. Many carpentry tools were inside. My brain was spinning. Hey…does Jack ever sport a mustache? Clever disguise if he does.
This has brought up a NEW question: IF we are getting to vote about designing the house/viewing the construction site with Jack, or helping Linda decorate a room, or hitting the final nail………Wouldn't the winner already be chosen for this? Does this mean they are choosing the winner BEFORE? Whose minds are spinning now? uh huh….just what I thought!
Trish on June 18, 2010 at 12:19 am
Using a map to give directions to a person who has lived in the area is NOT the thing to do. I have learned that maps do NOT tell you what the speed limits will be in all those Quaint little towns you felt would be a short cut.
And…I have figured out a way to have 2 votes. Find computers of family and friends who do not follow the site and vote more than once. Yep. I did this. Now, I will go to my corner.
Night all…..12 hours of driving can be tiring.
Trish on June 18, 2010 at 12:23 am
Trish fair warning if you ever go through West Virginia the entire place is a "speed enforcement zone" (speed trap, in other words).
lol…my dh's response…I don't think this suv will go 25 mph. I guess we learned it could.
Trish on June 18, 2010 at 2:50 pm
I guess a lot of people did not see the gaff that occured this afternoon? They might as well make it official now….. For those that missed it, they pulled the pages back offline.so following the link wont help. But they were up long enough for quite a few of us to see DH2011 location, and pictures of the foundation/main floor going up… All that is left is a cut and paste in the blog on page 10… If your curious about what it says, go read it.
Here is the information that was contained on the HGTV Pro blog for a while:

Thank you Debra! I was debating whether I should cut and paste the info… you took care of it.. (I stepped out for the afternoon, and wasn't sure if we were still "talking" about it or if we were trying to be "good" LOL Awesome work!
Thank you, and you're welcome:-) And yes, I did manage two conference calls, wrote a report, sent another, and generated a few client invoices while waiting…LOL!!!
WOW!!! That's quite the house. A little big, but still it's awesome. Debra is right, it's not a house, it IS a self contained village. LOL!!! Nice thought though. Thanks for sharing.
This is a gorgeous home but……I strongly dislike white….and white everything I find to look entirely formal and could never feel warm and cozy there. I don't mean to be unkind….just my opinion.

I wouldn't worry about it Nature lover. I don't think anyone in that house is readig this blog right now! i think the whole size thing takes away the cozynesss factor! ^_^
They even took the links off of the HGTV Pro website. Before I was able to pull up the list of articles using "2011" or "Stowe" to search. A couple of the articles named Stowe as the 2011 Dream Home Location. Now those articles aren't even listed.
Here is the one that appeared on the HGTV Pro blog earlier today:
lifted from HGTVpro.com:

Thank you Debra. I hadn't read that. In fact the only links they have that I found were about a couple that built their dream home there. It even shows beautiful picture of their wonderful home and the articles are about them. So, this is very interesting. Thanks again.
Hi there everyone. I just pulled up that link and was able to get into the articles and it was a bunch of articles on a couple that just built their dream home in Stowe, VT. It really sounds like a beautiful place for a dream home though. Although, just last week, when I logged onto the HGTV main page of this blog, it did have an article that read "view the Dream Home". When I clicked onto it, the article on it read the builder of it was from Edina, MN. Then when I went to click onto it a few minutes later, it was completely gone. Kind of makes you wonder, huh???? Hmmmmmm??????
I just saw the comments about the unintentional reveal. Congratulations to Coop and all of you who guessed Vermont! It will be a beautiful location for a dream home. Next year I'll have a better idea of just how tricky Mary can be! By the time I come back from my trip I guess there will be lots more to see. Happy Vermont dreams everyone.
Sue on June 18, 2010 at 2:15 am
Happy Vacation Sue. Where are you going? Sorry our clues for Missouri were not correct. But yes, it does look like this will be a home in 4 Seasonal Wonderland.
Hi blogging friends. When I left it was just revealed over at the hgtvpro site. Now, I discover that the pro site was a OOPS! And that they were not suppose to post it yet. Well, that does make me feel better for I was really surprised it would be posted there first after all our faithful blogging and guessing with this clue game for two whole months. Does sound like a REAL DREAM HOME LOCATION! Which, I never doubted. Thanks HGTV for your generous gifts of dream homes. Mary, will there be a video also of all the details? Plus, can we get your EXACT answers to all your clues? Thanks!
I know 1LMichele. I came across a different link on the main page of this site, just last week that said "view the Dream Home". I clicked on it and it had an article that said that the builder of this DH was from Edina, MN. Then when I went to click onto it again a few minutes later, it was gone. What do you think of that??? I've been wondering about that ever since. Hmmmmmm?????
You know, I think I also saw that but just did not click on it thinking it did not mean anything. HA! I guess many strange things have been happening around here.
Word is on the street that Nelda, Zelda and the winner of the 2010 Blog Cabin in New York will be alternating long visits at the 2010 Green Home in Mass. and the 2011 Dream Home in Vt. because they have (and will have) AIR CONDITIONING.
Checked Stowe, Vermont @ 9amEDT it was 72.5 degrees with 62% Humidity and Heat Index of 76
Never heard of a DH or GH without AC
Mary, just so you know, I clicked on a link from a post and there it was, this morning on the HGTVPro website. I shared with my blogger friends because that is what we do:-)
Please do not sen me to the naughty corner…;-/
haha ….yep any of us would have done the same thing
It was not done with any malicious intent. I'm pretty new to this and have not been part of the reveal before. I thought it was a bit anti-climatic, but I just knew with all the suspense the bloggies would appreciate some closure (I know I did!). Plus, I figured if it was already posted, with quotes from Jack and pictures, that it was OK…
You did nothing wrong Debra! I think this is the third or fourth time a blogger has found writen proof of the location before "Mean Mary" posted it. She hasn't sent terrible Ed to the naughty corner, so you should be safe! ^_^
Phew, that's a relief! Especially since I know you have been much naughtier than me, Ed LOL!!!
Yep! And obviously proud of it too!
How could we know that they perhaps put it out there prematurely
. As Ed said no naughty corner…haha !!!
No, I knew it was all in good fun:-) Right, Mary? Right?!?!?
I should add as soon as I saw it over here I posted in on the Green blog
Ok, then I am in the clear because I wasn't even on the GH blog!!
Yep that was me me me me Mary
!!!
Does anyone else think it odd that HGTV would put the GH in MA and the DH in VT?
It won't go any farther than that.
you're so cute!! lol too funny : )
Show Me is a good boy I know he won't say anything to anyone.
Works for me! I have never tried dark chocolate herb tea, but it sounds quite good.
You can get it at Whole Foods market its deviva.
S – Someplace wonderful
T – Trees
O – Ordinary it is not
W – Winter wonderland
E – Exactly what we want
V – Very unusual
E – Everything you want in a dream home location
R – Restaurants
M – Many attractions
O – Outdoor activities
N – No place better
T – Time to dream
Great!! I love it
good job!!
Oh geez gremol. I'm so sorry to hear that! I'm glad that you weren't injured more severly! Sorry about the car! What a hassle!! Take care of yourself!
Oh gosh, I am glad to hear you are OK!!
Sorry to hear about your accident, glad you're ok, you'll probably be sore for a few days. Good luck dealing with all the rigamarole. We''ll try to send some better luck your way. Take Care!
Very sorry to hear that gremrol. Glad it was only contusions!
Okay I think I'm back in business with intensedebate. Haven't a clue but they reset everything for me. So is the reveal really Stowe Vt?
Oh this is great my yellow tab and my posts are back. I'm happy!!!!!!!!!!! It's the little things in life!!!!!!!!!!! LOL
Don't forget the critter picture too! ^_^
LOL
Well I guess my name is not Janzee!!
is your clock fast.?… i was reloading the page at 6:00 and 6:01 to see if a new blog post was coming….guess not : ( tomorrow maybe?
I think your name is so neat and unique. Wait at least 24 hours before you change your name, please.
Have you? ^_^
Ask me a secret question, and then you will decide whether I am Janzee, or an imposter on a poster.
If you go to HGTVPro and search "2011" or "Stowe" it brings up the articles but won't open the links.
It was there Boomer. I think they were a little premature and have shut the link down. "Mean Mary" can't try fo fool us anymore with her devious clues! LOL
I saw it, thanks to your links. I just wish I could find a way for all the other blogger to see it.
On page 10 I was able to copy the announcement and post it (including Jack's quote about Stowe). If you go to page 10 on this blog you can read what was up on the HGTVPro blog for a while…
Here is the announcement portion of the blog:

Hugs! Virginia in 2013? Doesn't Cami get Hawaii in 2012?
Here is what I have to say about that. Cami and I decided that HGTV should have a dream VACATION home in addition to the regular DH. So the DVH is in Hawaii in 2012, and the regular DH is in VA. Right Jack…? Please….? Pretty please…?
But Cami has to let each of us have a week kind of like a timeshare so we can all enjoy with her.
From looking at the Spruce Mountain site the cabin floorplans appear to be part of a different area of the resort. the homesites have their own hyperlink. I imagine HTVhad to meet very strict archeticural guidelines and get approvals but not follow the published plans for the cabins…
anyone got a solution to avoiding carpal tunnel! my hand is killing me from scrolling on the mouse!!! its my fault i can't walk away from the blogs but still i don't want injuries from it!!
spelling?
Yes- get yourself some of the stiff wrist supports that hook on with velcro. They make you keep your hands level and in the right position.
Here is a link: I use #4 and 7 – I have two sets. They are reversible and washable. http://www.walgreens.com/search/results.jsp?Ntt=w…
thanks ill have to try that!! i gotta do something, im hurting bad, my back too but that always happens no matter what i do, especially when im sitting to long.
I would definitely move the mouse to the left hand first. I will feel awkward at first. But you will get used to it!
Man, I hope so!!!!
Oh, wonderful. ha ha
So this is what she meant by ground breaking… Because I just know they are building a DH in VA, right Mary??
Naw I got stck at the the Jack Daniels place in Lynchburg TN.
Hmm, should we be extending our sympathies, OmahaLady? I think envy is more appropriate! That wouldn't be a bad place to get locked into overnight, as a matter of fact!
Coop, correct me if I am wrong, but didn't you say Vermont from clue #1?
Did you get to see the announcement and construction pictures, before they closed the link Coop?
Heck, I am beginning to think Coop was sitting on the ridge top taking the pictures LOL!
I think you might be right . Veeerrrrrry interesting. haha
Hawaii & Alaska might not be connected but they're still part of the 50 states adding their splendor & beauty.
I just want to thank you too Coop, for first being the first one, (yet again this time), to figure out the location again,(if it is VT for sure), And second for all of your wonderful posts. You really are an awesome person and I really think your posts are great. Good luck to you Coop!!!
WHO FOUND THE LOCATION?
Amazing stories ttousa, its the best ones to hear before going to bed. I do think you would enjoy the book Simple Abundance.
Glad I was able to oblige you in good bedtime reading. Yes, it's definitely less scarier than Stephen King…hehe.
That's why you should write good stories for the general audience. The kind of back to basics return to the "old ways stories."
Sorry you missed it ZP. There was an announcement on the HGTVPro website and the first 50 pictures of the construction. It was have been premature because they closed the link. You can put that brick back now, but it is definitely Stowe! ^_^
Thank you, turn around for just a minute (4-5hrs), and the world rushes by…lol
Thanks for the update.
Hi ZP. I saw that too, so you wouldn't be the only one that's one brick short, although, I really didn't think you were, or I was. He!! He!!
OK, who wants to go next?
Several pints of Ben & Jerry's, just to "ice" any injuries of course.
Positively brilliant, Coop… Please make mine Pistachio! Pistachio!, and may I have an extra large scooper, too?
I love their Pistachio Pistachio. I loved their NY Chessecake too before it was discontinued.
Of course!
You're right those "six-year olds" lack compassion! haha
Honey, flapjacks and maple syrup
And a REALLY BIG plate!
Snuggies
"I've fallen and I can't get up" – emergency button on a necklace
Pain Killers
"Can you hear me now" – cell
LOL!!!! Perfect!!!
I'll have the blueberry pancakes with that maple syrup, please.
A free membership to a person spa (as opposed to a doggie spa) with unlimited massages and a case of glucosamine.
Yummmmm:-) I really like this one!
I don't know about the spa boomer, but I can relate to the glucosamine chondroiton, Sam-e & fish oil! LOL
…and boomer don't forget the okra for the miracle tightening cream that you will start selling to all the spa's
!!!
artic coat and pants for winter wear outside and lots of heat for winter inside
A mountain goat cart, to help me get up and down the hills! ^_^
He!! He!!
ummmm, i had to go get a bit of brownie…okay, I'm slow…why "quick draw"? then i'll give my brownie recipe…
Probably for your speed in getting your lap top plugged in! ^_^
I don't think my knees (among other things) will take skiing…maybe sledding…with the kiddies.
Same to you, #1, and "May God bless…"
Back atcha and Gods speed to you as well.
.Debra , you really need to paste these ski stories forward. They are great.
PS: I'd love to meet the person who thought a paper thin blade is meant to "stand up" on on ice. And as for skis–well when the snow boards hit the scene, I thought "now there's a ski I might be able to go down hill on." LOL
I don't think it would be any bettter. You still stand up on them. You don't sit or lay on them. ^_^
Very funny, ed! Now go to the REVEAL page and join the party there!
There you go bossing me around again!! ^_^ I've already been there! Came back here for old times sake! LOL
I think so too. Their a hoot, as long as nobody was hurt in the making of any of them.
Honestly, I did not connect all the clues to Vermont. Some of them fit anywhere USA and some of them fit the West Coast states and Vermont was so at the forefront that It seemed too obvious. I guess it's like they say, "Not being able to see the forest for the trees." LOL
In my case it was not being able to see the forest for VIRGINIA!
Yes you were totally focused. For me it was Montana but that quickly faded away.
Sorry MeKhazSimi. Although I'm not big on anywhere north because I just really can't take the frigid cold winters, Montana is a beautiful place well at least from pics I have seen anyway.
ttousa1, the winter is quite cold but it is beautiful.
God definitely went all out when creating the western part of our beautiful country & made it stand out among all the rest. I might be eastern born, but I'm western at heart.
ttousa1, Me too.
It is gorgeous! My husband and I really enjoy the hiking and rock hounding options. You can even go ruby hunting:-)
Debra, do we know yet when they will make the "formal' reveal?
My best guess is either tomorrow or after the Green House winner is contacted. With the accidental reveal on the HGVT Pro blog earlier in the day, timing of things may be different:-)
I was and am still a little bit focused on either Providence, RI. or Minnesota. For all we know, we could still be wrong about VT. Remember, they haven't officially revealed the location just yet.
Now there's a forlorn hope #1! I saw the site before they realized their mistake and severed the link! ^_^
Don't worry about it. Just follow Coop's lead next year like I do! It's a lot easier. And usually less disappointing! ^_^
Where's C&E at the moment? That fortune cookie of yours was just about right on! Talk about the Chinese dinner that sees into the future, that one is for the record books.
Cool, Coop. Where do go to get one of those????
Hey everybody they are probably accepting proposals for DH 2012. I know they want the home completed by July 31. So the Stowe VT house is probably much farther along than everyone thinks. i had a friend send in a proposal for 2010 and this is his link to the RFP. http://images.hgtvpro.com/pac/dreamhome_search/im…
do you think Linda is Jacks mom? in the picture on this link they so look related!!! lol
Yikes! It must be a bad camera angle. Maybe brother and sister…?
Did you see the pictures from HGTVPro before the link went down. They were all dated on the bottom. Basically as of two days ago the basement is in and the first floor above is roughed in! I remember seeing that RFQ on the HGTVPro site last year! It's amazing how fast they can put these houses up!
I had a quick glance before they took down the site, and noticed several slides dated May 8th.
I just find it hard that they would choose Plymouth, MA for the Green Home and Stowe, VT for the Dream Home . . maybe they are just toying with us, trying to throw us off. . . just my thoughts.
hard to believe I meant
It was officially posted on the HGTVPro website for a bit, but then taken down. Page 10 on this blog has a lot more information and the press release statement from Jack saying it is Stowe, VT. Someone let the cat out of the bag early, but it is definitely VT. Pictures of the building site and construction were accessible for a while, too.
Thanks Debra . . I just found it odd that's all. Again, thanks, I appreciate it!
That's kind of funny in a nice way Kathleen. 4 1/2 hours wouldn't even get you a fourth of the way across Texas. They have a different sense of "nearness" down there! ^_^
Now, if we could just get them to accidentally post the name of the winner!
WOuldn't that be nice! LOL!!
Well, the goods news—tomorrow's Friday. Hopefully it will be a great weekend, on the blogs and off.
In the meantime, it's dinnertime isn't it, and I have a great new wine to try out. Maybe I should splurge and open the champagne. Yes, brilliant idea!
Enjoy the evening, fellow bloggers.
The College World Series starts this weekend! Busy 10-11 days ahead. Eight of the best college baseball teams and 100,000 fans in town for a while. I will be busy until next Thursday then I take a forced "vacation".
Forced vacation doesn't sound good. I hope everyghing is okay!
I should have said this earlier THANK YOU!!!! I can't wait to see the finished house.
I'm so confused, I would have given dollars-to-doughnuts that Clue One was
Honey spoon = honeymoon = Poconos.
I'm having trouble telling up from down..(again no jokes)
I'm just pondering the thought that "dont make me turn this blog around" could be a clue in itself, and we're headed back west again, but I don't think any of us really want to go back and start all over…we've come too far. Have a great day everyone!
The reveal was accidentally posted on the HGTV Pro blog this morning. As soon as word got out, the site page was disabled, but not before some of us were able to see the building site and foundation pour photos. It is definitely in Stowe, VT
Wow, I missed it! Thanks for the update, I had no "clue". Good luck on the sweeps.
I was on here when this first started. I was the first one to say Vermont! I wish I would have stayed on through all the clues.
http://www.hgtvpro.com/hpro/photo_template/articl…
I just finished looking through the time laps photos and Wow! the area is beautiful!
Did that link work for everyone?
Anna, try this link. Hope it works.

As much as I thought it was NY…..I may have to reconsider, Wisconsin as my new choice for the DH.
honey did you not read the blog today? we found it!!!!! its in Stowe, Vermont!!! the HGTVpro site had up the pictures and everything but when they found out we knew…zap!!! they disappeared!! the BIG REVEAL is coming soon!! : )
The home site location was posted accidentally on the HGTVPro website, with a link to the building site photos. It is definitely in Stowe, VT. Here is what was posted:
lifted from HGTVpro.com:
Ah Ha!!! Another one who thinks it might be in Wisconsin. That was one of my guesses all along too. Just for that reason. Mary did tell us that a couple of us were right on. That would be a nice location for the DH too. It is a wonderful place.
Hey, 31, are you reading all the info about the accidental reveal from HGTVpro that said it was stowe, Vt?
Sorry, mistyped…meant"#1" :l
Trish fair warning if you ever go through West Virginia the entire place is a "speed enforcement zone" (speed trap, in other words).
That's pretty much the main source of income for a lot of those towns!!!!
lol…my dh's response…I don't think this suv will go 25 mph. I guess we learned it could.

DEBBIE- CHECK OUT clue# 14 page 19
I think the developer that did the 2007 DH did this one as well. I loved that house.
Good night folks – this page is starting to act up again, Its too frustrating to try to deal with………..
Good night to you too OmahaLady. Sweet Dreaming to you.
I didn't know it but as of the census in 2000 the population in Stowe was 4339. That was from this web site. http://www.frontdoor.com/City-Guide/Stowe-VT-USA
My my my. Wouldn't it be nice if this was the home? Lol!
http://www.frontdoor.com/For_Sale/Listing/882-428…
there is no one here who could afford the taxes on a house like that!!!! lol nice one though! : )
LOL! That isn't a house, that is a self contained village!
It better come with hot and cold runnin maids! LOL $884/square foot – ouch!
Haha EdinOregon. Did you click through the pictures? A person could rent the theater room out as a Cinema to help pay the mortgage!
With that mortgage payment you would have to book concerts in there to make a difference. Just no quite "cozy" enough for me! ^_^
WOW!!! That's quite the house. A little big, but still it's awesome. Debra is right, it's not a house, it IS a self contained village. LOL!!! Nice thought though. Thanks for sharing.
That would make Blake & Alexis on Dynasty green with envy!
For $16 million, it better have 6 baths. LOL
Oopps! I meant 9 bathrooms!
http://www.frontdoor.com/For_Sale/listing/583-143…
Beautiful scenery!

I prefer double deck pinocle! LOL
Happy Vacation Sue. Where are you going? Sorry our clues for Missouri were not correct. But yes, it does look like this will be a home in 4 Seasonal Wonderland.
Sue is going to Montana.
Back atcha Sue. Happy Dreaming to you too and have a wonderful time on your vacation.
Enjoy your trip Sue!
Where oh Where is Mary?
I am sure she is in hiding! Too embarassed to show her face, now that we already know the location! ^_^
I think she is at HGTV Pro finding out who spilled the beans. Maybe it was Duke!
O.K. Who scared her?????
Waiting and wondering….
Me too!! Me too!!
I know, but finally the answers that we have all been waiting for. Stowe, VT. Awesome!!!
They picked a wonderful place for next years Dream Home. Way to go Jack!
Spruce Peak in Vermonts Stowe Mountains Resort http://www.sprucepeak.com/
That would be a short drive from your blog cabin Kathy! How are Nelda & Zelda doing?
Word is on the street that Nelda, Zelda and the winner of the 2010 Blog Cabin in New York will be alternating long visits at the 2010 Green Home in Mass. and the 2011 Dream Home in Vt. because they have (and will have) AIR CONDITIONING.
Checked Stowe, Vermont @ 9amEDT it was 72.5 degrees with 62% Humidity and Heat Index of 76
Never heard of a DH or GH without AC
I hope they have AC. I hope Scripps isn;t starting a trend! I don't blame N&Z!
I think Mary is getting ready to make the announcement because stuff has moved around on the main page with big blank area.
I like Plymouth
I like Plymouth MA too. No dream home there though! ^_^
