  1. Cami and Our Army Family are correct with the double entry for UO. Why are they doubling up on the entries? Have they ever done this before? Just curious.

MeKhazSimi on September 1, 2010 at 10:15 am
    • No, as far as I know (or as long back as I can remember), HGTV has not had two different places you can enter. It was always once a day…and we took that and we were happy! So, maybe now, this will help us bloggers have double the fun and double the chances, huh?

Go Bloggers, Go Bloggers, Go Bloggers! One of these days, one of us will win…I'm sure of it my friends!

LynnCoggin on September 1, 2010 at 7:19 pm
      • Hi LynnCoggin Thanks for the info. I was somewhat hesitant this morning—I don't see the purpose, unless it's for sales/marketing info gathering for both sites. At the Frontdoor site, they write a blurb below the thank you message that states "to enter at both HGTV and Frontdoor-daily."

With "4" DH opportunities on the horizon—the Blogger odds are on the rise!!!!! Dreamin' on

MeKhazSimi on September 1, 2010 at 7:40 pm
    • Maybe they're trying to introduce people to the Frontdoor site.

AnneEliseSouth on September 1, 2010 at 7:28 pm
      • I am sure that is what they are doing Anne. One contest that advertises both sites makes good business sense.

  2. Hello all ! Haven't been here in a while; doing the back injections, they seem to be helping a lot. So The next Green Home will be in Colorado??? Cool !! I think I'd like that part of our Country. Just look at all the homes we can enter to win…..Dream Home, Green Home, Blog Cabin, Urban Oasis !! Makes you think you might actually have a chance to win one !!! Whatever happened to the Idea House ? Anyone know??

gremol on September 1, 2010 at 11:51 am
    • Glad the injections are working for you and that you are feeling better! Sunset and Southern Living magazines have Idea Houses, but I don't know about HGTV.

CplusE on September 1, 2010 at 4:34 pm
    • Hi,

I hope your back injections help you to heal fast ! Are they spinal steroid shots ? If you are female, I think they can safely give you a course of six injections, any more than that and you risk osteoporosis.
Take care, relax and get well soon.

      • They are RFA (radio frequency ablation); they 'kill' the nerves in the facet joints. There's a possibility the nerves can grow back in about a year or so & I'll have to have them redone; but a year of pain free, drug free walking is worth it!!

gremol on September 2, 2010 at 12:56 am
        • I've just started a series of back surgeries. Injection wasn't a choice for me. Good luck!

  3. Just looked at Green Home floor plans, love it ! 4 bedrooms!! That's what I need for my Family, room for all.

gremol on September 1, 2010 at 12:09 pm
    • Don't forget the optional fifth bedroom in the basement. That makes it even better for my family! ^_^

EdinOregon on September 1, 2010 at 12:56 pm
    • Technically the 4th (or listed as 1st) bedroom is listed as a bedroom/loft…if you look it is also the walk-through area- no privacy as a bedroom…for us we would probably use that area as a play area.

  5. This is my analysis of this "zillion blogs blast" that's hit us! I think Poor, Mean, Dream, Green, Urban Mary is ——HAVING THE TIME OF HER LIFE—–watching all of us—-bop about from blog to blog trying to remember which blog we're on—-and where we posted last. LOL

MeKhazSimi on September 1, 2010 at 3:47 pm
    • LOL! I guess Mary has to figure out some way to keep herself entertained — it must be an awesome responsibility keeping all of these blogs going!

CplusE on September 1, 2010 at 4:30 pm
      • CpluE For sure. She's very talented at what she does. I never cease to be amazed at the great group of bloggers on these DH sites. How, "just pleasant", it is to log onto any one of them at any time and simply enjoy what's being posted or adding a thought or two—-and Mary keeps it all coordinated——on her terms of course. ha LOL

MeKhazSimi on September 1, 2010 at 5:22 pm
    • Wow, do you have that right! I truely just posted somewhere and now I'm wondering if it wasn't on the GH blog! Help! My head is spinning.

      moon_lady on September 2, 2010 at 1:11 pm
  6. Hi! Long time no talk!

I was wondering if i were to enter via mail for the DH 2011 (a little off topic i know), what is their 2011 address?
Is it the same as the DH 2010?

For the 2010 it was: HGTV Dream Home Giveaway
PO Box 52628, Knoxville TN, 37950

Will it still be the same for the DH 2011? Or will they change the PO Box? Do any of you know if they changed it from the 2009 to the 2010? Because, if it was the same address for the 2009 and the 2010, maybe it will still be the same for the 2011… Help anyone? :)

cheescakelover on September 1, 2010 at 5:02 pm
    • You are correct, it will probably be the same. Nothing has been said yet. Good Luck

  10. I bet H_S would add his famous, homegrown peppers to ~~

Rather than list all the products we've seen offered in customized form over the years, it's getting to the point now where we might be better off listing the ones we *haven't* seen served up in personalized versions. One example? Beef jerky — until recently, that is. New Jersey-based Slant Shack Jerky is a small, artisan company that hand-crafts beef jerky to suit each individual consumer's tastes.

Available in quantities of a quarter pound, half pound or a full pound even, Slant Shack's jerky offers customers numerous choices. First, for example, is whether to use traditional USDA choice or organic grass-fed beef, which adds an extra charge. Next, buyers must decide whether they'd prefer an original or a “hot & smoky” marinade. From there, it's the rub that must be selected, with four tantalizing options or—alternatively—the “naked” approach. Last but not least, consumers can choose a brown sugar or spicy pepper glaze, or none at all. For those having trouble deciding, there's also an assortment of chef's choices to choose among. Pricing starts at USD 10 per quarter pound. The customization trend is still going strong!

  11. If users of social media are interested in buying notebooks embellished with their online tweets or Facebook feed, doesn't it stand to reason that they'd want a mug featuring the profile pictures of their online friends? California-based CrowdedInk apparently thinks so, for it launched a “Friends” mug in precisely that vein.

CrowdedInk's Friends social mug can be embellished with the customer's friends from either Facebook or Twitter. The ordering process begins when customers sign in to whichever of the two social sites they're interested in. From there, they can select up to 184 friends to go on their mug. They can also choose the mug style, colour and size—ceramic, stainless and glass options are all available—as well as customizing it with the images or text of their choice. Pricing on Zazzle ranges from USD 15 for a simple 11 oz. ceramic mug to USD 23.75 for a 16 oz. frosted glass version.

We're still at the beginning of off=on integration; where else could users' online content become a one-of-a-kind embellishment for real-world goods…?

  13. Thinking of Our Army Family ~~ and how cute her little girls' labels would look.

We've seen myriad tech-enabled lost and found services in recent years, most of them aimed at protecting expensive and hard-to-replace gear. Bringing the concept into a realm where the goods may be less valuable but the losses more frequent, Canadian Oliver's Labels offers labels for kids' items along with an online lost and found.

Toronto-based Oliver's Labels sells a wide variety of name labels in multiple colourful styles, designs, formats and sizes. As an alternative to including personal information like phone numbers or addresses, however, Oliver's gives its customers the free option of printing a 9-digit tracking system code on their labels that links them with the labeled item via the company's “Found-it” system. For customers who choose to include it, the Found-it system allows finders of lost items to go to a special page on the Oliver's website and enter the code printed on the label. Oliver's then matches the code with the owner of the item and sends an email notification to that person, thereby acting as an intermediary between the owner and the finder so personal details need never be shared. A package of 60 Oliver's iron-on clothing labels is priced at USD 19.99.

As anyone who's ever spent any time with children knows, lost items are a recurring fact of life—as is the need to protect personal information. With benefits toward both ends, Oliver's Labels seeks agents to sell its products, which are also available for fundraising purpose.

    • Sorry- I haven't been on here much lately. Not necessarily something that I would buy, but gave me ideas on cute labels to make myself…which we were just talking about labeling stuff too as my toddler might have a few times when she has to go to hourly daycare if I have appointments while my husband is gone.

My first day back and I am confused …. I have always loved being here and have made so many friends!!!! 16. OK, HGTV Dream Home Devotees! Get your typing fingers ready and load up your google maps. For the next HGTV Dream Home giveaway location, I think I've got it! Google: 8501 + E. 33rd Ave. + Denver + CO + 80238 + Stapleton + Infinity Homes + HGTV Dream Home. Am I close? http://denver.bizjournals.com/denver/stories/2010

    Greg5280 on September 2, 2010 at 11:15 am
    • Thanks for the comment on the Green Home address. I'd read the online bizjournals article yesterday, which was interesting for giving us an early notice on the sweeps entry dates.

I'm curious whether the 5280 from your sign-on name comes from the Denver 5280 Magazine, or just an interesting coincidence? I was reading an article from 5280 about the top 10 neighborhoods where home values are holding strong, and Stapleton was one of those mentioned. Good for its homeowners, and good for the eventual lucky winner of the next Green Home.

DBCoop on September 2, 2010 at 12:16 pm
      • I do live in Denver, in Stapleton and five blocks away from the new Dream Home. It's totally exciting for Denver and the neighborhood! It's right across the street from Central Park and there's a huge sled hill – incredibly fun when it's snowing. You can see the old Stapleton International Airport tower from the new HGTV Dream Home! "5280" is a term we use all the time in that Denver is the "Mile High City," and that's 5,280 feet above sea level.

        Greg5280 on September 2, 2010 at 2:27 pm
        • Ah, yes, 5280—that makes sense of course, for the Mile High City, and from which the 5280 Magazine takes it name.

According to Google Earth, the Green Home site is at an elevation of 5,300 feet, which makes it a mile high plus 20, give or take a few feet depending on whether you're hanging out in the basement, first or second floor.

Out of curiosity, since as you point out the old Stapleton Airport Control Tower was left standing on site, can it be accessed, much like old lighthouse towers that are so popular with tourists? Or is it completely closed up and off-limits?

DBCoop on September 2, 2010 at 4:55 pm
  17. Boy, when Renee comes back, she comes back with a bang!!! Renee, maybe those items should
be posted on the Green Home instead of on the Dream Home site. I think many of us are getting
confused with which site we are on. I am sorry that we are not getting any information on this Dream
Home site. The house is probably not finished yet but every day a new update picture here or on
HGTVPro could be posted so as a different gesture we could ride together and just simply watch
it progress. We spent so much time with it already and Green Home starts and comes up with
the same amount of pictures of the time-lapse (almost). Since we do not get the answers from
Mary I would rather just go to the place like we did for GH. Comment?

Logging on these days means attending to blogs, sweeps entries, checking posts, let's see—I think they call this dedication, commitment, addictive behavior——ahhh—-I think I'll call it fun. Just wanted to say hi—I'm off for some R&R for couple of days. Good for the soul. Will miss placing a few sweeps entries—-but–what will be will be—as they say. LOL Hope everyone has a nice week-end.

Good evening to all HGTV Bloggers!

Now, we all remember how Disney/Pixar was a sponsor of the HGTV Dream Home, right? Don’t we all remember how our very clever Interior Designer, Linda Woodrum, decorated the Kids Dream Bedroom in the HGTV Dream 2010? A little Buzz LightYear here, a little Woody from Toy Story there…ahhh…precious!

Well, for those who may have missed this, HGTV has now teamed up with Bed, Bath & Beyond to offer another sweepstakes for all of us to enjoy! It’s a Home Sweet Dorm Sweeps! So, hurry…enter this sweepstakes and you could be the next winner of a $15,000 Shopping Spree AND a Design Consultation with a real live HGTV Designer! Here is the info my friends…

        • You are always so positive, interesting and kind to us!! All is wonderful and we do love Florida! Loving the beach, wonderful breezes and new friends. Luca has surprised us with his "go with the flow" attitude, friend making skills, advancement in school to the gifted program, performing wonderfully with his stage work and being his regular lovebug self!! BIG NEWS …… we just found a house to remodel with our eco-conscious knowledge. It is on the canal…… making Luca's day, as he has become an avid fisher and loves going out on boats. Lynn… I must admit…. this was a smart move, seeming to reenergize the entire family. Recently, I've started to think that maybe it is a great time to start up my organic lunch program here for kids. What is new with you?? You always have great updates. Talk to you soon my friend!!

gremol on September 2, 2010 at 8:54 pm
      • Well, the BB&B near us didn't close down but the Old Navy right next door did close although itmoved not too far away from us. I hope that the BB&B does not close because it is so convenient and I know lots of people who love to use their coupons to go shopping for small appliances, linens, and those, oh so needed, last minute candles everyone needs before the guests arrive.

Wait, is it just me, who loves a low light to hide that I didn't spic and span my floor earlier inthe day? Love candles..they hide a multitude of sins (and dustbunnies), don't they? ;)

        Living the Dream!

LynnCoggin on September 3, 2010 at 11:15 pm
  22. But I'm saying I don't need your "info". Info to me is a discussion of real items, or aspects of the home. Or parts of our personal lives we care to post.

If I felt I was an expert and had info to share I would set up a separate blog of my own and post a link! (And yes I am an expert in some areas and have done that.)

    • It is wonderful that we live in a free Country, full of amazing opinions. Thanks for sharing and please do not let my comments offend you, but many have asked me to share for several years here… I have so many wonderful blogging buddies here and we are so different but, we all understand that the world is made up of many different characters, without one being in the right or better than the other.
