  1. Where's Coop when he is needed. "Mean Mary" is at it again. Here is her first clue for next years Green Home!

EdinOregon on August 25, 2010 at 1:13 pm
    • Are you sure you don't mean "Proud Mary"? ;)

I'm still waiting for our "Proud Mary" premiere!

      Living the Dream!

LynnCoggin on August 26, 2010 at 9:28 pm
      • You know I have been saying "Mean Mary" from day one Lynn. You'll have to talk to Lessie about the Proud Mary Premier. I think she was going to be Tina if she won the 2010 Dream Home. I don't remember which other bloggers were going to join her in the show though. I know I would have been in the audience! ^_^

  2. Okay, instantly I begin thinking that the leaves or "leaf" is a clue. Let the craziness begin!

    • Where have you been dolly, it's sooo good to see you?

Janzee on August 25, 2010 at 3:44 pm
      • Hi Janzee, A whirlwind of activity around here. Trip to Boston and upstate NY for college visits, getting kids ready for school, knee surgery, house cleaning…

I have missed everyone but needed to prioritize my time. Hope you are doing well. What has happened with your writing?

Looks like I made it back just in time for the Green Home location clues. I am looking forward to the same fun and adventures we had with the Dream Home clues. Hugs!

        • Hi booms, the summer has been very similar and we are also looking at colleges on our end.. We missed you too and look forward to the fall Chag Simach!! I hope and pray that you have a Refua Shelema and a speedy recovery. My writing has been slowly moving along in the write direction. I've entered four contests and made it to the quarter finals in the Scriptapalooza I was talking about. I believe very strongly in changing a direction for family entertainment films, have met some wonderful producers and directors who would produce with me for the right price.

Janzee on August 27, 2010 at 1:37 am
    • booms with the religious connotation for adding the fig leaf to cover people's embarrassment about the human body, the interesting thing is that the leaf over time got bigger and bigger. Were we as a society becoming more contentious?

Janzee on August 26, 2010 at 6:49 pm
    • Maybe she just wanted us to LEAF here and go over there (haha)

  3. Hi everybloggie,

    Well, Mary
l…I'll try to tear myself away from the Dream Home site….( sound of velcro ripping…Crrkkkh ) lol.
If anyone feels rather peckish before departing for the Green Home site, pop in to Ben and Jerry's in Vermont, and tuck in to their signature dish special: " The VerMONSTER" :O) A veritable bucket o' ice cream ( 20 scoops), four bananas, four cookies, marshmallows, whipped cream, 4 ladles full of hot fudge sauce and sprinkles on top…only 14,000 calories !! A whopping bargain for just under $38.00. Tax is extra, as is the quadruple bypass :O) lol.

GoldieLocksBear on August 25, 2010 at 1:45 pm
    • Sounds delicious GoldieLocksBear. The Dream Home winner should love the VerMONSTER!

Lessie on August 25, 2010 at 6:36 pm
  4. And speaking of coffee this is fun to watch before stuffing yourself with the VerMONSTER then heading to the hospital! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nnS1KfP12WM

alicesoneysmom on August 25, 2010 at 2:31 pm
    • Too funny, alicesoneysmom. Don't have a coffee addiction. Between coffee and the VerMONSTER, there's not much hope. I guess there's no hope for a coffee, VerMONSTER, and chocolate lover.

Lessie on August 25, 2010 at 6:42 pm
    • love that thanks!!i love coffee too.

  6. I guess this is our "heads up", super sleuths nimble up those fingers! Wikipedia is about to become more busy! Ah, but we do so love a mystery, and welcome all the activity fall is bringing.
I'm hoping Jack expands his horizons, and leaves the North East area.

AnneEliseSouth on August 25, 2010 at 3:19 pm
    • And where would you want him to go AnneEliseSouth?

Lessie on August 25, 2010 at 6:44 pm
      • Hi Lessie, I really don't have a strong preference. Somewhere with a large gardenable yard, and not too much traffic where the climate is somewhat moderate.

AnneEliseSouth on August 26, 2010 at 6:25 pm
  7. Hello Mary dolly,

"Train up a fig-tree in the way it should go, and when you are old sit under the shade of it". Charles Dickens
I feel like the kid with a mouth full of Fig Newtons enjoying a balmy summer day. Ah the sweet taste of summer, irredescent leaves that glow radiant on a afternoon in California, strolling with my blog friends and thinkin that any of those wild figs, growing along the side streets, are ripe with purple plumpness just for the picking. Anticipation, is what we thrive on here at the ranch, and that there photo you have is a fig tree, and there are a few areas of the country where the fig is prolific- I've lived in a few like South Florida, California and Arizona. By the way, the fig is not a tree at all, it's a gourd. Home, and a hiding place to its flowers it's filled with the edible seeds that give dried figs their nutty flavor. Great photo, good work, and keep those cards and letters coming in!!!!

Janzee on August 25, 2010 at 4:02 pm
    • It's fig season here in Georgia right now — I just love figs! We have a fig tree in our backyard but the squirrels and crows beat me to the fruit! Luckily we have a new farmer's market and one of the vendors has figs every week — heaven!

CplusE on August 25, 2010 at 4:27 pm
      • There is a cool screening you can get at Home Depot which will cover the tree and at least make it harder for the birds to dive bomb the tree. I have found myself with a yen for a fig going outside in the middle of the night, working my hands under the screen for a ripe fig.

Janzee on August 25, 2010 at 7:28 pm
    • Thank you Janzee, I thought I had seen the leaf before. Yum, I wish I had a fig now. Let the eating begin!

boomer on August 26, 2010 at 11:51 am
    • Fig leaves…why was fig leaf used to visually censor Renaissance art? Any ideas?

boomer on August 26, 2010 at 12:01 pm
      • A fig leaf is the covering up of an act or an object that is embarrassing or disagreeable. The term is a metaphorical reference to the Biblical Book of Genesis, in which Adam and Eve used fig leaves to cover "their nakedness" after eating the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. Does that work Boomer? ^_^

EdinOregon on August 26, 2010 at 4:48 pm
      • The the fig leaf has a story behind it as it applies to the David by Michael Angelo who completed his Renaissance work in 1504. A stone cast of Michelangelo’s David was taken from the original marble figure, and offered to the fledgling Museum at South Kensington, delivered on February 1857. The massive cast – six metres in height – was a gift presented to Queen Victoria by the Grand Duke of Tuscany. The queen however. had no prior notice of this large and somewhat unwieldy gift, and did not wish to house it. The story goes that the Queen was a little freaked by the cast of David at the Museum, so she commissioned a proportionally accurate fig leaf to be kept in readiness for any royal visits, when it was hung on the figure using two strategically placed hooks. In a photograph of the Art Museum taken around 1857-9 the figure of David is shown wearing a fig leaf. The fig leaf is likely to have been made by the Anglo-Italian firm D. Brucciani & Co., based in London.

Janzee on August 26, 2010 at 6:15 pm
  8. I prefer the white figs over the purple ones. There used to be acres and acres of fig trees in the Fresno Area. My brother in law burned fig wood in his wood stove for over 10 years from the free wood he collected when they tore out a lot of the orchards. Too bad "Mean Mary" didn't say that the picture was a clue. I would have guessed CA if she did.

EdinOregon on August 25, 2010 at 4:55 pm
    • I'll eat any figs I can get, as long as they are fresh — don't care much for the dried ones!

Anyway, I hope all is well with you and I think of you often. :)

      • This area has changed so much from the time I moved here. My friends who are native to the area have very interesting stories about growing up here. Maryland, as well as the surrounding states, is loaded with history.

Know that you're thought about often. Hope we get to meet face-to-face one day.

Lessie on September 3, 2010 at 6:51 pm
        • Lessie!!!!! So happy to hear from you my friend! My how time flies!

Agreed…Maryland is a great state as well as the surrounding states. Our children have been to camp in Maryland since my oldest (who is now 26) was in second grade. It is a sailing camp which is very beautiful. We have often thought about moving to Maryland…there are so many lovely areas. But, Baltimore, is amazing to me. I grew up in Pennsylvania and went to college in North Carolina so traveling through Baltimore, down good old Interstate 95, over the years sure has been an eyeopener. Baltimore has made an unbelievable transformation over the years. We have also sailed around the Chesapeake Bay…ahhh…a little slice of heaven for sure!

I would love to meet. I'm not too far so I could come down and would love to take you to lunch someday. Here's to meeting up with you in the future. Wouldn't it be perfect to have an HGTV Fan travel around and meet up with all of the bloggers and report back about what a great blogging crew we are?

In closing, I hope you are doing more than well and I think of you and your beautiful mind often! :)

Does that mean I'm getting old?! If so, no problem. With age comes wisdom, knowledge, freedom, aches, pains…..Oh well, can't have everything!

  10. One little clue…….

OmahaLady on August 25, 2010 at 7:12 pm
  11. The little twig is a good sign as first clue. Upon entering a friends house, for a the first time, you would bring fruit or a bowl filled with something sweet. The gifts from Mother Nature herself, are valuable, not only because they are capable of bringing us mouthwatering nourishment to our bodies, but also because they impart lasting wonder and importance of nature's beauty and magic.

"The gracious, eternal God permits the spirit to green and bloom and to bring forth the most marvelous fruit, surpassing anything a tongue can express and a heart conceive." ~ Johannes Tauler

Janzee on August 25, 2010 at 7:41 pm
  12. MARY…just when I think you can't make it more fun for us…POOF! You did it! Love these clues…thank you! You're the best!

Onward and upward my friends…ready, set, go!

  13. Is Mary in announcements our Mary or are they two separate people. At one point I thought I saw
two or three seperate Marys listed. I cannot handle a new clue now from the GH while I am concen-
trating ond the DH. Why are they deliberately trying to mix us up. I agree that it looks like a fig leaf
on our picture . The leaf on GH is definitly not a fig leaf so I really do not get what the clue is. It is
for the GH home right? I like dried figs best, the light brown ones and have two every day for well
    just think why…….. helps me!!!!!!B)

    • Sandy you forgot "Mean Mary's" rule from last year. If a picture is a clue she will tell us it is a clue. The only clue so far is that the next Green Home is West of Plymouth. I wouldn't spend too much time concentrating on the Green Home Location yet. ^_^

EdinOregon on August 26, 2010 at 2:01 am
      • I remember! I got out my map, opened to Plymouth, and then looked west!! Directly west I think
I saw Ed and all my cousins in Portland and Washington as well. A little too close. Ohhhhh – I
get it, we are going back to Montana, Kansas, Oklahoma, NEW MEXICO Oh my. Yes, another
house near Sante Fe or San Antonio !!!!!! Great . Ed says stop thinking about it. [Ed ... I have

how this could be a three story home. It is so high. #25 is a showing of my new bedroom!

Well now this group is listening to us all the way #2 water heated floors are in. I love the way the
photographer takes pictures showing the whole scape and then does many close-ups. I love
close-ups (maybe not armpits) but the artistry and color are "picture" perfect . lovely enough to be
framed and put on a wall – Linda (idea) The kitchenette is almost done!!! potlights! like it!

  19. Hello everybloggie,

The new photos of the Dream Home are magnificent, such commanding views of the scenery and the photographer is amazing, he even makes the fanned-out wiring / piping look artistic ! I wonder who shoots the stills camera work? The builders are climbing about on that high roofline with ease…I would be a quivering " white-knuckle job" if I were up there, lol. Plus the view is dynamic, I'd get nothing done except for clinging to a beam and just gazing at the view . I'm in love. lol.
And look at all that ravishing radiant heating !!!

  23. Wow- things are definitely interesting around HGTV these days. I am trying to follow things, but am still getting ready for my husband's deployment. I decided that if we are staying here then I am painting the living room/dining room area before he goes. I brought home a bazillion paint samples of various colors that matched a multi-colored place-mat. I was shocked that my husband's top choices were the chartreuse and melancholy purple despite me offering more neutral colors.

Our Army Family on August 26, 2010 at 7:57 pm
    • Hi there Our Army Family! I have really enjoyed your posts over the past couple of years. Thank you for being such a faithful blogger! I feel as though I know your family…ummm…I mean your Army Family!

So, maybe we can all help. Afterall, we are HGTV super fans and I think by now (since we all are avid HGTV watchers), we may be able to offer some assistance with colors. Paint colors are one of my favorite hobbies!

So, what color is in you multi-colored placemats? I have a list of some of my favorite colors I'd be happy to send your way. As I am sure you (and your hubby) are more than capable of choosing your very own special colors, some other ideas may not hurt, right?

Louisiana, California, Georgia, Oregon, Texas, South Carolina, and Washington in the United States, south-western British Columbia in Canada,

Nuevo León and Coahuila in northeastern Mexico, as well as Australia, Chile, and South Africa.

    • Since you are a fan, you'll love this. Go to the main page, and put in Linda Woodrum. All of the recent articles, including interviews with SuperFan Gail will come up. The design "wish list" spot is number thirteen. You'll have so much fun, recognizing all of the episodes and interviews previously seen. But beware, you will get more hungry than a Vermont sundae.

Janzee on August 28, 2010 at 1:13 am
  34. Hi everybloggie,

Oh, I do hope Linda Woodrum won't be too busy remodelling her own kitchen, that she won't be able to work her magic on the Dream Home ski lodge. I am waiting with bated breath to see what she has in store for us !!! I love to entertain, and always struggle with fridge space, it would be great to have a wall of refrigerators, ( one for family and one for dinner parties ) I like the idea of those new under counter drawers, so you can keep sandwich fixings chilled, and fruits and veggies crisp and fresh :O) My dream kitchen would have a dishwasher for big loads, and then the two drawer dishwasher for small loads, glasses, coffee cups and so forth. Two sinks would be great, but I wouldn't hanker for a wet bar, I'd much prefer a coffee station :O)
Dreaming is kinda cool, isn't it ? And although it's heartbreaking when you don't get selected as the winner, it's always exciting to see who wins !!

    Happy Blogging and Dreaming !

    • Geez Whiz, that's some very big entertaining you have in mind there kid. You'll have plenty of room in the Stowe DH.

    • Goldie: Oh, sweetie, you don't get selected. It's the luck of the draw. Like the lottery. But the more you enter, the better chance you have. See the rules. Good luck to you.

  36. Good morning and a very happy weekend to everyone on the Blog. Cannot say which one because
you have a choice of which one you want to be on. It is always feast or famine at HGTV Homes. We
have been witnessing a bout of feasting our eyes and having gormet thoughts bounding this way
    and that.

It has gotten downright comfortable here. On Thursday it was 107 degrees and today it is in the 70s.
If anyone noted, at the same time we had heat, fire, thundershowers, hail, floods, and mudslides.
It all depended on which corner you were standing. Very unusual weather for us.. Coop and Gerry
or Gerri, did you guys get any of the rain and comotion? Always make sure your homes are
covered – is ours? slide insurance? water leaks etc.

    • SandyLA, I hope that everything is back to normal for you guys, and that everyone os safe and sound. Scroll down and look at Kattiediddle's comment.

  37. SandyLA: Hope everyone answers that they are OK. Unusual weather all over the world. Is the universe trying to tell us something? Have we abused the earth beyond repair?

Katydiddle on August 28, 2010 at 9:36 pm
    • A very unusual weather report came across the screen in dry Las Vegas last night. There was a severe storm watch with dangerous hail, and lightning, high winds up to seventy miles an hour. Since the storm was on the other side of the city, I went outside to listen to the quiet before the storm. There was an electrical charge in the air, only comprable to what I experienced before the announcement of the HGTV DH winner last year.

Janzee on August 29, 2010 at 12:26 am
      • I felt the same electrical charge as well, Janzee…and then that HGTV Dream Team lightning bolt Jamie Durie struck in New Orleans instead of Las Vegas, at the home of Dr. Myra Lewis.

Well, maybe this year, since they say lightning doesn't strike twice in the same spot…does it?

DBCoop on August 29, 2010 at 12:05 pm
        • I don't know about that old adage Coop. The Empire State Building has been hit by lightning hundreds of times. There are people who have been hit by lightning more than once!

EdinOregon on August 29, 2010 at 6:25 pm
          • I agree, Ed. Those 'they' people 'they're' always referring to seem to get it wrong more often than not. Suppose they've been struck by lightning one time too many.

DBCoop on August 29, 2010 at 7:21 pm
          • I have to agree with you on that one Coop. If I ever figure out who they are I will let you know. They kind of remind me of an engineer I once know who used to make a lot of presentations. He said that 78% of statistical proof is made up on the spot. I asked where he read that and he said he just made it up! I think he probably knew who they are.

EdinOregon on August 29, 2010 at 9:27 pm
        • I am sending out an S.O.S., and doing a rain dance or something akin to an HGTV dance for good news for one of us this year for the winning of one of the homes. I feel it in the air waves

Janzee on August 29, 2010 at 9:56 pm
        • They say that you can actually create an electical electrical charge with thought process. Various studies are widely known about mind and matter and it's association with electrical energy. So maybe we should all pick a time, and concentrate that the winner of the UO, DH, GH, DIYBlog Cabin comes from this gaggle of bloggers. The only thing we'd be concerned about is overloading the HGTV system, and I wouldn't want to do that, as I need to be on the blog every day. P.S. Coopy, how are you feeling, better I hope. I am going to research a little on your honey bee status, and see what I can find about the skeeders.

          • Hello everybloggie,

Hope you're all charged up !! The only thing I could manage to do as a kid, was rub a balloon on my sweater and stick the balloon to the wall :O) heheh. Maybe if I concentrate really hard, I could stick the " HGTV Winner's" balloons to the ski lodge wall ! hehehe :O)
I hope I get delivery of those balloons !!! Who will be holding the strings for 2011 ? It's the vacation location of my dreams !
            Have a wonderful week !

      • Talking about high winds…I know that Las Vegas can get hit with some seriously strong winds. As a teenager, I recall visiting friends there, and being caught outside during a sandstorm that kicked up quite suddenly. It really stings when it hits the skin, and needless to say, you can hardly see a foot in front of you. Even with your house closed up tight, It gets into everything. Thankfully, sandstorms that severe don't happen very often in Las Vegas.

Let's see, where were we? Oh yeah, talking about sand bunkers on the golf course and finding our way through the thick forest pines and into the beauty and light of a scenic alpine meadow. Somehow I have a feeling there's a Green Home waiting for us in there somewhere!

DBCoop on August 29, 2010 at 1:29 pm
        • With a backpack, plenty of maple syrup and pancake mix, a star to steer us by, we'll wade through the sand traps, and see the Green Home, DH, or Urban Oasis and chart our course straight ahead, maybe we'll be able to play a round of golf on the way.

Janzee on August 29, 2010 at 5:36 pm
        • Coop: Did you feel like Lawrence of/in Arabia? Did you wish you were a camel with long eyelashes? What an exciting experience for a teenager. Golf sand traps are boring in comparison.
Your Green Home crystal ball did pretty well. Thick forest pines, yep. Scenic alpine meadows, yep. But you forgot the snow. Oh, heck, when is the DH, GH, UO, BC going to be built somewhere without snow? Like next to you. How strange would it be to have one of us bloggers step out and say Hi?

    • Could be just one of the cycles of our Solar System, our Galaxy, our Universe, and Whatever…………. that's been going on for at least Billions of Billions of years! Nothing we can do about it…. but maybe we could try to protect our Earth inhabitants with smart decisions. If it is going to get too hot, maybe we could move people, plants, and animals to cooler places on Earth, where we could survive there. (on ships & subs?, closer to the Poles? , high 'n dry cave communities?, etc. )
Hope it doesn't come too fast! We are so vulnerable as our magnetic fields are fluxuating before the magnetic pole flip-a-roos. The floor of the Atlantic Ocean shows it has happened many times before.

          • I saw the dolpin stampede some time ago, and it's amazing. I actually think it has something to do with college football and the retirement of Bobby Bowden LOL. That's a salt of the earth guy I would love to see continue as a couch for FSU. All kidding aside, I think that there is a way to encourage and lure bees back to communities and think so much of it has to do with the deliterious sprays that have been used since the fifties. I am thinking that at some point in time, I would love to find that piece of prop I've been talking about and set up a few hives, and set up bat boxes for those wonderful critters. I love it when you feed us with this information Stone, we are all hungry for eco knowledge

Janzee on August 29, 2010 at 5:50 pm
          • I don't know about the birds and the bees, Janzee, but I'm a mosquito magnet for sure. Too bad we can't figure out how to get rid of all the nagging, grating, buzzing, blood-sucking nabobs and bring back the birds and the bees, and the flowers and the trees….

Life would naturally be so much more serene, with a lot more smiles to go around.

DBCoop on August 29, 2010 at 7:36 pm
          • My metaphysical friends say that you have to love the mosquitos and send them a message that there is a watering hole a few miles down the road, nowhere within a stones throw to you, our sweet Coop. I'm going to check into a sure fire homepathic, that will keep those little scalliwags far away.

Janzee on August 29, 2010 at 10:23 pm
          • I try to be metaphysical with mosquitoes, Janzee. If I see or hear one in my vicinity, I give it a high five, between the palms of both hands.

However, I'm willing to try some of your recommendations, except for any sprays or lotions along the lines of eau de garlique.

DBCoop on August 29, 2010 at 11:26 pm
          • Yuk yuk yuk, hilarious. Coop as long as you aren't shaking hands, a high five sounds like you're getting the job done. A well educated mosquito could respond to high pitches, in which case you could yodle them away, scream, or hypnotize them with your charm. I know that Sullivan County has some of the buggies, but I wonder if they are knee deep in Stowe. I suspect that in the winner's circle you would be fanned, powdered, and surrounded by repellents for the asking.

Janzee on August 29, 2010 at 11:51 pm
          • That works for me Janice. I am never bothered by mosquitos. I always send them a message that the person nearest me has much tastier blood! ^_^

Janzee on August 30, 2010 at 2:23 am
          • I guess one has to be a teen to appreciate that book. I haven't been a teen in many decades. I don't care what they read as long as it encourages them to read and it isn't in bad taste. We make a weekly trip to the library and they leave with a bag full of books each time.

EdinOregon on August 30, 2010 at 2:31 am
          • I've said this before that I think you would make a wonderful neighbor. Inspiring children through literature offers its weight in gold in years to come. It must be quite a site to see all your kids coming home swinging their book bags. Your house must get pretty interesting with all of the discussions and talk of adventure.

          • I have been a library addict since I was in kindergarten. My parents had to sign a special paper at the library back then that would let me check out adult books. I have tried to pass on my love of reading to my children and younger siblings. I remember teaching my sister algebra when she was 7. It's never very quiet around here but it is usually a lot of fun.

          • It was suggested a zillion years ago to give my youngest son a vitamin B-12 or Vitamin B-complex once a day—–to keep mosquitos from biting—(they loved him)—–It worked. Therefore I too use this tactic——works for me. This is just suggestion.

MeKhazSimi on August 31, 2010 at 1:35 pm
          • Hi MeKazSimi, funny you should mention B-12 because I used to give my little dog who had bad allergies a shot of it each week. It did help along with her allergy shots. It always amazes me the things we do for humans that also work on our four legged friends. My other little dog got Alzheimers (so they told me) so I gave her some of that medicine and it was the difference between her going in circles, to moving around more in a straight line … just amazing. She was 18 so I did not use the medicine too long though because she was ready to go to Heaven. I was just trying to hold on a little longer :) .

Janzee on August 30, 2010 at 1:59 am

You could probably teach us all a thing or two about hunting, fishing, camping… and hold the phone, I think I am getting a call from Cartier in NY, and the salesperson is telling me, that there is a diamond tennis braclet waiting for your wife. She'll have to navigate the streets of NY for us

Janzee on August 30, 2010 at 2:27 am
          • Are you saying that all fishermen tell tall tales. I use fish bigger than trout for bait! ^_^

EdinOregon on August 30, 2010 at 2:33 am
          • I think a tall tale is simply an inconsistency in a measuring device. No yardstick to measure a fish. Well it's sooooo big, seems to get bigger, every time you show and tale. Georgie, I am going to sleep to dream about catching a big fish. Actually I wrote a children's book called A Very Fishy Story- it had to do with tall tales.

CplusE on August 30, 2010 at 8:36 am
          • That's pretty neat. I have caught Blue Sharks, Mako Sharks, Salmon Sharks and Thresher Sharks, but I have never caught a Tiger Shark. Sharks can really put up a fantastic fight. Plus the Salmon, Mako and Thresher bar b que real well! ^_^

EdinOregon on August 30, 2010 at 5:39 pm
          • My shark was quite delicious! He wasn't very big as far as tiger sharks go, but there was still plenty to share. And considering that I did everything wrong when it came to reeling him in, I have to say my shark seemed very determined to be caught!

CplusE on August 30, 2010 at 6:25 pm

          • Wow that would scare the livin daylights outame, and I don't scare easily. Something about sharks with teeth-yikes!!! I was snorkling in the Keys once, and swam with a whole school of huge Pampanos. The sunrays made them appear iridescent in the light, and one of the ones lagging behind gave me a look as if to say "school's out", it was an intense fish look that suggested scramo.

I've followed climate charts for quite a number of years seeing the same weather patterns, and you're right dramatic changes have occured since before recorded history. Years ago, when I lived in Tucson, I was fascinated with the idea of buying land, that had a deep underground cave where the temperature never fluctuated and there was a steady trickle of the best and cleanest underground water. I think that HGTV has found some of the best environments especially the DIY Blog Cabin for weather that has remained constant over the years.

But don't put away your hat and gloves just yet.

It'll still be colder than normal for much of the country, the almanac says, and New England will get a "cold slap in the face" after missing last winter's misery. Finally, residents of the upper Midwest and Great Lakes are expected to get the piles of snow that'll be lacking elsewhere.

      • Hi Alice and Soney The girls and I were thinking about all that "snow" hovering over the future DH and GH sites. Thought Sonie might want to check out this site for his next ski trip to Stowe. http://www.baxterboo.com/dogs.cfm/dog-jackets?gcl
        Hugs and LOL
PS: Tell Soney he's hired—that's my kind of secretary!!!!!

  45. I am just stunned we already have floor plans! What gives? An early reveal and floor plans, something is a tad odd. Maybe Mary and the crew have finally taken pity on the poor bloggers?

  46. Location wasn't a surprise, but that we got it so quickly after starting clues was!

    • Hi Our Army Family—-In regards to GH location—I was so busy counting pebbles and sand traps on the Southern Oregon beaches I forgot to look up! ha Amazing how many "clue versions" everyone came up with in such a short time. I'm impressed.

  47. Okay- I have been away as we are getting ready for deployment still. The girls and I decided to stay here rather than spend the deployment at Disney…now we have been busy unpacking and reorganizing…a great time to reorganize all of the girls toys, etc…as well as we have been weeding through what things we can get rid of. I did tell my husband that if we were staying here then I was redecorating and making our military housing feel more like a home. We decided on a chartreuse for the living & dining room area…the paint sample looked great in our home, but the lady mixed the paint wrong and our walls look more like a lime green…I keep trying to convince everyone that it will look a lot better with new throw pillows and accessories as I am not repainting–too much work with a toddler. We also did the girls' rooms which turned out great…a pretty pink for the toddler and french purple for my preteen's Eiffel tower/Paris bedroom.

As for happenings around the blogs…I am totally excited to be watching this year's Green Home come together…I LOVE the location and floor plan!

  48. In case anyone missed it…I thought I would be nice and point out that you can enter TWICE a day for the Urban Oasis…once on the HGTV site and once on their Front Door site.

    • It seemed like when the sun finally came out in Portland she disappeared. Maybe she was just hibernating on this site until summer came along! ^_^
