  1. Do you have a "WORD for the day"? or a "QUOTE for the day"?

Go here and see if you can win? http://dictionary.reference.com/backtoschool

    • By the time I took a look the contest was closed, but my favorite quote at the moment (seen on a local billboard) is:

"Where are we going, and why am I in this hand basket?"

  2. I would love to see weekly before and after pictures! I just started working for a home remodeling company in Los Angeles (www.remodelwithus.com) and that is my favorite thing to do…post the before & after pictures! :)

  3. So wondering if we get a new section tomorrow- with new time lapse photos to comment on!

Okay I know Coop and I also wanted two new housing sweeps from HGTV, DIY (or Fine Living/Travel/Food/GAC) per year- "Sea Side Cottage" or "Island Oasis" (the names I gave our beach front idea) or "Stack em Up" or 'Room in a Box" (the names I gave the modular home idea). Maybe they will announce they are going to grant our wish and Coop and I can be honorary Project Managers!

Blog Cabin I want to know where in VA the development is! It says not far from Williamsburg and DC- but those two are hours apart!

OmahaLady on September 30, 2010 at 7:03 pm
    • Someone said it was in Susan Virginia.

Cami on September 30, 2010 at 9:43 pm
      • Yes, Susan, VA it is. You can find that little but important piece of info at the end of the second DIY location reveal video. However, it only appears for a brief moment at the end of that second video as a short caption at the bottom of the video field.

  4. They completely leveled the hillside where the camera used to sit in preparation for something — I wonder if it is just for landscaping or if they have another surprise in store for us!

  5. PHOTO #21 – The light is on in the car barn and it shows a ladder (or maybe a pull-down ladder?) going "UP" to somewhere!

PHOTO #22 – The man with the cooler is wearing a jacket. You can see a tree behind the Dream Home turning yellow. So the Fall weather is getting colder up there! Nice to see the workers on a lunch coffee break! OR ARE THEY CELEBRATING GETTING A "TREEHOUSE" DONE? I can only wish!

  6. Hi Gail it is Soney and me again. Holloween will be here soon. One question. Is there an iceskating rink close to Stowe so Soney and I could go to some of these shows? We love to watch them iceskate! http://figureskating.about.com/od/figureskatingsh

  7. This song has been sung many times here in DH land but we wanted to repeat it one more time while we are waiting for Gail. This one is sung by Margaret Whiting the first person to record it in the 40s. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GSpjrNL-AfU

  8. Speaking of Lindor Lindt Truffles think that was you Cami. Soney and I think this is funny! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bBstS_wZGJ0&fe

    • Alice, your "Candyman" link from the other day has me obsessed with chocolate now! This link is great:

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fszIxCz7bHw

I especially like the one where Lisa tries to teach Bart about math (I like his version)!

CplusE on September 30, 2010 at 10:07 pm
  9. Okay, all of you ladies out there who love Lindt Lindor Truffles — this is for you:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NChuiwwpr6Q

So if Lindt is a sponsor again this year, who could possibly star in a similar commercial for the Stowe Dream Home? Did someone say Jack T.? LOL! What do you think, ladies?

CplusE on September 30, 2010 at 9:25 pm
    • I've seen that commercial a few times. It is so me. My husband says they want to search him for more chocolate. I'm not so sure, I think they have other ideas on their mind. Women know Truffles against a body would be all melted and not quite as good. ; )

Hey if those Lindor Lindt truffles are cheaper in Swiss land, I may go and smuggle a few giant suitcases myself.

Cami on September 30, 2010 at 9:38 pm
      • Hi Cami! For some reason this ad made me think of you:

        http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ItLB0KcW38

        Hope your stash is safe!

CplusE on September 30, 2010 at 9:58 pm
        • Yep I've seen that commercial too. My kids are sure to leave no cupboard unopened and no drawers searched incompletely, and no bag of peas or corn in the freezer unturned. They usually leave bags or wrappers alone though- that are not opened, so we are safe for the moment.

Cami on October 1, 2010 at 12:00 am
    • Hi C&E we both must be thinking of Lindt Lindor Truffles at the same time. How funny just saw your post. How is Diamond doing? Soney and I are doing pretty good. He is now going to be trained as a service dog. He is one smart dog. Have been meaning to touch bases with you but have been so busy trying to fix up our home and training Soney. Hope Diamond is o.k. Talk to you soon.

alicesoneysmom on September 30, 2010 at 10:14 pm
      • LOL! Great minds do think alike! Or is it, great minds always crave chocolate? I'd say both! Diamond is doing really well, even though the leg brace I ordered still has not arrived. As long as I keep her from climbing stairs, jumping on couches, or roughhousing with her sisters her leg seems stable enough and does not seem to hurt. She goes in for another vet recheck on Tuesday for her renal values. I am really impressed that Soney is going to be a service dog — not all dogs have the aptitude, so he really must be special!

CplusE on September 30, 2010 at 10:33 pm
    • I'm so ashamed to say I had my daughter make another run for chocolate. This time she brought home a giant bar of Symphony. Kisses- Meltaways. And Lindor Lindt Truffles. Quite an assortment. My husband and I just got done with a 2 week or 3 week mini home remodel and felt like we needed a reward. We've been working so hard, we both lost a little weight. Why do we reward ourselves with calories that'll just put it back on. I don't know, but we didn't eat it all in one sitting we stashed most of it.

Cami on September 30, 2010 at 11:54 pm
    • I prefer those Wurther caramels-

OmahaLady on October 1, 2010 at 11:18 am
  10. In these photos, the high roof windows above the mudroom/kitchen area look so much higher than the floor of the SUSPECTED car barn loft room. Hmmmm
These sure are tall ceiling heights.

  11. Someone before suggested a private lift… but I think that's a little too out-of-reach :-/

The emphasis that was given earlier is that this road has been annexed by the Spruce Peak development as per plans to make an avenue of luxury homes, this one being the first, so the road is 'under construction' during the building of the DH and will likely end up paved. I wouldn't count on anything across the road belonging particularly to the future residents. (Also, drat! I was kind-of hoping it would be a bit on the secluded side in it's own little nook there!)

However, I do recall reading somewhere that it's planned as a ski-in, ski-out location, (sounding much like the design in the neighborhood of the Colorado 2007 DH) so it's possible the construction around the camera's previous location was part of trail-building towards that end.

In regards to the road in the picture you mentioned, the lodge/condos over there are the center of the current Spruce Peak community, made up of seasonal condos and timeshares, and a few sprinkled permanent residencies. You can get a good view of these on Spruce Peak's website: http://www.sprucepeak.com/

  12. I love autumn – it is my favorite season! And what better place to enjoy this leafy time of year than in Stowe, Vermont? Check out this link:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vw_Z-6LEa1Y

I love the photography tips, as well as the lovely foliage and scenery views! Wyo_Girl, if you check in on the blog from Stowe, be sure to watch this and take lots of pretty pictures for us!

  13. I am so behind, that I couldn't possibly have a question at this time…… I just love to hear from Gail, as her enthusiasm is never lacking!!

  14. If they don't get the landscaping done this month – it won't be done. I heard that they have a 10/30 0r 11/30 deadline to have the home finished enough for the designer to get to work installing everything!

OmahaLady on October 1, 2010 at 11:16 am
    • Actually Charlotte the article/video said the furniture arrives on October 16th!

EdinOregon on October 1, 2010 at 7:04 pm
      • WOW, thats only 10 days away! They must have all the outside and inside messy work all done then.

        COMING SOON ——- Funiture!!

RJMstone on October 6, 2010 at 7:23 am
  15. One thing Gail could find would be the gondola. How close is it to the Dream Home? Can ski to it and have it drop us back off close to home. (Here I am thinking I am going to ski again. That is so not going to happen. ) We had just sold our time share when the 2007 DH was being built a few blocks from us. It was intriguing to think about going back to Winter Park.

  16. I'm just going to talk Turkey for a moment, while we await news from our Super Fan on assignment in Stowe. All this traveling by various bloggers reminds me that when I mentioned my upcoming trip to Turkey, several friends were curious about my choice. Perhaps even skeptical. Having visited there briefly only once years ago, I even had some doubts myself.

"I know what you're thinking," I'd tell them. "You wonder why I chose Turkey out of all the countries in the world."

My answer, more so now than before is: "I can assure you that if you knew it like I do, it could change your point of view." Furthermore, I'd reminisce about my wonderful adventures and ask "how can I speak of its virtues? I don't know where to begin. For if you could see Turkey through my eyes, you wouldn't wonder at all."

So to conclude, I can truly say that "if you saw it with your eyes, I guarantee you would fall…like I did!" Really, to enjoy the magic and wonder of Turkey, it needn't be midnight at the oasis.

DBCoop on October 1, 2010 at 12:48 pm
    • Don't worry; you are in good company. Martha Stewart visited Turkey w/ her crew, and devoted a whole episode to show the films taken there. She did go to open air markets and to restaurants, but also took a boat ride on the river. A lot of architecture was featured; she went into mosques and did a tour of the astonishing Haga Sofia (i'm shaky on the spelling…) I love the history and Islamic artwork.
With her clout, there will be lots of interest sparked in Turkey and no one would be wondering why you chose Turkey but rather wonder how soon can they visit there…..
