HGTV Dream Home 2011 Tournament of Roses® Parade Float
HGTV will join this year’s list of participants in the 122nd Tournament of Roses Parade with its own float, a replica of HGTV Dream Home 2011. The completed float will make its debut during HGTV’s live, commercial-free coverage of the parade on Saturday, January 1, 2011, at 11 a.m. ET/8 a.m. PT. In addition, HGTV will air a half-hour special, The Building of the HGTV Dream Home Float, immediately preceding the parade.
The float reflects the rustic appeal of HGTV Dream Home 2011 and features Stowe-area attractions including rolling hills, winding roads and ski slopes punctuated by snow-tipped evergreens. Vibrant autumn leaves and a real water stream for fishing and canoeing also are included on the spectacular float.
Stay tuned: We will be posting a rendering of the float in the next few days!

Speaking of Stowe and snow Soney and I just couldn't resist sharing this with you! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AUtPKbMwnRo&fe…
Hi Alice and Soney, This is so great. I'm sure Soney is like a little kid at Christmas also.
My party-mix Cocker Spaniel,(Bernie) so loved all the presents. I could count on at least one being opened by morning—from the day the presents arrived under it. . Finally I got smart—–I began wrapping up a dog bone each night and he seemed to be content with that idea—and for the most part he slept under the tree. He use to do the same thing when I arrived home from a trip—-I got a quick kiss—and then he went crazy with the suitcases until I retrieved the "present" he always knew was hiding in them. He was an adorable case.
Today—Khazzie is the one I have to keep an eye on. She thinks everything that looks like "bling" is hers for the taking. LOL
I've been thinking about the parade and the float and Vermont and our lengthy toil over the Dream Home clues this year, and I got to thinking….It just wouldn't seem right if they didn't have a holstein heifer on the float. After all the Heifers from Vermont really know how to strut their stuff… Remember????
http://www.strollingoftheheifers.com/v2/index.php…
Just to give Mary proper credit for her clues, there should probably be a jar of honey, a few random numbers, a compass that doesn't work, and a few other odds and ends that I can't remember…. What else was there in the Dream Home clues??? Ahhh the wrong way sign… I guess if someone was eating a bowl of rice with chopsticks, that might look a little odd.
Oh Cams that's a funny. You funny girl, that would sure keep the gang on their toes. I especially liked the Holstein idea, or at least a versimilitude of the cow. How bout a Ben and Jerry table, with a little "model" kid circling around, with a cone double decker scoops?
Vote for the next DH to be in Seattle on the beach! http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=GeorgeBuford#…
Funny Alice.. Being from WA, I get some of the story that might be behind that video, but I suppose not remembering or knowing some of the initiative history in WA.. … I think I'm missing the funniest part. I know who Tim Eyman is, but not Steve. My guess is someone got rich bought a house on the beach, because of extreme work toward initiative passing.
Seattle would be a wonderful location!
Did someone mention having a new topic… Or at least more details on the original topic.
Okay where do you think the HGTV crew has disappeared to? Love the fact they are going to be in the Rose Parade.—this is going to be awesome. But where's Gail?
Guess I'm having blogger withdrawls. ha It's pretty bad when catch Khazzie and Simi (my cats) sitting on my desk— staring at the computer and meowing at me to log on so they can lie down and "watch". Obviously either they or I need to get a life. ha ha LOL
Hello sweeties, just thought I would check in for the day. Listening to Beetoven's 5th in C minor, lifting me higher and higher, as I think about our eight more days to enter the Urban Oasis. Having such a ball reading all of these delicious posts. Love Me
Hi Janzee, Congrates on your "centurion status". This musical post you have written is a grand example of why you are so delightful. Thanks for the 100 uplifting comments over the last few months and I look forward to reading many more as we follow the next Urban Oasis journey to it's finale. LOL
Hello dawling, your comments are always music to my air, and when I just read your comment I walked around thinking I am walking with a lightness in my step, and gratitude. Ain't we so much fun!!!!
Here is your music Ms Janzee dear…… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4IRMYuE1hI
Thank you Stone for this amazing utube selection. What joy!! Go over to listen to Ode, to Joy, in his ninth movement. Watch Beethoven's face on the screen, somehow the grid makes him look younger, as you are watching. The words scroll across as we hear Beethoven’s cri de guerre in this symphony in which the vocal setting, Ode to Joy, was about empathizing with another human being. The composer’s catalyst, was universal brotherhood and peace. This vocal, an interesting introduction amazes me. I forget who the poet was that inspired to write this movement.
Dear Stoney, I just wanted to drop by to tell you that I've saved your great Beethoven site on utube. The site you sent has a myriad of selections, and I've saved it on my desktop so that I can listen often and be swept away by the music. I'm thinkin that some time you may want to send this surprise to the group. Also mucho thanks for the Reid Park zoo website, and looked at it for the first time in oodles of years. When mom first designed the enclosures, it was called Randolph Park, and now the Elephant enclosure is going through growing pains. It made me realize that the zoo was so much larger, and a first of it's kind back in the day.
OMG! The furniture arrives in 3 days!!!!!!!! Read it in the news! Check it out!!!!!!!!
xD

Ah yes, thanks for the link to the article, cheesecakelover. Rumors have been swirling on the blog recently that load-in day would soon be here, and now we have an exact date. Not a minute too soon either, as the weather is changing, and rain and snows will soon make outdoor activities more challenging.
Along with lots of other great details, I found this item from the article of interest: "The resulting design premise is a treehouse. A tree trunk and branches partially support the entertainment room, and huge timbers, interesting ceiling details, and large windows give the impression of being outside and connected with nature." Cool stuff!
Youre welcome DB
did u read the issues they had with the asbestos? they didn't published that here…
Great link, cheesecakelover. I have been following this DH closely, and I still learned so much about it. I saw the tree drawing in the floor plans on HGTVpro, but I didn't think they'd actually but a tree in there! Not sure what I think about that — I hope it doesn't turn out to be as controversial as last year's casita bathroom!
It's supposed to be quite rainy in Stowe on the 16th. It should be an interesting move-in day. I can feel their pain…
I imagine that if it's raining, they'll wisely back the trucks up to the garage door or covered walkway, and carry everything right into the house without problem. Remember guys, wear booties. We don't want any hint of mud carried into our Dream Home. Pristine is the plan!
Hi Wyo_Girl,
Yes, a N'or Easter is expected to blow in tonight, here in New Hampshire, and heavy rains and strong winds for Thursday night, all day Friday and Saturday, but that may well translate to snow at higher elevations ! ( Stowe )
Stay toasty warm,
GoldieLocks

It seems that that photo was taken some time ago. The time lapse ones show more completion outside.
Thanks Cheescakelover, Furniture yes! I can't wait to see the four( I think it was four) reclaimed doors that contained glass panels.
Great find, Cheesecakelover! There's so much information in the article. I especially like
the Adirondack style of using trees as part of the inside-outside combination of living in the
mountains.
Cheesecake, everytime your name shows up here you're instantly the most popular blogger here. : ). Along with your very sweet and delicious name you're sharing great news, so you are very very, very popular or extra attractive, plus you have a very cute kittie pic.
Although, everytime I see you, I'm tempted to go out and put on 10 lbs. and adopt another kitty. I do wish you would come around more. I can resist the temptation of cheesecake for at least 2 weeks. ; )
Now, I wonder how popular I would become if I was to change my name to LindtChocolateTruffles. LOL.
I'm just teasing, we would love you with any name you chose. Unless you change your name to tack weed, or termites in da house.
Awww! ^_^ Cami you're so sweet!! Thnx for all the sweet comments, i also wish i could come around more often but university is driving me CRAZY! xD hahaha. BTW, i'm sorry my name could make some of the bloggies gain a few pounds, and don't worry u'll still be the beloved Cami with or without chocolate truffles! lol hehehe!
PS: termites in DA house!!! LOL u so funny! <3
So the contract calls for a 10/15 completion date! And now we understand why the delay in announcing the site- they had things going but had not closed on the property.
But please new photos. We relish every detail – and miniscule day to day changes make us happy. How about next dream house we have the updates weekly? Maybe dual an inside cam and outside cam – of course the inside one would have to after there was an inside to shoot.
I can't wait to see the furniture. I am sooooo excited! This is the best news I've heard all week!! I hope that it does not take HGTV very long to show us the interior of this home once the furniture is in place. I love this home! It has a great location and the floorplans provide plenty of space for out of town guests.
I've been trying to be busy today but the lack of updates is making me stir-crazy! I know there are reasons but even just a taste would do wonders! Oct. 1 of the Time-Lapse maybe? A lot was going on Sept. 30! Good luck on the furniture move-in, team! We know you can do it in any weather!
..I'm ok, really! :p
Wow! A HGTV float at the Tournament of Roses Parade! My husband and I will be at the parade this year for the first time ever. I always wanted to see everything in person and so am getting that chance this coming year! I hope it is as beautiful in person as it is on HGTV broadcast. They have the best broadcast!!!!!!!! No commercials like the major networks. Great going HGTV and will be cheering you on at the Parade.
Good morning, First, good luck to the DH team on move in day. I'm sure the excitement will out weigh any weather distractions—how fun for them.
Second—-besides wanting to, of course, see "EVERYTHING" —I'm the most curious about the "tree trunk" (mentioned in cheescakelover's link article)—they've only mentioned "tree branches" before. I'm guessing it's really an entire log.
Also, the "clawfoot tub"—somehow I can't visualize this in the large Master Bath—–seems like a large spa tub beneath that wonderful window would have been the choice——with placement of the clawfoot tub in the guest bath instead.
Curiosity aside——-this is going to be a wonderful "ski lodge" DH. How exciting. LOL
Are you talking about the natural adirondack decor in the DH? If so there's a video on HGTV/Pro of the natural wood elements, along with at least 8 other Dream Home videos.
http://www.hgtvpro.com/hpro/pac_ctnt/text/0,2595,…
Congratulations Janzee.. You are an even 100. Cool.
I'm not liking my number right now, and I thought I wasn't superstitious.
I must have shot myself in the foot, so to speak, by giving Mary so many compliments lately. It would seem she has become complacent and doesn't see the need to start any new topics anywhere.
Or she's just incredibly busy. I'm sure she's just busy. You're still an amazing wonder Mary.
In another post I expressed my concern about the black and white cow not being represented on the HGTV Dream Home float. I have just come up with the perfect solution. Coop said he gets a little chilly going to the parade in Pasadena.. Katy said something about a red convertible that coop may or may not have. So bloggers and HGTV I have the perfect solution….. Coop dressed up in a black and white milk cow costume driving down Colorado Blvd in his red convertible while leading the Dream Home float. Maybe you could bring the rest of the clues with you Coop, and display them on the dash of the car. ; )
Who wants to volunteer to ride in the parade with Coop in a full head to toe cow costume. Remember Coop will be driving with the head of a cow, possibly obscuring his vision.
I think when one refers to a bovine it would be a head to hoof costume Cami! ^_^
You just made the mental image of Coop in a cow costume so much cuter.. Coop in hooves, udders, a cute lil cow face, with cute little ears.. Ahhhhh how sweet.
I wonder how Coop will get me back for this one.
I am sure with Coop's wit he will string together appropriate phraseology to come up with a bon mot as an appropriate repartee! ^_^
Well, I guess I can agree to the cow costume, udders and all, on condition that Cami don the appropriate bovine costume for the male gender. While it's definitely a role reversal, only a few of the millions of viewers will know who's sweating beneath those outfits. Besides, my bet is that Cami will get all of the attention anyway. Those umm…horns are bound to cause plenty of amused comments….
Well as long as the costume is neutered or without… Ya know. I wouldn't mind wearing the male cow costume….But wait a hold a minute, If I'm going to be sweating forget it!!! You said it would be a little cold and windy Coop, not hot and sweaty. A light cow costume shouldn't be making a person sweaty in cool weather. I refuse to sweat.. Can't, and won't do it.
Can you imagine how a woman with long hair would look after sweating in a cow costume…. Nope. I have to be beautiful at all times.
Although small in stature, Benny the Vermont Holstein Teddy Bear would be more than happy to ride in the parade and take a seat of honor in my red convertible. Cami can sit in back (yes, it is a true 4 seater), but will have to enlist Jack T, Super Fan Gail, MARY, or guest of her choice to join her in waving and greeting the thousands of well-wishers, HGTV dreamers, and millions of viewers worldwide. As for Show Me, he won't mind holding down the fort and watching it all on the big screen from home.
Boy that sure is tempting… Now how would I enlist Jack T and get him down with the whole idea??? I'll be home by the 28th of December. Really they should put my volunteerism to good use. They wouldn't have to pay me or pay for my transportation or accommodations. I am a little chicken about driving around Cal. by myself though. Course if hubby came along I'd just set him up with the task. He may want/need to get away from the kids after such a long family vacation. ; )
Hi, Wasn't there something—way way back in the archaic archives about he and his buddy "Show Me" in confrontations with each other from time to time? This might be his opportunity to make amends. ha
I'm still trying to figure out if "Show Me" is even his own separate person. Coop might be the right hand and "Show Me" might be Coop's left hand. I wonder how many hats Coop has hanging on his hat rack??. Until I meet Coop and his friend "Show Me" I guess I'll never know. ; )
When and if I do meet Coop…I wonder which hand Coop will slap me with concerning this post… Maybe both Coop and his friend will be mad at me for even suggesting they aren't real….And for the Coop in cow costume, and a few other things….
Hi Cami, whoops—-maybe subject best left alone. Some times Alter Egos are interesting—–Your request seemed reasonable to me. ha
PS: I think it's time for a new thread to begin —-maybe tomorrow, tomrrow, tomorrow, maybe. Okay–guess I'll sign out for today. Hope your evening is wonderful. LOL
Cami trust me. If you ever meet Coop you will be meeting Show Me the Green too! Maybe you can introduce 2Cami to both of them. ^_^
Gotcha Ed, thanks for the advice. I keep forgetting The Green at the end. Show me The Green and Coop have been around for a long time. It sounds like 2 Cami and Show me have a lot in common, they might even get along better with eachother, but they wouldn't have nearly as much fun as Coop, Ed and I.
Well, maybe tomorrow we'll have new pics of some kind. Maybe a few photos of the truck backed up to the car barn—-unloading the mysterious furniture. LOL
I'll go for that.. But would like to see a vlog of the whole thing.
Speaking of Cheesecake! Soney and I love your name Cheesecakelover! Who would have ever thought they would write a song just for you but they did! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqrhdYQ_wMg&fe…
OMDG! hahahah! lol!!! How funny! XD that's nuts! XD lol seems like somebodyelse than me loves cheesecakes a LOT! lol
He sounds like a cartoon!!! hahah! i think he sounds just like Mr. Crabs, from Sponge Bob! XD
OOOH!!! CHESEECAKE MUNCHIN' CHESEECAKE MUNCHIN'!!! LOL
thnx for this link! hilarious! xD
Just go back to the 2010 home and look at the pictures. Some bloggers didn't care for the clear glass walls in the casita bathroom!
lol now i see, hahaha. not only that! the bathroom clear walls don't even come up to the ceiling! LOL ewww stinky!! xD lololol
Good evening everybloggie,
Phew ! Moley Smokes ! The garage project is finally finished !!! Whooee :O) TaaaDaaah ! ( drum roll ….)
Tired but happy. …nah, that doesn't do it justice….I'm exhausted and ecstatic ! lol.
Back on the subject of possible snow in Stowe, it could truly be anyone's guess, as sometimes snow arrives in huge drifts even before Hallowe'en. Other years' it's late arriving.
Last night I think there was first snow this season on the top of Mount Washington, New Hampshire. But it is the first highest peak in the wind system that blows in from Siberia, so it is always cold up there, the snow often never melts even in August, and the wind chill factor is brutal, brrrrr :O)
I think the guys who man the weather station up on the summit must wear wolf skin underfoodles ( with the furrry side in ) lol.
Warm wishes :O)

Dreams really do come true! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GSXo-tmVpW8&fe…
Thank you Dorothy! Two of my favorites together!
Hi lovey dovey, I agree with you dreams do come true, I must tell you what happened this morning. I am going to tell the story on the main page, I think you'll find it interesting.
Let me be the second one to congratulate you on reaching that magic 100th Janice. I finally figured out that you main page comment means, a new separate post! I am kind of slow sometimes Gracie! ^_^
Dear Georgie-Eddie, slow is not a word to describe you. I thank you for your magic numbers compliment, you always show up at the right place at the right time, with the right words. 100 feels good today!!!
Dear kids, I guess, I have earned my Aunt donya or Janzee status as a Century IN. So interesting…. it goes to prove how close we are to this blog, and all the whats goins on, and people and places, faces, and the larger than life happenings with HGTV. I thank you for setting a place for me so that I may come as a gracious and honored guest, like each and every member of the blog. First thing when I woke up, I realized that I had dreamt I was 100 years old, and started to for a brief moment look back at my years on this blog. I never never look at the right hand icons nor do I much care. I loved it when Eddie congratualated me on 95, but today, because of the dream, I looked over to check out the numbers, and there I was at 100. Tonight at a dinner a friend asked what I was worth in terms of dollars and cents, and I said, I am worth every comment made on HGTV, and what I say back, and I AM 1OO gracious hugs and kisses. I know you all would come up with a better smart alex answer, but that's what I thought of for the moment. Love, and feeling my age, Donya Aunt Janzee
This is truly a special moment in your blogging career Janzee, you only turn 100 once in a blogtime.
I agree—hitting the century mark is quite an honor, Janzee, and takes talent, persistence, a good support group both on the blogs and behind the scenes, and avoiding any serious improprieties such as involvement in virtual food fights, the use of the word shoe-s, and various and sundry blog mayhem. You have earned your wings. May the force be with you always.
Dearest Coop, thank you for your wonderful compliment, force be with you blessings, good seal of approval, and list of behavior check points. I shall on my honor, promise to be on my best behavior, not to sling a pie unless invited, and stay true to the cause. Secretly ya gotta know, I am a pie flinger from way back and have been yearning to have a good pie bash free for all, with a cherry on top just for the comedy of it. I would throw 100 whip cream, or shaving cream pies just to throw em. And the shoe–s is not in my vocab, so I am good to go.
Happy 100 Janzee http://www.ohhaveyouseenthis.com/2009/12/100-bott…
Hello dolly, and thank you again for the compliment, and for the gorgeous fireworks display. I will be rootin tootin for you too and soney at one hundred.
Janzee you can see it better with this link. The blog moster strikes again! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s1zbLwCn7bY&fe…!
Whoopie Whoopie, alicesoneysmom, I just saw the link, and here's to hundred, to your one hundered and to everyone else's one hundred. To centennials across the country like Shiner Texas, and like untube said to 101. Yippie!!!!!!!!!:):D:p
Congrats, dear Janzee! As I am only an octogenarian, I am quite impressed with your accomplishment! I looked for you this morning on the Today Show, but Willard Scott neglected to mention this milestone. Hope you celebrate your prolificness!
I am such a celebrating mood, after watching alicessoneysmom's video- you gotta see it from Shiner Texas celebrating 100. So I say, here's to you Wyo_ Girl, and your octogenerian, amperian, super charge in theoryin–vegetarian?, non generic, aesthetic, great rhetoric, may like Star Trek, on track, watch my back, Congrats to you Wyo, and here is to your next twenty, dont get me started with another attempt ot rhyme again.
Sorry I missed your 100p Milestone, Janzee!!! Good work …….. bet you had fun getting there.
Bouquet of colorful balloons for you!
Nice compliment, and that is precisely what I mean Cams, I should have said that to my friend tonight at dinner. Thank you and my centurion posts thank you.
Good afternoon everybloggie,
For those of you who love bears, here's an awesome video! I hope the link works okay, or you may have to cut and paste. Techie Wizard I am not :O(
Have a brilliant weekend,

The Dreamhome in Vermont is going to be GORGEOUS! Will they include a Hot tub?! I sure would LOVE TO WIN THIS BEAUTY! Beverly

YOU have such amazing clean, tasteful, directiton, Stone. I checked out first portfolio. Now that's some kind of kitchen. We need your field work as you are a leader, my friend and applaud and love your work every step of the way.
Thank you Janzee. So much fun trying to imagine what the Dream Home's kitchen will look like in 'real kitchen life'. LOL
Hey, we sure love your sweet & spicy words that add interest and flavor also!
I hope that you Stone or one of our great blog group, goes beyond imagining this home, right into the WINNERS CIRCLE, and then allow us to tail gate you so that we can throw that party we've been talking about forever. May all of your spicey dreams come true Stoney.
P.S. I love donkeys, and would adopt a few if I had a place like this. The folks who have this barn must be very special people.
Yes, that is a great place!
By the way….. Mom and I were just reading some of her mail the other day and one envelope had a form where you could donate $$ to the people who rescue and feed abused donkeys. So sad to hear about 4 to 5 men getting on a small donkey until he crumples to the ground. Some people have no respect or brain cells I do declare!! ( The donkeys will not run away. )
Hey toostey Stone. You and your mom are like my mom and I. We're always looking for animal rights programs we can actively be part of. Do you member the story I told about the Reid Park Zoo in Tucson. Well my mother was one of the first people in the country to offer animals a natural habitat to thrive, so she designed a Polar Bear, and elephant enclosure which was used as a model around the country. They were even written up in Life magazine.
Yep, ' We're always looking for animal rights programs we can actively be part of'……. that's us and you and your mom too. We all are caring people. People need to stand up for and help our silent animal friends.
Your mom must be an amazing person to design those enclosures. Would love to read that Life magazine write-up. Found the Reid Zoo website…. http://www.tucsonzoo.org/
Mary, I will be watching the Tournament of Roses parade. Can't wait to see te HGTV float. I'm so glad HGTV is expanding its audience and making more people aware of Dream Home 2011. Hopefully this will be a record-setting year for Dream Home entries.
Since a Food Network person, Paula Deen, has been chosen as Grand Marshall this year this seems fitting.
Yes, using spuds on the Dream Home Float is a great idea!
http://www.hgtv.com/on-tv/decorating-the-floats/p…
I am SOOOOO excited! This house is awesome!! I am in the south and we would love to have a Northern get away! Watching the float building now. Can't wait til the show about the house comes on. Great Job HGTV!! You've out done yourself….again!
Yeahhh I love Paula Dean! Yes, she has that sweet, smart, southern style.
To Lessie, part 1 of 2… I sure don't understand your comment to my post, because my husband and I are very much enjoying each others time on this earth. My posts were just that my posts, I was under the impression that anyone can post a comment and thats what I did. Now as far as my husband and I people love being around us, but that doesn't change the fact that I will lose the love of my life sooner than we want. But the love and care we have for each othe is out of this world.
part 2 of 2…We have been together for 27 years for some that may not be very long but for us it is, you see after seven years of marriage we divorced, and yet we missed each other daily, so we dated, we were there for each others illnesses, and then when my ex at the time had his two heart attacks, we were still there for each other, then before the third one hit him he asked me to marry him again, so as for love, hopes and dream we still have that, but the thing that is most important to us is everyday that we are together is a dream, a dream of Love today, tomorrow, and forever that love will last. But it doesn't stop us all from wanting to have yet another dream. So not sure what you meant on my dreams are different, they are no different than anyone elses.
