  1. Amazing — be it Sonoma, Santa Fe, and now Stowe, our Super Fan always somehow manages to get the inside scoop. This time it was some insight from a college friend, Russ. So thanks, Russ and Gail, for sharing with us. (While I'm thinking about it, is it just coincidence, or have the last three Dream Home locations started with an "S" in honor of Sincerely Sensational Super Fan Gail?)

I'm very glad that Gail made sure to mention that the hiking trails are good for every age, from young to well-seasoned! Also that there are so many great choices for lodgings and for dining. By the way, maybe Gail should have mentioned that in the case of hordes of visitors (since they're bound to show up at your Dream Home doorstep) don't let them in on the "ski dorm" secret on the lower level of the home. Just be sure that door is closed and locked when showing off your new Spruce Peak Dream Home. Otherwise, the word will spread like poison ivy, and EVERYONE will be getting the itch to visit you — and stay for weeks at a time, be it summer, winter, or fall.

    • Sounds like Russ described the perfect tourist trap. It's nice to know that there are so many places for guests to stay, besides the dream home!

EdinOregon on November 4, 2010 at 12:07 am
    • To resolve the overstock of visitor issues, maybe the winner could set up a lottery system. You have to pay in to be a member, which allows you a newsletter, a t shirt labeled Stowe or no show, one coupon to Ben and Jerrys's, a famous DBCoop bottle of maple syrup, and a chance to win a stay for the weekend. That's it, any further elfy shenanigans, and they will be escorted to the nearest tree house.

  2. Thanks for the tips from Russ, Gail! Sounds like Stowe is the perfect place to get plenty of exercise, sleep, and good food — what more could anyone ask for? Now all we need is a peek at the DH interior, dear Super Fan (hint, hint!)!

  3. Looking at this time-lapse #179 photo, I wonder if a neighbor home will be built across from this HGTV Dream Home?

Wonder if they would put some of the things in their new neighboring home that we wished for in this HGTV Dream Home?

    Like what?? Some wishes…………………….

a small treehouse (with adult headroom please)
    a zip line
a SECRET room above the Car Barn (maybe an office)
    a hidden safe
hand air-blowers (powerful ones) in the ski-dorm bathroom
intercom system! (for saying such annoucements, like: "It's a blizzard outside…. sleep in.")
hidden loft with telescope above kitchen where roof windows are
web-cams by each window for Master to check out on his bedroom TV

    ANY MORE?? ……………………..

RJMstone on November 4, 2010 at 7:27 am
    • They did say "ski-in, ski-out" so we can only assume that there's going to be some sort of open space for a trail across the street to that effect, as the slopes of Spruce Peak are in that direction.

fraggyx on November 4, 2010 at 10:43 am
      • Good response Fraggyx.

Lessie on November 4, 2010 at 8:19 pm
    • Yodle yodle hey heee hoo, send down the ski, lift. RJMStone, and the fellow blogger visitors would like to be hoisted up the mountain. VO—-Tarzan call from the mountain in response. "How many guests you have visiting your DH, Stone, if you have the time we've got plenty of chairs".

    • Thanks for the cheery morning greeting, GoldieLocks Bears. I've been up for hours but this
dark, wet morning makes me sleepy. You reawakened me from that sleepy state!

Deerspring on November 4, 2010 at 8:40 am
      • Are you on the East Coast Deerspring? I felt the same way this morning. Had to force myself out of bed, but as I started moving, I felt better. However, I did sleep for four hours after returning home.

Lessie on November 4, 2010 at 8:27 pm
        • Yes, Lessie. I like the sunshine in the morning. I was up and busy but the darkness
          just made me feel sleepy.

  5. Sounds amazing it just invites you to dream even more about how your life could be.

    pixelecho69 on November 4, 2010 at 10:25 am
    • Hi pixiecho69, what a great comment. Welcome to the site, and keep dreaming love, that's how you make things a reality.

Janzee on November 5, 2010 at 11:18 pm
  6. It does sound amazing. But, Gail, if you have been reading the blog you would see that it is nothing new to us. We have already discovered this information. What we really want is simething new. Info on the home. Secrets to share. About the spaces there. lol. Please, oh please, give us more.

funfordot on November 4, 2010 at 12:48 pm
  7. This vlog felt like a fire drill. I was all excited to see Super Fan on the scene (or so I thought) and then I came to realize it was another "I'm not there" "This is not my tour of Stowe" Video. It's pretty cool that she had a college friend that actually lived there though.

Cami on November 4, 2010 at 1:27 pm
    • Cami, maybe Annalisa will visit Stowe before Gail since she's closer. Let's hope she's there now collecting fun and interesting tidbits for us.

Annalisa, we're ready for your vlog!

Lessie on November 4, 2010 at 8:46 pm
  8. You're probably right Coop. We wouldn't want to hurry Gail, and she probably has felt a little outa practice. Now that she's perfected her vlogs once again… I'd say the next one may just be the real deal. Besides I did want to see the whole Winter scene and how Gail manages to get around, drive around, and slide around. I think that would make for a great video. ; )

Don't forget about the hungry birds in the snow Gail.

"Super Fan Talks Stowe" I had no idea they had their own language. Kidding aside, I'm sure there are quite a few "Stowe words" we will need to know before we move there. The Stowe Natives probably have their own unique microculture. I hope their main staple food is sweets. : .)

Cami on November 4, 2010 at 2:09 pm
    • Cami, you mean like Islands pigeon talk? Or pig latin or something like that? I wonder if they say things like "whassup bulleh?" Or maybe if you ask directions to the Dream Home, they'll answer "ustjay ollowfay uperSay anFay."

Now I'm thinking that I hope we don't need a translator when we go to Stowe.

DBCoop on November 4, 2010 at 2:41 pm
      • Maybe with their musical history, they only sing to each other, while conver'sing or conver-singing. Or maybe they all speak German and nobody thought to tell us.
Maybe they speak German and sing. I'll bet you never thought you'd have to take singing lessons to live in your new Dream Home. ; )

Cami on November 4, 2010 at 2:57 pm
        • Okay, I think I could handle the German part, but the singing? I'm afraid I'd be left out in the cold. I couldn't sing Happy Birthday to Yankee Doodle on key if my life depended on it. So much for lazy summer days and winter snowboarding in Stowe. I'm afraid I'd have to rely on just a credit card and pointing to what I wanted.

  9. Hi Superfan,
Let it Stowe, Let it Stowe, Let it Stowe… and thank Russ for the info.

  10. Mary, I can't blog on the November 4th entry. Are you trying to tell me that I need to sit in the corner for a while? Usually I know when I've done something I shouldn't have. Can you please tell me what I've done to earn this time out?

Lessie on November 4, 2010 at 7:06 pm
  11. Mary, I must have REALLY been bad because I can't access the vlog either. Gee, when I've done something that bad, I usually know, but I have no idea what it could be in this case. Now there have been times I've known the consequeces ahead of time and still chosen to do wrong, but this definitely doesn't quality as one of those times. So what's up? Guess it's time to email ID.

Lessie on November 4, 2010 at 7:20 pm
  12. Gail, please thank Russ for sharing. I'm sure the winner will take his advice and see or do as much as their body can endure while in Stowe. If Russ says Stowe is better than Boulder, CO, Stowe must be absolutely amazing!!!

  15. Dear Deary, it sounds like you had a blast in Stowe. When did you go?

Janzee on November 5, 2010 at 1:06 am
    • I know how you feel, once you experience a part of the country you love you can never let go of the feeling. For me it's NY. There is definately a melding with the special people, environment, culture, food, faun and flora and it becomes part of you. You must miss the skiing in Stowe, and all of it's wonders as Gail calls to mind. Love, Janice

Janzee on November 5, 2010 at 11:16 pm
  16. Hi Gail, the best info is straight from the mouth of the locals, or used to be old locals, or not so old vocals. I love to hear your toikels. Russ sounds like he is a real earthy guy- thanks Russ! You sure have done alot of earth lovin hiking, and in Stowe it seems it would be easy to traverse the city, in a day, whilst experiencing the myriad of feast friendly places. Kidding aside, I dug the comment about loving the EARTH!!!

  17. Thanks Gail and thank you to your friend Russ…I miss the hiking in Washington State.

  18. Hey Gail,
Looks like you are going to have a blast over there in Stowe, my question is how far is the public school district from Dream Home? I have 2 young children that attend school, Elementary and Middle school.

  19. Hi Gail, I just had another opportunity to look at the great maple flooring that Jack picked out from Lumber Liquidators. I say thanks to RJMStone for sending me the HGTVpro links I think it's an excellent choice, but wanted to ask how much maple light color will be throughout. I wonder if any of the cabinets incorporates a staining or antiquing that brings out the darker color woods and creates a deeper contrast?

  22. I am still verry much excited about stowe vermont. I can see myself rolling along the hills trying to explore to see what i am able to find, as far as wild life. I love animals so much that i am not able to see them go hungry, So i do feed the wild squrells ervery day at my appartment. There are about 15 squrells outside that i do feed , and there is one squrell inside living with me. Her name is donna / simon. She allway's likes to have my attention when i am at home. I do enjoy her. I still cant wait until the online tour start's on december 20 th. Not too much longer now. It almost be 14 more day's. I hope my computer dont break down on me after january first, Becouse i need to make sure that i am able to get my name entered once a day. This is verry important to me. I am ecited to see what kind of a surprise the HGTV dream team 2011 has for all of us who bloggers

However i dont visit any bar's, But i have went into a bar before just so i could see if they could save cans for me ,and it turns out that they didn't use anything from aluminum can's.I havent been in any bar's since then. I did here that wine is good for the human bladder, and some day i will try it. I am not in any hury to put anything like that into my body. I would like to drink a glass of wine. I have been keeping myself busy. I did go to the post office the other day to get a few post cards , and they were all blank. I went to a different store and got some real post card's. Your all doing a good job HGTV dream team

  24. I dont understand why ervery home that the HGTV dream team build's are so perfect in ervery way. Including the current location in stowe vermont at spruce peak. I think about this year's home ervery day and night for that matter. I am happy there is a spaw in the back of this year's HGTV dr4eam home, and yes i am so excited about this. I have never been good at hiding my excitment. I am still looking for a new place to live at. I do need to be out of my current home due to me being evicted. I am not verry happy about this, I try not to think about this problem. I do keep myself busy trying to find out erverything about this year's HGTV beuitifull dream home. I am trying to find pictures of any wild animals that live in the mountain's of stowe vermont. My best friend have lived in vermont , and he told me that it is a beuitifull location, and of course i already knew that from all the studdying i have been doing. I am glad that i now have a simple tecknology called the computer , and the internet. Thank's dream team for doing such a good job for all of the blogger's/ me

I do love the spaw, and i have allways wanted one of my own. I do love wild animal's, and am glad there are deer around stowe vermont. We bloggers are being a great part of histery in the making, and this gives me something to look forward to. I think about this home daily, and decided that its perfect for me and my family. I do love it verry much.

  26. Dear Gail belive it or not i am your number one blogger. I went to an auction today when a company went out of buisness, becouse the way our ecconomy is going. The company is idaho coin gallery. They sold over 400 gun's. I fould out there were people from all over the closest states like oregan, utah, and montana. The gun's all went for more than i was willing to spend. I didn't spend , becouse i dont have the money to spend. I do enjoy just seeing what erverything is selling for. It was good to just go and hang out with the money men.I have been trying to put together about what the special feature is , and i am not able to figure this out. This dosn't leave me but one choice, but to wait until december 20 . just like ervery one need's to wait. Gail i would like you to tell me what ever you know also. I am excited about this year's beuitifull HGTV dream home. The dream team has done a good job this time. Ervery year just get's more amazing than the year before. I do hope to get all my entries into this givaway this year. So i will have a chance .

  27. I am glad that when i deservingly win the home i will be able to keep myself busy ervery day. I also enjoy eating out , so it would be cool to see what kind of food is in vermont. This will be a wounderfull place for me to live. I am ecited to now know when we can start entering this fabulas give away. This has allways been a dream of mine. Living in the moutain, surrounded by lot's of wild life, which i do love. I have a pet squrell who keeps me pretty busy. And i have a wounderfull cat, who is a lot like a watch dag as my neigbor would say. She dont bark. So if you come in my home without beeing invited, you yould get hurt by her. I am verry happy with this year's HGTV dream home choice, And they all are doing a wounderfull job.

  28. It's me ever bloggy, But i was really worried this morning , becouse i was reading on the rules , and the rules stated that you can mail postcards, but your post card's need to be mailed in an envelope with proper postage. Then just a minute ago i was reading the rules in a different place , and the rules then stated that you can mail a post card by them selves or you can put the post card in an envelope. Both of these rules are on the same website, but states two different methods of entry . When i buy the post cards they already have postage on them, so i would just be wasting my money. Now i think i can send a post card by themselves, or i can mail them in an envelope if i want to. I think i have this all together. Thanks dream team for showing me that you all have a lot of tallent.

    hudjon1977 on December 5, 2010 at 8:55 pm
  29. I was really worried about the rules for entry for this wounderfull giveaway. Now that i read the other set of rules i am hopeing that i do get my entry's into the sweepstakes. Thank's to Gails friend russ for giving us all a bit of of history about what stowe vermont has to offer. It makes me want to live there even more . I already know that its beuitifull as one blogger said heaven on earth. When i was enlisted in the marine corp's i almost got to go to heaven, but our father in heaven wasn't ready for me . I am glad i have got a second chance to live . I am verry happy to be alive. I am for the most part heathy, but now do have some disability's. I have or try to be in a good mood ervery day. Thank's to ervery one who has made this beuitifull HGTV dream home give away possible. bI am glad i think i am understanding a little bit.

I am verry thankfull for being alive, however i stll havent found a new place to live, becouse i have been evicted. I am going to look at my own home to rent. 31. I do look forward to going hiking, this is something that i do enjoy doing. I do enjoy seeing what im able to find. Gail it should be i time to put a new video on here so we can watch. Not that i dont enjoy hearing what russ say's we can do in stowe vermont. Vermont is absoulutely gergous and cant wait to move there, however i will wait until the dream team announces me as the winner , before i pack my clothes. this is what i did last year. This made me glad that i really dont have a lot of clothes to pack, or i didn't last year. I am verry thankfull for all that our heavinly father has given me , including a second chance to live. I still dont know what the special featue in the home will be, but i am glad that it's almost december 20 th. This is what is exciting to me. not to mention how beuitifull the cabin, and the surrounding at the HGTV 2011 dream home is. It is so perfect for me in ervery way.

  32. Well now bloggers. here is nothing new today. I was hoping that Gail would have posted a new video on the blogg so we could all see it. But here wasn't anything that i didnt already know. I was really hoping that some one knew what the special feature was , that was not on the floor plan. The surprise that shocked Gail so much. The beuitifull home sill look's the same. I am sure ,becouse they haven't replaced the pictures and im sure that they wont. I am trying to find out erverything there is to do in stowe vermont to ocupie my spare time. A least there is good new's , that its almost december 20 th. his is when i will start to watch the online tour constantly. This will be cool. Just maybe we can get the dream team to take us on a tour down town in stowe vemont. I would like to see some live animals as well. Like deer, bear's, and elk if there is any elk in vermont. i am still reading all the blogg's daily. Good job to the dream team.

I am single, however i hate being single at christmas time, but remember it is still christmas and i will have fun on christmas day. I love this wounderful season. I really do enjoy the snow. I cant wait , ok i can wait becouse i dont have a choice. I cant wait until i can be able to find myself some live animals, like deer, elk if there are any. Moose, wich i have never seen one alive. I have seen them stuffed. Its been a while since i have unted for any game. I really do enjoy watching the animals to see what they do from day to day. I have learned a lot about squrells, from watching my pet squrell daily. Her name is donna simon.

  34. Hello!

I just discovered this wonderful discussion about the dream home in Stowe. I live in Vermont and will until the day I die. I am a transplant from the south, and it is a different world up here. I have been to Stowe many times. Downtown is as beautiful as the mountains. There is a wonderful quilt shop there that I love! (I’m an avid quilter)I live near Lake Memphremagog in Newport, VT. There are a great many Moose in Vermont (around Stowe) as well. We stopped on our way home from Jay Peak the other day on the side of the rode to take a picture of a baby Moose. If you want to see a Vermont Moose you should look up Pete the Moose’s Facebook page. He is adorable (and tame). As if there weren’t a great many things to do in Stowe (and there are) there are wonderful adventures awaiting you all over the state. Not far is Burlington, Montpelier, Jay Peak, Lake Champlain, etc. I go camping all over the state, and there is so much to do outdoors. I think whoever the winner is will have a hard time fitting everything in. As for hiking, trails in Vermont are wonderful. There is “The Long Trail”. It is a hiking trail located in Vermont, running the length of the state. It is the oldest long-distance trail in the United States. Absolutely Wonderful! Also, I wanted to point out that Snowshoeing in Vermont is unbelievable as well. Well, I need to go, but I love talking Vermont, so if anyone has a question I would love to help.

  35. Well fello bloggers. I have tryed to find pictures of wild animals in stowe vermont. I did get to see a really be=ig bear. He almost looked lovable, However i have heard of them killing people and eating them. I do watch the news, and this is were i seen them eat the trainers. Thats too bad. You never know when a wild animal will snap. I really do like wild animals. I do belive in feeding the deer , and elk hey. The reason for this is so that they wont starve through the winter. This would be classified as a winter kill. I would like to prevent that if i could. Well i am still waiting for Gail to post a new video for all of us to watch . Its been about 3 day's. However i am sure that she dosn't want to say anything that will get her into trouble. I would like her to tell us what the special feature is But i dont think that she will. We will all have to wait until december 20 th . This month is going by so fast. I cant wait until we get to see the inside of this year's beuitiful HGTV dream home. Good job dream team

  36. Well im just checking in hoping to find new video from Gail. There isnt anything new. The snow here in twin falls idaho is almost all gone, TRhat means there is about two weeks for the snow to fall before christmas get's here . It dosn't seem like christmas without the snow. Does any one know what i can put in my stocking. I wish that the stocking would fit over the top of my new HGTV dream home, this would be perfect to me. I live buy myself ,but i do buy a bunch of gifts for my nefews and nices. They really are number one to me. I do love all kids. I would love to some day have children of my own. I am so excited that there is only seven days left until the online tour start's. Then come's january first, when we all can start entering this fabulous number one giveaway of all times. I am sure there will be more entrant's this yeart than the past year's due to how wounderful this year's Beuitifull HGTV dream home is , and to think it only took 5 month's to build. The dream team has done another good job

  38. I did forget to mention after looking at the pphotos of this years Beuitiful HGTV dream home . i have decided that the home is protected from wild fires. This has allways been a real fear of mine. All it does take is a smoker who throws their cigaret out there window and up in flames goes the woods. This is verry unfortunate , but its all in reality. It would be really cool living in the heart of the mountains, and i cant wait to go exploring the woods. If i am able to get there i will see what i am able to find. And i really love to see wild animals, and i am still trying to find the moose i was recently told were there. I know there are bear's. You probly dont want to pet them, However they are cute, allmost cute enough that a person would try to pet them, but not me. I am into keeping myself safe.

  39. ** NOTE: BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN ENTERING THIS COMPETITION!**

The winner of this magnificent home is required to pay income tax on the face value of this home ($2M?).

Do the math and ask your self if the cash win is enough to cover what you will owe the IRS – if not, you will have to sell the house.

If you choose to sell the house, I can tell you now, that the value of the house is so far above market value, that it will sit on the market for many, many months, devaluing, as your IRS penalties increase, month after month!

In addition, while the designer furniture it terrific, it's a little 'far out' for most buyers tastes, which devalues the property even more.

I am not telling you not to enter the competition and I am not trying to burst your bubble of winning this truly beautiful dream home, but please….. just be realistic ~ unless you plan to live in it *AND* you have the cash to pay the IRS, winning this home could bankcrupt you!

Just be careful and do your homework!

  41. Hi Deerspring and all bloggers. This is the first time I have ever blogged anything. I have never been to Vermont and I am so excited to visit Stowe in the near future. I am dreaming of this house like everyone else. We are nearing retirement and we really don't know where we would like to retire. This looks like a dream come true. We love to ski and linger over dinner or lunch, sometimes even breakfast at charming restaurants. This house is so perfect and every time I watch another info clip on it, it becomes better.

  42. We visit Stowe every summer! Our kids love it! Hiking is great and Sterling Pond has been our family favorite! We have pictures from atop Pinnacle with our kids at all different ages through the years. Our kids learned to ski there and our youngest, now 14 learned to snowboard. We also have a great time canoeing and Kayaking the Lamoille River and Lake Champlain. The Stowe bike path is awesome too with lots of great places to stop on the way. The Gables Inn is one of my favorites for breakfast or lunch. Summer or winter, we love it there. I really want to get up there in the fall one day. I've only seen pictures. We've always dreamed of buying a home and moving there but with three college tuitions on the very near horizon, (one who wants to go to NYU or Columbia), it might be a while if ever.
At least I can visit and hey, maybe we will be the winning family! What a dream come true that would be!!!

  43. I feel that our family has a big connection to Stowe and this Dream Home because we are The Timm Family Singers(like The Trapp Family Singers) and have been called the vonTimms. All six of us have been singing together for more than a decade and the first musical theater production that Mom and Dad and our 4 children were in together was The Sound of Music! I have never been to Vermont, but have always wanted to go to Stowe because of the Trapp Family Lodge.
