Dare To Dream
To dream the impossible dream
To win this lodge home in Stowe
To embrace the mountain life scene
To go where the ski trails go
This is my quest
To follow that star
Just doing my best
From home or afar
Each day no matter how long
My heart will beat peaceful and calm
For I'll sing this powerful song
And dream the impossible dream
So go ahead, take ownership of your hopes and dreams. Step into the driver's seat, and make your own day! 'Cause if you don't, someone else will gladly step in and do it for you!
This dream home is so puuurfect! http://il.youtube.com/watch?v=VqW5dN1DPmI&fea…
Thanks for sharing. I saved this one—-so great. So many of these, of course, have Khaz and Simi personality. This photographer is very talented.
So much more to see of this Dream Home, but I really like the brighter colors Linda used in the main floor Great Room, and the soaring vaulted ceiling of the kitchen/dining areas. The four-poster bed of the master suite and deep feature-wall color creates an oasis from which to view the spectacular mountain scenery. And, I like the lively colors of the Ski Dorm bathroom.
Now, for the full tour de force encore….
Trying to have a more direct link for the video since they're adding new content all the time…

OK, I did it! I actually did it! I VOTED 10 TIMES! 10 whole times! Result? I am still in the minority and my "everything plate" is is serious need of some additional votes. Just sayin'…LOL!
Another great find, Deerspring — thanks! Three things I noticed right off the bat — there is no loft above the kitchen (boo hoo!), the doggie dream home is in the master bedroom, and they opted not to put a wooden surround around the clawfoot tub in the master bath! Okay, I'm going back for another look too!
I watched the video and missed the doggie DH and the clawfoot tub. Thank you for pointing that out. I love those old bathtubs they have personality. Wonder what changed their mind. How are you and your family doing? And how is Diamond doing? Soney and I are fine. We are in the rainy season in Seattle and for some reason Soney doesn't like the rain. He likes other water like tipping over his water bowl at least once a day or finding a mud puddle to splash in. Labs are supposed to have webbed feet just like ducks. Haven't taken him swimming yet. But I have a feeling Soney is going to be a splasher and not a dog paddler. Talk to you soon.
Hi Alice! We are all doing well here. Diamond went to the vet on Tuesday and they decided that the medication dosage she is on now is right for her, so we don't have to go back for two months — Diamond breathed a sigh of relief, as she was starting to dread going back every month. I can't believe Soney doesn't like the rain — he must be the only Lab who doesn't! Maybe because in Seattle you get too much of a good thing! We just had a spell of really cold weather and another one is coming on Monday, so the dogs and I plan to enjoy the brief warm period we are having today. Take care, and stay dry!
If you go to the scene a little more than halfway through the video where the reporter is standing in the master bedroom, the doggie dream home is on the right (her left) next to the chair. From the view we have of the tub, I don't actually see claw feet — it looks more like the tub is sitting on blocks. Hopefully those block-like things are just hiding our view of the feet!
I think we need a new blog thread!
DREAMS
The weather outside is frightful,
But inside the Dream Home's delightful,
Since we're on our way to Stowe
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!
It doesn't show signs of stopping,
And we've bought some corn for popping,
The lights seem to say hello
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!
When we finally call it a night,
We won't be stepping out in the storm,
We'll all sleep cozy and tight
'Cause every room's radiantly warm.
Yes it's true there's no denying,
So my friends, just keep on trying,
Dreams are the star of the show
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!
Dearest DBCoop, I read your delightful poem and you certainly have been feeding us with story, information and ahhhhh the poetry… for years. I fell all snuggly, and want to order a pair of sheepskin slippers, so I can slip shoe to my bed, curl up and dream a DH winter's dream thanks to our dream maker one DBCoop
Thanks for your thoughts, Janzee…and right back to you! Every dream, every insight, every share from every blogger adds to the variety and spice that goes into creating a happy experience on the HGTV blogs. Let the dreams continue — with a little (whole lotta') help from MARY and friends.
Dear DBCoop, may the "dreams' continue as you always say. Let's keep adding the salt and spice that goes into this blog because we sure do put all of our nerve and sinew into this experience, as we are having one huge apple pie lot of fun. Speaking of which tonight at WF, I bought eight huge tart Granny Smith baking apples, some organic lemons and cinnamon. My intention is to make one deliciouso apple pie, maybe different then Marys but worth a try. A put out word at the store, about my experiment,"flourless I said", and suddenly a huge crowd of inhouse bakers, woman who came to shop and these young guys that worked there became part of a Conga line. A gentleman from Jamaica said my new dreds would bring energy to the pie. We were doing this dance down different isles throwing things in my basket, making comments about pie pizzaz. I'm telling ya, there is something to be said about the wheel of group psychology. This one started a dynamo. What happens with the pie tomorrow, remains to be seen, and all said and done, i may throw a touch of shredded wheat on as a layer, even though it is of flour derivitive. I could be a big sneaker peaker.
Wow that's an awesome video. Lots of interesting shots. The recycled bath tub, Nice art pieces, Automation system control used by Jack to dim lights and move shades. There's even a french press to make coffee with…. Thanks for the link.
Who are all those people partying in my house Deerspring? ^_^
I must admit Ed. I was a little jealous to see all those people partying in your house…. When I realized I wasn't invited!!. ; )
If I may . . . Chestnuts roasting on an open fire, Jack Frost nipping at your nose. . . Beverly
Dear Deer you are a Doll! Am I seeing right? When I saw C&E post about the feet being on the clawfoot tub I couldn't believe it. That is what makes the tub have personality. I wonder what changed their mind about the platform. I know I voiced my opinion about the feet staying on to Gail or at least keeping them if the winner decided to put them on. Thanks so much you are a great detective!
Speaking of apple pie! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_Y-2vlOegI&fe…
Ali scroll down because I meant this comment for you and it wound up in the general mail box.
I sure do feel my age, cause I have been to everyone of those places, driven in those cars, rolled the dough, lost some dough, found it though, been on track fast and very slow, know all the people, been to the steeple, spend time at the stables, read Hans Christian Andersen fables, not into labels, rough knuckles will do and soo will chuckles.
Hi Janzee love to read all your posts. You and DBCoop sure have a way with words. All Soney and I can do is be silly and dance like we are doing tonight. Wanted to ask you do you like those Ugg (not sure about spelling) Boots? They seem to be quite the fashion here in Seattle. In fact lately it seems people are really getting into fashion and hats are coming back in style.
Dear ali, I love to read your posts and feel the same way about you. You bring me to the heights of emotion with the selections for comedy, song, images of various parts of the country, and your own thoughts about yourself ,baking, soney boy, and everything that comes to mind. I save alot of your stuff on my desk top. I found some UGGs on Shoe Buy, but have never worn them although I have given them as gifts. The Cali girls wear them shopping, and on the beach at all times during the year. There are a pair of sheepkin Minetonka that I'm looking at– I think the natural fibers are best.
Just thought of a new concept for HGTV. This may occur with homes that have were built by HGTV and still on the market or a new home. This DH is for a "winner short stay", and would be offered with all the benefits of living rent free for a year, then a new short stay winner is chosen. Gifts and prizes are chosen accordingly and there is a cash prize that concurs with the winning.
Nice idea Gracie, but it would be kind of hard to give up one of those beautiful homes after a year in residence, for me.
Hey Georgie, gimme dat cigar. I would live one year rent free, in any part of this HGTV country, as long as there were the cool prizes that went along with the stay. The other suggestion was to allow the winner to do something to improve the property as long as it was approved by the gang. For example, the winner could add a flower box garden, or finish the basement, or add a gable window. Improvements would be and directed by the HGTV gang.
The piano at the DH in Stowe is getting quite a workout. Soney is learning alot of new dance steps and it is hard for me to keep up with him! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HAjeSS3kktA&fe…
Sorry that I haven't been around much the past few days after saying that I was going to be around…I have been volunteering at the USO sorting gifts for the Christmas "adopt-a-child" program…busy days, but a very worthy cause.
Anyway, I checked out the sneak peaks (wait, isn't that cheating)…I love how they did the bunk rooms- I was a little worried beforehand, but it looks really classy…I should have know HGTV would not let me down. I wasn't as sure on the upstairs living room furniture. I'll have to make my final decision on that section once we get the full tour and I can see how it fits together, but right now the furniture looks a little office-like to me…I was expecting something a little more cozy, possibly rustic…more warm and inviting to match the snowy mountain feel…just from the sneak peak, the living room area doesn't seem as inviting as past years. Can't wait for the tour to see how everything truly is.
Dear OurArmyFamily, I think it is fantastic that you are volunteering at the USO. You have alot on your plate right now, and are in wonderful spirits. I pray that your husband is able to call you as soon as he is able to. I'll bet he loves all the new HGTV info that's available. By the way, where is everyone finding this sneak peak info. Is it HGTVpro that is showcasing the rooms already?
Mary- here is a question from past years that has gone unanswered…if the winner of the home takes the cash option, do they still get the housewarming gifts?
Well, if the winner of the home takes the cash option, and they don't get the housewarming gifts, at least they'll be able to afford to buy them all…along with a few other odds and ends!
Good plan Coop, then we'll be sure to get exactly what we wanted. Much like buying your own Christmas present and putting it under the tree. ; ) Something I always enjoy doing, and If I do it at least 3 weeks before Christmas, I forget and I'm usually pleasantly surprised.
Well, you're doing good then, Cami, if it takes you about 3 weeks to forget what you've bought yourself, wrapped, and put under the tree. I'm lucky in that I can put more presents under the tree for myself, all the way up to a week or so before Christmas, and I'll still be surprised when I open them!
Every year, it never fails to happen — but that's because my shopping strategy for gifts is "one for you, and one for me!"
Very true and Cami is right about getting exactly what we wanted…personally, some of my first choices are not front runners. I asked as it was one of those questions that was repeated over and over last year…so, I was hoping Mary could clear it up upfront.
Hi everyone – been away for a while – had surgery again 12/2. Waiting for 12/20 and a photo preview of the new dream home.
Did all of my voting- many of you voted for different options!
Hi Nebraska, welcome back. What happened to Oklahoma?
It was good to look up what has been said since I have been extremely busy with work – 50+ hour weeks since Halloween. Wish I could see the inside of the Lodge but guess I will soon enough. Hope you are all well.
hi joplays–you will really need a break from all the 50 hr. weeks…Sure hope you get one soon….. happy holidays as best u can enjoy..
Hi everyone!! ONLY 8 DAYS TO GO!! Can't wait to see Dream Home 2011 in all it's glory!! "I'm dreamin' of a White Christmas, with every Christmas card I write ….. Beverly =/
I have been extremely busy also, but I always try to pop in to the HGTV Blog to see what's going on.
I love the house warming gifts that will be presented to the winner. I have voted for the tobaggan, the mixer, the fly fishing set, the leater wine carrier, the non-stick pots, Paula Deen pie set, the Quilt, the flag and the party tub! Can you imagine winning this awesome tree home in Stowe??!! There is going to be one happy person to win this beauty!! Beverly :*
I already have the pots! I am looking for a good stainless set!
I still have not figured out what the secret feature could be, but I am sure that HGTV will not let us down. They have always built over the top homes and home features. I know whatever it is… we will be extremely happy! Beverly
So does anyone know what the taxes would be in Stowe, Vermont. I am sure that whomever wins this beauty in the woods will want to surely keep it! You can always find a way to pay those taxes!! hehe Beverly B)
In answer to your question…none of us know exactly as we don't know the value of the house (assuming your are talking yearly property tax). However, here is an article about the tax rate in Stowe for the year: http://www.stowetoday.com/stowe_reporter/news/art…
The value lists $1,500,000 including furniture, artwork, etc…obviously, you can make your guesses on the values, etc…but this is as far as I'm going in the tax conversation- giving you a link.
If you are talking taxes on the prize, it is taxed the same as regular income and you can look up your personal tax rate on the IRS website.
Good luck.
They said it sleeps 14 right well lets see 8 in the ski dorm 2 in the master suite and 2 in the guess room Add it all up you get 12. hmmm so where is the extra2? maybe Secret space above garage
.
No I presume its a sofa bed!
Naw….. Linda wouldn't do that, would she? Not in a DREAM Home, would she?
I think she's done that just about every year in the HGTV dream home.
Here is a quote from one of Deerspring's links:
Woodrum made sure that every room is practical and livable. In the family room, footstools can be used when the family eats dinner in front of the TV, and easily pushed out of the way so that a sleeper sofa can be unfolded.
There is a sleeper sofa in the family room, which I am guessing is where the last two guests can sleep!
Uhhhmmm. I do numbers every day & was reading the prizes rules. the below does not add up unless the car is only worth $1,120 lol.
Grand Prize Winner will have the option of receiving $650,000 in cash in addition to the $500,000 cash prize and automobile mentioned above for a total ARV of $1,151,120.
Good catch Joplay!
unless they are giving away my old car – lol
Or my old truck. I think someone missed $50,000 in their addition!
Maybe HGTV got a really good deal on the GMC Denali? All the less to pay taxes on!
figured someone had already caught this or they take it out of the 1,150,000 – either way – GMC makes a great vehicle – those Denalis are great & their trucks. I know a couple of people who have one of their trucks.
They won't take it out of the 1,150,000 as it straight out says $650,000 plus the $500,000 plus the car…they have to give each…they just goofed on the total value- which the reason they give approximate values is taxes, but that value will vary anyway as to which options the winner selects on the car…the car may be less than the value listed.
So the Stowe Dream Home is worth $650,000? Or is that the alternative amount given?
Extra money = $500,000
Plus whatever the van is worth……. $________.
WHATS THE TOTAL??
The Stowe Dream Home is valued at approximately $1,500,000. The cash option value is $650,000. There is an additional $500,000 cash prize, and the GMC Acadia Denali is valued at $51,120.
If you add the cash option value, the cash prize amount, and the GMC value, the total would be $1,201,120.
By the way, I think the GMC Acadia Denali, which is considered a crossover, is a good looking vehicle. Even the rated MPG is fairly decent.
Although I like my convertible, a GMC Acadia Denali would be nice for tooling around Stowe and environs in inclement Vermont weather.
True Coop. Your convertible might work in Duarte or Stowe in the summer, but I wouldn't recommend a convertible in the winter. Look what happened to the Minnesota Dome yesterday. Those convertible tops don't carry a snow load very well! ^_^
In my favor, I have a folding hardtop convertible, which should carry a decent snow load before imploding! On the other hand, I'm not looking forward to testing out its limits either….
Don't worry about it, according to folks who talked to a previous winner, they've been known to update the values reported on the winner's 1099 forms as often as needed.
Starting to laugh at how many people are posting that their top choices aren't being voted for…it makes me start to wonder if most of the voters are true bloggers…true meaning those who comment rather than just lurk and read.
I am sure you are right Disney. On the blog cabin site the voting would show how many votes were cast for a certain item. There were usually over 10,000 votes cast each day with only about 20 active bloggers.
They also posted the voting notice on the message board- and in the newsletter.
Good news, as some may already know: HGTV favorites John Gidding and Monica Pedersen will be the hosts to take us all on a wonderful room-by-room tour of the Stowe Dream Home on January 1, 2011.
And even more helpful information from the folks at HGTV: some answers and clarifications to frequently asked questions about the Dream Home Sweepstakes.

By the way, for those who need to know —
An interesting read (as I see it) on the "Duplicated Address Labels" comment: 'Printed address labels (that is, anything other than hand-printed/hand written, to the ADDRESSEE — HGTV Dream Home Giveaway — and this is my own interpretation) are considered mechanical entries and are therefore not accepted. Mass-produced entries are not accepted. The RETURN address (your return address, as the sweepstakes entrant, again as I read it) CAN be a stamp or a sticker.'
So it seems to me that entrants need to hand-write the "TO" HGTV address on the envelope or postcard, but the entrants own return address may be a stamp, sticker, or label. I'm good with that.
Postcards may be sent as-is (no envelope required) or in an envelope if the entrant chooses to do so.
Anybody else get the same take on this, or a different interpretation?
I read it the same way you did Coop.
i d k – so i will stick to email. these long hours will probably continue into Jan. So Merry Christmas – Happy Hanukkah – etc – & happy new year 2011 if I don't make it back.
Was in the Christmas Parade in our little town today, It was misty out all day but they had it anyway. Our Church put a little float in. Fun had by all.
This is Bobby Darin's final performance. Somehow we can hear him playing these songs on the piano in the DH at Stowe. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xpSd4pWmnxw&fe…
seen the home with landscaping & all but where is the snow – know that was in Oct but don't we get to see timelapse photos with snow
Thanks for seeking out this link & providing it to all of us for this quick peek into some of the rooms.
With not being in the Northeast, I was curious to what this News 44 could show me. The website offered me news & how things differ from where I live. For example, what is the cost per gallon of gas in VT, NY & NH. Ours here is presently at around $2.75 to $2.80 in GA. Up in Stowe, VT area, it's more & all the surrounding regions too. So that brings in the cost of living differences. Just another thing to be aware of with the changes the winners will have to take on. Costs with living & will they be able to sustain their livelihood with keeping newly acquired dreamhome without moving into it, permanently or not? Then there comes the ultimate of finding jobs for the winner in this new location, an income from somewhere. So much to review & take on with this ultimate win, if this DH home is taken. I can see the winner maybe, this year with forgoing this DH to taking the "cash" option, so not having to deal with all the extra burdens that go with taking on this DH with it's suggested retail prices & taxes for it. Then with trying to change your life & do it over after the fact. To using their newly acquired funds after taxes for purchasing their ultimate dreamhome in the location of their choice that fits them now. Maybe, even staying where they are with rennovations or an addition to their present home. It's even possible that they could work in a deal with HGTV for a ultimate remodel vs $$$.
Who knows, if you can think it, that's the start for unlimiting possibilities.
I could see a new series- ""Turning the 2011 Dream Home Win into MY DREAM HOME!"'
That's how I see it too. It gives HGTV more for the bucks awarded in this on going saga of stories they keep unfolding. It unlimited the posssibilities we can think of.
Woo hoo! Go Big Red, Cornhuskers, ah what a heritage!
Two out of the top ten college coaches of all time means something, #9 and of course #1.
NICE REVEAL!
SuperFan sure got off easy this time.
Maybe she will be filming the "furniture moving in" video for the Green Home instead.
Wish the News videos would have shown the Master Bedroom Balcony door. Or did I miss it.
http://www.hgtvpro.com/hpro/photo_template/articl…
Looked at your posting & is there a balcony as I'm not seeing one? Went thru several of the photo's & I'm not seeing a balcony captured? So what gives with your indication here? I see the floorplans have it well hidden with it's reveal. Which is cool with it's being private.
I did notice on one of the video's on when it was framed, and they were telling about this place. I saw a truck going down a road on the side of the home. So I had to look at that video again, pause it, and take it slowly. There was a big truck going by on road down below thru the windows I viewed. Leads me to wonder how big that road is right there presently & how big it will be in the future? Kind of removes the outback feel being eluded to here with this place. Hopefully, it's not a full on thoroughfare for traversing the area for multitudes of the homeowners, as that road noise all too often along with vehicle headlights at anytime at night would be awful. Removes the serentity to be captured that I would want & hope to have with being in a place like this.
floorplans http://www.hgtvpro.com/hpro/photo_template/articl…
They said it was just a "sneak peek" so I'm surprised they allowed as much to be filmed as they did…
How come some videos say 3,400 square feet and others say 3,000 sq. ft.? http://www.fox44now.com/global/video/flash/popupp…
Is there MORE square footage somewhere?
SuperFan Gail is still MIA (missing in action) or is it…. A.W.O.L. ? LOL http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=5471101&…
Loved how DeerSpring sized it all up…….
" This is what we know about our HGTV friends in Stowe:
Linda Woodrum – She came. She saw. She decorated.
Jack Thomasson – He can not tell a lie. He chopped down a few trees with Brendan O'Reilley.
Sabrina Soto – A little "twitter" told us she was filming in Stowe.
Mary Graff – She and the posse (a.k.a. "The Magnificent Seven") rounded up a first impression peek
and a last impression construction feat for us.
Monica Pedersen – The powers that be changed the game plans and sent Monica in to score a touch-
down on the New Year's Day reveal.
Super Fan Gail – Her Facebook page tells us about studio make-up for her face and shows us John
Gidding's happy face at a local Stowe restaurant.
John Giddings- Mum's the word. He looks like he's having fun in Stowe, though.
OK, that's the line up. Shine the bright lights. The interrogation begins. Linda, what's inside the
DH? Jack, what's in the car barn? Gail, why haven't we heard from you? ……. "
Wowiii great post RJM, although not on facebook I was able to access this pic, and Gail and John look like their having alot of fun. Superfan Gail is beaming, I miss her and would love to see one of her up close and personal videos.
MIA? Does that mean that perhaps our intrepid Super Fan Gail is enjoying a few days of sun and sand in Miami Beach?
AWOL? And Where's Our Leader? Is there a Super Fan vlog coming soon to a computer screen near you? What will be revealed in the coming week? Will we have to wait ALL the way until 20 December to get another peek into the Dream Home? Oh, MARY dear, we promise we've all been so very good. Just one little gift to open early this year? I'm dreaming of (an early) White (and colorful and bright) Christmas from Stowe….
Snowboards in the Car Barn? http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=5473321&…
Cubbyholes for ski goggles in the Mudroom?
Oh My!! LOL Sounds wonderful!
Cool views!! Thanks

What did Mary mean? …..Special Feature!
"………….. I cannot tell you about it – that I have to keep it under wraps until December 20, when the virtual online tour of HGTV Dream Home 2011 launches. But I cannot really help myself. There’s a secret feature – a luxury something-or-other that is just so perfect for the location. I myself was a bit surprised when I visited the home earlier this month and spotted it. No one ever mentioned it. It never appeared in a floor plan that I reviewed. What do you think it might be?
And, no, I’m not talking about the space above the Car Barn. That’s a completely different story."
It could be the indoor doggie dream home in the master suite, or the hot tub in the back of the dream home.
Come on Stone give it up for good measure, we know you know what and where the secret room is. Maybe Gail can shed a little light on this.
I am pretty sure it is the hot tub.
I'm with you Ed.
The hot tub.
WHAT DID MARY MEAN?? …..Quite a Construction Feat….?
" ….. You are in for such a treat when the virtual tour launches in December. I consider one feature of the kitchen quite a construction feat – you won’t believe your eyes! ….."
I think we can presume this is the range hood and how it hangs down from the very very high ceiling.
This whole amazing house is a construction feat, BUT I can't wait for what they have in store for us in this kitchen. Those high ceilings are fantastic. I wonder it that is what she meant.
HOPE the Car Barn attic has devices to learn how to snowski & snowboard without bruises! LOL

Opps! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s259_Aot5aU
WHAT'S the number of that ski school? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sCDbc7d1KdI
That looks soo exciting Stone, even the music reminds me of the kids we knew from the old skate parks. I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is a link to a Burlington Free Press article about the DH:
http://www.burlingtonfreepress.com/article/201012…
And here is a quote about the art in the DH:
All of the HGTV home’s original works were created by Vermont artists, including:
• “Cloud,” a painted steel sculpture by Richmond artist Charles Orme
• Mixed media works by Axel Stohlberg, of Waterbury, and Jon Gregg of Johnson
• Paintings by Lois Eby of Wolcott and Dorothy Martinez of Colchester
• Photography by Peter Miller of Stowe and Gary Hall of Jericho
This is a link to a picture of Charles Orme's "Cloud" sculpture:
http://www.westbranchgallery.com/artpiece.lasso?-…
One of our bloggers provided us with this link to Dorothy Martinez's work months ago:
http://www.greenmountainfineart.com/artist.php?aI…
Good call, whoever that was! (FYI, I took a look at previous posts, and it was LynnCoggin who first suggested the art of Dorothy Martinez!)
Here is a link to some of Lois Eby's works:
http://www.westbranchgallery.com/artistworks.lass…
Photographer Peter Miller took the photo of the Highland cow in the snow seen in one of the video links Deerspring provided, as well as the preceding photo, which is an old Vermont church:
http://www.petermillerphotography.com/#mi=2&p…
There is a little info out there about the other artists as well, but this is getting too long!
Any idea about the intriguing sculpture hung above the Great Room hearth?
I've been looking, but I haven't found anything so far!
An outdoor hot tub surrounded by natural boulders? I'll take that as a welcome luxury feature!
I really hope that the light-colored metal bar we've seen behind the hot tub is a heat source — in Vermont even in the summer the luxury of some heat will be appreciated!
CplusplusE there is sooooo much here to look at and be fascinated with darling thank you thank you.
You're quite welcome, Janzee! I spent all of yesterday baking fruitcakes for family and friends, so I had a little time to look up this info while I waited for them to bake. I think you will appreciate my funny fruitcake story. All three of my siblings love fruitcake but don't know how to make it. On the other hand, I dislike fruitcake, but I have been baking it since I was a freshman in college (a very long time ago, believe me!). I started because my mom also loved fruitcake, and used to buy the cheap grocery store stuff after the holidays for half price. Those things are just awful, and finally I couldn't stand it anymore — I found a good and simple James Beard recipe, commandeered the dorm kitchen, and baked a more wholesome and tasty one just for her. It became an annual tradition, but after she passed away I stopped baking fruitcake. Years later I found out that my siblings had been eating my fruitcake as well, and loved it! I tried sending them mail-order versions, but they informed me that it just wasn't the same. So now I am baking fruitcake again, one for each of my siblings, as well as one for my best friend's husband (who would have thought that there were so many people in the world who actually like fruitcake!). And just yesterday my husband, who always professed to hate fruitcake, admitted that he wouldn't mind eating one if I left out the yucky candied fruit, so I will bake one today with dried cranberries and dates instead just for him! I think the secret to my fruitcake success is the Grand Marnier I soak them in — who wouldn't eat something doused in that fabulous liqueur!
Brilliant, CplusE! As I like to say, soak it in Grand Marnier — (one of my favorites) and 'they' will rave about it! Now you've reminded me I've not a drop of Grand Marnier left in the house. Woe is me! Time to dash out and resupply, and maybe find some really delicious fruitcake too! How lucky your siblings are to have you so graciously bake this special holiday treat for them.
Dear Dear CplusE,I read, I laughed I cried, now ten minutes after reading your Simple Abundance story I still have tears in my eyes and took off my glasses to read again and lo and behold, I don't need my glasses. This is such a beautiful and finely crafted story with a hidden secret that we should all learn about. I am putting it up on the main board to everyone can imbibe in your secret success.
Now that the virtual tour is in full regalia, tell me Stone where did you and some of our great sleuths find the preview. Was it on HGTVpro or where did you find it. I must say that you are in the tip of the top with your research, always laid back but soo right on the money. You have navigated this site with impeccable precision and charm. Thank you for everything this year RJMstone whoever you are.
Hi CplusE, I love your newest postcard, hand drawn perhaps, appaloosa Christmas greeting card avatar. You are TERRIFIC!!!!! Merry Christmas, and you have become an inspiration to my family as I told them recently about your trailride, sleuth and editing skills etc. etc…. Thanks for all of your links. I just read the passionate Burlilngton DH story and noted the comment the builder O’Neill said.
“Winning this is not like winning a paper lottery ticket. This is actually like winning a dream”
Hi gang, I am doing something out of the ordinary, but that's me. Since I dont have my writers blog up, I wanted to reach out to you all in some way and wish everyone a Merry Christmas and blessed New Year, so I went out and bought a phone with prepaid minutes, not registered to me for the purpose of speaking to the blog. If you would like to call, I dont have a greeting up yet, it will probably record in my voice as "Have a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year, love Janzee". The number is 310-926-4718. When you call you can block your number to say a quick hello, and I can say we greeted one another or not mention if you like. After any calls I will erase the call, and my plan is to keep the phone through the New Year, and then the phone number goes back to Beverly Hills Cali or wherever it came from.
Hi janzee I like what you are doing I will be giving you a call when did you say we can call you ?
Oh pixelcho69 that sounds wonderful!!. We're on Pacific Coast time, and it's close to 8 here now. You are welcome to call tonight, or anytime as long as it's not early in the morning as I write much of the night these days and get up a little later. I'll be back in Cali and traveling tomorrow, yur welcome to call it would be a pleasure to say hello in the middle of the desert. Bless!!! Oh P.S. I did put the greeting on the phone although it's a little hard to hear and put something on there about being happy to be part of the HGTV family.
Will call if my throat gets better. Hoarse and scratchy.
"Have a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year Janzee!!"
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year my dear friend !!!!! Please get yourself feeling terrific RJM. To to a health food store or your health food store and get oscillicoccillum. It's a homepathic, and has helped me at the start of a coldy coldy. On the phone situation, got an extra phone for the holidays, thought it wss a good idea, Maybe we can do voice conferencing on the site every now and then in the future.

Merry Holidays To A Blogger! Ultimate & An Awesome Gift
If the winner of DH 2011 is a blogger & wants to do it smart for themselves…we'll do it smart with them or put them in touch with someone that "can". We'll do it masterfully & not MSRP. We'll architecturally design it, stamp it, & build with them "their ultimate DH" from their winnings on their USA lot they buy/choose. An awesome gift! Ultimate personal touches, without crazy spending of MSRP! Why do that to yourself, your family & why settle for less? Blogger needs to have read this posting or have "the idea" of doing it smart. I think a Blogger benefits hands down. The manufacture suggested retail prices (MSRP) is what makes this DH "unaffordable & way more expensive than it's actually worth in every aspect". Who wants to try & recover from that? Move on, & build "your own ultimate DH & that's getting it all, plus all the more you wanted, isn't it? Doing it wonderfully smart in every way. ____
Why pay retail prices anyways, as there's always sales, deals, trades, leverages (get stores to compete for your business) & the art of negotiations. Love It! Car dealers, contractors, & store owners are not a fan of "us" that play the game.
Looking at this picture…it's as easy as "apple pie"
I am a born and raised Vermonter, and I can tell you that the snow shoes, and binoculars are pretty much essentials. The waffle cone maker would be great considering VT is the birthplace of the very decadent Ben & Jerry's ice cream. I am surprised that they didn't decide to include a home brew kit, Vermont is very proud of its many micro brewers and home brewers.
A home in Stowe, Vermont is only for the hardiest of souls, so if you don't like the cold, don't enter!
I'm so excited and thank you for picking Vermont!
..Also that house flag would look perfect on the chalet style home.. just saying
