Step Inside HGTV Dream Home 2011

I’d suggest that you start in the front yard, then make your way through the front door. Tour around the main level (there, you will see the amazing “architectural feat” in the kitchen and the amazing master bedroom), then head downstairs to the lower level. Visit the guest bedroom, the living area and the ski dorm – you’ll find the “secret luxury feature” on the back terrace.

Make sure to watch the exclusive HGTV Dream Home 2011 videos – with Super Fan and show host John Gidding. Then pop back here to tell me what you think – which room is your favorite?

  2. HGTV did an amazing job on this home!!! I live in the Virgin Islands therefore the town the home everything there is so different than what I'm use to. I love the structure and all the amenities of this home and although I've never experienced snow watching the build and seeing the final results of this home makes me want to live and experience Vermont. You guys are great for giving everyone such an opportunity to own such a beautiful home.

    Thank you HGTV!!!!

  4. Not really wild about dorm room and public unisex bath. My adult family members would not find that a fun experience. Maybe if you have college age kids and their friends. Also is there no half bath on the top floor? That means that everyone would have to walk through the master bedroom or go down stairs. Just doesn't seem as well thought out as in the past.

Love the kitchen and the views are quite wonderful.

  5. The master bath is wonderful. I heard a chorus of angels when the virtual tour displayed a toilet separated from the bath area. The views are absolutely breathtaking. The mudroom is a blessing for anyone with messy loved ones. Good luck everyone on the sweepstakes!

  7. This year’s home is beautiful, granted, but if I was filthy rich and could afford a high end house, I wouldn’t go for this one. But I certainly wouldn’t complain if someone gave it to me…. It’s just too focused on a particular interest and lifestyle. It just isn’t every day practical. The dorm would be used too rarely and the space would just go to waste. An actual children’s bedroom would have been much better, IMNSHO. The rest of the house, however, is totaly cool. I just don’t like unused spaces….

  8. What room is my favorite? Well, I'd definitely have to say the ski dorm….and I'm not even a skier!! It's just not something you see in an every day home…only in a Dream Home :) I love, love, love the colors and the fact that you can move the table, pull up some ottomans and play a card game or just get together and chat!
It looks super fun for kids sleepovers too!

    • I like the kitchen. Those microwave, cooling, and warming drawers by Sub-Zero are amazing!

  10. I would love to just spend a week here let alone win it!! Our family has not been on a real vacation now for three and a half years!! My favorite place to unwind and relax is the mountains. I grew up near the Rockie Mountains and love the memories I have of spending time in the mountains. When my son was 16 we had a lot of medical issues with him which drained our savings. The insurance only paid for 21 days of his eight month care. We have no regrets becasue he is doing awesome now!! After having him home for three months my husband got laid of from his job of 11 years. So we have been through this crazy financial time that we are currently in. Unless you are impacted by it you have no idea how hard it can be especially with not being able to find a job. Luckily after almost exactly two years my husband found employment. But now we have to move and need to find income to fix up our house of 15 years to be able to get it to sell. My husbands new job is in a different city then were we are living now. Because I do know how hard these financial times are I asked for donations from church members this year for Christmas for two families in our congregation who are still living through this financial crisis. I was able to have our pastor give each family $240.00 dollars for Christmas. I was so touched by our congregations generosity. Anyway life has been crazy these last couple of years and I would love to just spend a week at the cabin to unwind, relax, and spend some great, much needed quality time with my family!! Beautiful cabin!!

  11. This year's home is exquisite each year I wonder how could it get better and each year I am amazed with how beautiful the new home is.
Congratulations HGTV you have out done yourself once again.

  13. This post asked us what our favorite room is. Mine might seem like not the typical answer. The kitchen, master bedroom, our gathering area. Even though I think all of the house is beautiful I like the ski dorm the best. The reason I like the ski dorm the best is that in Better Homes and Garden magazine June 2006 pg 60 they have a room like the ski dorm. I liked it so much that I tore the picture out of the magazine and put it in my idea or dream book I have. I immediately thought if I ever get to build a cabin I want a room like this. I can image us having grand kids and the grand kids sleeping there and loving it and having so much fun as kids will. So I was excited when I saw the ski dorm in the cabin. It was like my dream coming true in one of the rooms. The ski dorm is also cuter then in the magazine June 2006. I like how they used a bunk bed system for the beds. And it is so useful and practical for a cabin in a ski resort area. And then to think it really through with the dorm bathrooms also. Brilliant idea and I love it!!

  14. I was showing this to my husband. He is a very organized and detailed person. I look and think how pretty the room is like the colors etc.. But he notices everything, wow two sinks in the kitchen. Two set of washers and dryers!! I think he thinks it is cute that I am excited over this house and also that I am entering in the drawing. He thinks it is a beautiful home our dream has always been to have a cabin. And things have been looking better for us lately so it still might be something we will accomplish sometime.

  15. I dream of soaking in the tub with a glass of wine and candles watching the snow fall out the window! What an amazing house. I cannot wait to move in!

holdenhealth on January 10, 2011 at 7:33 am
  16. The mudroom is my favorite! What a great place to contain the clutter, greet house guests and warm them up to the great outdoors in this fabulous Stowe, Vermont location.

This is not just a chance to win a house. This is a chance, however small, to change a family tree. I could easily see the winners, hopefully my husband, me and my family, leaving behind the life they are currently living and taking up a new, exciting way of life. Perhaps starting a new family business like a bed & breakfast, for example, and literally changing their lives & the lives of future generations in their family. This is the real American dream. What a fantastic opportunity that would be. Thank you HGTV for all the hard work, planning & thought that went into this prize! I will be crying tears of joy on the day of the drawing no matter who the lucky family is.

  17. What a nice home. HGTV is awesome. 2011 HGTV Dream Home is spectacular. I can't wait to be notified of being the lucky viewer to have won this place. Would definitely have to have a family reunion there in Stowe, VT. First meal in that marvelous kitchen would be Pancakes, Bacon, and Eggs Sunny side up. I would have to learn how to Ski, Snow Board or something. Also have to check out the fly fishing. My bags are packed and am ready to move in.

  18. What is the name of the office chairs for the dining table? Style and name please.

    lnjones5 on January 10, 2011 at 7:58 pm
  19. After watching the tour on TV, as well as looking through the photos, this is the best yet I think. Just every line is so beautifully done. Absolutely outstanding. OH, and the scenery? I cannot even completely take in how gorgeous that looks. Pennsylvania needs a nice place like that, where every care in your body can just disappear, and be left far far away. I am pretty certain my favorite points to the actual home though are: wonderfully relaxing master bath, gorgeous flooring, and that KITCHEN! Is this not every cooks dream? Gorgeous! Design team is genius! what a house. stay well everyone! silly cold season.

  20. How could we find out what the monthly homeowner fees would be to live in that resort?

dytrpr on January 10, 2011 at 11:49 pm
    • I could be wrong but I don't think this home has home owner fees.

  23. This is just a fun house! It just seems like a place where there is going to be a lot of hustle and bustle and I think that is what I love about it the most. I'm a stay at home mom with little kids and it would be a great place to raise a family and then retire and have them all over to play! Just awesome! fingers crossed!

  24. Stepping inside the 2011 HGTV Dream Home once again, because I DVRd the January 1st show, the kitchen is a dream to come true for the winner. I never knew about refrigeration, microwave, or warming drawers to be possible in the kitchen and the downstairs refreshment center. Sub-Zero is pretty cool ro come up with this space saving idea! For the kitchen,I dream of my wife and I definetly making use of the double griddle on the Wolf stove. I may forget to flip over a couple of the 100 pancakes though. That's ok.That 16 foot vent will catch my smoke!:p

  25. I am so impressed with the manner in which the home "melts" into the mountain scenery. How fabulous is it to have the glowing fireplace to watch while you soothe your bones in the hot tub? Great idea…makes my karma all mellow just thinking about it! From room to room, this is just what the doctor ordered. The master bedroom is so welcoming and the view is gorgeous, but I can honestly say that I wouldn't mind making the "guest master" my master bedroom! I fell in love with that room!

  26. i can already imagine coming home after a long day of snowboarding and cuddling up in the annex with some yummy hot cocoa and a good book. i think my favorite part of the whole house is the beautiful 'cloud-like' art hanging in the annex that you can see from outside. so when you're outside looking in you can see your little piece of heaven.

  28. THE HOUSES ARE ALL SO BEAUTIFUL, I SIGN UP EVERY YEAR. BUT NEVER WIN, WISH I COULD. A COMMENT YOU SHOULD MAKE A HOUSE IN THE STATES WHERE SOMEONE COULD AFORD IT. I WOULD LOVE TO OWN A COTTAGE IN NORTHERN MICHIGAN. I THINK MOST MIDDLE CLASS PEOPLE CAN’T AFFORD THE TAXES ON THE HOUSES YOU MAKE. THINK ABOUT IT!!!!!

  33. I love the kitchen and how it all is opens to the rest of the floor. The down stairs is also pulling at me. The living area is fabulous . I am a mother and a care taker I am at my happiest taking care of my family. Cooking and spending time with the whole family. This house is perfect for the whole family all the grand kids and all my children and friends with there children would be a dream come true. If I would want to just take care of me this house offers this to me as well. The master bath is a good place to melt the days mental and physical ware and tear off of me. I would, after soaking in the tub open my eyes to the scenery out side the window. This is a view which would give me the feeling of peace. I could go on and on but i won't. Wonderful… Please take me home hgtv!!!!!!!

  34. I already posted that my favorite room was the ski dorm. But I thought I would post my next favorite room. My next favorite room is the annex . I like the annex becasue, it is as close as you can get to enjoying the beauty of the outdoors and the awesome scenery of the cabin and still have all the luxury's of home. Right now the luxury of setting in the annex would be that you would still be nice and warm but still be able to see all the beauty of the scenery around the cabin. I can imagine hanging out there for most of the day just taking in the scenery and feeling peaceful and content. I love how the annex room is full of big open windows that lets nature take over that room.

With 6 biological kids and more to come through adoption, the bunk bed room is just adoooooorrrrrraaaaabbbbblllleeee! And TWO super capacity washers and dryers!!!!!!!!!!!! A mother of a large family's dream! Even has room for Grandma and Grandpa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wow! A girl can only dream! Great job, HGTV!!!!!!!!! You raised the bar for our imaginations!

  38. I would have to say my top five favorite spaces in this house are as follows: 1) THE KITCHEN… it's incredible. 2) The masterbath… AMAZING. 3) Call me crazy, but when I saw the laundryroom I swear I heard angels singing. =) 4) The terrace. I mean a hot tub and outdoor fireplace? HEAVEN. 5) The gathering room. Can't you just imagine curling up in one of the chairs next to the fireplace and watching the snow falling past those huge picture windows! I could go on and on and on about how much I love this house, but I'll try not to. I love the unexpected touches of elegance in the chandeliers in the garage and mudroom, and the total functionality of everything even down to the dining room office chairs. This dream house already looks like a home. Pleasant dreaming everyone!

Even though, we will enter as often as we can and pray that we will be the lucky ones to win, And if we are not the ones to win,I hope the winners will enjoy and love this home as much as we would have enjoyed it for the rest of our lives. Good luck to everyone.

  46. Mary,
What a joy to have designed this dream home. My husband has been fighting cancer for one year and we
have 6 children and 6 grandchildren and 3 Maltese, they would love the doggie dream home.
So for now cancer free after chemo and constant care and I dream since our anniversary is on ST Valenintes day and it was 11 years for us that this is our year for good news 2011.
Love the ski dorm and everything about the home, who wouldn't. The outside spa reminds us of our home
here in Florida, our fireplace is inside though. Love the views and we can dream can't we!
I practice, Honey , We won the 2011 Stowe Vermont HGTV Dream Home of a lifetime!!!!!!!
Thank you for sharing your videos they are so great. Jphill
