Design Ideas from HGTV Dream Home
Happy Friday!
Today, Super Fan shares some decorating ideas from HGTV Dream Home 2011. Replicating these looks at home would be a cinch.
Before we get to the video, I thought I’d address some blog questions.
What is the speed limit on the road near HGTV Dream Home 2011?
Speed limits are five miles per hour on Lift Line Drive and 50 miles per hour on Mountain Road.
Can the winner rent out HGTV Dream Home 2011 to vacationers?
Yes. Home owners in Spruce Peak occasionally rent out their homes.
Will there be powder for winter activities when the home is given away in March?
Most likely. Visit UVM.edu to check snow depths at the top of Mt. Mansfield

Mary, thank you for the new post. May your day be full of sunshine!!!
Mary, thank you for answering our questions! So glad to know the winner can rent their Dream Home. HGTV just gets better and better. What an awesome opportunity for the winner.
Thanks for asking that question Lessie. We were wondering the same thing too. Would certainly help with property taxes! I have been daydreaming about this dream home for weeks now. My husband and I recently got married (we're a little older – 35), and are going to be starting a family soon. My brother just had his first, and we have a large extended family. Everyone has had some recent financial hardships due to the economy and jobs (my husband just found out his schedule at work is being cut in half indefinitley), and this would be such an amazing dream come true if we won the dream home. If nothing else, thank you HGTV for giving us something to dream about and look forward to !
If you win the Dream Home, it will indeed be a blessing for you and your family Autumnrosesumm. The best to you!
Does anyone know what happens if the winner is not home for the "ambush" on March 12? Are they disqualified? Or will HGTV try to contact them?
In the past they've tried for a couple of days to contact a winner who wasn't home. The official announcement date is tentatively scheduled for a week later. On occasion they've called, or had a contact call the winner the day or so after the drawing to entice them to be some determined place at some determined time where the ambush occurred.
Don't stress Dana. HGTV spends a great amount of time looking for the winner, even if it means getting assistance from the police. If you're the winner, you will be found.
LOL. Thanks! I know I am unlikely to win but one hopes! I will have my phone on May 12 – hopefully they will call if I win and I am not at home
Never give up hope, Dana! Love your attitude. If you're not home, you may have a police escort to get you there or an escort to get HGTV to you. Enjoy your day!
I have the date added to my cell phone calander already. ( also the day before, for a added reminder) hehe I plan on being home that day already.,, so Ill be easy to find. We welcome the announcment crew with open arms !!
I love being able to explore this house online in the many different formats! FANTASTIC! Mary, thank you for answering questions. Here are a few more if you don’t mind. I can tell that much care has been taken to ensure that the house is air and water tight, as evident by the foam insulation, type of windows and other materials used, but if air is not escaping, how is the house breathing? And what do you do in the summer months to circulate the air? No ceiling fans? And finally, where are the air vents – none in floor or in walls, hydro-air?
Great questions for Mary, Alison. Sooner or later you will have all your questions answered, especially if you're the winner.
There is a heat recovering air exchanger located in the mechanical room to keep the air in the house fresh. You can see a picture of it in the laundry room photos at picture number 11. I also think I saw on HGTV pro that the home uses radiant heat. But alas that doesn't explain how the air is circulated. There is a ceiling fan in the guest bedroom. I can only spot one potential air vent in the ceiling of the Living area, in the back between the barn door and the laundry room entrance. Beyond that I don't know.
Gee David, you have an eye for details. Great response!
Thanks Lessie. I spend too much time touring the home online.
Not a problem, David. A person always spends time with what they love. As for me, seems like I don't spend enough time touring the home.
Thanks David. I've been going back through the photos and double checking myself. There is a ceiling fan in the guest room too. Has anyone lived in a house with an air exchanger?
There also seem to be a covered plate (maybe electrical hook up for ceiling fan) on the ceiling in the master bed
This house is my dream home and I would choose to make it my permanent residence. I have such a large family and many friends that I could host all year. I wouldn't have time to rent it out, especially in the winter, due to our family being avid snowboarders.
Just think USMC1322, if you're the winner of the Dream Home, your dream will come true! You and your family will love living in Stowe.
I think about it every day, my husband works hard for our family, and I pray that we can be the winners. My daschound would be grateful to be able to go on more hikes with us also. The Dream Home hopefully will not be a dream soon for us, but a happy reality:)
Good for you, USMC1322. Are you also prepared mentally and emotionally if you aren't the winner? In dreamland, anything is possible but we must also be prepared for reality. Your reality may be the Dream Home, but there's a possibility that it may not be.
Until the winner is announced, the Dream Home is yours. Enjoy it as well as living in Stowe.
I would not be bent out of shape if we do not win, i have worked hard for everything I have, and so has my husband. Both of us having a military background we believe nothing is given to you in life, but if you work hard it will pay off eventually. It would be very nice to be able to fulfill our dreams.
Dreaming the dream won't be a problem for you then, USMC1322. Continue to dream! It's good that you and your husband are hard workers. Many on this blog are. Each year we dream, congratulate the winner, and return to dream about the next HGTV Dream Home. Glad to know that you'll be making that journey with us, unless you win. If I win, I'll continue on the journey because of all the good people on this blog.
Hi Mary:o) I am praying to WIN so I can pay it forward, with the extra bunks I plan on giving a home to children who do not have one with a family to love them and make their dreams come true:o) It will be GREAT!!!!
What an awesome goal, Delder32. Hope your dream is accomplished whether or not you win the Dream Home.
I like your plan Delder32, good luck to you !!
Mary , love the grouping idea and the black and white is so clean and modern, love going through the house close up with you.
321DH, Gail does an excellent job on the vlogs. She's our Super Fan. We all love going through the house with her, especially when she shows us what's not the virtual tour.
Yes, my husband and I were wondering if you could rent the home as well. So glad that was answered. I am new to this blog and I know we all have dreams of winning this great place! I hear that the date to the winner of this home is March 12th. Is this correct or is this date not set in stone? Boy, our family has had a terrible 2010 and only good can come out of 2011. I know times are tough for a lot of people now,but last year has been our roughest. Diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer last year, have two little ones, under went treatment, struggling to pay bills, and husbands small contractors business is slow ,lost our dog of 12 years in December and just trying to keep positive. So,yes, I am among all of you dreamers.
BCancersurvivor, welcome to the blog! If you're the winner, don't be surprised if you're surprised before March 12th (notice the subject to change clause). 2010 was not a good year for many financially, but you're alive! So happy that you are a survivor. My brother-in-law and sister-in-law both died from cancer recently. So I''m glad you're here with your husband and children. Make many memories and take plenty of pictures. The best to you and your family.
Why would you consider renting it out. Do you have more than one home? I think the house should be given to someone who actually needs it. I'm active duty, when I get out I would love a home for my family, I have three daughters, and my wife is unable to work. We move every three years from house to house but we want a home. For those who are saying, you joined by choice: someone has to fight for our freedom. My family has sacrificed so much and my wife is Ill, I wish I could just have a home for my family.
Tamamoya, usually I'm not this frank but it really doesn't matter what you or I think regarding who should or should not win the Dream Home. This is a sweepstakes. The computer selecting the winner is neutral. Do you complain when the lottery winner is chosen? It has nothing to do with whether the person deserves it or not.
I'm glad you're active duty and I appreciate all you do for this country. My son is also military. I pray that your wife gets better and I do hope you get a home. But does the home have to be as grand as the Dream Home? My son's certainly isn't. We have all made sacrifices and life choices. To tell the truth, very few of us can afford a home as grand as the Dream Home. You may have the means to pay for it without renting it out—that's a very good thing. Me, I can't do that.
I will continue entering the Dream Home sweepstakes, and if I win I will rejoice! No one will ever take that away from me.
I would love to open the home up as a bed and breakfast year round! Yes, the skiing is awesome and winters in Vermont are magical. But, the other three seasons are every bit as wonderful! As a native Vermonter, I have dreamed for a long time of returning to my home state. This home would be the ultimate way for me to share my love of Vermont with lots of visitors!
Hey Vermonter, what are your favorite things to do up there in the non-snow season?
You're absolutely right, Whimsicalgal. The 2011 Dream Home is the ultimate way to share the winner's love of Vermont with many visitors. If you're the winner, it is ideal for you to share your love for Vermont and every blogger will know the Dream Home is in very good hands.
Oh, man, I'd love to win this sweepstakes. This house is amazing.
But, on a practical note:
I'd like to know what the Federal and/or Vermont tax consequences will be for winning.
How much of that $500,000 will be left after the taxes are paid?
What are the annual property taxes on the property?
What will be the cost of utilities and insurance over the course of a year?
What would be the typical daily/weekly/monthly rental for a lodge of this quality? Can you get enough to pay for the cost of the home?
What would the typical charge be for a property management company to attend to the maintenance and leasing it out?
The Dream may be great, but the Reality may be a bummer.
ALL very good questions. Let's hope we get some more of them answered!
Those questions have been answered MANY times on this blog. I'm sure with a little bit of reading, you can get all of these questions answered. As an alternative, if you are too busy to go through the thousands of posts from others, HGTV suggests that the winner will be provided the answers to all of these questions and more, so enjoy the dream for now, and be practical if you are lucky enough to win this beautiful home.
Girardta, many bloggers have speculated on the tax amounts. If you're really interested, please read Mary's Jan 19th post. Scroll through to find comments regarding the taxes and rental rates for homes in the area.
The Dream is greater than Reality because you have more than before financially and you're on the very select and coveted list of Dream Home WiNNERS!
Any idea what property taxes would be on this home?
AvidSkier, some say the taxes will be about $700,000–$800,000. Personally, I haven't checked. Will wait until I'm told that I'm the winner before going through all that math!
Thanks Gail for the idea. I think I'm make a seasonal group of pictures for my wall. I'll replace my profile picture with one of the pictures I take.
GREAT ECO-DESIGN! Who knew birch bark could be so dramatic. Bringing the outdoors in is what this house is all about. I also like the trees that were brought inside to enhanse the decor. Very cool.
You're absolutely right, Alison. I'm loving eco-design more and more. Linda W. has mastered "bringing the outdoors in." She is a gifted designer.
Mary, if the UVM.edu link is correct, I won't see my family during winner's weekend. Yes, they may be around when I get the keys to the home and car, but that's definitely for pictures. I'm sure they'll dump me and head for the slopes. Maybe this is a great time for a mother/daughter weekend trip.
Another Friday to be had, but I'm glad.
The weather is perfect, although I'm not
up there in Stowe either….LOL!
Have a great weekend, yep, all of us B)
PFG, you're perfect wherever you are!
Oh yes, your words are so true, how we must sow, & learn to wheel it in all we want to know
Prosperous we will be in giving, lovingly, but enjoying our lives as they are & currently living
Thank you Lessie, your words are not just a dressy show, but most generous & most giving
PFG, I enjoy your wisdom. True prosperity is indeed rooted in giving as well as learning from and enjoying each stage in our life. So glad you're on this blog.
Well hate to burst any bubbles out there but I have my mind set on winning this home! I am 27 year old young man who will make snowmen all day with my little brothers and sister and when I'm done-off to the Bar BQ! I come from such a BIG ITALIAN FAMILY that we will take up the whole place! And my Grandma (who is the best Grandma in the world) would love to cook some Lasagna in that Kitchen! She would be in her glory. I can see my teenage siblings all fighting over which bunk bed their getting. My mom sitting and soaking herself in the hot tub if we can get her to do something for herself that would be it. My dad would be on the slopes and all our cousins and family would take up the rest of the space. LOL I can see it~Can you? Its wonderful to dream-I'll keep my fingers crossed! JESSE
Jesse, your dreams are as good as anyone's. Enjoy your dream! That's what make this blogging group special.
Hey Jesse!
I LOVE lasagna so when I win, I'll invice Grandma and the whole family for a weekend visit!
LOL! I'm sure we all are dreaming about calling this place home! The name sure is fitting isn't it?!
Hi Jesse, I've been reading everyones blogs and yours just kind of hit home to me the most. I too have a big family, its just been over the years it seems we've havn't been spending a whole lot of time together, which is something I miss dearly. I've been entering the Dream Home Sweeptakes everyday since January, and very excited, I would love to have all of my family their like old times talking, laughing, and eating our hearts away. I've been married for two years now, and I could just picture my husband and I in this beautiful home. I have never won anything in my life, and my husband is very doubtful of the win, and thinks I'm silly for even trying, but if you don't try, you can't win right? lol. I'll keep you and your family in my prayers for winning this, and I hope you will do the same for me. Best of Luck to you! Tamika
The Good Book says "You have not because you ask not". So it IS good that you are asking, mika28t.
And if it is HIS will you will get your dream home. Good Luck! You have just as much a chance and any of us do.
I'm gearing up to cook Emril's Spaghetti Bolognese in the kitchen….
Yes, it is wonderful to dream !
Jesse, I also can picture my large extended family in the house and how gloriously loud it would be. I guess we all can dream, good luck to all of us. I have been entering for several years and have always been dissapointed. So this year I made some personal goals and as I enter to win it is so nice to look at the countdown clock and remind myself of my goals. That way I will feel like a winner no matter what!
What a wonderful son and grandson you must be. My best to you, even though I hope I win! If you do I know I will be thinking of your family all together in that fantastic home.
You visualize this place like I do, Jesse. We have three married children and three grandchildren, and we love getting together, so the Stowe Dream Home would be perfect for us. Plus, I love to give writing retreats, and I can just see the place overflowing with writers, being inspired by the mountains, sharing ideas…while I make coffee cake and pasta and chili in the wonderful kitchen… Even though we live in Kansas, we fell in love with New England a few years ago. Winning this house would give us a home base to continue our exploration of the area.
Sorry Jesse but this 57 year " OLD" lady is going to kick back and enjoy this house with her children, and siblings and their families!! I love to cook and am looking forward to whipping up some great meals after a day enjoying Stowe for family and friends. I can't imagine what a life changing experience this would be, and to get out of the Arizona hear would be great!! Good luck everyone….
Hey Jesse! I am also from a big Italian family! I have very similar dreams about having everyone together in this home. I'm especially in love with the beautiful kitchen!
My husband is in the US Air Force and is deployed often. This house would be a perfect place to get away with my family and friends while he is gone or, better yet, a great place to go when he gets home from long trips away. I am originally from upstate NY and have a lot of family on the east coast. I remember skiing in Vermont when I was a little girl and dreaming of one day living in Vermont. I am currently in New Mexico and desperately miss snow, mountains and trees. I will keep my fingers crossed…
Bubble burst, sorry that home is mine.lol
i am so sorry to inform you that i intend to win this years dream home!! i have 3 very active boys ages 18 and 16 year old twins that would just love this ski in and ski out home !!!! this would make my boys very happy!!! i would just love to win the acadia as well!! my husband has a very very large family with 10 brothers and sisters and i have 2 brothers as well!!! this home would be perfect for family getaways!!! my fingers and toe are also crossed!!!
mary beth
What I found interesting in this post, besides the photo grouping, was the way Gail's voice echoed. Must be all the wood, but there seems to be a sense of a large space. Acoustics must be great at the bottom of that stairwell, which would probably be three stories from bottom floor to the top of the ceiling.
Like your profile picture, Stephen. It's quite dramatic!
Thanks. Used it for quite a while. It's from a wallpaper designed for the musical group Evanescence. Used their album Fallen as inspiration for the last book I wrote.
Awesome! What's the name of your book, Stephen? Will check it out.
it's not published yet. needs a serious rewrite first. thanks for the thought, though.
No problem, let me know when it's published. Are you associated with the group or just a follower? Checked out Fallen. It seems to have been their best album. Too bad Amy and Ben couldn't maintain a good working relationship. Hope Ben is doing well and just as successful, especially since he's a co-founder of the group.
Just a fan of the group. No association.
You're the kind of fan any group would love, Stephen.
My favorite song by them is "My Immortal"
That's one of my favorites, too. Though they're all good.
It wouldn't be a good idea to be yelling and screaming in the house – the HGTV Dream Home would yell back at you!:p
Brings up an error Linda made-due to the acoustics, the house is not suitable for small dogs with loud, high-pitched voices. The winner would end up with a splitting headache in no time.
I can imagine playing a guitar and singing in there. Probably sounds awesome.
Interesting observation. I'll have to go back and check on that.
Great idea with the pictures of trees, I also think it would be nice to have pictures arranged like that but black and white photos of family, that would make it a little more personable and homely than just pictures of trees.
Thanks for the info and answers to questions. The more you answer the more we can dream.
Thanks Gail for another up close and personal look at the DH. It is nice to know that homes in the general location of the DH can be rented out. Was that one of Coops options? Guess I'll have to go back and review the options as he presented them to us!
Aha, one of the first things that caught my eye was in MARY's commentary; that's regarding the 5 mile per hour speed limit on LIFT LINE DRIVE. I was waiting for that street name to surface, and there it is!
My other question would be: what's the top speed allowed descending Nose Dive?
As to the framed photos Super Fan Gail pointed out to us, I find them intriguing, though I'd tend to personally lean towards the idea of a framed grouping of various sized, shaped, and colored pinecones. I think that would be really interesting and appropriate for the Stowe Dream Home.
"What's the top speed allowed descending Nose Dive?" Too funny Coop. Sure wouldn't want to personally experience it.
I love texture, so pinecones would be great and just think of that wonderful smell….. And, you can take them off the wall to add to the fireplace to intensify the aroma……. The descending speed for me heading down Nose Dive is 0….. I can't even ski down the bunny hill without getting hurt… and I have tried and tried… So, cross country is the way to go and when driving in the car, I will wait to leave in the Summer… hehe…..
Great strategy Renee loves and lives green–cross country when driving in the car.
I tried cross country-kept ending up on my butt in an ice puddle. I would go for gondola rides, then head back home for hot cocoa.
Another idea for pinecones is to dip them in cinnamon-scented red wax, then arrange them in a basket with a decorative bow.. Toss them into a wood foreplace to use as kindling. Makes a nice inexpensive gift, as well as making the house smell nice.
I saw the reference to Lift Line Drive, too. It's not on Google Maps, but that's to be expected if it's a new road. It must shoot off from Ski Club Ln, very close to the lodge. I like how Mary just casually sprang that street name on us, don't you?
Yes, Wyo_Girl, it could be an offshoot from Ski Club Lane…but I've been curious ever since I read awhile back that the Stowe Development Review Board in June 2010 approved a request by Spruce Peak Realty LLC to subdivide a lot at 211 Liftline Drive into four buildable lots.
My thinking goes like this: a request in August of 2008 was approved, again brought by Spruce Peak Realty, to bring the acreage and existing lodge at 138 Ski Club Lane into the overall Stowe Mountain Resort Ski PUD. With plans subsequently confirmed for the HGTV Dream Home, and the old ski lodge torn down, could the name of Ski Club Lane have been changed (after all, no longer being a ski club there) to Liftline Drive? I wouldn't be surprised at all if that's what came about.
Just a thought.
I agree with you ti seems plausible
Have you been to Stowe, Vermont COOP? That's alot of information.
So, seeing the street name was changed to LIFT LINE DRIVE, does that imply that a possibility that a ski lift will be along this nice street in front of the HGTV Dream Home? That would be handy. There is that huge empty plot of land (right of the 2-car garage) out from the Master Bedroom balcony.
Lift Lane Drive must mean something.
They didn't call it Shady Lane!
So what's the surprise Jack?
By DBCoop, I think you've got it!!! I replied on one of the old blogs that it would be awesome to have a "framed" history of the old lodge that seemed to vanish in the process of building the HGTV Dream Home..Although I did not see one, it would make an awesome "welcome" gift presented to the owner upon winning….Just saying……..hint hint….;)
There is a peek of the old Ski Lodge here…….. go way back to the oldest video on the right (keep clicking the right arrow until you get to the last one).

Can see it here also……

Thanks for the photo grouping design tip super fan. Looking forward to your next report….
I wish they gave us something new in the blog – this video has been on the website for a while now………..
Well maybe we'll get another new post soon, CAP57. This video is new to me. Got so much catching up to do.
Oh, I hadn't seen it before today. I think maybe I won't look for other videos on the website, as they may but those on the blog as well. I remember last year they did that with the 2nd washer/dryer and the casita video as well.
Right you are, Wyo_Girl. Sometimes the videos are featured simultaneously on other HGTV webpages in addition to the blog, as well as at different times.
As for this video from Super Fan Gail, I hadn't viewed it before either, so count me in as one more happy camper.
In any event, I suspect MARY has much more up her editorial sleeves coming soon to a screen near you.
My daughter just got married in July and I did a photo grouping just like this with some of our precious family photos. It looks great and I find myself stopping just to gaze upon them as I pass by. They will look good in the dream home too LOL. Can't wait to see who wins! Pick me ,pick me!!!
diitto, ditto
(that's for the "pick me" — my daughter didn't get married, yet
Yes, this is a great idea too! Are the photos in black and white? Great design tip.
I just wanted to say that im very excited about the dream home this year, it would be so amazing if my gf and I won. We have known each other 10 yrs and were best friends and until this past fall when we finally became a couple, now we are talking about marriage and kids and this home would be the icing on the cake..did i mention my gf loves to skiing and was born in VT many moons ago lol
just an fyi so pick us for this dream home it would make her dream come true wink wink
Gotsya….. guy! Enjoyed your 'speak'. LOL
gf = girlfriend
fyi = for your information
Hope ya have fun skiing and dreaming. We all do!
Hi I was just reading everyones blogs and decided for the first time to log on. I am also very excited about this years dream home. I have entered every day. My family vacationed in Vermont last summer and fell in love with everything and everyone. Our dream is to move to Vermont when we are able. Then I found out that this years home was in Vermont and have been crossing my fingers ever since. We lost our home this summer and have been living in a basement apartment, 5 people and a cat, 1 window, 1 very small bathroom, 3 boys in one bedroom and our room has no door. We are making the best of it. But I dream of more room, windows and space. So that is why my fingers are extra crossed!!!
Welcome to the blog, ASP3. Glad you decided to join us. Did you visit the Stowe area when you visited Vermont last year?
So sorry to hear about you loosing your home. These finical times have been tough on a lot of people and unless you go through it you have no idea how hard it is. We were also impacted by it so I feel your pain. Hope things turn around for you and your family soon.
I have entered each year, hoping this is my year, but if not I will be just as excited for the person who wins this home. What a beautiful home. I have already planned my 1st meal in the home, the kitchen is to die for, the designer went over board. love it!!!!!!!
Oh how perfect would winning be? My parents (who live here in New Mexico) are up in New Hampshire the first week in March meeting my brother and his family (who live in Eastern Canada) for a ski vacation. I am a high school teacher who has spring break during winner's week. Just thinking that we can all meet there when I win:) Isn't dreaming great???
Dreaming is great darbydawn, so keep on dreaming!
Gail…. another wonderful job! I love all of the info that you and Mary are suppling us…… I am still trying to catch up but, have fallen in love with this year's home. My son would go crazy in that Bunk Room! I can see him putting on many a show in there, from card tricks to reciting his latest play! I love the guest room and the master bath!! Love life by living green and having a dream!!
Hey girl, welcome home it is fantastic to see and hear from you. By the way you put me on a course which I feel should be mentioned on the main board about finding more "living green opportunities". Stay tuned.
Hey Janzee……. I can't wait to catch up with you!
You far surpass anything I have done on the eco trail. I would like to say that I admire what you've doing in your community with orgainic food for children at schools. Months ago, I told a congresswoman about you, and she felt your program was worth looking into. So many of them have such a full plate with the world situation, but I think this constuct of yours is worth creating a written proposal or program that others can benefit from.
Janzee….. I just went into your ID account and could read through your posts. Also, am now following you, which I thought I already was… strange. I was able to pull up my posts on ID from the the first day that HGTV linked us with them. There are over 400 pages…….Wow! How have you been, my friend? I have been a little busy, volunteering at the school and helping my son experience all that he is so interested in. He did a play before Christmas, where he played Eeyore and a skunk… I asked him, why did you pick Eeyore and he said "because I wanted to be gloomy, the opposite of what I am." Too cute!
Oh how precious! … Was the play based on stories about Winnie-the-Pooh? When my daughter was in elementary school, I also was a parent-volunteer; it was a very rewarding experience and I have so many cherished memories. I'm happy that you are back and are able to post again. Borrowing one of Eeyore' expressions, "TTFN … Tah tah for now!"
It's soo enjoyable to read your posts Both_sides_now, as what comes through is a verry child centered person who shines with the inner child within.
reneelovesgreen your son is a brilliant kid. How fascinating that he can observe characters and just try on for size another persona. The best place to be is in the hallways of your son's school, you sort of get a pulse there and at any moment you know exactly what is going on as a volunteer. I know how much you must love it. I'm going to check in tomorrow and give you an update about the last few months.
I fixed it!! I had to go into my settings and remove the WordPress account that I never finished setting up. Alles gute! Thanks for alerting me. :*
You are the best, we have all missed hearing your voice. I knew something was up when I started clicking on random new folks just to see if their accounts came up. When I went to your ID, it wouldn't open, that's when I figured it out. Every now and again, I will check on others to see.
Hi reneelovesgreen, I put out an all points bulletin for you yesterday, and if the situation isn't fixed. I'll write to Intense Debate. It seems that some of us can't access your former posts. I even went back to the archives. The same thing happened to me last year and the gliche is quite indiscriminate. If you are able to see my posts please let us know, or post to us and tell us what we can do on our end. Love Janice
Hi Janzee, I sent post to reneelovesgreen, so we'll see if this goes through to you also. It shows up on the site so if you can't retrieve it, not sure what it could be.. My tech guy said there were minor malware "thingys" on my computer, but nothing serious, so not sure where they came from but I think so much traffic lately may have contributed, but who knows. Everything has been fine since I got the computer back, and have been using ONLY Google Chrome. Let me know if you get this. LOL MKS
Dear MeKhazSimi, friend, fellow writer,I sure did get your post. My concern for our wonderful and loved renneelovesgreen, is that her former posts are NOT available. When you click on her name, you can't access them. She is posting, but I dont think she is able to respond back and forth due to this thingermerbopperr gliche–maybe. I'm going to send Intense Debate a little note tomorrow and ask them to check it out. Cami went through this months ago as well.
Me rennee is up and running again. I am sooo happy !!!!!!
Hoooorrrayy!!!! Me too. Sun shines on the blog again!!! LOL
Wow…… that's strange….. I will check to see if I can read through your posts and I will let you know…… Much love back.
It's fixed my dear friend. I clicked on your name a moment ago, and everything is copesetic. Earlier I wrote to Intense Debate and received a reply back from a dept. unaffiliated with computer issues. Check on it once in awhile to make sure that the body of information that you've blogged is still here, and not in computer land.
Hi reneelovesgreen, Janzee just emailed me and asked me to send a post to you. She can't retrieve any posts from you and she wants to see if one from me goes through. You might try to send one to her and see what happens. Thanks MKS
Thank you MeKhazSimi!! I am getting email alerts from you guys, but hadn't been able to respond until today…… Hope all is wonderful!
Hi reneelovesgreen, I'm so glad all is well on the blog posts once again. I've always enjoyed reading your wonderful insights into living green, and I've learned a great deal from them. We're all happy you're posting again LOL MKS
I love this home, my favorite the ski dorm and its bathroom. Life woould be so much easier with this house. My husband and I have adopted six children most of them have special needs. We would live there for sure. Can't wait to watch it on HGTV tonight WOO HOO!!
Is there closet space in the ski dorm?
Good for you stilladopting. The wife and I adopted 7 special needs kids.
Kids are great! I wouldn't trade them for anything, not even a two million dollar prize in VT. That is great that you and the wife have adopted also. Take care and enjoy life.
I didn't know that about you Edin. Bless you for the giving of your life to others. That must be why you are so sweet and cranky! HA! LOL
There is a small closet just outside the dorm room adjacent to the numbered pegs. You can catch a glimpse of it in the 90-second interior video as well as in 1:20 "A look at the Ski Dorm" video given by Monica Pederson. Wish we could see inside the closet as I was wondering whether it contained multiple shelves or a fixed closet rod and overhead shelf. It sounds like this dream home would be wonderful for your family!
Mary, love the pics! Thanks for the close up. I was trying to zoom into the pics in the Master and Guest bedrooms when they first posted the videos, but I couldn't make them out. I'm a lover of black and white photography and have several similar pictures in my own home and at the office to include some Ansel Adams and my favorite, the spiral staircase in the Rookery Building in Chicago. Just one more reason why this house was made for me. :0)
Oh, and I've got to say it…It's snowing, it's snowing…yea! it's snowing!!! Love the snow!
According to the rules, the winner is announced on March 12th then travels to the Dream Home on winner's weekend April 14-17. The UVM.edu snow schedule shows snow on the slopes in May. What a great time to tour the Dream Home and visit the Stowe community.
Once again, just my luck, Lessie. I wonder if HGTV will let me travel to the Dream Home for the winner's weekend a few days later than 17 April? Otherwise I'll have to fly back from Europe earlier than planned. Sheesh, you'd think HGTV would consider my schedule before setting the dates and forcing me to cut my vacations short time and again. After all, let's get our priorities straight…. ^_^
Too funny Coop. When you're standing next to Jim Samples, waiting to announce the blogger and message boarder vehicle winners, take advantage of the opportunity and tell him your schedule and also your preference for the next Dream and Green Homes as well as the Urban Oasis. Make sure you stress the wisdom of having an HGTV property in Hawaii.
PS Coop, you can always go BEFORE your trip to Europe and HGTV can televise your visit at its regularly scheduled time. If that doesn't work, please tell HGTV I'm available to represent you during winner's weekend if you can't make it.
March 12th, right after my husband's B-day — now, t h i s would make an excellent gift !!
If your husand wins the Dream Home, it will probably be the best birthday gift he will ever receive, Jonihalvorson. Enjoy the dream!!!!
thanks for the info, I'll mark my calander!!!
it snowed here, we had some sledding and we all thought of Stowe!
We got over a foot here. There are snowmen everywhere! Wonder if Stowe has snowmen, since they have it more frequently? I've seen them with buckets, carrots, pinecones, and parrots. A real treat on the drive to work!
Where are the closets?
I asked the same question. When you view the video on the master bedroom you can kinda see it.
Mary, how great an idea for pics! I thought also about blowing up a picture and spliting it into four frames, without matting…
I lived near Stowe, but closer to Burlington, for a few years. I miss the countryside and the people. Most of all, I miss the burch trees! Anyway… the roads are appropriately marked for traffic and speed. Going downhill is the same speed as uphill on Nose Dive, where do you think it got the name? However, the transportation and maintence department keeps the roads clear. Stowe is very people and safety friendly. Thanks HGTV and DH for this opportunity!
I would like to know about the master bedroom closets; are they walk ins? his and hers? what????
There is one walk in you enter at the right if the bed one old wood pocket door and one reach in walk in with double door when you enter the room. They don't show picture of the inside.
I wish they would just show us the inside of them. All of the clossets actually, the guest and the ski dorm. I'd also like to see inside the closet near the laundry room and inside the mechanical room. It is driving me crazy.
Check out Deerspring's post for a photo that John Gidding took inside the mechanical room.
I had to go back and double check this. I thought there were two closets, one on either side of the bed. But looking at photo 18 of the master bedroom series, it shows it as a pocket door leading into another room or space between the masterbdrm and kitchen, and shows a double door closet in that space. Take a look at the video for that room too and let me know what you think.
zuludog is right. Some people who took the tour confirmed that there are two closets, although neither is that big.
Someone sent me A Test for Old Kids. Thought I'd share it with fellow bloggers–in case you need something to do on a Friday night.

Need to finish the test, Both_sides_now. This time, no goggling.
Lessie you are so funny. What a great teacher! You sure taught Both_sides_now not to cheat on a test!
I wouldn't necessarily call it cheating, Alicesoneysmom. It's more like refreshing one's memory. Now if someone refreshes their memory more than five times, that's cheating!!!
Hey you thanks for including me on your follow list. P.S. I knew Roys Stallion, I guess that really dates me. I'll tell you a story about the Roy Rogers Apple Valley Ranch sometime. I told it to my dear friend RJMstone. We are and will always be kids at heart. I guess that makes us kids right/
Yep … it's sooo good to be back! This is always the time of year when my spirit needs a lift and everyone here is a ray of sunshine of peeking through. I really love this blogging community! I so appreciate all of the wonderful people involved in the creation of the dream home … How they manage to pull it altogether is pretty amazing. It just shows the level of commitment behind the scenes at HGTV …The Dream Home just keeps getting better and better every year and it never fails to inspire me to raise my own creativity to the next level …!

Hi Professor, a bloggie by the name of Lucyourdog, would like to contact you about your animal whisperer and code cracking talents. Herewith is our most recent conversation. Say you must have at least 1oo messages from everyone.Lucyourdog said:
Hey Janzee, so happy you could include your little pipsqueek in the doggieworld!! Would she or he by any chance know the famous dog code?? I will certainly try to reach RJMstone to see if I can get a few updates!! Thank you!! Lucy would really much like to contact RJMstone. But how do we do that???
Janzee said:
Lucyourdog, the part I missed last week, was info about this "code" phenomenon. Do you mean, what Jim Samples may have meant when he excitedly exclaimed "Oh wow, I've never been there ". Or could the code have to do with dog speak, and the utterance of one of the names of a bloggie winner? One way or the winnere RJMstone is a code cracker for sure, is a an animal whisperer, and has been one fine famous blogger on this HGTV site for as far as I can remember for a year and a half or so. Professor Stone may be traveling, but if you put a call to the wild, you may see the professor shortly. DeleteReport Reply

Hey, the Derry Brownfield show closes with Roy Rogers and Dale Evans singing "Happy Trails". Love it! http://www.derrybrownfield.com/listen.html
http://www.gcnlive.com/mediaPlayers/odPlayer.php?…
WOW…. must hear this. Red alert. All our govenors are giving China 257 "foreign trade zones" here in USA so they can build businesses here in our USA quietly !! (why aren't we supposed to know????) China is building their own city there near the Napta Superhighway! Idaho is getting some right away. Wonder who the Chinese plants here in USA will employ?????? ( Hold on to your hats…. we are in for a bumpy ride!) Kansas City Airport will be the center (tolls?) of the Napta FreeTrade Super highway! China is DEMANDING how we do this as per WallStreet Journal! Holey Moley!
WOW…. says the "New World Order" (One World Government thats been telling the countries what to do) is telling our USA Pressidents what to do. Godd help us one and all.
Wise up friends.
Darn Globalists, they have a plan working to ruin USA as we know it. Bilderbergs and Club of Rome must see all this as a huge BOARD GAME!
Their plan "By Design" is almost complete…. we shouldn't let them do it to us! See what's going on with the power shutdown in Texas, except for the Football Dome… they have power I hear. Heard even the hospitals don't have power. Many power plants being built right over the border in Mexico. Plenty more going on all over!!!!! Holy Cow! They are trying to get help from their governor Rick Perry!
Housing prices are down. Chinese workers could buy them cheaper now. How convenient. By design???
Taking over USA without firing bullets????? Worrisome!
Same thing going on in Canada! Nafta Super Highway path is China's path.

EV…. Rhode Island has given much land too for the Foreign Trade Zones.
The Nafta Super Highway will need railways too.
Wow, JP Morgan is buying Railroad stock.(heads-up) Should we follow suit??

This is worldwide ….. free trade zones for China http://www.escapeartist.com/ftz/ftz.htm
Manitoba International airport will also be a huge inland huge port for China for truck, rail, airport, and shipping hub.

RJMstone, how in the world did you transition from Roy, Dale and Trigger to a red alert about our governors giving China 257 foreign trade zones?
Well…. I was sharing the link for the Derry Brownfield show that plays Dale and Roy Rogers singing the show's closing song of "Happy Trails". So while I was at that website I was listening to the January 31st. podcast of the show.
HELLS BELLS! ! ! I couldn't believe all the true info I was hearing about the Free Trade Zones given to China that are in each of our own USA states!!

RJMstone, I'm sure you already know that I'm using this as part of your legendary character.
Lessie, these155 plus reply posts have to be setting some kind of record!!!! Have you read these in one long reading session all at one time? It's awesome!!!! They've gone from the New World Order to Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, and the Chinese Trade Agreements, to the Lone Ranger carrying car keys, and listening to the William Tell Overture, to Ed becoming a Legend in his own time!!!!!!!!!! This posting deserves it's own publication. Oh, this is so great—-and—-this is why I can't help myself—-I've totally acquired an addiction to this blog. Lots of LOL MKS
MeKhazSimi, you made me laugh. No, I haven't read these comments in one session, BUT I loved the way you summed it up. When I read your comment, I automatically pictured you in Alice's Restaurant. Just consider yourself tagged.
Yeah, Lessie, it put a smile on my face too. I think you should become the publisher of this monthly edition.. Can't you just see it stacked on the counter at Alice's restaurant? LOL
MKS, I think that's your legendary name or Me. Me's the name you received from BCoopernova. As soon as I finish this project, will begin BCoopernova's legend.
As for the monthly edition stacked on the counter at Alice's Restaurant, every blogger spends time compiling it.
Why are you showing up as deleted with a number? Are you still MeKhazSimi?
Can you believe I got them all right, Lessie, except for the very first one about what the Lone Ranger left behind. I answered "his car keys." No wonder he was always on horseback.
LOL! Car keys?! I'd sure like to know where he inserted those car keys. As for getting the correct answers, I'd say you're seasoned. In fact you're well seasoned, that's why we love you.
I my gawsh that was a good one Coopy. That brought tears to my eyes. Guess I always pictured the Lone Ranger riding home on his trusty steed.
I guess I qualify as and oldster Lessie. I remembered them all. I always like Tonto better than the Lone Ranger though. I always enjoyed the last part of the William Tell Overture in the show. I think that show is what started me liking classical music.
Ed, you're not an oldster. You're seasoned. In fact your love for Tonto and the William Tell Overture makes you well seasoned. It doesn't get any better than that. Haven't you noticed all the love the well-seasoned bloggers receive? Welcome to the beloved bloggers group.
How bout spicey Lessie. Eddie is pretty darn spicey!!!!!!
Ed–spicy? I have to think about that Janzee. Adventurous comes to mind but so do tenderness and gentleness. Looking through windows–now that may be a little spicy! Sorry bout that Ed!
No your not Lessie! ^_^
You gotta admit Ed, that was too good to pass. Blame it on Janzee.
Right Lessie. Isn't that kind of like saying the devil made you do it? ^_^
It worked for Flip Wilson. Thought I'd dust it off and renew it…..sort of like keeping in green.
Oh my gosh Lessie Flip Wilson was a true classic! Thank you! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0SLifea3NHQ&fe…
As usual Alicesoneysmom, what a great video!!! That's what I was trying to tell Ed, some opportunities are just too good to pass. Thanks for another great journey down memory lane.
love you lessie
Love you too, Alice.
PS Ed would also probably like some good Rodney Dangerfield links also, Alicesoneysmom. We need our legendendary hero to know his true status and not revert to Rodney's way of thinking.
Thank you Alice. I remember seeing that show live on TV. It's hard to believe that was over 40 years ago. Oh well time flies when you're having fun!
It's hard to believe the Flip Wilson show aired 40 years ago. But I'm sure your math is correct Ed because Super Legends don't lie.
LOL You're having way too much fun with this Legend stuff Lessie!
I'm just getting started Ed. As long as Janzee keeps it up, so will I!
Alicesoneysmom, as you're traveling, if you happen to run across a good version of the Coasters singing Charlie Brown, would you please send the link to EdinOregon? I'm sure he would appreciate it
Lessie, a folk legend is beginning to emerge. So about our EdinOregon, he is an adventurous, gentle and oh so tender guy, but he doesn't do spicey windows? That's how folk heroes are anyway. Next thing ya know he will have a blue ox by the name of Babe, and be planting apple seeds in none other than Stowe.
Too funny Janzee? "He doesn't do spicey windows?" Adventurous, gentle, oh so tender guy with a blue ox by the name of Babe, who desires to plant apple seeds in Stowe. I think the last part needs to be changed b/c Ed wants to stay on the West Coast. Also need to add other descriptors–7 feet, robust lumberjack (towns people referred to him as being greater than Paul Bunyon), who was completely fearless of frigid weather because legend has it that the fire within his passionate heart immediately melted snow and ice, and was greatly loved by all, including animals–even the fish fought with one another to be the first to jump into his net.
Can you think of anything else Janzee? Might as well make Ed a super legend. Hope his wife doesn't read this.
This is so funny Lessie. that I had to put my pants on ye old clothes line outside whist I listened to ye spinning yur yarn. Now, back to our Eddie, who has become a little larger than life, at seven foot tall, he could have his own Stowe basketball team, and maybe gorsh be in two places at once- east coast west coast all around the town that's how those foci heroes are. He's even beginning to sound like one of those r o m a n ce characters, with that fire and ice, and who knows what!! He might even stop off at the neighborhood coffee house to shoot the breeze at a place like Alice's Restaurant, in Stowe. Wonder if that exists? By the way yur hired, you could be my editor any ol day.
Oh my goodness, JZ gal and Lessie … You ladies are on a roll! This is sooo much better than Saturday Night Live … Thanks for the fine entertainment and the laughter!
This blog is as entertaining as any, Both_sides_now. See what happens when imagination is freed? We can come up with all kinds of lies….oops, I mean stories.
Alice's Restaurant sure does exist Janzee. It's round the corner from the Dream Home. In fact, I was there yesterday. Alice asked about you and several others on the blog. When she mentioned Ed, she placed her hand on heart, sighed, and said, "Now that's what I call a man. The last time he was here, he cleared a pathway in the woods behind me, gave me a year's supply of fresh moose meat for the restaurant, won all the outdoorsmen contests, and captured my heart. What a man, what a man, what a man." I thought I would have to revive her but she didn't swoon. I'm beginning to think Daniel Boone is Ed's cousin.
In the story line, there is always a damsel in awe of the folk hero. She might even have a guitar, and be strumin, about Ed, aka, Babe, or Daniel or EO, or you can call him. Well just call him for goodness sakes at Alice's Restaurant with the good news, and we'll clean those darn spicey winders.
Too funny Janzee! By the time we finish with Ed, he will be giving us thumbs down. Since that's a possibility, we might as well make him a SUPER LEGEND! Do recall all the fables your grandmother told you and add them to the legend.
Janzee you just brought back something I had forgotten about. When I first joined the Army there weren't very many women. Some men didn't like women in the Army and would tell me you won't last here very long but most men were very kind to me and made me feel welcome. I was pretty tough in those days and could take care of myself but they made sure nobody messed with me. Anyway they would out of the blue gather together and sing this song to me. Wow what memories! http://il.youtube.com/watch?v=ePC-oplZNA8&fea…
I can just see that gaggle of guys singin around their alice. It takes a strong woman to set those guys straight, but they must have been sweet hearts. In the words of Jimmy Durante, "Whadda story Alice", or was that Jackie Gleason? whadda story…andd you can bring anything you want including Soney, or utube videos, or a comedy routine, a few whipped cream pies, some aged Vermont wine for celebration. Looks like Ed has a year's supply of moose meat for Alice's restaurant as per Lessie's folk legend. I'll bring nut cheese pies and Paul Newman style cheese cake if you win.
I think Jackie Gleason used to say with great regularity "One of these days Alice, one of these days, pow Zoom right to the moon." The nut cheese pies sound great! I wish I still had some Moose Meat left.
One of these days! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lEAOGZwmIhA&fe…
It's great to have those types of memories. I am happy for you Alice! I always liked Johnny Cash singing that preparationH song – Ring of Fire. ^_^
Tried to access the link but couldn't, Alicesoneysmom. Will try again later. If you recommend the video, I know it's good.
When you find those links for Ed, Alicesoneysmom, please place them in your response to Ed's comment below. Thanks.
Loved the video Alicesoneysmom! I do believe there's a sign above the entrance saying, "You can get anything you want at Alice's Restaurant."
You are our Youtube Video Queen, Alicesoneysmom! Thanks.
The song was deleted here is another one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gi4F7hpR7z4
Why is everybody always picking on me? I don't get any respect!
Ed, you ain't Charlie Brown. Neither are you Rodney Dangerfield. Janzee has promoted you to legendary status and it's on. Your life will probably never be the same once we add to it. Tell your wife to jump in and add to the stories.
Looka this, I didn't even read your post, and then jumped in to take a look at what you said. Uh oh, we're beginning to think alike.
Just goes to show how much we're alike, Janzee.
Okay Rodney, Eddie, Georgie, Eden, Daniel Boone. You are a folk legend tooste, not the brunt of comedy…mmmmm.
Either way Janice I can handle it! ^_^
Good Ed. Folk legends are supposed to be able to handle anything that comes their way. I love molding your legend.
Here's something esepcially for you Ed:
THE COASTERS
"Charlie Brown"
Fe-fe, fi-fi, fo-fo, fum
I smell smoke in the auditorium
Charlie Brown, Charlie Brown
He's a clown, that Charlie Brown
He's gonna get caught
Just you wait and see
(Why's everybody always pickin' on me)
That's him on his knees
I know that's him
Yeah, from 7 come 11
Down in the boys' gym
Charlie Brown, Charlie Brown
He's a clown, that Charlie Brown
He's gonna get caught
Just you wait and see
(Why's everybody always pickin' on me)
Who's always writing on the wall
Who's always goofing in the hall
Who's always throwing spit balls
Guess who (who, me) yeah, you
Who walks in the classroom, cool and slow
Who calls the English teacher, Daddy-O
Charlie Brown, Charlie Brown
He's a clown, that Charlie Brown
He's gonna get caught
Just you wait and see
(Why's everybody always pickin' on me)
Who walks in the classroom, cool and slow
Who calls the English teacher, Daddy-O
Charlie Brown, Charlie Brown
He's a clown, that Charlie Brown
He's gonna get caught
Just you wait and see
(Why's everybody always pickin' on me)
Looks like you discovered my alter ego Lessie. This post has gotten so long it takes my computer a minute to open it!
Charlie is not your alter ego, Ed, Super Ed is. By the time Janzee and I finish molding him, you probably won't recognize yourself–but we will. We'll continue your legendary status here until Mary's new thread. Guess that will be sometime next week. Until then, hope you enjoy your super hero deeds.
Why is everybody picking on me! Oh poor EdinOregon here have another piece of apple pie it's on the house. From Alice's Restaurant. BTW any chance that you do windows? Just wonderin! http://il.youtube.com/watch?v=h0OhRm6AnMI&fea…
You're the best, Alicesoneysmom! Hope our legendary Ed enjoys it.
Thanks Alice. Now I will have that song stuck in my head for a couple of days. Loved there songs in my younger years! No I don't do windows! ^_^
Ali, can I have a piece of your pie? I cant stand it anymore on this gluten free diet. I am going to go on a pie binge any day, because I have been peekin into the restaurant watching you serve up all these famous people like Ed and Babe and Lessie, and Professor Stone, and CooperNova and I am HUNGRY. The one I want is right there on the counter just like Mary's.
I love pie. Had blueberry pie and pumpkin pie over to my son's last evening! Today I had to shovel more snow! Mercy! I need a trip to Florida!
Pies… slowly I turn, step by step inch by inch. Wasn't that an Abbot and Costello routine? Hold on to those pies Stone, because Janzee the pie snitch is about to jump off the page with those ski poles and grab one. Stoney, you would love the beach along Pampano, the end of Commercial Blvd. where I use to go turtle watching every year, and all the mystical body warming places of beauty. A natural salt and sea glow is so healthy and healing- my recommendation for anyone who is knee deep in snow. Simply put the shovel down, make a reservation and go to Florida, or the beaches of the Carolinas and PARTY. If you would like some Floridaish places to visit give me the thumbs up and I'll send it along jiffity split.
That step by step… inch by inch sounded familiar….

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sCbXl-BR-9U
But for some reason I thought it was by Red Skelton or Jackie Gleason.
Oh mercy~~` I closed the computer, but something told me that I was gonna get slam dunked with another pie. Laughing up a blue streak. Oh my gawsh too funny, wish I could can the laughter. You and Alice always find the best stuff. This skit is very familiar to me, as I am or was Lucy in another carnation. Now a mountain Lilly.
They all did it, but now I'm fascinated with where it came from. Oh geez, I better go eat another ice cream bar, so I can fall asleep.
That Florida info sounds tempting Jan. I was in Florida once …. loved the fresh ruby red grapefruit juice each morning! (Like mine with a splash of tangerine juice added.)
Maybe I should get a place in Florida. Where are some places you recommend? Tampa is fun, I hear. I was there in 1996.
I'll put together a list for you tomorrow Stone, and will touch on a few areas in Southern Florida and then head up to Tampa which has some amazing salt sand beaches. Your ruby grapefruit with a touch of tangerine is the spice of life. I keep licking my lips, tasting the drink.
Salt sand beaches in Tampa? Janzee please post the links.
Lessie gonna come back on a little later, but I couldn't wait to share this link with you. Tampabayand company.com The walking trails are magnificant, and the state parks beautiful. I have been there a few times over the years and love the area.
Lessie, gonna come on a little later, just in the midst of a little project. For starters go to Tampabay.com. I love the walking trails and the state parks,
No problem Janzee, I'm working on a project also.
Dear Lessie, I wanted to stop by and tell you how much fun I've been having with you as the master of ceremonies on this thread. The boomer questions you pulled out of a hat are right up everyone's alley, and I am loving the folk legends that have evolved thus far. I really feel HGTV could publish some classics from this stuff. An hour long show featuring us characters would be interesting. I know Stone sent along a squirrel story I encountered years ago in Cinci. I have a few thoughts about animal language which I will share tomorrow. There is a Nova Science episode which airs on PBS called How Smart Are Animals. Chaser, a Border Collie is featured and knows 1,222 words or can at least identify dog toys. I think there is something deeper in animal cognition.
Can't wait to hear your other stories, Janzee. You should have told hudjon about your squirrel story. He would have loved it.
With the housing market the way it is, my suggestion is to rent for a few weeks, make a little getaway and soak in the rays. Put your nap sack on, and take a little trip up or down the coast. The beaches in North Carolina are also spectacular.
Professor Stone, you are going to have hundreds of letters when you return from your expedition. Everyone is asking after you
This is the latest Professor Stone saga:
Lessie; you mean Prof Rock has become an ant in the Redwood Root System to learn how to communicate with them? It won't work, not without the help of Ed Bunyun and Babe. The Great Redwoods welcome Ed and communicate with him freely. Prof should have contacted Ed before taking that journey. If you need to share the results of Prof's adventures, feel free. It won't be told outside this blog.
****************************************************
Janzee:
To be a rock or a Stone or any other creature in the high altitudes of the oldest living trees on earth is remarkable. I hear that the Professor is scaling and spending time in an unknown and adventure filled eco system on the tallest "Hyperion" California Redwoods. It is a sacred trees tree with a life of 2,200 years old. Professor uses a fine thin mesh rope developed by the first and some of the only Redwood tree climbers in the world. The ropes are used actually like Spider Man to loop the limbs of the trees without hurting the branches in a terrain that is unknown to most men.
Once in the upper altitudes, 330 ft. in space, the limbs of the trees begin to interconnect and form tall butresses. Flying from one limb to the other is like soaring like a great bird. There are pure rivers, and streams, and soil which the professor is examining and animals that have never been seen before but serve the eco system. What is really fascinating is that Professor Rock sent down some samples of plankton, the same stuff you would find in the depths of the ocean, and is currently finding some mythological animals which he will surely journal about. The quiet in the depths of this vast new world is very healing, and all can journey to this land with the help of our great legends.
Ohhh EdinOregon we respect you now Rodney Dangerfield that's another story! http://il.youtube.com/watch?v=bLZNcTyjKFQ&fea…
Dear Georgie, where are you these days? I sure hope you have a colorful array of recyclable baloons and a handy journal ready for the ambush team. I wonder when some of our devoted and beloved bloggers start doing a little magic act.
Janzee, just hung up from my conversation with Alice. She was so excited, I could hardly understand all she said. I couldn't question her because she was preparing for the lunch crowd. From what I could make out, here's what I think she said:
Ben and Jerry are considering devoting a flavored icecream to Ed and Babe for all their great work in Vermont. If I understood her correctly, I believe she said Ed and Babe stumbled upon a smuggler's den in the moutains. They overheard the smugglers planing to rid Vermont of its wildlife and also limit it's fish population. Since Ed loves moose meat and fishing, he automatically sprung into action. In two leaps, he reached the smugglers before they could get their weapons. Before he could subdue all of them, some ran away. Babe charged after them. The men screamed so loud that their screams were heard in Stowe by those who were still awake. Ed made a log sled, tied the men to it, and pushed it down the mountain. I think Alice said the authorities are still looking for the men.
Been off on a spring equin ox finding mission, and heard Ed, but I think he was laughing in the hills and valleys, so loud that one giant resounding yuk yuk and the mighty man tickled the smugglers so much that they plopped down unloaded their pockets, and put their fish back on to the streaming video. Babe sort of blushed at the whole situation as this adorable blue ox with twinkling eyes changed from from blue to pink to green, depending on the mood. Now Alice, heroine that she is, smiled from Vermont to California, looked up at CooperNova another folk hero that walked through the swinging doors of Alice's restaurant, with a fine swagger and a voice that makes Orson Wells look like a pussy cat. Now this CooperNova guy, has some mighty tale tales to tell, and hope to hear from him shortly. Three folks heroes on a mission, standing in one fine place, and as the expression goes how many folk legends can fit into one Stowe restaurant -Alice's that is. What's next? Stay tuned for the next radio broadcast brought to you by writer and dreamer Lessie
Janzee, you are tooooo much. Spring equin ox finding mission? You are hilarious! I know we can't be together for any length of time b/c we wouldn't get anything done. Alice and CooperNova, oh yeah we're going to have so much fun spinning those tall tales. I just love this blog.
All the folk legends, aka blogamadillas on this HGTV blog are now buyin tickets to cram into Alice's restaurant. There must be some good cookin there in Stowe and that place in jumpin with alot of sweaty salivating, foot stompin folks. Open up those winders so we can see the laughin, cheering, dancing, singin, story telling, blogging, Gaily, I hope you have gotten wind of this because somebody here is gonna climb out of the pages of cartoon status and with one huge foreshortened grab gonna take that winning for the HGTV. Good luck you sweet folk legends you. Love Aunt Janzee
LOL. Janzee you are too much! So glad you're on this blog. I can see all those folks in Alice's Restaurant now. They sure are having a great time. Janzee, is that you leading the line dancing?!!!
Hi fine writer Lessie and weaver of tall tales, I may not be leading the line dancing, but I will sure give it a shakin try. I think the dancer in the bunch is RJMStone. Thank you for the welcome on this blog, I'm here because of the wonderful friends we've made, each one very unique and different. Coming here is the best. I wonder what it would be like if one of us one the DH, or Green House. For me, I dont feel it would change anything, in fact on some levels it would probably bring us closer. Imagine the visits from all parts of the country.
YEP…. Janzee, that could very well be me line dancing with the folk. I put on boots and a plaid shirt and started that foot stomping line dance with everyone. Come on and join us Janzee! Laughing, chatting, dancing, telling some whopper of stories, and enjoying food and drink with friends!
Aaaaah the fun the blogger winner will have throwing parties!
WOW! Who is that over there on the violin? Amazing!
Stoney, this picture that you describe, is so clear to me of the joy and celebration this group would have for any occasion. Violin and country band right beside me. I can just see your smiling laughing face with your chilens and grandbabies. I'll have to stand behind you lovey Stone to watch your steps, and then once I pick it up, I would be a very colorful, (at least that) participant. STOWE VERMONT offers so many opportunities for festivals and dance gatherings. A couple of places like the Rusty Nail come to mind for live music and nightly dancing. I found the USA Green Mountain Chapter, a dance consortium offers info about places to kick up your heels for classes.
You are dancing up just FINE! I'm boot scooting off to bed!
When I get to Stowe I would look up that Green Mountain Chapter and that Rusty Nail for good music and food!
Thanks!
On Janzee's Magical Necklace…….
(her blue shawl moved so I got a peak of this)
Touch the History Book charm….. Janzee can send you anywhere in History. Would you like to see the signing of the Declaration of Independance in person? See your first kiss again? See you wedding again? See the dinosaurs or cavemen per chance? POOF! You are there!
Yow wonderful masterful stuff Stone. I do get the feeling that I was around in the time of antiquity, a wedding, a signing and of course a smootcheroo. i wonder if I was Wilma Flintstone?
Janzee I shared your squirrel/ nut story to Lessie. Look down on here a bit.
Thank you doll, I just read it tonight. Can I share the deer story, this is very very special. It's time to publish your work my friend. May I ask you send yourself a printed copy of your stories to your home or apt., and dont open it. Just keep a document of when your envelop came in as that is as you know a form of copyright. Will have some time to include Fla. info tomorrow.
Stone I took the liberty of printing two of your adventure stories on page nine on this thread. How is everything going, you are missed on the blog.
Me, weaver of tall tales? You started it Janzee. After you opened the door, I walked in and let my imagination do the rest. No, I think it's you leading the line dancing. RJMStone doesn't like that much attention unless weaving tales.
If a blogger wins the Dream or Green Home, it will be great! The only opportunity fellow bloggers will see the home is probably at the blogger party, especially if the blogger doesn't keep the home or rents it out.
On utube I found this remarkarkable animal communication video . Go to: How to Snuggle on the beach. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bX7PTn1HbOA. This is an amazing piece about a woman on Golden Beach in North Carolina who has an 800 pound seal fall in love with her, and displays a very endearing courtship.
Communication?! He was one FRESH dude, Janzee. He saw, he came, and he conquered!!!
Ditto Lessie!
You both are fantastic!
RJMstone, I see you have a vivid imagination. Feel free to jump in and share. In fact, any blogger can jump in and add to the stories/lies we tell.
Well ya know, Janzee does have this Magical Shawl! Actually…. she is a Legend …. all her own too! The shawl usually hides her Magical Necklace! All Janzee has to do is touch one of her many charms….. and there it is…. in a true size and ready to use!
Touch the typewriter….. there it is ready to type up her play, words, and notes
Touch the horse…. Roy Rogers' horse will appear on his hind legs ready for her wish
Touch the car…. there is her perfect state of the art hybrid car "Trigger" (Roy Rogers' horse's name) with solar panels, 7 cameras for taking pictures, much geddy up and go, even tire sized snowmobile treads (that come down when needed) for if you are in ice or deep snow
Touch the baton…. there she is conducting magical music and fantastic plays
Touch the green and blue EARTH globe charm…. there she will point out with the wave of her hand on her floating virtual chart in mid-air all the GREEN things we could do to save energy… naturally & safely.

Touch the chrystal star…. she will mesmerize us with stories of the heavenly stars
Touch the glass boat…. which can also become a glass sub for seeing our under sea worlds and critters with Janzee at the helm
ETC. —– Can you tell which charms are hidden from my view?….. Please do tell us!
ETC.
ETC.
Aaaah…… Janzee is amazing! Such a good friend to have! Mother Earth is her neighbor.
RJMstone, you have been nominated to write Janzee's legendary story. Can't wait to read all your amazing Janzee stories.
PS Did you get your ability to talk to and understand animals from Janzee or do you have an "I hear you dear animals" charm?
I beleve Janzee was born with it. Handed down from her family members of times gone by. (Wisdom should not be lost….. recycle and reuse… Famous words.)
Now Aunt Janzee was a teacher and enjoyed sharing her time with Boy & Girl Clubs. Did I tell you how she earned and was given the "I hear you dear animals" charm? Janzee tells it so well.
Recycle and reuse wisdom, I like that RJMstone.
That charm is in the shape of a "PEANUT" you see.
Listen… in her own words….
" I took a group of kids on an Eco tour through the zoo. The same one I was locked into during a wolf howling exhibition. At the beginning of the tour we had a bag of peanuts, and I walked around the long winding trail which must have been a few miles, handing peanuts to squirrels. Usually I tossed one, and just like one of those little banks the squirrel ran to grab the nut and voila it would disappear. On the trail back, yards away from the exit, I had one more nut in my pocket. But instead, a squirrel meandered up to my feet, and I reached down to ask what he/she wanted. Then…the most interesting thing happened. The squirrel did this reaching type behavior, tucked down into it's pouch, and pulled out a nut, and handed to me. The kids screamed with laughter, and I saved the "lucky nut". "
Aaaa… the Charm had been given!
Wonder how the "I hear the animals charm" impacted the lives of the children who witnessed the tansfer of the charm to Janzee. Did she tell you, RJMstone?
AAaaaaah….. I will tell you of the time I was given my "Green Leaf" charm for my leather necklace!
I was wandering lost in among large redwood trees. I had a tickle in my throat and was in despair. I unwrapped a pine scented cough drop to suck on…. but a breeze blew up suddenly and I dropped it to the ground by mistake. So I dropped to my knees and started digging to get it back from the forrest floor. I dug and dug till my fingernails hurt. Then, all of a sudden…….. I had touched something under the ground…. and a glow came from where I had been digging. I had touched a mighty redwood tree's root. (Giant Sequoia Redwood trees have a very shallow root system and are all connnected to each other.) Then my arm lit up and I was given many wonderful visions of "Tree Wisdom"!! I will never be the same after that. I have a redwood tree sliver in my hand that I WANT to stay there! The forrest kept my cough drop. Aaah… what I know now!! The Green Leaf Charm was in my shirt pocket, I discovered…… as I drank from a mountain stream. I knew how to get out of the forrest then and where all the amazing plants lived in it.
Aaah…. the Charm had been given.
Great story, RJMstone. The Green Leaf Charm–had never heard of it until now. What great "on-ground" witnesses you have in your Keep America Free campaign.
I get this low gutteral almost cat like sounding stong voice when I am sure of something. My students used to say I was growling. Not!! I READ this, Stone, and the earth has spoken to you. Take heed, you have been given a gift. When earth or tree root talks you have graduated to level of care giver to earth. I am shaking about this story, as it is one of the best I ever heard. Earth gave you a sliver of life, and seeded it into your finger. Use it wisely. The natural world, meaning nature, is where you walk, Stay there Stone, and be the warrior that you are. Redwood travels with you always, and she blesses you and your family. Dont be fearful, just be called by the animals or the trees, and they will shelter you with their love. You have many many many moons, and mouths to feed, limbs that will reach out to hold your hand under their golden leaves. Sap is coming from my eyes, unexplanable for now, but will share another time. It is sap from a tree we share in common.
Time has passed- seems like hours, I thought I would enter, the sweeps, haven't put in very many, but your stories have captivated me, and suddenly the most interesting of all is the humanity, and goodness I am reading in your work, and on this thread.
Dearest Stone, I laughed and giggled when I read your story, and connected to the joys of the childlike wonder we all have for miracle. You Stone, are the miracle and always offer us a mirror for the potential that lies deep within. I hope I can share that mirror with you.

Touch the steaming pot….. Janzee will make appear any food or drink you or she desires.
Need more details here, Stone. How did you feel viewing yourself and others? What did you learn? How are you applying what you learned to your present life so you can help others?
Is that what makes you ageless?
OK Stone, it's on. Don't give us just facts, you're not Joe Friday on Dragnet. We want stories. Tell us how Janzee does this in story form. You've been drafted to write the secret lives of legends on this blog.
August Rush- the music reminds me of the mystery of the music that Life creates. I am listening to the music,as I write- still tears of such joy and upliftment. Thank you. Applause as the credits roll with RJMstone.
I know! I love the way Janzee writes!!!!!!!!!!!! Amazing!
I agree RJMstone. Just waiting until she sets the course for your character and then it's on!
I think, but I'm not sure, that Alice said the flavor of the Ben and Jerry's icecream dedicated to them is Ed and Babe. Such a simple name for legends.
Then Alice went on to tell me about the Vermont Teddy Bear Factory contemplating a new line representing Ed and Babe cuddlies. I'm sure they will be a hit with folks in Vermont, especially if they love Ed and Babe as much as Alice.
Because she was whispering by this point, I think Alice said something about Lift Line being renamed in honor of Ed and Babe. But don't quote me on that because I'm not sure if that's what she really said.
You got me a thinkin about what a story legend is made from. When the story is told we get this appetite for more, to find them in the places they know so well. bigger than life. I can see these heros/heroines in action. I feel a little taller, and my dreams are more colorful. Stowe Vermont is ripe for the folk heroes we have on the ranch. They are all looking in their prime and saddled up to ride, walk a 100 miles, dream a thousand dreams to do what all great folk legends do.
Walk a hundred miles, Janzee?! According to Alice, Ed does that before morning breakfast. You should hear Alice's stories, they're mesmerizing! She loves Ed and Babe. She raves about them. I'm sure her customers have heard many Ed and Babe stories.
When you talk with her, don't get her too excited because she begins speaking in French. Pace the conversation and you'll get an awesome interview.
I'd attempt to walk a hundred miles to see the HGTV Dream Home!!
This video would be a delightful way to travel to the Dream Homes!! Maybe that is where she is headed. Love it
HGTV could use this in a commercial! LOL Hint! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cwkej79U3ek
WOW
Great video RJMstone. You sure that wasn't Janzee on the piano? She could have gotten younger during her mission to find the spring equinox.
You are so right Lessie!! She would go a thousand miles!
Bet she has a wonderful traveling piano like that one also!!
She is her younger self now!
I would like to see her map to that spring equin ox. LOL
RJM, you should watch what you write. After reading your comment, it came to mind that your legendary self will be ageless, that's why you have the ability to communicate with animals. You don't need a spring equinox cuz you're always young.
Opps! What did I happen to do now?
Nothing other than giving me information to share in Alice's Restaurant, RJMstone.
I'D WALK 500 MILES…… to get to this dreamy Stowe HGTV Dream Home!!
If I win!
(Enjoy this GREAT music!)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=69AvNm8zubo
Don't worry, RJMstone. Your legendary character will walk that and more. Alice told me about your "Keep America Free" movement. As soon as I have time, I'll tell other bloggers why Janzee exalted you to legendary status.
I would be sooo saddened if our free country was turned into a world like the "1984" movie! Wouldn't you! ? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nineteen_Eighty-Four…
I must be like Paul Revere and jump onto my sleak and sassy black steed and go warn the citizens of encroaching terrible enemies! We need to keep our inalignable rights… "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness" . Ron Paul will help us along the way in my opinion.
Sure hope Janzee writes that into your legend, RJMstone. I'll make comments inside Alice's Restaurant about your Keep America Free movement.
Injustice thrives where nothing is done to stop it.
Especially in the workplace, RJMstone!
By this time, I was straining to hear Alice, I think she said something about being weak in the knees. I don't know whether she said Jim Samples or sampling something. I don't know what's going on in Vermont this morning! Will probably have to take a trip there to get these stories right.
Alice started fanning herself. I could hear the swooshing in the phone. She said she was hot. But I couldn't decide if she was having a personal summer or whether she was recalling some dream because she kept saying DCoopernova before hanging up.
As soon as Alice calms down, I'm calling her back because it is not my intention to spread lies on this blog. We are faithful Dream Home bloggers and nothing will stop us from reporting the truth, the WHOLE truth about what's happening in Vermont!
Janzee, where are you?! We need to update our legend. Wouldn't want to leave spicey Ed in the cold. I gotta cook now so I'll be back later.
Lessie–it's Saturday night, and I know I'm a little out of sequence, but I wanted to get back to you about one of the folk legends that walked into Alice's. Herewith is part one:Now about the time when golden buds were forming on maple trees, and that old familiar expression leaf no stone unturned was recited, a one baby faced RJMstone showed up at Alice's restaurant with that there adorable little denim hat. The hat came off, and there was another right underneath, as RJM slid into the restaurant and called out "I'll have the usual", and suddenly the biggest ice cold glass of root beer came sliding down the recycled formica counter as though it had wings, and the molten, liquefied, watery, liquescent gold burpy bubbly went right into the precious story telling mouth of Stone. Nourished with this refreshment you could see little dialogue bubbles about this positive, politico, paciforous, peace keeping, professorish person, life p as sio nate, eco pacing, story telling, and like the kids say "phat", which means the most wonderful thing a kid could say about a human. Stoney, if you say that to me I would love it. RJMstone's sleeves came up slowly, as the crowd gathered around, and you could see the light in everyone's eyes when Stone, now called Professor Rock, said my "story is about to begin". There was not a sound in the joint. Dim the lights please Janzee, bring up the music, "and put a spot light directly on the professor pleeze", said the director. That's when Mary and Gail give their wink of approval.
Part two RJMstone folk legend. Notice the front rows at Alice's, are filled with children, some with turned baseball hats, others with curly curls, long faces, happy faces, and even one little boy who could use an extra hug. All the kids, and kid's at heart including us baby boomers, have all come from near and far to hear our Professor Stone. One thing is for sure, that when the story begins, the legendary Stone will sooth, educate, fascinate, put em on the first rate…great. "Now in this land, not so very far away", Stone began, "in the shimmering and magestic hills of Stowe, across from the DH, there are trees and great animals that have their own language"… suddenly Professor Stone became very dramatic, and called out " Alas midadonta heterodon. Everryone in the crowd heard the eerie pronouncement, and that one little boy, said "Stone, is this shock value or a magic incarnation"? To this the professor replied, "Not at all lass, tis, one of the endangered species, an ancient mussel, that lives in the rivers in Vermont, and there are nine." As the story went deeper, there were bald eagles who liked to be tickled, Pumas with gemstone eyes, and a Lynx who looked like a Sphinx. These animals, shared their tales with professor, who understood and loved them. The story became like a dream, and Alice's windows dissolved away as the children were seeing Stone's stories in panavision. For your entertainment, and with Professor Stone's permission, I would like to submit a fine story about his grandfather, also a folk legend. It runns in the family, but not like my sentences.
Permission granted , dear Janzee!
I am honored and soooo enjoying this! I just wide smiled and let out a most enjoyable sigh (or was it a happy relief of a breath that I have been holding sooo long!)
Ah…. my beloved animals! They are dear to my heart!
This is the greatest gift I could hear. To know that you are "breathing deep the fresh air ", as my grandma Matea would say, and relaxing, eating blue berry pies, socializing with all nature's critters, and looking to the next grand adventure gives me joy my friend. I am going onto my email now to find your post about grandpa. I saved it, with the hopes that with your permsission I could read it, signed by you before a music venue- story night in Los Angeles.
Whoops P.S. I'm going to the market first to get some ice cream when I come back, I will send your most wonderful wonderful story , and ask to put it on the main board. Love Janice
OK with me Janzee!
Yum, ice cream! I had ice cream with my blueberry pie last night! Sooo good! Slept like a baby after that!
I thought about Ben and Jerry's and wound up getting a Hagandaz
For that you deserve a song….. enjoy your ice cream!

Hello dear Professor. Been thinking about where to start your vacation with a landmark like Ft. Lauderdale. Arriving at Ft. International you could stay someplace on Ft. Laud. beach. Check out the fivestaralliance.com, or many condo owners rent out a lovely beach front apt. for very reasonable rates. During the day you would totally love Las Olas Blvd., Just minutes from the beach is the Riverwalk Arts and Entertainment District in downtown Fort Lauderdale, home to cultural attractions, shops, parks and restaurants. Along Riverwalk, the brick-lined meandering promenade, discover the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, Museum of Discovery and Science with its AutoNation 3D IMAX -heater, Florida Grand Opera, Fort Lauderdale Historical Center, Stranahan House and the Museum of Art. I spent alot of time at all of these places and they are terrific.
Evening-I know you love to dance, and thought you might like to check out TheGoldCoast Ballroom.com in Margate Fla. on Lyons road. It's quite a grand place- I spent many an evening there with an attempt to learn to ballroom dancing. On Friday-Sunday, these are special community social dances. Everyone has a great time, you have dinner, and everyone has an opportunity to dance. The girls can even pull a Sadie Murphy if they want to dance with a guy.
Part 2- As a nature person, Check out GreaterFortlauderdalesunny.org and click on Natural wonders.a trip to the everglades is well worth the time, depending on the time of year. I lived on a canal loaded with gators. An airboat ride might also be fun. The beaches on the weekends are jammed so be prepared, but if you start heading up past Boca to Boynton Beach, traffic thins out a little. Basically in sunny south Florida be prepared for crowds, but under an unbrella, or at a cabana lounging on a beach towel yur in your own world. Turtle laying and hatching time is May 1st-through Oct. 31st. Chances are that if you are out late at night on the beaches where there is diminished light you will see turtles laying. It's an amazing experience. We're told just watch, and then report the laying site, so it can be fenced and protected.
Will be checking out all your wonderful and friendly nudges for finding the perfect travel adventure!! Thanks!!
Sounds like I would enjoy this most assuredly!
I can almost feel that warm Florida sun on my face now. And smell the gentle orange blossum scent in the air. I quess I do miss Florida! Where ever I go, my hat goes! LOL
Will take you into the Keys, and south Beach later. Can I be a squash huckler, I mean a swash buckler in my wanderings?
Thanks for affirming my notions of the legendary folk hero, aka Professor Rock … As Janzee's folktale unfolds, I imagine that your character will become as memorable and delightful as Dr. Doolittle and Private True Teague Kinneson (The True Account … written by Howard Frank Mosher).
Hi ya Both_sides_now !
I'll have to go look up that Private True Teague Kinneson fellow! LOL
"Professor Rock"….. LOL… sounds kinda good!
Reminds me of a photo of myself. I'm sitting on this HUGE rock by the shore just looking and watching the animals in the air, land and sea. I learn alot from them.
That sounds like a good book Both_sides_now ! THANKS!

Says…… "In "the funniest historical novel about the West since "Little Big Man" ("Denver Post), Howard Frank Mosher introduces Private True Teague Kinneson, who sets out with his nephew, Ticonderoga, on an epic race to reach the Pacific before Meriwether Lewis and William Clark. Along the way True and Ti encounter Daniel Boone and his six-foot-two spinster daughter, Flame Danielle; fight and trick a renegade army out to stop Lewis's expedition; invent baseball with the Nez Perce; hold a high-stakes rodeo with Sacagawea's Shoshone relatives; and outwit True's lifelong adversary, the Gentleman from Vermont, a.k.a. the devil himself. Published to coincide with the anniversary of the Lewis and Clark expedition's beginning, "The True Account is a riotous journey that "celebrates the unique brand of homespun humor popularized in the tall tales of Mark Twain" ("Booklist).

Stone, I saved this on my computer under Stone/Americana. It's really such a great story…..This wonderful tale is by RJMStone
Remembering that advenure of mine brought back a memory of a true story my dad told me. Dad and some relatives on vacation were getting up early, eatting a big breakfast and going deer hunting. Well, I know my dad…. after a BIG breakfast, he needs a nap. And so…. he fell asleep sitting on the ground, leaning up against a big old apple tree. He wakes up and was wondering what noise woke him. (He knew he had fallen asleep, because of the drool on the left corner of his mouth.) He sat very still as he heard something walk a bit closer.
Then he heard the buck's snort and saw his snorting breathe coming from around the other side of the tree. The buck might have been there for the old apples or was curious about that strange sounding (snoring) animal that he heard. LOL Big antlers can be dangerous, so Dad pumped the gun and the noise scared the deer away. He wasn't going to shoot him unless he had to, but wanted to scare him away. That was just too close he said. He thought that big giant of a deer (yes, he caught a glimpse of the buck running away) could have hurt him anytime while he was asleep….. BUT THE DEER DIDN'T. (He just woke Dad up so he would go home.) After that Dad decided not to deer hunt any more. Wanted to let these deer families enjoy the apples and naps in the tall grass just like he had done. ( Dad shoots with a camera now. He has some amazing pictures of wildlife on the wall. One of tiny twin fawns hiding in the tall grass.)
Thanks for printing that Janzee.
It really happened like that too. Good memories.
The deer in the fog story is true also.
Your story telling and sharing have only just begun, grasshopper, but you must get your sleep as all folk legends have time on a rock, to put down their hats, or cradle in a bed of leaves, or plop on the annex bed at the DH. Clear your mind Professor Rock, and the story book will be waiting your arrival in the morning for you to share your many adventures.
Ooooooh to sleep in the moonlight in the DHome ANNEX!
HEAVEN!
To wake to the sun trying to peak over the mountain, but only the wonderful glow of pink, peach, and baby yellow gently washing over your face in early morning. So gentle of an awakening! Stretching with a yawn!
May the sun, shine on the face of our Professor Stone and may all your hopes and dreams come true. Stretching is likened to a tree growing or a flower that is searching for the sun rays. P.S. I didn't have time today, but working on a list of to see things to do starting in Ft. Lauderdale, Key Miami, and Key West. Then I'll suggest some places up the coast.
You have more stories like this Stone? Please share them with us.
JUST AN OBSERVANCE ONE DAY……

* * * * "In unison dapper driver, and devoted dog"* * * *
The sight of this open type of green jeep gave me a huge chuckle a few weeks ago! When I saw it, I thought of Brendan O'Reilly and his grey dog.
I was second in line that day when I got stopped at a red light coming out of a large parking lot. I looked at the open mossy green jeep directly in front of me and did a double take. The strangest thing was happening! I had to chuckle & chuckle. In the driver's seat was a silver haired gent with a green jacket on. Sitting in the passenger seat was a good looking huge German Shepherd dog.
Whenever the driver turned his head from left to right and back to the left again to check on traffic….. in unison…. his faithful German Shepherd dog did the exact same thing. This kept up for some time….. until the light finally changed! So hillarious…. their timing was in sync! I've never seen a dog so interested in traffic before! Bet if his legs were longer he just might try driving his own jeep!! LOL
I know I said this before, but……..
I almost feel like getting a jeep like that man's and seeing if my dog, Dewey, would end up doing this "co-pilot" thing. LOL
Great story, Stone. This would have been a youtube hit. Thanks for sharing.
So true! Wish I would have had my camera with me that day!!!!
I do love to observe animals and I guess I try to figure out what they are REALLY up to.
BY THE WAY….
I was at the shore the other morning eating a blueberry biscuit. I enjoy watching the seagulls and jumping fish there. I have figured out that there is quite a long sandbar out a ways from the pier where all the big fish like to jump in the air and catch their morning breakfast. There is so much activity in the hungry mornings.
There is this one noisy goofy seagull I always wonder what he will do today. I can tell its him because he's mostly white with an odd marking that looks like mustard was splattered on top of his head. LOL I have donned him the name of SQUIRT.
Well, today he was squawking loudy and then flew away from the other seagulls. I noticed that when he came back, he had a huge silvery minnow hanging from his beak.
He would land in the parking lot only to attract other seagulls that would chase him. I suppose they thought he should share his fish with them. But he would just bounce around a little bit and then fly away with the fish still in his mouth. Then he would return. I do believe he was showing off with that fish in his mouth because I didn't see him eat it. He just kept coming back with that fish still in his mouth.
When the other seagulls got tired of trying to swipe his fish, he did the most unusual thing I have seen him do. He landed on the blacktop parking lot and dropped his big fish on it and looked at it for a moment. He cocked his head to the side as if thinking. (Maybe to see if the coast was clear of the other seagulls?) Then he started to flip the fish most matter-of-factly. I was wondering if he wasn't trying to GRILL his fish on the sun heated blacktop. A NEW RECIPE IN THE BIRD KINGDOM? LOL He could have watched many park-goers grilling their own food before they would eat it, so it could have given him an idea. LOL Squirt is an interesting MODERN bird! LOL
RJMstone, You sure have a lot of animal stories. Take what you know to be true, then spin it—makes great legend stories. Tell your seagull story from the bird's perspective. Will definitely be an entertaining Stowe legend story especially if he meets a Stowe legend.
I am out in Mother Nature Land alot…… so see and watch (and try to interpret the Mighty Animal Kingdom's throbbing and pulsating ways of wisdom…..
Wish I was as talented as you and Auntie Janzee, my friend…… but I will go to my foggy noggin attic space and try madly to find my 'ol spinning wheel-a-roo and try to put it to great use!
A news program showed an amazing foggy scene. Which reminds me………..
of a time I drove my daughter out of town away from street lights to view a talked about meteor shower. We stopped by the side of the road…. only to find a fog creeping in. We did see some bright fuzzy lights at least , but couldn't make out much more.
Only stayed awhile and then started to leave. On the way home we drove quite slowly in the fog because we saw many many white tailed deer down in the deep ditches on either side of the country road. It was quite interesting and scarey.
I should have thought about going to an old local ski slope that was nearby. That side of the huge big hill was treeless and high enough so that we could have had a much less foggy view of the meteor shower.
I will always remember that night. So unusual to find yourself in a secret whitetail deer world under the low fog. Eeery and almost 'other worldly'. The deer were so thick in the ditches that I felt like an invader into their private world. Happy we went to TRY to see the meteors that evening.
Maybe the deer have a secret eyesight that we don't have and could see the meteor shower most easily thru the fog! Ah yes, they had come to see the meteor shower with us…. they even KNEW we would be there. Now that I understand them better….. I am honored that they chose to be with us on that foggy night! I would love to find that special stone for that leather necklace that I wear around my neck so that I would hear their words in my head. May the "Wisdom of the Earth Rock" please lead me to this enchanted Spring where these magical small rocks dwell in the bubbling Secret Spring's protective watery barrier!!! I may have to go back to this place and find this family of deer and bring one of them with me. YES! YES!
Announcement to all on the HGTV blog, and it's assignees. All individuals on this blog, have in some form identified that the amazing stories are theirs.
Dearest Stone, as I read this masterful tail meteor tails included, I felt again as I said before that the deer were the meteors.
Janzee's words brought new insight into the deer events in my life……
"Dear Stone, I had to come back to tell you I've had such a good time reading your story over and over again. I couldn't help but think that the deer that you and your kids saw years later, was a kosmic thank you gift for the respect for their lives that your DAD had. I read the story to my little nephew on speaker phone, and his mom and I began to cry and laugh at the same time. Then I read it to hubby, who has a stern exterior, but it softened him and he said it was great! The world needs more apple pie, Stoney keep writing please my dear. "
Aaaah…. thank you dear loving Aunt Janzee. I have been going thru a very long bereavement time in my life….. your words are helping me thru this most difficult time. Watching the animals are a comforting distraction for me….. as is being with oh so many wonderful and amazing bloggers!! Throwing hat up into the air with a smile!
Never knew before that HGTV wedsite could be a healing source.
Couldn't agree with you more, RJM … Beauty of the soul overflows at this blog aka Alice's Restaurant and nourishes my spirit as well. I have lost track of where to pick up this thread, so forgive me for my haphazard entrance … In my imagination, I can see you soaring off the coast of Florida with the dolphins … so this one's for you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9bKwRW0l-Qk&fe…
Bless you! I really enjoyed this. Those dolphins are beautiful! Those whales and dolphins are having way too much fun!! LOL
Loved the music too!!
Aah…. as I watch this video and listen to the fine music that nourishes my soul…. I close my eyes and am transformed into one of those fine 'racing striped' dolphins!
I race up to the water's surface and sail thru the sun warmed air! With a flick of my powerful tail, I move in mid-air to a position for a gentle dive (nose first) right back down into my familiar watery world! So much fun…. I could do this for hours. LOL I see that Cousin Whale is showing off today, but he's really not too bad today! LOL But I can swim circles around him any day!
(The stories the dolphins could tell. )
Enjoy your swim, RJMstone.
Love your statement, "beauty of the soul overflows at this blog aka Alice's Restaurant and nourishes my spriit as well," Both_sides_now. Meeting bloggers at Alice's Restaurant makes my day! See you there.
…and that dolphin leaped out of the water, laughing sucking in life, and applauding you dear one. Watching the full moon from my window tonight thinking about all of us…"time for a cool change". As Professor Stone says Bless you Both_sides, Any time any place you come in it's always with inspiration thought, and joy.
Your hat wound up in the billowy clouds, and it carved the way of the golden heart. You can see the little pup holding the hat, and the huge heart shaped gift to all who know and love you.
Love this story Janzee. Any more emails?
Lessie, this is the only precious and profound story I saved from our posts on HGTV.
You saved a great one, Janzee. Thanks. Before you ask, I know it's late. Going to be now. Have a good night.
Janzee has many wonderful stories too, Lessie.
I cannot forget the wonderful shared story of the tap danacing crows who came bearing gifts of mint candies from loved ones from the BEYOND. (Loved it.)
Ya know, I believe her magical shawl was handed down to her from her beloved Grandmother (who was a fortune teller). Sssh
All her magical charms on her necklace had to be earned by her Grandmother or herself.
Is this a true story RJMstone? When did Janzee share it? Just need the date. I'll go back in the blogs and search for it.
As for the magical charms, is that true too? I would have made Janzee a gypsy, but that would have been in my legendary tales. But I decided you woud be better at writing Janzee's story since you know so much about her. Can't wait to read your stories.
YES this is her true story. Just in time for Valentines day also. (Janzee pulsates with kindness, knowledge and wisdom….. just reading her words and you will know, grasshopper.)
****"Hi Stone, in light of the crow stories we swapped the last few days, something happened a few hours ago, that I thought you would find amusing. Before the story, a little background. My gradma Matea, grew up in a religious home. Her father who was a weaver in Spain, adored his wife, and every week would come home and sometime in the afternoon would take out a sweet candy from his apron and feed it to my Matea's mother, like two love birds. To continue this ritual my gram Matea, instructed Mo my grandpa, to offer her a present each week, and so grandpa an inventor and not much into these frivolous matters began feeding my herbalogist grandma A MINT candy every week. Later my gram shared the story and said sometimes a man needs to be reminded of the niceties a woman likes.
So this sharing tradition stuck in my family, and the women and men would often gift each other with little gifts as a reminder. My gram and I often talked about this sharing of a little sweet or a little gift as a metaphor for the importance of sharing with family or community. Now mind you, I have never, but never had a personal face to face experience with crows, You sent me that site, and I thought of the amazing intelligence of these birds and saw the videos a couple of times. That was it. This afternoon, I wound up in front of a store and all of a sudden something was doing a soft shoe on my Scion. Clickety click, knock knock. Suddenly this face reached over the side of the window and stared at me for a few beats, and had such a person like look. When the being flew away, I realized it was a crow. Then another one, a more quiet version and not doing the dance flew off the roof. So I got out to look on the roof to see if it had left any unwanted presents, but instead, there was a piece of a peppermint candy just like grandmas. One could only think it was one of those little life's gifts " ****
This is a great read. Thanks for SHARING. RJMstone. Tell us how you got your talking to animals charm.
Stoney Matea was a naturalist, but could dance with a whirling shawl, or cape. She would put her soft hands on top of your head for a blessing look deeply into your eyes and summon all of the ancient wisdom about herbs vitamins and goals in life, all through the wisdom of the ancestors and common sense. She felt everyone deserved the fortunes of life that were as small as reaching out to someone in need or smiling with our world's children and hearing them before they speak.
Great storytelling Janzee. keep it coming so I can add the extras Alice shared with me.
BTW Janzee, did you know that Alice's baby is named Soney? And that Alice and Soney travel frequently? I'm beginning to believe that Alicesoney'smom may really be Alice of Alice's Restaurant. What do you think?
Ed, I like the William Tell Overture too. Whenever I'm stuck in traffic for a long while …. I find myself tapping out that tune with my fingers on the steering wheel. Keeps me occupied. LOL
I've been thinking about this for a long time Stone, but what comes to mind is that you are a genius, and as folk legends are sometimes quiet, doing their hero or heroine things, other times they are loud with symbols, music and works of art, stories and poetry.
I don't know about the Genius word dear Janzee…. LOL…… but thanks!
Dewey and I went outside today and walked in the snow and formed the largest and most lovely VALENTINE with our foot/paw prints for ya! I am going to adorn it with red food coloring sprayed on it and maybe some red spray paint to attempt to make a ruffled lacey edging for it!
HAPPY VALENTINES DAY EVERYONE!! (A little early…. I know, but we couldn't help ourselves!)
What a beautiful kind and life large thing to do beautiful dear Stone. Your creativity, warm spirit, connection to nature, and good thoughts good feelings are showing. The magic of building something like this will bring wonders right back to you. We all love you dearly and know how much your family and friends adore you!!!! Happy Early Valentines to you my dear friend. Bless you!!!!! And give Dewey your partner in mischief a big hug from me, and all of us!!!!!
And you're next one up for folk legend status lovey so hold on to that baby denim hat of yours.
Hardy chuckle here friends. I can't compete with Spicey Ed!
Wonder if Ed (Paul Bunyan look-a-like) would switch his mighty ax for a mighty shovel and help us all out of this nasty deep snow?
http://www.denarotaylor.com/illus-6.html
I have been giving my muscles a work-out with shoveling this deep snow!! Whew!!
RJMstone, don't be shy now! When Janzee starts your legend, I'm ready to jump in. That's a great picture of Ed and Babe! Thanks for sharing it.
Now about the time when golden buds were forming on maple trees, and that old familiar expression leaf no stone unturned was recited, a one baby faced RJMstone showed up at Alice's restaurant with that there adorable little denim hat.
Everywhere is surrounded by knee deep in snow, but the warm cockles of your heart will melt away the snow and give way to a good story. Give your muscles a break Stone, and pick up where you left off mighty folk legend as you mesmerizing a crowd at Alice's Restaurant.
I got them right away. Guess I'm a Boomer. Thanks for the memories, Lessie! (So, who's tag line was "thanks for the memories?"
Of course, that was Bob Hope!
Brlight, it only proves you're in the beloved seasoned blogger club. Tag line?…why the one whose classic golf tournament just ended…Bob Hope.
How fun! I was just reminiscing about old TV shows last night with friends! I didn't remember the first one. Here's one: Anyone remember Rocky's full name? (As in Rocky and Bulwinkle)
Got to be Rocket J. Squirrel.
Yep!
How do you know that Stoney, I have always pictured you as a youngin. Loves you Janzee
Had to go out to walk my dog and the neighbor was out at the same time. So I asked Kevin. I was darn lucky he knew ROCKY'S real name. It made sense seeing his name was Rocky.
p.s. I'm young at heart no matter how old I am!
Glad to have yo back from your travels.
By the way…. Kevin collects comic books…. so he knows alot! LOL
It's by some order or decree that all those who collect comic books, and are named Kevin know stuff. I used to read them with a parakeet I trained to lie on his back under the covers in NY. It was like the bird was laughing when I read Archie comics, until mom came in and saw a huge blog of blankets and heard me talkin to myself. When she pulled off the covers Greeneroo and I looked as guilty as all get out.
Do animals talk to you too, Janzee? If so, I know where you'll fit in this legend stuff.
Good cover RJMstone. Now that we know animals talk to you, your cover is blown.
The one thing about animal whisperers is that they always have a surprise up their sleeve. They lay back observe gather information, and then in the loudest whisper of all they offer animal wisdom.
Too funny, Beautifulhrj55! I watched Rocky but couldn't recall his name. Was tempted to look up the answer and cheat, but RJMstone's reply kept me honest.
I am totally embarrassed to say I knew every answer. So old……..
No need to be embarassed, Nebraska, because you're in the beloved blogger group.
But ALL of the answers even on the next page.
You're not the only one to get ALL the answers correct, Nebraska. There are geniuses on this blog.
Okay thats the way to look at it genius – not old and familiar. But there wasn't one question on my favorite show as a kid- SKY KING!
Neraska, you got me on that one! Definitely had to look it up. However, I see that you can watch Sky King free online. Check it out: http://www.ovguide.com/tv/sky_king.htm.
I remember that one Charlotte. I think his plane was called the song bird and his little cute niece was penny. Okay I remember her the most. I think they started out with an older twin engine plane and then later in the series they had a newer one. I don't remember the brand of plane though?
Can't be expected to remember everything, Ed. You remembered what was most important, his cute little niece Penny. That's good. How does it feel to become a blog legend? No telling what stories will be spread about you tomorrow.
I wanted Penny's life! Live on a ranch- all that space and fun. They played the show for years- and I would so like a copy of the series.
They have a boxed set of the 72 shows on remastered DVDs at: http://www.skyking.com/
Ed, they even have the "Whirlybirds" ?
http://www.rarevintagetv.com/whirly.htm
Oh my gawsh, you are another, one to look at your pic, and your persona is so young, whodda thunk it.
If this was for me thank you.
That one was for you Nebraska. You are the kid.
2.) Ed Sullivan Show
3.) On route 66
Great job, Tinastarr! Keep going!
Louisefaith, I checked with Alice and she believes she's recalling what happended the first time DCoopernova entered her restaurant. As the story goes, DCoopernova came late at night just before closing. MeKhazSimi, RJMstone, Deerspring, Cami, Renee, Both_sides_now, Nevada, PFG, NYCfirefighter, Tinastarr, Wyo_Girl, Brlight, Beautifulhrt55, and a few other bloggrs were there. RJM was finishing a story about Janzee's magical charm necklace. The Professor loved Janzee and never tired of telling stories about her.
As Alice gave her thirty minutes before closing speech, the door opened. Everyone turned to see who would come at such a late hour. No one entered. "Close the door," shouted NYCfirefighter. "Either youre in or you're out. Make up your mind."
"I choose to be in sir," replied the visitor. "I desire to see Alice."
Alice stood motionless. She recalled the visitor's voice, so smooth, comforting, and peaceful. But it couldn't be him because she hadn't seen him since he gave her the money to start her restuarant and begin a new life in Stowe.
"I'm Alice, I'm Alice." shouted someone from the back of the room. It was MeKhazSimi.
"Hush, MKS. You're not Alice," said Nevada. "None of your foolishness tonight."
DCoopernova glanced at Nevada before focusing on MeKhazSimi. He walked over to her, took her hand and kissed it, then leaned over and whispered in her ear. MeKhazSimi stared at DCoopernova and said, "Me? Me. Me!" Everyone laughed. DCoopernova kissed her hand again then walked toward Alice.
"DCoopernova, is it really you?" asked Alice. "I've been wanting to see you again. To thank you for your loving kindness and for saving me." Alice began to weep softly.
DCoopernova embraced Alice and held her. She deeply inhaled his familiar scent. His arms were still as strong as they were when he rescued her from the stormy angry waters of Thailand. "Are you ok?"
"Yes, yes I am."
"Will talk to you later." DCoopernova smiled, kissed Alice's cheeks, and left.
"Who was that?" asked Wyo_Girl.
"A friend. A very good friend," said Alice. "It's closing time."
PFG stood, put on his coat, looked at Alice and said, "Well done, grasshopper. See you tomorrow."
Alice opened her hand to read the note DCoopernova had placed there. She read the first four lines and began to cry.
"What's wrong Alice?" asked Deerspring. She ran to her and looked at the note but couldn't read it. "Does anyone know what this says?" she asked.
But Alice wouldn't let anyone see the note. She held it to tightly against her heart before looking at it again. Then she read the first line.
"In English please," said Deerspring. But Alice continued to read in French.
Hello bien là,

Ouais, Ain't il surprisine comment time slips away
By this time, the crowd in the restaurant surounded Alice. "What does it mean?" they asked.
Alice looked at them and said, "DCoopernova is back in town."
She went into her office and got her laptop and went to youtube. Found a link and told them to look it when they got home. The link Alice gave them was http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9pSb-TDEqs
"Listen to this and you'll understand," said Alice. "I need everyone to leave NOW!"
When Alice spoke in that tone, everyone knew she meant business. They got their things and began to leave.
MeKhazSimi, aka Me, came back into the restaurant. "Look what I found outside the door." She handed Alice two red roses bound by a gold cord secured to a box of Lindor Truffles by a red velvet bow.
"What does this mean Alice? Who's DCoopernova?" she asked softly.
"One thing at a time, Me. Coop is my friend. I'll explain it to you later. His note says," Alice held up the note and began to read it.
Well hello there,
my it's been a long long time
How am I doin',
oh well I guess I'm doin' fine
It's been so long now and it seems that
It was only yesterday
Mmm, ain't it funny how time slips away
How's your new love,
I hope that he's doin' fine
Heard you told him, yes baby
That you'd love him till the end of time
Well you know, that's the same thing
that you told me
Well it seems like just the other day
Mmm, ain't it funny how time slips away
Gotta go now,

Don't know when though, oh
Never know when I'll be back in town
But I remember what I told you
That in time your gonna pay
Well ain't it surprisin' how time slips away
Yeah, ain't it surprisin' how time slips away
"Wow…I can't believe this. Who is DCoopernova and who is he to you, Alice?"
"Coop and I are only friends Me. We met in Thailand many many years ago. During an intense rain storm, I saw a swimmer struggling to stay afloat. Instinctively I dove into the water to save him. Once ashore, others help me take him to my room. He stayed there until he was well enough to leave. That was the beginning of our friendship. Because Coop said I saved him, he made me promise to come to him whenever I needed help so he could return the favor. He wouldn't leave until I promised. So I promised. That's how I was able to launch my restaurant."
"Were you ever more than friends?"
"No Me. I know what you're thinking. If you want to be Coop's friend, that's between you and him. Don't involve me."
"Ah Alice, can you just invite the both of us to dinner. That's all I need."
"No, Me. Don't ask me that again."
"Why do you call him DCoopernova, Alice?"
"It's a joke between us, Me. Coop is a reflection of the sun to me. He helped me research the best place to start a business, financed my restaurant, and taught me to invest and manage money wisely. Because he's touched every area of my life with the warmth of his friendship, I tagged him as Cooper, reflector of the sun. It probably doesn't make sense to you, but it does to us.
Enough for one night, Me. Tomorrow we'll talk. Goodnight."
"OK, see you tomorrow Alice."
Which blog is Alice's Restuarant now?
We're commenting on the latest blog, in different places, RJMstone. Hadn't thought about keeping it in one place. If you have a story, please post it on the latest blog so we can find it.
Lessie , I cant get back to your post about the fresh seal. My thought is that the woman is wearing a perfume called Sealed With A Kiss.
Oh Lessie, I found you. Your novelette, made me laugh and cry. We know all of these great characters and for a few moments I was allowed to be in another place another time. So many aspects of the novel tugged at me to set the story in Stowe and a flashback to times before a bloggie wins. You are so much better than Danielle Steele, Nora Roberts,Nick Sparks
Thank you for you updates. I was wondering if the land was included with the HGRV Dream Home or if there is some kind of lease on the land.
I think they have said before that the lot, which is about half an acre, is included.
Thank you! that's nice to know.

I'm with you, SandyLA. I knew the answers to some questions, others I didn't. But I enjoyed taking the quiz. Old and young AKs need to exercise grey matter more. In fact, we should give the tax questions for the Dream Home to young AKs and tell them to figure it out! Might help some of them realize that math applies to all areas of life.

It took me way back
Back down memory lane."
Thank you Lessie beautiful song! BTW you have a new picture is that snow from your latest snow storm. I don't see that well so let me know if I am right. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-Z2z5a4mQ4&fe…
Alicesoneysmom, you are smokin' hot today. LOVED the Minnie Riperton youtube video. In fact, I checked out some of her other videos also. Do you remember this one? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kE0pwJ5PMDg&fe…
Yes, the photo is from our last snow storm. Took the picture about four hours into the storm.
Thanks Lessie loved that song. I am just enjoying everyone's company here but I notice that there is a somebody or sombodies that do not like me. I didn't think I was offending anybody it is all in fun. Soney and I have so many friends here. If that person or persons would come forward and tell me what offends them I would appreciate it. Sorry Lessie for blurting this out you are a great friend I just needed to get this off my chest because it has been going on for a while now. Thanks for all your support. Love your snowy picture you will fit right in when you win the DH in Stowe.
Alicesoneysmom, did you say that someone doesn't like YOU?!!! That's unbelievable. How can someone not like you? There's nothing not to like. If you're referring to a comment from a blogger, don't sweat it. What I've come to realize is that some people are very fragile and cannot take any criticism. Not that you've written anything negative, but it depends on the state of mind of the reader. If a reader thinks you've made a negative comment against his comment, he will respond from his place of hurt and pain. That also goes for a she. It's all about perception.
I need you to be in a good place because I love the journeys you share and the new things I learn. Your travels won't be as fun if you're preoccupied with someone's false impression of you. Thanks for unloading that garbage. Hope you feel better now that it's out.
Thank you Lessie for all your kind words. Do you do Inspirational Speaking engagements you have a natural talent? I think I will pick myself up, dust myself off, and start all over again. Thanks again Lessie! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HKBRjZdy8WY&fe…
Yes, Alicesoneysmom. I am an inspirational speaker and I love what I do. Also enjoyed Nate King Cole. You always pick the perfect video to share. Loved it. As for picking yourself up and dusting yourself off and starting all over again, you weren't down that long. That was only a stumble backwards. Now it's time to take two steps forward. Make sure they are giant steps!
Even though your comment was directed to alicesoneysmom, I just wanted to tell you that your encouragement, kindness, compassion, groundedness, humor and positive attitude makes me look forward to reading your comments. I venture to say that you not only love what you do, you excel at what you do, too! I would love to hear you speak someday.
What a great conpliment, Both_sides_now. Thank you for your kindness.
I've never heard this wonderful song by Nat King Cole … I love it and have downloaded to my android phone! Thanks again!
Oh, Lessie, you stated this so perfectly. And for sure there would be a great big gap on this blog without Alice and Soney—always with perfect timing—for bringing a smile to our faces, and a sunbeam of sunshine to the day for all of us. There are so many on here, you and others, who are the reason I decided to join a blog for the first time last year. It's a great community, and one I hope to be a part of for a long time. And like every community, all you can do is hope somewhere down the road you have made a difference in someone's life, and they in yours, and keep walking forward with a smile and compassion and leave the rest for what will be will be. LOL .
Well said, MeKhazSimi! That's why I like this blog, some really great people are on here. Thanks for making a difference in the lives of fellow bloggers.
Alicesoneysmom, you are special and I for one appreciate your love of music and comedy. I'm glad that you take the time to share here on the board … If it is any consolation, I have noted over the past three days or so that someone appears to be getting their jollies from pressing the thumbs down on any comment … it seems pretty consistent regardless of whose comment it may be (I've been tagged a couple of times myself). I wouldn't take it personally … there will alway be "haters" …
Hope my comment isn't misunderstood … the same thing is occurring consistently over on the Freebie Friday blog, re: 6,000 rose petals thread. It could just be just random coincidence. By the way, we are neighbors in a way as I live in the greater Seattle area too (SE King County). Hope you had a chance to glance toward the east this morning; I witnessed another awesome sunrise of pink, periwinkle, lavender, and pale orange … just a reminder that we are loved more than we will ever know …
Thank you Both_sides_now. We sure are neighbors. Soney and I live about 20 minutes from downtown Seattle as the crow flies. The sunrises are just beautiful and it fills the sky. We live in the middle of a steep hill on a very busy street. Lake Washington is down the hill and Boeing Field is up the hill and then down another hill so we don't get to see the sunsets as well as the sunrises but when we do it is just beautiful. We don't mind living on a busy street because Soney is so social and loves to hear people tell him how pretty he is. Thanks so much you are a great friend.
I giggled when you described where you live … We do have plenty of real-deal hills in the Ring of Fire … Just feeling fortunate that all the severe weather that was forecast this winter in the Pacific Northwest has not come to fruition. I like to be able to get around, if you know what I mean! On another subject, what kind of dog is Soney? About four years ago, I didn't live too far from the Genessee off-leash dog park. I have a dog (7-yr-old female black-mouth southern cur) too and we used to take her there pretty regularly. She loved to get her run on and play with the other dogs … It's a great park!
Hi Both_sides_now the sun is shining again today we are truly fortunate here in the Pacific NW. Can really feel for those being pounded by the severe snow storms. Hope everyone can stay safe and warm. Soney is a rescued black lab. For the first two years of his life he was very sick. I love this blog because when things got so bad and I thought Soney was not going to make it so many friends and supporters pulled us through the tough times. Now Soney weighs 90 lbs and going through his puppy phase. He is helping me downsize. Besides playing ball he loves to flip stuffed animals in the air and then tear them to shreds. Take care Alice and Soney
Too funny! I think Soney and our dog, Sydney, are long lost cousins … does the same thing with both tennis balls and squeaky toys (stuffed animals, small pillows, rubber duckies, you name it). She loves to play catch with the tennis ball; she prefers that someone toss the ball to her, but if no one wants to play with her, she will play toss and catch by herself. When she gets a new toy and discovers that it squeaks, it’s all over for the toy. Her sole mission becomes “must get the squeaker by any means necessary”, and usually results in fluffy stuffing everywhere. Once she has found the prized squeaker and silenced it, she loses interest. We have nicknamed her “Syd-Squid, the Squeaker Kid.”
On another subject, I was curious if there were off-leash dog parks in or near Stowe, Vermont, and guess what? There are several off-leash dog parks in Burlington. I think I’ll also post this separately as well, but here’s the link I found: http://www.bringfido.com/attraction/state/vermont…
Have a beautiful day!
Just stopped by to say, that I keep picturing your sunrise and comment "just a reminder that we are loved more than we will ever know". Thank you for bringing that confirmation to the blog.
Whenever I notice those thumbs happening, I usually give a thumbs up to try and balance things out.
Me too, Ed … it's part of my daily routine: (1) ENTER sweepstakes at HGTV and Front Door, (2) Read the latest in the blog and give everyone a thumbs up!
Hi Alice and Soney! I don't think you are the only one being targeted — I think somebody is doing the random thumbs-down thing again. I've noticed that a number of comments have gotten a thumbs down for no apparent reason. Sometimes the same person is targeted and sometimes not. I do the same as EdinOregon — when I see a pointless thumbs-down I give a thumbs up! You have a lot of supporters on this blog who enjoy your posts, including me! Talk to you soon!
Thank you so much C&E Soney and I have so much fun here. After playing ball until he is totally exhausted he loves to sit next to me and check out the latest here on the blog. Then he wants to listen to some music and take a nap. Hope everyone is well in your family. Take care. Talk to you soon. Thanks for being my friend!
Ditto kid, I even changed my name once upon a time, to bring up a person's thumbs. Now a green thumb would be a different story, or a hitching thumb to Stowe as long as it is on this HGTV bus.
We stand behind you our alice, with banners, and peace and love signs, protest signs, folk songs, and like Ed would say snow balls. Next time you have any problems send them over to me, and I will put a dunce cap on em and give em a what to and a how fur.
Lovin' You is still a favorite of mine … When she hits the high notes, it gives me goosebumps. Her voice was so sweet and her extraordinary 5-and-a-half octave vocal range was incredible. I was just out of high school and I remember feeling very sad when she passed away from breast cancer. Thanks for sharing!
I love Minnie's voice too, Both_sides_now. As you've already said, her vocal range was exceptional. Lots of great musicians died far too young in my opinion. Love her videos
Hello dear Professor Stone, I love this nickname for you. I have tried to get back to your former comment to me about Roy Roger's Stallion and a few political comments. I wanted you to know that I hear, underline hear, your voice, as it rings out loud and clear. It is a beautiful voice, and should not be stiffled. With all of your research, I'll bet you could do your own radio broadcast. What we have in this country, is a variety of portals to reach our Congressmen and woman, become friendly with them, and express your concerns, and stay on it. I have that type of relationship in Nevada with several, in Ohio, I attended city meetings, and it became part of my life. In your life, speaking as a big sister, I encourage you to get into training with your walking, dancing, as you are a very passionate person, and that outlet would be like water for chocolate. Eating right is first on the agenda, breathing deep the fresh air, entering HGTV, loving your children and grand babies, working the personal math puzzles, and laugh your tuchas off.
"A PENNY SAVED IS A PENNY EARNED." per Benjamin Franklin.
Here's a math question!
a) If Ben had deposited one penny into a certificate of deposit that earned 4.5% compounded quarterly on the last day of his life, as of today, what would be the current value of the account for Ben's descendants?
Didn't he father a few daughters?
Franklin's passing at the age of 84 and his 1790 funeral procession, attended by some 20,000 mourners, and includes a photo of his grave (with pennies), located at 5th and Arch in old Philadelphia.
http://ask.yahoo.com/20001211.html http://www.ushistory.org/franklin/info/index.htm
Hmmmm, that picture makes him look something like Bing Crosby. Wonder if he could sing like him?
RJMstone, checked out your link. Lifted this quote from the article: "If you're not up to the math, simply consider the following: "A penny tossed, is a penny lost…" Works for me!
Didn't see the Bing Crosby look alike picture.
Another terrific link RJMstone … May I call you Professor RJMstone? I find your comments astute, and your links, educational and entertaining … With respect to the math, I will have to get back to you on that one … For now, I believe I will heed Lessie's "common cents"!
Common cents answer is just fine. I don't know if anyone could answer that penny question any ways! LOL That Professor title sounds wonderful! (Wish I was one.)
RJMstone, you're on the DREAM Home blog. Dreaming is perfectly acceptable here. If you want to be a professor, so be it–poof! How do you feel now, Professor RJMstone!
Are you looking at that 4.5% as the standard at the end of Ben's life in 1790, not withstanding fluctuating markets, wars, the depression, and the whole host of market ids for 221 years. "The real price of every thing, what every thing really costs to the man who wants to acquire it, is the toil and trouble of acquiring it… But though labour be the real measure of the exchangeable value of all commodities, it is not that by which their value is commonly estimated… Every commodity, besides, is more frequently exchanged for, and thereby compared with, other commodities than with labour." – Adam Smith, The Wealth of Nations, 1776. Interesting George Washington was paid a salary of $25,000 a year, from 1789-1797. Today the "bundle" and the whole host of fat inflation offers a president $400,000 plus a $50,000 expense account.
Anyone remember 'Dennis the Menace' (1959-1963) or the old reruns?
Who played "Good ol' Mr. Wilson" ?
Who (real name) said that phrase all the time?
Jay North played the pesky neighbor Dennis who was a constant pain in the side to Joseph Kearns, good ol' Mr. Wilson. Thanks Wikipedia. I remembered the series but not the names, but immediately recognized the names once I saw them.
You are right Lessie!
Remember Jeanne Russell as Margaret. Can't you just see young Margaret (with ringlets in her hair) staring dreamy-eyed at Dennis the Menace? Here is a website where you can hear the theme tunes for "Dennis the Menace" TV show and even "Popeye" cartoons. LOL
http://www.whirligig-tv.co.uk/tv/children/other/o…
Thanks for the link, Professor RJMstone!
Dr. Jeannie is now a non pressure chiropractor in North Hollywood Cali, and grew up in a very health conscious family. I think Dennis works in the prison system as a guard someplace in Florida. I saw a pic of him in 2005, and could vaguely see the cowlick just like mine.
Professor Stone I love it. I used to answer to Dennis in the old days, Dennis/Janice
That was probably Dennis the Menace! ^_^
Ed, you know that comment will only add timber to the fire. Love it!!!
Yea,but we didn't live on the same street

Answers cont'd
09. The Timex watch
10. Freddy,The Freeloader and 'God Bless.'
11. Draft cards (Bras were also burned. Not flags, as some have guessed)
12. Beetle or Bug
13. Buddy Holly
14. Sputnik
15. Hoola-hoop
I guess I jumped in too early … 13.5 correct (couldn't remember Red Skeleton's hobo name).
I was truly just a kid in the 60's, but I do remember most of these benchmarks … Especially the hoola-hoop … My sister and I entered the annual Hoola-hoop competition a couple of times (my sis made it to State one year). Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
No, Both_sides_now, you aren't old, you're seasoned with great memories and truly good times. Glad you enjoyed the walk down memory lane.
What a fun test Lessie. Didn't get one right though so does that makes me a young kid not an old kid. Just kidding! Got 10 right did I pass your class?
I wouldn't expect anything less from you, Alicesoneysmom. Afterall, you're our youtube video Queen. Glad to bring a smile to your face because you make me smile a lot.
Sorry Lessie I didn't realize you posted the answers. Looks like I spelled hoola-hoop wrong and Freddy the Freeloader wrong. Lucky you picked the ones I remembered! ^_^
Spelling doesn't count. You scored 100+ for sharing the extra answers. Guess you're in the GT class in the well seasoned section.
That is a fun quiz… I think there could be more to the #13 question. "Bye Bye Miss American Pie" (or Miss American Pie?) was about the day the music died because the plane crash that killed Buddy Holly also killed The Big Bopper and Richie "La Bamba" Valens (Valenzuela), three great musicians coming into their own as stars. I not only am old enough (seasoned, Lessie) to remember that, but if anyone saw the movie "La Bamba", the fatal air flight was chronicled towards the end of Richie Valens' biopic. I'd say the song was a tribute to all three, because the music world lost a lot that night of the plane crash.
I saw "La Bamba" and "American Pie." You're absolutely right, three great musicians died that night–Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and J.P. "The Big Bopper" Richardson.
Lessie, I did get two wrong I am honest about everything no matter how embarrassing or how
invasive. Gee, as a group I guess we did pretty well. How do you think your question survey
did?
No problem, SandyLA. I couldn't recall every answer either. As far as I'm concerned, the quiz accomplished its purpose–everyone seemed to enjoy their walk down memory lane. That to me means everyone received an "A."
Thank you for that post it was very helpful, and I would be in and over the clouds if I won, that it does not matter if there is still snow or not I am there for the house everything else comes in second.
How beautiful this would sound in the Stowe DH. I wasn't able to get to your comments about how much you enjoyed listening to this amazing artist. Thank you for sharing your stories. Soney and I are touched by his music as well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_txYBx3bgXE&fe…
Enjoyed the music, pictures, flowers, and water fountain. But I'm sure the creator of the video loved the water fountain. He or she inserted it in the video as often as possible.
As usual, thanks for the youtube video, Alicesoneysmom. Yes, I'm sure the winner will enjoy listening to it..
So beautiful. I so enjoy his music. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Gail, for the new vlog. That was a great decorating idea you shared with us. Looking forward to the next vlog. lol
Thank you Gail for sharing a close-up view of a nice design idea … I love the photos of the birch bark — it's so beautiful and textural. Since these trees naturally shed their bark, I have collected it over the years and used it in collage and in handmade cards. I like how Linda has used this photo gallery to accent the theme of indigenous natural materials into the home. I hope to see more close-ups of the other wonderful pieces of artwork in this home!
What a beautiful comment Both_sides_now. I can just see you collecting the bark over the years, and making them into artwork. How fantastic it would be as one of the recipients of your fine saveable cards.
Thanks for sharing the decorating ideas!! It is kind of like having our own personal home interior decorator. You either have decorating skills or you just plain don't. I fall into the category of just plain don't. So any idea for decorating my home is greatly appreciated. I love how so much of nature is brought into the Dream home. Texas is know for it's blue bonnets and last year for a date my husband and I took pictures of blue bonnets in different setting. So we could easily use this idea with the pictures we took. Thanks you so much for sharing the decorating tips from the Dream Home. Looking forward to hearing more decorating ideas. Thanks agian you guys rock!!! (I am told I Rock by the Y kids I counsel)
Hi again, Gail! I thoroughly enjoyed your personal tour of the Master Bedroom and Bath. It gave me a better sense of the volume in the space, but I still have a request! I love that Linda salvaged the antique tub … but how deep is it? Maybe you could sneak back in at sunrise and show us first-hand … Just thought I'd ask!
Speaking of birch bark and master baths, I found this artist, Lenore (Lenny) Lampi who creates these absolutely beautiful and intricate ceramic vessels and wall art pieces that resemble birch trees … Wouldn't one of her wall pieces look gorgeous on the wall next to the antique tub?
http://www.lenorelampi.com/images/Gallery/index.h… http://www.artfulhome.com/product/Lenore-Lampi/Gr…
This is what's so fun about the Dream Home blog … You can dream and wear (as one blogger coined it) the "designer-after-the-fact" hat, and it doesn't cost a penny!
Nice links, Both_sides_now. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful birch bark! Hard to believe they're porcelain cylinders.
wow, what a great wall idea for everyones house..love that DH
I am head over heels for this home. My father was an architect who designed homes very much like this. Everyone in my family has one of his creations to live in. Unfortunately, he passed away before I had my chance to work with him on the design of my dream home. His final project was my sister's father-in-law's dream home in Vermont, and the HGTV dream home 2011 reminds me of his final masterpiece. It would be an honor to call this house home! He loved Stowe…
Would enjoy seeing a picture of another of your father's wonderful homes!
Here's some links to pictures of one of his designs…
http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=677482&…
http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=677473&…
I can see where the similarities to the Dream Home are.
Sandra, the home is beautiful. Your father was truly gifted.
Great home, and it's in Vermont, too! Thanks for sharing this.
WOW! That is some Canosa Dream Home!! Love it!!
Thanks for sharing! ! ! !
I wish it was my dream home! It's someone else's dream home that my Dad designed. I never had the chance to work with him on my own. However, growing up with his influences, I know beautiful architecture when I see it. The HGTV dream and green homes rarely disappoint.
Your dad sure knew how to design them!!
Speaking of artwork, here is more eye-candy for your viewing pleasure created by an 80-year-old masterful painter, Rolland Golden. He paints in a realistic style and works in watercolor, oils/acrylics, lithos, and mixed media. I loved these two lithographic prints depicting autumn leaves changing … I can imagine these prints hanging these in the Master Bedroom! " http://www.artfulhome.com/product/The-Nahan-Colle… http://www.artfulhome.com/product/The-Nahan-Colle…
He also did a series of charming paintings about cows and the Holstein ("Udderly Cold Noelle"). One of my personal favorites is "California Dreaming". The piece's title is a bit of irony as the cows are idling in a snowy pasture. Here's the link:
http://www.rollandgolden.com/cows.html
As you can tell, I'm a bit of an art lover!
The Holstein cow link reminded me of the Dream Home Holstein cow Annalisa received when touring the Teddy Bear factory. Thanks for sharing your art links Both_sides_now.
I love these, both_sides_now! They belong in the DH. Thank you for sharing this.
I can't wait to pick up the keys to the car and home! I will be joined by my son who served in Afghanistan and my other 3 adult children and their families. It will be a wonderful reunion and fantastic time! Fingers crossed and so excited to start packing!!
Oh I almost forgot to ask.. Since I am a nurse and will be working and/or teaching, how far is the nearest hospital and nursing college? Thanks so much for letting dreams come true!
Can someone please explain this to me. While these dreamhomes are gorgeous, anyone who wins it plus the car and $500K gets a 1099 and has to pay taxes on the cost of the home and car etc. To my knowledge, maybe only one person who actually won was ever able to keep the house due to tax liabilities so what's the point?
Personally I think far more people could be benefited by providing dozens of homes that people could actually keep for less money
If you're not already "loaded" even the $500K isn't going to pay the tax bill on this place since you have to pay tax on that too.
Don't mean to be a "Debbie Downer" but I just don't get it, it's more of a big tease than a big win no matter how you look at it.
Dragonfly, you may be correct but that's not how I see it. This is a Dream Home blog and we dream about owning the home, even though no blogger has ever won. If I win, then I'll think about the tax stuff. Until then, I'm dreaming.
Welcome Dragonfly to the Dream Home Blog Family … You'll find lots of friends here and well seasoned bloggers who have addressed this question in a number of unique ways. Please explore the last couple of threads and you will have a greater perspective on how this is a win-win situation for everyone, including the lucky one who is chosen as this year's recipient of the Dream Home … See "Kitchen Design and Storage Details" thread, Page 6 – DBCoop's post, for starters; RJM Stone also crunched some $$$ numbers (and some various options) on a couple of threads, too. This sweepstakes is an opportunity to dream so have some fun with it! There are no rules here, and the best part is, if you love treasure hunts, you have come to the right place. Everyone here has jewels of wisdom, dreams and experiences to share. Take care!
Also see the "Questions" thread … it will take some time to get through all the comments, but it's definitely worth the "scroll." Look for CAP57's thorough analyses on several different posts there. And to quote, dreamn_again: " This year they're being completely financially realistic by offering a cash option for the home value, so if the winner couldn't afford to keep it and wait for a buyer to come along they're still going to be significantly ahead after the income tax bills are paid, um enough to buy one of those $300,000 plus homes in a less dreamy location and less dreamy design, but closer to income sources, friends, and family they're used to…."
Love your response to Dragonfly, Both_sides_now. Brilliant example of what this blog has to offer.
Dragonfly2213, the tax bill will probably be in the $750-800,000 range, but you could use the $500,000 to pay the tax plus get a mortgage. Then, you could keep it for your family's use and rent it out the rest of the time to pay the mortgage. Or, you can take the cash option ($1.1 million and you keep the car, too.) You could accept the house and car, immediately put up the house for sale – unfurnished , and use the proceeds to pay the tax and buy a smaller place which could now be fully furnished with DH furnishings. Lots of options this year. Plus, it is fun to DREAM. GLTU
*Sigh*
So funny skiing in Stowe how much fun is that! http://il.youtube.com/watch?v=NCJLDOQYqAE&fea…
Ohh this is another good one. I love it!
This house is amazing but I don't see any closets and where is the main bathroom? (powder room) So if someone has to go to the bathroom which bathroom do they use without going into a bedroom? I'm curious about this one.. was this a design flaw? Or maybe the bathroom is not shown in the floor plan?
Are you looking for the powder room on the first floor or the lower floor, Topaz2632?
One of the photos shows a bathroom right off of the mud room. On the ground floor, I expect you'd use the dorm bathroom.
The dream home closets aren't featured much unless there's significant sponsor product there. Ah the mystery of the disappearing powder room… Same with the powder rooms each year. Its normally in there but its not highlighted and people miss it if they don't know where to look. The pictures section shows some. but not all, of these hidden details.
Fun stuff ladies!!! I'm gonna do that with some of our aspen trees in our yard here in Colorado! Love it!
Thank you Mary! I love the ideas its got me wanting to do some new things for spring!
This past September, I lost my Dad. I also lost my job.trying to care for my parents .My Mom is paralyzed and I care for her all day long… When we watch the HGTV tour on TV for the Home Give-away and see that beautiful home in Vermont…we can actually see all our family living there. The colors, the furniture, the architecture…This home was designed and decorated for us…we love everything about this home…the curb appeal is magnificant. This home is exactly what we have been dreaming of. I Asked my Mom last night if she would mind moving to Vermont and she watched the tour of the home and was completely in love….My husband and I would not change a thing in this dream home…this home was designed for our family. We talked about starting over, being married for only 5 years now…we started late in life…we need a change and we need it soon. I pray we win this HGTV Dream Home. It could change our life and save a couple from despare in California.
i look so forward to what Mary will do next. I am still hoping to see the closets and mostly to hear that about a pantry. i will definatly need a pantry to stock all the food for all of our visitors. My 11 year old asks me every day if i have entered and has a white board on the fridge with the number of days left till we win our dream home. I can just see my family and friends there. All my Virginia friends are going to love visiting me there in summer and winter.
Thanks for the great idea Gail!!!;) Can't wait to here more!
They always tell us to treat our apartments like our homes too so how about a contest for apt dwellers only so they can at least GET a house Not that they're excluded from this one but they compete with others who already have their own homes and just want a better one. Those of us stuck in apartments would be happy just to have a home, it certainly doesn't need to be this grandiose. There isn't even a show to help people decorate anything but a house, not fair.
Wow, I can't even imagine how hard it would be for HGTV or anyone else to determine who has an apartment instead of a home. What I love about these sweepstakes is that the drawing is totally random. Anybody can win, whether they have a home or not. I think that's great!
You are so right. But I think they should have a contest for women over 50, born in a month starting with S and have brown eyes and brown hair and all the taxes are paid and it's located in Hawaii (I threw the last part in for Cami).
Oh, Sweet Liz, I am so fond of you. Don't forget to add that there should be a main floor powder room, as they may have forgotten that in this year's DH.
Main Floor has a powder room – between the mudroom & the entry way…there are some photos toward the end of the entry way thumbnails (if my memory is correct…otherwise they are at the end of the mudroom thumbnail photos)
I guess my winking emoticon didn't come across that I was joking about the powder room. It's a question that comes up often, so thanks for being helpful.
I have seen that a lot of us are reading to catch up and don't realize that there

hee hee is added for the joking response.
Thanks. I got a good laugh out of your powder room joke!
… and may I add: "have resided in or are currently residing in a state beginning with M or W …"
Thank you SweetLiz and Wyo_Girl for keeping it real! <3

Well, for starters HGTV has "Design on a Dime" featuring mostly (if not all) apartment make-overs. Then there's "For Rent" where the host not only finds an apartment for someone, but also designs and decorates one of the rooms. And we also have "Income Property" with Scott McGillivray, who renovates and decorates an entire apartment in someone's home. There might be others, but those are the ones I'm familiar with.
I live in an apartment and have never owned my own home, but neither situation (renting or owning) makes one more or less deserving.
