A Closer Look at the Doggie Dream Home
You’re in for a treat! Today, in honor of the last day of the HGTV Dream Home 2011 Giveaway entry period, I offer you a Super Fan double feature. Take a peek. And don’t forget to enter twice today — before 5 p.m. EST.

I'm going to make a promise to our twin boys, if I win the Dream House our boys will get the dog they've been dreaming about!
i wonder if theres a morgage on the house
No..no mortgage.. but there are property taxes.. and then income taxes both federally and then possibly state depending on where you live.
Good luck, NorthJerzee & family !
Good luck to you as well!
My husband and I have been struggling for the past 3 years and this home would be a dream come true. We have been working hard to get a modification with Bank of America for the last 2 years and we have jumped through every hoop they have asked of us but still no answer. My husband is the most wonderful man and this would help ease the stress he has experienced. He lost his only son a few years ago from cancer at the age of 18 and my husband has handled every problem with such dignity. Getting this gift would be the best thing that he could get. What a dream come true. I know there are many deserving families that have entered this contest but my husband such a good and honorable man and so deserving a break. He is the hardest working man I know. I pray that we could win this for him and help him in the most wonderful way to ease his stress. Thank you HGTV for having all the sweepstakes where such deserving families have the opportunity to have their lives changed . Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Billie Seelye
We have 7 children and two small dogs that would fit perfectly. When looking at this house it was almost strange. It would be even more strange if we won. My husband and I were looking where we would go throughout the United States and Abroad that we would love when he retires. He was just told that his contract may be changing. He can retire currently, but chose to hang on. He will probably have to retire in about 60 days. Never has there been a house that sleeps 14 people in any contest. This would fit all of us and then grandparents could come too. Tonight we were looking and the dog house and realized it would fit both of the little dogs that we've acquired. One left with us because an elderly person was unable to care for him. So, the two sided house would fit them perfectly. We could not build a house that suits us more to more exact specifications. Not one inch of it and the location. How strange this would be if we did win. Not that we've ever won anything in our lives, so I'm not counting on it, but it would surely be amazing. Especially where it is located, just needed to share this in case we do so people realize the perfection for a family like ours. We love it there also.
Hey wait! You'll need 2 little dogs for the Doggy Dream Home!
You're right! So, if I win the DH I will buy 2 dogs to fill the Doggy Dream Home, You just made our twin boys twice as excited!
OK folks never blogged before so hopefully this works. Just had to comment on the dog house. Recently we adopted 2 lap dogs ( Affenpinsher & Ihasa Apso) from an elderly person in our small home town. A wonderful lady who was a teacher for 30+ years. She was passing away and very concerned about the dogs; she did not want them seperated. So we adopted them and would love to see them in the HGTV doggie home! Not to mention the products to clean up after the dogs!
But have they been dreaming of two ankle biters?
They would love any dog big or small, as long as it doesn't bite.
I hope you get the dog even if you do not win.. our dog has been the best, living, breathing, loveable, friend to my family. She has brought sunshine and so much love into our home.. she loves everyone and every other animal… not a bad bone in her furry little body. Dogs help make this world a better place.
Those were really cute videos Super Fan (and John…(love the empty cup..classic). We would have to open up the doggie dream home for our dog Ace (NSDTR) then he could enjoy it! So John's favorite room is the dorm room…mine is THAT KITCHEN
. I will have to go through the videos again and see if any of the floors are heated, say, in the bathrooms? I just read the forecast for Stowe is going to be 22 for a high tomorrow. brrrrr THANK YOU FOR THE NEW BLOG AND VIDEOS. p.s. You are both more than welcome to be there when I have the grand entry party!
Where in CA are you located? There are a lot of bloggers from CA on here or at least making
comments now and then. Have you entered before? Sandy
Northern CA, above Sac (I was born and raised in Sacramento, until I moved north of there). You?
I live just north of LA in the Conejo Valley!
Oh, and I've been doing this since about 2002. This year I did the online and sent in 52 mail in entries. I think last year I sent in more mail in, but only did 52 this go 'round. The closest I've come to winning was seeing a childhood friends mom when it one year, that was odd, but cool!
all of the floors are heated. The whole home is heated with radiant heating installed in the floor.
Awesome! I thought they mentioned it in the tour of the home on tv, thanks for the info…
hmmmm
good luck to all of us. It was fun to dream everytime I entered for a chance to win. Let’s all our dreams come true
This Doggie Dream Home will be perfect for my new puppy pug Gizmo! <3
i would love to have that for my husbands new dog i got her for when he had a brain stroke to help him recover and she is the best dog now just turned a year and is so sweet and playful.she is a poemeranion and you willey could not ask for a better dog what kind of dog do you have nice getting to make some new friends on a great site for all of us to dream sherri carr
Hi Sherri! Awww – I love pomeranians! They have such sweet faces
She would fit nicely into this doggie home. What's her name?
We just got Gizmo last Saturday – he's a 10 week old black pug and I feel like I'm raising a toddler! I can barely keep up with him, but he has opened up a new place in my heart.
Best of luck!
knfish–I LOVE the name Gizmo (and came close to picking that name 10 yrs. ago when we got our Boston Terrier), and secondly, next to Bostons I LOVE black pugs ! All pugs are cute but the black ones are my favorite. Congratulations on your new family addition– it will be like raising a toddler, but so worth it. On our Boston's first night home, I snuggled in with him on the couch (could not put him in a crate at 9 wks. old). I had just purchased a new, rubber dust pan and it was on the kitchen floor, (never been used and still clean) next to the refrigerator. I woke up to find our puppy curled up in the brand new dust pan–he liked the warmth and hum of the motor from the refrigerator ! SOOOO cute–can't believe he was tiny enough to fit in a dust pan– LOL.
@sherri–I am sorry to hear of your husband's stroke and agree your dog will do wonders for your husband's recovery. Our dog was a year old when my husband had some head injuries in a head-on collision. My husband spent lots of time sitting in his recliner at first, and our dog never left his side. I had to work and was so glad for the company the dog gave my husband. He was a 'therapy dog' too, because he would get a tennis ball to play Fetch, jump into the recliner and use his paws to get my husband to hold the ball and throw it –hubby's right side was affected and he had a weak hand grip. Later his balance improved when he took our dog out for brief walks. We have been blessed with full recuperation, and wish you two all the best; sending prayers your way. — And welcome to the blog, too ! Some great people here.
Thank you for the warm welcome LLColeman! How funny – we were so close to getting a Boston Terrier (they fit our lifestyle just like the pugs do)! Aren't they precious? We are finding more and more things about his personality everyday. What is the name of your Boston?
Best of luck to you!
knfish our dog's formal name was inspired by his feisty behavior as a puppy. He ran up to my son and me and ambushed us with a quick nip, and took off, when we first got him from his littermates.. He was so wild when we got him, he reminded us of footage of actual Tasmanian 'Devils" (which are related to wolverines). He goes by Taz for short, and the AKC registry has the formal name"Tasman D'eville".
He turned out to be sweet as can be and very devoted, but he is still a whirlwind of energy. I did call him 'Gizmo' for the first 2 days he came to us, because of his huge ears, and behavior like the creatures in the movie 'Gremlins,' who ate after midnight and turned into little monsters. Taz suited him better..
her name is jashman diamond pearls carr i think i spelled that wright i just got her papers back today and about that dog house i love the plaid pattern in side i just do .i am not a good speller sorry it took me a while to get how to work this laptop but now it seams to come on just right .i was youse to the desktop.till it stop working .i would love to have a new laptop i have to wait a while on that .sherri carr
u almost won cuz i think the person who won lives in Iowa have a great day
:):):):):):):):):P
Doggie Dream Home?! Where's the storage space vlog?
I don't see ANY closets in the Doggie Dream Home!:)
Me either, Katieismypal!
Lessie,
Thanks for being so kind. If I can't win, I really hope that it is you! You are very kind!
You are too kind, 1dream4me2. Hold onto your dreams until March 12th or March 19th. You have the same opportunity to be selected as everyone else who entered. Dream BIG!
OMG…we've all been waiting so long for this whole thing to begin…and now it's finally coming to an end!! Did everyone enter as often as you could (if not everyday??) and did you send your mail in entries too?? I know my cats would LOVE that sleeping area in the master bedroom… *sigh* This is going to be such an amazing pick me up for whomever is the lucky winner! Good luck to all, don't forget you have until 5pm EST today to enter!!! Woot Woot!!!
o i did my enteries every day but the funny thing i was to late to get the last vote in may be not i did get it in yeasterday and this morning it would be a great start in are life to own a home and one thing to make a wish for my husband who has bean sick recovering from lung cancer surgery two years ago and had a brain stroke this past jan 18 while i just willey looked at the day .i hope good for all to win .sherri carr
Didn't have time to enter only once, but watch HGTV every day. My Television is always on that channel so much that my husband laughs about it. Wish I had better odds, Oh well. And it's perfect for our 9 member family and two dogs and two cats! I'm not sure about that weather though. When you retire your suppose to go to warmth. Oh and how are the schools? I have five little ones that would still be in school. My other two already went to law school…..
Thanks for the kitchen interview with John, Gail. Deerspring will love it!!!!!
I think she will, too, Lessie. I had to reply to one of her previous comments so she'd see it in her email and race on over here!
What a pleasant surprise for Deerspring. She closes out the sweeps with a vlog of John. Bet it made her day, Wyo_Girl.
I am trying to figure out what all this means. So, if they replied then they have our email, and that means something?
1dream4me2, in my mind it's like this: Bloggers comment about what's on their mind. Another blogger might respond to that person's comment and the two of them can go back and forth or other bloggers can join in the conversation. But then there's always someone from HGTV reading blogger comments–who has the power to delete inappropriate comments.
To answer your question, it means absolutely nothing! Just lets us know HGTV is aware of the comments we're writing on the blog. They don't get our emails though. They read the blogs and respond or not respond. Right now they're not responding since we don't have a vlog of all the storage space, particularly the closets, in the Dream Home.
There should be a " Giddy for Giddings Club"–or is there one already ? LOL
Thanks so much for the Super Fan double feature! It sort of lessens the blow of it all ending. The addition of John was fun — he's so cute. If my husband or I win, the ski weekend invitation is extended — that's a promise (with room for 10 more!). Thanks for all the information, creativity, entertainment, and work that made this contest much more than a contest. I'll miss you all.
My last entries are sent. Its good to see more about the doggie dream home and kitchen from superfan Gail…
I love the doggie dream home but we'd have to open it up for my border collie and jack russel to fit in it— they like to snuggle =) Although, since we live in california I don't know if they would be able to visit it with us. Well, I guess I'll just bring that home with me and they can enjoy it year around instead of just on vacations!
Actually, better yet, I'll give it to one of the bloggers! NorthJerzee… would getting the (Doggie) Dream Home be good enough for your twins to get that dog they've been dreaming about? I can deliver it myself when I'm driving my Denali back to California!
It is ok they can keep it as it is. This is the first time I see the Doggie house. I am breathless completely in tears I feels like if this house was created for my family. This house is perfect for my two daughters my two foster children, my two Chihuahuas and for myself. I can easely make an adiction to my family more children. WOW….And if I do not win and you do and want to donate the doggi house for Sidney Delilah.
There's even chihuaha pictures in the doggie dream house… maybe it is meant for you!
Thanks, but no thanks. We want the real DH and the boys want a real dog!
That would be excellent as it's so hard reading that the twin boys will have to do without a dream dog. To see it pitched at them only if your a winner is just hard to know it as you stated it. The odds are just too huge to calculate against them getting a great loving dog they could & would probably cherish when it makes a difference to them. I'm sad for them already.
That is the so sweet of you to offer and part with the little dream doggie home, but then give it a delivery to see someone take a step to get their boys a dreamy dog. A puppy maybe like having another child, but what a child that dog becomes. They absolutely adore you as you adore them back with loving everything you do for them without being a teenager, complaining, whining or anything.
I love dogs, all kinds, but, probably you get that don't you.
I always sound really harsh when I offer up a thought or another opinion than what's given. Not trying to rain on your parade here.
Well, if I am that one in a million winner, I'll deliver the doghouse with a puppy in it! Who can say no to that?!
No worries about sounding harsh. I love dogs too and you're right, they are a big responsibility… but how many responsibilities come with unconditional love?!?!
Very glad you could understand the good spirit it was given from a dog lovers perspective. B)
Oh ya on dogs unconditional love given, <3
I was really hoping for some new videos. Saw these long ago.
Wow, a double feature! I need popcorn. Deerspring is going to flip when she sees John Gidding. He is her favorite!
Mine, too!! I hope he comes with house! I could relocate my husband to the doggie dream home!
LOL!
Too funny, Vermontlover.
We should buy one of those Popcorn Machines on Wheels for the Refreshment Center!;)
Wyo Girl…I was born in Star Valley. Of course The hospital is now a home…LOL How do you feel about moving back east? I don't know if I could leave such a beautiful place as Star Valley. But…I had no choice. My parents moved me. Stowe has a lot more humidity, but I am wondering how much snow it gets–compared to Wyoming. Anyway, just thought I would ask. Have a great day girl! Teresa
This new blog came in about an hour after I put in a plea for bloggers to help me out. Most people jump over to the latest blog, so I am afraid my post will be missed. I REALLY do want more information about Napa, and who else has the same interests than you bloggers? Please help me! Here's my original post:
Since I have submitted my last two entries and we have to wait a couple of weeks for the ambush, my husband (Wyo Boy) and I are going to Napa next week! We'll be celebrating our 20th anniversary. Besides driving by the 2009 Sonoma Dream Home, does anyone have good recommendations for restaurants or other activities? Which are the best wineries to visit? Thanks for your help! I know this is a little off-topic, but I thought you'd indulge me if I mentioned the 2009 Dream Home!
My husband is the former owner of a NAPA store but I'm afraid any information I have about that won't help you out much. LOL!
So funny, DHWinner! Wyo Boy is a motorhead, so I think we've got that angle covered. I can't imagine we're going to see any restaurants with that big yellow hat on it, will we?
I seriously doubt it, but if by chance you do, I wouldn't suggest eating there!
St. Supery Vineyards and Winery (stsupery.com) maybe they'll have an event under the "event" tab that would interest you. There are so many great places to viist. I just like this wine in particular! It is located in Rutherford. Calistoga is cute too. I took a mud bath there once, what an experience (not sure i'd do it again, but glad a tried it). Good luck, happy anniversary!!
Thank you so much! I already have St. Supery on my possible list, as I hear they have great Sauvignon Blancs, my favorite. It definitely makes the cut now. I will probably skip the mud bath, though!
Hey Wyo_Girl — I have a bunch of errands to do today, but saw your post, so really quickly ….
I've never visited the Napa Valley, but I have been to Sonoma … it's incredibly beautiful country with many small wineries as well as several large ones. Sonoma County is over a million acres and has 13 different wine appellates … that's a lot of territory. I would definitely travel up Wine Road (Hwy 101) toward Russian River Valley (Geyserville) and Healdsburg. Check out Preston of Dry Creek in Healdsburg … This place is more than just a winery. It's an organic farm, too. The owners have evolved the property over time as they have embraced eco-farming and its principles. They raise sheep, and grow fruit and walnut trees, organic vegetables and also grains. You can taste and buy daily fresh-baked bread which is baked in a custom wood-fired oven … it sells out quickly so get there earlier in the day! Gotta run, but here's a link to a general map, plus there's lots of good information and suggested do-it-yourself tours on the web. You'll have a wonderful time and Happy 20th Anniversary! http://www.wineroad.com/maps/7/
Great ideas, and great map, Both Sides Now. It would be fun to see an organic farm, and the bread sounds like heaven! Maybe it can help soak up any extra wine in our bellies! Thank you so much for the ideas. I can't wait!
The best activity is wine tasting!
You might want to check into the message board on winecountry .com.
http://www.winecountry.com/cgi-bin/ubb/Ultimate.c…
I have looked at many sites, but this one was new to me, so thank you so much, NorthJerzee! It was fun to read what other bloggers wrote about Napa. It's not as fun as reading what Dream Home bloggers write, but it was still fun! I got some good ideas and I appreciate the link.
Wyo_Girl, if you want to read what Dream Home bloggers wrote about Napa Valley and Sonoma, please visit the 2009 Dream Home blogs. Everything to be explored was written about in the blog. Even had a neighbor near the Dream Home who blogged.
Happy 20th Anniversary to you two…almost, but let me be the 1st to give you Congratulations!
1. Do the wine train where all is taken care of while you go down the tracks, lovely, meal, touring at sunset and wine tasting with fixed amount of people just like you. Have to look to see if any tickets are available yet, but fun and memorable time to be had. Maybe other options are available with this time of year?
2. Got to go over the Golden Gate bridge and go to the park on both side & take a pics, usually windy on the park side away up the coast, so be prepared on the bridge side up to the wineries. You'll probably recognize the one park with being in quite a few movies as a backdrop. Can't think of the parks name but it's Graham or Gresham XXx something or something like that or ? Artist take classes out there it's kind of unique and little fun to see.
3. The wineries look up online the pages which ones meet your interest. I'd start with a search for Napa Valley CA wineries and take it from there. They are clustered alot of them, but some are better than others with their showypersonship that work at them. You just don't always know who has a good show or good people hired for when you visit. Some are just more engaging with us customers. What some like, others maynot at all, so take a peak at them online and you'll have good choices you like then.
Plus the info of how to get to them, testing times, tours, costs and so on. Again, if your in the right frame of mind to have fun, it'll be grand and just pure sugar icing for your anniversary then. If tour is large, which takes more time, but probably not this time of year with it not being summer season…lucky you.
Go for a grand adventure, walk about too, be open-minded and look online with all your possible choices you might like to visit around the various towns. Make your grand plans,
I did my 40th birthday years ago now in Napa. A business trip with a group from work and it was just grand. Went again a few years ago, with my spouse on their business trip.
Thanks so much for the advice and the good wishes, PFG!
Thanks & the time is almost here…here's to your adventure, smiling loads & to all the laughter to be forthcoming for you both.
My 20th was with me on the other side of the world in United Arab Emirates, (UAE) for some time on business. A very generous people there and so many people from all over the world visit or live there. UAE had & has developments going up everywhere & keeps going. Loved the build & watching it with the huge hotel that looks like a sailboat. So many fabulous buildings, but that was grand the sailboat on the horizon & with taking on the scale it does with what it is. Now, the coast with all it's vastly huge beautiful grand palaces are just a marvel to drive around or be in with their grandeur. So many stories to say.
Enjoy!
Happy 20th Anniversary, Wyo_Girl!!!! Enjoy your trip!
Thanks, Lessie. It will be fun!
Dear Wyo_Girl and Wyo_boy get in touch with Coop, he is a whiz kid in Cali and I know he must know this area like the back of his hand. Happy Happy Anniversary to a remarkable gal and her guy. I think when you get to Napa Valley you will love it so much that you'll want to have a second home there or certainly win one of the myriad of HGTV properties.
Don't miss the Riverfront area of downtown Napa. Plenty of pubs, restaurants, shops and other venues to keep you entertained. St. Helena's Main St, is an upscale yet country-style shopping spree waiting to happen, and Calistoga's old-west style downtown is so much fun for wining, dining and gift shopping. Don't forget little Yountville's tourist venues and wonderful restaurants, and even 'don't blink or you'll miss it' Rutherford is a great stopping spot for wineries, dining, and more.
I enjoy the V. Sattui Winery, http://www.vsattui.com/ but there are many, many, many others of interest. And the restaurants!!!!
If you do get over to the Valley of the Moon and the quaint town of Sonoma, everything you read will direct you right to the main Plaza. It's another shopping extravanganza. Don't miss the Ledson Hotel and Harmony Lounge: http://ledsonhotel.com/hotel/welcome.asp You might remember that it was Steve Ledson who was the developer of the HGTV Dream Home 2009 in Sonoma's Armstrong Estates, off of the main Plaza on E. Napa St and Armstrong Drive. It is not a gated community, and well worth a drive through to admire the beautiful homes, along with the historic Ledson home itself.
Wyo_Girl did you take your Napa Valley Trip? It seems like you have been traversing all of the areas of the HGTV Homes. How fun, the wine country experince must have been. Did you feel like you wanted to get a place in Napa, and did you find a favorite restaurant? Maybe you should be doing your own show on HGTV. How was your trip, and can you post any adventures you had on your wonderful anniversary
Love the Doggie Dream Home! A tad small for our pooch…..it would be a riot watching her try to squeeze in there! Eventually, she'd settle for using a cushion for a pillow…..leaving her body on the comfy carpet!
Love the kitchen more every time I see it!
John and Superfan…YOU ARE WELCOME ANY TIME SHOULD I WIN!! John, I will fill that mug of yours with whatever beverage you wish, and I make the best banana pancakes this side of Mount Mansfield! Gosh, how great it would be to meet the wonderful people involved in building this gorgeous home! And yes, I agree, John looks absolutely adorable pretending to drink coffee!
Okay, now back to crossing my fingers and praying for the next 3 weeks!!
Hi vermontlover … Ooh yummm, banana pancakes! To celebrate the winner, I'm going to make Banana Bread-Bread Pudding with Banana Ice Cream on top FOR Breakfast! … I usually serve caramelized bananas too, but I'm going to try substituting authentic Vermont maple syrup instead of brown sugar … I can hardly wait!
Okay, you win!! YUMMY!!
u must luv snow!!?!?!?!?!?
This dreamer all ready has two little lap dogs! The thing that amazes me as much as this big, beautiful dream home nestled in the mountains is the fact that my two dogs look just like the two on the right side of the Doggie Dream Home! I've been saying all along that it was designed for them. I mean, what's the likelihood of this being a coincidence??? When I saw the Doggie Dream Home on the Dreamhome special, I nearly fell off the sofa. I've played it for everyone who has come by since. When they see those two dogs up close on the TV screen, they yell out my dog's names. "MiMi! Lily!" Superfan and John, you're invited!
Oh, I almost forgot to mention that the crown is for our Lily and the sombrero for MiMi. Lily is definitely the "Queen Dog" and MiMi is totally Mexican. Looks like our third Chihuahua is going to be black & white.
Ha Ha! I love it!
Fantastic video Gail and John! Since I have a bakery business this kitchen is my favorite room in the house and would see a ton of use. Who wouldn't like to have John sitting at the island waiting for a cup of coffee?! My 2 lynxpoint siamese cats would love the doggy dream home. I have made my final 2 entries so now comes the wait. I am nervously excited waiting for the knock on my door! Must get my balloons tied out front , house all tidied up and bake some cookies for the ambush crew! Good luck everyone!!!
That's a great point, Sanda_ks! I know in the past some of the bloggies have really gotten into the spirit and tied balloons to their mailbox.. what should the colors be this year?? They will reveal the colors they chose when they select the winner..they will be tied to the bins and on the huge banner they post in the back ground.. I wonder if they're going to go with the exterior colors of Stowe or if they're going to go with the interior warm colors that Linda Woodrum created within the house… I'm very curious!! Thank you for posting that – now you've got my gears and wheels moving while we wait for March 2!!
AH ! he looks adorable inside the Dream Home is he part of the package ?
and yes I do like the doggy Dream Home
Hi my friend, it's terrific seeing you. I was wondering about the sweet as sugar snowy puckered up face of a dog.Ya feel like you could give em a big hug, and I'll bet that dog is a hugger.
Hello Ms. Janzee how are you, he looks adorable right I hope he is a huger?nice talking to you. From: notifications@intensedebatemail.comTo: echopixel@hotmail.comSubject: Janzee replied to your comment on A Closer Look at the Doggie Dream Home
Hi lovey, I would adopt that character and long as he had a sweet disposition. Something whispered to me that he is a hugger, and quite the performer. Love to hear your thoughts about things so keep coming back okay?
Good luck to everyone. Some lucky dog's going to win it!! Just by chance-;)
Good luck to you too, Cami!
Just by chance? Are you sure? Good Luck Cami!
I'm screaming. There are a few folks that do that to me, and I cant contain myself. You are a very funny girl. At first I saw this as a double entendre, and then looked back at it pure and simple. By some "chance", as you say, a dog could very easily win.
Some lucky dog indeed! The minimum eligible age is 21 you know. Now, would that be in dog years, or human years?
Perhaps I should've said some lucky rabbits going to win it, since I don't even have a dog. I'd sure like to believe in luck since I have two lucky (live) rabbits with 4 lucky rabbits feet each. Plus it's the year of the rabbit in China, which is supposed to be extra lucky.
I just found out though, that If I don't receive money in a red envelope soon, I won't be quite as lucky as people who have. So I'm trying to find a red envelope so I can put money in it and give it to myself. I wonder if that'll work. I've tried everything possible to be extra lucky this year, even though I say, I don't believe in luck, I believe in chance. If I do win this year, I may have to re-evaluate my thinkng on luck and chance.
WOW!!! I did not realize how truly beautiful that ceiling is…And I dont think I have ever fallen in love with a range hood…until now. Wow, wow, wow…
I think I'd have to hire a professional to come and clean it, yikes! It is gorgeous those, that kitchen.
I Chihuahua!!! How adorable. Best excuse ever to get that little Cairn Terrier I've always wanted. "There's no place like home; there's no place like home; there's no place like home " I going to keep on wishing
So clever wishwell, and you have an adorable name to go along with your wish for a Cairn Terrier. I've always been partial to that little todo as well. And I dont mean the Todo potty.
Our little Pomeranian, Blue-Bear, will LOVE the doggy dream home!! We'll even have to get another little friend to keep him company in his new luxury home. Hear that Blue!? You get a girlfriend!… **Barks with Joy**
I'm so excited! I can't wait for the "dream team" to show up at my front door. …I can assure you there will be tears of joy =) My hand hurts from filling out and mailing over 500 entries! Fwew. It will be worth the wrist pain.
HmSwtDreamHm, I guarantee your hand will stop hurting if you're the winner of the 2011 Dream Home! Enjoy the wait.
i have a poemeranion to and she is so sweet if i won i would let her have a vist with your dog thats pretty sweet to have a new friend for each other i sean a white poemeranian in the news papper today for adoption but i think i will wait to get another dog one is anuff to love.she is my husbands i got her for him to help him out with recovering from a brain stroke and she is great dog.goog luck to everybody .
You are more then welcome to come have a doggie date with Blue-Bear! He and I love the company and there is plenty of room =)
You spent over $220 on postage? I don't think I could be that dedicated. I'd rather have groceries for the month and enter for free! Good luck.
agreed!
Well, 168 of the 500 were from online entries. So I only spent $150 on stamps I suppose… still a lot but it was only a little over $20 a week. I gladly gave up my morning coffee for a better chance at winning the Dream Home. A home is all I've ever wanted so it was well worth the dedication!!
woww and i thought 150 would be a lot!
thats sounds great ,, and i voted for rachel.. i would love to win this home , cant wait , deff. would b a dream come true , and i great 30th b day present since my b day is 2/24. good luck to all ,,
The doggie home is a cute added flair for the master bedroom. Now my Shaggie has a cozy sleep spot. This is a great looking home with amazing views for the family and even the family dog. I know my two teenage sons and I would love to win this paradise in the mountains home. We have our fingers crossed that we could be so lucky to win this amazing home…

Is 2/24 when they draw?
Good Luck Buffalowinner.
My little baby Boo will love the doggy dream home. And her best friend Gabby can come visit and they will each have their own room lol.
Gail and Mary …. Thank you for the Double Feature, this ought to give us something to chew on and sip on for a while! Now that doghouse is really adorable, except my Sydney wouldn't fit inside I'm afraid! It would be the coolest little hideaway for my girlfriend's little yappers, Pepi and Fifi … so if I win, I just might have to give the doghouse to her! What a pleasant surprise to see John again … Doesn't he have the most infectious smile ever? Well, let him know he can come visit me anytime at the Dream Home, and of course, my ladies, you are invited too … So let's do lunch, okay?
On second thought … maybe the doghouse needs to be changed to the Kittyhouse … If I won this fabulous Dream Home, I would love to give the "Kittyhouse" to Me_ for Khaz and Simi!
Both_sides_now, I accept your lunch invitation.
Lunch sounds great. Soney wants to do lunch too. Yes John is a cutie pie!
i was hoping and thought we would get a blog today!!!! Thank you. I loved that both Gail and John were in the video. Thank you. DREAM BIG! Good Luck to all
Does anyone know or is there another blog that talks about the outdoor space? Specifically property boundaries? Is it the tree line out front? How far down below? Just curious. Maybe I'll have to watch the special again.
yeah I was having the same question, it looks like it just drops off on one side.
All I know so far is that the lot size is approx an 1/2 acre…which on a sloping downhill lot isn't very big..but it also depends on if they put the house towards the back of the property boundary lines or if they plunked it in the front..or the middle, etc.. I don't know why they don't put up a parcel map and then layer the house on top so you have an idea of "where" it all is in relation to things.. See this, Gail?? Ideas for improvements!!!
Love the doggie dream home. We are fostering a pug now. I'll definitely have to adopt her along with more girls to go into the ski dorm when we win the dream home. Thanks for all the info Super Fan. I will have to learn to cook soon in the chef's kitchen. Stowe here we come.
Wouldn't these guys look adorable in that doggie dream home??!! We'll adopt as soon as we hear that knock on our door!! Seriously, take a peek at these puppies!

Those pups are adorable! I love the mix — we had beagle-mix dogs when I was growing up, and our current terrier mix is part rat terrier, so I am fond of both breeds. Hope they all find good homes.
Me, too! I figured I'd be helping out their local shelters if I posted the link.
Too cute!
It's all come down this this ladies & gents… In less than one hour all of the votes will be locked-in. Finger's crossed for me and my family, including our two "ankle biters" who would be very cozy in their doggie dream home!
The doggie dream house is fancy; your designers thought of everyone! Although a bit tight for my standard poodles, my daughter's rescued Shih- tsu would feel like a king, complete with crown!
I've enjoyed following the 2011 Dream House Sweepstakes daily. Thanks.
woot woot! can't believe today is the last day to enter…i've gotten so used to it, it's like a daily ritual!:) hope the next month goes by quickly to see if I've won!!! super excited!:)
Good luck all my blogger friends! Thank you HGTV for the opportunity to enter this gorgeous home. You really outdo yourself every year!
Hi 1LMichele yips and hollers, so glad to see you and read your comments.
Okay, it's officially "in the books"… The countdown is over! Tune into the HGTV Dream Home 2011 Giveaway special on March 19 at 8 p.m. ET.
It says we can chat with Super Fan on the Blog. Did I misunderstand that sentence? Where are you Gail?
Ok Gail I'm still waiting for you?
The doggie home is so cute! Sadly, if I do win, my poor dogs won't be able to fit! Even if I did open it up! I guess they can use the cushions as pillows!
Seriously… the "doggy dream home" instead of the storage??? I guess I'll have to store my shoes in it since my dogs are too big (they'll fit in the master walk in closet, I hope).
If I win, look for the doggy dream home on EBay.
I would love to get a dog (or two) to live in the doggie dream home with me. Currently I work about 60 hours a week and my husband and I have stayed away from bringing a pet in the home. We want to be responsible pet owners and neither of us is home enough to properly take care of a pet. I am allergic to cats and so a duo of dainty dogs would be the ticket. Hopefully, if I was to win the dream home, I might be able to stay home more and we could get one or two dogs to share our new lifestyle. Cutest little doggie home I have ever seen!

Wow, two Super Fan freebies today, no less!
Well, when it comes to the doggie dream home, my new little terrier puppy (female) would fit perfectly. As a matter of fact, it would become a doggie master suite, with a bedroom on one side and sitting/reading/play room on the other! I'll give her the tiara, and I'll take the sombrero….
Funny that Super Fan Gail and John Gidding would happen to run into each other at the Dream Home. I wonder what John G. was doing there? Did he just drop in from the ski slopes for a cup of java?
Thanks for the special video treat, MARY. It was just what I needed — an uplifting moment from the dynamic Dream Home duo as we wait for the thrill of victory, or…no I can't even go there. Defeat is blocked from my Dream Home vocabulary…until proven otherwise. B)
Coop, do you have a new dog? If so, congratulations!
Thank you. Yes, CplusE, after more than a year of being dogless, I took the plunge and adopted an eight month old terrier. I think she's cuter than my current avatar, which is understandable, since ceramic is nice but the real thing is pure joy.
Needless to say, the Stowe Doggie Dream Home will certainly come in handy.
Awww, Coop you are a doggie dad ! What type of terrier is the lucky lady ? My older son and I each have male Boston Terriers….all terriers are quite smart little beings, and so much fun.
Wow, over a year! When I lost my first Dalmatian, I could only handle two dogless months before I had to adopt our two rescued Dals, and our terrier mix chose us a year later. Once you become accustomed to having dogs in the house, doglessness in no longer an option! Enjoy your new companion — when will that cutie become your next avatar? LOL!
Our 4 yr old Golden Retriever Jameson would LOVE this home! Good luck to everyone!
The doggy dream home is adorable. I don't think I have ever been as obsessed on entering a contest that was as much fun as this one. Every day looking at the house and all it had to offer, and the doggy dream house just took the cake with the little crown which I have a chihuahua named Princess and a yorkie named Mitzee for the sombrero. This would be a dream come true for anyone and I wish each and every one of us the best of luck. Oh and let me add watching the clock countdown was like New Years Eve LOL! I was insane!!!
29 DAYS…and counting
LOL! I wonder if I'll have any hair left by then, I'll have to borrow some from my poochies.xD
Ur so right.. I've always wanted a YORKIE
great reason to get TWO!!!
When I got home, I decided to go thur the photo's and behold the pug and David's creative model of that dreammm home.Looks super David !!!
If a child has the imagination that could be a dolls dream home
Going to listen to what Gail saying about that little dream. You haven't let us down, you go girl !!
Thanks Mary, Gail and John. We enjoyed the double feature very much especially the doggie dream home. Although Soney said he wouldn't be able to fit in it he will use it to store all of his squeaky toys, tennis balls and stuffed animals and don't forget his bones. He said he had dibs on that chair next to the doggie dream home. That bed looks mighty inviting too! Anyway we found two video clips that are dated February 17, 2011. Can you imagine seeing this view from your very own DH windows. Stowe is a very special place for Soney and me. We have had a great time researching all the beautiful things Stowe has to offer. http://www.youtube.com/user/StoweMountain#p/u/0/o…
Thanks for the video, Alicesoneysmom. Love looking at the snow in Stowe.
Cute Dog House. It would be perfect for our Golden Doodle puppy! As she gets bigger I'd renovate the divider in the middle to make more room for her. Doggie Dream Home for Lucy, Ski Dorm for the kids (Papa too on occasion), Kitchen and hot tub for Mom, & "60 tv in the living area for Papa (NFL Games…Woo Hoo!). I also love the grilling area. Good Luck Bloggers!
OMG! John's smile and teeth are gorgeous!!!
