A Closer Look at the Doggie Dream Home
You’re in for a treat! Today, in honor of the last day of the HGTV Dream Home 2011 Giveaway entry period, I offer you a Super Fan double feature. Take a peek. And don’t forget to enter twice today — before 5 p.m. EST.

My chinese pug Louie looks just like the dog in the picture, next to the doggie dream home. That is partly what inspired to enter- twice a day!!
Tomorrow is the day I volunteer at the Extreme Home Makeover.I am really excited! The build site is actually very close to where I live and it is amazing to watch how fast they can build a house. We were able to watch a previous home being built so it is going to be fun to be involved in the process this time. At least it will keep my mind off the time dragging by until the drawing and reveal. It will be a Dream Home for this family so I plan to be there for the "move that bus" day when the family comes home. It will be awesome to see their reaction, much like when one of us wins the DH!
Good luck and have fun on the EHM set ! The reveal will also be wonderful.
Just right for our 2 Mini dabble Doxies!
Yes I have to say my cat Bella will love that little house she is so sweet and such a good cat
Have to tell you about a very moving experience I had today. I was asked to volunteer at a Nursing Home to help the residents take a field trip to the Klondike Gold Rush Museum National Historical Park in Pioneer Square. The staff at the nursing home was truly amazing. We had eight people in our van and I think the same amount in the second van. Most residents were in wheelchairs and some were in portable beds. Two residents could walk but needed watching as they were suffering from Alzheimer's Disease. I didn't know if I could do it but I gave it my all. We started talking about Soney and even though some couldn't talk you could see the laughter in their body. We giggled and the staff sang and giggled too. The tour was fantastic and you could tell they all loved it. Even asking questions afterward. They do this once a month and they asked if I would join them again and I said yes. Sure made me think twice about how lucky Soney and I really are.
Good for you Alice! ^_^
Thank you EdinOregon. The friend that encouraged me to volunteer told me that she started playing her banjo and singing to the residents awhile back. Before the field trips started many residents had never left the home in years. When she told me that I couldn't help but cry and I looked at her and she was crying too. You are very kind EdinOregon. Your family and friends are so lucky to have you. p.s. I won't tell anybody about you being very kind don't want to tarnish your Ed Bunyan and Babe image!
I would love to see you part of that Ali, and know how much joy you brought to everyone with the essence of you and your soney stories. That folks were brought into the van's is a testimony to the wonderful staff this home staff. You and they, are warriors for healing, and how amazing that you brought the whole group to a crescendo of giggledom. This is the essence of the true gift of healing. Animals have this gift, and you bring it out in all of us and everyone you touch.
Your spirit of joy is easily transmitted on the blog; I am sure the people–staff and residents–loved your company today. I know we all look forward to reading your posts ! Much love to you & soney.
Thank you so much LLColeman you are truly a joy here too. Soney and I enjoy all that you have to say. I read the latest on the blog for his bedtime story. Another story he likes me to read is the Lion King. Thank you for your kind words. Love to you too!
I always hear that joy in you LLColeman as you compliment others, and the true nature of these compliments comes from your own wellspring of giving. Always always thanks to you.
You are a joy on and off the blog. Have you take Soney to meet them?
Hi boomer thank you so much we love to read everything you post too! I was thinking the same thing because as soon as I mentioned I have a dog they started asking me all kinds of questions about him. Their eyes lit up and as we were driving on a very busy street stop and go a man was walking his dog and it looked just like Soney. I blurted out my Soney looks just like that. Soney had some training as a Service Dog before he got so sick. He got well by changing his diet but just recently his hair started falling out and he began chewing himself. The canned seasoning I have been giving him changed their formula and added sorghum. That taught me a lesson. Read the ingredients even if it is the same dog food you always buy. His hair is growing back and if the Vet Dr gives the go ahead he will continue with his training. Thanks again boomer, take care and will talk to you soon.
Wow, didn't know Soney was a service dog, Alice. My deceased brother-in-law was in the process of having two giant schnausers trained as service dogs. Wanted to give one to my mom but my husband didn't think it was a good idea. So my brothers and I bought her a miniature schnauser instead and she loves him. It's safe to say that they're inseparable.
Hi Lessie Soney started his training about a year ago and then he got sick. We are waiting to make sure he is o.k. before we start up again. He tells me when the telephone rings and he is especially proud when I ask him to find my reading glasses. He weighs 90 lbs now but he is tall and slender. The shelter thought he was a mix but they found him in a field with five brothers and sisters so they didn't know for sure. His trainer said no he is all black lab. Dogs are so special thanks Lessie for sharing this with us.
Thank you, alicesoneysmom, for starting off my morning on such a wonderfully positive note. You've given us all something very special with your joyful and caring spirit. How lucky those residents were to have you share the day with them.
Thank you DBCoop it is always special to talk to you. Those beautiful people sure taught me alot. They so appreciated just the little things we talked about. Like you always say it is time to stop and smell the roses! What a wakeup call for me. This blog with all the wonderful and positive bloggers was a lifesaver for me and Soney, and yesterday just made me appreciate even more how lucky we are. It is the little things that count. Soney gives a high five to your little one.
<3 Right back at ya, Soney!
I know what you mean. It is a wonderful experience to help fulfill someone in a nursing home's life. Or even an elder shut-in person who lives at home. They make your heart sing.
What an awesome adventure Alice! You consistently bring joy to all those you encounter. Thanks for being on this blog and I'm sure the residents of the nursing home thank you!
You know, I really need this home. We could retire. I have moved around so many times. It's not that I just want a home, it's that Stowe is so wonderful. Yet, we could not move there without a win. I have moved over 30 times in my life. My father moved us constantly. Then my husband who is in the space/airplane industry has had to move. I am tired. I am tired of moving. I wouldn't settle even on a dream home unless it was in a place we both want to be. The dream home is so beautiful and Stowe is so beautiful. I have never wanted anything more–except for the health and happiness of my children and family. God Bless! Teresa
God bless you too Teresa! And good luck!
While the Economist Intelligence Unit report for 2011 didn't include Stowe in its list of the top ten cities worldwide for liveability, I'm sure they haven't skied the slopes of Mt. Mansfield or taken a tour of the HGTV Dream Home.
Their rankings, in order for the top ten, were: Vancouver, Canada; Melbourne, Australia; Vienna, Austria; Toronto, Canada; Calgary, Canada; Helsinki, Finland; Sydney, Australia; Adelaide, Australia, and Auckland, New Zealand.
I don't know where Denver (and the Stapleton Green Home community) came in, but Pittsburgh was the highest ranking U.S. city at 29, just ahead of Honolulu. Los Angeles came in at 44, New York City, slightly bruised, at 56. Internationally, London ranked 53, while Paris, the City of Light, came in at number 16.
The ratings of relative comfort are based on five broad categories: infrastructive, education, safety, culture and environment and health.
For me, however, factor in the weather, and Honolulu easily takes the number one spot. Especially if you're considering the ideal location for the next Dream Home.
It's interesting looking at which organizations create the standards. Some other organizations like Audubon Society which has a very strong presence in Stowe,Co op America, which sounds like Coop, Center for Eco Literacy, Center for Biological Diversity which supports and protects animals that are near extinction, Clean air conservancy, and others on a green list are worth looking at.
I hear Hawaii is really expensive to live in though!! o.0
How many feet is it from the hot tub area to the road? A privacy screen for sure. How close is the next home? I'm sorry if these were asked, but maybe your still answering these mundane questions. I guess it's an acre or.?
Deerspring, I thought COOP was the dream shaman, LOL !
I know just how this feels, and I'll put in a root root root for Washington DC- a hop skip and a jump to your beautiful Virginia. Arlington and Alexandria are both across the river.
We spent Christmas there with my daughter (DC, visiting Alexandria, Arlington, et al) and all I can say is I was in HEAVEN! Of course seeing my baby girl was the absolute best, but getting to see all the sights, well, it was a FABULOUS Christmas for this girl:D
I really love the doggy dream home. Such a great touch for people, like me, that have a doggy. This is truly a Dream Home that has had a lot of thought put into it.
The doggie dream house is just perfect for us – we have 2 dogs!! And 3 cats…. and birds…. oh my! And did you see? In the video, Super Fan was looking right at ME when she said "when you win the dream home" LOL
How cool is that?
still dreaming! as for the doggy dream home, it will probably end up as a kitty dream home for my daughter's cat (who thinks she is princess of the house!) since our dog is a bullmastiff and even at only 10 weeks old, he has already outgrown it!
Funny! I can picture your bull mastiff walking around with the doggie dream home stuck on his head. It would make a good americas funnies videos show! ^_^
Of course good luck to all as we all know we're the winner! BUT, it's my plan to be the ultimate winner as my business currently is property management. This would become my new B&B lodge and all of my friends and clients could still be connected and I could return to my beloved east coast states! This is the best dream home design yet!
Although Maggie the Wonder Dog, has been watching her girlish figure, she will never fit into this adorable doggie dream house. A better use, might be to put her food, and water dishes, and a few of her favorite toys in the house. We'll find a use for the doggie house, if we are fortunate to win it!
Then again, winning this home just might justify adding another canine to the family, one dainty enough to fit.
Well that's food for thought, let me think, Yorkie, Maltese, Pug, too hard to choose. Maybe we should just put a large addition on to the existing doggie house, redesign it so that the two existing rooms become the garage portion of a bigger dog house. Might need to get the crew back to Stowe for this re-design! Jack, are you listening? Linda, Maggie's favorite color is red, and she is partial to plush carpets.
If Jack is keeping track, these Hawaiian luxury residences could arrive on the scene just in time to be Dream Home 2012.
Kukui'ula, a new community on the southern coastline of Kaua'i in the Koloa-Poipu area and the first major luxury community to debut in Hawai'i in over a decade, has broken ground for the new Kukui'ula Club Cottages. These approximately 2,200 square foot residences are especially designed for indoor/outdoor island living. A covered entry with dark wood decking opens into a gracious great room complete with living room, dining area and gourmet kitchen. Expansive glass doors disappear into the walls blending the indoor living space with a large covered rear lanai. Lush tropical landscaping, lava rock walls, and large private yard is ideal for indoor/outdoor island living with every contemporary comfort.
The Kukui'ula Club Cottages are being built to meet Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) specifications. The first four residences are anticipated to be completed by the end of the year.
Okay, HGTV and Jack T, this is the chance to get in on the ground (and Kaua'i oceanfront) floor!
I wonder how Jack's plans are going, for a Hawaiian Home Giveaway Year.
How about 1 on each island?
That's an amazing thought, Cami. I was just thinking that same thing yesterday when contemplating future Dream Home locations — as you say, there could be one on EACH of the main islands, Oahu, Maui, Kaui, and Hawaii. Imagine, four years of tropical Dream Homes. Four chances to win a tropical home and the lifestyle that goes with it.
Pack your Hawaiian print shirts, walking shorts and sandals, Jack T, and grab the sunscreen. You've got work to do, in paradise!
I still like the idea of Dream Vacation Home. An added dwelling to our blogger mix of potential residences;)
As I've mentioned before myself, I wouldn't mind a modern modular home. The technology and appeal has improved tremendously in the last decade, and there are now a wide range of very attractive options available. So, I say "Make Mine Modular" HGTV! What's one more home giveaway for MARY to keep track of???
That would be a good pitch for that show, “Modern Marvels”! Help build the new 007 house! Hey, its only money, right LOL?!?!
Of course, having another home giveaway makes it even sweeter because it's Scripps Networks' money, not ours! Somehow it's always easier to make suggestions on how to spend OPM…Other People's Money. Not to worry though, since Scripps Networks has to find SOMEWHERE to spend all that extra money that's been filling their company coffers lately.
Haha! We armchair quarterbacks have the best game plans, don't we?!
Thanks for telling us about the Kukui'ula Club Cottages, Coop. Will definitely check them out.
Thanks Coop, for keeping Hawaii in the forefront of hgtv's mind. Wow 2,200 sq. ft. and ocean
front. What more could one ask for? Oh, how many bedrooms and baths were there? If we
have to wait, dreaming about the differences berween Hawaii and Vermont is a fun way of
making the time go by with a sm[le on our faces!!:D
I need to check these out, Coop. But I think that IF (and it's a big IF) Hawaii is going to be the site for a Dream-Green- Oasis home, then it's just about got to be on Oahu because Honolulu has about the only (somewhat) reasonable selection of jobs. It's expensive living in Hawaii – and wages are not really up to mainland levels. Of course, if income isn't a concern – Hawaii is as beautiful as it gets. And HGTV – please be sure that the property is fee simple, too.
Where are these – The site talks about Hanalei and Poipu and they are both pretty far apart.
The closer town is Poipu, and even closer is the small community of Koloa, which are at the southern tip of the island of Kaua'i.
Go to the Kukui'ula website to see for yourself — it is a premier piece of real estate in a true tropical paradise. http://www.kukuiula.com/
Now if we could just get Jack T to agree, maybe a Hawaiian Dream Home could become a reality.
Of course, price-wise, we're talking about prime oceanfront property in Hawaii, so if you have to ask, you probably can't afford it! However, with Scripps Networks' recent quarterly financial report, I think they can manage to up the ante a little and go for the gold in Hawaii, or the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, as it were.
I mean, really, what's a few mil between dreamers. And think of the overwhelming interest and positive press coverage HGTV would get out of a Dream Home in paradise?! Can you say, "even bigger stock dividends," Scripps Networks? I wouldn't mind a bit, as long as I can come along for the Dream Home ride too….
Hey Mary, you out there? Have you abandoned us? I know the Green Home is about to roll out soon, but just checking to see what's up. I realize you're excited about the Dream Home Grand Prize Drawing and decorating, etc, but can you PLEASE include us? We wanna be excited too!
How many total entries? How many virtual and physical bins? Are you using the winter balloon colors we selected? Who's going to be there? Will DBCoop be by Jim Samples' side as he selects the winner? Will Super Fan Gail be there? So much excitement in the air!!!!
This is almost like going to the movies and everyone around me is eating and I'm not. I wanna watch and eat too. So can you please give bloggers something to snack on and tell us what's going on so we can enjoy the excitement?! If you can't tell us more at this time, we'll settle for a new double or triple vlog. We're easy to please.
Lessie, I'd be satisfied wiyh one vlog especially if it's about closers!!!
What are we closing, SandyLA?
Personally, I'd like to see more than closets and storage space now. I think I'm ready for the winner's weekend tour so I can see EVERYTHING as much as I want and as often as I want.
Hi cutie pie remember when we had so much fun about all you forks instead of folks. Closers you are now closing something. You are so much fun. Would not make fun of you for the world. Love you to pieces. You are what makes this blog so great!!
Alice, you are so precious! No wonder everyone wants to meet at Alice's Restaurant. You're the best!!!
I read Cynthia Stafford's story about winning $112 million on the lottery. HGTV is better than the lottery. If she can picture herself winning the lottery and what she'd be wearing, we should be able to virtually picture the Dream Home Team ambusing us and what we'll be wearing and doing when ambushed. Anyone want to tell us what they'll be doing and what they'll be wearing?
My work clothes, they will ask me to change!!
They won't ask you to change, DreaminginDE! You're perfectly acceptable as is.
I have a brand new cranberry red jacket that I'm saving for the occasion. The collar is a black, white and gray print. (It will look awesome hanging in the closet off the master!) I haven't decided what color turtleneck to wear under it, but plan to wear black slacks. I need earrings. Can't forget the earrings.
Since I'm not sure from which direction they'll be coming, I'll be running back and forth between the windows and the peephole. LOL
OMG! You mean I have to actually get dressed (if I am not working) instead of lounging around in my pajamas all day. Hmmmm I must think about this, lol.
Too funny, Funfordot!
aww i just got a puppy whose about 4 and a half months because i really wanted a small little lap dog. Unfortunatlely, she is already to big for this cute little doggie house
but i love her anyway!
how many people mailed in entries??
I did
I mailed in 2, Gymnasticsluvrr.
Mailed 3 approximately a week apart. Entered twice daily!! Fingers crossed
I mailed in two entries for myself and my husband everday in January, and then I mailed in double that in Feb..that last few days of the contest (the last week) I mailed in 40, I think.. My hand was so cramped up..lol
Unfortunately, like many of you I would have to take the cash option but I would love to be on one of my fav. shows house hunters so I can find my dream home,my 10 year old would get a kick out of that since he is the reason I starting entering in the first place.Lol!
I mailed in entries. I sent them my lucky number, the day I was born so thank God I wasn't born on the 31st! And Lessie if I am the lucky one they will catch me in my work clothes. They may ask me to change since I drive a forklift for a living. It's the greatest job ever, the truck does all the lifting and a girl has to do what makes her happy.
Sounds like you have the perfect job, DreaminginDE! By the time the Dream Home ambush team arrives, you will have changed clothes and gotten into something much more comfortable. No teddies please.
I'll put my teddies away!! Good Luck Lessie
The same to you, DreaminginDE! If you win, it'll be fun getting to learn more about you.
We aim to please, MaryPA! Might as well have fun while waiting to see if a blogger wins the Dream Home!
Here is a little tidbit of information if you are interested in John Nordstrom. There was an exhibit at the museum on him. The family still lives in Seattle. BTW the Klondike Gold Rush Museum admission is free and is run by National Park Rangers. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGcyv2K8pks
Loved the quote, "Every opportunity has a root in a relationship." Great video, Alice.
Talking about possible Dream Home locations in Virginia, I wonder if Jack has ever considered any of the following towns or cities there, like: Bland? Which is not all that far from Fries, or the town of Check, for that matter. How about Cuckoo? Or Hurt? Pound, or Raven? Even Horse Pasture? Or possibly the smartest choice of all, Wise?
Owl be surprised if they were to choose the town of Wise.
Quoth the Raven, "that's for sure!" I mean, Wise? That would be just "Cuckoo, Cuckoo."
I wonder if the snow is clean enough in Vermont to make Maple Syrup snow cones like my mom made us as kids. Who am I kidding, God knows what was in the snow from our back yard. I can be sure that the top layer was freshly fallen, but beyond that….
the snow is really clean
They have so much fun in Stowe. This was last year in March. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nlA8yjdrHdA&fe…
Liked that video also, Alice. Keep'em coming!
Alicesoneysmom, please let me know if this reflects the intent of your conversation with me. Far be it from me to spread untruths.
I think you said after DCoopernova witnessed Soney’s love for you and heard of Babe’s dedication to Ed, he wanted to experience such affection and commitment from a four-legged companion. We all know DCoopernova’s effect on females. It does not surprise any of us that a cute little female terrier instantly fell in love with Coop and refused to leave his side. When her brother tried to get close to Coop, she nipped his ears to let him know that Coop was hers.
DCoopernova could not resist Terri the terrier’s licks, looks, or longing to be near him. He finally gave in and took her home. Terri loved Coop and Coop loved Terri. The two of them were inseparable after one month.
cont'd
Lessie this is so cute. And here is a song they are singing to Terriernova as we speak. People can be so cruel and such gossips they are! Terriernova is quite the gal! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JGpR6R3a1D4
Alice, I think the Naughty Lady of Shady Lane would fit in perfectly at Alice's Restaurant. Gotta see what role she's have now that she's more than 9 days old.
She has to be one classy lady to capture DCoopernova's heart. Just sayin!
Alice, why do you think Coop hangs out here? We're classy ladies on the HGTV blog!
You better believe it Lessie!
Just saying!
Part 2 – Alice
Those with a bent to the dark side do not hesitate to use technology to their advantage. I believe you said the grandson of D.B. Cooper, the airline hi-jacker, attempted to borrow DCoopernova’s identity as well as a few of his possessions. He managed to gain access to DCoopernova’s property undetected and just as he entered the door, who do you think was there to greet him? Terri. She chased Cooper Jr, hemmed him inside the first floor powder room, and would not quit barking until DCoopernova arrived. Of course, Coop wasn’t the only one to arrive. So did his security guards. They quickly subdued Cooper Jr and took him to the security suite to be questioned.
When DCoopernova arrived, Terri stopped barking and sat beside his feet. Coop reached down, picked her up, and said, “From now on, you’re no longer Terri but Terriernova. Since I am the light of your life, you are now the light of my life. We are both novas.”
Thumbs down is lurking in the shadows of evil. With that said you understood me perfectly. The mystery of D.B. Cooper is unraveling right before our eyes. There is never a perfect crime. Thank heavens for the security guards. Terriernova is singing this song to DCoopernova, they were meant for each other. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bF8R521ah2k&fe…
When Terriernova finishes the last note, DCoopernova immediately begins this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5YOQCrEHhz4
Inseparable, Incredible. Thank you Lessie how beautiful.
That's because Coop is a classy guy, Alice. Can't deny that HGTV bloggers are classy!!!!
I love this legend Lessie, it's proof positive that a dog is man's best friend.
A dog will wait devotedly in the wings, until their dapper master, with the CooperNova smile, and the Orson Wells voice, and the croonworthy style strolls in slo mo into Alice's place for a little respite.
You're so right, Janzee. CooperNova and TerrierNova are a lifetime pair. Can't wait to hear about their adventures.
I am a softy, I read your sentence "Since I am the light of your life, you are now the light of my life. We are both novas", and just melted. The sparking that happens when a star is born is "a beautiful thing", as Steve Martin would say. That is the crux of the story, all superheroes have a wonderful animal at their side, like CooperNova's partner in making things right. I know Alice is happy now, CooperNova is a regular, buys up all of her apple pies, and she is now seeing a stream of new faces, some have parrots that read Shakespeare, there are mighty steeds, others keep ferrots that are found eating eggs in the frig, while others have chiwawas that sing chihaha "I love you".
continued… and inherant in the laughter track is a subliminal message for building up the little town of Stowe. SuperNova started the Coop Co op where you can get your doggie pic framed and can wear your pendant. He loves those endearing action shots. RJMstone, leaving no stone unturned, is building blog cabins. and has become a resident famous Stowe writer. Alice is engaged in counting pies not sheep, and has a stack of the worlds most tastey pies, cut into one you get em all. Janzee, thinking she is playing golf with her ski poles, started the first snow put put. Cami is choclatizing, and prioritizing all educational things like pencils, notebooks, and erasers that can be dipped in chocolate, and she is including doggie edible treats. EdinOregon, mountain man and world class adventurer has suggested putting chocolate on wheaties, and is doing Yule Gibbons type commercials. Lessie has acquired an international tour following, and will be making her announcement for the Stowe engagement on March 12th. All in attendance will be the HGTV bloggers. DebraG started the Jewels of Stowe and will give each blog member that attends, a "I feel lucky, oh so lucky", paper crown. A surprise visitor, a one Mr. Samples, has been included on the blog roster, and is making an important announcement. Gee I hope I didn't embarrass anyone. (Voice Over) "would you bring up those lights please" on the front rows? We wanna get a close up of ALL the bloggers on the site. " There is a lot of fun and pride going on, on this HGTV blog".
Love the picture you've painted Janzee. You capture the essence of bloggers and present it well.
Hi love, these cartoon sketches are so much fun to do, but the real larger than life, every one of you on this blog, would be oh so much fun to see on a big, wide tv screen, with a smile from here all the way across the U.S. And why the smile, cause somebody has a brand new pair of keys, the Acadia Dinalli, and one fantastic dream come true.
Janzee, you're not a softy. You love words and the depths and heights they express. I can picture you riding through the universe on a magical elixir of words—immensely enjoying the journey.
Such a beautiful femine compliment Lessie. Like Maya, you should be writing poetry and and offering your profound perceptions of life.
Janzee, you know you aren't an ordinary person. I write what I see about you. You're always painting new pictures. Still thinking about the Great Redwoods–too much for me to envision. The stories you can tell….bet you're mesmerizing.
I feel the same way about you, my friend. We would be a good writing team I think, and some time will share the inspiration you gave me for a film just in it's infancy. I know that the story started to evolve because of your directness, questioning everything at face value, and your pure honesty.
To date, I've never had so many compliments in my life, and feel like a plant here, that is being watered and offered sunshine. In Judaism they call it a mitzvah, when you reach someone on a spiritual level. I see you do this over and over for all of us, and just pray that I can return the love to you and all here.
You haven't received the compliments because you were not home—on the HGTV blog. Come here to get the inspiration needed to fight the battles of the day. The world takes from you, but we'll build you up. HGTV is your friendly Mitvah store. Come as often as necessary and take as much as needed..for FREE. That's the best Mitvah of all.

team? Did they announce who the host would be?
The program listing for March 19th says John Gidding will be showing the home and Monica will visit the winner with the good news.
Thanks Dreamn_again! Glad you know what's going on.
Caught red-handed, eagle-eye SandyLA! Gee, I gotta put that word in the dictionary as soon as I develop a definition for it. Good thing you know what I meant.
Can't remember who's on the team. Will check to see if they have announced it.
South Carolina please Lessie, I wanna play the game too!
Good Luck to everyone that submitted entries! This is truly a great home!

Anytime after the winner is selected on March 2nd, Joplays.
thank you – did anyone win the gifts we all voted on
I don't think the winner has been announced yet .Joplays.
hey, joplays– we have been missing you ! Still on your killer work schedule ?
It was good to hear from you LLColeman. Becouse the sweepstakes was over i would love to be the big winner like ervery one hopes to be the one, But becouse the sweepstakes is closed i had no idea that we were able to blogg any more. Its cool that we can still blogg on here and it was good reading all the bloggers coments. I have made some really cool friends that i hope not to forget. Were will next years dream home be ? does any one know, or have any ideas. If i was the winner. I would get myself a chiwwa, I have no idea how to spell the word, But they are good dogs. Good luck , and GOD BLESS AMERICA,and the HGTV dream team for making some ones dream truely come true. I also love the home
It's spelled C-h-i-h-u-a-h-u-a….Chihuahua! I have two of them-MiMI & Lily. Their pictures are all ready hung inside the Doggie Dream House. : )
I was so thrilled to see the "Doggy Dream Home". We have two adorable teacup chihuahua's, Nacho and Rosie, who resemble the two stars of the movie, Beverly Hills Chihuahua. We have had them for three years, before the movie was released. They would love the doggie dream home, not to mention my grandkids who have already picked out their beds and lavatories in the ski dermatory.
Make that ski dormatory. HGTV has done a wonderful job with this years Dream Home Sweepstakes. It will be a dream come true for some lucky one. Glad we had the opportunity to participate. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!!!
I've been entering the Dream Home Contest since the very beginnng, I had my first computer back then and I was in college. I've been dreaming all these years of winning, wonder if it will ever happen. My dog is now nine years old so if I win I will get a puppy to keep her company. This would be the perfect year for me to win since I lost everything last year, my home, furniture and life I used to know. Just once in my life I'd like to say I'm a winner. This home is beautiful and I'd love to live in it, or I'll keep my hopes up and keep on entering for this the blog cabin and every home they give away as usual. Good luck to everyone, hope the winner is someone that really needs it.
Good luck to you breasoner! and to all the rest of us. I am sorry you lost everything last year. Will be praying for you.
Thank you so much, I appreciate it more then you know. I've gotten a lot of bad news about my health latelybut I know itwill get better. I have rheumatoid arthritis and a debilitating spine disease but I'm not going to let it get me down. Every day is a gift and I'm going to find a way to enjoy it. Good luck to you too, maybe one of us will win. From: notifications@intensedebatemail.comTo: bjr527@hotmail.comSubject: funfordot replied to your comment on A Closer Look at the Doggie Dream Home
Yeah….but then you have Capital Gains to worry about..and you owe the property taxes on it from the day you "get" it to the day you sell it, and the property taxes are STEEP!
Here's a guessing poll. Which region of the United States do you think the winner will originate from? Northeast, Southeast, Midwest, Southwest, and or the West. Good luck winning the jackpot and guessing the right region.
Midwest
Northwest! Yeah for the westies!!
Northern California!!!
Midwest!
West of course.:D
Not sure if this is the right place to be asking this or not. Love the landscaping on the HGTV Dream Home 2011, and have a new house on a bare lot. Have been thinking about borrowing some ideas, has there ever been a landscaping article written on it? Any plant lists?
Hello bloggers! I know last year there was alot of chatter about different ones sprucing up their homes and making themselves presentable for the big ambush. So I was just curious if any in the blogger community have started yet. Or are you waiting patiently until after March 2nd. —spring cleaning anyone!!!:)
My living room is always clean, it is the only room that is not used? The front door opens
into the living room so I think I am covered there. If they come early I'll close the door and
run to my closet. But they usually come later in the day so I should be OK. My balloons will
start flying on the fourth and that is the day I will start waking early to get dressed first
instead of breakfast first. After awhile I will assume I didn't win and I will stop waiting.
Form what I have experienced in the past, I actually didn't give up completely until the show
airs! Good Luck to us all, and may the weather be nice!
They will have to take me as I am. The house is always clean, but I always have a project going. I am painting the hallway now, so you will see my work in progress if I'm the lucky one. Good Luck
Well, they don't even draw the name until March 2nd, and so there's no reason to get gussied up before then.. And then every news story I've read from the winners gave a date at right around 7 days before the giveaway show air date as when they were ambushed. They also said that HGTV called them and told them that they were a potential finalist and asked them what days would be convenient for them (when would they be home) if they were to be ambushed.. They don't catch you with your pants down, so to speak.. But keep in mind, if they do call you, you may not be the only person they're calling, since they have to pull extra names "out of the hat" just in case someone's entry can't be used.
A Poem for All :
Dreams
Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.
Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.
Langston Hughes
Still dreamin'…looking forward to the knock on the door!
I think the ambush is going to be this weekend?? I you mailed in an entry it had to be postmarked 2/18/11 and there by 2/25/11. That's tomorrow, so this weekend may be it!!!
I'd give them a day or two extra to make sure everything is counted and in its place, that the location is made ready for filming with the big sign saying how many entries total, balloons, etc. According to the rules they're scheduled to do the drawing March 2nd. They normally post a blog saying its happened with a photo of the location. A good day for the ambush would be the following Monday or Tuesday so the camera people and Monica can make all their travel arrangements to the winner's location for the event and film some evening shots to match up with the 8pm (eastern) air time scheduled for the 19th.
They better do places of employment, that's where I'll be.Hehe!! D;
Reporting in after my day at the Extreme Home Makeover site. I had so much fun and worked my rear off.Our shift started with doing some filming ,we did 3 takes with Ty skateboarding out of the house then 2 takes with he and the crew running from the house saying it was time to move in the furniture. I may actually be on tv! The rest of our shift was spent moving in furniture and all the new stuff for the kitchen and the rest of the house, moving scaffolding and sheets of plywood and just helping where we were needed. The house is nice but not as nice as the DH. They just had the reveal with the family and of course they were excited. This episode will air in May so I will be anxiously waiting to see the family going through the home, and to see if I am on tv!
Dear sandra– I hope you keep on blogging and can let us know when the show will air in May ! You were a busy bee on the set that day.
Awwww!! That doggie house is too cute! I didn't see this blog when I last came on on the 18th. My dogs are a bit too big so I'll just have to add a couple lap dogs to our family if we win. My labradoodle and mini poodle, Charlie and Marko named after Marko the Magician and Good Time Charlie at Smugglers Notch down the road from this gorgeous home, won't be jealous because they will be sooooooo happy hiking with us and enjoying the town of Stowe. Gracies is an adorable restaurant in Stowe all about dogs too! Be sure to eat at Gracies if you win this home or visit Stowe. We certainly will!
Dying over the kitchen! I want to cook Thanksgiving for our entire family and all our friends in this home!!!!
ahhhh..getting nervous…I promise to be home on the 27th!
