  1. I thought IntenseDebate was down when I went to Doggie Dream Home blog to check in. But no, it was locked for a minute because …Mary is back with another video from Gail!!

    • You're first! What you'll learn is that some people are replying directly to you, as I am, and others reply on your post because they don't quite get that they should comment at the bottom of the page. Be prepared for many emails which may not quite make sense!

      Wyo_Girl on March 1, 2011 at 4:45 pm
  2. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Mary. I take back all I've written.

Lessie on March 1, 2011 at 3:24 pm
    • Do you see that all of the colors mentioned are there? It is so empowering to say something
and have someone not only listen to you but put your comment back on the computer to see.
Thank you guys so much. My colors will stand alone and I see they would have been too blah
without the bright colors. I sit here with such a great big smile on my face with happiness.
But getting down to business what state could Mr. Samples not have been in? Lessie, What
      is your idea?

SandyLA on March 3, 2011 at 1:11 pm
  3. ….. That's the coolest TV idea of them all.

Cami on March 1, 2011 at 3:34 pm
    • You and I must have the same thoughts about television. Always up for good music, but that television, unless its. the HGTV food network, or a classic is bla bla bla….

  4. Thank you Mary for sharing with us creative easy home ideas from the mind of Linda Woodrum! ;)

  5. Well, I was wrong……about the time I said there wouldn't be anything new……they post a new thread!
    Thank you Mary!

    • But we were expecting it in the UO not the DH yet!

Nebraska on March 1, 2011 at 9:02 pm
      • I don't know about expecting it on the UO. But I was sure hoping Mary finally got around that ultra long corner!

  7. "Mirror, Mirror on the Wall…." I tend to think Gail or Mary looks more like Snow White than the wicked witch! By the way, I'm confused since i'm rather new to this. I gather by reading the blogs that Gail is the young lady in the videos and Mary posts them to the blogs? Help me with this one…anyone….Coop? Linda Woodrum is obviously a Genius (Extremely creative)! A tv does stick out in any room. This is actually a good idea my wife and I could incorporate in our bedroom (makes the most sense out of all the rooms). Mirror, Mirror on the wall….Who will be the luckiest of them all? Coop any more predictions, you seem to be pretty good at this!!o.0

Lucyourdog on March 1, 2011 at 4:06 pm
    • Glad you're on the blogs, Lucyourdog. You have it right — Gail is in the videos. She's called the Superfan, and I love her energy, don't you? Mary posts the blogs on this site and others, such as the Green Home blog. Some people call her "Mean Mary" because she teases us with clues about next year's Dream Home and she makes us wait for new blog topics. I don't think she's mean, though, in case she has ANY input in the drawing tomorrow — lol!

      Wyo_Girl on March 1, 2011 at 4:41 pm
    • You're right, Lucyourdog. Gail is our Super Fan. She's the person in the vlogs. Mary is a contributor to HGTV and posts new blogs. She is the the HGTV contact person. Super Fan Gail represents bloggers. She talks with HGTV staff to find answers to our questions.

Lessie on March 1, 2011 at 4:47 pm
    • Gail is indeed our Super Fan, our "Go To" person, the young lady with the answers, the HGTV star with the inside scoop …while MARY is our editorial manager, the person who keeps us in suspense, then rewards us with wonderful videos, who leads us on wild Dream Home location clue chases, who tests our staying power when the blogging gets lonely, and who shares the good news (and the bad) about who has won the Dream Home, the Green Home, the Urban Oasis, and yes even the DIY Blog Cabin. Ergo, you want to be nice to MARY, for otherwise…well, otherwise, editorial managers can flex their power and alter the very course of future discourse. Or something to that effect!

DBCoop on March 1, 2011 at 6:30 pm
    • By the way, I'm fresh out of predictions at the moment. I have to recharge my batteries. However, stay tuned. I'm sure MARY isn't done with us yet!

DBCoop on March 1, 2011 at 6:42 pm
    • Thanks a bunch for clearing that up for my wife and I. It doesn't take much to confuse me, lol!

Lucyourdog on March 1, 2011 at 6:46 pm
  8. I think it'd be cool to use a large picture or work of art too, if you're not feeling the mirror idea. I have also seen a contraption where you can choose a print, or perhaps design your own, and attach it to this device that will roll it up by remote control. So, the frame remains, but the print itself rolls up into the frame, exposing the tv that is hidden behind… or even a safe (that'd be so 007!).

    epiphany101 on March 1, 2011 at 4:26 pm
    • Hiding a safe behind a mirror, Epiphany? Hadn't thought about that one. Your print or personal design idea seems interesting. Have you tried it?

Lessie on March 1, 2011 at 4:51 pm
      • I haven't tried it but I did research it a bit. I know there are companies that will customize it for you, but I don't know how to do it myself since I don't think they sell the remote control roller thingee (that's the technical term, I'm sure) seperately. I'll probably eventually go with DH's idea, it's more DIY friendly, but with a painting or picture. The mirror is a great idea too, I just always use the mirror in my bathroom so I'd enjoy looking at art instead in my room. And though a safe would be spiffy, I'll most likely be hiding a TV in the future.

        epiphany101 on March 1, 2011 at 6:53 pm
  9. Mary, sure hope you you post a vlog of tomorrow's drawing. Will there be balloons (colors selected by SandyLA) and a big celebration afterwards?

Lessie on March 1, 2011 at 4:56 pm
    • Hi love, this blog is always up for a huge party and balloon celebration. You've led the story telling, keeping everyone up to date, and making the charge lots of fun. Love to you and Good Luck every day and every way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  10. I think is a great Idea Gail, and you can do this in any part of your house, a mirror fits in any room and it makes it look cool.

That would be Gail and Mary for bringing us this vlog.

  14. Hope we get a report on the drawing process tomorrow like we did last year. That makes it that much more exciting and official lol.

funfordot on March 1, 2011 at 6:33 pm
  15. Yes a great idea, but I think we are all at a point where we are asking….Mirror Mirror on the wall who is the winner after all? I'm so excited, the waiting is the hardest part but it will be worth it for one of us if, if,if.

DreaminginDE on March 1, 2011 at 7:13 pm
    • DreaminginDE, I'm not interested in the mirror on the wall right now. I'm thinking how I can click my heels together and say there's no place like a vacation Dream Home three times and WIN! If only it were that simple, I'd be clicking my heels right now. Oh well, guess the selection is happening right now. Too bad I'm not there.

  18. But the TV is too little!

Nebraska on March 1, 2011 at 9:05 pm
    • I don't recall their telling the size of the tv, but it does look small. The one in the ski dorm and the guest bedroom is larger. That doesn't seem quite right does it.

funfordot on March 1, 2011 at 9:17 pm
    • Nebraska, you are too funny. You are so practical. Would really love to know how you truly feel about the amenities in the Dream Home. Are they too much for you?

Lessie on March 2, 2011 at 10:43 am
      • Whatever I feel I tend to say it straight out- no hypocrisy from me. If I don't like something I say it! You don't have to check your back for daggers after I have left. However, if you get a compliment from me you know its well deserved. I guess that comes from learning how to give constructive criticism.

Nebraska on March 2, 2011 at 3:47 pm
        • Nebraska, seems like you've learned the art of constructive criticism well, especially if people love your compliments. "You don't have to check your back for daggers after I have left," says much about you. As long as you're happy, I'm happy!

Lessie on March 2, 2011 at 6:40 pm
    • Lol, well you can always turn the mirror box on it's side and get a widescreen!

      epiphany101 on March 2, 2011 at 1:24 pm
      • That is funny!

Nebraska on March 2, 2011 at 3:41 pm
    • I agree with you Nebraska, it does look small, I love watching tv in bed and it looks to small and to far from the bed. That's a pretty easy fix. (Buy a bigger tv) Still with the view of the mountains from the bed, I don't think I would mind a little tv. I can just hear my mom saying, you shouldn't be watching tv anyways, read a book, write a play and act it out, or go outside!

  23. What a wonderful Idea! I love the Mirror but I really love the TV behind the mirror. The suspense is high, I think II'm turning blue from holding my breath.

BrendaOKC on March 1, 2011 at 10:18 pm
    • BrendaOKC, I must not be the winner cuz I'm not holding my breath or anything. I'm excited because I think of the great party to select the winner as well as the greater party to celebrate the winner on winner's weekend. Do you think I like parties?

Lessie on March 2, 2011 at 10:55 am
  24. B to the E to the……Well Do I need to spell it out! BEAUTIFUL! When I seen this, I thought why didn't I ever think of that. Maybe that's why I'm not a designer lol…

    CreativeOne33 on March 1, 2011 at 10:26 pm
  25. I was thinking that some of that window glass that's reflective depending on which side is darker might make this tv hidden behind the mirror idea work without having to "open the mirror"…. Other than some minor ventilation and sound issues that can be worked out on a case by case basis, the biggest drawback is that the mirror has to be larger than the tv screen which was probably only a 22-26" or so in the dream home example.

    dreamn_again on March 1, 2011 at 10:44 pm
    • It amazes me how a detail person thinks, Dreamn_again. None of that came to mind when I saw the vlog. My only thought, "oh that's a good idea," then off to something else. The only time I consider giving something a second thought is if it belongs to me. Otherwise, I'm enjoying the good life until the winner is announced.

Lessie on March 2, 2011 at 11:00 am
    • I agree about the size- and if you want to watch TV you have to move the lamp and something else. I tend to go to sleep with the TV on. The lamp would never get back to the table if it was my room.

Nebraska on March 2, 2011 at 3:49 pm
      • Nebraska, I heard that televisions in the bedroom aren't good. Even heard that sleeping with a television on is definitely not good for one's health. Do you agree with the person who made those statements?

Lessie on March 2, 2011 at 6:45 pm
  26. Super! Thanks…

    Dreaming_In_CA on March 1, 2011 at 11:20 pm
    • I am dreaming in Cali also my friend and wish you good luck on the California side.

Janzee on March 2, 2011 at 9:07 pm
  27. Love the idea of the mirror hide-away for the flatscreen. This is romantic! I only question though is that all around is a tight space for the TV as its in this "medicine cabinet". The TV does thow off heat as it is in use. Would you be sweating the components inside the TV? There is a reason why there are slotted vents with every Flatscreen. Being tightly enclosed seems risky – I could be wrong. Oh well that's why they call the Blogsite Intense Debate!<3

P.S. GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE WHO PLACED THEIR ENTRIES EVERY DAY! :D

    GoodDaddy2 on March 1, 2011 at 11:38 pm
    • GD2, you probably are a detail person. Again, I never thought about that. To me, I assumed you pull the tv out when watching it pushing it in when you're not. By the time I pushed it in, it would be cool so there wouldn't be a ventilation problem. Does this mean I'm not ready for the luxuries in the Dream Home? Oh well, better start loving the home I have.

Lessie on March 2, 2011 at 11:05 am
      • <DIV>Lessie, you had a great idea as far with the mirror. Have the TV being able to adjust away from the wall can be done. Great thinking!</DIV> <DIV>—

  31. Where are the rest of the posts that should be on page 14 ? they were here earlier!! Wish I could remember what was there. I just took a peek to see if a name had been pulled yet. To morrow will be great. I will wake up excited not knowing when or where I should look at the TV or my computer. OK So I will say GOOD MORNING TO ALL THE BLOGGER/POSTERS who hope to see a winning name pulled sometime today. I hope I'll know some time in the morning so that I won't panic. Anxiety evening is quietly coming and a nice cup of warm tea is good for now. See you later…..Good Luck to everyone and it doesn't matter if you DESERVE it because the winner is the WINNER and we will say congratulations.!!!!

you all are. I've been trying to work p14 on doggie house and here you were all the time. I wish
everyone a great nights sleep, easy morning and then hope sometime tomorrow at least a picture
to see what the bins look like and the total of entries. Boy we can't gett too much more excited than
we already are. This ia far superior to being on a Roller Coaster. This is true fun, excitement, and
truely dreamy. We are hoping in unison that this year the winner will be a blogger one of us in fact.
hope sooo. Love to all and the best of wishes.

  37. I found this little article about Monica Pedersen:

    http://www.chicagomag.com/Chicago-Magazine/March-

She is one of the "50 Most Beautiful Chicagoans" and the person who will be knocking on your door should you win the Dream Home, so keep an eye out for tall, lovely blonde women in your neighborhood (although I guess I don't have to tell you guys to do this)!

CplusE on March 2, 2011 at 7:41 am

CplusE on March 3, 2011 at 7:41 am
    • Oh CplusE……if Monica is headed my way, I think I'll schedule a MAKEOVER! LOL!:D

CeeJoy on March 2, 2011 at 2:32 pm
      • Or the paper bag over the head idea would work for me! LOL!

CplusE on March 3, 2011 at 7:46 am
        • Maybe I'll just hide behind my balloons!

CeeJoy on March 3, 2011 at 9:13 pm
    • Hi C&E is that your beautiful Diamond? What a cute picture. How is she doing? Soney had a bit of a setback when the seasoning he ate changed their formula. Now he eats just dry dog food and of course his treats for being so good. Can just imagine Monica Pedersen knocking on our door. I would probably pass out that would sure look good on tv! Take care and talk to you soon.

      • Faint?!!! You better get to shaking Alice! Maybe something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YSs9GO71GFE&fe

Lessie on March 2, 2011 at 7:06 pm
        • Lessie Soney and I can do a pretty mean twist! In fact this very song was playing on the jukebox a little bit ago at the restaurant in Stowe. But right now we are at our window watching and waiting and all of a sudden we started singing in French. Oh oh we think we see Monica parked in front of our house. Got to go talk to you later. http://il.youtube.com/watch?v=ugO2Br3aCnc&fea

alicesoneysmom on March 2, 2011 at 8:04 pm
      • Hi Alice! This is just a photo I found on the internet, courtesy of a breeding kennel called Shamrock Dalmatians, but I thought it was appropriate for the month. Diamond is doing great right now, but our other Dalmatian, Gia, is starting to develop arthritis in her hind legs. I have her on anti-inflammatory drugs for a week to control the pain, and we'll see how she does after that. I'm glad Soney recovered from his food reaction is back to his usual happy self! I have threatened before to answer my door with a paper bag over my head if HGTV arrives and I am not ready for them, so if the winner has a bag over her head you can assume it is me! LOL! You never know, though, Monica may just be headed in your direction!

CplusE on March 3, 2011 at 7:31 am
    • Maybe Monica will knock on Janzee's door. So she can get her wrap back from Janzee! ^_^

EdinOregon on March 3, 2011 at 1:17 am
      • Hi Ed! If Janzee is the winner maybe she can offer Monica a trade — the turquoise wrap for Monica's winter parka!

CplusE on March 3, 2011 at 7:33 am
    • I don't think I could stand it if I saw that tall, lovely blonde woman in my neighborhood, only to realize that she is walking down someone else's sidewalk instead of mine! I hope I would be generous enough to congratulate that neighbor, but for now I refuse to think about that possibility (so Scarlett O'Hara of me!).

CplusE on March 3, 2011 at 7:40 am
    • If I end up seeing Monica at my doorstep, I'll most likely pass out. My wife would have to do all the talking, but she may pass out as well. Our dogs will have to do the greeting. Hope she don't mind a lot of licking and barking.;)

BrendaOKC on March 2, 2011 at 8:28 am
    • They draw on the 2nd and the ambush is on or around the 12th. That gives them time to check the eligibility and plan the ambush. Get everything ready for the big surprise. So we still have another week plus to go before they come knocking.

funfordot on March 2, 2011 at 9:17 am
      • Thanks funfordot, that is good to know. I want to be sure and hang out around the house that weekend.

BrendaOKC on March 2, 2011 at 12:32 pm
    • I don't know, but I am waiting for the answer cause I don't want to be caught without my hair and makeup done!!! Is the show live on the 19th?? I don't think so, but I'm sure if you see a giant camera crew in your neighborhood, you can assume you won!! Good Luck everybody!!!xD

      maria_w_in_nj on March 2, 2011 at 9:22 am
      • It's not live on the 19th. They will ambush the winner on or around the 12th.

      • I'm with you!! I wouldn't want to be caught with in my PJ's

  40. That is a great idea especially for smaller rooms as well. Mirrors open up a room (making them feel bigger) and the idea of building in a storage space for the TV, DVD's, etc. provides a great opportunitiy to save space otherwise.

  41. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE :)

  42. An intense anticipation itself transforms possibility into reality; our desires being often but precursors of the things which we are capable of performing.

    GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

    I am so excited.

  44. Mirror, mirror on the wall
I am ready for the call.

March second is the drawing date
Please don't make me wait and wait.

The twelfth is the official ambush day
I'll be sure to yell out a big ol' "Yay!"

The Dream Home is a dream come true
One that will make me feel brand new!

    • Love your poem Muchomacho. I'm sure it expresses the sentiment of many HGTV bloggers.

Lessie on March 2, 2011 at 11:34 am
      • Well, thank you for giving us the inside scoop on the drawing day's events (or at least what you could get away with). :)

muchomacho on March 2, 2011 at 10:41 pm
  45. Alice, you'll never believe this! Just left HGTV. Everyone is super excited about the drawing! In fact, the drawing will take place shortly. It's a secure site. The only way I managed to get in was by engaging someone in conversation as they walked through the door. Then I quickly separated from them before they asked why I was there. Even though I looked for Coop, I never saw him. Do you think it's because I don't know what he looks like? Well let's say I looked for the person I thought was Coop and I didn't see him either.

SandyLA, they're flying your balloon choices over each bin! How exciting! Can't wait to buy my balloons tomorrow or Friday. There's so much electricity in the room! Plenty of hair raising going on. HGTV really knows how to throw a party. Plenty of food there too. I'd say it's one of the best brunch selections I've seen in a while. The mimosas are excellent. The shrimp are as big as my hand….Tasty, tasty, tasty! I had to turn away from the table because there was simply too much to eat, but not before filling my handbag full of truffles.

Lessie on March 2, 2011 at 10:26 am
    • Look for Terrie, his dog! Coop never travels without her :-) Seriously-the shrimp? Please send some, ASAP!!!!

      Debra G. on March 2, 2011 at 11:51 am
    • Lol! Send some of those truffles my way!!!

CeeJoy on March 2, 2011 at 1:57 pm
      • They are on the way now, CeeJoy. Hope you enjoy truffles as much as I do!

Lessie on March 2, 2011 at 7:11 pm
    • Hi Lessie called Coop on his cell phone and he said he was there. Did you know Coop has his own private plane and when he got the invite from Jim Samples (I call him Jimmy) he was there in a flash. Coop likes to travel incognito. He has a full entourage of staff and did you know Terri has her own nanny. Don't tell anyone but Coop mentioned that he might drop by the restaurant tonight why don't you drop on by. BTW do you think maybe Coop is a secret agent? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K90joT4RSnA

alicesoneysmom on March 2, 2011 at 6:00 pm
      • You mean I got that close to Coop and didn't know it? Bummer! Guess Debra G's comment about Coop always traveling with Terri is true. Never thought she'd have a nanny though. No wonder Coop knows so many fabulous spots to visit, he has his own plane! Whenever he hears or reads about an interesting place, he can go for a visit.

I think you're right about Coop being a secret agent, Alice. Word is he has a photostatic memory and that he's a magician with numbers. Also heard he schooled Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Tiger Woods, Oprah, and many others on wealth management. Isn't that amazing. He sent me a text message, with the number blocked, saying that if I won the Dream Home, he would pay all taxes for the first five years. Couldn't make out the word after the punctuation. Hope it wasn't NOT.

Won't be able to get to the restaurant before Saturday. Temporarily filling in for someone at work. Do you think Coop will stay for the weekend?

Lessie on March 2, 2011 at 7:48 pm
        • Lessie he said he had to leave but for you he will drop by on Saturday. After all he said Stowe is just a hop skip and a jump from his home in California when you own your own plane. He also whispered in my ear that he has been to Bill Gates mansion on several occasions. And when he told me that Oprah had offered him a contract to have his own tv show I gasped for breath. He said he turned it down because he didn't want to blow his cover. What a man! Terri is sure a luckly little girl. Take care in all this blustery weather. Be safe talk to you soon.

alicesoneysmom on March 2, 2011 at 8:53 pm
          • So glad you told me that Coop can drop by on Saturday Alice. I'll make my reservation for then. I complain about gas prices. Can't imagine what it costs to gas up a plane. Only lets me know that DCoopernova will not have a problem with taxes if he wins the Dream Home.

Can you believe Oprah offered him a contract and he refused?!! He must really value his privacy. If she offered me a contract, all I need to know is where to sign. We can feature the gang at Alice's Restaurant as well as celebrity guests. What do you think about that?

As for Terri being a lucky little girl. She definitely is. But then so are we!!! Only difference is we're big girls.

Lessie on March 3, 2011 at 10:27 pm
          • I was thinking the same thing about the celebrity guests too Lessie how funny! DCoopernova knows John Travolta quite well. They have a lot in common each owning their own private jets. They jet back and forth to each other's homes quite frequently. Gasing up a plane is a small drop in the bucket for him because he has managed his money very wisely. Oprah keeps in touch with him often hoping he will change his mind about the tv show. She owns a home in California so he visits her too! Yes we are quite lucky big girls. See you Saturday!

alicesoneysmom on March 3, 2011 at 11:29 pm
          • We're going to have so much fun, Alice. Soney will have a great time too. Do you think we should begin preparing a list of celebrities we'd like to visit your restaurant? I'm sure we'll get many requests when word gets out. DCoopernova knows so many people. I'm sure other celebrities will join his lead in visiting your restaurant, especially when he's there. Wonder if Keith Olbermann would visit? Think he would be quiet long enough for us to tell him what we think?

Alice, will your regulars be allowed to mingle with all the famous people visiting your restaurant? Just asking because you know some of the bloggers won't know how to act. If you like, I'll force myself to be a greeter. Welcoming people to your restaurant shouldn't be too hard. I also volunteer to engage all celebrites in light conversation, just to ensure they're having a great time.

Can't wait to discuss these ideas. Saturday is not coming soon enough! See you then.

  46. Good morning Everybloggie !

The TV hidden inside the mirrored cabinet is an innovative idea, i love it ! Linda Woodrum is so right about the armoires being heavy and cumbersome, they are hard to move when you're on a " Dust Bunny Hunting Expedition" ( Not a lucky rabbit to have hiding behind your furnishings :O)

Monica Pedersen is always so kind and thoughtful when she's interacting with homeowners on TV. She never says things to hurt their feelings, she'll say: " We can improve this room by doing…such and such ". Which is so much kinder than saying: " This room is ugly and awful!" ( Some TV Design Shows have designers that comment brutally, and my heart goes out to the couples that have decorated their house to the best of their ability, even if it does look horrendous! Monica comes across as a genuinely very good person.
I'm on tenterhooks, waiting for the drawing of the HGTV Sweepstakes !
Now, if I could just refrain from eating my weight in bagels… lol.

  47. HGTV drawing cont'd

MeKhazSimi, looked for you there too but someone told me you were at Alice's Restaurant. I didn't know HGTV and its affiliates knew about Alice's Restaurant. Janzee must have told them. Come to think of it, the guy who told me was huge. Could I have been talking with Ed Bunyun and didn't know it. That's probably why he escorted me to the door. Said I couldn't be there without a golden ticket from HGTV. Do you think he was kidding me? The only golden ticket I know about is the one in the Willie Wonka chocolate bars. Heading to a candy store to get my golden ticket. If I hear or see anything else, I'll let you know.

BTW: Before Ed Bunyun escorted me to the door, I heard Jim Samples or someone I thought was Jim Samples say, this is the year a blogger wins! I almost stumbled. I wanted to turn around and wait for the drawing, but good ol' Ed Buyun wouldn't step aside. He smiled, opened the door, and motioned for me to leave. Just wait till I see him. I'm going to tell him a thing or two unless I win. Then I'll understand why he escorted me out. Dang drawings!!!!

  48. Thanks , Gail that is a wonderful idea not to expensive. I like that camera;). You can do this basically with any size TV, mirrors come in so many sizes. What a way to hide aTV.

  49. I know! lol Mine too. Guess I will go and do something else again lol.

funfordot on March 2, 2011 at 11:01 am
    • Funfordot, I know I'm not the winner. My stomach is fine and my fingers aren't crossed. Guess it's time to make up more stories about the HGTV winner since it's not me.

Lessie on March 2, 2011 at 7:51 pm
      • Just curious, why do you think you aren't the winner? It's possible for all, right? Love your blogs!! So entertaining, thank you!

    • Lucyourdog, looking for people I don't know won't help me at all. I live next to a strip center. I always see people I don't know. Sorry that I missed seeing your town in last week's episode of the Bachelor. But if you live there, I know it's a great place.
