Mirror, Mirror on the Wall
Super Fan shares another decorating tip today – straight from HGTV Dream Home 2011.
While we wait for the winner to be announced, hop on over to the Green: Home blog to watch our first interior and exterior tours of HGTV Green Home 2011. The online virtual tour of our fourth eco-friendly home launches April 1!

Also agree with you Shelby54. I love the HGTV blogs. Blogging is as good as winning, except I'm still broke afterwards.
It was a long day, trying to stay focused at work all the time I'm dreaming of a surprise visit. If it does happen to me I may explode with excitement!!!!
It's ok to explode BrendaOKC, as long as you can put yourself together in time for your winner's weekend visit!
Had to leave for a couple of hours. Hoping when I checked back they would post some sort of picture or hint of the winner being drawn! Oh well! Check back tomorrow. Sleep tight bloggers!
I have to go in to work early tomorrow, so if they put anthing new on tomorrow I won't see it until close to 5. So good luck everyone and I will see you all tomorrow.
Ronsodattle, If HGTV is in Knoxville TN, then the area code is 865. Who's in the 252 area code?
I think Ronsodattle is hoping the winner is in the 252 area code. I am sure you can imagine who lives in that area code!
say what u mean, people with sense don't beat around the bushes ? You know people like you need to keep ignorant comments to yourself. Please don't comment on my statements again I don't deal in ignorance.
I was saying that I hope the winner is from the 252 area code.
Me too, Shelby 54!
Welcome home Wyo_Girl, I am in San Clemente today, Los Angeles tomorrow, and then who knows where. Good Luck to You my friend and to all of us on the blog.
You're in good company, JenniferHI. None of us know anything and I'm in the same time zone as Vermont.
HI all, Good Luck to everyone on the blog for the upcoming 2011 HGTV DH drawing. Comments to Gaily:
In the truest sense of the word, this is not a smoke and mirrors concept. Tucking away a television in a master bedroom is more aesthetic, gives the room a broader clear sweep of things where the eye can be more attracted to the design work, art, and tremendous view. A few months ago several of our beloved bloggers, I think it was RJMstone, or DBCoop said that the master was a perfect place to hide something behind a wall, or mirror, and as far as I can tell I am glad the television gets hidden.
No drawing photos yet?? Maybe it didn't take place today.
Love the link, Alice. As I've said before, you're the Youtube Queen!
I came home from my exercise walk this afternoon to find I had a message on my answering machine. Here I thought for sure it was MARY calling to tell me I was a potential Dream Home winner. No such luck. Turns out it was a reminder from the doctor's office about a routine visit coming up! With all of this excitement and tension waiting for a sign from HGTV, my doctor will probably ask what's going on with me, since my blood pressure will be unusually high and my pulse will be racing! And then what am I going to tell him? — that I'm waiting for a call or a visit from HGTV about the Dream Home. That'll probably get me a referral for a mental health check-up! ^_^
The best mental health super duper fixer uper will be an all expense paid visit to the HGTV DH.
Coop, did you read Alice's previous comment? Someone at the restaurant told her you were at the drawing today. That Jimmy personally called and invited you to witness the drawing. The story goes that your pilot flew you there. Some even say you're a spy. Now you know I don't believe in spreading untruths, but this is mighty tempting. I think I feel a story brewing to explain some of the things that's been said about you. I'm sure DCoopernova has something to do with it. Before I start writing, I'm giving you the opportunity to set me straight.
Why were you out in such bad weather, Alice? You didn't take Soney did you?
Just think .. HGTV team KNOW who is going to win this beautiful home .. But no one else does ! NOT even the new winner UNTIL the 12 th ! OMGGGG Can we keep this up for another 10 days, friends ?! I think it will be fun. I am not a blogger, but the HGTV and Front Door blogs here have been fantastic fun !!!! Very exciting. Good luck to all who entered, and blessings to the winner.
Shelby54, stop kidding yourself. If you're on this blog, you're a blogger!
Right to that Lessie.
Well since I am bloging,,,,Im just happy Im a blogger here with Ya'll.
These days are going by slow!!! My wife is freaking out. "On my God you better clean that front porch she says"!:p
While we are waiting– what ever happened to the GoStowe contest sponsored by the Stowe Chamber? The winner was to receive a four day stay in Stowe. This might be a great time to announce the winner, in conjunction with the grand prize DH winner.
Did you enter that contest, Janzee? This is my first time hearing about it.
I did enter it, and now you have my curiosity perking. I am going to GoStowe.com and see if the contest is still available.
I just checked the site, and there isn't anything up at this time. They do have a chat box for questions.
No one lurking in this neighborhood.
Best wishes to the winner.
Been over at the green home. Dave has some nice pics,he lives in the neighborhood. The green team put up a teaser of the place, come April we'll see the complete picture.YIPPEE!! The landscape is fab.
Colorado is so beautiful…the only thing that gets me though is the mugginess.. where it's humid, the bugs get very big..and they tend to bite!
Sounds like Minnesota bugs, Melly1979. Ugh!
I love the Green Home landscape too, MaryPA. It's really nice. Where did you see Dave's pictures?
Go to the green home Feb25 under stapletondavid click on his name go to the links I believe he was on rate my space. He's a keeper!Hehehehe!!!
How long have you lived in Alaska? Do the vegtables really grow extremely large due to all the sunshine? What part if I my ask? We were thinking of doing the tour! Not this year with the wedding, but soon!!!
Mary….Gail…..PLEASE…..Put us out of our misery… post the drawing…..pllllllllllleeeeeeasssseeeee????? o.0
Do you think she's purposefully waiting until tomorrow, Melly? What do you think will happen if she waits until Friday or Monday to post the drawing?
Oh now that would be realllly very nice ! Drum roll please !
Hi, Melly1979 do you live in stapleton? David lives in that neighborhood he can only say and show so much or else they'll give him a timeout! hehehehe
Bugs, that seems to be the only downfall with the area, not bad.BIG BIG ones?Snakes and spiders, does mattter what size I shiver just thinking about them.
I know I hate anticipation.
The Green Home has snakes and spiders?! Big snakes and spiders?! I need a hoe!
Ugh…ok..no more procrastinating! Time to get to laundry… I bid you all a wonderful goodnight.. Sweetest dreams of the Dream Home to all, for all will be revealed on the morrow?? Let's hope! B)
OK just received a call from a 605 number, but I threw the phone to my husband to answer, and the phone hung up accidently. I sure hope they call back if it was HGTV.
If you're the winners, DavidandDiane, HGTV will definitely call you back!
Oh now that is just too much to stand ! haha
Oops, I ate all the cookies. Monica you'll have to bring your own….. But Ill be more than happy to bake some up at the dream home….
I loved this Idea when you guys aired the showing of the home
does the TV swivel? Just a question
and Gail.. THANKS FOR POSTING.. I check this everyday to see if you've been on here! LOL
Very appropriate for us !
Dear Linda ,
Loved the mirror tip we look forward to incorporating into our new home. But even more than that we are so excited to see it in person when we take our tour of the dream house on March 6th.
Well, I see it like this Epiphany. Since the tv is not distracting you, you may have more adventures undercover. Afterwards, you're relaxed and able to get a good night's sleep. Just saying……
No signs of anything yet so I will keep my fingers crossed and pray to GOD as hard as I can tonight, maybe in the morning we will have some news.
I've been over on the Green Home site, checking out the latest videos. I'm liking it…..it isn't the DH but I am excited to see the finished home!
For some reason, I am unable to comment on that blog….another glitch?? Anyway, when you all jump ship and head on over there, know that I'm still around…..just unable to comment. I've had ID working on this, hopefully it will be resolved before long!
Beautiful Home…Never owned a home…my family has been renting all our lives. I would love to have the opportunity to give something to my children that they could own in the future.
I'm in the same boat as you are DeeMichelle!!! Good luck!!!
Hello everyone:)
Just here to clear a few things up as I see so many are looking for a call so soon. I never used to read rules to sweepstakes or contests but I am now a stickler for them.
The drawing is on March 2nd., They notify the winner by Ambush on the 12th, and of course they have to keep it a secret until the special which is the 19th. I do believe that between the 2nd and the 12th they find the winner, and do some research on them to be able to make the surprise go smoothly. GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE
The reason why some are waiting for a call, is because most of the past Dream Home and Green Home winners received a call shortly after the drawing day and were informed they were a "potential winner."
I think HGTV does this to give the winner a heads up to avoid any potential problems on "ambush" day.
BUT, that doesn't mean they will do the same this time, so who knows…
Also, HGTV loves to use "on or about" when referring to dates, so nothing is written in stone.
Good luck everyone as we all wait in anticipation!
What a simple, great idea! Thanks for sharing!
According to the posted rules about the sweepstakes, debbielee27 is correct. Many of us believe that there is some sort of contact prior to the ambush. Somehow they have to be sure of the winner's whereabouts, correct? IF there is a call, wouldn't it come from the Knoxville area, which is area code 865? I can't imagine that they just show up with a camera crew without some surety! They'd be bouncing all over the country. While I'm sure they allow for some element of surprise, most people don't want to be "caught with their pants down."
Yes DHWinner, Like I said in my post, from the 2nd-12th they do all of their research AS TO WHERE THE WINNER LIVES, WORKS, POSSIBLY FAMILY MEMBERS ETC. I heard they do a background check but I believe that is after they notify the winner on the 12th. They can't do much of a background check before the notification as all they have on file is our names and addresses. In order for them to do that they would need social security numbers and such. So if for some reason the winner has a felony or something that may disqualify them. They will do a new Ambush all over again. That is why there is a week before the Final Show. Now I am just going by everything I have read on blogs, etc. not to mention I guess it is also common sense. The only real facts I have is what I read in the rules. Lots Of Luck To Ya…and Me Too. LOL
I seem to recall from past contests that HGTV will often contact relatives and/or coworkers for information about the winner and ask them not to mention this to the winner, so that HGTV can figure out how, when, and where to ambush that person without their prior knowledge. They do try to keep it a complete surprise for the winner and I think that they are usually successful!
Thanks debbielee and CplusE! I read somewhere that they contact the winner by phone and tell them they're one of the finalists in the drawing. Who knows exactly how they do it. I'm just glad they do what they do. Same here as far as what's stated in the rules. The rest is just hearsay!
Congrates and good luck to the lucky family who's name was picked yesterday. And have a great day also to my fellow HGTV /Front Door bloggers. Also, many thanks to all the wonderful HGTV Team members for their constant dedication to this Dream Home from start to finish, and in organizing it as well . Im sure, no easy task, but made to seem so by them all. I have to say this has been fun.
Shelby54, thanks for that nice post. I wish you the best of luck as well. This has been a fun ride and had opened my eyes to how beautiful Vermont really is.:)
Much luck to you too Good Daddy2 !. Vermont and all of New England is really very beautiful, they chose a great area for this home. Beautiful in the Fall season.
Mrach 12 can't come fast enough!!!!
From now until the 12th of March, it's time to pay attention to your surroundings more than ever if you're the lucky winner. As far as I know, none of us knows who that is? I've seen lots of posts making comments about looking out their windows (we do it too) for any possible sign of HGTV employees showing up in their neighborhoods. This is the time to get excited everyone; because, a winner has probably been selected on March 2nd and the detective work for the HGTV Dream Home crew begins; maybe…just maybe…in your neighborhood leading to your door! Good luck and sleep with one eye opened if you crash in your lazy boy recliner! o.0
Oh my God, Oh my God, this is absolute craziness and a lot of fun!:D Good luck to you, me and everyone out there who entered
We'll be happy for whoever wins the home…
Goodmorning to all of you. My computer has been out for the last 3 hours. I about went crazy!! We live out in the country and on our road we see maybe a car a day. And that is on a busy day.
i just got an email from cambridge who’s who for 2011 professionals, i’ve never rcv’d an email from them before and it was asking for my work’s name and number, my home # etc….anywho after a quick google search i learned they send those out all the time….but for a moment i thought it was hgtv trying to gather info about me
Ok, hopefully you bloggers can take away my agony– there is something I can't stop questioning. A few weeks ago, I was really sick, up at way-too-early hours and in my haze I may have entered into the drawing waaay early in the morning and I think I might have entered that same night. It wasn't until I clicked the submit button that I felt dejavu from that morning. If I did enter twice (well, four times) that day am I disqualified?! Is the HGTV day clock on a midnight to midnight cycle?! Will they just discard those extra entries?! Aaaaaaaaaahhhhh please help me ease my mind!!
They've said in the past they that they'll toss out the second entry because anyone can forget or not be aware of exactly when a day officially restarts to enter again…
What a relief! I would hate it if I disqualified myself. Thanks for the info!
what happens if you're not at home when they ambush you?
They don't care where they ambush the winner. They've done it at restaurants, department stores, at a school, on the street, at a police station (ok it was a policeman not a convict who won).
I know they film and edit the television special so that it could be mistaken to be happening live at the moment you're watching (March 19th this year), but in reality its normally flimed earlier and they don't have a fixed time to do it, so they'll figure out how and when is appropriate "to ambush the winner" given the circumstances.
I can only pray to see myself in that mirror
Good Entersec. If you see someone else in your mirror, it's time to call for help. The best to you!
Hello my fellow Blog Kin. I have never commented before…but I have read most of your Comments since the beginning of this 2011 Dream home Sweepstakes. I have enjoyed everyone's comments and your Excitement has been truly Contagious! I can't keep silent. Thank you for sharing! I pray that One of you Bloggers win!

Group Hug~
What a great group hug, Dreamspaces. Now back to hoping and dreaming!
I have yet to get one of my posts to stick – but here goes again. I entered 98 times on-line (2 x 49 days) and 1300 mail-in entries. I know its a long shot – but please come knock on my door!
SO WHO IS IT?
I AM SO EXCITED FOR YOU! God has blessed you and I thank God that you will enjoy so much in your life!
I love the storage space! How unique and wonderful for the TV! I can hide the books that are not so neat on the book shelf!
I had a blast blogging with all of you! Have a wonderful time in Stowe….whoever you are!
Teresa
Hope you continue to blog with us 1dream4me2. It doesn't have to be a daily commitment, just check in every now and then. Please enter the Green Home sweepstakes too. You meet new people during each of the giveaways.
Thanks HGTV for letting us have dreams that may come true! Please keep on doing these Dream Home contests. New England is a great place to live and hopefully you will be inspired with more Dream Homes up there. You know, I hear that Tennessee is a beautiful state too. Do you think the next Dream Home may be there? Anyways, good luck everybody!
I've always been a believer that a bedroom is for sleeping, etc, Not watching TV, i know in the USA (I'm Australian) that nearly (if not all) rooms have TV's if you can afford it, that TV look far too small to be of any effect unless your sitting on the end of the bed and even then. if anything I'd probably rig it up so the TV hangs from the four post bed some way … but then I digress …
You're funny Merksy65. Have you become so Americanized that you'd want a tv hanging from your bed post? I love that it's hidden so I can sleep without all the light beams and unwanted radiation or whatever bad vibes comes from tvs.
I AM AN EXTREME HGTV FAN. MY TELEVISION STAYS ON THE HGTV CHANNEL ALL DAY AND ALL NIGHT. I CAN EVEN WATCH EPISODES WHICH WERE PREVIOUSLY AIRED!! HOWEVER, WHEN IT COMES TO THE SWEEPSTAKES, I MUST ADMIT THAT I AM INCREASINGLY BECOMING A LITTLE DISENCHANTED, AS I AM FINDING THAT THERE ARE NEVER WINNERS WHO ARE PEOPLE OF COLOR. THERE WAS ONE TIME ON THE HOME SWEEPSTAKES THAT I ENTERED EVERYDAY FOR THE ENTIRE SWEEPSTAKES, WHICH I VOWED TO NEVER DO AGAIN. SO, WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THIS NOTE?? IT IS TO ASK HGTV TO BE MINDFUL OF THEIR SWEEPSTAKES WINNERS, BECAUSE IT SMELLS FISHY WHEN THERE ARE NEVER ANY PEOPLE OF COLOR RECEIVING PRIZES; PARTICULARLY WHEN THERE ARE FANS SUCH AS MYSELF, WHO ARE FAITHFUL TO THE CHANNEL AND ENJOY IT VERY MUCH. THANK YOU.
Browna56, did you see last year's winner of the Dream Home? Myra Lewis won and she is a person of color. Check out this link: http://blog.hgtv.com/dreamhome/2010/05/24/hgtv-dr….
I'm a person of color too. Even though I don't watch the HGTV channel 24/7, I'm still a winner. After all, I met you and that would not have happened if you hadn't blogged.
PS If you don't type in all caps, it's easier on my old eyes to read your comments. Besides, some people think you're shouting at them when you type in all caps. Me, as long as I don't hear you shouting, it doesn't bother me.
Can't wait to hear who the incredibly lucky person is…especially if it is ME!! This was my first time getting caught up in a sweepstakes and blogging too…and what fun it has been! I am looking forward to the next opportunity…and, I wonder…do the winners of the dream home enter the contests for other dream homes??
Anyway…keep dreaming!! If it's you, you will know soon…and the rest of us soon after!
I am soooo nervous with anticipation with buterflies in my stomach wondering and praying that just maybe i will have a knock on my door in Cleveland, MS>>>>>>> I have entered the sweepstakes for the past 5 years with no lucky win yet
((
Love this idea. With THAT wonderful bedroom and bathroom in Stowe, who in their right minds would be watching tv anyway! Great way to hide the TV whose primary function probably will be checking the weather channel or local channel for ski conditions! OR better yet… watching HGTV for more great tips!
Thank you – Thank you – Thank you!!!
I AM SO GLAD YOU POSTED THIS IT'S A GREAT IDEA!
Such a beautiful master bedroom & bath! I am sooo STOWEKD( Stoked for Stowe!)
Good Luck Everyone, the suspense is killin me!
My phone has been out for 2 days, repairman came out today. Hope I havent missed that call, but if I have (PLEASE CALL BACK)…………
