5. Just taking a little pole, who here entered to win would actually re-locate to Vermont year round, live, work, etc OR how many would use it for a vacation home, to visit a few times a year ? My husband and I would use it for a vacation home, visit and use it every three months or so. Not rent it out at all, keep it just for us and our immidiate family to enjoy for gatherings, holidays etc, several times throughout the year. Just curious. what others have planned as far as the use of it in their lives Good luck to everyone and blessings to the winner.

   • if i were to win, i would keep it as a vacation home and avry time theres a three day weekend go up to visit but atleast once a month. we would probly also go up there with other family for holidays and such. wen evr we arent using it, id rent it out cus the taxes will probly be a lot. the phone!!!!

   • I would take the cash.. My job pays pretty well, but not well enough to be able to pay my existing mortgage and then another $45,000 a year in taxes, not to mention the extra income taxes.. Yikes!

7. I can only hope I win. I live in a 2 bedroom apartment in Texas. I hope they do the ambush BEFORE the 12th, as I will taking my kids to disney world for the week of spring break. We will be driving, so will be leaving the morning of the 12th and not returning till the 18th. The rules stated: Grand Prize Winner will be contacted in person on or about March 12, 2011 (subject to change) in the form of a "ambush style" visit by Main Sponsor representatives and such potential Grand Prize Winner may be filmed during such visit by Main Sponsor" Hopefully someone realizes that is the begining of spring break and do this no late than THIS Friday (11th)

     • Yes, if they can reach you within 5 days of when they first tried to notify you. So if you're gone and they can not reach you it could be a problem. They might move on to the next winner.

    • The 12th is when they do the actual ambush. the 19th is when HGTV lets everyone else know who the winner is and show all the edited footage from the ambush.

    • I think the winner will know between Thursday and Saturday (10th-12th) of this week. That would give the winner enough time (the 5 days) to sign the release/forms and allow the production crew to put together the show to air on the 19th. Good luck

15. I'm sure he's never been to Mankato, KS before, but I'm also sure he's probably never even heard of it so he probably didn't mean here when he made his comment. Oh well, I still have hope. And I was curious, how many of you would take the cash, and how many of you would take the home, then try to sell it to come out with more in the end? I'm 1000% sure I'd take the house and sell. I wouldn't want to sell, but let's be realistic, there's no way I could keep it, or live in Stowe no less. If you take cash, it's 650,000, but the house(with contents) is worth 1.5 million. Wouldn't you be CRAZY to take the cash?!? With all the media coverage on the dream home, I'd think you could surely sell it for well over the estimated value, don't ya think? :S;)

28. i had a dream about the dream home last night and it was probly one of the best dreams ever. i hope my dream turns into reality! i always picture my self going up there and be chilling around and just deciding "i think ill turn the fireplace on and go in the hot tub!" i think next year should be somewhere like this year, close to a ski lodge and stuff. i wouldnt mind a chance to win a home in vermont again!! i also think the inside should be nice and modern, sorta like the kitchen/dining room/living area/annex from this year! plus, the rooms should be like this year too, madee for any age and a lot of people well congrats to this years winner! i hope theyll be at MY door this weekend… although i do hav places to be….

31. If I were to win, I would relocate to vermont to give my daughter a quality of life that she deserves. Growing up, I did not have the best childhood But have brought myself up and making enough to support me my husband and daughter but it is still not enough. I am going to give her everything that I didn’t have. I still have a far ways to go but winning this house will put her into an enviroment that will help with the quality of life for my daughter.

    • You might want to look at the video again. the mail entries are placed into a "physical" bit. the email entries are placed in a "virtual" bin. The ball he picked simply has the "BIN" number, not what kind of bin it is.

It could be a big city that most people have heard of, but one he's never visited. The phrase is too ambiguous to interpret. Most likely, he meant it to be that way.

    First and foremost, congratulations for the winner.

    Secondly, the odds of winning is really far fetch.

    But I think HGTV is kind of bias of selecting who the winner will be? Past winners are all from back east. Also, they have all sad stories to say. I have hand written about 300 and entered more than 40 via internet.

    I am very sorry for the rant I will not waste my time entering anymore.

    Just give it to the underpriviledge ones as I am one of them. Maybe I have to tell my stories ahead of time so he will be sympathetic too.

    I will have to work very hard for the rest of my life.
