Yeah … I would hope that I'd be able to get some clue, though. I'm the guy who figures out the plot twists right from the start when I'm reading mystery novels or watching a mystery on television.

I love pitbulls! They are one of the best family dogs! I call them velcro dogs because they love to stay by your side all of the time. They are the biggest babies and love bugs!

lol. i have a friend that wont even get out of her car, but all my dogs are good dogs. my teenagers have friends in and out all the time so they are use to comings and goings. and my husbands friends. there was a couple people they didnt like but just bark and make alot of noise, but i trust their taste in judging someones chariter. I say if a good dog dont like someone then there must be a reason right.? lol. anyways if they saw just my yard, or should i say my husbands side of the yard, that would probley scare them off in itself. lol

I have thoroughly enjoyed being a visitor to this blog for the last week or so. I usually stay over at the Dream Home Message Board. Was totally bummed when Mr. Smith posted on the board the winner's information. The Admin went in an removed the person's street address, but left the rest of the message up. That's when I ran back over here and was bummed all over again to see that Mr. Smith had done the same here. If he is telling the truth, well, that is just so sad and unfair to ruin the excitement for everyone including HGTV. Just totally bummed!

Lessie-This Blog is really going strange–>There was someone named Backtonormal and now that account is deleted–another person keeps referring to the message board with the winners name..this time it is truly all messed up!!! This usually happens after the winner is announced not now!
Cindy, I guess it's the economy and job lay-offs and everything else that's happening because it's never gotten to this point so early in the game. We're supposed to still be dreaming, hoping, planning, and waiting. All I can say is:

I'm sad this blog is at an end but I will be moving over to the Green House, it's closer to Oklahoma and I may even try to get up there and see it. I would love the next dream home to be in Washington State, the mountains there are also beautiful. I plan on a visit to Leavenworth Washington this fall for Octoberfest. If you have never been there it is a must see!! Have a great day and hope to see you at the Green House Blog.

Look at all the comments and you'll see one from HGTV admin (picture of Gumby). It confirms it there.
Still not seeing it – all "Gumby" did was reference John Smith's edited post – where does it say "confirmed" anything?
You could be right – but there is nothing in HGTV's post that says "we confirm that its these people."
Interestingly enough – I found an address and phone number for a John Smith who lives on the same street as the supposed winners about a block or so away – wonder how he would feel having his information blasted to the world (if is in fact even him posting)? My point is that we really just don't know….

That's what I was thinking too but then I went over on the message boards. The guy posted over there and then a few comments below HGTV admin confirmed it. The only thing they edited was the people's address. They took it out. So I do believe it's official.
If this all is true…I was really excited (even if it was not me) to not hear anything until the 19th. Makes me sad that NOW all of a sudden some jerk gets on the blog and shoots off his mouth. Just like a litte kid….I KNOW SOMETHING YOU DON"T KNOW…please….
I'm inclined to agree. They would have to remove a personal street address as I would think there are privacy issues. But, if they were to remove the whole comment that would almost appear as if they were confirming it in the process, therefore they have to leave it up.

Don't Panic Yet folks! The sky is not falling! In a world where tensions are high regarding the Dream Home winner and everyone is on edge, BEAR in mind (that phrase always sends a cold chill down my spine!) that Scripps Networks, whether it be HGTV, DIY, and several others under their corporate umbrella, runs many different shows where trucks and camera crews show up at homes around America.
For example, in a news article released February 25, 2011: DIY Network Is Crashing Across America; Next Stop: Ambush Renovation in CHICAGO. Ambush Day– Saturday, March 5 from10 a.m. CT to 12 p.m. CT
I don't believe it. If that was true the person who posted it would have given more info. The person said, Don't believe me?, just wait, If the person gave the names of the people, why didn't the person give more proof. I don't think HGTV would have posted it because it is supposed to be a surprise on the special on the 19th.
I believe HGTV took out the address because it is kind of an invasion of privacy if they are NOT the winners. Poor people. HGTV usually keeps things pretty hush hush (night time ambushing, tells people at dinner partys are at people's work). I could see though where a neighbor or co-worker could witness it and blab. I always figured HGTV had them sign a disclosure too, asking not to tell, but I guess you can't get everyone who might have seen it. Shame on those people. BUT, HGTV might have also picked runners ups as a decoy and haven't done the "real" ambush yet. That's what I'm going with for now. I still think it will be between today and Saturday.
If it is that couple, good for them and congrats!!
Also, remember one year they picked 3 people and they all went to the dream home, picked keys out and if it opened the door they were the winner (something like that)…keep dreaming
Doesn't look like HGTV actually confirmed anything, looks like it just shows where they posted, which was actually just an edit to remove an address from the initial post. Regardless of who the winner is big congrats to them!!! how exciting!!! I hope that the winner is still "unknown" because it is so much more exciting that way!

I wasn't born in the late 70's/early 80's but I sure lived through them and remember just about everything mentioned! Some of those trends I actually lived through twice (slathered-on blue eyeshadow — who'd have thought it would make a comeback from the '60s!). That was a great e-card and your mom must be a fun person. BTW, belated Happy Birthday!

We're still waiting SouljaGirl. I think the ambush will be Friday or Saturday. I'm going to a concert by the Spelman College Jazz Ensemble Friday night then I'm filling in for someone on Saturday morning. If I'm the winner, just take me to Copeland's Saturday night and I'm good.

This is my first time commenting on this site, but I have been following and reading the blog posts for several months now. How exciting!
After reading the post about the supposed winner, I was crushed! I mean after all, I just knew it was my house they were going to ambush – don’t we all? Then, after reading DBCoop007 reference “February 25, 2011: DIY Network Is Crashing Across America; Next Stop: Ambush Renovation in CHICAGO. Ambush Day– Saturday, March 5 from10 a.m. CT to 12 p.m. CT” I tend to agree with Coop! The time and date does correspond with the DIY crashing more than the Dream Home ambush. The rules state clearly that they would be ambushing someone on or about the 12th not on or about the 8th!
So, I am cautiously hopeful again…
Although, it would be nice if someone from the Dream Home staff would give us some input on the matter. It has been several days since we have gotten any feedback.

Notice that the location change article was dated 2/25, prior to the winner even being drawn for the dream home….. so someone from scripps network was indeed in Chicago for an ambush this month…. doesn't mean it had to be for the dream home— KEEP DREAMING BLOGGERS!!!!! We have until the 12th!
But this ambush was to take place on 5 March and according to Smith the ambush he was referring to was the morning of the 8th, not that I want to believe the weasel.

It could have been DIY at the peoples home. If they were ambushed at the home improvement store on the 5th, it would make sense DIY would take a few days to get everything set up for the "makeover project" and then come back when they are ready to film.
1. Maybe JohnSmith2510 really is a real person and saw the real DH ambush; or
2. Maybe JohnSmith2510 really is a real person and saw what he THOUGHT was the DH ambush (see DPCoop's theory); or
3. Maybe JohnSmith2510 is a real person and just some A-hole (see, I didn't curse) stirring up trouble; or
4. Maybe JohnSmith2510 is HGTV throwing out a red herring or false flag because the ambush team was about to get caught; or
5. ?????
Whatever the truth is, HGTV is either enjoying the hell out of reading these posts, or doing some serious damage control at the moment.
LOL! This was a good read. HGTV is enjoying this and never thought about having to deal with John Smith the neighbor across the street who would hit the HGTV Blog. They can put the winners on a Hush Hush contract but not the neighborhood. Sooooo close to Chicago…..augh….I was so close to winning.

Well, if this is true, congrats to them. Those Illinois residents are VERY LUCKY! Don Cruz, the 2005 Dream Home Winner hailed from Batavia, Illinois. The home was in Tyler, texas.
Well, if that is true I guess those non-disclosure statements, the winner's are supposed to sign to keep it a secret until the reveal date, are not worth the paper they are written on!

After reading the posts, or rather edited reposts, by HGTV Admin in the HGTV message board of the original comment regarding a possible DH winner in Chicago (Hinsdale) it's clear to me that HGTV Admin is neither confirming nor denying the rumor. They have, for privacy reasons and in line with posting rules, simply edited out an individual's street address. I don't find that unusual at all.
I remain open to every possibility until HGTV either releases to the media or posts an OFFICIAL confirmation, or until the Dream Home Winner's Reveal on March 19th.
Rumors, as some others have noted, are an annual event with the Dream Home Sweeps — some meant to be intentionally disruptive and misleading, others simply mistaken about the facts. HGTV can't be too upset about the potential for increasing interest in the Winner's Reveal later this month, as long as the basic rules of the blog are not being breached by the wording of such a claim.
Plus, if anyone has been bragging about winning the dream home (as Mr. Smith has posted they have been doing), then they've disqualified themselves by having violated the NDA that they are required to sign. So I personally doubt they're the winners anymore, if they ever were in the first place.
The winner should only receive the price, if they have followed the rules. Only fair. ;-(
And now, as we continue our wait, with all of the ups and downs of today's blog, I'm heading for the nearest exit… and off to the gym …just in case Monica may still show up at my doorstep!

My son is the 23rd of the grandchildren, whom all ski or snowboard. This would be a blessing for huge family. Only problem our two or either dogs will not fit in the doggie dream home…but they will survive. Good luck to all and a dream come true to one.

If what he is saying is true and these people are blabbing all over the place – then hopefully they will have this windfall snatched away from them. I have no idea what is in any of the non-disclosure agreements, but certainly these people can't be that stupid to blab to everyone. While JohnSmith is most decidedly an A-hole who has stooped to a very low level, blame rests solely with the winners who are blabbing – what idiots!
I still think he is hearing his information second hand and what he saw was the renovation ambush (or whatever it is) if he even saw anything other than lights and cameras.

I really am not being disrespectful but I really don't think I would want to know that much information about someone even a member of my own family! And I think it is a little dangerous there are nutty people out there, I just think you aren't thinking of their personal safety. It's great you can find a lot of information quite fast but you have ask yourself is does this have the potential to harm someone and it is it the right thing to do.
